Title: Do you use a Bitcoin debit card?
Post by: viziano on August 29, 2016, 04:22:49 PM
Just curious how many users use one of these..

I've started using Xapo and its pretty good actually.
I can buy whatever I want with BTC.

They have some fees,I tried finding some companies with lower fees but no luck.

They card costs 18$,I guess it was..Actually all companies want like 15$-20$ for a debit card.
Which is a good investment..I guess..

Which one do u use and what are their fees? :)

Fees with these bitcoin debit cards may remain always high and also exchange rate of bitcoin to USD to load card is lower than the market rate. I am using cryptopay plastic cards and i had no problem using them even with paypal but fee they have is also high.

I use Xapo, I have used it for something like a month or two now, and I have to say it is a pretty good investment in my opinion and I haven't had any issues using it with any of my purchases. The only thing I don't like about it are the spending limits without identification verification, but that does make sense for a fair number of reasons, and I do respect their need for the verification.

No I do not have any bitcoin Debit card as there is no any ATM for bitcoin in my country, I hope it will reach sooner to our country as the users of bitcoin are increasing faster in my country and the government is also in its favor.

If I'm not mistaken, these are not true Bitcoin payment cards. These cards are like regular Mastercards or Visas with the only difference being that your account which they are linked to is a Bitcoin account (otherwise known as online wallet)...

The benefit is that you don't have to convert your bitcoins to fiat manually

Oh! will that debit cards from bitcoin wallet work on our normal ATM machines?
If that is right then I will order one as soon as possible as I also have not ordered it because of the idea that it will not work on normal ATMs,

Well if you only need to use it for online purpose then you better order a virtual bitcoin debit card.

It costs less and sometimes free (Wirex offers free virtual cards) but the fees should be the same.

I have used the virtual one online but haven't ordered any plastic one because I don't need it currently.

They should, but you'd better ask those who are actually using them. If you feel interested, you can read more about one such card here (https://coinsbank.com/cards) (in fact, a whole bunch of such cards). Some relevant info below:

Quote
When paying by card or withdrawing cash from ATMs, funds are converted in real time at the current exchange rate

I don't use it. I think Bitcoin was created with the purpose that people can ditch that bloated market of 3rd parties services anyway.
So supporting something like satellite card payment is actually harming direct bitcoin adoption IMO.

I currently do not use a Bitcoin debit card, however I have been looking into getting one for the past little while and I am often considering getting one more and more as time passes. I'm not sure if they would actually do anything more for me aside from spending $50, and I'm not sure how I would be able to have enough money to actually use my Bitcoin in the real world for most purchases aside from maybe some of the smaller transactions. Having a $12 annual account fee coming from Xapo isn't bad either, but I'll have to see.

i don't use debit card of bitcoin because bitcoin is not completely approved by government so bitcoin debit card will not be used in out country , but i heard on this bitcoin forum that some countries use bitcoin debt card and few sites allows that , probably you can do some search on that which will help you on the same.

Really?  I never see and never heard that there is a bitcoin debit card.  I do not know if there or if it is available here in our country.  If ever there is a chance I would gladly to have one.  I think having something unknown to some people will make me look outstanding to my friends and family.  I think I should suggest it to our local coin wallet here in our country.  Thanks for sharing that to us.

There is bitcoin debit card but its not available here in my country. But there is bitcoin ATM which you can withdraw bitcoin with physical money and also buy bitcoin options. Its very useful but bitcoin is not that popular here in my country and few establishments are accepting this as a payment.

Hey bro it's easy and you apply for the bitcoin debit card through online in sites like spectrocoin.com,  bitzap, bitco and many more sites are there to get that card and then it will reduce the forex charges and exchange charges. You need pay some btc as monthly maintenance charges.

bitcoin debit card will help you a lot when you're going to make a withdrawal of your bitcoin through your local atm, because sometimes you can't get in touch with the exchangers, and also you can use it for buying things in a popular site like amazon or ebay that's now they're not accepting bitcoin directly unfortunately

I don't using bitcoin debit card, because all of them take fees for about 3% if we can make withdrawal on ATM. And at my regional there are not bitcoin's ATM. But sometime if my income from bitcoin is going up will use bitcoin debit card.

i don't use bitcoin debit card too, while i have wallet in my apps, so i think i am not yet needed bitcoin debit card. i am thinking about the fees that i think is really expensive to spend when i want to send bitcoin, and this is just from what i heard on some website. beside that, only few places that will receive bitcoin debit card and is not makes me comfortable to use it.

