People always said that ETH will be the next Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin is having major updates, will ETH will launch into the moon, soon?

People continue to confuse what ETH is. It's not a competitor to Bitcoin.

ETH is a currency that represents processing power over the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum provides access to a blockchain for any sort of project one can think of (which is not possible on Bitcoin's blockchain). Ethereum is bringing the blockchain to businesses, governments, charities, start-ups, and fools who want to start ICOs (with no reason or purpose).

ETH will launch, but for a much different reason that Bitcoin.

I prefer BTC to stay BTC and other coins like ETH to be what they will be. Each is different with different uses.

both are incredible, bitcoin is a kings of the cryptocurrency. so that for me bitcoin is a all time 1st choose but ETH raising way is very bright .in future ETH taken more strong postion in crypto market.

Well, i'm not sure ETH can be the next bitcoin. As you can see, the price of Ethereum is really fall since the last 2-3 days, most of all altcoins are going down though. But only bitcoin that still had a good price so far. I don't know what will happen after segwit done, but i think it will become a big history for cryptocurrencies.

Actually yes there are chance to ethereum will be the next bitcoins, in my opinions for right now bitcoins hold bitcoins is good choice before bitcoin's hard fork because we will get bitcoins and bitcoins cash, but if you hold in ethereum for invest in ICOs, today is best time for buy ethereum because ethereum's price is cheap be compared couples months ago, so everything depend on the purpose to hold bitcoins or ethereum.

Bitcoin is Bitcoin it cannot be compared period. Now Eth is not Bitcoin, but it's a dam alt and alts are only promising for a while but then they are not that good. Eth has for the time being given some good returns but I don't prefer it cause it's a Alt, and for that reason I don't ever invest in it, I hate alts, cause seen lots of people invest and loose their hard earned money in it. So my suggestion is to move in for Bitcoin and not eth.

Doesn't make sense as to why ETH would moon when Bitcoin is getting an upgrade. Unless something goes wrong with the update there should be no reason for Ethereum to be taking a pump from the fork. You can even compare the two currencies, Bitcoin is up ~1.5% vs its 24hr average while ETH has slipped by ~9.3%. A lot has to go wrong for Bitcoin to collapse under the weight of a fork and have a competing crypto take off in its place.

Anyways I prefer Bitcoin for a number of reasons I have already talked about a lot of other times, and Ethereum has its own uses too. It's a shame that it doesn't have the same user size but whatever I guess, that's how it works sometimes. Could have a lot going for it under the right circumstances.

Bitcoin up and is now eth go down so I prefer bitcoin, bitcoin is still far above altcoin to mention eth will be next bitcoin then it's a bit excessive but nobody knows the future

Personally I prefer ETH rather than Bitcoin because ETH is using a very good platform and creating a lot of high potential altocin, especially ICO projects, if ETH can beat BTC in the future, The new revolution will take place

That possible if some investor and Bitcoin user( that afraid in August 1 soft fork) move their funds to the Ethereum.

in the past 2 months bitcoin has had a huge FUD wave about its split which was a big lie from the start. it only caused a 27% drop in its price and that could not even last for more than 20 hours and price jumped back up!!!
there was another FUD again that caused another dip, but this time small and that didn't last long either.
price is now back at the ATH level.

in the past 2 months while that was going on, ethereum started at 0.15BTC and has been constantly dropping down. it is getting dumped in steps. first it went down 15% in one day then stopped and recovered a small amount and then got dumped more. the dumping has been going on until today down to 0.068BTC which is more than 55% drop. in other words ethereum has lost more than half its value from top.

now you compare these two and tell me what you prefer....

If i like Eth, but it's not possible Eth will be the next bitcoin, because Btc and Eth have many differences, Btc already has experience high enough than eth, and Eth has its own function and not the competitor of Btc ,,

I still prefer bitcoin over any other alternate coins but I also like Ethereum too. But between the two, I'd have to go with Bitcoin because it is the mother of all cryptocurrencies and the fact that it is because of bitcoin why other altcoins are created they all should be grateful why bitcoin was created. It has gone through many fuds and fluctuations over the past years but it still keeps on rising ever year.

Even if people said that ETH will be the next bitcoin, it won't and I still prefer bitcoin more than it. Also, eth won't launch into the moon, after all those ICO's who have gathered some large amounts of ETH will soon begin to dump just to have a budget of their own. Also, the last eth pump IMO is manipulated and is very hyped. With this major update of bitcoin, it might make the eth hype go away.

