Title: If prices crash after halving, what would you do?
Post by: pandalion98 on June 13, 2016, 04:19:27 AM
Everyone's excited for the halving event happening around July. Everyone's saving hoping that the price will skyrocket after it.

But what if prices crash down instead? what would you do?

Actually I have never thought about that..I am in the hope that the price will definitely increase after the halving..You should have noticed the recent pump..It shows that the halving rally might have already started..I dont think it will crash at this stage.I also think that it is only you who is thinking about the crash.

It is nonsense to think like that as halving is the sign of rise for the price of bitcoin and it is already obvious from the current pricing trend of bitcoin, after halving bitcoin price will not crash but it will go high more than now.

Well everybody is anticipating on the time before the halving. On halving day, there's not much to be expected.
But even in this current scenario i've place some sell orders (stop loss) on strategic values. So i either way earn some money.

Well, I'm holding on to some money that I need, so I'll have to sell if it goes below a certain point

I think now the price of bitcoin will not come back to lower value but it will continue to grow more higher as bitcoin is the only currency which is not only used for trading but also for normal transactions and purchases also.

what do you call crash?
it can be coming down after entering a big bubble or it can be something else?
in case that we see a price bubble there will be a crash afterwards but it is not going to happen overnight and it is not going to be as big as the rise. and even if that happens bitcoin is still bitcoin and you can still continue using it as you were using it before (if you were using it and not just hoarding for a get rich quick scheme.)

you are thinking is from the investor point of view but you cannot see the traders point of view, when they have bought in low then obviously they will try to cash out profit so that time we can see some selling pressure.

My view is after halving their will be correction but not crash in price of bitcoin as everyone is waiting to sell their coin on high price after halving when everyone will come out to sell then who are going to buy that selling rate, this no one notices it, This is what OP is trying to tell.

I have set point of selling my bitcoins from $800+ price slowly slowly so if their is crash i can buy back in low and would have taken profit.

I would definitely keep holding, there might be a small possibility for an upcomming crash after halving, but in the long term the price would still go up.
I'm talking about the next couple of years of course.

i do expect a serious dump to happen just after the block halving is done. right now i have secured some profits at $700 just to be on the safe side. once the price starts to drop after the block halving, i will use that situation in my advantage to buy back the coins i sold. that's for me the best thing to do.

I am prepared for a price drop after halving ends but not a price crash. I don't think that the price can drop to an amount below $400 as it started with it but we need to be realistic when it comes to anything (especially bitcoins) and not expect that the price would reach $1K or above. I am not investing in BTC and have not bought many bitcoins after the price reached $580.

That is pretty smart, I think that the halving will still be profitable but of course this is not to predict.
We are all hoping on it but nothing is sure with the bitcoin.

i dont think after the halving will affect the bitcoin price it will only affect allot of people who are mining you know. Bigger mining companys does not even has a big problem but the smaller ones...

I'd just hold.  I see no reason to sell after a crash--which is what a lot of people do.   And I'm extremely reluctant to buy any right now.  This rise is fucking scary to me.

No matter how the price increases or decreases after the days of halving. I just keep on holding as well try multiplying my bitcoin as I don't have plan even if price goes very high.

I will be selling some just before the halving, maybe sooner for that very reason. It is a bit of a gamble to whether the train will keep going and leave me behind but that is the risk I am willing to take, however I will never sell all coins it will be like 1/3 of my coin so I will be happy either way.

Now is a good time to book profit fro the price increase that is happening so I think most people will already get some profit with it right before a crash happens. What we can do is just be prepare on what to come next and be happy that somehow we managed to get some easy money with what is happening on the bitcoin market.

If the price is crash after halving i think i will stay holding bitcoin and wait for the price to increase again.. honestly its impossible to happen that the price will crash and day by day more people are discover this currency online so more people using bitcoin it will in demand and supply will low according to block halving it will half so the price should be rise into double..

I doubt it would crash by so much that it would go back down to sub 400 levels. So any existing holders would still profit, unless they bought it at 500. I have been selling some of it, so I am fine with it.

A crash happens overnight only and doesn't take long. By crash, I guess OP means it reaching a value below $400 but I don't think it's possible. The first time I've seen halving being profitable for users unlike LTC that failed and that was a real crash. In any case, $400 is not a small amount as people refer it to be.

Will buy more Bitcoins cheaper -.-

Look, the price has nowhere to go except going up - there are only like 5 million Bitcoins unmined and not in circulation.

Also the current price increase builds up a momentum and the greedy miners from China will not throw away their super expensive Bitcoin mining mega rigs... The price may fluctuate but will go up very soon until the end of the last block. So whoever buys cheaper coins after the crash will still profit very soon if buy the cheaper coins or better yet there will not be any crash due to the momentum and the greedy huge mining farms...

Buy more now and profit till the end!

If the price crashed after the pump up, I would definitely buy a bunch of bitcoin. I think that is a good time to get it at a good price. The problem is knowing when to buy back in. I prefer to buy in stages or phases.

Holding is a good way to make profit indeed due to the fact that the price stays rising and rising these days.
Its just insane that the price is rising so much and fast.

The last price before all this noise for halving was around $430ish. So if I see those prices or near those prices then I`d buy in.

Anything below that price, would be a dream to see at this point since most are aware less rewards hence more value in most peoples eyes - which is what this pumping has become pretty much.

It just got such a good future, I do not think it can really collapse.

