Title: Will Bitcoin Cash overcome the original Bitcoin?
Post by: Abiky on July 27, 2017, 02:35:57 PM
Due to the controversies of the BIP 91 proposal, Bitcoin mining provider ViaBTC and other supporters are planning a hark fork on August 1st. It will be called Bitcoin Cash with a block size of 8mb.

Now, it would be up to debate whenever this separate chain becomes successful in the future and it gets the attention from major exchanges, businesses, and startups that support Bitcoin.

Do you think Bitcoin Cash might overcome the original Bitcoin we know and love in the future? Or will SegWit2x prevail and render other forks useless?

I would like to know your opinion about this :)

Bitcoin Cash is just another version of bitcoin made by people who are "not happy" with what SegWit could do for them (or at least not happy with what they could do with SegWit). Besides, who would want to rely billions of dollars to a code that was rushed by people that just aren't "happy" with SegWit? ::)

Personal opinion, not likely. In reality, it will depend on the adaptation, if companies/sites/exchanges start accepting it, it might gather some steam. For example, I just got an email from 1Broker regarding Bitcoin Cash that they will not support the split nor the distribution of Bitcoin Cash. Now, I don't know who supports what and what not but this will play a major role on Bitcoin Cash acceptance.

There is a poll in discussion thread about the possible outcomes of Bitcoin Cash, there is a coexist option, bitcoin and BCC would coexist with latter having a lower price than former, right now IMO it is not about coexistence, BCC ≠ BTC, so an altcoin and this is what defines BCC now, a cryptocurrency that is alternative to bitcoin, so many alternatives, not equal, so not bitcoin.

Would BCC overcome bitcoin in future is a tricky question to answer at this point in time. If I am right ETH, Bytecoin, Monero, Zcash have gone through forking and some got the better of originality and some got the better of the forked version.

No comparison between these cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, globally accepted first crypto, 9 years, $42 billion cap. Would a forked version of bitcoin be able to get a better of these stats, there is majority, super majority, economic majority, consensus. Let's see how it plays out.

Right now Segwit activation is what matters and personally I don't agree with hard fork three months after that. No efficient planning, lack of developers, lack of revewing by proficient developers, lack of testing, how much of all these can be achieved in three months. If I am right BU had messed up with their coding. A hard fork is not backwards compatible, messed up, and it is messed up. It was six months and then three months and now UAHF in midst of Segwit activation, what's this rush all about?

Bitcoin Cash will just be dumped by the time it can be traded in an exchange that would accept it. Right now, there are already some exchanges which issued statement that they will never be supporting Bitcoin Cash. Well, let's see how this new coin can behave. Bitcoin Cash can never overtake Bitcoin as we know that the original will be trusted more than its counterfeit.

Yeah. The big exchanges have already declared that they won't be supporting Bitcoin Cash, so it may not turn out to become a huge success when its begins trading after August 1st. Also, if Chinese miners decide to stay with the original Bitcoin, the forked version of the pioneer cryptocurrency will die eventually as a great minority will only use it.

But, we can never tell for sure what will happen after Bitcoin Cash emerges, since crypto land is extremely unpredictable. Perhaps, it would be able to survive just like Ethereum Classic did when it separated from Ethereum, or it will become another useless coin.

Nevertheless, it would be wise to keep close attention to Bitcoin Cash, in case it experiences a sudden popularity. Since Bitcoin holders would be able to claim Bitcoin Cash, they've got nothing to lose as they sell it for profit. Just sharing my thoughts ;D

It's actually in everyones interest that BCC does die or there will be forks at every turn in the future in order to get free coins or try unpopular ideas. I certainly hope we don't see an ETC kind of situation arising.

It is highly unlikely that bitcoin cash will overcome the original version but you never know how things will go in the future but i am expecting that bitcoin will hold its ground and strive for a better future and i am eagerly waiting to see what will happen this coming week.

I think no it will be still good to use bitcoin instead of using bitcoin cash and the use of bitcoin use already been succeed from past few years ..
So bitcoin will be still be the original because we already use bitcoin in many years If its not supported by some exchange site well expect that BCC will getting no value in the future and bitcoin will be still stay with a large value .
Like other said chinesse are want to stay using the orginal bitcoin instead of bitcoin cash that actually useless of using hard fork of bitcoin..
Well we will see the outcome after this week and hope the outcome will be good but i still believe the bitcoin cash will be useless.

It's look like. Bitcoin value will skyrocket after SegWit

Mt prediction is it gets dumped - then sits low for a while - then gets pumped to co-exist at 10-20% of BTC price. I don't just see it fizzling away into nothing but also don't see it overtaking btc.