While they may both be too big to fail, I prefer bitcoin. Ethereum has issues and contenders nipping at it's heels that pose more of a threat to it's valuation than BTC> BTCs footing is so good that were it to lose market share, it could happen in a much more predictable manner than we see with the ALTs. My opinion of course.

Eth is a coin/token and Ethereum is a platform, Bitcoin is a coin/token and Rootstock as a platform for Bitcoin which will be a norm for ICO's soon.
Any altcoins can be the next Eth but no altcoins can be Bitcoin.
Ark is already better than Eth, it is a matter of time before the mass know about it, no clogging or bloat.

I agree that they are not competitors, because they have different functions. Btc is e-gold, it is the main and the first crypto ever. Of course it is not perfect, but many people know only btc. Eth is the first platform for smart contracts, but it doesn't work well enough. There are Some new projects doing the same but better, but they are too young so eth is still leading. And what is the best for eth, that it is growing very fast and work with a lot of big companies like banks and some corporations making their blockchains on eth system. So they are all awesome and i hope will grow exponentially, but now i don't have eth from the time it was 350$)

I will go foe btc, i know the capability of btc  grow sooner & i believe its potential will go up to the moon. Lets see & watch what will happen after segwit. :)

if you think logically there is nothing in btc ,just because its primary cryptocurrency its price is increasing,if you compare eth and btc,eth wins in code functionality and its application.there is byteball currency which has conditional transaction as well,just because people are buying btc at op price so market is pumping.

Correct for the fools who want to start ICOs,,, but let us not give too much credit to Ethereum. They look like the attractive option to get "on the blockchain". This is just marketing. People have access to blockchain before Ethereum.

I think it's hard to eth to match the bitcoin. Very difficult and it is not easy. Even if I can sense eth in the 5-year period is not enough.

I would invest in both because both have great future potential to grow in terms of its price and demand . So for future investment and good returns I would invest in both of this coins .

We don't have to choose one of them, they are totally different, but I choose ethereum for some reasons. Ethereum has more potential than bitcoin in the long run, bitcoin is old anymore.

Lol bitcoin is the mother coins and you can't even say it an old coin because you can't buy ETH if you have bitcoin. For me both of them are probably nice to invest in a long run since ETHEREUM have been dump now so it's nice to invedt and buy more ETH for a longterm based.

Bitcoin has no competitors not even zcash talk more of ethereum which price has dropped drastically this month. I will rather stay with bitcoin because of it inherent value as a gold standard to others cryptocurrency! Bitcoin has face slot of updates in the past and this will not make any difference.

ETH might not go to the moon even with btc having a major update, because bitcoin and ETH are completely different coins to each other, so I think btc's update won't affect eth pirce greatly. Also, I would still prefer btc over eth now, since btc has a lot more potential than eth, who is made only for smart contracts, not for micropayments. Still it is good to invest in both, because both have a potential to grow in the future.

I think you should invest in Both BTC and ETH. This diversification will help you decrease the risk of market as well as increase your potential gains in future. BTC is the most popular crypto out there but ETH is the one hosting almost all upcoming ICOs.

I generally prefer Bitcoin and Waves to Ethereum.
Ethereum feels unsafe for me, all from the beginning. I didn't even like thing called "gas system".

The price of bitcoin is the one that is going to fly up to the moon so this is all about bitcoin.

I think both of them are good for investment and they are widely accepted as the main crytocurrencies since they are the top2 market cap. So my suggestion is holding both BTC and ETH.

i prefer BTC there are many factors why i prefer BTC, but both will always i use because BTC and ETH can be said to be the guideline for many token altcoins etc.

I'm a believer of eth but bitcoin is bitcoin and nothing can change that. So when you have to choose, choose bitcoin.
It's more valuable than eth, more stable and more trusted. Also good for long term investment.

In february Ethereum was , approximately , 13$ and in this months it has arrived at 500$ , inclusive , so Ethereum had a massive increase and it's worth investing in it ,but Bitcoin worth too and it had a massive decrease these days , but that bifurcation it's not gonna happen so i think the price will increase soon . I think it's a good idea to invest in both.

for now, I think everyone prefers to bitcoin than eth, look at the price of ETH are getting down. Anyone who holds a bitcoin will get BCC for free. so it's certainly a better hold bitcoin for now.

Yes also I prefer Bitcoin,for me because bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency in the whole world.Thesre bitcoins are increasing and becoming known in the world of money and cryptocurrency.ETH is other kind of cryptocurrency which has smaller amount than bitcoin.

I would like to use Bitcoin because so many people are still using Bitcoin but if in the future, ETH is used worldwide like Bitcoin now, I think I will use ETH like everybody else.

