Title: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! Proof of Capacity is here.
Post by: pinkflower on October 03, 2017, 03:25:15 AM
Greetings fellow altcoin followers and all the same to the altcoin prophets of doom. I declare myself as the Burst unofficial official news bringer. Its time to let each of you know that Burst's future is now in the good hands of the Proof of Capacity Consortium!

I shall be posting all the updates and reports in this thread. Keep your eyes peeled.

https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-5-10012017/

  • The PoC Consortium finally released their Android wallet! Sending and receiving money is now as simple as scanning a QR code. Beta phase is finished, but more exciting features are already planned. You can download it on Google Play.
  • Additionally, some screenshots were published with the announcement that seem to indicate a working iOS version of the wallet. Although the PoCC hasn’t commented on this so far, an iOS version would make sense as already mentioned in the Weekly
Burst Report #3. The use of Steve Jobs’ “one more thing” phrase while introducing these screenshots seems quite obvious!
  • The PoCC developers are still working on the 1.3.6cg version of their wallet.
  • The PoCC added a chart page to their explorer. It currently includes a richlist, top forgers, balance distribution and block winners but as you can see on the page that more charts are on the way.
  • BurstNation is going to launch a BurstNation branded wallet focused on simplicity, as shown on the preview they did in their latest Live Meeting.

Past reports can be seen in Burscoinist (https://www.burstcoin.ist) website.

Great for this coin, but i always wonder what could make it better than the other coin that are offering quite the same service ?

They may offer the same features but the technology behind them are different. What I love about Burst is it had a fair launch. No ICO, no premine or other tricks to get their hands on the community's money. It is not a scam.

It is also using Proof of Capacity for mining. It is something quite unique and something that should be developed further.

Great for this coin, but i always wonder what could make it better than the other coin that are offering quite the same service ?

Which other coin does offer you Proof-of-Capacity?Mining is like 400x more energy efficient than e.g. Bitcoin:

https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/infography_mining_comparison.png

So energy efficient mining and just distribution - and not a scam as all PoS coins are.
Yes, PoS coins are also energy-efficient, but they are scam.

You heard me right. They get created by the coin issuer and then some "just" distribution is pretended by some airdrops or - worse - ICOs.
Hey I made 1 billion of this great FROBOZZLE token. You can buy one at only 10 Satoshi each...  ::)

A Burst transaction does cost you 200 Satoshi. I'd certainly like to see that service in Bitcoin.

Sure - you could do an ICO on the Ethereum blockchain, but you can also do it on the Burst blockchain. Again: cheaper and more energy-efficient.

I can't rel say this is what I will get holding this coin long term, but one thing I notice is that Burst has a very great community that is of a great benefit ti the project at large

There is currently a revolution taking place in Burst and it's very refreshing. Now that efforts are being made to undertake major changes in development and communication we are finally seeing big improvements.

The network is now much more stable than it has ever been, development is going strong and the community is slowly rebuilding itself. The potential is huge if you think about it: an energy efficient coin with a one of a kind protocol (Proof of Capacity), smart contracts (that Burst was the first to implement), atomic cross-chain transactions, asset exchange, etc... That's some very promising stuff here, with the added bonus of having had a 100% fair release.

I like the concept of Burst and actually prefer it to other proof-of-capacity coins like storj (as I can't see them progress with any acceptable speed).

Since I try to make money from each and every opportunity I see what interested me more about three months ago was mining it. You just needed a good size hard drive and you can start making money. At that time it was somewhat profitable.

If you had about a 100 TB you could get about $600 with it and if you put in mind that the price a month later got double or so so you could get more than 1k.

But today the situation is different.
It got attacks, down time, network trouble etc.

When I checked if there's still any calculators online I found this only https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/tool/calculate
And when I put in 100 TB I found it gives less than a $100 !!

That's even less than a dollar for each TB. Of course it's totally unprofitable. I'm not sure if it's that accurate though.
I need to find if you know someone who is still mining to tell us how much he makes now.

EDIT: I just found on youtube a guy posted his stats for last month month and yes it went down to a dollar or so. So no thank you burst. Better luck with another coin.

