If your sticks stop mining for 48 hours and we hit a block you don't get a part A share.

All  part B shares earned from nov 11 to dec 11  are paid if we hit. -------- this is pretty cool

you are able to win  btc if we hit a block all hash is pointed at ck's solo pool.

prizes are

Part A = 12 coins    every one gets 1 share  so  if we fill the club to 40  you get .3 btc  -- this favors the little guy with 1 or 2 sticks
Part B = 12 coins    shares are tallied  and you get your shares/by pool shares ------- this favors a big rental like 100 th for a day

Fees  if you hit the block you get the fees it earned.

ck gets his ck  solo pool fee

coin left over is about .75 btc   we will tip ck and send some to sidehack for pod development.

I think your Grand total of shares is wrong, Phil has the biggest share with 1.8 Billion and the only one over 1 Billion ... almost impossible we got 78 Billion total unless I can't read numbers :P

Just displaying it incorrect. The far right column displays total from the new round...  But on the bottom it displays the total of this round plus last round.

As of this post,  4567645083 this round (11 nov+). Add this number plus last round = bottom right cell in the table.

Ill fix this and add the new user when i get home this evening.

block winner gets block fees
ck gets a fee of .125
we have .75 left we tip ck .125 more
and .625 goes to side hack for development of pods.

as to whether you can add a friend  and dilute us to 1/34 of part a yes you can.

we talked about it during the last run.  I mentioned it helps track sticks, but  I think in this run mixing sticks and donated would be fine.

When I setup the over clock contest this weekend


 that stick would need to stand alone to track.

So if you are not planing to try the overclock contest I would just lump it together.

If you  enter the contest you can do a second account at that time.

They are in the last October to November thread.

Basically it is the best share total for 1 stick during 24 hours. Must show a screen shot or photo of the cgminer.
Bfgminer at the start and finish.

Must be air cooled . If you crash you lose.

So the screen shot should be twenty four hours.

at 2015-11-13 at 7:40 am 

24 hours would be up and you would take a screen shot showing the gui with no crash and cryptoglance's accounting for you

My stupid Y usb cable are 2 weeks late ... I guess i will never get them ... :(

Did you order them from Amazon?  If so you probably got them from the same Chinese seller I did, and not realizing they ship via a super slow boat until weeks after I ordered I was pretty bummed that I didn't notice sooner.  To top it off they only sent me 1 of the 4 Y cables I ordered, so I am currently waiting another ~3 weeks for the remaining cables to show up.

Nah Ebay, yeah I guess they will arrived next month :P

Out of curiosity when would you use a USB Y cable? I'm getting pretty good speeds from my USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 hubs but also have some USB Y cables laying around too. Didnt know whether its worth combining anything?

If you had a hub that only put out ~ 0.5A per port and you wanted to do an over clock on the stick, use the Y-cable to draw ~ 0.5A from 2 ports for ~ 1A total (going to have a little loss probably, so say ~ 0.97A).

Or if you got 1A per port, Y-cable would put you to 2A.

This.  My hub is rated at 1A per port and when I exceed 1A I see the voltage start to drop, so a Y cable will let me push it to 2A per stick.

I also have 1 stick on an old laptop and those ports just barely provide 0.5A, so I'm using a cable there so the stick on that computer can run at 262freq for ~ 14GH/s.

IF they actually ship them! I ordered from the same seller and after about 7-8 weeks, nothing, not even a email saying that they were shipped. So contacted to find out if they had shipped them yet and if they hadn't, to just cancel and refund. They refunded.

So I found some cables for cheap and made my own.

If either of you are in UK or even EU I can send you some of my Y cables as I wont be needing them? I have 5.

US or further probably wouldn't be worth while.

For those running minera-cgminer,  I asked in prior locked threads why I couldn't manage to set my 'suggested share difficulty'.  
I received a few responses, not one of which worked.

Syntax is crucial. It's not just what you type in, but what the ones helping you suggest you type in.

This is an entry I concocted  and made in minera; it works.  

