NEW THREAD NEW DEV TEAM https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1016182.0

This is the updated OP. Our apologies it took so long to get done, and for being kind of quiet for the past week. We've had our heads down working on all the goodies announced in the post below, and some other things coming down the pipeline. We will not be posting a roadmap today, but we will be sharing what's ahead over the coming weeks. We understand that we need to communicate more and be more visible. You have our word that we will be doing so going forward.

Today's launches are considered BETA versions of the wallets. We believe in thoroughly testing everything exhaustively before we do a release. We have tested this code for a week now and everything checks out fine on our local machines. We are now pushing it to the live network and will be watching it closely over the coming days. Linux binary will be up this coming week, apologies for the delay. If you experience any issues please either PM us here or post on the thread.

Logo Contest
___________

One of the members of the community stepped forward and offered a 35000ASN bounty for a new logo. Thanks go to user8x8. We're going to go ahead and run the contest starting now. Make your entries by posting them in the thread below. The contest will run for about 1 week. All of the entries will then be posted in a poll, and the logo that gets the most votes will become the new logo. The ASN team reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it is a copy of an existing brand, or is obscene.

If you wish to include proposed new graphics for the wallet splash screen and twitter background, you are free to include those as well. Thank you for the support and good luck!

The Ascension has begun.

  • Name: Ascension (ASN)
  • Algorithm: QuBit (in order: luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, echo)
  • Target block time: 120 second block time
  • Proof: PoW + PoS Hybrid
  • Duration: PoW Ends at Block 8500 (7 days mining)
  • Note: block 1 contains 225,000 premine, blocks 2 to 100 are empty and used for the 2 checkpoints to secure the blockchain.
  • PoW Block Reward: 101 - 8500 = Reward is equal to previous block number
  • Total PoW period coins: ~18,366,434.32052889
  • PoS initiation: Block 50 (it runs concurrent with PoW)
  • Mininum PoS stake age: 12 hours min coin stake age
  • PoS block reward: 20% Annual Interest on Staked coins
  • Pre-mine: 1.22 % of estimated total coin
  • Max Clock Drift: 1 hours + or -
  • TCP port Main: Main: 6225  RPC: 6224
  • TCP port Testnet: Main: 16225  RPC:16224

The first 86 blocks were mined prior to launch. Block 1 contained the pre-mine. Blocks 2 through 86 were empty blocks. A checkpoint was set to secure the network. The first block after this post will be block 87.

SAMPLE CONF:

Quote
rpcuser=yourusername
rpcpassword=yourpassword
rpcallowip=yourip
rpcport=6224
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1

Two seed-nodes are hard-coded into the wallet. Add-nodes in the conf file are not required.

The new Ascension wallet BETA is here! You can download it from the links at the top of this post. It contains a few new features that will be elaborated on below. In short, it now has a block explorer inside the wallet itself, has in-wallet encrypted messaging (which we call AscendChat), and contains coin-join mixing technology (which we call AscendSend). Without further ado, on to the details:

AscendChat is encrypted in-wallet chat. You simply click on messages and then select the address you want to chat from, and the address you want to chat to. Enter your message and click send. Then click OK. Your message is now sent. You can now chat back and forth, securely, with anyone you wish.

AscendSend is essentially the coin-join feature with an ASN tweak or two. The nodes have been set up with 5001ASN on each for mixing purposes. This is required in order for it to mix coins properly. The current limit on AscendSend is 5000ASN per transaction. This may be increased in the near future, but for now, don't send over 5000ASN in one transaction. This process requires a specific order of actions to achieve the desired result of sending through the coin-mixer.

1. Create a new wallet address and label it 'mixer'
 2. Send the amount of coins you want to send to your new 'mixer' address
 3. Wait for ~25 confirmations to pass.
 4. Enable coin control from the advanced features options in the wallet. Check how many coins are located in the wallet called mixer and how many confirmations have passed for the mixer address balance.
 5. Go to the send coins page in the wallet.
 6. Enter the destination address.
 7. Enter the amount of coins you want to mix (To a maximum limit of 5000)
 8. Select the 'sendanon' checkbox
 9. Press send and wait for a short amount of time for the notification to return. You will see a smaller amount in the notification due to the process splitting up the TX in to smaller amounts.
 10. The mixers will now process the smaller TX then send into the block chain to the destination address.

