Title: YACoin Windows 7 x64 [SSSE3 and AVX support] / x86 miner
Post by: god3 on May 10, 2013, 01:09:02 PM
Many users have problems with the mining YAC under Windows x64, because of low speed. I've compiled minerd under Window 7 x64 with support for SSSE3 and AVX.

Features:
- I haven't finished it yet but sources is included
- compiled under VS2010
- sha256 and scrypt not work, i haven't enough time to fix it. Only scrypt-jane works correctly.
- command line parameters supported only in Win style ("-o" but not "--url").

AVX support started from Windows 7 x64 SP1, check your version of OS.

And some results (AVX support):

Using:
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_ssse3.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD
minerd_scrypt_jane_x32.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD

You are AWESOME!  I've been trying to figure out how to get the mining for YAC working all morning.  Your program is fast.

I have an OC'd 3770k and I will donate when I get some coins, for sure.  :)

Hey one thing, every minute or so I keep getting json_rpc_call failed.  What is that?  I'm using the AVX version and YAC Simple Pool - DontMine.Me

what us best ssse3 or avx? cant get the avx one to work, just crashes, happenes on both computers i am using. anything i need to install or something?

the sse3 version runs and task manager showes 100% cpu but nothing happenes on the screen, no report of hash rate etc. do i need some extra command to see this?

in fact i can see AVX version is a bit faster than SSSE3. It has fault because your processor does not support such technology.

if you wonna see some speeds remove -q ("quiet") parameter from command line

Is there any special parameters you did to get the 500's?  My 3770k is getting 200-300s @ 4.4Ghz.  Also how can we make it use 7 cores?  I tried using genproclimit=7 but it wouldn't load.

average speed on i3770k is 320kh.
I got 500kh by adding "-t 20" (num of threads) in command line, but this speed can be seen only after starting

how many threads can be used on a 3570K?

Look at the speed and experiment
I came to the conclusion that for me, a suitable amount of thread is (2.5 * num_of_logical_core)
As I understand it all depends on how much of the computer itself, and the speed of memory

Not mining much faster than with Virtualbox/ubuntu but my PC is more responsive now. I can use it for other tasks (who said cgminer  ::)).

Sent you  5 YAC.

and i am getting 295-265 k/hs on CMD with a 2600k @ 4.2 GHz is this normal? should i use any other flags?

CAN I close minerd WITHOUT closing CMD?

OK, 2500K 270khash/s @ 3.9 AVX

I did tryied a very old AMD K8 3200+ socket 754 with the SSSE3, and it gets 20khash/s, very awesome for such an old processor.

What is the URL, Usr / Pwd in the line below?

Okay, It looks like the username and password can be anything at all if you are solo mining and set up the conf as in: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200169.0

(I thought the u/p had to come from somewhere - but doesnt seem that way)

:) No. Litecoin and YACoin use different algorithms. I'm only compile https://github.com/ali1234/cpuminer (https://github.com/ali1234/cpuminer) with minimum changes for correct build in VS2010. All optimizations already were present in original sources, i only turn on them.

With the binary posted here and Yacoin I get over 140khash/s. With the usual pooler-cpuminer and Litecoins I get around 24khash/sec. Is the difference because Yacoin is easier to mine with a cpu? Or is it because the standard-build of cpuminer isn't optimzed for ssse3?

What do I put for URL:PORT and USER:PASSWORD? A node and its port I'm guessing, no idea for the last two?

Depends on whether you solo-mine or pool-mine.
When solo-mining URL is the IP+RPCPort of the machine where you have yacoin-qt running (e.g. 127.0.0.1 if its the same machine, default rpcport of yacoin is 8344).
User=RPCUser and Password=rpcpassword that you specify in yacoin.conf

When Pool-mining at e.g. yac.dontmine.me, url is for example http://yac.dontmine.me:8080/ , User is your Worker name, password is your worker password.

After [2013-05-11 00:09:37] 6 miner threads started, using 'scrypt-jane' algorithm. it does not show anything else even after a long time (no hash rates or accepted etc.)

Launched from.bat file.