I am a trader and hence can understand your POV. For me, any price is good till I earn profit by selling what I've bought. For other users, it matters how much they invested in the currency and they want to earn double from it which is not being delusional but not practical. Bitcoins aren't a magic machine to give everyone double or triple of their investment and hence a crash would only mean it reaching below $100.

for someone like me who never pays any attention to bullshit posts about bitcoin price it doesn't matter what the price will be from now on because i am already made 250% profit by buying bitcoin when it was low as $200 and your dream crash will only be back to $500 which is already more than enough profit.

The price will not crash after halving, as now there are more people involved in bitcoin and more businesses has adopted that payment system so the demand is increasing every day and after halving everyone is sure that the supply will be decreased so with the highest demand the price of bitcoin will increase.

I'm hoping that the price will be much higher that it is right now and probably will sell most of my bitcoins that i saved, but if the price crashes after the halving then i should keep them and not sell because doesn't worth too much. If the price crashes then it will go up again after few months or at least at the end of the year.

I am ready for both, after halving the price of BTC might crash because of miners leaving due to the low mining reward, rendering not profitable. That will definitely happen, when halving happens. However soon after maybe like 3 months after the price crash, it will go up. If people continue using bitcoin, the demand will rise, increasing the price.

I think BTC will be around $900-1000USD at the end of this year

Let's not be negative. Currently, this is the best phase of bitcoins where the price has already increased by $200 in less than a month. If it crashes, it is not the fault of the currency but we should invest wisely rather than just buy bitcoins because the price is increasing rapidly.

I would still hold my coins but not buy more till I recover the amount I've invested.

Well there is a chance it will fall. Regardless how high/low the price will be after the halving. I do expect the price to retract at least 5% since people have no reason to hold on the short term.
Which makes them sell coins, and I will probably do the same with a bit of my bitcoins.

Hopefully, there won't be any panic selling. In that case, the price is definitely gonna decrease. That's the problem with the most people of the earth, when a crypto-currency's value falls a bit, they decide to sell it which causes a great decrease in price. But the chances of panic buying are more, in that case, we're gonna see another price pump of bitcoin! ;)

The part I hold is just for the hope and chance it will..

I would wait for the crash to stop and then i would buy slowly. The best time to buy bitcoins is the time when everybody is running away from it like it has AIDS.

This mega pump won't last forever. When the greed is over we will see a dump like we never saw before.

the price will not crash after the halving, actually the opposite is going to happen, the price will start rising much bigger after that because halving has actually happened.

right now there is only the expectations but then it would have happened already and everything will move up so much faster.

It is not necessary that the price would crash, but if it would, it is definite that some might get out in loss by selling their coins in panic.
But as everyone knows, it will not happen.

It is not necessary that the price would crash, but if it would, it is definite that some might get out in loss by selling their coins in panic.
But as everyone knows, it will not happen.

It will not happen but if it will I would sell all my bitcoins, if its falling now it will not go up again and I really would not believed in it anymore for sure!

I don't think if it crash it will not back to rise again because in the matter of fact all of users seeing a good future of bitcoin also if that crash happens after they sold their btc ,they will buy again at lowest price and wait to rise again.

Bitcoin gives a chance to get out with profit to everyone.
Just think about them who bought when the price was 800, it went down but it repeated the same price back today and those people might have got out with some profit, right?

The only thing I'm gonna do is not be surprised.

At all.

Once the smoke has cleared it's the same old bitcoin as before. Just maybe so many new people get caught up in the current hype that it'll turn into something with serious legs but I'm not convinced.

Less production, and we need to stop using the 'supply' word as there's always gonna be no shortage of that at the right price, might have an effect but it's gonna take a while to figure it out properly.

That is pretty right I think that some still made some profit but not much, its depending how long you of course hold it.
Everyone can make profit with bitcoin if you are holding long enough and wait on the right time to sell.

I think that is possible because many users will sell their bitcoin after halving if the price reach $900-1k per piece. If the price will crashed down i will buy more bitcoins to hold again and sell it for a higher price like i did before.

Prices crashing? Not very likely imo, but it could certainly happen. Prices as of now are so high that most miners, even old ones, are mining , and that will ensure we get enough hashrate going into the halving. Price will probably stagnate at 700 and hold, because I don't see much more panic buying now; it's just the older miners being turned on one last time before the halving kills them profitwise. Demand will probably rise and supply will fall. At the current price, 750 would let S7s mine for a little while longer, and 800 would let them mine even longer than that. Again, all this depends on difficulty. It could drop with old miners all dropping (not instantly, but over time) or rise with S9's being produced at a high rate and being turned on quickly. Time will tell. If it crashes, I really will not care, since I tend to buy CS:GO skins with bitcoin almost immediately after getting any. I have almost no bitcoin left from my "safe" investing, but I sure hope Bitcoin doesn't die in price; it's a great coin.

Right now I would say that I would sell all my bitcoins and never came back to the bitcoin, but its depending on how it crashes and for me its also how much I than have left in bitcoins.
If it really collapse it will not get back up and it will be done for the bitcoin.

I doubt it would crash by so much that it would go back down to sub 400 levels. So any existing holders would still profit, unless they bought it at 500. I have been selling some of it, so I am fine with it.
If we supported bitcoin and even after halving we remained with it and did not get rid of bitcoin then it is not possible that the price of bitcoin will crash and will come back to $400, we should have to remain with it to support it and have to invite more people to adopt it so the price will continue to increase till many years.