For now, there are no serious signs that Bitcoin Cash could overcome original Bitcoin. Even majority of wallets will not support BCC at the begining.
But I also don't believe that it will be dumped as some people says. I think that Bitcoin Cash can be strong altcoin, which may overcome current leaders. Now it's hard to say, everything is at speculations level. But I expect that we will see BCC in top 3 by market cap.

Bitcoin is the mother of all altcoins. Why should they even bother competing with it.

so far as i know this had nothing to do with BIP91.
it all started with BIP148 and bitmain trying to show off their power and calling for a hard fork ONLY in case BIP148 was successful. but since BIP91 locked in and now BIP141 (SegWit) has 100% support of the miners, bitmain announced they won't go through with it.

but ViaBTC picked it up and the entities behind bitcoinABC started pushing for it and advertising it.

the problem with bitcoin cash is that everyone considers it as an altcoin. and most people even see it as an insult because they are a small group trying to "force" a split disregarding the consensus that the majority reached.

it also doesn't offer anything special. they are increasing block size to a huge number all of a sudden and may eventually end up like coins with supernodes which is in fact centralizing bitcoin. and nobody wants that.

not to mention how easy it becomes to perform at least 4 different types of spam attack on their chain and their nodes to cripple them! i may start a topic about these types in the future. ;)

I am unlikely that the original bitcoin will be resolved by bitcoin cash, you know how it will run in the future andapun not yet know it. Bitcoin will survive and fight for a better future and I am vigorously, that's my hope in bitcoin.

From what I gather it doesn't stop spam attacks. The spammers will be right back to it the next time they want an update.

BCC will not be able to overtake the BTC because the BTC is the king of all cryptocurrency, if the BTC loses its value, no altcoin will survive and the crypto world will collapse.

i am agree with you because the original will always be original and its not the same with the other. i am sure that bitcoin will more famous than now because of originality. there will be no 2 leader in the same boat and only the real king will survive and lead the way to the right path which is bitcoin. maybe bcc will gets famous too but not too famous depend with bitcoin.

The main issue I have with BCC is that it has a dynamic difficulty adjustment, basically a way to artificially keep the chain alive even if there isn't enough mining support. Bixin mining pool mentions it in an article here

In my opinion, I don't think that bitcoin cash will overcome bitcoin. Bitcoin have proven itself for years and I don't think I can trust those who just imitates bitcoin's framework. Me and my brother pondered about this matter. And he thinks that those people who like to push the split just wanted to make new coins using btc's original chain.

No, I do not think that bitcoin cash will have the power or potential to take over bitcoin's path. Instead, it will remain to be a great altcoin that should bring quite a bit of profit if invested smartly and properly. Bitcoin will always remain to be the main and biggest crypto, not BCC.

Judging by the reactions of some exchanges, there is apparently more interest from their customers in this altcoin than I would have thought. Now, the question is why: 1) Do people just want a free airdrop, that they can quickly dump on their exchange? 2) Or do people actually like the fundamentals of BCC and want to trade/accumulate it? The whole premise of BCC is ridiculous and the dev team is incompetent. But I find the game theory around all this exciting. To be honest.....even though it's just an altcoin, the right marketing on a Bitcoin fork with impressive hashpower = I wouldn't be surprised to see it gain popularity and actually threaten Bitcoin's network effect. And I do think this would be bad for price in the mid term.

I could not understand why so many likes BTC and against BCC, they are brothers and should grow up together, people whoever owns BTC now wil become owners for both in future, there is no obvious reason why loss faith for BCC all of a sudden. end of the day they are al;l bitcoins.

if you treat both well and show your 'decentralised' attitudes towards the two coins, you might end up win &win!

It is really sad to see that after the fork fears were well but over, they have started this Bitcoin cash, for me they are just using the name Bitcoin, Bitcoin cash is a alt and post first day, it price shall take a dump and it shall be over, any user investing in it will be really stupid, and I will be surprised if it last more than a week, people are smarter these days, so don't think it shall last. Just another alt will die soon.

I don't see any possibility of bitcoin cash taking the place of or overcoming bitcoin. Bitcoin cash will end up staying there in the market as another altcoin. Bitcoin cash might replace some other altcoins and become second or third in terms of price but it can't overcome bitcoin, bitcoin has  its reach among masses and it's not possible for any other altcoins to achieve that level of reach and acceptance anytime soon.

For my opinion I think that it would really never overcome the original,
It is just like the Ethereum and Etheruem Classic the 2nd one can't overcome the original.
The original has already build a trust to those who are using it since the beginning .

I add my vote to the No and explain why if interested.

Miners Greek Circle
Back to the drawing board. Miners either mine for themselves or for someone else for a fee.

If mining for themselves, it's a Greek Circle, let them do whatever they want.