Many users have problems with the mining YAC under Windows x64, because of low speed. I've compiled minerd under Window 7 x64 with support for SSSE3 and AVX.

Features:
- no sources, only binaries. I haven't finished it yet
- compiled under VS2010
- sha256 and scrypt not work, i haven't enough time to fix it. Only scrypt-jane works correctly.
- command line parameters supported only in Win style ("-o" but not "--url").

And some results (AVX support):

Using:
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_ssse3.exe -q -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -q -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD

on my i5-3570k @ 4ghz i'm getting 260 khash/s with this build, was getting 301 khash/s in linux on the same machine so there's some more build optimization tobe had here. Good work either way
scratch that getting 300 khash/s now using 10 threads

how do you use 10 threads?

-t 10

also getting around 315 kh/s but @ 4,7ghz tried even -t 10 and some others but 315kh/s is the maximum so how do you get 300 kh/s ? which ramclock you are using?

For the List:
i5 3570k @4,7ghz 315kh/s
i5  (3ghz)  ~190 kh/s
i3 (sandy) 3.1ghz = 115 kh/s
i5 2450m (2.9ghz) = 105 kh/s

every prozessor running with AVX

Nice, I only succeeded in compiling Linux and 32bit Windows versions, 64bit compile didn't go so well with for x86_64-w64.

Running a few laptops with it feeding into my testpool with modified pushpool/mmcfe, seems to work but might take some time before I mine a block at 500 KH/s. Will keep you posted.

Props for the binaries.

I have a 2600k @ 4.2 and I am getting 300 k/hs with minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -q -a scrypt-jane -o http://yac.dontmine.me:8080 -O x:x

(For me avs and ssse3 gives the same result).

I tried to add -t 8 like this

minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -q -a scrypt-jane -o -t 8 http://yac.dontmine.me:8080 -O x:x

but it did not work, there was an error stating unrecognised command for -t.

All 8 threads are already working , should i add -t 8 or -t 20 or any other flag to increase rate?

and if yes how?

Also my 1090t @ 3.6/ 2.6 NB is getting 250 Kh/s , I think its excellent for such a cpu!

i'm only able to run scrypt miner which i downloaded here when my yacoin client is up otherwise i get the following like this:

json rpc call failed, try again in 30 sec.

or...should the mining start without starting the yacoinclient and only create a start.bat with the in the first post written stats? I'm getting confused about this >.<

noone could help me with this issue until yet

Is this a good way for me to get some BTC? Mine YACoin with my CPU and sell for BTC. Anyone had their CPU melt by doing this or could that not happen? Seems a little scary to me, but if it works without destroying my hardware it would be a great way for people without huge GPU to get some coins...

i don't get it working....reinstalled yacoin client totally because i mined directly with the client before. now after the blockchain updated itself, i can start my self created start.bat with the following lines in it:

minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_ssse3.exe -q -a scrypt-jane -o http://127.0.0.1:8108 -O user:pass

[2013-05-11 13:02:20] 6 miner threads started, using 'scrypt-jane' algorithm.

below that ...no errors...no cores listed....simply nothing...my 6cores on my 1090t hit 100% usage ....and nothing is listed below in the cmd window =( i'm dissapointed right now.

if someone got tipps for me, please write me a pm or here in the thread.

On that note, OP, I am mining YAC on a pool with an AMD 8320 (says in FP that its not working) and I am getting about 190kh/s (according to minerd client, but I am only using 6 threads and I am browsing/watching netflix).  However, I have noticed I don't seem to be finding ANYTHING when solo mining.  Still says I am mining at 190kh/s but I've been mining since the 32bit client release and havent found a single block.  Pretty f*cking aggravating actually.

If anyone has sympathy for my pathetic ass, please feel free to donate a few YAC :(

A 32 bits binary can be build with
SSSE3 support?
Or just in x64 it's possible?

wondering this also. All my ops are win x86 due to the need in case of a comp failure and I have to put a non 64 bit cpu into the computers ( more or less for the kids and spare BU cpus )

Out of curiosity, does god3 or anyone know what kind of tasks/algorithms are better done on the SIMD units in CPU rather than GPU?

