The pool address is incorrect in the ANN. It is actually here : http://us01.coppercoin.net/ (note the missing 0 in the link in the OP Thread)

However, I can't get the nodes to sync, even with a manual -addnode= arguement in the commandline :(

Anybody have any luck getting the wallet to sync with either of the two nodes (note that I also tried the IP for the 2 nodes, and can't even trace to them...)

I also believe that you are right. This project have nothing to share/offer and nothing is working.

The coin was launched today. There are no reserved coins. The only way to have coins now is mining or staking the mined coins.
In the future coin will be added to Altcoin Exchanges.

Normally I'd say CPU/ASIC only for Scypt, however difficulty is pretty low, so maybe give the GPU a go for a while and see if you can grab some coin.

About this CPU mining, is it possible if I tried to mine using a laptop that are running in an AMD APU processor?

Has anyone got any staking rewards? My coins have been in wallet for 48hrs but still no stake, even though it says i should expect to get it in 6 minutes.

Paste the following text into Coppercoin.conf and save the file.

Edit: The min stake age looks to be 8 hours. The max is unlimited.  Someone holding more than 8 hours should have staked something by now.  Looking through block explorer now...

Edit: I don't see anything that looks like a stake transaction in the last 100 blocks.

I have version v1.0.0.0-g3 fully synced with 150,000 Copper, has been open for 2 weeks and haven't staked anything. i am # 36 on the rich list but no stakes ????????????????????????????????? ::)

Pool works great. Probably one of the most effective pools I have ever had experience with. reject shares very low.

The only problem I see with coin is wallet staking is not working so far. Easily corrected with wallet update. I have never seen a newly issued crypto that did not have growing pains coming out the gate

Not now, certain block number has to be met. I think mining ends at 1,000,000 then PoS takes over, I think. Not 100% sure, something like that. I just know as of now PoS has not kicked in. New coin, I am sure whitepaper down the road into 2018

I think that on the web site of coppercoin.net for the web wallet, we should have at least a real and valid SSL. I know that ethereum is used by many tokens as their platform. The same should apply for coppercoin, to develop a technology so that new coins use our own platform, I'm not an expert but many see ethereum as a great team of developer and this is because they are well accepted among cryptocurrencies around the world, we should be as ambitious as them.

I've seen this coin listed on Cryptopia for some time now but haven't known much about the coin.  I only just recently found the website for the coin which doesn't give the coin the appeal it needs, imo, to catch fire and grab attention to the coin to make someone want to invest in it.  Not being on Coinmarketcap.com makes me throw up a red flag immediately.  It not being listed on Coinpuffs.com, which lists 500 more coins than Coinmarketcap, makes me throw up another red flag.  If this coin were to get listed on either of those site, it would validate it's legitimacy in my opinion and possibly make something of it's self!  Then again, this could be a scam coin and site not worried about legitimacy?  I do not see this coin listed on any other exchange even so, what's the deal?!

it's not a scam coin just because the owner of this coin holds 16% of the total supply and still didnot spent the supply yet even if the coin is at 84 now, from 14 to 84 I never saw the owner selling his supply so..if it would be a scam why the owner who will still do anything ? Also a whitepaper is coming in 2018 from the dev team. The idea is to find a balance between finding and requesting blocks. If your machine is requesting blocks too frequently, it will spend more time sending and receiving and less time mining. If your machine is spending too long mining and getting a lot of rejections, it is because others are beating you to results.

So start in the middle since you have an L3+ and let it run for 24hrs, then move up one level and see what the results look like and then make a decision to stay, go back down or try another increase. Rinse, repeat :)

Interesting idea. My only initial thought is that the recycling places I've ever been to (3-4 over the years) are among the most low-tech businesses I've ever seen. Might be a bear just getting them into the tech required to be able to process payments.

I just read the first page of this thread. A total of 84,000,000 token supply is quite reachable specially if you have a good team. I also read statement "Coppercoin is an open source, global payment network that is fully decentralized without any central authorities." I got confused, what is the difference if the project have a central authorities and the project that don't have? Is there any disadvantages between the two?

Couple of thoughts there... I think Bitcoin, for example, is truly decentralized... no one group has supreme authority... lots of infighting and some groups have culled together enough sway to be influential... so say what you want about all that... but the idea is that Bitcoin can't be changed or manipulated to the whim of one person. Or one company. Or one large holder, etc. It's truly, globally, decentralized.