I would always choose BTC over ETH. Some say ETH will surpass BTC in the future but I doubt it. They are in different path after all. They have their own advantages and disadvantages. When it comes to the pump and dump of price then they are somehow correlated.

You should read more about it because if you're not a pure investor, those coins really have nothing in common otherwise.

I prefer bitcoin even if eth is gaining popularity now because bitcoin is still the number one coin for me though there are some issues that is still going on right now about the hard fork.

BTC is the strongest currency, so I like it very much, however, if you compare BTC and ETH, I think ETH is more potential, using ETH is easier than BTC. My favorite is the opposite of reality, it is hard for me to choose.

ETH is gaining popularity just because of the issues Bitcoins currently having.. like slow transaction, higher fees, etc

once segwit gets activated, then i think it will be difficult for ETH to stay stable with current price

I still choose Bitcoin over Ethereum because BTC has been in the cryptoworld for almost a decade now and look at its progress within that span of time. Who would've thought it will reach this far and with the amount it cost right? So I would choose bitcoin above everything else in the cryptoworld no doubt about that and don't care if bitcoin is splitting or making corrections.

Also ETH have a Scalability problems which probably could solve POS.
But PoS as a method is not secure and we had a security issue before with ETH.

If bitcoin die for sure the next bitcoin will be ethereum . But I dont think this year will happen or in the next few years. Even bitcoin have proble because they have possible price of this coin will decrease in august 1 I like still bitcoin because i bekieve it will rwcover again once it will decrease. For sure in date of august 1 the ethereum coin will increase because investor invest to the coin have big potential.

I would still choose bitcoin, because i guess it has been more promising to me and i can say also to others and now that bitcoin is a working progress digital crypto currency and more and more of people are recognizing it, using it and trusting the service of it there is no doubt that people will choose it more that eth. Eth is yes a form of alt. Both involves risks, but eth comes with more. Bitcoin is more beneficial than eth. In my opinion people should invest in bitcoin that eth.

Allow me to answer the original question and pardon me if I did cut the flow of correspondence... I currently prefer ETH over BTC, not because I don't believe in BTC.. but because of two things:

1. BTC is undergoing a hard fork pretty soon and I dunno how this will affect it in the long term.
2. ETH has dipped so much due to a lot of factors (possibly including the BTC and BCC news)

Once things settle down on the Segwit2x issue and BTC blockchain is proven to be stable, then perhaps, I'd start converting some of my few ETHs into BTC, or buy myself some more satoshis.

I think you are right, now bitcoin is rising because people want to get a split from bitcoin, but after that maybe bitcoin price will go down and they will move to eth, because eth price at this time can be said cheap after experiencing high enough decrease.

I prefer bitcoin to ethereum if I am giving a choice to make between the two. Bitcoin is like central banks to ethereum and others coins or altcoin including the present bitcoin split group called Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin is even at the infancy stage time is coming that bitcoin will be above $50,000.

Not worried about the major update of bitcoin, although the issue says the price is going down, but I'm sure it will recover. Both are very good, i hold btc and eth because both are very potential.

Not really, I think ETH has to go through a lot of time to actually go to the moon just as bitcoin is already 8 years old and even it through a really mature process to get a lot of interest of the community or investors from some countries to jack up the price

I prefer both. Both are good crypto currencies but Ethereum drops more than btc from its high in the recent time. But in the present scenario I would prefer to buy Ethereum as btc is very costly now to buy I will wait for Btc to drop so that I can buy more Btc & I am damn sure in the coming days Bitcoin will rise.

Whenever media is talking about cryptocurrency, they are talking about bitcoin. I am certain that most of the people never heard about ethereum, thats why new investors will probably invest in BTC and the value will grow faster than ETH.

This is a very difficult comparison to make.  Both definitely have a rather unique value proposition.  BTC is the oldest and most well known crypto, and ETH will be very interesting once it switches to POS.

Right now we have only one coin to exchange our fiat currency in all over the globe it is Bitcoin. Still, we did not have any exchanges for ETH. I don't know in any country people have this facility or not, but in my country, we don't have this option. If we have any coin, we must convert it into Bitcoin to get fiat currency. So I also prefer Bitcoin.

In my opinion, we need waiting the time prove Ethereum can pass Bitcoin or not. About the ratio growth from 2016 until highest price in 2017, we know Ethereum better than Bitcoin and very interesting when have some news talking about in last year 2017 or 2018 they will change their system to PoS.

it's hard to say which is which but ETH has a strong background and BTC is much powerful now because of the upgrade done right now.