May be answering this question will help create a coin that is truly friendly to CPU mining in the long term?

Maybe magny cours is a bit better at script?

You're solo mining and won't see any shares being accepted as its not pooled mining. You will only see blocks if you manage to mine some.

It would seem that way.  My rig has 64GB of ECC DDR3 (ECC Disabled), Quad channel as well, just running windows 7 pro x64 (server os could make difference as well).  Magny cours were pretty good cpu's.  The extra .2ghz could be making most of the difference because mine won't throttle above 2.3 unless I am only running 16/32 cores, then it gets bumped to 2.5ghz @ 16 cores = 360kh/s = 720kh/s if it were able run at 2.5/32 cores.  So that could be the difference. Also, I'm running an ASUS KGPE-D16 Dual socket board, and it would seem you are running a quad socket board... I'm guessing Supermicro?  So your board is probably beefier/higher quality as well.

Will this be developed to work with normal scrypt mining? The hash rate seem comparable to GPU to my layman eyes.  :)

YAC use another algoritm, therefore comparing the speed is incorrect.
Maybe you can speed up the litecoin algorithm with SSE/AVX optimisations, but it is not an easy task. I have not enough time to do it, and so upload unfinished source files.

Core i7 2600k overclocked to 4.43 GHz.  Xigmatek Dark Knight Cooler.  Load temperatures are around the high 60s.

AVX - 320 KH/s.  Seemed to lower my GPU hashrate in CGminer by about 15KH/s for some reason.
SSSE - 325 KH/s.  Doesn't affect the hashrate of my GPU in CGminer at all.

Just got into YACoin, so let's see how this goes!  I'm still doing all of my GPU mining for Litecoins, so why not utilize my CPU as well?

I'm not 100% certain, but I think Windows 7 non server will only access one CPU only (possibly 2? Def. not more than 2) so running the server OS could be a huge boost for you. How many CPUs and cores does CPU-z detect? And yeah, I'm running on a 4P SM board, H8QGi-F to be precise.

No inrease in speed in x86 versions at all.
Standart and SSE run at same speed ~60 khash/sec
And it is slower if compare to original minerd (83 kh/s)
CPU is Phenom X6 @ 3.5 Ghz

I think you're going to burn the motherboard if you don't get a cooling pad for the laptop

Do they really make that big of a difference?

I have the back of my laptop propped up so it can get greater air-flow. I just always kind of thought they were bull shit because my laptop is getting plenty of air as it is. All that does is blow more air toward the fan, but does not increase the airflow through the heat pipe fins, and it's not like the air is going to be any colder supplied from that. I just picked my laptop up and the desk underneath is ~ the same temperature as the rest of my desk. But if you have any experience with them, I am always down to try.

EDIT: I cut it down to 4 threads about an hour ago, I am getting ~80kh/s less, and am running around 175F across the board now.

EDIT 2: I have a warranty and insurance on it, so I am not all too concerned. Lol.

Currently, no single pool did not found a solution for the last 5 hours. Since users are using the original version for Linux I can make the assumption that the problem is in the pools. But that's just a guess, a solo mining also have not find solutions yet.

I have no idea how to get this working :(

Setting up the miner

1. Download the miner.
Quote
Download [x86 and x64 versions in one pack]:
Link 1:http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?5j84evueiyak76l (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?5j84evueiyak76l)
Link 2:https://mega.co.nz/#!IdtmXQxQ!CBnopwIKXj_NBR54aHL9v2WS9f8gxUj8w0fTHWy6ie0 (https://mega.co.nz/#!IdtmXQxQ!CBnopwIKXj_NBR54aHL9v2WS9f8gxUj8w0fTHWy6ie0)

2. Unzip somewhere handy, and navigate to the folder.

3. Create a text file called yacoin.bat in the extracted folder.

4. Edit yacoin.bat, adding one of the following four lines, depending on your operating system.

Windows 64 bit*

Code:
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_ssse3.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD
minerd_scrypt_jane_x64.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD

Windows 32 bit

Code:
minerd_scrypt_jane_x32.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD

*Note: AVX support started from Windows 7 x64 SP1. You may need to experiment until you choose the best exe file for your operating system and processor.