I would wait for the crash to stop and then i would buy slowly. The best time to buy bitcoins is the time when everybody is running away from it like it has AIDS.

This mega pump won't last forever. When the greed is over we will see a dump like we never saw before.

Yeah i will do the same, i will buy more bitcoins if that scenario happen that the price will crash after halving because i think that the bitcoin will recover fast and also, it will have a mega pump after that crash because there are many bitcoin users around the world that will also buy bitcoins like us.

The price of bitcoin is now reached to a higher value and it is sure that just befre halving the price will be at more than $1000, so we cannot say that the price will come back to $400 sooner, if a down fall occurred then it will be around $800.

buy anywhere at $200 USD then help pump it up to $4,000 USD maybe $6,500 if we work a little harder

coz it follows trade market history, it always go down before the price rise so peoplecan buy in then boom to the moon

But what if prices crash down instead? what would you do?

If that happen i would buy as many as i can so that i will gain money if the bitcoin will rise again. Thats my plan if that happen
Many traders ready for that if this will happen many will gain profit so.halving is profitable even if the price of it will rise or it will dump. I think now this wouldnt happen because many bitcoin user buy at high price.

if the price goes down after the halving i would make sure to buy as much bitcoin as i can because that crash is going to be because of dump of newbies and whales accumulating again. so i wouldn't want to lose any chance of the bigger rise.

I think buying bitcoins before halving is a good choice because we can see that the price is continue rising and also have a high possibility that it will reach $800 before the halving comes on the month of july.

what do you call crash?
it can be coming down after entering a big bubble or it can be something else?
in case that we see a price bubble there will be a crash afterwards but it is not going to happen overnight and it is not going to be as big as the rise. and even if that happens bitcoin is still bitcoin and you can still continue using it as you were using it before (if you were using it and not just hoarding for a get rich quick scheme.)
Yes for bitcoin we cannot think that a crash will occur in it and in LTC a crash occurred because there was no any use of it other than trade, while bitcoin is usable in a number of online fields and millions of people have their money invested in bitcoin so the price will remain there where it will be at halving(the highest).

I have been an investor for several years, and of course I am mentally prepared to face all negative scenarios. Actually I don't have many alternatives because my bitcoin amount is very small still, and that is why I would keep mi coins even in the case of a sharp drop, and I would take advantage of that situation to buy more bitcoins.

Honestly, it's almost definite that prices will not crash as you will see widely spread around the community, however during that initial time period i can understand why you would be concerned about the future of your money
My suggestion is that you keep a few alternatives open and ready to sell if it does, rather curiously, crash, this is unlikely so i wouldn't worry about it too much, as even if it does crash the value will rise again, but if you really want to be sure, do that

Well, I believe that there is going to be a crash, aka an adjustment after the halving. However, that adjustment isn't going to last forever. I'm simply going to hold onto my coins, as I believe the price will slowly make its way back up again.

I'm still HODLing.

there Will be an adjustment; that much is certain;
one way or the other, blockchains is The future of everything & bitcoin will always be the original blockchain
(the implications of that fact is vast & not inherently always good for bitcoin.)

for the foreseeable future the awareness & uses are there
bitcoin has as much potential to grow (it's price along with it) as it can Scale.
imo once halving is past & done the largest long term factor contributing to the price of bitcoin is Scalability!
(old news, right?)

I can't remember anyone being happy after selling all coins at once. Smart people just sell small portions per time to benefit from an upgoing price. And those who do sell all their coins at once, they mostly end up buying back their coins at a higher level as they don't feel good to sit back and watch the price go up with empty pockets.

Its likely to happen that price may crash down to half after it skyrocket. lets say btc will reach up to 1KUSD so the price after halving may stick to $500.+ but this is just my opinion though. reason might just be because some miners are going to quit. yet while supply is getting low, demands are going to be great.

btc is here to stay still.

If after Halving the price drops (which probably can be attributed to the release of miners, loss of interest and enthusiasm), then I probably will bring a part of Bitcoins in Fiat. Or perhaps I shall buy a little more for a low price. At such times, you need to follow the news and take further action.

I think the most ideal actions to do so is to just hold your bitcoin for the next 4 years and see what will happen.
Just a 6-13bitcoin is good to hold until then. It might be more profitable in most of the cases.

You can see how the market reacts to the lowered price.

But overall people are still holding regardless of that dip you mentioned. The prices can go towards the opposite way, but too many are holding for a higher price which makes it harder to lower the value.

I honestly would just hold the bitcoin after it and see what happens, mostly the bitcoin will get back in its trail and everything will go fine without any doubts.
Its just how you look at it..always be positive.

Everyone's excited for the halving event happening around July. Everyone's saving hoping that the price will skyrocket after it.

But what if prices crash down instead? what would you do?

This is good question and there is a chance it will happen, but for me  if the price of bitcoin go lower  it's right time buy and wait again for rising.  I will buy more at low price.

Well yes to be honest peope don't only savd their bitcoins, people also buys more bitcoins now just to have more after halving and sell them

And personally, if price will fall down then i think i would buy some bitcoins as i am sure that their price will rise again in future

I have just spent the last bit of my bitcoin on a Denarium Limited Edition Coin 1 out of only 100.

Now the decision to whether I purchase more bitcoin at the price it is now, or wait until halving and see what happens.

