I was just wondering if it was possible for the admin of this forum to install the Tapatalk add-on onto this forum.  The add-on basically allows people who have iPhones or android devices to download the Tapatalk app and browse the forum in a mobile-friendly manner?

Link to Tapatalk is here: http://tapatalk.com

Discuss about this possible add-on.  Do you own a mobile device?  Would this be of an asset to you?

That would be awesome. I'll start following discussions on this forum when Tapatalk support is enabled.

Bitcoinforums.net seems to have tapatalk/convo support already.

Please install Tapatalk. I see in an earlier thread that theymos said it was a ton of code, and a massive pain to look through, but it seems to be a simple mod for SMF now.

How is it annoying? If you don't like it, simply don't use it. It makes posting much easier for mobile users.

there is nothing annoying about tapatalk...there is forumrunner too but I checked and there is no support for smf yet

I have tapatalk on 2 forums for the last 2 years and there is no problem with it at all, but in the first versions when there was too many users logged in from tapatalk there was a huge overhead on the server/Db server. Don't know if it was fixed or we fixed something else that fixed that issue Smiley

I believe the overhead and security issues have been fixed.

The Tapatalk mod for SMF is no longer available on the official mod site. Additionally, I believe it introduced a number of CSS security issues and they weren't very regular with their updates, which (I think) may have been why it was removed. Lastly, it would interfere with regular browsing from mobile devices and harass the users into installing the Tapatalk app.

The only official version that I know of for SMF 1 is for a much-older version of SMF 1.1.11:
http://www.tapatalk.com/activate_tapatalk.php?plugin=smf

I'd recommend if you use the Tapatalk app and enjoy it, to ask the Tapatalk devs to take SMF support more seriously, and to not introduce code that annoys regular mobile users in an attempt to force them to install their app.

Agreed!

I really hate Tapatalk because of the alert prompts. I can see a banner at the top saying "This forum supports tapatalk!", but you don't need to tell me practically every single time.

And on some forums, every time you visit it an addon tells you "This forum has an android/iphone/whatever app! GO GET IT NOW!" and it gets kind of annoying.