Coppercoin no doubt has the mission to be such, but I'd fear at this infant stage its not actually decentralized. Only 2-3 pools available to mine. The only blockchain explorer and main pool are on CopperCoin.net, the main website for the project, and I think someone out there is paying to host a node for it. What happens if they change their mind? Does it come crashing down? Are there enough nodes to keep it alive? Not really sure the answers to this stuff because I haven't had the time to dig... but I think in order to begin its decentralization, it needs to be independent of one or two people who are probably keeping it alive right now.

Maybe a good first step is for 2-3 of us to volunteer hosting nodes for the coin to keep it's pulse. Thoughts?

3. The transaction from Cryptopia to Wallet does not work because it does not find Wallet's address.

Seems as though Coppercoin is largely broken again. Or at least mining seems to be. The Coppercoin.net official pool hadn't paid out hardly anything to me over the last few days, so I sought out an alternative. Using the LuckyAltCoin pool (see my posts just above) and throwing some hashing power over there, and I haven't been paid much either.

Any idea what's going on? I was previously getting deposits nearly every hour... and now I get almost none ever. Is this is a blockchain issue? Something to do with pools not being able to pay out? Do the pools know there's an issue? Am I the only one having this problem?

For the past 24 hours, I've had 3.3-3.7 Mh/s pointed at LuckyAltcoin Pool and still have 1.3 Mh/s pointed at Coppercoin.net -- and I've only received a single deposit of 6.72 coins. For a few hours yesterday I had an L3+ pointed at LuckyAltCoin.

So... I'm going to put an L3+ back on Lucky now, leave everything else where its at... and see where I'm at in the morning.

It’s actually to do with the network diff, so far LuckAtcoin has only found 6 blocks total and only 1 recently that is still pending confirmation. Really it’s just there are a lot of people mining somewhere on a different pool. Rest assured your chunk of the 200 copper coin is coming your way.

Yes, This project looks abandoned. There is nothing alive any more. I tried to send mail to contact also but no answer.

The only known contact is the Coppercoin user here and he/she is relatively silent. I’ve asked on multiple occasions how to help the community.

The explorer is here at explorer.coppercoin.net however, if you look at the explorer, the block reward has never been cut in half from the 200 per block.  If there really was a max supply of 84,000,000 coins, as the dev said in the first post, then there should have been a block reward halving at approximately 42,000,000 coins.  Well, they have already produced 48,307,922 coins.  The miners have been churning out approximately 4,250,000 coins per month and there is no sign of them slowing down.  This means that they will blast past the supposed 84,000,000 coin limit in less than a year and continue to churn out an additional 51,000,000 coins per year.

Not that any of you know who I am or care, however I have dire news for anyone even remotely invested in this coin. 

Short story is they did a botch job with the code for this coin. I, like others, were expecting the reward to halve at some point. So I looked around to see when that might occur.
Result: It won't ever halve.  200 coins is hardcoded PoW reward forever, well not forever, PoS will pick up at block 1,000,000. but by then, Max supply will have been hit.

Do some simple math and realize that 1,000,000 * 200 = 200 mil  which is far in excess of the stated 84mil max coin cap.

Working backwards you find:
84,000,000 / 200 = 420,000
 
This means we run out of rewards (PoW&PoS) on block 420,000 with no intervention.
current block : ~289,000

Please correct me if i'm wrong. but in a few months we will be mining empty PoW blocks. And PoS will have a 0% a year return, since we will hit max supply long before the millionth block.

Solution (as proposed by me, so feel free to chime in)

Start havling the coin ASAP. so we don't max out half way through the initial PoW phase.
Do this by setting up a variable to track how often we halve, then add the logic into the function which sets mining rewards.

Add a static variable to keep track of our halving.

While I agree with you that the coin is heavily broken in many aspects, I would like to point out that you probably misinterpret how the int64_t MAX_MONEY = setting is working. Check it by grepping the sources for MAX_MONEY and you will see where it is used.

AFAICS MAX_MONEY does not limit the supply in any way, but does actually just limit what the largest sendable amount on the network can be. The supply limit is only enforced through the reward function you quoted and therefor currently there is no limit at all IMHO.

That is, reward will be 200 until eternity.