I prefer Bitcoin as main coin although ETH has a strable turnup and is accepted by more and more companies. But it will take years, if so, to overtake Bitcoin. And for speculation the value is already to high.

Oranges and apples...bitcoin is a crypto coin while ethereum is a smart contract platform. Another thing will be when rootstock will implement smart contracts in btc blockchain, when this will happen you can ask this question :)

BTC is on top and ETH is on second number. No doubt BTC is king of Cryptocurrency and ETH is also one of the great coin from all altcoin. So we can not say that any one not good. Both are good one so it's all up to you which one you prefer.

Your right man the king is the king, no one can steal their position on top. Why? Because bitcoin can handle any problem they encounter also, bitcoin were earned a lot trust from the users. In addition, this coin was continue increase their price in the market. Moreover, I was hoping that bitcoin followers were increase more in the future.

Why not hold Both because both of them are promising and it's not hurt you if you hold them yet gives you profit by holding them. As BTC and ETH getting stronger now, no doubt their prices are slightly increased than before. Just hold them and enjoy the profit.

Bitcoin is always a better investment because of its price and potential to grow. ETH is also a good investment as the price starts increasing but i still go with bitcoin. And after 1 August bitcoin price will increases and may be it will go past $3000. So hope for the best and invest in BTC.

That is one of the reasons why i make ETH as an option in investing. At a fairly cheap ETH price right now is why i'm interested in investing in ETH. In hopes of gaining more profit.

I prefer bitcoin or btc cause bitcoin is much more popular although ether is known also but the lead runners for cryptocurrency crown is bitcoin and ether so both have serious backing and its still early and there are so many ways to earn money.

If you say Ethereum in current still cheap, not skip other altcoin have potential can better than as Waves, GameCredit, Litecoin or Monero, they are still very cheap and stand still this price in long time, not as Ethereum has pumped to highest price and falldown to base again.

I prefer BTC over ETH of course. But I am also trusting ETH to be flying. But nobody can fly the way BTC does. Major updates are not reasons for crumbling down. Updates on the other hand are reasons for progress. BTC can never be replaced. ETH will become more expensive, so does BTC.

I agree that both crypto-currency are capable on and suitable for investment because both are capable to grow and develop in terms of their price , value and mode of transaction. So it doesn't matter wether you will choose Bitcoin or ethereum the point is how you will going to manage it and if you will going to take time to extend effort for it. Because in order to succeed you need to invest not just money but of course time and effort.

I prefer bitcoin. Not just it tops the market but it is the most reliable coin. And I think more success will follow in this coin. And right now I can't really move on in its pump. Imagine it broke the $3000 mark. And I think this is what it takes for a coin to be preferred as the best coin or the better coin. ETH is actually an amazing concept in itself. The first time I stumbled upon their site, I was shocked that anyone could make their own token just by following some simple instructions. The fact it is owned/developed by Microsoft is also a huge factor. Obviously they are a legitimate company, whereas you cannot trust most crypto businesses these days.

Bitcoin on the other hand is still king. It is the #1 cryptocurrency, period. It will continue to be for the foreseeable future, too. But don't be surprised in Ethereum catches up down the road. They are looking great and lots of businesses rely on them already.

Though eth is doing good in the market lately, i would still go for btc due to the fact that it has been proven to be established and has been around for a while. Despite the difficulties btc had gone thru lately, still it survived. Eth, on the other hand, will soon Get to where btc right now but it still have to go thru a long way. Surely though, it will get there.

Bitcoin is what I'm always preferring. ETH is still an alt coin no matter what people says that it is the next bitcoin. Prove it first before I'm going to shift in ETH as my main crypto. I'll rely ETH if that time comes but for now I have to get along with bitcoin. The price is increasing no way to stop this for now and potentially can go up to $4k.

In a time where BTC and BCH things were in thread , we should not forget that still ETH is next to BTC or vice versa , crypto users must have them both since they are in need in investing and in making more transactions. I prefer having both in different usage. Depending which of the two is most appropriate.

Yes absolutely I believe ETH will bd the next Bitcoin.ETH future is so bright.After next 3-4years ETH turn into 4000$-5000$ I think.I hold 10ETH for my future life.

I have never had any faith in Ethereum. Most of the devs seems to be shady characters, including Vitalik Buterin. And see how the prices have fallen during the past few weeks. In Bitcoin terms, the value of ETH has crashed by 50%.

I prefer to have 50-50 of my investments on BTC and ETH, since the potential growth is stable and recovery during crash is pretty good actually. The support for both coins will guarantee profits for short and long term investments.

