Title: ANN CryptoPennies X11 PoW ended.
Post by: CryptoPennies on June 23, 2015, 09:26:04 PM
CryptoPennies is a new crypto that starts off with a small set value. Each coin is backed by at least 1 cent (about 4000 satoshis) which will be placed as a buy order on exchanges trading the coin.

Algorithm X11

Ticker - CRPS

Block 1 to 5  5 Coins (Premine)  25Coins total
Block 6 to 750 Instamine Protection
Block 751 to 1250  1 Coin = 449 Coins
Block 1251 to 2500 0.5 Coin = 624.5 Coins
Block 2501 to 4500 0.25 Coin = 374.75 Coins
Block 4501 to 5500 0.10 Coin = 99.9 Coins

Block Time - 60 Seconds

Proof Of Stake
0.01 per Block for 1000 Blocks starting @ Block 5000

1593.15 Coins total.

The value of the coin can be increased in many ways.
-Donations to general fund
-Mining costs
-Community Value
-Coin burning by coin owners or development team.

With a total amount of 1593.15 coins the opening market cap will be $15.93. If you would like to help raise the initial value of CryptoPennies you can donate BTC to
1GxNu1iUZZoJ9jH9dyQHFr3P4mC8QvmgzK
This is not an ICO. The donations will be divided over the total amount of coins to raise the value of mined/staked coins

If you decide to burn some CryptoPennies you can burn them by sending them here (address provided at wallet launch)

Any CryptoPennies purchased by the development team at the set value will be burned.

With mining costs the coin will hold its 1 cent value easily but with the coin burning and donation program CryptoPennies is poised to be one of the most valuable and hard to obtain alternate cryptocurrencies on the market.

why you need 10 hours of 'instamine protection' ?
-Maybe to watch all the idiots hash into it at launch for no reward (should have looked at specs)
-Maybe to annoy you. Nobody else. Just you.
-Maybe because instamine protection provides a great countdown for actual mining.
-Maybe we are just mean like that
Grab a sharp crayon and circle the one you think is a good answer. Right on the screen.

After i get verification that testing went well i will release the wallets to the community. Launch should happen in under 24 hours and i will keep you posted on any changes if needed.

No. Investors are wise. I am talking about people who attend launches and don't read coin specs. Then when they realize that they mined for hours with no coin reward they come back to the thread and complain.  I am guessing you are one of the few people who actually read about the coin and apparently have read the whole thread. Congrats to you! You are an investor!

so is the only way the get these by donating? Or is that just to help establish a marketcap?

Title: Re: PRE-ANN CryptoPennies X11
Post by: CryptoPennies on June 24, 2015, 08:59:47 PM
chris190 = We are hammering out a few issues and will have a countdown clock up soon.

coinking = The donations are only to boost the starting market cap with an actual value. All donations will be used to buy coins on the exchange if the price drops to the set bottom value. Coins purchased by the development team will be burned to hold the value of the remaining coins. If all coins are sold to the development team the project is over and miners will be able to walk away with something. Not much but something.

With more donations we can raise the set value of the coin at launch. With 1773.15 coins total every $17.74 we get in donations raises the price of each coin by 1 cent (about 4000 satoshis)

so when are you looking to get on an exchange?
We have to launch the coin first. During or after the anti-instamine period is when we will look for an exchange. If any exchanges want to get on early we gladly appreciate the help.
Exchange owners can send us an email at CryptoPennies@gmail.com if they would like a notification that the coin is ready so we can get the value wall up a.s.a.p.

Premine there is 1.5%, that's nothing compared to all those ninjas that launched with >10% instamine.

You do not need to hash into it with all you have right now. Wait a couple hours when rewards kick in. Save your power, I bought a small rig to keep it moving. 750 is the magic number :)

The OP states the staking reward is .2 coins per block but the code seems to indicate it is .01.

int64_t nHeight = pindexBest->nHeight;
   if (nHeight > 5000 && nHeight < 6000) {

       if (nHeight < 6000)
           nSubsidy = 0.01 * COIN;

Please advise.

Thank you for catching that. Since we are already mining i think the best course is to change the PoS specs advertised and continue on.  I will send out notification to everyone so they know. Thanks again.

I changed the advertised specs. This only reduced to coin count by 100 coins so total possible coins has been reduced to 1673.15

The team will introduce features as we go. Remember the coin has a set value and the base value can be increased by donating to the address listed.
If the price drops to the set value we will buy and burn the coins with the set value donation fund. As soon as the BTC confirms we will have a set value wall on Yobit.