It's a very good plan, it is better we use wallet to do every thing we want than use the bitcoin debit card where it has similarities with debit cards or credit cards in General. This is going to ruin our lives if it can't do so well and wisely (bitcoin debit card). Don't ever be tempted with ease if it gives no advantage to you

Just like most of the replies, I also haven't tried to use any bitcoin debit card yet. Well as of now I don't really think that I need it because I used to withdraw my bitcoin through my local wallet and spend it in cash already. Who knows? If bitcoin will also be accepted on local stores, maybe several bitcoin users will try it.

I'm also using Xapo, almost a year now and I'm very satsified. I can use my Bitcoin everywhere, in any store online or "real" one. Never had any bad experience. I think fees are decent and the customer support is good so I would recommend this card.

I think that there are not many people are using a debit card with bitcoins just because they only like to use cards with real money on it. I think that bitcoin cards wont rule the world just because there are to less real coins to have.

I've never tried using bitcoin debit card because for me im contented on my bitcoin wallet where i can easily exchange my bitcoin into real money that fast because in our bitcoin wallet we use are partnered with some banks where the depositors or buyer can easily deposit our money if we sell our bitcoin to them.

I dont have many bitcoins, soo its useless to get a debit card to spend 10 dollars into the market, soo i do believe if i get lets say 4 btc to spend i would get a debit card to go shopping, if the fees arent higger then the person which i do exchange my bitcoins usually.

I only used before bitcoin prepaid cards because they are more cheaper than debt cards specially the virtual ones.
I tried both ecoin and spectrocoin and there is no much difference between them in fees or loading prices

I'll get one as soon as I'll get a regular income in BTC. It would not make much sense right now. Considering that I've bought BTC with fiat currency, I don't see the point of a card which would reverse that change by spending my BTC and exchanging it to fiat in a shop.

It's a great tool for miners, though.

That a good news! But what country does that have that debit or credit card. In the Philippines, there are no debit or credit card for bitcoin but hope we can also have that kind of system so we can have a faster access to bitcoin. Moreover, that is one big step for bitcoin and hope other cryptocurrencies will also adopt that kind of system so we can all benefit.

Yes, there are many countries where the private debit/credit card facility is not still available. India is also a such a country.
I use xapo and am very happy with how it functions. I can have a good amount of cash stored on it and I haven’t had it fail on me ever. Good company to sign up with for sure!

I have a bitcoin debit card but I'm not sure if I should use it or not because there is not my name but a random nickname so if I use it in ATM and if the card sucks there I should call the security or someone else to assist me to get back the card and if the name in the card is not the same as on my ID they would doubt on me.

Yeah same here.  Never did I see one bitcoin debit card but I would be happy if I saw one in my life.  There would be a fee just like any other debit cards especially if it is not the issuer bank.  We will incur fee if we used other bitcoin debit card.  But to have one debit card it would make us some feeling of bitcoin power.

I havent tried this debit card for bitcoin. I got one question though. You paid $18 right? Is that payment carried out to your account or a card really cost like that and you start with zero? I mean like ATM's you pay $10 to open an account but that $10 dollar can be withdrew.

Been using uQuid for a while now and like the proces very much, The fact that you can get your BTC processed to USD and use it as fast as using a DC is great. The fees are not that favorable overall though and probably you could sell BTC at a better price and get some % if you do it on Localbitcoins or the like.

I am not sure what I use a bitcoin debit card or not. I just convert my bitcoins in fiat directly in my digital fiat wallet named Freecharge and every freecharge user get a master card virtual credit card, so basicially I am using fiat virtual credit card which is used to top up with bitcoins.

I would like to try new services where I will be able to use debit/credit cards directly without using fiat in it (directly bitcoins).

I want to use it but their fee is to high.
People won't buy something with high price, we want cheap goods.
But the debit card make us pay more. Better use real money to get normal price.
Until one of them can service us with low fees.

I never tried using Bitcoin Debit Card is this for real? because i never knew about the bitcoin card i only use exchange website where i can buy or sell my bitcoin and if the cards for free i am going to order 1 to try but if that card cost me 18$ then no way i want to use my bitcoin wallet as my bank

Yeah that is exactly my question before if there is really a bitcoin debit card cause I never heard of it just on this post.  And according to those people who have read and have idea of what debit card is, it usually ask for a higher fee.  So I think it is much better if we justnkeep it on our wallet since there is no difference I guess.