--compac-freq 225  --suggest-diff 30

This is the best instruction I received in order to solve my problem. It did not work.
Use :
--compac-freq 225 -suggest-diff 30.

I'll bet you spotted the double dashes on the working entry.
Did you also notice the double spaces before the double dashes?

I didn't notice either of them until today and it became just trial and error that turned out favorably.

The frequency setting is totally irrelevant to my discussion and is only to show what a single line entry might look like, thus exposing the syntax. (apparently you can break it into two lines if you wish)  Frequency can be easily set in minera-cgminer because they give you a place to plug in your desired number.

My point is that if you cannot see that the syntax of what you are entering is 'bad', what you are attempting will never work and you probably won't know why.

I get the freq setting, of course, but it seems to me your post was more about the suggested difficulty and the syntax.

I've searched for an explicit description of the --suggest-dif command but I couldn't find one.
It seems it tries to override the pool difficulty by suggesting it's own value.
But I fail to grasp why it would even be possible.

You are clearly on a good track zHO. Pools are exceptionally good at determining what share difficulty you should be receiving. Some pools take longer than others to figure this out. I like to be able to make that decision myself.
My problem was that without suggested difficulty, I would be sent 1K shares for 20-40 minutes until the pool recognized how small I am. (bad things can happen in 20- 40 minutes of not returning a share, zadig, usb, libusb and even more unfamiliar stuff).
Now I can ask it to start at an appropriate difficulty, and I will be returning shares in just moments.

Thanks for the info I've just added it to my cgminer .bat file command line. You're right mine used to start with 1k diff and took a while to come down, it now starts at 30 which was about where it settled at before :).

I don't think you want to mix the power from two different sources (hub's) into 1 stick (or anything really). Remember reading something about that, but can't think of the reason why it's bad.

Probably why it's a NO NO, to use 2 different PSU on 1 board on S3's and the like.

I don't think I would have done it anyway, it wouldn't have looked good :p

Not only that it would have been quite tricky to support the sticks for fan cooling. A hub does that job perfectly well :).

I"m not very good at it  or have the patience to do it , so won't be. 

Neither am I. There are 2 prizes though of 1 Gekkoscience Compac stick for most shares and 1 for best share in a 24 hour period using a single stick :). I haven't changed the voltage on my sticks just upped the frequency to 300MHz with good cooling and am currently getting about 16GH per stick.

I'm just doing 325MHz @ ~ 17.8GH for now.

Had one doing 450MHz + for a short time, before deciding I needed better fan/s (the old would probably have been OK, but want to be sure) and I forget what Gh I was seeing, because it was just a test to check if the hub would handle it and to check the cooling.

I use minera-gekko and I can't find a running instance of cgminer.
I can open a command line and start a new instance ( i.e. (re)entering the gekko addy and user, but I'm afraid this will just open a new local miner and won't reflect what the pi is doing. Plus I'm afraid I'll mess something up.

Would this log suffice for minera users? It's got much of what cgminer would show,e.g.dates, times, number of compacs?

it does not show the start time which would be a problem.

if it shows a start time  say 1 am nov 15  and runs for 24 hours without a crash  the second screen shot will show the same 1 am nov  15 start time.

Just glancing at minera read me, they have this screen shot that has a start time, but not sure if that is showing how long minera has been running or how long cgminer/bfg has been running? Or if it would show a crash of mining and then a restart of mining?

but the  for high share you keep the highest share before you crashed. --- ie you could get lucky even if you crash out.

The minera GUI has a "Miner uptime" box that shows how long the mining software has been running. My instance has been running for 46 days. Maybe a screenshot is good enough?

Additionally you can ssh in and use ps to see how long the process has been running. Something like this:


Note that there are two results because minera runs cgminer-gekko under "screen". The second one above (with PID 13744) is the actual miner process. But since screen starts the miner, effectively there's no difference in runtime between these processes.

Might be a mute point for me on the hash rate any-ways, was testing some and popped something in the hub I modified for power. Have to see if I can modify another cheap hub laying around, before we start.