If mining for someone else, say like me as a customer for cloud mining or for renting mining rings, then I will not be interested in mining BCC.

Lunatic Hallucinations
"Ah, Segwit will lose us revenue, so no to Segwit, we hard fork". It is acceptable that they believe themselves, thinking their idea is bright. It is a lunatic hallucination to believe that anyone would subscibe to this reasoning as it only places the community under the total mercy of the miners.

51% attack
At D-day BCC will be hyped, FUD spread etc and BCC will have a good start, taking the ride using "other people's money".
The load-off the network will reduce BTC difficulty and mining will remain profitable even if BTC/USD drop for any reason.
When the BCC ride is no longer sustainable, looking back at BTC will reveal the how far the two have come apart. In this case, there are two options:
Abort BCC and revert to BTC: that would hurt at the beginning but long term it will be positive for them.
Or, à la Luke Jr, they could target a moment in time where BTC/USD is low or difficulty is low or any similar situation and hijack the blockchain: this would be "Predestination"; the new blockchain will not be adopted. It's like that kid doing everything to impose himself but he just have no friends. Atypical to what a community, decentralised grass roots concept would always lead the system.

Bitcoin Cash is a waste of time and money, simple as that.

I really dont know why ViaBTC and other mining pools are supporting this hard fork thus creating Bitcoin Cash, It seems this is strategy just to get some money, how can ViaBTC start trading a currency that doesn't seem to exist in the first place, I hope investors boycott it and stick to the Bitcoins we all know.

I really doubt bitcoin cash will do well. Sure, it's got the support of some big-name miners, namely viaBTC, but the base concept is horrible. It revolves around the fact that bitcoin is going towards an ecosystem much like gold, with high transaction fees, slow confirmation times but with a high value. The thing is, that's only how bitcoin is now. Segwit has the potential to change that, and at the rate the dev team is going, it might even work. But maybe we all can make a quick buck off BCC :)

I admit that ever will be issued a plastic card which will act as a offline bitcoin wallet, but what will exist in the Fiat bitcoin I don't believe it. Printing money is a very complicated process which can only afford the state. The idea of the cash of bitcoin is contrary to the decentralization and never will be supported by the community.

The only people that have interest in Bitcoin Cash are traders. Traders by nature have interest in everything that can make them money. If they would find an easy way of making money out of cow manure they would also buy/sell that. I think most of them will jump onboard, just for a quick buck.

No, bitcoin cash can never take place of original bitcoin. I beleive the highest demand of bitcoin would not let it overcome the original but may defeat altcoins in value.
therefore if fork is successful on august 1, bitcoin cash has  only chances to be thrusted in altcoins.

Bitcoin cash will just be like another alternative coin the is forked from the popular and commonly used bitcoin.

There are news that bitcoin cash don't have that decent price so other are having some predictions that it will not be a big deal. But there are big names that are pushing it through so I think it will be hitting a good place when the time comes. So I think what we are waiting is the SegWit and not the new digital currency.

It wont be easy where the bitcoin cash can overcome the original bitcoin. Even it happens it will not stay for too long where it can overpower bitcoin in volume and its demand. I expect nothing much but might be a good hype at present and just panic among its holders.

Bitcoin Cash is like an Altcoin. There are many Altcoins available in Cryptocurrency market which are better than Bitcoin on technical levels. But they aren't as popular as Bitcoin, reason being the place where Bitcoin is today is hard to achieve by and other cryptocurrency. So would be the case with BCC. BCC doesn't has the potential to beat Bitcoin. Moreover, Bitcoin community isn't very happy with fork and has decided to dump it on 1st August. I don't see any any successful future of BCC.

No, I really don't think so that it will overcome the original. So I do not assume that it will happen. The best will not go down just like that. Bcc will not really top bitcoin. And bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that were created.  It will not go down easily.

Even if a hard fork occurs, then also, bitcoin cash would be just an altcoin and it would not be able to overcome bitcoin.Just as hard fork occured in ethereum and made it split into ethereum and ethereum classic.ETC has no importance when compared to ETH.Just BCC might remain alive for few days giving some extra cash to bitcoin holders and then it would just disappear in due course of time.

I think that the question consider on this post it's wrong, cause after 1 August there will be NO more original Bitcoin, we can talk about what will be the stronger coin, Bitcoin Cash or Bitcoin Segwit, but treat one like the original Bitcoin without any base... If u understand the consequences of segwit, in the sense of changing bitcoin protocol, you cant say anymore original Bitcoin.

PD: Another thing would be discuss about wich is the most similar to the original proposal of Bitcoin...