Android Wallet
___________

The staking android wallet for ASN is complete. We want ASN to have a lot of mobile options, and this is the first step towards that goal. It is completed, and is in final testing stage right now. It did not make this update, but it will be released this coming week. Below are two preview screenshots. The first is an android phone, the second is an android tablet:

The proof of work period has ended. Ascension is fully proof of stake. Many thanks to the pools who hosted ASN during the PoW stage. They're listed below in slots 2, 3, 4. If you'd like to acquire ASN you have two options. You can mine on a multi-pool and get paid in ASN (see slot 1 below), or you can buy it on an exchange (see the section below this one.)

Many thanks to the exchanges currently hosting ASN. They're listed below in slots 1, 2, 3. If you run an exchange and are interested in adding ASN, please contact us here via PM or email us at: AscensionDev@yahoo.com

Many thanks to the service providers who've added ASN. These include Coinmarketcap in slot 1, block explorers: in slot 2 - Cryptoid, 3 - Cryptoplorer, 4 - CryptoBE, countmycrypto in slot 5, and our first faucet by coinia in slot 6. If you run a service and are interested in adding ASN, please contact us here via PM or email us at: AscensionDev@yahoo.com

We're not  big believers in making a lot of hype and noise without substance. We prefer to work on features and services until they're completed and thoroughly tested, and then release them. We'll be better communicating what's incoming from now on. We'll listen to feedback. We'll keep working hard for the ASN community. Achievements, News, Features and Services will be listed below as added.

Current pre-mine resides at this address: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/asn/address.dws?12.htm As you can see, that puts the pre-mine at the #25 wallet on the rich-list. These coins aren't for our personal use. They're for the benefit of the coin, to be used for bounties to acquire needed features and services for Ascension. We've begun utilizing the pre-mine for exactly that. The available bounties are as follows:

Translation - 4000ASN
Promotional art/graphics - 4000ASN
Paper wallet generator - 5000ASN
Gambling/dice - 5000ASN
Web wallet - 20000ASN
Twitter tipbot - 30000ASN
Mobile wallet - 50000ASN (Android, IOS, Windows)

Android PAID - https://chainz.cryptoid.info/asn/address.dws?AW4D6mPUTCzqHv3McgD86AHHfS6FXQQEMc.htm
French translation PAID - https://chainz.cryptoid.info/asn/address.dws?AeFcNaGMbMs2arG9o4tvCgtQmMAYFyr4tH.htm

Please DON'T do the work for any of these bounties until you PM us and get our approval. We don't want you to do all that hard work if someone has already staked a claim to it. The finished product must function properly to be paid the bounty. (this includes translations NOT being google translate) If you believe you can add something worthy of a bounty that isn't listed here, please PM us or post it on the thread.

WePayBTC.com algorithm-switching multipool is running a special promotion: 580 ASN per 100% payout.
So AMD R9 280X will give you about 520 ASN per day, R9 290 about 580 ASN.

This is very profitable, about 0.00178 BTC per day for R9 290 if you are planning to sell on bittrex or keep it and stake.

WePayBTC will be processing payouts internally from wallet AJ45nABr7ZNyUXRoSxb3CADC3tyG7aBDQA.

Their pool only works with AMD GPUs (no, you can't rent hashrate, you need to have your own equipment). Follow the steps here, but use your ASN address instead of BTC address.
You will see your expected daily income in ASN in the miner application:

PS: Promo is running for 1 week or until ASN price is over 500 satoshi [whichever happens earlier], then the price will be adjusted.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

PoS is running concurrently with PoW. The 8500 total blocks will be a mix of PoS and PoW. It's estimated ~5000 blocks will be PoW, the remainder will be PoS. The PoS blocks are not ascending rewards, they are a set %.
