The ones that did exist produced crappy hardware OR nothing at all. Bare minimum attempts to defraud consumers. Good riddance. Until a TRULY good one shows up, its better none exist at all.

I'm guessing biggest "american" company was BFL. And we all know the story on them. I am happy to get miners from other countries to get quality such as SP or Bitmain.

It's pretty sad these days but what used to be the American Way (make the best thing possible) has been usurped by a potent combination of greed and laziness. Maximize gain from the least possible effort, that's what we're good at now.

Well, it is cheaper to get it projected and manufactured in china so that may be why.
And also, since bitcoin price is falling (or staying same for quite a while) it is no longer profitable to mine and buy an expensive new device from brand new company. Not even in USA

I wish my outfit could afford to build a miner, even using someone else's chips is fine. The upfront cost for prototyping and batching is more than we've got and I hate borrowing money. It certainly wouldn't be built in China.

That would be nice. If you could bang out a quiet power efficient miner with a decent price here in the USA.

I've got some ideas, mostly sprouted from discussions around the BE300. I'm contemplating fetching some sample chips from Spondoolies to see what we can do with 'em, but I don't know if we have the tools required to work with BGA properly. Just guessing Bitmain doesn't sell chips, since I've never seen a third-party miner with their chips on it, but the current gen would be super nice to play with in the design idea Novak and I came up with.

Avalon have the latest gen chip that is still accessible to integrators.

I've been holding to see what happens with the BE300 chips. It would be awesome if someone could get their hands on some and make something. I know its hard to get the funding and support for that kind of project though.

Avalon have the latest gen chip that is still accessible to integrators. That's a good point, and I believe the package on those isn't terrible. I'll have to check if samples are still really expensive.

I remember this video of Gavin making a presentation of btc before analyst at the cia, the chanting, the laugh, go America... it's a systemic endemic problem, that will require extreme violence (the same type that was used against the natives to solve it), but anyway it's better, I am sure that the corrupt nsa (under the leadership of the infamy that is the cia) would have patriot acted the US manufacturers in putting spyware in their products, so why even thinking to build anything electronic in the occupied American united states . edit: and no b.o. no martin, ghandi, they haven't succeeded in overthrowing the money changers, plundering them and letting them and their loved ones including their children die in the sewers full of our shits. you have been gamed by them.