For now BITCOIN is still my mainstay, and for now also In the market bitcoin still stable.
But did not rule out ETH soar in the market,

I still prefer to have BTC, We can not deny that the ETH have a  potential  is so great that we should have it too for investment porpuses. maybe we can see both price of ETH and BTC increase for more years so we cannot ignore any one of them.

Well, Bitcoin will remain bitcion and ETH will also remain ETH, since bitcoin was the highest pick now, could not be possible what you are talking about and besides the cryptos was different from each other so it was confusing if that would happen soon. I don't know what was the complaints of others. However, I don't want to unbiased both of them, because I love them both since they are both profitable and valuable.

Well, both have many similarities but differ on its value. yah i agree that eth can surpass bitcoin someday but still bitcoin have more developments and can inscrease its value to the highest level. ETH platforms have potential in market and it is the best when it comes to investments. Bitcoin can have around 3000$-4000$ value after 2 years so bitcoin is still the best.

I would prefer both of them and would like to invest in both Bitcoin and ethereum. Both of them are very promising projects and both can help me earn great profits in the long run. Both the projects have the largest and the fastest growing market capitals so i will prefer both of them.

So ethereum surpassing Bitcoin is quite unlike to happened because most of altcoin out to the market based on the price if Bitcoin meaning that Bitcoin serve as a universal currecny through the web which is mostly know as crypto-currency. And being a part of a great currecny and having the price of other altcoin it can be a proof that bitcoin will stay at it is and may also developed for the better.

I prefer eth because it gives opportunity to invest in very nice projects. Smart contract is just awesome, the best thing that happened in crypto. So may coins have been created on its blockchain, without the cryptospace wouldn't be so interesting.

Ethereum is good, but I don't think that it's a threat to BTC. As you can see, bitcoin had already made it's name in crypto currency. And as years pass by, it keeps on growing, investors keep coming and more and more users are getting interested on bitcoin. There may be a lot of alt coin popping out each month, but it's really unrealistic to have BTC replaced with a new altcoin.

Ofcourse im always on the side of bitcoin, because bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency ever and with tons of backer and investors behind it. So it has more potential than Ethereum. There are many evidences proving ethereum is not a good coin. Ethereum has been hacked many times and recently, it was hacked and 3 ICOs projects have lost their money cause of hackers. They get into the ethereum system and steal all of the fund. poor for them. MAybe in the future, ethereum will know how to upgrade their security system and make more people feel safe. But right now, ethereum is not good at all  

Well, for me Bitcoin and Ethereum are the part of the road apply technology blockchain to outside. Bitcoin is Blockchain 1.0 the beginning "era cryptocurrency" and Ethereum is Blockchain 2.0 with smart contract for safe transactions.

I prefer BTC over ETH just because for me BTC is more reliable and flexible, and it's really hard to compare the two given that they have differences and BTC can do things ETH can't do and vice versa. Eventhough btc is hard to earn, the income is sure based on rate while on eth there is the possibility of losing income due to scams, unsuccessful campaigns and other stuff because their rate is based on the income of the campaign, but once the campaign become successful, the income is surely high like you hit the jackpot. It is tremendously high, from the drop last july then after the sigwit it increases doubled the price how was that? Eth can never do that today, maybe in the future but not today. i would go with BTC as it is a stable and settled digital cryptocurrency that has a decentralised nature . It has many advantages like the transaction fees is very low as compared to other methods worldwide , it cannot be stolen like  any other physical currency can , no one can see our transaction and know our balance , no third party like banks and all can see our transactions , no one can freeze bitcoins ,they are user friendly .
while ethereum is still a developing project , i would use them only for investment , it has the potential to rise , it is said to be the next after BTC.

Many eth users are selling their coins for bitcoin to make them easier to make a profit. Because bitcoin is more easily fluctuate in price ..

For me I prefer BTC, because the BTC is the most pobular Crypto Currency. And the mostley people in the word know und trust BTC.

I prefer to buy and use mainly bitcoin. Ethereum is also a great coin, but I mostly like using it as an altcoin, and investment tool, but not as my main currency.

I would suggest you experiment with a bit of both. Both are great for investment and have its ups and downs. At the end of the day it all comes down to what you want to use it for.

I don't really agree to that coz BTC is very stabilized now & going strong day by day. It goes up from 2k USD to 3k then now 4k, I believed and I hope it will reach 5k USD end of this year.

But eth has its own function, and to use eth we also need to use btc to sell to our currency.