5. Replace the URL, PORT, USER and PASSWORD with the relevant details depending on where you are mining and save the text file.

6. Click the newly created yacoin.bat to start mining.

To make your life easier, you could right click your yacoin.bat file and create a shortcut on your Desktop for easy launching of the miner. If you ever need to change the config, just return to the folder and edit the .bat file.

Troubleshooting

If the miner exits immediately, check config carefully and try again. If you're not sure which version of the miner you should be using, try one of the other .exe files (change it in yacoin.bat).

That version only for Windows 7 64 (optimised) / 32. Some users run it on Windows XP 64, Windows Server 2008.

Thank you thank you, this is working fine.  what would it take to compile with sha256, and scrypt (ssse3, win).  also how about for linux base?  i will do it personally if you can just point me in the right direction. many thanks. accepting tips?

sha256 and scrypt in my sources are broken;) I do not set the goal to make them work. At the start, there was only one YACoin miner under Windows x86 who worked at 3-4 times slower and I decided to fix it.
I have no plans for further work on this software. For those who wish to continue I provided the source files.

For Linux you can look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200147.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200147.0).

Is minerd_scrypt_jane_x32.exe more optimized than scrypt(N,1,1) optimized miner posted some days ago?

I don't think so. But I've never tried another version, apparently it was compiled using mingw and should run a little faster

ok guys i use this

minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -q -a scrypt-jane -o http://yac.dontmine.me:8080 -O username:pass

and i am getting 295-265 k/hs on CMD with a 2600k @ 4.2 GHz is this normal? should i use any other flags?

CAN I close minerd WITHOUT closing CMD?

I keep getting an error "minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe has stopped working" when I start it.

Downloaded miners from this thread, started 32-bit miner but it complained about normaliz.dll missing. Found and registered that .dll but some other shit keeps poping-up. Gave up.

Windows 7? Such problem was on Windows XP: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=201027.msg2109154#msg2109154 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=201027.msg2109154#msg2109154)

make sure that you install Internet Explorer 8 ...that fixed my problem with the normaliz.dll -you also need the latest service pack and all updates on xp (xp 32bit servicepack 3 - xp64 servicepack 2)

Install IE? I'll rather dump computer in the shredder.  :D

the only use of ie is to download firefox/chrome  ;D

btw, there is one more windows 7/8 download posted in some of yac threads, it's bit different than this one. I haven't use it on my personal computer, don't know is it safe so only on servers and it gives at least double hash power for me than this one does.

Here is the link BUT use on your own responsibility, I haven't noticed anything but to be safe used it only on servers

I'm using WinXP still and slowly but surely moving to Ubuntu since I don't feel like upgrading to Win7+ or staying with OS that won't be supported anymore quite soon (end of year).

Win7 is pretty good though.

Note: On my CPU, AVX crashes. :( :( :(

AVX will not work on your CPU, it doesn't support AVX, if it did in the intel description it would display AVX in Instruction Set Extensions. Example:

Do I get the YAC?  ;D

Solo mining still doesn't work, right?

My hash rate is so low I don't feel like mining with a pool. My only interest now is a little bit of solo mining from time to time as a kind of lottery.

i was a little disappointed with the hasrate on my i5 (~130khash) but N difficulty increases in this coin reduce hash rate from the dizzying heights shown in the first post

try adding -t 7 (if you want to mine other coins at same time ) or -t 8 if want to get max Hashrate.

Also I am on I7 3770K oc'd to 4.9Ghz and getting 125Khash on -t7 so I would say you are pretty close to normal Hashrate of your 2700k if its not OC'd to 4.7-5Ghz

Likewise, so would expect it to work at the same speed, however, I've found that this isn't the case.

On my i7 2600k at 4.4GHz, max speed is presently around 115-118kh/s with -t 8 and 122-125kh/s with -t 16/32. Go figure.