In my country this debit card is not available to use yet.
It is strange because very many people use it now and it is well known and widely accepted in most world shops from what I heard of now.

It would be a great news that btc can be used for debit card more convenience is awaiting for the shoppers online and just like on my online wallet convertion to fiat currency is an option and its possible to be link with a debit card account to link to payments online. Hopefully this 2017 it will be more developed and more progressive on bitcoin.transaction and adoption of bitcoin using can be more applicable by most countries.

I would rather use my regular debit card issued by my bank than use Xapo or some other Bitcoin debit card. The annual fees are high and there is no real need for them. A better option would be to keep all my Bitcoins unless I really need to spend them because everything I need can be bought with fiat.

I use Bitcoin debit card and it works well for me. Spending Bitcoins with card is much more easier and convenient and it's accepted everywhere, I can buy everything I want, pay for any service. I don't think that fees are exaggerated for the service you get, you also have to pay different fees for fiat cards but still we all use them.

I use unverified Wirex with two different addresses. I like I can have any name on the card and it doesn't char me to spend in shop, only to withdraw from a cash point.

No, I don't have any and there's no access to get bitcoin debit card in my place as far as I know.
Will do some research about it.
However, I don't interested to use those kind of card because it make me easier to spend my bitcoin as I have planning only saving it as my backup plan if I don't have any choice, but for now my fiat savings still could cover my expenses.

I have planned to purchase one but did not in the end cause of the high fees since the only available currency usually are USD, EUR and GBP . The virtual card are cheap and affordable but the physical one is not . Overall, I find using bitcoin debit card is an expensive one . It is much more cheaper and easier to covenrt your coins to your local currency and send it to your regular debit card .

Not every where accept them if in bitcoin or if in fiat then fees are too high, isn't bitcoin the point of low fees and freedom over your money?
I'm using bitcoin because I couldn't get debit or credit cards easily due to sanctions, not that ever stopped my country's people to achieve anything :D but I'm hoping some day the entire world accepts bitcoin for payment still I doubt it they ever will :(.

I will say again that there is NO need for a Bitcoin debit card. Use what works for your daily needs. It is called CASH.

Not yet but I have been looking at my options. :-\
It is a tough decision to make because of the fees that they charge for you to load it, to withdraw from it and even for the amount that you have to hold on it without having to incur a service fee.
To know which one to choose from, it is a bit daunting to say the least. :-[

I didn't know there really are btc debit cards. Now I surfed on the Internet a bit and found about that you can withdraw EUR, GBP or USD anywhere (where such currencies are available) if I'm not mistaken. If it is really like that then it's cool. However, I bet the commission is not as law as they say it is. And in my country I wouldn't be able to buy something with these currencies, so I'll have to exchange them anyway. If I happen to live in GB, for instance, I'll think about buying a card.

I think Bitcoin debit cards are a cool idea but quite impractical. Unless you get paid in BTC you have a bank account anyway so you might as well get a debit card linked to that instead. Otherwise you're just paying unnecessary fees by going from FIAT to BTC and to FIAT again...

The bitcoin debit card have nothing to do with the bitcoin ATM. The bitcoin debit card use bitcoin to have cash (normally euro, us dollar, pound etc). So you spend your bitcoin to have normal fiat currency. So needed ATM for the last ones and not for bitcoin. And ATM for those currencies must be in most of the countries of world now.

Thats a good idea on bitcoin about debit card and its really cool. But right now in my country btc debit card is not yet applicable but if you have big amount of btc in your online wallet then you convert it to fiat with certain charges yet you can in cash it and use a fiat debit card.as well. In future of bitcoin specially those who patronizes it with the most numbers of users its not impossible that bitcoin debit card will become a reality in our country in next few years and most importantly legit users will fill out a legit registration in order to avoid scammers to take over unacceptable acts.

First of all I dont prefer Xapo - its nothing but the lame banks that you see everyday in your town. It stores information and has no privacy - totally anti-bitcoin in my opinion.

Secondly, Bitcoin debit cards are not found and/or popular in my country. I hope they do become popular like bank debit/credit cards and then of course I would like to use them, albeit I would prefer the bank to not interfere in the transactions.

I'm not 100% sure  but Xapo delivers Bitcoin debit card in all over the world so you may also get a Bitcoin debit card and you do not need any Bitcoin ATM machine to spend your Bitcoin. Bitcoin debit card just allows you to spend your Bitcoin in fiat so your Bitcoin is converted to fiat at current Bitcoin at the time of spending Bitcoin.