I have same opinion regarding the bitcoin cash. They are not better than genuine coins. The bitcoin cash is going to attract new traders but not the experts. If it is going to raise all of sudden then will die within no time. I recommend not going after this cash madly. Just focus on real bitcoins in order to have huge profit.

yes you are right the price can overcome the loss soon the bitcoin is just waiting till the date of first august when the bitcoin will increase it will not stop then it will keep on increasing for long time .Holding your bitcoin is very necessary now because if you will sell your bitcoin now a day’s then I think it is not a perfect time for bitcoin to be sold.

It is highly unlikely that bitcoin cash will overcome the original version but you never know how things will go in the future but i am expecting that bitcoin will hold its ground and strive for a better future and i am eagerly waiting to see what will happen this coming week.

Yeah. We'll never know what will happen for sure after Bitcoin Cash emerges, if it will stay in crypto land from now and beyond. If it manages to survive like Ethereum Classic did when it forked, then it could remain actively traded and supported on the markets.

Today is the day in which Bitcoin Cash becomes a reality, so we would have to wait and see what happens after a few months from now, what its price will be. Since the majority of exchanges and service providers have announced that they won't be supporting Bitcoin Cash, perhaps the cryptocurrency would not gain much traction and become left behind other altcoins.

But, if it becomes a success, then it could rise and become the third largest cryptocurrency in market cap. The possibilities are endless. Just my opinion :)

BCC will ofcourse cannot compete the real blockchain of BTC but surely it can make its mark and even if you consider it an altcoin, who knows it value may cross the value and volume of the 2nd largest digital currency ETH. I think saving BCC is not a bd idea, as no one knows now where it can go high or low. Also You can get free BCC if you have Bitcoins stored in bittrex.  ;)

Agree. Bitcoin Cash may never replace the original Bitcoin blockchain. But, as it grows in user acceptance, development, and popularity, it could become a bigger cryptocurrency in market cap eventually surpassing Ethereum and taking its place as the second largest cryptocurrency in market cap.

Right now, it has been massively declining in price, but if Bitcoin Cash manages to strengthen itself, then it could rise back up again. It wouldn't hurt to invest some money into it for the long term, and if you had Bitcoins before August 1st, then you would have the same balance in Bitcoin Cash making it ideal for holding into the long term once everything settles.

As for me, I've sold my Bitcoin Cash obtained with my Bitcoin balance prior to the hard fork, and have earned good money. However, I'm planning to invest more into it as you'll never know what will happen in the future.

Only time will tell if Bitcoin Cash will fail or it will become stronger and stay alongside Bitcoin. Just my thoughts ;D

Bitcoin cash is just another altcoin, and not single one of alt is never been bigger then bitcoin and never will be. Bitcoin cash was good attempt i must say to give everyone same amount they have in bitcoin. This was bold move but eventually people greed for more money ended like it should with every alt price is falling.

If the BCC price drops to 0.03 to 0.05 bitcoin, I think it is good value and might buy more.

To be honest think that even 0.03 will be good if they maintain this one after all this fuzz about it.

Bitcoincash will never overcome the bitcoin.

Nothing will happen he is going to his right place to be under ETH and he will even go below LTC in price. He will be among few that are worth something but he will never ever go to higher then bitcoin he might not even go higher then ETH. For more exchanges this mean price will drop again and again. Who ever exchange it when all started made profit rest hope for something big.

Exactly. Bitcoin Cash can never overcome Bitcoin as it lacks the strength and wide user acceptance it needs to do so. On the contrary, Bitcoin is the original chain with a wider audience and stronger hashrate, making it the top choice for anyone who would want to secure their funds for the long term, or use it as a store of value like Gold.

With this in mind, Bitcoin will continue to rise in value over the course of years, while Bitcoin Cash will continue to decline massively in price unless it spikes in user interest and support.

But until now, Bitcoin Cash is just another altcoin that may become worthless as time goes by. It could all change if it gains traction, but it is very unlikely that it will happen.

Nevertheless, we can all enjoy the goodness of Bitcoin's security and acceptance, while taking advantage of the high transaction throughput that Bitcoin Cash provides. Just my thoughts ;D

Long term only one chain will survive with meaningful value.
If everything works as planed with Segwit, Bitcoin Cash will Crash.
Any net search will lead to Bitcoin.

Exactly. If Bitcoin Cash continues to decline in value over the exchanges, and provides poor innovation, then it will die soon. On the contrary, Bitcoin is the original chain and has managed to gather a wide audience, which has the longest standing reputation and support from its miners and node operators.

As of now, mining Bitcoin is more profitable than doing so with Bitcoin Cash, so miners will stay with the original chain, unless it becomes profitable to mine in the BCH chain.

Things aside, it's been a week since the launch of BCH, yet there hasn't been any innovation or active development. If it remains as is, then it will be just a pure speculative coin, and another altcoin which is cloned from Bitcoin's codebase.

