How easy would it be to have a QR code on the ticket machine for the length of stay. Scan the code, get your ticket. Done.

I am pretty sure this is already happening i see it somewhere when i find the link i will post it here so you can take a look but yeh it is not long before this is a reality and yes it would be super easy, if you knew the address you could even pay in advance and book your parking space

People obviously don't see the benefits that are right there. I've seen similar things happen and the people getting mad and even hitting the machine in the past. I guess we should make Bitcoin a subject in schools, maybe in 10 years we will have a better generation.

That isn't a problem with the currency itself but a problem with the services to send and receive it. So fiat isn't the problem here.

Yep this system is in the works. First company to start implementing a strategy like this that I know of is Parkt, more will follow in their footsteps http://www.coindesk.com/parkt-opens-parking-rewards-system-bitcoin-users/

The ease of payment will be good and like someone touched upon maybe after knowing the address you could pay in advance without even needing to go to the machine

yes indeed, the problem is in the payment gateway not in the fiat currency with bitcoin this problem will be solved easily but we have to make people know what bitcoin, and benefit using bitcoin

The ease of payment will be good and like someone touched upon maybe after knowing the address you could pay in advance without even needing to go to the machine Addresses aren't made to be re-used... a new address should be generate whenever a new car pulls into the spot. But yeah, while you're out, if you realize you're not going to make it to your car on time, you could/should be able to pay to the same address that you'd originally paid to to extend your time...

I understand your sentiments but this is just a problem with a machine malfunctioning and it could happen with QR Code scanner too. But you're partially right, another added option to pay using Bitcoin for simple things such as this would really help as it is ire-reversible mode of payment.

Yes, Bitcoin will succeed for many reasons. Of course, QR codes can easily be tied to fiat/debit cards, so they are not exclusive to Bitcoin.

That would be really awesome , parking tickets and fines are too much and the more hassle is waiting for them in line . If only all that could happen through bitcoin , so easy and Great

Bitcoin as a subject in school? Wow , thats cool! and thats not gonna happen There is no reason not to. Depending on the laws, a private school could possibly add it. Teaching children about the benefits of Bitcoin and the technology behind it would surely yield with a great generation. Such a generation would be likely to find new ways of advancing it.

Yea, it's a problem with all these coin / fiat operated machines. We recently had NEW fiat being printed, and coins replaced.... the older machines did not want to accept the NEW coins. {So you have NEW coins with the correct value, but the machine is still accepting old coins} It is frustrating indeed. Bitcoin can solve that problem indeed and you will see more of that in the future. The only problem... it's still a machine and machines break down and components fail. They should develop a parking APP for a mobile phone... you pre-load coins for parking, and when you approach these gates, you just scan and it opens the gate.... when you leave, you scan again, and your amount gets deducted, and the gate open again, for you to leave.