I have not even own one but I know it will be cool for countries like USA or Uk whose currencies are quoted directly unlike me over here because we even have the official and the non-official exchange rate which is cheaper and has more gain. And now with A debit card to be use on our ATMs then I will be paid using the official rate in which I would have gained more, going through the way of exchangers who are likely to use the parallel rate with premium.

I don't know about that, India’s government seems to be on a crusade against their citizen with the excuse that they are trying to stop money laundering, they have stole people's gold and they forbid the higher bank notes in their country so I don't think we are going to see that anytime soon.

3. There are no verification be needed for use it.
4. They have high limit.

As long as you are shopping through online and only for digital goods, I guess you will not be needing plactic bitcoin debit cards, you can simply manage with VCC. But when it comes for physical shopping, bitcoin debit cards will be very handy. If you are not a dedicated bitcoin holder for long term, you may think about buying one plastic card.

I use time to time the virtual one and I don't have any issue but haven't used any plastic one yet.

Well reading prior comments on this thread I understand how this can work by linking your btc wallet to your actual debit account and I think this would be very beneficial for us users. The only wish I have is for it to be available in more areas as for now, even if I have one of those, I can only use it for online purchases from businesses that actually accept btcs as payments.

I would like to tell when we say bitcoin debit card we mean a card where we can load with bitcoins but we can use it like as our cards with fiat money. Most of them are virtual but if pay a small fee can come in your home after some days. More over some of them are prepaid too. You can use them like the other ordinary cards in ATM to withdraw fiat, for purchases online and so on. Some of them are https://spectrocoin.com/ and https://www.e-coin.io/.

According to their system of auto top up I also like xapo much, but it is not available in my country. In the meanwhile I found a local exchange in my country and whenever I want I withdraw my money from that exchange and use them with my bank card.

So far right now in my country don't have any debit card for bitcoin, because most of the people here don't about bitcoin/ digital currency. I wish sooner or later we could have that chance so I can experience to use it anywhere I go.

to this day i can not see any usefulness in using a bitcoin debit card.
if i want to spend bitcoin i would spend bitcoin directly from my phone/bitcoin wallet and directly to the merchants bitcoin wallet. any other way is not spending bitcoin, and a bitcoin debit card goes through the third party, changes it to fiat and takes lots of fees to let me use it! so what is the point, i am going to use a fiat debit card for free (no fees for using it here) and use bitcoin directly if i can.

Damn, 20$ + fees it's not cheap xD

Anyway I don't really like the idea because that means putting your BTC on xapo... And that's not something I'll ever do I think.

Same here and even if it was available worldwide what's the essence of such a card(with high transaction fees, I'm told). It defeats the purpose of decentralization because you'll be having your funds kept by the card company and they can be hacked. I think everyone should learn how to keep his/her wallet safe.

These cards are like regular Mastercards or Visas with the only difference being that your account to which they are linked is a Bitcoin account (otherwise known as online wallet)...

The benefit is that you don't have to convert your bitcoins to fiat manually

Oh! will that debit cards from bitcoin wallet work on our normal ATM machines?
If that is right then I will order one as soon as possible as I also have not ordered it because of the idea that it will not work on normal ATMs,
If you meant the swipe machines then it would work as they are just visa / mastercard debit cards just there are loaded with bitcoins.
I have used spectocoin virtual debit card to make purchase from online stores that don't accept bitcoins till now.

Debit cards. Ohhh. Created to make people be tempted into using it. This is a good strategy by Xapo into making their wallet more profitable and it will be fast considering there are a lot of people who would want to try it. Yeah, who dont? We want to spend our hardworked bitcoins sometimes to just feel the goodness of it.

I once tested a debit card that accepted bitcoins as a loading option.
Some online shops acepted it, other did not. Then the money was put on hold and I had to wait a few weeks until it was cleared as a refund.
Personally I do not use it anymore because most shops I intended to use that card now accept bitcoin directly.

I'm not using bitcoin debit card  or planning to have one. I don't like the idea of spending with debit card and have to pay high fees, remind me of conventional bank service which I don't like it in the first place. Depends on the FAQ to use the debit card, unfortunately I can't say too much as I don't know for sure, but if the idea similar to bank debit card, then it's not worth, at least for me.

Same here. I hate the high fees associated with most of the bitcoin debit cards. In my personal opinion, bitcoin debit cards are out of basic concepts of bitcoin system like we are selling bitcoins for the purposes of spending them. Even we are using bitcoins through debit cards it is equivalent to selling, I am really against it.