The original Bitcoin chain will grow and survive for many years to come. Exciting things like SegWit, block size increase, and the Lightning Network, will greatly boost its adoption and make a positive effect in its price.

All that lies ahead is for SegWit2x to become fully complete (the block size increase part) and Bitcoin would've made a major milestone in history. Just my thoughts ;D

Segwit2x will crash the price again, because nobody but idiots want to hardfork in 2 months in a incredibly stupid rushed way. Bitcoin Core 0.15 is going to ignore segwit2x blocks so if miners don't align their views with reality and reject NYA, I can see the price crashing again in 2 months all because corporate fiat whores like Barry Shillbert and Erik Voorhees  think they are smarter than actual engineers making the code. They think because they made a lot of money investing here and there, know how to scale a network.

If these idiots and the equally idiot miners don't listen to the more intelligent coders, the price will crash again in november during an all time high, and you will know who to blame. They will sell it to you as if it's "Core's fault", when they are doing the right thing. The one's blind and technologically incompetent are always the hardforkers.

Yes. Bitcoin Cash is indeed free money for anyone who have held onto their Bitcoins before the fork event. Even though it lacks popularity, and development, it is another option that we could choose for our own benefit such as handling micropayments, and more.

While we may never know what its price will be in a couple of years from now, it will certainly become interesting to know what will its path be in the upcoming months. If Bitcoin continues to grow in wide user acceptance, and support, then Bitcoin Cash may die as it will lack to provide development and mainstream recognition.

But while it lasts, we could take advantage of it, and make some profit to help expand our capital. Thanks to the emergence of the fork, many bitcoiners have been able to make money, in a fast and easy way. This is one of the many good things that Bitcoin Cash has. Only time will tell what lies ahead with its future. Just my opinion :)

While Bitcoin Cash has managed to gain strides in value, and become the third largest cryptocurrency by market cap, I highly doubt that it will be able to overcome the original Bitcoin anytime soon.

Bitcoin has a larger user base, and it is widely recognized among businesses and individuals alike. It also has a professional development team behind it, unlike BCH which lacks real development. Once bugs and issues underlying the BCH software are found, there will be panic among its users as there is no established development team for it.

The majority of the trading volume for BCH comes from the Koreans, thus making the original Bitcoin truly the one which has more trading activity. However, if BCH manages to gather a real development team, and becomes added to big exchanges such as GDAX, and Coinbase, then things will be seen at another perspective.

Since BCH can deliver bigger blocks, it could prove to handle more transaction thoughput than Bitcoin. But, it is always best to preserve decentralization by slowly increasing the block size, in order to ensure that the blockchain data won't increase at a faster rate, limiting the ability for anyone to run a full node. Just my opinion :)

Couldn't agree more with you, mate. If will make a drastic change in the whole cryptocurrency market, as the pioneer cryptocurrency is the "reserve currency" for many of the altcoins we know today.

However, the odds for this to happen are very minimal, as Bitcoin Cash has been lacking a true development team (as far as I'm aware of) and innovation. If it manages to solve some of its issues (like the ones currently being faced as miners switch from one chain to another due to profitability) then it could remain as a solid and stable cryptocurrency.

But if BCH remains as is, then it will have a hard time trying to rise in popularity and value, as the original Bitcoin will emerge stronger than ever.

Agree. If Bitcoin fails with its block size increase solution, then BCH might have an advantage here. It is up to debate, whenever the hard fork to 2mb will be successfully implemented on the main chain by November, as it opens up the possibility of creating another chain split, eventually leaving us with 3 different versions of Bitcoin.

But, if all goes well, then Bitcoin could emerge stronger than ever to be able to increase exponentially in value and user acceptance worldwide. Bitcoin Cash by the way, has been declining in value, probably by its inflation rates as miners are quickly finding blocks because of BCH's current difficulty adjustment. This is a very bad thing for BCH, as it will lead to plummet in value if no proper solution becomes implemented.

In the end, it will only be a matter of time before the market and the people decide which will be the longest chain and the true Bitcoin to stay. Whenever it is Bitcoin with SegWit2x, Bitcoin with SegWit and 1mb block size, or BCH with its 8mb blocks, only one will remain as the most solid cryptocurrency in existence. Just my thoughts ;D

I think that tricky mining adjustment ruined its posibilities because if merchants were angry with bitcoin for the price volatility, in bch you have added the transaction speed varying acording the miners strategy.

But also I am very surpised that it survived after everyone dumping their free coins the first days and starting as a coin not supported neither by consensus miners neither devs, so in cryptoworld you can never be sure.

