Well, it's a great way for newbies to get their hands on their first satoshis. Also, if you manage to somehow get a lot of referrals, you can get a decent amount.
a better way is to sign up to a campaign , and at the same time be able to actually learn something new at the same time , at a faucet you simply type random captcha's

You would make more at a faucet then at a newbie signature campaign, so that's why newbies go to faucets.
Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

Faucets are a good start for newbies on using bitcoins. Its like testing the waters. While other creative guys used faucets to gather funds for trying to gamble on other sites too, hoping to increase their btc holdings.

I don't know, perhaps you, or your friends?

Faucets are ad platforms.

It's hard to persuade people to spend money or invest in unless something is given. For instance, faucet is for new, clean users.

While others have been earning profit regardless the price index against the dollars. I am one of them ,time will tell if succeed or not. If you are not sure, Why don't you PM to ask?

Faucets are a waste of time.
But if you want to get your hands on your first satoshis, it is a better way of obtaining them than begging.
People are initially reluctant to "spend" money to buy bitcoins.

Many people on my country have many alt accounts on a faucet, about 20-200 each person. They make a script/macro, then they earn from it massively.

My comment is even if you have so much time to spare, you are still better off doing nothing. Most of the time, amount of bitcoin you earn are not even enough to cover the transaction fees

Faucet isn't really useless in my opinion..

The faucets were the one introduced me into bitcoin world
Then I learn the basic about how bitcoin works, what they do, etc
also if I lucky maybe I got the biggest jackpot on there :p

But yeah, faucet doesn't make you rich.. working does Grin

Faucets are the easiest way to earn bitcoins and there are only few that are really good as you earn lot and they withdraw to your bitcoin account only after you earn the minimum else the fee charged is a lot. Few good ones are http://moonbit.co.in/, bitcoinaliens, freebitco.in

Not exactly as there are good signature campaigns for newbies too and one can make more than they earn in faucets: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0;topicseen

When you keep posting here, you can achieve the next status soon and then can apply for a better signature campaign.

Since newbies would likely not have much knowledge in Bitcoin, they are unable to post constructively on the forum. To truly understand Bitcoin, one must try to send or receive Bitcoin. There's where the faucet comes in.

Speaking as someone who both uses faucets AND runs her own bitcoin faucet, I look at it primarily as an introduction to
acquiring / sending Bitcoin. They see how easy Bitcoin transactions are and it isn't the Big Unknown Thing anymore. I think
too that it appeals to the gambler's mentality in a lot of folks - will I or won't I will the big payout this time?

The only thing that that irks me are the insane number of ads faucet owners try to cram onto their faucet pages. I get
the ad revenue angle, but having so many ads, pop-ups, and pop-unders that users' browsers start sobbing uncontrollably
in the corner? Not cool. Also the porn ads. A LOT of newbie Bitcoin faucet users are kids and faucet owners need to take
that into account.

/end rant

i can categories people who use faucets like this:
1) people who just started with bitcoin (like me back then) and what to see what is what and learn a bit.
2) people who can gather a lot of refferals in a way that it would be worth the effort
3) people who don't know how to use a calculator or their time is worthless

the only people who use faucets are the ones which worthless time! because it is a waste of time. you fill in the captcha only to get average of 100 satoshi!!!

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.

i don't think it is possible, or at least not possible with those numbers (20-200 accounts) because faucets will not pay the same IP in one time period and also i doubt if someone can change IP 200 times!

My point being , there's so many other much more profitable ways to be earning bitcoins can someone explain to me who the people using these are ? and why.

Its obvious that they want to earn some extra money by using faucets.

wouldn't some people have botnets too to get a little extra bitcoin from faucets? i'm sure some bots would be able to crack capthcas on some of these faucets. i'd imagine they'd make a good amount of bitcoin by running a botnet on bitcoin faucets.

I dont think thats bots can solve the capthcas. its impossible