Their intentions aren't known because they've communicated nothing. I think it was a hobby or project for the devs, and they appear to have moved on. I'm not a dev or programmer, so I'm not sure what's involved in taking over... but I'd love to help do so if there was a way. I hold a very large number of these coins and could help finance some parts.

Well, no contact with the original dev yet.  I suspected this might be the case, but we'll wait a couple more weeks to be sure that there's no interest there.

In the meantime, here's a few things that I will do:

• Create a Discord channel called Coppercoin Working Group - that's what it will be, for discussion on the next steps for Coppercoin and resolving the present problems
• Procure a few domain names that will be used in the near future for the new Coppercoin site & for official email
• Create a Twitter account for announcements & marketing, etc

This won't be a one-man show and we will come up with solutions based on community consensus.  There's a lot to discuss and decide on, and we'll need everyone's help.  I realize that everyone isn't a developer, web guru or pool operator.  We need those, but enthusiasts and those with Coppercoin's best interests in mind are welcome and come prepared to make a difference.

As far as Discord, we will have a general chat channel, mining and such.  Later down the road, we might have some giveaways, but I'm not planning on doing a bunch of airdrops or such, but that's up to the community if that's desired.  Getting, the POS working is the first priority, since it's never worked.

BTW, Coppercoin is still a bargain on Cryptopia.  Someone sold off quite a bit the other day.  Sad to say they will miss out on staking, but everyone has different ideas and priorities.

A few things have been accomplished in the last hour:

• coppercoin.tech & coppercoin.online have been paid for.  Unfortunately, most of all of the regular domains have already been taken for coppercoin

I would be very careful if you are thinking of investing in Coppercoin.  Cryptopia has been delisting low-volume coins left and right lately.  They just did a mass delisting of 69 coins without any warning this month.  Many coins similar to Coppercoin were delisted, such as Polishcoin.  Cryptopia is the only place that Coppercoin trades, so if they decide to delist it, it will instantly become worthless without any notice.  If you try to invest in Coppercoin thinking that you can just HODL for the long haul, think again.  You may be holding a bag of worthless shitcoins that cannot even be traded for one satoshi after it gets delisted in a few months.  Heed my warning.  I was holding a substantial amount of six different coins that got delisted by Cryptopia and I lost over 1.5 BTC worth of alt-coins in one day because they permanently shut off the trade markets without any prior notice at all.

If you believe in Coppercoin and you just want to develop it as a fun project, fine.  But keep in mind that if you actually invest any of your BTC in Coppercoin, then you are at the mercy of Cryptopia, and then you're going to have to get down on your knees and beg them to keep it listed.  If you just want to mine as much as you can and dump it immediately as long as it is still trading, then go ahead.

Thanks for the words of wisdom.  We're trying to fix a broken coin left to languish by the original dev.  Nothing would surprise me at this point.  Cryptopia isn't the only exchange out there and we can get listed at many. No begging will be done or needed.  I personally want to get this coin fixed for all of those that have invested in it and expected the POS to work.

Seeing that we have about 25% of available Coppercoins on Cryptopia, then means a lot of people are simply mining & holding.  We'll stay the course and when we take over the coin, then we'll work on getting it on other exchanges and bring in new features and such.

I would like to try to keep it on Cryptopia, but I don't know what I can do.  They already delisted Polishcoin, which still had a smoothly working blockchain and block explorer.  Since I am holding a bunch of Polishcoin I was going to contact them about that first and see if there is any way I can save that listing.  If I find out any information that would be applicable to Coppercoin, I will post it here.

Hello Coppercoin enthusiasts and holders!

After consulting with the community & developers, I think that I have come up with a strategy that will appeal to everyone.  I want to get your feedback before we go forward.  I will be working on another ANN after we make decisions on this, so your input on these items is essential.

POS:  Fix POS in the wallet, make it a fixed 10% annually.  This will reward those that have been buying/mining/holding since Sept 2017 and help your crypto nestegg grow.  POS implementation will also secure the blockchain against 51% attacks and double-spending attacks.  This particular item is more important than the 10% annual "interest", but the interest is a nice feature that comes along with blockchain security.

POW:  The phasing out of POW by the 84 millionth coin.  84 million coins are the current max possible supply, but this does not provide for a viable coin beyond 2019.  When we hit the 84 millionth coin, we go to pure POS.  That means that the Coppercoin chain will depend on wallets being open and providing block finding/transaction handling.  We're close to 74 million coins in current supply, so that would give the miners plenty of coins to mine and hopefully hold.

