This forum is going to become a garbage dump soon if the newbie jail is not enforced at once. The number of spam and stupid posts is ballooning alarmingly.

You are right but it probably won't happen. Not having a newbie jail results in more page views and allows people to participate with less barriers.
I think a good compromise would be to implement some kind of modified newbie jail with some level of restrictions potentially less then it was previously

What makes you think the newbie jail will stop this? They'll just make the required number of posts and wait out the time restrictions then just carry on doing what apparently annoys you. I can take or leave the newbie jail but it doesn't really solve anything other than annoy new users, many of who will just leave rather than persist through the limits.

I don't agree with this as many people join here for some particular reason such as to provide their service and to ask a technical doubt.

I don't think that newbie jail is a good idea. As you all know newbies accounts have some restrictions to begin with. They need to wait 5 minutes (?) after posting a post to write another one. One thing I would like to to see is deletion of all non used newbie accounts from forum database.

That's enough for them and because of it, some persons go away! One thing I would like to to see is deletion of all non used newbie accounts from forum database.
Wouldn't that delete their posts too? Or will the name of the poster change to 'Account deleted' or 'Guest'? I don't support deleting user's post as newbies also make useful posts. -MZ

There was a lot less spam, and it seems like fewer dumbasses when we had newbie jail. And it seems like there were far fewer sock puppet accounts then as well.

I think newbies starts from a 6-minute wait then reduced as their activity pile up. I don't support deletion if such a task involve deleting user produced contents.

I was talking about newbie account only. Newbie accounts with no post at all. They are really impressive number of account with 0 post count. You won't be deleting any content produced by members that way.

Many months ago I adopted a shoot first policy on members with ads in their sig. I began reflexively clicking "ignore" on any poster that had an ad in their sig. I only un-ignore when I encounter quotes of things that poster has said that indicate that they actually contribute useful, helpful, or interesting things.
This has made bitcointalk a much more useful and much more pleasant place to participate in.

I personally don't like ignoring someone. No offense but I think it isn't possible to see a ignored person's posts. So do you unignore to check the post and then if it is useful, perma-unignore or else, perma-ignore? -MZ