Please explain how the coin has a "set value".  That makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

The coin is valued at whatever the trade value is.  If anything the value is set by what it costs to mine, not just some arbitrary number you came up with...

Yes. Each coin has a backed value. I am moving money into Yobit to back it. Walls will be placed on every exchange that lists the coin and if people sell the coins for the backed value the coins get burned.

I have backed the coin with my 20 bucks and people have donated about 20 bucks. So i am supposed to pay an escrow guy which is usually 50ish bucks?  Now if donations were big enough to warrant an escrow i would do that.

Since almost nobody has donated there would be no funds to do that unless i gave them all of the donation money to pay them to hold nothing.

I am willing to give whoever holds the escrow account 1% of all donations we get. Must be a trusted member of the community and be vetted by the trusted people in this thread. I started this coin with a backed value so nobody gets screwed over so you can understand my lack of trust in everyone that is in crypto right now.

Since the donation fund needs to be set up as a wall on the exchange to buy coins people don't want maybe i can talk to Yobit about something. This way Yobit can hold the BTC and burn the CRPS sold into that wall.

A guaranteed exit value that is currently 1/30th of mining cost. Hope you got some big plans ahead.

I am currently looking for an exchange that will escrow the set value funds. When we have all of our safeties in place would you be willing to donate 1 dollar? Any little bit of dust helps. Right now the set value is 1/30th of the mining cost but with more donations we can make that higher. I am not asking you to trust me with your money because i wouldn't trust you with a dime of my cash. That is just crypto. Lets get a trusted exchange owner involved to make this more secure.

Sent 0.04980000 to donation fund.

Actually I wanted to sent .05 but my fund was on bittrex so they cut off .002.

Don't do the deal with Yobit, wait for a better exchange.

Yobit run a shady dice system that can't pass fair checks and lets you bet more than the house can pay, not a good idea to trust them with the backing funds IMO.

Hard to get on Trex unless you pay the 3 BTC list fee or get mass requests via twitter etc to ad coin.

C-Cex probably a good target, just need to get the hype train going.

Cryptopia is also great and would be good to deal with - but exchange volume is low unfortunately.

I think if we have enough community involvement we can get them to manage our funds. All i am offering is 1% for basically doing nothing but holding a wallet.

Well, I guess, at the moment, you can make a profit from this coin if you have your own rig. Unfortunately, I only have an i5-3450 and AMD 7570, so probably wouldn't be worth it for me to use it to hash.(I despise the high pitched whine the fans make when I try to CPU/GPU mine.) I certainly hope the people who dumped right now didn't rent their own hash. If you did, please let me know where you got the cheap hash... :D
My own personal choice right now is to HODL.

Good afternoon miners!  CryptoPennies is still looking for an exchange owner to hold our donation funds to put up a set value wall. Go talk to exchange owners and lets see what we can do!

Title: Re: ANN CryptoPennies X11 Looking for exchange owner to hold our escrow.
Post by: CryptoPennies on June 27, 2015, 10:00:36 PM
why not create a pool for mining where all fees were to that fund.
Doing that would require us to sell coins to place BTC on the buy wall and that hurts the market. The donation and burn system is a better idea. I have thought a lot about all the ways to do this coin and this really is the best way.

True, crypto success has always been dependent on community involvement and participation. If the community wants it to succeed then they are the ones who need to actively promote and grow.

Indeed. The community needs to have some drive on social media or there will only be exposure to people who have already heard of the coin. Most crypto miners and trader only want to come into the thread and tell us what we need to do instead of doing something.
Market is looking thin on the buy AND sell side and that makes me feel good. This means people are holding.

How about for today we get EVERYONE to bug the C-Cex developer for a listing. Get on the C-Cex trollbox and troll hard people!

Load the page and wait up to 60sec. For some reason it hangs the first time you log in.

*edit*
Looks like SuchPool is down. I will Tweet the devs to see what is up.

*re-edit*
Contacted the dev. Suchpool front end is very congested but pool is running. Your shares are safe and blah blah blah. I pointed a rig at it to make sure and everything looks fine.

Working very well. I will have a dedicated machine set up to keep the blockchain moving after PoS ends. I know that is a concern to most people. Mining for transaction fees could become a good venture.