N increased early this morning. When that happens your hash rate gets cut in half. From the start of this thread to this post it's changed three times, I think?

I was getting 120khash on 4 cores of a Phenom II 955 x4 CPU now I'm getting 16khash.

It's normal.

Does anyone know of a special miner build that has been optimized for ARM processors? Do ARM processors even have any instructions that are useful for hashing purposes?

I was kind of wondering if I could somehow put my Raspberry Pi board to work mining Yacs ... :-)

The raspberry has a powerful gpu the cpu is not that impressive.
Maybe an ARM farm could be interesting

You don't need a special build, you can compile the scrypt-jane minerd on ARM, though I needed to do a couple minor source code modifications so that it compiles.

In case you are wondering, it's not worth it, hash rate is (with current N=512) 0.23kh/s out of the box, 0.24kh/s after some ARM compiler flags  :P

it should work the same way as the SSE3 version, just faster. since your cpu has avx i dont know why its not working, maybe chipset drivers but thats another minefeild

Just compile it with the adequate flags:

Thanks for the tip on ARM, I guess my Raspberry will be put to use doing more useful things :-)

Is anyone mining on http://yac.procrypto.com:8336 ?

I've been doing that all day, and yet no payout of any kind. My target address is not listed on the payout page either.

Is that normal with p2pool type mining pools? What should I expect?

Show me the line you are using to launch minerd.

My pool pays out pretty quickly after each block is found. If you've not been paid out all day, something isn't set up right.

No, the author focused on scrypt-jane which means yac. Might come in a future release.

try adding -t 5 before the pool info, should give you a bit more, but the OP screenshot is a bit misleading now as difficulty is so high hash rate has reduced massivly. not sure the average time of a share now at 16khash, i gave up when it was in the 70's

I'm in the same boat with an i7 2700k.  I get about 4.8kHs/sec and I maybe get 1 or 2 accepted shares per block, if I'm lucky.  I was hoping to find a thread dealing with some way to optimize the miner so I could increase my accepted shares.

I guess I'm just annoyed at missing out on whole blocks because I couldn't even find a share in the x minutes it takes to get the block.  Not sure if there's something in particular I'm doing wrong. By the sounds of it I'm not though, and that's just the way it goes?

The answer is to mine solo. Then there is no such thing as 'stale share'. The only you should have configured is 'scantime' set to 1 sec (-s 1).
With current diff. on i7 you will get a block once in a 30h (on average). I've mined several blocks already... In a long run solo mining a bit more profitable and fun.
Also solo mining ideologically much better than pool mining, due to decentralization.

I've gotten some interesting results:

On an i3 (sandy bridge 3.1 Ghz) x64 machine, it was reporting over 250 kh/s using AVX! Alas, none of the 6000+ blocks (after running overnight) appeared in the p2pool I was pointing to (nor did my address).  Haven't had time to try another pool with that machine yet.

On an i7 (older) laptop (no AVX), it's reporting only 7 or 8 kh/s (using ssse3), lower than 'generic' minerd did (before the AV at work blew it away). I should add this is with the x86 version as we are still using XP :(  At least these are getting reported!

So was the 250kh/s a reporting error or is the i3 (or AVX) that amazing?  Similarly, is the i7's ssse3 that bad?

- well, now my i3 is running a 'normal' sub-14 kh/s rate on 3 different sites using either avx or ssse3 :(

no, it's just part of YAC algorithm: hash rate gradually decrease over time. But 64-bit AVX indeed faster (not so much as you think)

I think you might have picked the wrong algorithm on your i3.  I've got several machines I can report hash rates on, an i5, two (different generations) i7's, a Core2 and a dual Xeon.  The current fastest machine is my Coire i7 3610 (Ivy Bridge) and it gets around 24 KHash/sec (using 7 of 8 threads).  The Core 2 (which your laptop probably is) is around 6 KH/sec.  The others fall in between those.

I wonder what is the best (= most efficient) CPU for YAC mining (= scrypt-jane algo) at the moment? Is Quad Core preferred over Dual Core?