To the look of relationship between  bitcoin an ethereum, bitcoin is  a single coin that is looked at as the lead of the crypto currency world,  ur to its high market cap.  But ethereum is a coin with a plan of taking hold of its own environment not looking to compete with bitcoin interns of ranking and position.

From trading volume they deserve to be compared, but in terms of business elaboration, eth is focused on smart contracts while bitcoin only focus on currency exchange, bitcoin is still king, and ethereum is still destined to be the number two, I still prefer bitcoin.

Eth will become the next bitcoin if this coin always has the significant moving price and higher volume. But every coin has the same chance but depend their supply and demand. Today eth has the low price but volume still stable, that's become a good indicator for me to buy this coin. Not only Ethereum, most altcoin on market are for short term, this is reason BTC pair always have more than altcoin pair on market. Because we are trader find the way how to increase our balance Bitcoin.

Well for me there is a chance that other coins including ethereum will overtake the lead of the bitcoin someday, just like what happen to the social media site called friendster it is being overtake by facebook and other platform of social media sites.

If you look at coinmarketcap, Bitcoin is still dominating in the 45%+ over the market. Ethereum momentarily took that away from bitcoin at its inception but other than that bitcoin is the go-to. It's the most stable out of all the currencies and basically is the standard for what other currencies trade into and out of. That means that it's the closest to fiat currency, which is incredibly stable, which makes it stronger. I don't think ETH will ever replace BTC, although the transactions are pretty quick so sometimes I use it for that. But usually I don't really care and pick Bitcoin over Ethereum.

It seems to me that both these coins is dominant in the market and the Ethereum increasingly consolidating their positions. They do not dominate each other and develop in parallel.

I prefer ETH because ETH as a smart contract and has its own blockchain will become bigger than Bitcoin in the future. This can be seen from many projects with new ideas using ETH platform that will increase the demand. Vitalik Buterin as the founder of ETH is also very genius to develop its platform to be more useful and more interested in the world crypto community.

BTC is the most stable of all cryptos and the one that started everything out there. ETH is the new good player that has joined the team and in time it will become as stable as BTC. It all has to do with time. After surviving that long, BTC is an established currency globally. That will happen to ETH too and possibly to other cryptos that are already here or those to come. It is just like fiat currencies dollars, euros, yen etc. that took them some time to get recognized and accepted from everyone. Especially, dollars domination started only after WW2. In currencies applies what can't kill you, makes you stronger. That's why BTC after China's bans lost its value only momentarily and now it is again on high prices. Always look in history to see what comes in the future.

What's the difference big or small budget? All people start with a small amount. I trust bitcoin so I keep all my money in bitcoin but occasionally I buy ETH in order to capitalize on the speculation and back to bitcoin.

I will prefer to go with EHT becaue Ethereum is not just a currency. It’s a Blockchain platform powered by the Ether cryptocurrency. I prefer BITCOIN more than any altcoin and its simply because of the fact that Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and it is more popular than any altcoin. Bitcoin is way more stable than ethereum and chances of growth are higher for Bitcoin than ethereum.

As I see so far, the stability of price of bitcoin is because the market capital bitcoin have and the 24h volume of trading, none of whales can manipulate and could only hardly spread fud to change people opinion so yes bitcoin is more stable, but for trading activities, stability is not that good.
talking about the chance of growth, i think that ethereum has more potential than bitcoin, theres so many ico using ethereum smartcontract, will make ethereum forcefully evolving, but we will see after hardfork for both bitcoin and ethereum and decide which one will be the best.

Bitcoin is a store of value, with a fixed mechanism. The concept of blockchain was invented for Bitcoin. Yes, many people found other uses of the blockchain tech, but its original purpose was to run the Bitcoin network.

Ethereum on the other hand is a programmable blockchain. The pitfalls of a programmable blockchain are so humungous, that its almost certain that the system will be hacked at some point in the future. A hack will not kill Eth, but it would make some serious dents.

I am not claiming that Bitcoin is un-hackable. But the chances of Bitcoin getting hacked are miniscule vs Eth. Wearing the investor's hat, I'd put my money in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is good to make payments. ETH is good to invest and make some ICO. These are a different coins and I like them both.

I prefer bitcoin. It as already proven so much and look at its price right now. But I have nothing against ETH, it has a great potential too but I'm more confident investing with bitcoin. In can easily profit my savings for a week and it is easily convertible into fiat. It doesn't need to pass an exchange to convert it. That is why I like bitcoin more and I am eager to earn it.