Yes for Visa they are isssued from Gilbraltar. From what i noticed, for Mastercard they are issued from Wave Crest Holding. But i know only two sites having Mastercard that you can load with bitcoin. Avirexapp and Advcash. I own one from Advcash and it was coming from Germany. They don't charge monthly or annual fees for their card and the price is 5$. They also offer VCC for 1$ if i remember. In India, the government is generally suspicious of Bitcoin activity, and there is a real chance that they will shut down the online exchanges. They are not international entity yet and they lack the customer base for that reason. Though they have created a spendable bitcoin through debit cards but it's not use if I can't spend or use my crypto card in other countries. It should have that potential as I can just fly with it anywhere in the world. Now that would be great experience to tell anyone I meet with my bitcoin card. :-)

I don't really understand the point of them. It's just too easy to change between Fiat and Bitcoin and back again. Really I kind of used Bitcoin for one set of things and fee on for another set of things so I don't see the need to have that sort of instant access through an ATM card.

Yes I do for a long time now and I'm very satisfied with that service. It's very convenient to use and you don't have to worry if some merchants accepts Bitcoins or not. Without Bitcoin debit card I don't know how would I use Bitcoins in everyday life for everyday expenses so I don't understand people so don't see the POINT of such card. Because Bitcoins are not made just to be kept in the wallet and not used for anything and not everyone wants to exchange it for fiat and leave traces on bank account.

In my opinion, Bitcoin debit cards are providing a very convenient to convert Bitcoin to physical cash and it can be withdrawn anywhere in the world mostly when there are ATMs you can easily get your cash without so much hassles. Of course, this service is more inclined to people who are planning to spend their Bitcoin with anything. A person who is trading will not transfer his Bitcoin to the debit card company, of course.

I still think that bitcoin debit card are having a lot of issues and it's better for my opinion to make a local card and exchange the money and deposit like that, because you need to pay for holding the card + fees for checking balance, withdrawing etc. and it's better in a current moment to use your debit card and deposit it from exchaning bitcoin to stated currency

that also goes for me. i really think that you can save more if you just convert your bitcoins to fiat rather than using bitcoin debit card because right now there are way too many

fees compared to the usual debit cards we use--cash. honestly people like the anomity of it but you don't really need it unless you're doing something illegal. and i'm not that

sure if the plastic version is acceptable in my country particularly those who has no name on it

I think using btc for spending as of this moment is not a good idea does also using it for debts even as debit cards, saving it will be much better. But if really needs to spend it then it might be fine.
It is up to them if they will use bitcoin to pay or buy something they really need and we don't have any rights to be against with them because that is their own money and having profit or money in bitcoin is totally worth it to spend if they really want to, maybe just to buy necessary things or to reward their self, as long as they are happy with their money then we cannot do anything about that.

I don't use bitcoin debit card because it is not a wise decision for me because i'd rather put my bitcoins on a cold storage or use it to trade altcoins rather than putting it on a debit card that can be use to pay the things that i will buy which is not a wise practice for me because i always think for either saving or earning more bitcoin for long term and not for using it as a money.

You are absolutely right. I think Debit card is one of the greatest facility which they are providing to us. We want to have our Bitcoin transferred into money and we can buy almost anything where Bitcoin can be used. So there is no harm of keeping it, using it or not depends on you but you should have it.

No, I don't use a bitcoin debit card because of the high fees I needed to pay for the services provided by the company that issued the card to me, I would rather use credit cards provided by banks that charges lower annual fees for purchasing items online.
No I don’t use bitcoin’s debit card because it is too much expensive to buy and there is no need of it because I think one must just memorize his/her digital account number for sale/purchase of the online products . I might be buying it in future when I have enough money for it.

SpectroCoin bitcoin debit card is accepted everywhere where MasterCard or VISA is accepted. That includes automated teller machines (ATMs) for cash withdrawal, online sites, and physical shops. This Bitcoin debit card can also be linked to PayPal or any other online wallet.
Virtual and physical bitcoin debit cards are available. Virtual bitcoin cards are issued instantly and can be used to spend bitcoins anywhere online. Physical bitcoin cards are delivered within 1-4 weeks and can be used to spend bitcoins anywhere physically and online.
I personally didn’t use this Bitcoin debit card in real but like you said Bitcoin debit card is available and is very much beneficial for the ones who have a good amount of Bitcoins. It is more or less the same as that of normal debit card having all the features you need to have. You can save a lot of your time of you have this card.