It really is 50/50 with what will happen and reading some of the posts sounds like a fair few people holding out to see what happens first.

It will be very interesting....

If the price crashes after halving, I will buy when I see the trend turn around, and hope it doesn't go lower than that! But I think everyone is expecting spike up, spike down, stabilize, kinda of like last time... so instead I think it's either straight up or straight down longer than people expect. Personally, I think so many people are expecting it to spike down and they are ruled by fear so I think the big guys are planning on buying it all up cheap and raising at least 40% from that point. I think we will see over $1300.

I dont think the price will crash after a long period and the halving becasue the halving does not affect anything of the coin not the price nothing only the coin miners will feel it.
I think after halving the price of bitcoin will get increase little by little and miner will get glad again as mining then turns worthy. But if it is going to crash after halving I would sell all my bitcoin and buy back again so I can provide myself with another future investment plans with extra net-worth.

I think we saw same situation already, around the forum you can see people commenting how they bought btc on 1000 $ and after that price fall on 200 $. So I would not be surprised if we see people buy again on high, and after that crash come. Simply there is a lot of people that doesn`t know how to choose right moment for buying or selling.
Everyone wish to make profit from trading, but its not so easy. Cause of that people lose money, or they buy in wrong moment and they are forced to wait a long time of period for investment to return or at least to make some profit.

I do not think that bitcoin will crash after halving because the new higher prices (possible around halving)will make bitcoin almost equivalent to main stream of adoption. Then we can have many new investors into bitcoin ecosystem.

Actually the bitcoin collectors here on our country have a strategy on halving. Before halving we keep saving btc then we wait btc price to go up before halving then we convert our btc to out currency then wait the halving then when halving happens the price will go down so we wait till the price go to the lowest we think btc goes then convert our money to btc again in that way we keep our btc in same price but if btc goes up again we will gain profit on that that's also sample of simple trading

Not after halving but when the price hits some nice range. Expect a crash after some rallies even prior to the halving eta.

Most of the big whales are for profit. They don't care about halving thing.

I agree that it would't crash though. Major companies are already backing and using bitcoin. People also invested in bitcoin already. The more people using it, the more tolerant it is to volatility.

This question is mainly hypothetical. I'm curious how people would react.

Bitcoin value already crashed down in the past week. It will go up again, and it will crash again. With or without halving, this will happen. You just don't know when.
The only thing you know for sure, is that the supply of new Bitcoins gets lower after the halving. But the newly mined coins are not instantly sold by the miners. Try this: Go to Blockchain.info, click the last blocks, and check where the newly mined coins went.
These are the balances:
431.10594346 BTC (https://blockchain.info/address/1BQLNJtMDKmMZ4PyqVFfRuBNvoGhjigBKF), 3,340.45052123 BTC (https://blockchain.info/address/1KFHE7w8BhaENAswwryaoccDb6qcT6DbYY), 75.87021485 BTC (https://blockchain.info/address/13pucx6gHP2vyBLc88QfcGivjkhK63PeVg) and 3,366.68709321 BTC (https://blockchain.info/address/152f1muMCNa7goXYhYAQC61hxEgGacmncB).

Miners are in no rush now to sell their Bitcoins. And if they're not instantly selling now, the amount they sell will not instantly go down after the halving.

I think the halving is hyped. Everybody expects the price to go up, leading to the price going up. At the last halving, nothing happened until the price exploded months later.
So either way, nothing changes for me. I sell when I like the price, or I keep holding until I like the price. And I don't mind holding for years.

The main thing is not to panic. It's quite normal.

Emerging technologies, and all at once shocked and hype on the capabilities of the new technology. This is called the peak of inflated expectations. But the technology is still not working as it should. It takes time for it's earned as a necessary technology. Hence comes the technology at some point prior to the point of frustration. And then either disappears or gradually enlightened until until it becomes productive. This principle works for all technologies.

https://media.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/shrinknp_800_800/AAEAAQAAAAAAAAQ1AAAAJDkyYTAwMzZmLWM4OGYtNDkxZC1hMTY5LTkzOGI4YWQzOGQ0NQ.png

So it should just calm down, and buy Bitcoin at low price.

Bitcoin Price cycle,
Price goes up -> Traders who bought the coins at cheap price sold most of their coins -> Price Goes Down -> Traders bought the coins again at lower price

Rinse and Repeat ;D
and I think the price will crash at halving, most people will sell their coins at that day ;D
Don't panic, just buy the cheap coins and wait till the price goes up again

Profit :P

then with that logic there is no natural growth for bitcoin itself and price should have never risen up from $200 to $400 and it should have gone down back to the lowest level of all time which is never possible.

It's not wrong to believe but of course it's no mistake if you will minimize the loss.

If you are already on profits then the price will crash learn to get out.

Then use that earnings to buy again coins and take advantage of that crash.

Or miners can also pull out of the game and sell their assets, driving BTC's price down. They may pull out since they will mine less amount of BTC per block which, for obvious reasons, will likely reduce profits.

The price wont crash after the halving because the halving does not directly affect the price of the bitcoin.
There are allot of people who will feel the halving and that are the miners they know what the halving means.

I would definitely keep holding, there might be a small possibility for an upcomming crash after halving, but in the long term the price would still go up.
I'm talking about the next couple of years of course.
yes that is a good decision i think . i will also hold the bitocin. but i think this down fall will be a termporary and the price will again boost up  very soon. i will not be a wise decision to sell the bitocin in panic when the market is about to crash. the wise decision is to stay and hold it for the price increase.

