Yes this is human behaviour I think.
Although I'm not telling them that Bitcon will hit the moon. Cheesy
I'm just speaking about the tech in general and it's disruptive potential and what the internet, world could look like in 10+ years.
Even my computer science professor was extremely sceptic and thought it's just a scam and use by criminals until I hold a 30 minute presentation about history of money, internet and crypto currencies. Now he seems to see these things a bit different.

Yep, happened to me too.
What I use to do is to speak of Bitcoin as a very interesting and promising project, not like the ticket to the mon. I tell about good points and weak points and I try to not insist too much.
And if people start mocking me I only tell "we'll see what the future holds".

When I talk to friends or family about bitcoin, I generally don't bring up what I think the price will do.  This always leads to them mocking or thinking I am crazy, even though it is my belief and I don't judge them for the investments they make.

Instead, I mostly stay towards the positive attributes about bitcoin, and why it could be so successful.  Things like instant money changing and cheap fees to send money anywhere in the world are topics I generally hit upon.  This type of speaking usually has them agreeing with me and wanting to know more.

You think that's bad, espouse about Bitcoin goin' to da moon around fellow Bitcoiners if you wanna get shunned some more. You're putting yourself in the position to getting ridiculed.

Pretend you're a Christian. Do you think you'll get more converts to your beliefs if you simply showed virtuousness on a daily basis oppose to vocalizing, "Thou shall not fuck thy neighbor's [DOGE] dog!" because such is written in every Bible conveniently found in most hotel rooms where husbands take their secretaries to dictate a memo?

It's actually really simple. You're left with two choices:
1) Try to discuss with them and explain to them why Bitcoin is good. Actually, you're right here because Bitcoin is better than the traditional systems.
2) If they refuse to listen to reason, dump all of them. You don't need to waste time on neanderthals.

Just don't do it next time. don't think they will believe what you are saying but just let them be curious instead. Most people are usually interested to criminals that got away and if you tell tales about criminals or ISIS using bitcoin for their funding, they be asking for more. thats when you try to strike what you believe about its value.. but still don't over rate it about going to the moon. the terrorist funding is exaggerated already  Grin

First they ignore/dismiss you.
Next, they ridicule/mock you.
After that, they fight you.
Then you win.

When choosing between friends/family and Bitcoin, choose Bitcoin.

Some one really close to me always tells me "Are you still into that Bitcoin thingy?" "When is it going to implode?" I just laugh at that person and tell him to ask me the same question again after a few years. I explained everything about Bitcoin but the media effect is too strong at this point.

If you tell your relatives that BTC will reach the moon, I don't think they would take it seriously anyway. I also feel at times that people treat bitcoins as some magic machine that can yield them a lot of profit in seconds.

I tried to talk a friend last month about accepting bitcoin payments for his service and he dint take me seriously as he doesn't get buyers who want to use this currency nor he is interested in having a currency that is dependent on USD/EUR and so on.

Bitcoin is still new and not as popular as Visa Debit Cards, PayPal and other payment modes that it could be thought about by other customers/vendors.

Anything aside from reaction that you get, won;t be considered normal so what you needed to do in the first place was to take baby steps when you open up those kind of discussion in which they don't know BTCitcoin itself. You never should introduce it because it's price is going to go way up but rather educate them by benefits it brings or by limitations it passes by. Best and easiest way is to download some of YouTube videos that known BTCitcoin speakers are in and let them watch it and sure enough the impact is far greater than anyone of us doing it (proven and tested with my own family, 1 any half hours of video conference watched all together).

Just tell them you believe the concept of being in charge of your own money. If people don't believe in Bitcoin the currency, they must believe on blockchain technology or at least the concept... No way of denying that storing your own money securely is infinitely better than giving it to banks. People will start thinking differently if you show them the basic concept.

I don't see why you would care if anyone mocks you for using Bitcoin; I use Bitcoin (obviously) and I occasionally get mocked when I tell people, but I don't care and brush it off.

If anything, if Bitcoin does end up taking off, you will be able to mock them, and even if it doesn't take off, you're at least making money in the downtime between your job and your personal life.

Well as you i said to friends that price should grow as more people use the coin, the anwser were no one use and even know about it soo how it get value ?I said its the demand and supply, community makes the fluctuations happens. My advice is dont try to talk with them about it as they dont believe in bitcoin, when you convert or buy something with bitcoin and let they see maybe they change their mind, and when you make an investment and get the good return expexted to happen.
