Astro Boy and Speed Racer.
While on a business trip to Kyoto a few years back I saw statues of Astro Boy (actually "Mighty Atom" in Japan) everywhere. For those interested Astro Boy's creator, Osamu Tezuka, is considered the father of Manga.

In no particular order: Underdog Popeye The Flintstones Rocky and Bullwinkle ( and the others like Peabody and Sherman ) Top Cat Gumby Woody Woodpecker Huckleberry Hound Quickdraw McGraw Deputy Dog Magilla Gorilla Peter Potamus Bugs Bunny ( and the rest of the Looney Tunes cast ) The Beatles Cartoon Pink Panther Mister Magoo DoDo, The Kid From Outer Space George of the Jungle ( and Tom Slick and Super Chicken ) These are the originals from the 60s, or even earlier, and not later lame remakes. And I am sure I am leaving out many...

A lot of Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner. And the Mysterious Cities of Gold (recently out on DVD, and a new series announced) for its golden condor and temple traps. Oh, and Terrahawks. These days it's hard to find good stuff as a parent. Baby Jake is pretty trippy though...

Speaking of John Kricfalusi ( who also worked on the excellent -Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures- with Ralph Bakshi ). Has anyone been following what he has been doing lately? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1056985656/john-ks-cans-without-labelsHe is a true innovator and creative force... something exceedingly rare in terms of cartoons these days. You can see modern "animators" ripping off the whole Ren & Stimpy style everywhere you look... I wonder if he could be persuaded to accept bitcoins in donation?

Has anyone been following what he has been doing lately? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1056985656/john-ks-cans-without-labelsHe is a true innovator and creative force... something exceedingly rare in terms of cartoons these days. You can see modern "animators" ripping off the whole Ren & Stimpy style everywhere you look... I wonder if he could be persuaded to accept bitcoins in donation? update on the kickstarter campaign: Hi everyone Hey I think I need some more help to make sure we make it over the hump. The pledge rate has slowed in the last few days and Cans is trending to just squeak by the finish line. But if it continues to slow, then we won't make it! So for those of you have already pledged - thanks loads, but if you have been thinking about it and haven't yet.....BE A MAN! Or a WOMAN! Or even something less gender specific - but let's get this thing done! This campaign is not only important to get Cans Without Labels made, it's also important just to show that this model of cartoon creation is viable. If it works this time, we may have discovered a way to make the kind of cartoony cartoons -with lots of custom drawings and acting that you just can't get on TV. No middle managers this way! You are the decision makers.I have more cartoons, toys and projects to share with you once this one gets funded, so MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR US! Revive "Creator Driven Cartoons" with me. Oh and check out http://www.nerdist.com/2012/08/john-kricfalusis-canned-laughter/at Nerdist.com for a written interview I did yesterday talking about all kinds of fun crap! Ask all your friends and family to do this thing! Show Granny how the internets works and get her to dip into her stinky sock full of cash. Thanks again for all the support! Your pal, John K.
