I can confirm, we are planning a series 4 Silver Wallet, and the initial target is mid-to-late summer.  Now I guess I gotta get off my lazy butt and draw up the guidelines for this design competition, huh...

Do you have an estimate price per coin? I'd be interested in picking up more silver wallets depending on the price. Also please get rid of those airtities with rings in them.

surely a 1/2 or even 1/4 oz makes much more sense if its solid gold?

A quarter ounce gold coin would be too small for the private key and hologram most likely. Half ounce could be the same diameter or close as the silver coins but would be quite thin.

- Yes, we're interested in doing a special issue coin, solid gold is on the table but we're playing with design options
- We're considering a run of around 25 coins - fewer and the premiums would be killer, more would be difficult due to the cost of the batch run and we'd probably have to get pre-order guarantees if we were to go above 25
- We can't use existing dies from previous runs because gold is more dense than silver, and the coin dimensions would be smaller, so we have to either re-make dies with a previous design, come up with new artwork, or mix in another metal to alloy with to achieve the same dimensions to be able to re-use previous dies.  I mention this because it will obviously affect the pricing based on how much work/money needs to be put into the solution
- The coin would be most likely 1oz.  As mentioned by others, with gold anything smaller will not fit everything needed.  It won't be larger, as even at 1oz it's a smaller market due to the cost
- We have not discussed the holos, numbering, engraving/stamping or anything like that yet.  I think there will be some sort of marking to make it a special issue series, just not sure what yet.

Pricing is very hard to speculate right now until we figure out more of the technical parts.  If we have enough interest that we know we'd sell out, premiums could be adjusted accordingly, but we're so far away from that right now it's not worth any larger discussion.

This will not take away from our desire to issue a "normal" Series 4 coin in the traditional silver & silver/gold gilt like the past.  Stay tuned for more information on that.

Most likely pricing would be around where the other series have been, but that's currently being discussed and we won't know until we get all the numbers in.  Silver spot has been reasonably cheap lately so if it stays where it is, that will help.

As for the air-tites, sure we can look at options for direct fit.

Have you considered using gold other than 99.9 purity? There's upsides and downsides to using less pure gold, the upside being it's easier to drum up interest due to the cheaper price (and it helps you as you need less capital to produce your initial run), the downside being that people might not be as allured by the coins if they aren't completely pure.

If you make a gold coin less than one ounce or less than .999 fine collectors tend to lose interest. Titan already has the funded gold coin market covered and they seem not to be interested in selling an unfunded coin. Silver Wallet could appeal to those collectors who want an unfunded gold coin as long as the premium over spot gold is reasonable, certainly no more than Titan charges. Also decoration with silver plating should probably be avoided.

Yeah, 3rd point above was about looking at mixing another alloy in to keep diameter, and it would also lessen the cost.

But BitcoinNewsMagazine is right, if you start mixing in and taking away the purity, it's not the same to collectors.

Each wallet ships with 3 self-stick holograms.  Once the code is put into the spot on the coin, you take a hologram and slap it over the code.  The hologram is only sticky around the edges, so it won't stick to the code and have any chance of destroying it.

The holograms are tamper-proof, meaning that if they are peeled, there's a residual part of the sticker left there so it can't be stuck back on over itself and look like it was never touched.  The residue can be cleaned off and a brand new holo applied for re-use, which makes these rounds useful longer.

Last time I spoke to Blazed (a while ago), he said that he was still contemplating whether or not it is worth it. Something about previous supplier becoming too expensive or along those lines. So we might not see D4 but I sure hope it will happen. These coins are honestly some of the highest quality physical crypto I've ever held in my hand. And I've actually held a wide variety through this last year.

Hopefully Blazed or Mitchell knows more and can put our minds at ease.