I'd like to assemble a sweet little YACoin Miner and have an older Asus P5B Deluxe board (Socket LGA775) with Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 on hand.

So, should I stick to the X6800 or upgrade to an E8600 (dual core)/Q9650 (quad core) for best mining performance? TIA!

Getting 0.05 khash/s per core on my i7 3930 solo mining.

minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_avx.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://127.0.0.1:6724 -u user -p pass

SSSE3 just crashes on startup.

I tried compiling the source with visual studio 2010, but there are alot of errors. I just start the .sln file and compile as release. Is there something else we have to do to compile or the source just has errors?

I'm not sure I'm seeing what's wrong?  Are you thinking those numbers are wrong?  They're slightly low for that CPU (I have a 3610QM), but it could just be which package you're using.  The latest CPU miner is here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=206577.msg3901104#msg3901104 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=206577.msg3901104#msg3901104).  For your CPU, use the "minerd-avx" executable.  Your rate per thread should be .09-.10 khash/s.  My recommendation is to run the number of thread equal to or 1 less than the number of threads your cpu has (I believe you have 8 also?), so "-t 7" or "-t 8".

On top of it being the better performance for your CPU, it also supports stratum, so if you're mining at coinmine.pl, configure it for stratum for fewer stales!

Thanks for reply,

yes 8 threads. And also I just checked with CPU-Z it show processor support AVX.
Using normal CPU miner I have about 7 khash/s - 8 khash/s per one thread, so using 4 threads I can run it with ~30khash/s.

Found your program was really wonder that possible to do CPU mining with ~200 - 300 khash/s.
Now trying to check what can I get with my CPU too :)

With normal miner I have:
[2013-12-12 17:43:25] Stratum detected new block
[2013-12-12 17:43:25] thread 1: 4560 hashes, 7.86 khash/s

[2013-12-12 17:43:25] thread 0: 1104 hashes, 7.36 khash/s

With miner-avx you gave link, lower results :(
[2013-12-12 17:43:03] Stratum detected new block
[2013-12-12 17:43:03] thread 0: 45 hashes, 0.12 khash/s

[2013-12-12 17:43:03] thread 1: 45 hashes, 0.12 khash/s
[2013-12-12 17:43:03] thread 2: 45 hashes, 0.12 khash/s

Very strange, do you have an idea what can be wrong?
Thanks!

Post by: Thirtybird on December 12, 2013, 04:33:41 PM
Nothing is wrong - you're comparing mining scrypt based coins with mining YACoin.  YACoin has an increasing number of iterations in the hashing algorithm represented by N, which increases periodically (currently 14 - litecoin is fixed at 9).  The more times through, the more memory it requires and the longer it takes, hence the decreased hashrate you're questioning.  Everyone mining YACoin is affected, so the playing field is still the same - the difficulty is MUCH lower than litecoin or digitalcoin, or worldcoin, or whatever coin you might compare it to so people are still able to find a block in ~1 minute.  Your hashrate of .12 khash/sec per core is pretty good actually - especially for a laptop!

for more reading on how this coin differs, check the wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacoin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacoin)

Thats right,
but I mean difference when I use normal cpuminer and downloaded here.

As I understand from the topic, this one should to give more high hashrate.

I have another result: normal miner giving more high hashrate then this one :)

Your post where you're seeing 7KH/sec per thread is using a miner that is NOT mining YACoin - it is using a different algorithm and won't ever solve a share.  I've got a 24 core Xeon server and it generates 1.5KH/sec total (so about .06 KH/sec/core)

The latest CPU miner compiled for Windows is posted here http://github.com/thirtybird/cpuminer/releases/ (http://github.com/thirtybird/cpuminer/releases/) and performs better than the ssse3 posted here thanks to some optimizations to the library another dev did.

Also, check your CPU against the list posted here http://yacoinwiki.tk/index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison (http://yacoinwiki.tk/index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison) if you think you're getting 30KH/sec from your CPU (or even your GPU).