I am very sorry to hear that. The the difficulty in mining Burst really has gone high and the low price doesnt alleviate the unprofitable conditions. But this is the situation we have and we as supporters should accept and find other means to help Burst.

I have started running a node and I will try to keep it on for as long as I can with maybe some downtime if there are issues.

Things move generally at a fast pace in the cryptoworld. What you describe is true for a situation 3 months ago (great profits with mining) and 6-8 weeks ago (attacks on network & instability).

There is no down time anymore, network is rock stable and yes, the mining profitability has changed.

Yes, about $75 now. This, however is one of the many indicators that Burst is at the moment undervalued like hell. People do not yet know about the changed situation. And whoever is willing to sell to you at the current price ... well, you're basically ripping them off. You should not mine, you should buy it - take advantage of the information asymmetry. Because as soon as a larger part of the crypto-community realizes that the Burst today is not the Burst 6 weeks ago, a massive FOMO will set in.

EDIT: I just found on youtube a guy posted his stats for last month month and yes it went down to a dollar or so. So no thank you burst. Better luck with another coin.

See above. If you are a "miner only", I totally agree - don't mine Burst now. If you are here for the profits, you actually see - right now - a Bitcoin at $10. If you know what I mean.

Thank you for all these answer ! I didn't know about it, very glad to hear it.
I was looking to invest in one of these "cloud storage" coin, think the idea is awesome we need good crypted and decentralized storage !
The fact that there is no premine, no ICO sounds really good !
I'll totally look closer about BURST :D

You dont understand. Burstcoin is not like SIA or STORJ. Burstcoin uses Proof of Capacity as a mining algorithm, not as a form of decentralized storage system. PoC is unique because its the only practical implementation of mining coins with hard drives.

Greetings my fellow forumites! In case some of you want to learn more about Burst HDD mining then watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG-j3Km4KYk)!

Many of you might have spare hard drives around your house. Why not put them to good use and mine Burst? Its not as energy intensive as GPU mining so the slight increase in your electricity bill will be tolerable.

For further questions, go to the getburst.net forum (https://forums.getburst.net/c/mining-and-plotting).

New update from the PoCC! This is the 6th weekly report ever since they took over Burst's development. They are working very hard on improving the GUI and the underlying code, and some support from the whole community is be very needed and hopefully it will also be very rewarding for our pockets.

Weekly Burst Report #6 – 10/08/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-6-10082017/)

  • “The PoCC team is busy and buried under loads of work”, according to Rico666, a PoC Consortium member.
  • The PoC Consortium confirmed that work on the iOS version of their mobile wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.icewave.burstcoinwallet) is underway, but no release date have been given so far.
  • They seems to be also working on the internationalization of the mobile wallet: I would expect new languages and currencies support soon.
  • The Burst wiki website at https://burstwiki.org/ is quickly becoming the go-to source of information for the Burst community. The pace at which information is added is breathtaking. For example, we now have a full Burst API (https://burstwiki.org/wiki/The_Burst_API) with a list of examples (https://burstwiki.org/wiki/The_Burst_API_Examples).

There are also informative interviews from PoCC developers here (https://www.burstcoin.ist/meet-a-developer-1-interview-with-rico666/) and here (https://www.burstcoin.ist/meet-a-developer-2-interview-with-ac0v/).

Maybe a pointer to https://twitter.com/PoC_Consortium would be in order.
There are news that do not make it to BWN, yet still may be of interest to some.

Like e.g.  Deutsch, Français, Pýccкий, Slovensky, 中文 translations to the mobile wallet and similar stuff.

I like that burst is less energy intensive... I really think energy use is going to be a problem going forward.  I heard that every Bitcoin transaction (not every block, every individual transaction)uses enough energy to power a house for one month. That is the type of thing that could turn the public against cryptocurrencies.

It is finally that time of the week! This week is a little more silent than the past how many updates, but be guaranteed that the Burst developers are hard at work. The improvements behind the scenes will translate in the market value of the project. Let us keep the faith and believe.

