Hi guys

I've just picked up 3 x Club3D 5870 Overclocked edition for $260 AUD each.  This is the config I have them running at without any tweaking of the miner:

OS: Windows 7
Driver: Catalyst 11.5
SDK: 2.4
GPU clock - 1000mhz
Mem clock - 900mhz
Fan control - 100%

These settings have been applied using the Catalyst Control Centre - AMD Overdrive

So now for the results!

420MH/sec with poclbm.exe -v -w128
Temp: 56C !!!! (this part just blows me away)

I'm about to start playing around with Phoenix and see if that gives me any better results!

Allmost Smiley

The highest I got, using windows(windows tools seems to give me higher overclock) was the following.

Tools used:
-AMD GPU Clock Tool for HD 5850/5780
-MSI Afterburner

HD 5850 at 1150 mhz gpu @ 1.275v / 1250 mhz mem (stock voltage)

GPU temp @ 100% furmark testing maxed out at 62c (airconned room, no case)

crunching speed: 445mhash/s

Yeah I'm expecting it to get higher but they haven't moved yet.  I'm running each in seperate boxes at the moment and am planning getting a few more tomorrow in a single box.

I'll give the AMD GPU Clock Tool for HD 5850/5780 a try and see what I can push out of it!

So I tried the tool and could adjust the clocks fine but it immediately set the fan control back to auto and the temps jumped up.  I've set it back with AMD Overdrive and fans at 100%

Do you know of any fan control I could use?  The GPU clock tool doesn't appear to be able to handle the fans.

You use both tools together, GPU tool for voltages and afterburner to adjust fan speed.

in fact, they amazingly good for virtually ANY DP-precision computation.

Awesome thanks.  It just locked up on me trying to go over 1000 so I think I might just leave it at that Smiley

Definitely a great bang for buck card.  I thought this to be important considering the estimate difficulty rise of about 80% in 2 days!

Now I'm using Afterburner for all settings.

1000mhz GPU
610mhz memory
default voltage

Still pushing 420MH/sec @ 60C now Smiley

Ye, depending on your budget any of the following is among the best bang for buck on the market:

HD5830 , HD5850 and HD5870
