Clueless!

God, I just stumbled across this thread again 5 years later. Can't believe how close I was to making an order. I feel bad for everyone who got scammed, Alpha Technology sure has taught me to be more cautious in the crypto space...

I made an order but used a credit card (Amex) with the 1/3 down via Paypal. PayPal denied my order as being more than 45 days, I did not file a dispute in time.

Then at first Amex denied my refund of 1/3. Until I pointed out how Alpha Tech strung me along. Also beyond the time limit, but Amex listened,

even after the dispute time (45 days) had run out. Also pointed out that they sent as proof my PAID IN FULL (as stamped) order, I pointed out the 1/3 down

only paid scammer way they were rolling on all this to PayPal.  When in fact, again,

I only paid (like everyone) via PayPal for 1/3 down. They saw that and from what I heard from them later they hit Alpha's Paypal Bank account so hard with other refunds

the bank cut them off. So got my $$$ back by the skin of my teeth. Always, always use the credit card option with PayPal. Even if PayPal says

no go, you can at least appeal to the credit card place. Amex is great, never lost a dispute. This was the closest I came in that I had to appeal.

Dumb frigging luck.

The same miracle with Butterfly Labs refunds after a year of denial. I happened to be one of the FEW refunded 1 week before the SEC

closed BFL down. I think they were trying to hold off the SEC by showing some refunds. It did not work, but I did get a big surprise 1 year after losing

all hope.

I was a 'clueless' 'kool-aid' drinking newbie, back in the day. Lucky as f*ck! I look at some of the clueless stuff I tossed Bitcoin/Crypto at and did not

get burnt and just shake my head in dismay. The 'kool-aid' was strong back in 2013 onward.....less so today. Now I just HODL. Smiley

So, did anyone from this corrupt company go to jail yet? What exactly does it take?
Hopefully Justice is served.

Nope. The went back to India I read, with all that nice BTC. Smiley

I got my 1/3 down pre-order back from Amex Card used with Paypal, even after both Paypal and Amex denied it.

I re-submitted a dispute with American Express ...pointing out that the bill they sent to Amex as proof I was past the 60-day dispute

limit (unless you file another appeal which I did) that said PAID IN FULL ...but awaiting shipping. I then pointed out to Amex that

I only paid 1/3 for the unit, it was not paid in full as stated, and showed them the Paypal screenshots ..Amex was really, really,

pissed off, took I think bank to task got mine and a mess of other $$ back in some manner and that was the last you heard of them.

Except somewhere on this thread they went back to India that nice commonwealth country under the U.K. to live with the Alpha Tech Spoils

without any consequences.

Anyway, surprised they never  locked up this thread, newbie scammer mistake....but at the time 1/3 down seemed fine with PayPal

but in the end, PayPal said screw you after the 45-day delay (they never shipped anything) and those who did not have the credit card option

who did not get a refund in 60 days (more if you filed a dispute under that timeline) also mostly got shafted!

Dumb luck and newbie bad forged paid documents by them to Amex is what saved me Smiley

I got screwed so hard on this.  Cry

16 BTC gone to alphatech UK + 10 btc gone to flowertech Canada, never recovered from it, been broke since this happened in 2014.

I am now waiting 3 years to be with the woman I love who lives in another country, my company failed from lack of funds.

These scrypt asic companies destroyed my life.

I sued them through small claims in the UK and waited in line for about a year or so. I had one order for the 50 and one for the 250. My case came up and presented all evidence and got my $11k back plus lawyer fees plus interest paid at 8% or so. The final total was about $18,300k paid back, 7k in lawyer fees. it was nerve wrecking especially after paying lawyers in the UK so much after sinking so much.  paid back in June 2018.

I sic'd American Express on them Dispute...then Amex 'denied' the refund....they sent me a copy of the bill they were sent from Alpha saying 'paid in full'...I showed

them I did not pay them in full and indeed only the min fee of what was it like 1/3 via paypal and proved they lied with the Paid in Full invoice (.jpg) ...first time

I ever heard an Amex Dispute Rep say 'assholes' and don't worry about it. On follow up, from what I understand, Amex had access to some account they used and refunded

everyone using their cards via that account until Alpha shut it down..the principals I heard fled back to India keeping all that nice BTC. Sad

Anyway, I only got the small unit ...so I think I was only down $600 bucks..but it was nice to know that Amex then used my case to refund everyone and got thousands

back till they killed the bank account...

anyway...the assholes got away with it clean

I think we have heard your story quite a few times. Thanks for that. It probably helped things move along. At the time of the sale the 50mh was $2000 and the 250mh was about $8000.

I don’t think they got away with too much honesty, they did drag it out and probably paid themselves a salary so dragging it out was beneficial to them but in my case, I did get an email right when the order came out against them offering to refund the money. I didn’t take it unlike someone else on this forum cause they said no lawyers fees. Well, after $11k was paid for machines, I also spent $7k for lawyers fees and a huge risk. The email they sent out before the payday is a way for them to avoid paying the lawyers fees and interest. I declined and the next few days I got the judgement for the original amount I paid for the miners, interest, and every penny I had paid to the lawyers. One thing did change was the exchange rate from dollars to pounds. But in the end I think I made a tiny bit more than everything spent. Although, it was brutal paying almost 60% of the amount you are suing for with no guarantee.

I paid ~$11k to them and $7k to the lawyers and they paid me $18k. So they are at a -$7k loss on just my order. Only thing that helped them was that only one judgement at a time which took a couple months. So that was their reason to drag it out

yeah..hard to tell..who knows about my story (or yours sometime in the future) with how infrequent people post on this thread..why Alpha never killed  isthis thread is a mystery

to me...but anyway.....there were very few who pulled off a refund...I remember a couple folk saying they also had luck with MasterCard and PayPal (Paypal was slammed in

a week when the how too was posted on how to do that and what to say on dispute with them...so it was pretty brief..also listed in the past on here)

but ....no asic maker since around 2013-2014 has ever taken PayPal and been legit since then...the original KNC miner took paypal ..back in the day and some others

but you could not 'scam' people..so the rule of thumb for me was if it takes paypal..it likely is a scam to wait out beyond shipping you a supposed unit after 45 days

(or 60 if you have a credit card) with promises and then walking...again...not worth the hassle on your scam asic miner to do paypal...and a pain for legit

asic makers if you got a lemon..thus ..that option with asic makers kinda went poof after 2014...sad to say