After reading similar threads, i think that the bitcoin price would go down a bit after halving, but it would recover soon and would eventually be more than today's in a month or so.
I am thinking of selling some of my bitcoins and then when price reduces, i would buy more btc's with that amount and then hope for a price increase (though i doubt if this would work or not).

Actually I have never thought about that..I am in the hope that the price will definitely increase after the halving..You should have noticed the recent pump..It shows that the halving rally might have already started..I dont think it will crash at this stage.I also think that it is only you who is thinking about the crash.

you are thinking is from the investor point of view but you cannot see the traders point of view, when they have bought in low then obviously they will try to cash out profit so that time we can see some selling pressure.

My view is after halving their will be correction but not crash in price of bitcoin as everyone is waiting to sell their coin on high price after halving when everyone will come out to sell then who are going to buy that selling rate, this no one notices it, This is what OP is trying to tell.

I have set point of selling my bitcoins from $800+ price slowly slowly so if their is crash i can buy back in low and would have taken profit.
after the halving there are allot of people scared for a price take down but dont be afraid the halving only affects the miners so dont be scared of a price drop it wont happen. because he is rising and we are in the halving
I know one thing for sure and that is that the bicoin will never crash after the halving because the price wont crash it is just the mining market that will
crash so there will be allot of people who dont are able to mine anymore and that is not very good for them because they will quit with bitcoins.

It is really a non-sense question, how will the price crash if we stay in support with bitcoin?

If you do not want to crash the price of bitcoin then try to invite more people to invest in bitcoin and also do not sell your coins but if you need to buy anything then go to those shops where bitcoin is accepted and buy from there with your bitcoins.

The crash could happen after halving because most of the user's mindset IMO is just to sell their coins after halving and if that happens massive drop for the price will occur.
I agree with you that if the price will crash, its the best to just buy more bitcoins and save it and just wait for the price to rise again so in that method we can still make good profits.

Depends what you mean by crash really,  im expecting some sort of crash but if it was to crash down to say 50 dollars then we might be in trouble.  I  wouldn't be too concerned if we went all the way down to 300 because we obviously don't have the adoption if that was the case so a drop this far would allow new investors to buy in.

I'm believing in the bitcoin so I would stay holding because soon or later the price will go up again.
The bitcoin always has came back up to a nice worth...
Even the price will crash you will still on hold?
Why not? The alternative is panic selling when it crashes, and panic buying when it goes up. I have long term confidence, and you can't predict the peak or bottom of a market.

I actually plan on buying all I could when it crashes and panic selling comes.
In the long run, bitcoin is gaining popularity and continues to grow up.

Everyone's excited for the halving event happening around July. Everyone's saving hoping that the price will skyrocket after it.

But what if prices crash down instead? what would you do?

Well everybody is anticipating on the time before the halving. On halving day, there's not much to be expected.
But even in this current scenario i've place some sell orders (stop loss) on strategic values. So i either way earn some money.
That is pretty smart, I think that the halving will still be profitable but of course this is not to predict.
We are all hoping on it but nothing is sure with the bitcoin.
I know for sure that the price of the bitcoin wont drop after the halving and that is because the halving does not really affect the price of the bitcoin direct the only thing they hit are the
people who are mining the bitcoins they will get a big problem.

I cal tell you that the price of the bitcoin wont crash after the halving and when he does he wont crash allot because the halving only affects
people who are mining allot and small miners is past time.

Personally i dont think that price may go down to 550$ ( maybe a little bit yes ) but indeed we are seeing some low volume now, what could lead to price decrease.
Luckily im safe,i have enough btc to make profit even when its down some, and i have money prepared to buy if the halving will be a surprise.
I still have hope that it is going to rise after it.

in case of a crash after the halving i will do my best to gather enough money $$$ from different sources in order to invest in bitcoin and buy as much bitcoin as i can in the dip before the price jumps back and goes to the moon.

That's right buy more bitcoins to increase your shares and also save some money because the rate is low/cheap so soon if the price would go up, for sure you will earn more money ;D. After you buy bitcoin it's best if you hold it for long term investment like 4 years or more because the price is continue rising every year and you will get good amounts of profit :)

I still wonder what could happen that price after halving would crash and i got to some ideas:
The volume is getting lower now,it could mean that a lot of people will dump bitcoin and thus it will lead to lower price :(
Maybe big amount of people booking their profit too.

Anyways not a wise move of yours. I will gave you a scenario:

You bought at $400 and now the price is $800. You didn't sold your coins since you are expecting more. Then the price dips to $780. In that rate many do some bearish activities resulting for a panic sell. The price now landed to $450.

Because you only want to hold you missed the supposed profits and now you will hold again and then will wait again for long time while those who gave an action before it decrease too much enjoying their profits and will start now to buy again another set of coins since the price is considered cheap at that moment.

See my point?

Agree on this as this is also my mindset when there's a price crash. Don't want to wait for another price increase after the crash if I will not take actions to my coins on exchange. Exiting with a profit is much better than waiting again for another price increase because you missed the opportunity to sell your coins.