LOL will go to get correct CPU and will put inside miner ;)

But also question:
I tried also to run GPU miner listed on YaCoin website, it also not working with my 7870 card, giving output 1KH/s only, not 50KHs or 100Khs as  people writing
 :( too bad...
Or maybe I need to compile code on machine where I want to use it?

Checking here

I see absolutely another results for i7-3770S    4 : 0.53 KH/s   minerd_scrypt_jane_x86_avx.exe
thats same CPU miner, right?
Why here you have ~500 Khs with same CPU and listed in wiki so low results ?

Or I miss something?

I still not sure you've finally grasped that the hashrate goes down as the N factor goes up and you cannot compare someones hasrate even from October to the hashrate today. :-\  I'm not sure how else to descibe it to you.  Perhaps you should go read the wikipedia page on YACoing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacoin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacoin) and look at the network graphs on YAC Explorer http://yacexplorer.tk/graphs.htm (http://yacexplorer.tk/graphs.htm).  That hashrate is probably a tad low for that CPU, but that could just be because that person is running the x86 version of the CPU miner program, and it might not be the one with the optimized scrypt jane library - I don't know, it wasn't my edit.  All I can do is try to give you correct and up-to-date information.

So I'm running minerd_scrypt_jane_x86_avx.exe on 2 machines:

1) 4-core E3-1240 (It's a Xeon Sandy Bridge running at 3.3ghz)
2) 6-core Core i7-3930K, overclocked to 4.2ghz

However, I get the same hashrate per core on both (0.06kHs/thread). How can that be?

Also, my specific Core i7 model is listed on:
http://yacoinwiki.tk/index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

and stated as performing at 1.2kHs in total.

I'm using the exact same miner, but mine totals 0.72kHs. Is my configuration wrong, or is the site out of date perhaps with regard to current difficulty?

The webpage denotes the right NFactor (which is what is important for determining hash).  It's possible that was not the miner they were using, and it might have been the 64 bit version or something.  I strongly recommend using the latest CPU miner here : https://github.com/Thirtybird/cpuminer/releases (https://github.com/Thirtybird/cpuminer/releases).  It supports stratum and also has the optimized scrypt-chacha routines mikaelh authored.

You will see a performance increase by using the x64 miner so long as you installed Windows x64.  For the i7 3930, you'll probably be best off with the AVX executable.  You'll have to experiment with the Xeon though - but my guess would be the minerd-corei7 will work.

Woo-hoo!! That miner gives me 1.32kHs on my Core i7. (and 0.8kHs on my Xeon as well).

Thanks a bunch!

Glad to have another miner on the coin :)

My Xeon isn't very impressive either.  It's 24 cores and tops out at 1.5 KH/sec - the newer generation of CPU's are just so much more efficient and faster that I don't even use it right now.

Well, thanks for my 3 blocks so far :).

Is there anyway on your cpuminer release to see current difficulty and best share?

I have plans and thoughts on converting the interface to be more akin to YACMiner (GPU miner) using curses, but I just haven't gotten that far..

Is it possible to add --nfmin --nfmax and --ntime command line arguments?

That would enable this miner to work with any scrypt-jane coin. :-)

Is this only for YAC?

I'm trying to mine us.clevermining.com but any of those additional .exe won't run with

minerd.exe --url=stratum+tcp://us.clevermining.com:3333 --userpass=user:pass -t 10

nor same above but based on minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_ssse3.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD

nor a combination of new exe with -o instead of --url= and vis versa.

I'm just trying to get the most out of my i3-3220, i get 24 kh/s with pooler's 2.3.3

clevermining is a scrypt multi-pool.  You're specifying the wrong algorithm.

try "-a scrypt"

Just we 2 have found your thread ;D
Have a look at the ultracoin thread. Ultracoin is based on scrypt jane. And the ultracoin community is looking for a descent cpuminer because the n-factor is 11 and next month 12. GPU mining starts getting problematic. Cpumining is the future for ultracoin.
It would be great if you could integrate the 3 command line arguments.

Hope you could make it,
Janus

PS:
After integration you might rename your miner to sjcpuminer or just sjminer to signalize that it is for scrypt jane mining.