Weekly Burst Report #7 – 10/15/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-7-10152017/)

  • The PoCC mobile wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.icewave.burstcoinwallet) has been updated two times this week. It now includes 10 new languages: German, French, Russian, Slovak, Chinese, Spanish, Hungarian, Italian, Polish and Swedish, along with 30 new currencies and some bugfixes.
  • The 1.3.6cg version of the wallet is going to be released in the very short future. I have been given the chance of seeing a preview and it will bring many exciting features, as well as strong foundations for future versions.
  • A new process similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum’s respective BIP and EIP have been introduced for Burst: the Capability Improvement Proposals (CIP). The goal is to define a formal process to suggest improvement for Burst. A CIP is a design document providing information to the Burstcoin community, or describing a new feature for Burstcoin or its processes or environment. CIPs are described here: https://burstwiki.org/wiki/CIP.
  • @Quibus wrote a very interesting technical paper (http://files.getburst.net/Technical-information-to-create-plot-files.pdf) on how the plot files are created with Burst’s Proof-of-Capacity. It should help many understand the process.
  • @Zohtar launched a new service to monitor your wallet. The software will monitor your wallet and notify you if it get out of sync via e-mail. Zohtar is also the creator of the Burst Payment Notification System.
  • On wednesday the Burst blockchain was 100,000,000 seconds old – with more than 100,000 wallets created and 6,000,000 transactions this is only the beginning for Burst!
  • We exceeded 9000 followers on the @burstcoin_dev (https://twitter.com/Burstcoin_dev) twitter account. Next target: 10,000!

I'm glad to see Burst recovering after all the drama a few months back.
The whole thing went nuts there for awhile, but I kept mining.

It's a great concept and I knew it would win out over the drama in the end.

Week 8 updates are out but theres not much significant releases for this week. Thats quite disappointing because I was expecting more. But be assured that the PoCC is hard at work to bring us the best Proof of Capacity coin in the world.

Weekly Burst Report #8 – 10/22/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-8-10222017/)

  • BurstNation is currently working on the implementation of websockets for the core wallets, so that they don’t rely on direct http requests.
  • BurstNation released a new asset tool for asset issuers. It is meant to be a better asset exchange application than directly using the desktop Wallet. You can download it on GitHub (https://github.com/GoldZeus/BurstAssetExchange).
  • BurstNation officials informed me that 3 new pool softwares are currently under development.
  • Although The PoC Consortium did not make any significant new release this week, its developers are extremely busy. “All I can say at the moment, is that the dedication of the PoCC members to bring Burst forward is unbowed and after more than two months of Burst development we’re not only more efficient at what we do for Burst, but also start to address more challenging tasks. Not all of this work may be visible immediately and quite some of it also takes longer than a week before we can present it”, declared Rico666 today.

That’s good report you have made. Nicely arranged blog by the way, is it your own blog.
Burstcoin seems to be old player but somehow I did not hear about it much on the forum itself. May be I lost it but after reading the blog post it seems fair enough investment to me. The coin looks very cheap at the movement and could be good deal to buy. Hope you bring some good updates here.

No, its not my blog. I am merely trying to help the Burst community have some presence here in this forum. I am also holding some Bursts and theres a financial motive for doing it.

It also helps that I believe in what the PoCC is doing. It is better to support them than some unknown ICO.

We finally have wallet version 1.3.6cg available after a few delays. I know these are not the updates that some of you have expected but the PoCC is always hard at work behind the scenes. If you are waiting for bigger news to pump the price then this is not the cryptocurrency for you. The PoCC is rebuilding Burst to be stable first. All the other big upgrades on it will come, but not this year.

Weekly Burst Report #9 – 10/29/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-9-10292017/)

  • The PoC Consortium finally released the 1.3.6cg version of the Burst wallet, with the goal of making it more reliable, faster, stronger! It includes a quick sync (syncing the blockchain takes minutes instead of hours) and the MariaDB, H2 and Firebird backends. You can now put your Burst wallet on a USB stick! Windows, Linux and soon Mac compatible. Download it on GitHub (https://github.com/ac0v/burstcoin/releases).
  • The PoC Consortium made a minor update to their mobile wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.icewave.burstcoinwallet). A few bugfixes and 4 new languages: Greek, Hindi, Korean and Tamil.
  • Quibus made a major update for his Windows launcher. It is extremely useful for Windows users who want to install a local wallet easily. You can check the complete changelog and download it on GitHub (https://github.com/Quibus-burst/Burst-Wallet-Launcher/releases).
  • BurstNation is going to launch its own standalone desktop wallet very soon. The developers are waiting for Microsoft to do the process of certification for it to be available as a windows app in the Windows app store. The sourcecode will be released as well.