There are several plans in the works that will work to make CryptoPennies a stable storage medium to keep your coins in the market. We will put out wallet updates in the next few days to make the wallets look nicer. Website in my opinion is not needed but we are creating one to show more real time information on the coins price vs btc price and other cool features (may add to wallet too).
As the project moves on we can grow set value of CRPS by people donating BTC or CRPS. The BTC will raise the overall value of the coin by increasing the price of the low buy wall. BTC donated divided by total coins will always be the set price. Any CRPS that get sold into the set value wall or "donated" to the deletion fund will be burned causing the price to go up on all existing CRPS in circulation.
CRPS is in its infancy right now and will continue to grow. With more community involvement and more exchanges we could go to the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, through the Kuiper belt to the next galaxy.

Oh I'm sorry. Obviously you don't understand what we are trying to do with this coin. I took a look at your history of posts. Looks like you are a pessimistic fudder of senior status. We are not doing a happy feel-good coin here. We are making a coin that has an ACTUAL VALUE. I can put radio stations, blinking lights, charts, trade bots, and all that crap in the wallets right now but what does that actually do for a set value at the end of the day? NOTHING!  By backing the coin with a set value fund it delivers something that other coins cannot.
If you don't like the project you can sell all your CRPS and move along to another coin that is willing to deal with your bullshit.

you see it as fud but i am just responding to what youve said. you said your wall is set based on donations. you say it needs actual value when youve clearly said that you will use donated coins to add to the wall to increase buy wall and any coins dumped will be burnt. 1st no one will dump into a wall of $15 secondly you say you building a coin which has actual value. actual value of a currency is not determined based on burning coins to inflate price but on the use of the coin and clearly the only use you plan to have is burn coins and push up value for coin for no reason. a currency is not for investors but its for people who want to use it in day to day activities.

donations should be used for development not a buy wall lol $15

"more exchanges we could go to the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, through the Kuiper belt to the next galaxy."

this really shows how passionate you are. why are you worried about exchanges adding it so it could go to mars. there are not infinite exchanges like the universe

let others decide whether what im saying is fud lol

Yes we will let the community decide. If you dont like the value of the set price you could always make a donation of BTC or CRPS. The reason we would welcome more exchanges is to get more community exposure. Yobit is nice but we would like to be traded on ALL of the possible exchanges. Yes i am passionate about this coin. This is a solid idea and you can try to pick it apart all you like and i won't stop you. The people who believe in the coin will hold and people like you will sell, go away, and stop trying to down the project.
Really it is simple. If you don't like the coin we are not stopping you from leaving and taking your negativity with you.

As for the plan you mentioned of backing the coin with a precious metal. That is a good idea. after the coin gets more donations maybe we can take 50% of the coins and invest in some metals. I would only like to do that with 50% of the donation funds so we can still have a security net of buyback money for exchanges.
When you are not complaining you come up with some good ideas. Lets stay on the optimistic side eh?

is there any plan for the coin

What this coin has going for it so far is

1.It's a new coin anything can happen

2. It's not another ICO

3. The developer's  still  here with us

4. The wallet is staking  OK

5.Price hasn't tanked yet ! Like most of the new coins lately

Looks like it's off to a good start to me just give it some time

I have some cryptopennies and i will be holding. This plan has a good plan with an absolute dead coin value. Even if it all goes to shit i get some money back. People need to understand that a coin like this with a long term plan is only getting started. Build the coin and keep the community in touch and the value will grow. I see this coin doing very well. Sending a small donation to the cause.

That can't be as I started mining 500 blocks before PoW was announced to end & the Number of Blocks in the Blockchain said the same thing, if that isn't the case then that would mean PoS blocks were being mined while PoW was still happening thus making PoW finish earlier than scheduled.

pow and pos were concurrent towards the end

POW reward
Block 4501 to 5500 0.10 Coin = 99.9 Coins

Proof Of Stake
0.01 per Block for 1000 Blocks starting @ Block 5000

The blockchain has almost stalled as of now (network weight down to 0, one block each 30+ minutes once some coins reach minStakeAge).
If 1 or 2 more staking clients leave the network, it will halt.

Maybe you should consider forking to permanent staking reward of 0.01 crps? It's not that much to really boost the supply but it would be an incentive for people to stake and probably prevent a stuck chain. 1 or 2 staking dev wallets won't be sufficient. :/

We are aware of the slow moving blockchain and are working on a solid way to resolve the problem. If anyone has some ideas we would like to hear them. Whatever issues we have i am committed to fixing them and moving this project along. This is also why i didn't ask for merchants and other services at launch. We need to work out all issues so we can have good merchants and services. CRPS team wants to be the best high value coin in crypto and we will stick with it.
After our infrastructure is working properly we can move to the merchant phase. Great excitement awaits.