I slaved all night, and added command line options requested and called it version 2.4.0
--nfmin
--nfmax
--starttime
(the same ones as YACMiner - The AMD GPU Miner I'm maintaining)

I also put in a few other fixes from the main cpuminer branch.  Source is all there - Will do Windows binary release in the next day or two.

Get a faster processor. Make sure you're using the cpu miner with stratum support I keep mentioning.

Not the answer you wanted I'm sure, but when you understand how an incrementing N factor coin works, and the fact that YACoin is at N=14 now when it was probably at N=6 or somewhere in that neighborhood when looking at that old post.  The numbers do not compare at all.

I already did

Not the answer you wanted I'm sure, but when you understand how an incrementing N factor coin works, and the fact that YACoin is at N=14 now when it was probably at N=6 or somewhere in that neighborhood when looking at that old post.  The numbers do not compare at all.

Looking at the main post, it appears those numbers are from when N = 4.  N is the number of iterations needed to perform a calculation, so everytime N goes up by 1, the number of iterations doubles.  So, 1 << (14-4)  = 1024 time longer to perform one calculation than it did in the post you're quoting from nearly a year ago.  Multiply your .55 by 1024, and that will let you roughly compare to what it was back then, but those numbers do not matter.  All that matters is what it takes now, and everyone is playing the same ballgame - your CPU performance will always be the same relative to someone elses CPU performance at any given time (based on the CPU)

It's been almost a month since I'm mining for that currency Yacoin with a Q9550 quad core processor 2 which is faster than Q6600, however the rendering it not in this kh / s but in hash / s. So I ask colleagues who have more experience, is that my setup is wrong or was that impede increased in recent days too, if the answer is the second option I definitely leaving this virtual currency. It is absurd performance of over 200kh / s drops below 1kh / s. ??? :-[

Okay, well bye then.  There is no reason not to understand the increasing nfactor after one year and what it does to everyones hashrate.  That leaves an unwillingness to read as the only remaining option.

If this makes it difficult to continue to increase so soon will soon be unfeasible for anyone to mine that currency because paresse so it does not fit well with gpu's, cpu's just finds it easier to mine.

There's a much newer version of the miner that's optimized for YAC and supports stratum.  It's in my signature.  1 KH/sec is unlikely with most all desktop CPU's.  Check the following hardware comparison page http://yacoinwiki.tk/index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

Hey guys,
I don't want to clutter up the thread with useless stuff, but I've been reading over everything to figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I'm using a Core I5 3210M and I can't even get out of 'hash' speed territory (into khash). I didn't even notice it at first, but that's a huge difference. Right now it gets around 18 hash/s. I'm using the 2.4.0 cpu miner build from Thirtybird's releases page. Is this the 'old' build still? I tried downloading the one initially presented in this thread, but it won't connect to the stratum address.

Please forgive me if I'm being obtuse and missing something. I'm just starting with this whole cryptocurrency thing. I read up and down, and the only thing I didn't do was actually compile the binary that's here.

Thanks for the help

You might want to google around on subjects like "N-Factor" :)  N goes up by 1, CPU mining hashrate is reduced by 50% (simplified example here) - and N is now 16, so hashrate would be 64 or 128 times slower than CPU scrypt mining.  Noones CPU is in KHash range any longer.  18 hash/sec sounds like a single thread speed - i5's usually have 4, so if you're around 72 hash/sec with that cpu, that might be around right... my i7 does 184 Hash/sec, which is real similar to my 2GB radeon GPUs (at 195 stable, 205 unstable)

Ah, I get it now. I lack proper confidence, so I always assume it's my fault - haha. Makes sense now. I really didn't understand the N factor beyond seeing it. Thanks much for pointing that out. But yeah, 18 was one of the threads only. I get about 80 hashes combined. I'm a broke musician, and YAC is pretty much the only CPU coin that is worth anything these days. I want to explore mining on better hardware, but I have to wait until I get signed *ha*  ;D

Well, it seems that I arrived too late for YAC. I can't even break 10 coins in 8 hrs now, 2 days ago at least I could get about 40 in that time. :(
