The source code is now online: https://github.com/supcoin/supcoin

Note MINING HAS NOT BEGAN(ie, don't panic). The wallet will not sync until the launch time tomorrow at 10pm EST.

I've started compiling the binary wallets now and it should be done for all platforms in around 3 hours. I'm using Gitian, so if you want to build it yourself to verify that I'm not placing any backdoors in the binary wallets, you can do this fairly easily by following the instructions here: https://github.com/supcoin/supcoin/blob/master/doc/gitian-building.md

That is an amazing guide. I'll try to do a Gitian Build for you.

All credit for that goes to the bitcoin devs. I just replaced all the bitcoin references with supcoin references in it Smiley

Compiling the last wallet now, so should have binary wallets up soon

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Testing new things in real life conditions is a valid reason for making a new coin, with participants being rewarded for taking part in the test in order to obtain test data for further research. Being a test there is also the prospects of the test ending at some point when enough data has been collected or conditions becoming out of control.

However, @earlz can you please confirm what new things you will be testing and what the conditions are that you want to create? What aspects will you be adding to the virtual currency body of knowledge towards creating a currency of the future in the categories of technology, process or economics? Do you have an estimate of how long the test will last and what the bounds are after which the test will stop or be aborted? This is important information to know for participants as it is input to the risk/reward calculations.

The sole purpose of alt-coins imo is to test new things and building the body of knowledge bit by bit. 5% of altcoins are real tests and the rest are just scams or fake tests to make a quick buck. A few coins of the 5% find new things and stick around longer than others (e.g. DRK and its masternodes etc.) but in general they have short lifespans. Any estimate on the Sup lifespan?

Earlz,

Can you explain this part of the cpu miner bat file?
-O foo:bar
Is that supposed to be in their exactly like that or are we supposed to substitute our rpuser:password there?
And do we still setgenerate -1 in console to use cpu miner by Wolf?
Sorry for the questions if they are dumb, I have only solo mined once.

Thanks.

Yea, sorry corrected that now. Replace that with <USERNAME>:<PASSWORD>

And no, if you use the cpuminer with the batch file, then you shouldn't use the "setgenerate" bit

setgenerate false

Also, for everyone using the Supcoin installer. Yes, I'm aware I missed a huge swath of logos in the installer. The wallet itself is properly themed however

OK so I followed the instructions for the Gitian build, but I don't know what to put for v${version} in
Code:
git checkout v${VERSION}
in the "Installing Gitian" section.

I also don't have a mac so I can't do the mac stuff here.

I also haven't signed before so I don't know what to do.

Yes - but i am positive to have everything working until then, currently cpu miners are a bit too slow to get accepted shares, gpu testing already works

Will the GPU miner be ready in less than 11 hours? Because I'll have left to go to school after that time. Sad

Also, are you the one working on the GPU miner?
