Panic buying / short covering... a natural reaction from deep oversold conditions.  I'm betting this one is sustainable.

im betting the same, it was obvious from the behaviour of the wall placings on btcchina (where the rise started as far as iwe seen it) that someone was rising the price buying @ market price,
placing buy walls under it, and then remove them with a much smaller buy walls that went down fast, and then again reversal to buying and placing walls again..
from all of this, it seams logical to assume that someone is interested in gaining alot of coins @ about 1590 cny, and if thats their entering position, this is going above 260/270 $ easily.

cheers

this is an example of what it would look like in search for liquidity at a much higher level for many sustained hours.

Market sentiment seems to have turned to very bullish.

Though price depends mostly on whale sentiments Wink, we can still expect it to go Moon and Beyond

This is unlikely to be "just another pump".

A flat market doesn't make anyone any money, the whales want it to move one way or another so they can cash in, this is probably just another example.
At least it is in our direction this time Smiley

Mega switches from PayPal to Bitcoin.

I'd like to think that, but looks like his tweet came after the pump:

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/kim-dotcoms-mega-could-use-bitcoin-after-paypal-ceases-processing-payments-1489711

He tweeted after midnight and the price spike was shortly after 10PM EST, so don't there was cause and effect action.

Whales don't want anyone getting large quantities of coin on the cheap from the auction.....
or an auction buyer wants to spur a rally, get coins, and dump higher.
I don't know, make up whatever theory you want  Cheesy

Right now, it looks pretty normal to me. Even though it is a $14 rise in just a matter of minutes, during the course of its history, we have seen equivalent or much faster meteoric rise of bitcoin. right now, that's pretty typical. At one time, if I can still remember it was like $30 in just a blink of an eye.

it's been a few days since Morgan Spurlock did his special on CNN. It was a very positive program for BTC and I think it was shown worldwide (on TV - not just the internet). It takes a few days to open and fund accounts but I'm sure it convinced a few thousand to join the troops.

MEGA is also very positive news IMHO as they will lead the charge for many similar sites....

If you wanted to buy large amount of coins, would you do a market order worth all your money, or would you buy some, wait the price to stagnate/drop, and buy more ..etc
There is no reason why anyone sane would do a one click buy, it would just be a waste of funds.
Observe the "walls" , its obvious whats happening, atleast it seams to me.

cheers

If there was no immediate upswing incoming you would chain buy. If you wanted to create a fake rally, you would keep chain buying.  If you had some inside news about something imminent and wanted to enter a market at a good price (or wanted to enter before the weekend pump lol) it would make sense to slam buy orders hard before everyone caught on, the news was released, the event happened, etc.
So, most likely the large buy foreshadows a big upward move........or the person is retarded  Tongue

He is a big player, big character that has the ears of many people. Therefore, while his mentioning it would provide other people to act upon his statement and take a share of profit he
may have, he statement can and will also bring more people investing in bitcoin. Some of those who agreed and respected what he does, will also now embrace bitcoin, because it is
something that he now promotes.

Its also relevant that he is mad at paypal, and when it comes to emotions, people dont allways do the most profitable thing, rather than the most harmfull thing to the other party involved.