Guess I should have stuck with 488MHz @ ~ 26.59Gh, instead of shooting for higher.

Yeah 488MHz is pretty lame. You should probably remove yourself from the contest. ;D

it is why I wanted a 24 hour time frame.  I know I can do 400 for 12 hours as i did it with 2 or 3 sticks already.   ran hot so I backed off.

By reducing the resistance of the little unmarked resistor above left of the pot, you can increase the adjustable voltage range. Our hacked-up test stick "Max" has been altered to run between about 615 and 900 millivolts (and ran stable at 488MHz before my hub wasn't good enough to keep up). In order to keep power stable at higher draws, you'll want to make sure your USB hub has very low impedance on the power rails and make sure the voltage at the Compac always stays above 4V even during brief high-current surges. The input capacitors buffer out some of that but at very high current draw (400MHz/800mV is about 12.5A but the buck circuit is good for about 17A before any parts are out of spec) the input voltage may sag and cause havoc to the power controller. Beefy input lines, preferably with a big capacitor near the socket, will help quite a bit in pushing these things farther.

That's a big friggin' heatsink. Awesome.

Yes, what ever MHz you can get. I would have to read back through the build and review threads, but I think .8V, if I remember right, is about it for the stick's without changing (modifying) a resistor.

Well it wouldn't be much of an overclock contest if you couldn't overclock the stick, now would it?  :P

Just an observation for anyone tweaking their frequency.  I went from xxx to xxx+5 and my hash rate dropped dramatically.  Then upped it to +10 and everything came back.  I will no longer assume that linear necessarily means linear.

I will try my hand at the contest.  Does it matter what time we start on Saturday?  I sleep late on the weekends, so my 24h would be dependent on that.

I have been thinking about start times.

they can be staggered.

lets say you post a 11 am sat morning screen shot. showing the cgminer start or the bfg miner start.  for you to win the 24 hour over clock contest you post back 24 hours later and show the same cgminer we figure you total shares and thats is you over clock number.

at the same time we list your high share that is you number for the second contest. high share.  because we have the 24 hour clock it can be staggered time.

the staggered time sounds good to me. i was dreading getting up at midnight or something to do screenshots. and if not me then someone else getting up at some weird hour considering how spread out geographically we are.

only issue might be the later starters would know what hash rate to beat.. someone early on fires up at 350 mhz others who start later know thats the speed to beat.

of course anyone truly competitive will run at speeds just this side of flames no matter what anyone elses speed is heh

well staggered times are like speed trials for a car race. 


 these sticks can do 350 for 24 hours with no problem with cooling and power from a 2x usb source.

If you are the early starter.  and you choose a 350 speed and get the 24 hours in other will set higher but may fail do to a crash and burn.

but remember you can still win  second prize with best share.   Even with a slow setting like 250 freq best share could be won.

Also your high share counts  for the second prize even if you crash and burn.


I think making it a weekend 2 day slot for the staggered time is easy enough.

 Hell I don't mind if you pick the time you want.

Ive noticed that sometimes the stick is hard to start at high clocks and once it fires at a particular speed it tends to just run.

Mine will have a little down time.  I have had a RPI2 sitting in it's box and was using a RPI model B.   I figure why not give it the upgrade.  So going to install it all over and should end up with a even better compac setup.  The old RPI model B has done a good job though. 

It has kept it up for long periods of time without any issue.  I need to see if I also can get a modded HUB.   I'm not sure I will be much of a contender on OC unless I do.  I did add a fan and fan controller for fun incase I do compete in OC comp.   The fan controller was overkill but kinda fun controlling the airflow of my solo miner area.

Do we have to sign up in a time slot?  I might get up at 10am, I might get up at 3pm, I don't have schedules on the weekend because, well, it's my weekend!

Got my RPI2 installed with software now and 7 compacs running on it.   It does have a lot more speed when multi-tasking.  But as far as mining as expected no difference a RPI VersionB worked just as good.

Now I I only could get my solder equipment out and give my hub a little extra power.