I don't use debit card and its due to the fees involved from the loading fee, transaction fees down to the withdrawal fees at local ATM couple with the unfavourable exchange rate that will be used at the point of withdrawal, I will just stick to my method of cashing out which is getting individuals who are ready to buy then transfer into my account without any hassle.

Hello friends. Love this topic, good discussion too.

I found this Bitcoin Debit Card Comparison Guide (https://www.cryptocompare.com/wallets/#/cards). I hope you all find it useful!

I like the convenience that the debit cards provide, but I think it's a mistake if the cards don't say "bitcoin" on them. We miss an opportunity to show people when and how frequently we're using Bitcoin.

How do we get these cards to have a Bitcoin related reference on them?

Bitcoin debit card isn't really available in every country as for now. But I love to have one. Since there are not much stores accepting Bitcoin as for now. Therefore, we need banks for converting first our Bitcoin to fiat and then use that in stores. Bitcoin debit card will make that process easy. I am anytime ready to have that kind of debit card until Bitcoin doesn't becomes mainstream.

Very nice service. Highly recommended.

The local exchange wallet that I've been using has given me some convenience because I can easily exchange my BTC into fiat but I think having a bitcoin debit card would also be convenient. With a bitcoin debit card, I won't have to retrieve or carry the fiat. Fees may be a problem but there are also fees when I exchange BTC and when I use credit cards. I don't own a bitcoin debit card because I don't think that it's available in my country nor will I be able to use it as there are no merchants which accept it, from my knowledge.

I guess it could also provide you a sense of security, because you may use the bitcoin debit card in times of emergency.

No, I don't, I can't find any ATM near me, and I only know just one Bitcoin ATM which is miles away from me. If I have a chance and I can use it. In City where I live, I can't find any way to use it unless ATM machines would accept it. I am willing to try it.

But for now, I am comfortable to just using exchanges and just converting to fiat and then deposit the money to my bank account. I am willing to try it though if there is a chance.

Actually I am not yet famailiar with this but with the word itself, it is actually an interesting idea. However, I have insights that what may bring this idea in a bad side. First is that people might tend to have more access to it therefore giving hackers other means to hack Bitcoins.

Also one bad side is that we really dont have to use or dont need to debit card unless Bitcoin will continue to grow thst almost everyone is using it.

Debit card is for people who want to reveal their identity to the world

I thought of using a bitcoin debit card in past but it's fees were staggering high at that time because the debit card was the new trend back then and it's per transaction fees, withdrawal fees and monthly maintainance fees were quiet high, so I left the idea of using debit card and got verified my poloniex account and then started withdrawing from that account to my bank account, this costs me kuch less in fees as compared to the other alternative, i.e. Debit card. But today I got interested again in bitcoin debit cards by reading this topic, so maybe I can think of it once again if the fees would have been reduced now.

That would be great, if all places accepted bitcoin payments. I've been using Cryptopay when traveling and it has been working great. So until every store accepts btc payments I guess we're stuck with 2% transaction fees. Just using a card in my country's currency would result in a conversion fee larger than that. Xapo for now is not the best anymore when fees of them are really high

i think it is not a good thing to have a bitcoin debit card because that way you're having your coins stored by a third party and a total deviation from the elements of the blockchain technology. Your coins wouldn't be safe with the card issuing company.

Lol bitcoin debit card is not related to the legalization, and all of the thing that just like supported the visa and master card should be accepted in every country or even store. you word doesn't make sense.

I have the card form MisterTango, and while it's a great emergency backup, the fees on it are not really reflective of the restrictions. Still, for something that I got completely free and that I can use to bail myself out from almost anywhere if needed I'm holding onto it. Might get myself the CryptoPay card as well, because it seems like a way cheaper alternative.

there are some nice providers out there, leader is currently TenX, check em out

other debit card providers are Monaco and TokenCard

The fees are a bit high, even if they promise 0% exchange fees, you still pay about 2% for each purchase for transaction fees.. when these will decrease I might join

Bitcoin debit cards are NOT in any way linked to the Bitcoin ATM. Bitcoin ATM allows you buy Bitcoin or Sell for fiat currency.
Bitcoin debit cards primarily allows you spend the Bitcoins you already have as if it was your local currency (in places that do not normally accept Bitcoin)

The absence of Bitcoin ATM in your Country should not stop you from having a Bitcoin Debit Card if you want one it makes paying your everyday bills easier.