Then you will be at a mistake as that crash will not be a permanent crash but will be a short period dump, at that situation you will have to wait a little and very sooner the price of bitcoin will come back to its high value.

it is a good and safe way of trading but i don't think you can earn much profit this way, mainly because you will end up missing out on buying or selling all the time if don't watch the market 24/7

so instead i think it is better to make up your mind and decide if the price will go up or down, then buy or sell respectively. that way you will never miss any chances.

Halving took place three months ago and nothing happened (wait, that 20% fall was due to exchange hack). Now, I think halving will still affect the price of bitcoin for short term (until mid to end of next year 2017) in the form of price fluctuations. We would see high prices and lower prices too but not with sharp points on price charts. I am expecting sustainable growth after 2017 in the price as well as user base.

That's wishful thinking and makes you look like someone that doesn't know what he is talking about. The price can always go lower. We have seen this happen so many times already, and still certain people (where you are one of) think that it isn't possible to fall down lower.

The current price of bitcoin might not go down as you might expect as it is showing good support level at these values. If your dream has to be fulfilled yet another news about a hack must be going the rounds to pull the price down. Other than that it is a good price to buy for now.

It is possible that the price of the bitcoin will drop allot after the bitcoin halving but i dont think he will drop allot because the amount of users also grow allot and when that is growing the price will also stay stable so i dont think the halving will cause allot to the price of the bitcoin but we dont know for sure off course so we will see what it will bring.

Yeah it has been proven now that the price did not crash after halving. There was little time of dump of bitcoins but that was because of Bitfinex hack and halving has nothing to do with the 20% decline in price at that time.

Proven how ? Not being pessimistic about it, but I do remember seeing the price going down a bit just before the hack happened, which was something I believed to be weak hands giving up the bitcoins they have , which they saved for a price rise during halving.

the price is up before halving and crash before halving too, and all say we will wait halving is not over yet but approx 2 mount after halving the price going down but slowly, so halving is not getting much affect for the price cause many speculator make the price up or down, now bitcoin price is better for me look a couple years before now the price more stable

Halving is already done. We didn't see anything significant except for Bitfinex. This is more of a "what if" thread now.

Of course that is a more what if thread now, however the possibility of the next halving have a much high chance within the next 4 year or so.
But according to the topic the obvious answer is to buy BTC when it crashes so you will have a lot of coins and when it pumps again who knows.

I dont think there are allot of people knowing what the halving means and i can tell you it has nothing to do with the price of the bitcoin because the halving only affects the people who are mining the coins because we are reaching the half of the total amount of coins.

buy when prices are low is always the best choice, although previously I had been holding bitcoin for halving and the fact that prices did not crash and do not rise, so I still hold until price increase.

The price of the bitcoin wont change anything after the halving and that is because there are so many people using the coin it will only affect thre people who are mining for the coin as you know there is a limit of coins and when the half of them is reached searching for them is much difficult

Yeah it has been proven now that the price did not crash after halving. There was little time of dump of bitcoins but that was because of Bitfinex hack and halving has nothing to do with the 20% decline in price at that time.

Yeah, it did not crash after halving, now bitcoin is a normal currency with a good strength and even in any situation it will retain its value and we will not lose in there , we have believe on it .
But in my minds, this is very useless, you don't say the price is a crash or not but this time, make a lot of traders is feeling crash caused by the stabilization. and still think about bitcoin price?please don't waste a lot of your time for useless things.

it is the best way to profits from this investment buy while the price at low and sell when you seen that the price is really high, i don't think price really crash as many of us believes that it happen after halving while is is showing that the price is getting stable and stronger it will go up again for sure. keeping the price right now is a good time to buy more.

Even bitcoin price increase or decrease because people use to it, there's no need to panic but just hold it and save for future, who knows bitcoin price increase too fast then you dont notice it, then dump again, you didn't convert it to fiat well thats frustating you miss that oppotunity to earn more.

The price definitely seems to have crashed after halving, but it had reasons to crash, as the dump took place because of the hack at finex, and even hackers dumped the coins just to get bucks of their lives...
This is one of the worst things, security of exchanges, unless this gets into control, people will never take bitcoins seriously...

Price of the bitcoin can hardly crash after the halving because the halving does not mean that the price of the bitcoin will half you need to know where you talking about before some people are going to say this kind of things you know.

Price of the bitcoin can crash after the halving but it can also be that the price will stay the same and off course maybe will rise because there are only less coins available after the halving we reached around the 10 i dont know how much zeros but allot of coins.

If price crashed after the halving then it is the time to buy :D  Bitcoin is known for its capability to bounce back in price or even exceeding it.  Though lots will have panicked and sell their bitcoin resulting to more price crashing but don't follow them buy it instead because as what i qouted said, it will increase in price  next.

Actually panic is just a term. People selling coins during the first phase of the expected crash because they are securing the profit and for other instances some people are minimizing the loss.

Following the trend is sometimes good whether to buy or to sold.

It has not dropped too much and I am surprised how soon and quickly it recovered from the exchanges that lost all those bitcoins at the beginning of the month. But then again, bitcoin is a resilient currency that will be hard to kill if anybody tried to attempt it since it has so many backers now and corporate entities are starting to jump on the bitcoin train as well after seeing it's successful run in the last 4 years. ;D

Yes I don't considered too as price dropped. It's just that we reached the possible price low point after the rally.

Every big rally that is happening in bitcoin price, expect also a price decrease afterwards to test whether the price will reached it's price resistance. For this instance, the resistance is around $550 as average.