I don't understand people who prefer bitcoin only because he is the first one. It's like someone would say he loves the oldest first car made and would love to use it instead of let say new lamborghini. I'm not saying that bitcoin is like an old car nor ethereum is the future, but people should start looking at coins based on their technology. And unfortunatelly, no matter how much more I prefer bitcoin to other coins, for me it's unusable in terms of transactions. I don't fancy paying even 15 dollar fee only to send couple of dollars to other address. For now, I use ethereum for that quick and cheap payments. There may be people that use it for the smart contracts features, but for me it's just easier to send money with it.

It depends on what you are seeking. If you are looking for a safer investment i'd take bitcoin over anything. I don't see any better coin than bitcoin when it comes to safe long term investment.

If I have to choose between Etherium and Bitcoin on where to invest my money, I would prefer investing to Etherium. Indeed, the market value of Bitcoin is whay high compared to Etherium but the rate on the increase of the market value of Etherium is faster since it is more often used in ICOs compared to Bitcoin which highly affects its demand. It's market value is increasing as well as the profit from the investment of the investors to ETH.

I'll keep my loyalty to bitcoins. Ethereum is a good investment because it's whitepaper tells us how useful it is for creating a token representing an asset, however, I don't like it when the government interferes with a cryptocurrency - in Ethereum's case, I am not comfortable with Vitalik discussing many things with Vlad, that's why I choose bitcoins over anything else.

I prefer Etherium for short term investments and Bitcoin for long term investments. Both are considered to be good as an investment or asset because the profit are huge from investing into each of it. I prefer Bitcoin more because of its much larger market value compared to ETH since its market price increases and as it increase, the profit also increases.

I prefer BTC on ETH because bitcoin is base currency in crypto market and first choice for every investor if he want to enter crypto market. ETH is second preference but it also have in your portfolio due to many ICO issue ERC20 tokens and it require payment mode as ETH.

They are both excellent to get and will continue to grow but I prefer ethereum and expect it to grow considerably in value in the future. Right now it is speculative but as the ICO smartcontract projects get completed it will become more valuable because ethereum is the power that drives the whole blockchain and demand will increase.

I still prefer Bitcoin investment over Ethereum. But I don't really have to choose between the two. I am always making sure that I am holding some ETH as well as BTC at the same time. BTC and ETH are too different to be compared imho.

They have different functions from one another: one is a store of value while the other one is a platform for creating tokens. So comparing them in general is pointless. If you perhaps meant to compare them in terms of scalability or profit investment-wise, you could easily pick btc on the former and latter.

Why not have both? I don't really see them as competitors because I think both bring different things to the table, and are both good options right now. Bitcoin for me, is the best option for store of value and for payments (at least as soon as the Lightning Network gets operational). So for me bitcoin is more related to a currency and to investments. Ethereum looks like a great option to support other investments and other companies through the form of ICOs. Apparently they seem to be giving an important step towards the financial market as well with K-Snark, and Zero Knowledge proofs being implemented on the network and enabling both anonymity and immutability, that is crucial for the trading business.

This two currencies are my the most favourite ones. I don't believe that the ethereum's price can reach to bitcoin's in the near future, but I think it is clear that, ethereum is also a good currency which have proved itself.

In my own opinion I will go for BTC because it is proven and tested over time. BTC is accepted worldwide as mode of payments which I can't find it on ETH. Just like on our local exchange it does not accept ETH only BTC to convert into fiat or vise versa. ETH needs more time and updates to be able to compete with BTC. Few years ago BTC has already been caught the attention of the people arround the world than ETH. These two coins has different platforms with its I think different purposes too. If BTC's price goes down on lowest dip like $10 per coin then the possible thing to happen with altcoin is; It may still survive but price is lower than $1 or some of altcoins may die. But to be fair with ETH, I believe that ETH has potential like BTC too  and will soon reach the surface of the moon. Anyways, ETH has unique platform so I know that crypto community has always there to support ETH and I am actually one of them.

Different platform means different uses characteristics. I too, would prefer to use Bitcoin than Etherium though Etherium is widely and commonly used in some of the campaigns here. On top of that, Bitcoin is tested and is already stable which seems to stay for decades to come.

i would still prefer bitcoins over etherium because bitcoin is the first and the father of all cryptocurrencies and also has the highest value of them all , also  bitcoin has got many features and uses compared to etherium like it can be use to buy or sell stuff anonymously online/offline  and most county today are legalizing it because they believe that it can make a country innovative due to its high tech properties.

Of course BTC, as this is the first one I've ever known in digital cryptocurrency and it has already build its foundation and has gained a lot of attention from which it is said to be the most successful one in the digital cryptocurrency world. Bitcoin is in a great bullrun now, so I went long on bitcoin at bitmex yesterday. ETH is very cheap right now i think and hence I am adding it every passing day in my portfolio.

