All these colleges get so much free bitcoin. 100$ was given a month back to MIT students for free, and that time it was around 0.5 million dollars given away.

Let's hope they hang on to the coins and don't sell it immediately after getting a small windfall.

This is a great way to spread the word. Collage kids are often very tech savy these days and they like to spend.
Would like to know if any research was done after the MIT bitcoin handout.

This is a great news indeed. More students are under the Bitcoin umbrella, more is the chance to create demand. Nice to see this initiative from International Business Machine.

Brings me to the memory that at one time cigarettes were given out for free because the younger generations weren't consuming that anymore so they have to make it a trend

Can't quite understand why is the IBM promoting bitcoin? Are they just using bitcoin to promote they're own services? Or is it just pure marketing and the only goal is to get some attention?
Anyway, nice to see action like this.

So they're dropping physical bitcoins? I don't know if it's included in the Portuguese news, cause i can't read Portuguese. Would be hilarious if a bunch of them fell into holes or drains. Hopefully, they did educate them about Bitcoin after they received the coins. Would be a pity to see the student's think of the coins as dust-collectors.

I you smell fish, it most probably is fish. I cannot see why IBM would be dropping BTC - - - What would the incentive be to do that? Anyways, if it was a marketing ploy or publicity stunt, it should mean that we might see some sort of a announcement soon.

IBM Brazil is giving away 18000 USD (50000 Brazilian reals) in Bitcoins at the Campus Party in Sao Paulo. The helicopter money will be delivered today, February 7th, between 09h and 13h, and between 14h and 19h. The promotion is valid only for those who are registered and present at the Campus.
