People mocking of me for using Bitcoin

I get that too, then I explain that it's a hobby and that in certain cases I use my miners (the cheap USB ones) to help science.
Than I talk about Bitcoin Utopia, then BOINC, then how spare cpu cycles can make a difference.

When they get that, I get back on topic saying that decentralised/non gvt controlled finance can help too.

When they're clever they get it, when they're not interested I just buy them another drink

Anyone of you had this kind of situation ? personally,whenever I start speaking about Bitcoin and how it will go to the moon and that kind of stuff , some of people start mocking (Friends  , Family etc ..) .
I personally don't know how to respond in most cases honestly , I just believe bitcoin will become successful .

Well I know how it feels, mate. It happens to me too every time when I start talking about something people have no idiea of among those people. In old times people killed for saying something they don't understand, so I guess we are lucky to be born nowadays. )

We all get a share of this every now and then. Best is not worrying much about that, if it goes to the moon we all are going to be happy, if it does not, well ... perhaps the mockers would never know.

Well ignorant people will always mock you. This is not something new at all.
The best medicine is too wait patiently while ignoring them. In the end we all know bitcoin already has succeeded in it's goals.

Yeah i fully understand what you are saying, but this goes for any thing in life, most people hate any sort of change.  for a while i argued, but now i have a wait and see sort of attitude, i believe bitcoin will be massive some day and the  "i told you so factor is going to feel great"

Yes this is human behaviour I think.
Although I'm not telling them that Bitcon will hit the moon.
I'm just speaking about the tech in general and it's disruptive potential and what the internet, world could look like in 10+ years.
Even my computer science professor was extremely sceptic and thought it's just a scam and use by criminals until I hold a 30 minute presentation about history of money, internet and crypto currencies.Now he seems to see these things a bit different.

Well there is a small possibility something this extreme will happen. but i understand what you mean.
Remember that bitcoin is accepted in many shops already there is no such thing of a failed project or a scam.

You can be proud and when they mock you make sure to say you are part of a true revolution.

Yes, my sister who is a financial whiz.

But she also told me buying Apple stock in 1998 was stupid, and the very fact that I even was considering is exactly why "people like me" should just buy mutual funds. I listened to her.

Lesson I learned, she may be a financial whiz but sometimes she is very very very wrong.

This happens with most users who try making it get spread with neighbours and friends. This mocking, fun making, teasing will  fade off when the future gets increased adoptions.

that's a bad experience almost all of us here ever had. it's usual mate. don't be sad. just prove them you will be reach with this stuff. then show them, so they won't mock you any longer and maybe start following your stepfoot.

I know what you feel man. I also feel that when introduce bitcoins to my friends and my family. There are not trust bitcoin and feel like bitcoins can't earn real money.

So just stop shilling bitcoin to your friends and family. I would also lol and ignore anyone who would constantly be nagging me about how some invention is great and will go to moon.

Bitcoin was on the moon already. Once it was worth over $1200. Since than its lost half its value. Not very good advertisement for ppl who bough btc at $1000.

I personally don't talk about bitcoin with any of my friends and even with my own family, I know that they would do the same, might mock me too specially if they know that the price is so high and yet I am not earning big..

maybe you should reduce the amount of talking about the going to moon part and focus on benefits of using bitcoin instead of that.

besides people are usually ignorant of these stuff until it is too late. don't worry too much about them. you just introduce bitcoin as it is. the part about price going to the moon is speculation and is not good to tell someone before everything else.