Because i think both coin are good. and it's totally depend on their individual cryptocurrency platform. 

Both of this bitcoin and ethereum are definitely potential, we are all knows that those coins are the crypto currency in digital world. Therefore I prefer both of this because I know that this bitcoin and ethereum are capacity to run for long time in bitcoin society. So if you invest on both coins I think you will never regret on that, due to good fluctuation of this crypto in digital market.

Bitcoin and Ethereum  were created for different purposes. Bitcoin was created to be a means of transaction payment, to store value payment and to regulate fiat currency while Ether was developed as a platform for  smart contract application .The two digital currencies were not meant to compete with each other so both have their different  values. Among all digital currency,  I will  always go for the one that has the highest value which is BTC for now.

Whichever - as long as I earn money with this coins, I'll definitely hold them. But, with the trend that we have right now (just now) - it is better to hold ETH since this is the second highest when it comes to value and ETH is easy to use. Well, we will never know- we do have different opinions regarding this but one thing is for sure if we support cryptocurrency for sure this will still work in the future (decades and so forth).

ETH is different when we compare it to the Bitcoin. ETH is a currncy mainly with processng power and created for busniesses. Bitcoin is something like value storage at the moment. I prefer more Etherum project but i know that most of us prefer or just as I predict bitcoin growth, So i would pick Bitcoin if i would think about benefits.

BTC and ETH are both digital currencies but difference in uses, the primary purpose of ETH is not to establish itself as a payment alternative (unlike Bitcoin) but to facilitate and monetize the working of Ethereum to enable developers to build and run distributed applications.

No BitcoinCash, LiteCoin, BitcoinGold or Monero will be able to win against Bitcoin because all those coins have is an outperformance of bitcoin in terms of times and costs of transactions, privacy, etc. Ethereum will offer this + an actual use + its reputation is already cemented as the #1 altcoin in terms of reputation. Oh and it also helps that its creator happens to be a person in flesh and bones.

I think both are good and a diverse investment is a good idea. BTC is obviously valued a lot higher right now compared to ETH, but it's impossible to tell how their values will compare in the future. I do however fear that the value of ETH could decline after ICOs have run their course.

I prefer bitcoin because it is only the digital currency accepted in our local base platform to convert to cash so I prefer to earn it. Besides, most signature campaign in bitcoin pays weekly while in altcoin, there are few who pays weekly while most of them pays after 1-3 months which is quite long when you have urgent needs. I decided however to join signature campaign in altcoin now because I am quite busy and will not be able to fulfill the post required weekly in bitcoin signature campaigns.

Why not? I think the smart contract of Ethereum really good, it helps us solve many problems as want to create a crowdsale for your ICO project. I'd rather side with ones, who prefer Bitcoin. Though of course I have to admit that ETHERIUM cryptocurrency is a really good alternative and should be considered as a good currency for diversification, however, only an alternative currency, which is really important to understanding that Bitcoin is probably the most important cryptocurrency in the world, which means that I'd rather hold BTC as it's considered to be the first. The other good reason (which has already been mentioned here) is the limited supply of Bitcoin, which in the long run makes BTC way more valuebale and cryptocurrency as ETH's supply is unlimited.

In conclusion, I would like to point out that both currencies are really valuable and have proved to be reliable and stable. Before  I was also confused on what is ethereum but then i found out that this ethereum is different from bitcoin. Bitcoin was just a currency and ethereum was also a cryptocurrency but more focus on its technology. You cant find a good paying faucets these days because of the price or btc value is expensive. So I always choose bitcoin and ethereum so both. Both are good investment that offer profit in the end.

i would go with BTC as it is a stable and settled digital cryptocurrency that has a decentralised nature . It has many advantages like the transaction fees is very low as compared to other methods worldwide , it cannot be stolen like  any other physical currency can , no one can see our transaction and know our balance , no third party like banks and all can see our transactions , no one can freeze bitcoins ,they are user friendly .

You can always do both, I cannot decide righ noe because the value of bitcoins come on their highest with a 5300$ and still continuing to grow. Luckily I had saved some bitcoins on my wallet so I got some profits on that pump. On the other hand, ethereum is quite cheaper than bitcoins which is more affordable, and I also hope that their value will increase just like what happened to bitcoins. I bought a lot of ethereum last month because a lot of people are saying thaf it is the nect bitcoins and I want to be a millionaire.

Five years is a some good duration and bitcoin can give this much profit within months.