I have a quick question if you don't mind please. When you use the RPi as a controller do you just install the software onto a blank sd card or does the sd card need anything else on it?

You simply flash your favored image strait into a SD. I use Win32 Disk Imager. Whatever was on the key before will get overwritten. Its the same for AntMiner SD cards or any image or OS image in general. :)

whatever is easiest for you and the other contestants. after all this is for fun, not a rules laden headache..

the problem with a day old starting point is if you have a good high share like 1 bill  .  and you never top that high share you would lose the highest single share second prize since we don't know what you pulled while mining in the 24 hour period.
  now if you don't mind that because you want the fastest stick with the most shares i don't mind you starting with a 20 hour 30 hour warmed up stick.  it raises your chance at the most shares in 24 hours and if you have a high share during those 20 hours it will lower you chance of winning highest share.

so let it run all warmed up if you want.  and I will make note of the high share when we put the timer on so to speak.

Just a little note from the guy who designed and wrote almost all the API code and API documentation in cgminer ... (and was copied to other miners) ... :) (yep you can blame me)

The API command "zero|bestshare,true" will reset best share
... and 'true' will dump a status before doing the zero, to the console/log similar to when you exit cgminer

If you want to reset everything, not just best share, the command is "zero|all,true"

phil i shut down my sticks last night. to get  good start 7am (ish) est. i have run 16+ hours at 390 mhz 21 or so ghs (10 watts on that drok usb doctor) on sidehack stick number 13 (lucky 13!) .

I need to set up imgur or whatever it is, get screenies etc. its 2 am est right now, "ill be back" at 7 am est hopefully

that 390 mhz etc is not official i know, if I cant do the official run rules.. screenies etc.. ill just watch the drag race this time if I cannot post poof however

I unsoldered my usb port last night need to resolder it direct rthis morning, my soldering skillz are 30 years out of date. stock stick etc, just the usb port itself is modded

old usb cable with hot lead cut, just sends signals to the stick, the seasonic powers the stick
infrared temp gun for measuring temps

I never ran a contest like this I have basics done but execution is a work in progress.

No hub does the trick! Only Y-cable with external power. It will run @425 but i've to little time to filter the noise on the wires. It will run but throws about 10 HW per minute. So i let it run @400 for the race. Stable for 3 days now ....

Sorry Phil I didnt think to combine the pool stats page as I knew I wouldn't have a chance on the number of shares because I'm running @ 300. Was just going to pin my luck on best share. Thanks for adding my stats anyway :).

Yes, still same gui at 2015-11-21 09:42:44 and still the same best share 3.62M. I'm kind of guessing/thinking once the stick gets to ~ 170-180 HW it rolls over, I'll see what it does if I'm around (I just hope it keeps hashing when/if it does it again).

I'll wait to see if a better best share shows up in cgminer or something else, before posting another screen shot (don't want to clutter up the board to much).

well on the good side  you are only 5 hours off  the 24 hour qualifying number for most shares.


Make sure to post    two more at the 24 hour and say the 25 hour mark.

yup the other day I had a 2200 uf cap on the power leads on a droc power supply @ 5.25v at the socket. ran 390 mhz 16+ hours with one (count em, one) hw error. but it was hard to fire it sometimes.. maybe 2 out of 10 times it fired but the other 8 it would fail with the usb_lib thing.

but I "improved" the setup last night. of course I ran out of time and it was a crappy job so I didnt trust it. so with 20 minutes left on my 7-7:30 am start I went to "plan b"  ie I just scrapped it and went with a molex connector from teh usb socket right to my seasonic x750 psu. no caps on it. tried for 400mhz but Failed.  btw no hardware errors 7 hours in @ 47*C

what external power supply?

for me at least the contest is more of a hardware/fun/lulz thing: what works? how far? and what did you do to get it.. far more interesting to me than winning

Power supply is just a 12V/60W brick and a 12V to 5V step down converter. Step down gives 5A steady and 8A peek but costs only a few bucks.

no here is my setup right now, my "improved" version - I ran out of time to perfect heh so I reverted to backup plan below

the hot lead is cut on the data cable, the seasonic only powers the stick to avoid competing power supply problmes

Thanks Guruclef. Its an arctic usb fan shifting lots of air, it is spinning just think it's exposure setting on camera looks like it isn't :).