I think that one issue is the long maturity requires many smaller inputs rather than large deposits.  It seems to help to send multiple smaller deposits to your wallet than one large one.
each one can stake independently of the others keeping the wallet in a staking mode while other coins are maturing

It appears the only way to get the blockchain moving is to send a transaction (with it's fee). Every time I sent a transaction to myself and paid the minimum fee, the block chain moved up one. We may need to consider giving a small pos reward to get the block chain moving even without a transaction and it's fee.

The code doesn't allow either zero value or zero reward blocks. That means  a transaction is required for a block to become a valid block - either because it's not a zero value or a zero reward block (due to tx fees) that way. I am currently @ work so no time to check the exact cause.

Easy fix would be a minimal PoS reward per block.

All you need to do to make the blockchain move is send a transaction to yourself. It will cost you the transaction fee though. You may get lucky and stake the block, so you get might get it back. If you want to move coins from your wallet to exchange, just send it and then soon after, send two transactions to yourself, and it will be confirmed on yobit. :D

hmm makes me think it would be fun to have a random number generator.
such that the reward is either 0 or 0.01

weighting such that say 90% probability of 0 and 10% of .01

this would slowly move chain along with rewards for stakers, whilst keeping coin count low.
and when someone sends coins, then the tx will trigger a block through fees.

--
however some thought will probably need to go into the handling of staking blocks else they may end up terribly small if the targeting isnt handle deftly.

It wont be enough to add a reward into the block.  My testing seems to indicate that you need to have a transaction fee in each block, the reward POS will not progress the chain.

Because this coin is so low mintage, the transaction fee should be lowered considerably.  Right now it is 0.00001 (Which is the same as the stake reward) it should be lowered to .0000001

Sorry, thats not correct. Simply look at a random PoS block (between block 5000 and 6000) where stake rewards were 0.01 and no additional transaction was included in the block:

http://cryptobe.com/block/2b1593501eae501079813a56aec4015c15a0a47983f5ea311344b7ab8a94d8a7

The first input in that block is the PoS reward generation (PoS  rewards are generated as negative transaction fees), the second input is staked coins split into two inputs (0.25 -> 2x 0.13).

Fixing it would be really, really simple though.

The code may be easy to fix. But the community would also have to get new seed nodes and convince Yobit to accept the hardfork. Or the dev could come back from his "2" day vacation...

What would setting up new seed nodes require?

I am sure yobit can delete the current blockchain and install a new wallet.

my earlier proposition
to make POS generate 10 blocks (or whatever) after every tx, to enable tx to go through.
would make diff retargeting sketchy .. and those 10 blocks would no doubt fly through in 5 seconds.

i'm very sad. because i think that would be an awesome idea when combined with zero reward pos :(

i assume wurstgelee is for adding a minor reward to pos.

as far as yobit concerned surely if there was enough community voice given here. then yobit would accede to a community takeover.

--
seed nodes,
could just delete those in the code. and add some in yr
cryptopenis.conf

oh.
obv a name change to cryptopenis would also be a good idea.

//
maybe tweeting yobit would be useful.

Lets take this coin over and then back with Urea.

Great, the network weight is so low now, the block chain is totally frozen. Sending a transaction won't even move it along. Just call the coin cryptoparalysis. >:(

The chain moved a block today, Woo Hoo!

Unfortunately, it appears the dev has moved on. It appears there are not enough coins eligible to stake now to overcome the minimum difficulty, even with a transaction fee included.

change main.cpp

seed node doesnt even seem up. but for neatness sake
change net.cpp

static const char *strDNSSeed[][2] = {
    {"23.95.121.121", "23.95.121.121"},
};

to

Code:
unsigned int pnSeed[] =

compile it.
distribute to current users >> wont need to change yr data dir at all.
let yobit know.
bobs yr uncle.

this is a pissy little pos reward hopefully in line with the pissy idea of pennies.

..
lol quick google search gives those hex seeds being in cryptcoin, gridcoin, and opalcoin

ha. i made two blocks !!
wiped out a send tx i had lurking unconfirmed and staked them instead :p

no idea if the explorer will catch up or not :D

--
possibly a simpler solution would be to reduce min staking age.
again though yobit would need to get onboard ..

edit.

thought about it.
unless the chain moves regularly it does not seem particularly secure. the word is "trivial" when it comes to someone attempting a longer chain/double spend.

Could we crowdfund paying a developer to fix this?
such as this one:

one solution would be to add an expensive pow protocol such as x13 to keep the chain moving.
and make the block reward piss ant small.