The problem with bcc, unlike other alts with much smaller mkt caps, is that it has the same number and mined coins/day as bitcoin. So, how high in btc price could it go? what is reasonable? I think .25 is the highest it will ever see. I fail to understand how it could ever be even half the value of the original btc. On the one hand a single whale could own most and pump it, but seriously who would be dumb enough to give 1 real btc for 2 of this altcoin with no dev team and almost no adoption?

Bitcoins are the legends of the coins and no one is going to beat them ever in the race of being best crypto currency and only a dump can prefer bitcoin cash over bitcoins with the hope of getting rich.

Its merely a joke right now since BCC is unsupported or lets just say treated like an altcoins around and I'm not totally impressed on this coin since I don't know if this is lift up by a hype or just a plain joke coin, but whatever surround this coin I think we should just ignore it if we don't like this one or just simply monitor if we want to earn from the hype.

Well, I guess that it will be only a matter of time before the market decides which version of Bitcoin will become the most prominent one in the mainstream world. With two distinct flavors of Bitcoin, I believe that development for the whole Bitcoin protocol will become improved as people can experiment with both BCH and BTC and determine the best and most secure scalable solution.

However, considering that BCH is an altcoin and not the real Bitcoin, it will make become hard for it to overcome the pioneer cryptocurrency's market cap. Given the established branding for Bitcoin, and huge supporters/investors around it, BCH will have a hard time replacing the true original blockchain pioneer currency. Despite everything, now people can choose between lower fees for extremely fast transactions with Bitcoin Cash, or choose higher fees with greater security and reliability over their transactions with the original Bitcoin. It is only a matter of choice, which cryptocurrency people prefer the most in this rapidly evolving society. Just my thoughts ;D

No. I don't think so, because Bitcoin is the solution of digital money. It is the future of currency. Bitcoin Cash will have no different than the money stored in a bank. With their taxes and system, we cannot keep our privacy and security anymore. But by Bitcoin, we can change the future. Although, Bitcoin can be use as a criminal transactions in the digital world. But that's just side effect of the progress of technology.

You do have a point there, mate. Bitcoin will always be the most prominent cryptocurrency on the markets, since it is the original cryptocurrency which brought us the blockchain technology. Without it, many of the cryptocurrencies we know and love today wouldn't have been possible. Considering that BCH is just a fork from the original Bitcoin blockchain, it may never replace it, the same way ETC never replaced the original Ethereum.

Therefore, I believe that in the future both of these cryptocurrencies will co-exist (Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash) providing people with options whenever they want to quickly send a transaction or just secure their investments for the long term. And besides that, I think these altcoins wouldn'tbe created if not because of bitcoin itself so we owe it all to Bitcoin too. I don't find anything special with BCH so I don't think it even has a place in the future, this coin in time will be forgotten and delisted if there will be another more stronger coin than bitcoin (that is if there will ever be a coin created as strong as bitcoin).

As the events showed after August 1, the separated Bitcoin Cash did not gain enough to compete with the original bitcoin. In relation to other altcoyines, his initial course was quite high, but he began to decline steadily and slowly. This coin can not compete with bitcoin, since its course is inflated and maintained artificially. Therefore, a significant part of the holders of this coin dropped it in favor of bitcoin.

BCH can not possibly overcome BTC, there is no evidence that makes BTC users switch to BCH. We know BTC for a long time from year to year, whereas BCH only knows sekrang-now only. Because this cash bitcoin is a bitcoin shard. The possibility to be the same as bitcoin for now is still very difficult. but do not close the possibility of a future if the user of this coin increases and will compete with bitcoin.

The thing that makes Bitcoin Cash distinguish from Bitcoin is the ability to send fast transaction and the chance to host more transactions in one block, or that's what they told.

After 2016 blocks of fast transaction, there will be few days of very slow transaction since the difficulty increased drive the miners switch to mine Bitcoin instead of Bitcoin Cash. Mining Bitcoin Cash will only be more profit than mining Bitcoin after the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment.

Who will benefit from this kind of arrangement? Miners. There's no coincidence that people calling Bitcoin Cash the Miner's Bitcoin.

This makes the Bitcoin Cash a much less reliable comparing to Bitcoin.

So, to the question laid by OP, the answer is no way.

It is possible. But a very little chance of happening. The capability of bitcoin core is far better than that of bitcoin cash. Bitcoin cash needs to reach bitcoin's characteristics before it can overcome bitcoin. Another thing is that bitcoin cash must match its reputation within the community. We all know that bitcoin core is famous and has a good reputation, it is a big challenge to bitcoin cash if it has to overpower its core.