Raise Max Supply:  I propose that we raise the max supply to 168 million, which is double the current max supply.  If we stay with the current block rate per day (~7.3 million per year I've been told), then that will give us about 12 years until we hit max supply.

Utility: Personally I think that Coppercoin has a loyal following and that we individually and corporately can find utility for Coppercoin.  There are lots of ideas that have been given and I have a few ideas for payment using Coppercoin.

I'll post this reply on Discord & Telegram and I'll be looking forward to your input.  We need to make a decision in the next week on this, so please take the time to let us know your opinions.

Just a suggestion..  Coppercoin is still at a great price and if you want to earn 10% in the future, mining or buying & holding is a great idea.  As long as I have anything to do with it, we won't do anything questionable or "pump & dump-ish". 

I've been a miner since early 2016 and have for the most part avoided PnD coins.  Making a good coin better is what I'm after with Coppercoin and also looking after the best interest of the investors & enthusiasts.  It is a hobby for me, and making money isn't everything, but it sure is nice :D

Please bear in mind that you can buy Coppercoin at Cryptopia at good prices, once we implement pos staking, mining will become less effective and we expect the price to go up on the exchange.  We will probably implement a reduction of pow rewards as 200 coins per block is too much.  I'm thinking that we might want to reduce it down to below 50 coins per block for pow.  If you have an opinion, please let me know.

 Of course, we have to do a lot of testing once we come to decisions, but I would say that you could count on something by Q1 2019.  If you want to participate in the testing, please let us know.

Hi all, we will be delisted from Cryptopia on 1/10/19 and I personally will not be pursuing trying to prevent the delisting.  From everything that I've seen transpire there, I think it would be a waste of time and we can find better exchanges for Coppercoin.

I am checking with trade.thecoin.pw if they want to list Coppercoin. Since the coin is alive and wallet is syncing, they might add it. Just wondering, is the Windows wallet not staking? Says I should have a stake every 0 seconds but nothing yet. I just synced the wallet so it might be a minimum time that the coins have to be synced with the newtwork in order to get stake rewards?

Quite true. At the moment you can mine only 1500 COPPER with 0.0001 BTC
On NOVA you can buy 56000 COPPER now for that same 0.0001 BTC
The current price should be at least 10 times higher but people are not
willing to invest that prices at the moment for COPPER.

I think it is really time that the POS phase should start now. That will most certainly

Did it ever cross your mind that there might be not enough interest for trading COPPER ?
Moving to another exchange wont solve that for sure and will mean large costs.
The only problem with NovaExchange is the exclusion of US traders. If lots of traders are
american then another exchange migh be necessary.

For the moment it is better to spend funds for development and change the coins specifics
so that POS phase will start in the coming weeks and not at block 1.000.000
I have traded COPPER a lot already at NOVA and it is clear that there are enough potential
buysers/sellers but the price paid at the moment is 0.004 DOGE which is far to low.

Coppercoin is a solid coin which traded well in the past at Cryptopia. When the POS phase will be started
succesfully I am sure that the prices will rise again. 
At the moment pure POW-coins are not very popular but strong POW/POS-coins are still very must wanted.

I dont think there is a fork. POW difficulty is very high at the same time that mining stopped.
At the moment I see that new miners are active at the US and EU mining pools and you can
see that 90% of all hashes are accepted. I think that we will be seeing new blocks again in
the coming days.

Still no new blocks are shown in the explorer. When you look at the US mining pool you can see
that lots of new blocks have been found there (still pending) but they dont show up in the explorer
Nerdlabs has the suspicion that the US mining pool is running on a different chain and I think that
he could be right after all. On the EU mining pool there are still no new blocks found.

I have been mining 6 days on both the EU-pool and the Smithpool. Not 1 block was found !
The situation seems obvious. There has been a blockchain split and the US-pool is on the
new chain and all the other pools are on the old chain which is inactive now.

Something has to be done now by the devs otherwise the COPPER coin will die.

We have now placed the COPPER wallet under maintenance, and we hope that the dev replies or that at least there are no forks on the chain and that it stabilizes. We are going to keep an eye on the coin, and if anything changes and the chain becomes stable and there are new blocks, we will release the wallet....