But i heard there is already a bitcoin ATM which dispenses fiat which is also very cool.

Debit cards are like credit cards but the advantage of debit cards is you will have a chance to buy something if you will put money in it so if you will have bitcoin debit cards then you need to put some bitcoin and that is an advantage for us since one of our primary source of income is bitcoin and we will not have any problem with buying stuffs since debit cards are widely accepted.

Here in my country we still don't have  ATM because bitcoin is not yet fully accepted and the awareness to this is still few. And if we have that here as well as the debit cards maybe I'll use it for more convenience. Besides, it's not a credit card so I will not have a debt to pay. And if this will really happens here, using bitcoin for our daily lives will be a less hassle and many will get more curious and get attracted to use.

This is a new fuction that not much websites can provide, you should try it, the fee is depend on the blockchain system, usually it's smaller than others visa or debit cards you've ever used.  Coinbase is one in the few website provide it. I think it's just because you do not have a habit of using debit card, it's actually covenient and help you stay away from embarassing moments when you don't have cash.

Right... although I can see why the guy got confused. If you don't know about crypto debit cards it can be confusing.

I think they are the least appreciated thing in the crypto world, by the way. You can literally fund an account with Bitcoin and make every day purchases with your debit/credit card like normal, only using Bitcoin/crypto. This is what we all need. We all should be applying for them.

Its not rumour as there have been severals ATMs both virtual and physical which can be used domestically like the normal ATMs just that the charges might be on the high side. I am still wondering which country you are that in the 21st century, there is no abundant amount of fiat ATMs. Although, over here too, I have not seen bitcoin ATM machines.

Is Xapo any good. I got in touch with these cards once I saw the Centra ICO, and I took some time reading their whitepaper. It was after reading it that I realized that there were many more bitcoin debit cards and xapo actually looked like the worst one, just looking at the comparison they did. Only accepted one coin, and had higher fees. Centra looked really good, and so did TenX. I will probably give them a try.

About the list of bitcoin debit cards presented above,  is interesting.  The overall fee is more important in comparation with price we pay per plastic card,  because that fees will pay every time we use the card.

Actually, I do not like debit cards, it's a form of self-made debt, but it's still good for us if it can be used with Bitcoin. In part, it will help Bitcoin become more popular and more and more people use it for more conventional payment services.

Soon that will happen.Like a fiat withdrawal ,bitcoin withdrawal will also happen. For that some things should happen.

1.Bitcoin should replace the entire Currency System.
2.Bitcoin bank should be implemented.
3.Like a FIAT,Bitcoin also should be in paper form to withdrawal.

How is it a form of self-made debt? In fact, I like debit cards as compared to credit cards because the transactions are real time and whenever I make a transaction, the expense is automatically deducted to my account. Unlike with credit cards where you pay at a later period. With debit cards, I won’t be able to purchase without having the sufficient balance in my account.

To answer OP, no I do not because none are available in my country. Perhaps if there was, I would have one because I’d find it convenient.

I see you are quite optimistic. What does “soon” for you mean? If it means at least ten years I might agree with you up to a point.

However, I’m not so sure that bitcoin will replace the entire Currency System, I think it will rather co-exist with it.

Bitcoin bank? Do you mean like traditional ones?

Paper form doesn’t sound so strange to me but overall, those statements seem too heavy for me as to state that they will happen soon.

You can use your bitcoin card in your country too !
Physical or Virtual Bitcoin cards are just like any other Visa, Mastercard, etc Credit/Debit Cards. You can use your bitcoin cards in all the stores that accept these cards. The only difference in bitcoin cards is that they loaded with cryptocoins instead of fiat, rest all is same.

I've only used OKPay so far (The Physical one), the card issue costs $15, with free shipping. At the same time, the fees seem reasonable and do not offer a monthly fees, like many others do. I've used it a couple of times and faced no issues, even internationally.

For that very reason I don't think we'll het any easy to obtain/use and reliable card anytime soon. Last thing issuers want is to see crypto slowly killing them.

There an ICO called SALT - where you do not have to spend your Bitcoin - you can use it as collaterial for a loan instead.  That way you can keep you crypto for large price spikes up - and the loan does not become a taxable event as you technically still own your bitcoin.  I do believe they also will be giving debit cards.  They have not actually started issueing loans yet - think they are waiting for legal team to iron out things.  But you can pick up the SALT tokens for $3 right now - which will get you a loan of up to $10,000 - once they go Live with project I am sure the SALT tokens will rise in value. For 30 Tokens you can get loans for up to 1 Million.  the tokens are used for annual membership fees for the service.  The interest rates should be low because they hold you Bitcoin as collaterial.