The answer to your question - NO.
Why?
Because Bitcoin Cash took birth in such a situation where miners wanted to switch to a technology which could give everyone a better solution to their needs - FASTER TRANSACTION CONFIRMATIONS & LOWER FEES. BCH supporters thought they would get enough miners to support their project but the fact is that, only 5% of miners switched to it and the remaining stick themselves to Bitcoins because they liked the idea of compressing the transaction size instead of going for bigger blocks. Though, it is remarkable that it's still in the news as well as gaining attraction from investors too. There's a notable thing currently that there may be a trading opportunity in the upcoming week as BCH guys will be holding a conference. But Bitcoins are too good no one can resist having one and BCH still looks not more than a Pump and Dump coin.

Well, I started this topic in the first place because I was afraid that BCH would gain too much traction in price, eventually taking over Bitcoin's place in market cap. But, as time passed by, its growth in value have staled because of miners constantly switching to the BTC chain and viceversa.

Given the fact that there is no real development for BCH (as far as I'm aware of), I believe that it won't be getting anywhere soon. Despite the facts, it would be interesting to see what will happen in the future with both BTC and BCH. ;)

You do have a point there. BCH is just like BTC with the only difference of implementing a bigger block size. At first, I've got confused and thought that having a bigger block size would contribute towards faster transaction speeds, but then I've that in this case it won't have much effect since the block time is relatively the same.

Nevertheless, BCH may remain among the top 3 cryptocurrencies in market cap over the course of time. It will be Bitcoin, the Ethereum, and finally Bitcoin Cash as the third largest cryptocurrency by market cap. :)

Completely true, mate. It is now seen that Bitcoin Cash is just a mere altcoin and will be very unlikely to replace the original pioneer cryptocurrency in the long term. Given that it lacks development and innovation, BCH is just another altcoin from the pack.

People will go towards using the king of cryptocurrencies as a store of value, and eventually as digital cash when it becomes improved over time. Since Bitcoin has an established reputation and branding, there could be virtually no cryptocurrency which could replace it in the long term.

Unless another crypto comes in which addresses all of BTC's underlying issues with greater tech, I see that the pioneer cryptocurrency will remain as king of crypto for many years to come. At first, I've thought that BCH was going to get traction and overcome Bitcoin, but after I've seen its lack of interest among people and development, I've realized that it won't grow much in the market. It is only a matter of time before BCH survives for the long term or not. Just my thoughts ;D

Maybe Bitcoin Cash can overcome the original Bitcoin in terms of user acceptance and scalability. But, in terms of price, it may never overcome the pioneer cryptocurrency since it has a greater market cap than BCH, as well as it continues to grow exponentially in value over the course of time.

While Bitcoin Cash may be far from overcoming Bitcoin Core anytime soon, it may overcome Ethereum in terms of market cap and become the second largest cryptocurrency in the market. One thing for sure is that BCH's fees are cheaper than Bitcoin's and once people realize that, they will make most of their transactions with Bitcoin Cash. Last time, I've made a transaction with BCH and it only cost me $0.01 in fees. Compare that to Bitcoin which costs you around $25 in fees, making it impractical for transferring small amounts of money.

Of course, I'm not a fan of big blocks but given the fact that it reduces costs for fees, i'd say that BCH has quite an advantage over Bitcoin here. On the other hand, there's the Lightning Network and Schnorr Signatures for Bitcoin Core which will greatly enhance the pioneer cryptocurrency's transaction throughput. Just my opinion. :)

Everywhere I have seen too many criticisms against Bitcoin Cash, but apparently investors are not taking these critics so seriously when deciding where to put their money. I have read some opinions that the BCH could displace the bitcoin but I think that will never happen, in fact I see that they can coexist healthily and even complement each other. I do not see why the existence of one is to the detriment of the other.

After the events in may of this year, an event occurred which greatly affected the prices of coins. Some people (who said they'll still do the fork) dream that BCH was higher Bitcoin. Investing huge capital in the BCH. Yes, capitalization of the BCH($ 47 811 365 671) will soon be close to the Ethereum ($72 670 424 851), is a significant figure that should not be forgotten.

I don't think Bitcoin Cash will step at the level of Original Bitcoin. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) was merely looked as an altcoin so it not definitely step the rank of Bitcoin. A lot of miners are mining Bitcoin due to the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of unconfirmed transactions plus the difficulty level will keep on increasing every 2016 blocks.

I think it was too impossible to happen. Ok let's admit it that bitcoin cash has a lot of supporter and a lot of them are miners. You thing that short period of time it can replace bitcoin? Well I think its a big NO. Bitcoin has a good and strong reputation in cryptocurrency , it also consider as the main coin in the community. It also comes first, and the price of it was to high that makes him more powerful. So its hard for a coin to surpass bitcoin.

it won't happen because there's only one bitcoin and no one else will destroy the original king If there's a clone of bitcoin or hardwork avoid it for long term bitcoin is a good long term investment at this moment so hold bitcoin.