I will definitely buy more BTC as I will purchase them on  a discount. It is a win win situation for me as every price crash comes an increase afterwards and it is inevitable. Ever hear the words " Buy The Fear" it is always a sure fire shot on people in trading whether what thing they are trading as everyone else is panicking selling some brave guys buy the panic because they know the increase will happen the day after that or even sooner than expected. But yes there is always a chance that it won't go to its normal price back but you can still make a lot of money with it.

the price is up before halving and crash before halving too, and all say we will wait halving is not over yet but approx 2 mount after halving the price going down but slowly, so halving is not getting much affect for the price cause many speculator make the price up or down, now bitcoin price is better for me look a couple years before now the price more stable
I really don’t think bitcoin is going to crash. The fact that they are going to be harder to mine should mean that they will at least stay the same price and maybe gradually gain more value over time. But the catch is those few bitcoiners who loose faith on bitcoin after halving due to not seeing any drastic price changes. But, real believers of bitcoin will keep faith and do nothing even on the event of price crash.

I agree actually all is just a term but the real thing is the meaning behind it.  And selling to  minimize a  lost is , I agree, some kind of strategy but if they haven't panicked and believe that it will regain its value will never sell their coins in a lossing price.  What triggers them to sell? Isn't it the fear to gain more lost? And selling them all immdiately, isn't that a sign of panic selling?  Besides panic is caused by fear of losing everything. :D

Those people who are really dissapoint with the price after the halving are only those who are greed in money. They are not looking at all technical aspects on what halving should bring in the price movement of bitcoin.

Some people think that halving result is instant not knowing that halving is a normal event that occurs in bitcoin.

Now you can see halving has been finished and also the bitcoin price stable, but not going to crash, So it has mean to buy the bitcoins, and wait for a right moment, i mean when bitcoin price again come on the high.
Bitcoin has no stable price, always it has been up and down, so we should buy it when price down and sell it when price up.

As you know , the price is stable because members still holding their coin for hoping the price would be up and not have a correlation between price of bitcoin with halving as you said (It's more than just speculation)

In longterm halving = price up
because halving means less supply increase,
in short-mid term price depends or demand more
but if bitcoin will not be destroyed demand should be higher so price goes up...

So it is, but the price has remained low due to another reason: the bitfinex hack, in this case was the reason that affected the price after halving.

The price crashed at the halving time but I didn't do anything neither sold or bought bitcoin.

So the bitcoin price is going up again and for the moment I haven't made any plan what to do.

I have invested a little money in iconomi ico so I'm expecting to get a little profit from this and maybe after a time will sell a small part of bitcoin if i need to.

Halving is not a speculation it is considered as a main factor for the btc's price. As minimg btc will have less rewards. Less rewards therefore equals to increase in demand. Demand is determimed by how low the new supply of btc will be.

Yeah, it's basically going to be rarer. We'll have to pay more for mining BTC, soo the price HAS to rise in order for it to be mined.... However, it now feels like it's a ponzi scheme or something similar! Somewhere this all has to stop. The question is WHEN.

Halving is already done. We didn't see anything significant except for Bitfinex. This is more of a "what if" thread now.

Yeah so what if. Then I would buy as many as possible I mean who wouldn't. Funny scenario would be if they drop to 5$ a coin for whatever reason. So everybody starts to mass buy them again but they actually don't rise and everybody loses alot of money. That's a impossible case but still food for thought.

If the price crash then it is the best opportunity to the investors to be grab of because aside from the price of it in the market is affordable and chipper,
when the right time comes that the value of it is getting higher then, a great opportunity to sell it to be profitable.

Exactly, there's no other way but to buy at this dip when the price crashes during its next halving. So everyone should prepared their funds ahead. Because after the halving, it may crashed but its going to be short lived so better if we can enter at the right time and purchased them very quickly.

Because halving is really a great news for us, bitcoin will be difficult to mine resulting in the price going up. So better stack up today and accumulate as more as you can.

Everyone's excited for the halving event happening around July. Everyone's saving hoping that the price will skyrocket after it.

But what if prices crash down instead? what would you do?

Well, that's just how this market moves. Although none of the predictors or inferences are certain and would suffice to be a guide when the market and its assets would go back up. I think that if you see some speculations, especially if it's coming from seasoned and trusted sources, then there is somewhat a guarantee that it could be true because they don't just say such things without researching or studying the market to support as basis for their claims.

when the price of coin collapsed after halving I will hold it until the price back up again because I believe it will not forever the price of coin is experiencing a price reduction, it takes time but at least you do not lose.

That's normal to hold the coins after experiencing massive fall. But we should always think about it that how long is the scenario so we need to wait until such time the price will be normalized and grab while it pumps its value and don't wait for another dumps. With that you'll not be ending loser and everything will be worthy for you as profit.

If the prices crash after halving it, you can buy it and its good opportunities to us to be profitable but don’t sell it, just keep and hold it until the value of it, is getting good enough to gain a incomes.
that's right, just HOLD, maybe this is the best way I will do, I do not expect too much or fear that my coins will disappear and I lose,
because until now no one can predict the market price, because the market price is very quickly changed...

Depend on which coin you hold. And the condition the market itself. Yeah sometimes i brave myself to cutloss to start back because if must waiting maybe need long time or impossible to back in the previous price. Cutloss is delayed success.