Actually, I do not like debit cards, it's a form of self-made debt, but it's still good for us if it can be used with Bitcoin. In part, it will help Bitcoin become more popular and more and more people use it for more conventional payment services.
Having a debit card does not mean that it is a self made debt card,it just helps people in using and spend bitcoin in different ways and i would like to have a debit card in my country, but sadly i am still waiting for a company to come up with a card for the people of my country, but i hope the transactions charges are not exotic . :D

well if that debit card available here in the philippines well i will buy one to safe my bitcoins, bitcoin is the best bank for me so that i will buy some of that if that is available here, but where would that can withdraw?

Soon that will happen.Like a fiat withdrawal ,bitcoin withdrawal will also happen. For that some things should happen.

1.Bitcoin should replace the entire Currency System.
2.Bitcoin bank should be implemented.
3.Like a FIAT,Bitcoin also should be in paper form to withdrawal.

No I don’t use bitcoin credit card because in my country this facility is not available. I just use my bitcoin wallet and when I need money I withdraw my bitcoin and the available exchanger convert my bitcoins in my local currency. It is more comfortable for me than using credit cards.

I trust mostly in direct dealing other than credit cards because of the scammers and hackers around the world and the authorities does not accept any misuse in any case.

Unfortunately bitcoin debitcard is not yet available in our country but if ever it would be available , I would love to have one. It is more accessible since you don't have to have an internet access so you can easily buy or pay something you want.

I haven't tried to use a bitcoin debit card. All I do is withdraw my money first then I use it to buy. Although, I would like to have that bitcoin debit card. I think I can do a lot of things using that card. This is a really good news.

I have a friend who uses it, and it's actually quite convenient. Everything that he buys, he uses his bitcoin debit card. Although, I asked him how to apply, we haven't talked about it yet. He said he will guide me the next time we meet.

No I do not have any bitcoin Debit card as there is no any ATM for bitcoin in my country, I hope it will reach sooner to our country as the users of bitcoin are increasing faster in my country and the government is also in its favor.

Same here. We still have no Bitcoin Debit Card available here in my country. I hope that there will be available Bitcoin Debit card in our country sooner so we can also use it if in case we have emergency or we need to have some cash for unplanned expenses if ever. I hope that our country is like your country who are open-minded when it comes to bitcoin so it will be easy to have bitcoin debit card here.

I use several Bitcoin debit cards like coinizy, spectrocoin, cryptopay, among others. But I recommend for you to use coinizy because you can use it efficiently for small transactions. Nonetheless, I cannot vouch for Bitcoin debit cards in general because it is like converting your Bitcoins to fiat. Like for instance, if the value of Bitcoins increase, the amount of Bitcoins you have in your debit cards will no longer increase because its value has already been fixed and thereby unaffected by the fluctuations of the Bitcoin market. That is why to be safe, and should you need to use one, convert only a little amount of Bitcoins to your debit card.

I do not have bitcoin debit card yet. So I am not using bitcoin debit card this time. Maybe if I already have bitcoin debit card, I will surely use it because it is very easy to get our cash from ATM Machine. But if ever there is already bitcoin debit card, can we use other ATM machine even if it is not Bitcoin ATM Machine? Because we do not have Bitcoin ATM Machine her in our country.

I have never seen it. It makes us lurk in the debt loop. It is better if a credit card is issued, it will help us a lot in life.

Fees with these bitcoin debit cards may remain always high and also exchange rate of bitcoin to USD to load card is lower than the market rate. I am using cryptopay plastic cards and i had no problem using them even with paypal but fee they have is also high.
Fees are essential on dealing with transactions, so if you want a better for of transaction with the used of bitcoin you should also need to consider learning the system of bitcoin for us to deal with decision aligned through the changes of the value of Bitcoin. So if there are going to be a debt system on bitcoin it might have a new form system that can implement so that it may have a better form of debt for people to be used in investments.

You are talking about debit and credit cards while in our country there is even no name of bitcoin known to any layman. Only educated or people related to technology they have some knowledge of bitcoin else no one knows what bitcoin is and what all this crypto world is. So better is to wait for better time. Hope so in coming future things will be fine here all at once.