That will probably not gonna happen , i think that there is no other altcoins can overcome what is bitcoin gained in the industry of cryptocuurency. Bitcoincash is just one of the bitcoins version , it cannot reach what bitcoin reach . Bitcoincash is also a good inveatments for a long term profits just like bitcoin and other altcoins like etherium.

Agree with major people's comment in this forum that bitcoin cash cannot overcome bitcoin. Just want to say that bitcoin growth and potential is no where compared to any altcoins now or in future. Bitcoin cash can overcome Ethereum or any such potential altcoins but cannot even touch the 50% mark of original bitcoin.

yes it is possible for bitcoincash to overcome and dethrone bitcoin sooner or later because bitcoincash is indeed a good coin with a lot of potential to succeed in the near future due to the fact that is pack by a lot of features and usage like larger block size and lightning networks that is why bitcoincash is much faster than bitcoin or any other coins out there. bitcoincash has also supported by most of the miners and it is also backed by developers and investor, hodlers , traders. these is few of the reasons on why bitcoincash is a one of kind coin.

It seems to me that this will never happen. BCC is a speculative coin. Its price is regulated by the market makers and the founder so they can dump&pump it at any time if they need. I hope I'm wrong...

Well bitcoin cash are running so good now in the market.
A lot of miners are supporting bitcoin cash.
And many time that BCC become the reason why bitcoin price fall down.
But even after all of that reason,
I dont think it is enough that bitcoin cash will replace bitcoin in the future.
It will be hard to the BCC to make it.

Bitcoin Cash may be a great coin and its among the top ruling coin in the world of crypto but I doubt if it will overcome Bitcoin or else been triggered, even though, it is fast raising since its release on 1st August , 2017. The things that may trigger BCH to over BTC is if bitcoin did not caution it high trancaction fee, no peer to peer transaction and less worldwide usage; bitcoin fails in these, then it might happen.

Maybe as I seen the progress of BCH it gradually pump everytime at become popular in just months. But this does not conclude that it will surpass bitcoin because bitcoin is the most popular crypto and the supreme of all altcoins.

Surpassing bitcoin seems to be very impossible to any altcoins in the crypto because of bitcoin's dominance in all aspects in terms of market cap and market price. The demand is always high for this coin and that's what always dictates its market value. So as long as bitcoin is around, no altcoin can overcome it.

Explain to me please, why is it still considered that Bitcoin cash has more superiority than in Bitcoin? I just can not understand how and by what criteria users of crypto currency determine What is better Bitcoin or Bitcoin cache?
Bitcoin cash is no better, some people make that argument because the transaction fee seems to be lower in bitcoin cash, but we know that coin is being manipulated and the miners are jumping between bitcoin and bitcoin cash just to make money, so the community does not trust that project.

It is highly unlikely that bitcoin cash will overcome the original version but you never know how things will go in the future but i am expecting that bitcoin will hold its ground and strive for a better future and i am eagerly waiting to see what will happen this coming week.
I agree with you if to compete may not, maybe follow the karna bitcoin coin is the most superior value.

Long term it will be good to have both and see what happens... some problems which bitcoin has can bitcoin cash solve.

Yes, BTC transfer fee is too high, and takes too long for confirmation, while BCH has a faster confirmation rate... I think BCH had the potential to be better than BTC... But that will take a long long time for sure... Let's see what happens at the end of 2018 shall we ~

You do have a point there, mate. Considering that Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency with a lot of supporters behind it, it will be very difficult for Bitcoin Cash to surpass the pioneer cryptocurrency. Bitcoin has an established branding and dominance in the market. It will take BCH a lot of effort to reach the point where Bitcoin is right now.

Of course, BCH has temporarily solved the high cost of fees, but given its current block size, its blockchain will increase at a much faster rate than Bitcoin's, making it much more centralized than the former. Given the fact that Bitcoin is very valuable and has the most market share, it will be quite difficult for BCH or any other altcoin to surpass it.

One that is close to overcoming Bitcoin in terms of market cap is Ripple. While this one is a centralized payments solution, it has certainly gained traction among the cryptocurrency market making it closer to reaching Bitcoin's market cap. If the XRP continues to rise in value at a faster rate than Bitcoin, then there could exist a possibility of it overcoming Bitcoin as the biggest cryptocurrency in market cap.

Despite all that, both BTC and BCH could complement each other by serving as a store of value and digital money for sending payments at a cheap price to anyone in the world. If BCH adopts Graphene Blocks, then it will have a tremendous performance in processing transactions than Bitcoin. Only time will tell whenever BCH will survive or fail in the end. What really matters is that Bitcoin is here to stay for the long term. Just my thoughts ;D