A nice blog from one of Burst's greatest supporters, Tom Creance. He compares Proof of Capacity and Proof of Stake, and shows how PoC is better for decentralization and reaching consensus in most ways.

Human evolution always goes towards more efficiency. It makes life easier and more productive. From my perspective, cryptocurrency mining evolution should be the same.

Truly thanks for the support. The developers need it now more than ever. Without the community, I doubt that the PoCC would be interested taking over to improve the platform.

By the way, I know I said theres nothing big coming from Burst until the end of the year. But maybe there is one. I will leave Rico666 to tell you what it is.

Besides this week's update, theres also some rumors that Burst was added to Prism (https://prism.exchange/login), its Shapeshift's trustless portfolio market platform. Can anyone confirm if this is true? The platform is in close beta now, but if you are participating in the beta test, please confirm it. Ty.

Weekly Burst Report #10 – 11/05/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-10-11052017/)

  • In the sake of organization and transparency, the PoC Consortium is now centralizing its development efforts in one single GitHub page.
  • As you can see here, many commits happened lately. “The wallet is undergoing a major reconstruction”, according to Rico666. Something big could be ahead. The code is currently being refactored to make it better, simpler and more flexible, as well as removing the old NXT occurences.
  • The PoC Consortium is also working on its explorer. This week, they made a small update adding QR codes to accounts’ page, in order to make the explorer a good partner to the mobile wallet.
  • There is now a brand new Burst Visual Identity Guide. Logo and icon usage, color palette, typeface… Everything is in there! This is accompanied by a rebuild of the Logo and Graphics page on burst-coin.org. You can now find “Burst Accepted Here” and “Powered By Burst” images! All marketing resources are now kept on a specific GitHub page.
  • BurstNation released a new software: the Burst Spy Gadget. It allows a user to monitor the blockchain and instantly notify transactions, including asset exchange orders. The notifications will show on your windows desktop just like other applications such as discord or skype. The source code is available on GitHub.

It has been a quiet week for Burst. No "big announcements" or anything because the PoCC fears that the Burst community might find them underwhelming. But be assured that they are still working hard behind the scenes to keep the network stable.

I hope the next announcements will be received well by the general audience, not just the Burst community.

Weekly Burst Report #11 – 11/12/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/weekly-burst-report-11-11122017/)

  • Quibus is working on a huge update for his Windows launcher, soon to be renamed Qbundle. The new version is currently beta tested and will bring many exciting improvements and new features, including:
The possibility to “install as a service”. It will allow the wallet to run in the background, and to be started automatically if you restart your computer.

Plotting and mining software (Xplotter and Blago miner) included, but not shiped. This means that when you will click “start mining” it will detect if the miner is installed. If it is not, it will give you the possibility to install it from the launcher. This way, people who are not interested in mining do not have to download and use this software.
Many more improvements are going to be included. Quibus is currently looking for beta testers, feel free to contact him on Discord (https://discordapp.com/invite/RPhpjVv) (Quibus#7655) to get a download link.
  • The PoC Consortium greatly improved their Explorer (https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/) by adding 12 new charts (https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/chart). They are simple, fast and clean. Check them out!
  • BurstNation released a new version (https://github.com/GoldZeus/BurstSpyGadget/releases) of their Burst Spy software.
  • The domain name of the Burst-Team forum has been changed to burstforum.net. This is a simple change but it now better reflects the nature of the forum. According to Haitch, we should see improvement in uptime as well: “uptime should be better. I dropped a lot on a new server, and will be getting it a partner to make everything fully redundant.”

Greetings my fellow forumites. The Burst weekly reports are back! Please take some time to read about all of them in burstcoin.ist if you missed them. Rico666 and the PoCC are trying their best to produce a good, stable platform for an environment friendly cryptocurrency. Let's show our appreciation by learning more about it, and if you like what you see, then please help us spread the word. Ty.