If you look at the whole history of bitcoin and crypto-currencies - then it turns out to be: a price drop of half or even more. Then the price of the coin grows and can bring a good income, you just need to wait. I prefer to insure against the risks-to write to the crypto currency (promising in my opinion) and part of the ico projects. Here, too, it is possible to earn a good salary-you need to look at a good project-this can be EOT, there can be a good profit.

If you are currently buying at this time, then its a big loss for you when it goes down. As we are expecting to happen in the 3rd quarter until year end, definitely pumps will come a long us and we must take the opportunity to buy good alts cause it will pump later.

If bitcoin price will go down again it is obvious that we need to hold it again for we cannot sell our coins in a much lower price. But i guess,  btc price will surely rise.

Then I willing to wait even if bitcoin comes to its past price because  I am pretty sure that bitcoin will pump again not now but soon. Hence, if bitcoin really crash down maybe I'll take this an opportunity to buy more so that sooner I will have my victory.

Just think about the previous halving, by the time of halving the price didn't grow as high to fulfill the predictions. Later after short time period the growth began and the regular price pumping continued. Those were the days to make a bigger earning through trading as there is good price variation between time.

I will still be holding it because I believe the capability of bitcoin to rise in the future. That's is how crypto trading business goes. Now the price is up and may be down the next day. If earlier this year the price dumped then probably on last quarter prices may pumps again.

First, if mid-July the price of crypto currency still crashes I will not intend to sell what I have. Hodl is the best way to save the losses that have been experienced. Obviously, this depends on someone depending on them because every investor will have different ways to get profit.

Secondly, this is what most crypto currency users always wait for, as the bitcoin price rises to $ 8400 after a crash last week and trend is still going up, it's not impossible in the end of July the prices will touch $ 9500, we will see later. At least today I've got a profit, because it has hold investments that I have when a crash occurs.

buying and holding actually best strategy for trading in bitcoin.this is long time invesment, we get our maximal profit for atleast one year.and even more if we strong to hold until bitcoin halving in 2020 august.we will gain huge profit at that time.

I guess crashes would just be normal for people who experienced it for many months this year. There are also many times where we hope for good things to happen and they disappoint us too much so I think people are kind of expecting the opposite if it ever that happens.

Depend on which coin you hold. And the condition the market itself. Yeah sometimes i brave myself to cutloss to start back because if must waiting maybe need long time or impossible to back in the previous price. Cutloss is delayed success.
There are some basic rules that need to be followed in all cases when you are in trading. The most supreme rule is to be patient in hard times. When you think things are getting worst and prices are drawing, don’t lose your heart. Keep confidence in bitcoin because they always have shown a repack with much bigger boost. So keep your mind stiff and keep on holding.

At time when you are busy in investing your money into different crypto currencies, then you have to keep this thing in your mind that the market values do not remain the same all the time and that these market rates can fall anytime. At time of dump, the only thing which can then help you in staying patient and then to hold all of your coins no matter how difficult it is to hold your coins.

I'm also experiencing this situation, and almost everyone is in this situation, so do not worry about holding them, because the market is constantly falling but no coin up.

If it crashes then we still need to wait for another skyrocket again. We cannot control the price or value of the bitcoin but we can decide whether to still wait or sell it immediately. I suggest to just still wait for another price to go up again before to sell it and get profited even in a small amount, at least I get what I invested.

It is very unlikely that the price of bitcoin will crash after halving! Historically speaking, the reverse has been the case for the price of bitcoin in cryptocurrency market. We can expect the price of bitcoin to rise further as a result of halving!

As long as you can see a form of value in that investment that will give something useful to the world in the future, it's a good investment. But on the other side of things, don't believe it when everyone is extremely overexcited about something. Or do believe it, but approach it rationally and carefully.

The halving event didn't have as big of an effect as hoped because of the overexcitement that it caused. This kind of lead up to a huge market event is sometimes a bit disappointing for traders becuase they never thought that it would react in the opposite direction. It happens with currencies as well (The pound dumped yesterday even though the central bank rose their interest rates)

Price not necessary will jump up after the halving. But it definitely will go up long-term after that. So I'd not panic sell in this case

If you have reduced, you should continue to hold, so you have the opportunity to increase and pay back to you, if you hurry to sell them, your losses will never be able to earn again.

There are such a significant number of individuals disclosing to me what will the cost do after the splitting dump happen and the main thing I can let them know is that they have to find out about the bitcoin on the grounds that thing happened. This does not imply that the cost of the bitcoin is going to dump at all.

in my opinion if the price has gone down much moreover the share of the price when you buy it is a big loss if you immediately sell it, keep holding even though it takes a long time, don't let you sell and lose.

We need to analyze the price before it comes to the point its price half its value reaching to a price crash. Through this we could manage to deal with trading and evade the loss we could have in the future. Because one thing is for sure, there is a greater chance for us to sell when the price crash with the fear of more loss in the future. So we definitely need to prepare ourselves on the possibilities and we need to make a prior decision before it may happen.

Well first this is just an assumption about the half fall in the values of Bitcoin so relax. And if you have a fall that has reduced the worth of your portfolio by half, bear in mind that now you are able to own the same kind of coins at half price than before. This means the cost of investment has cut by half and like you said that you will invest more which will rise the future margin of profit when the market is all green.

It will be a logical decision. If you hurry up to sell the crypto that is falling, you can miss your chance to earn on it later, when it starts growing after the dump. As for me, I would better hold.
