Do all CPUs--no matter their strength--produce the same amount of coins at the same rate?
If not, can I give the Bitcoin application the highest priority on a system and dedicate all of the CPUs power to Bitcoin production? Will this produce more coins compared to running the application normally?

Better CPUs can hash more data per second. If not, can I give the Bitcoin application the highest priority on a system and dedicate all of the CPUs power to Bitcoin production? Will this produce more coins compared to running the application normally? It'll already use 100% of the CPU's capacity if nothing else wants to. Setting priority just says, "If CPU resources are scarce, prefer the higher-priority program over the lower one." |

afaik it doesnt really matter if you set the priority manually because bitcoins creates new threads everytime it generates a block and these threads have a low (?) priority by default.
correct me when i'm wrong.

No. The BitCoins you receive for generating a block are a payment to you by the system for you work towards extending the block chain. You have invested money (by way of electricity and hardware wear) in the generation of the block chain, and are receiving compensation for that work. |

It would be no more unethical than you getting a cluster of earth diggers together to mine gold. With Bitcoin there is no central authority. Everything is essentially public and only subject to the rules of the free market. Do what you like. I see you're pretty new, and may think mining coins is easily profitable. It's not. I remember way back when I could mine tens of btc per day with less than 100mh  Just imagine taking the a 100gh machine back in time for a day  |

I remember way back when I could mine tens of btc per day with less than 100mh Just imagine taking the a 100gh machine back in time for a day Then send it back and watch how time between blocks drops to days or weeks instead of 10 minutes due to difficulty adjustments. By the time you're back in 2013 bitcoin will have died a gruesome death and be absolutely worthless because nothing gets processed with about 4 die hards still clinging on and trying to mine a block that should have dropped 2,5 years ago. |

You're entirely right. The easiest way to counter this would be to turn on the miner for ~1 minute every ~10 minutes. Then everything stays in check |