The heatsink feels cool to the touch even though its running at 300MHz.

The heatsink feels quite hot! That's what you get for using an improvised cheap fan I guess.

Here's mine for the contest on a single Y cable with a couple usb fans to keep the air moving.  The heat sink is definitely warm, but nothing I'm concerned about.  I have it on the tester for the 24hr so I can keep an eye on its vitals.  Best share of 403k so far for this run.

I still cant get over the 11.6M share ;D. I'd been running 2 sticks for about 2 weeks until the competition and my best share had been 9M with both sticks in that 2 weeks.

After 60hrs, I finally stopped the 435MHz over-clock run stick. Never did improve on the best share.

Dropped it back down to freq 250 added 2 more sticks to the hub and started my lottery ticket machine up again.

Well we are trying to promo sidehacks products. Have some fun and find a place in the btc world for basically anyone.

25-50 bucks for some sticks and very low power use kind of lets you into the world.

so far my 3 are running great at 200M on that hub hooked up to the R1 since i got cgminer-gekko compiled, avg about 10.9 each which is right on what they should be..

i only had to turn up the volt on one.. just a tiny bit. in 6 hours only have 1 hwe on one stick.


think this hub can do 225M on 3 of them?

So a few changes:

Data is now imported automatically from http://poolmonitor.cryptoglance.info/, it should update every hour or so....

because I can not work with that imported data as I would like to, the columns with calculations have moved to the beginning of the table: (which is easier to read as you don't have to scroll all the way right)

edit: well it looks like the auto update is working as the source is down so the spreadsheet is empty :p

And they work right out of the box, or someone new can learn and apply as they go to overclock it and stuff and really get something out of a little usb stick.  The U3 was one of my first miners and what a mistake that was, I wish I could have started with a compac.  I have 4 compacs right now running about 54GH/s total, so about the same hash rate as the U3 but with no head aches, only fun.

Looks good, added it to my bookmarks.

Only a couple of things I noticed, 1) is that the donations are listed as eligible for part "A" share, but donations are only eligible for part "B" share. And 2) I think (?) donations don't get dropped for not mining (their good for the whole round).

Sticks spilt part a)   if your sticks are off line for 48 hours in a row  no share until you go back online.

donation goes to total shares only and only get a piece of part b)  they do not drop off.    so if you rent 100 th on the first day mine it for 24 hours you are good until the 30th and last day.


lastly sticks shares get a piece of part b same as donation.

part a is 12 coins
part b is 12 coins.

so if 40 of us all have 1 stick we all get 1 /40  of part a   or .3 btc

then all shares from sticks  and donations are use to figure   your piece of part b.

I need to really look at the chart today as I think the info is there  but does not quite follow the rules above.

So I can update that very easily depending if donation users are counted or not.
At the moment it's automatic: part A share + 12/#_of_users_except_donation for everyone (cell I3)

I can manually force the "eligibility" to part B to "yes" for donation workers.

basically that would mean that as long as someone produces 1 share the last 48h of the run, every share gets counted for that user. (that's probably easier to built a formula around that statement last 2 columns not 0)

yes, don't worry.
the current formula says no as soon as you have 2 days with no shares, even if you come back.
I need to fix that.

I've modified the formula to part A eligibility

=IF((COUNTIF($AJ24:$AK24;"0")=2);"NO";"YES")

Count the number of 0 in the last 2 cells for each user (dec 10th / dec 11th), if yes: no part A (last 48h with no shares), if no: eligible to part A

But that calculation will only work at the end of the run, when the last 2 columns will be populated.

ok, I've manually excluded 3 of them from part A and include 1.

I've also manually excluded the donation workers from part A reward.