Weekly Burst Report #12 – 11/26/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/11/26/weekly-burst-report-12-11-26-2017/)

  • The code base of Burst is going through a heavy refactoring by removing the unnecessary relics from the NXT code, by improving code quality and efficiency and by making it generally better, simpler and more flexible. “The next version will almost have every line of code touched”, according to Rico666, one of the PoC Consortium core developers. Some statistics on core development were displayed on Twitter (https://twitter.com/Burstcoin_dev/status/933497493341470720) a few days ago: since the launch of 1.3.6cg a little less than a month ago, there have been 887 files modified, 51,043 insertions (+) and 117,807 deletions (-)!

  • The version 1.3 of Qbundle, the hands-on Windows launcher, has been released. It brings many new features, such as plotting and mining software, ability to run as a service and much more. With this update, Qbundle proves itself to be the successor of the AIO client for the latest cg versions of the wallet. You can see the full changelog and download Qbundle on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/Qbundle/releases).

  • BurstNation announced a few moments ago that they are still awaiting for Windows approval to get their own wallet on the Windows App Store. However, they shared a link (https://www.burstnation.com/wbb/index.php?thread/4385-burst-windows-wallet-new-app-release-by-burstnation-com-use-it-before-its-in-win/) to allow everyone to download the wallet before it gets on the store. “It is a lite version of the wallet you are all used to, kept simple and straight forward. It is aimed at mainstream people, no fluff, no fancy features that would confuse people etc.”

The Burst community is getting very excited about the release of some new feature or features on the platform. But I want to tell everyone not to expect too much. If you do, you might end up in disappointed.

Having said that, good things are still coming, many thanks to all the PoCC's hard work.

Weekly Burst Report #13 – 12/03/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/03/weekly-burst-report-13-12-03-2017/)

  • The important news of the week! In last week’s report, I discussed the extensive code reformating that is currently taking place within the Burst core and why it is a good sign. It turns out the PoC Consortium have big things planned for 2017, as they recently stated on Twitter (https://twitter.com/PoC_Consortium).

  • And it doesn’t stop here. Yesterday the Burst roadmap (https://www.burst-coin.org/roadmap) was updated, as announced by a @Burstcoin_dev tweet (https://twitter.com/Burstcoin_dev/status/937079491960197122) that was also asking to “pay attention to the details”. Some people quickly found out about a particular element under the “current” category of the roadmap: When asked about it, the PoC Consortium responded (https://twitter.com/PoC_Consortium/status/937130913451921408) with a very interesting link. Check it out: https://dymaxion.burst.cryptoguru.org/

  • Although we can expect something really big from the PoC Consortium by December 27th, that doesn’t mean we cannot expect smaller things too. As @rico666 stated on bitcointalk.org, “we have the iOS version of the wallet ready for over a month, but Apple is blocking it (as they do with basically all Alt-Wallets)”. The PoCC seems to currently armwrestle with Apple to get the Burst mobile wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.icewave.burstcoinwallet) listed in the iOS App store.

  • Some exclusive news from BurstNation: they are going to release a new core wallet jar file with websockets implemented. Testing is complete and they are currently packaging it for release. What are the benefits of such a thing? According to @Focus, “sync speeds have gone up from 100~150 blocks per minute to approximately 5000-10000 blocks per minute depending on your cpu/bandwidth”.

Another week, another weekly report and the Burst community is nothing but more excited than ever.

The Dymaxion (https://dymaxion.burst.cryptoguru.org/) mystery will be known in 16 days time, so I hope all of you can join us and help in supporting the platform and also encourage the PoCC to bring better things in the world.

Having said that, again I'll say, to keep your expectations low. Dont buy Burst. Its risky.

Weekly Burst Report #14 – 12/10/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/11/weekly-burst-report-14-12-10-2017/)

  • More details about the Dymaxion! As the countdown is slowly decreasing and we are getting closer to December 27th, the PoC Consortium revealed more information to what it called “the biggest update to any crypto to date.”

  • On an exclusive interview they gave to The Burstcoinist, the developers ruled out a few things. The Dymaxion isn’t a partnership, and it isn’t a new feature. That narrows the range of possibilities. They clearly emphasized the fact that it is going to be something very large with some very bold statements, but also that Burst will remain Burst. “Lack of advancement will be the last thing the Burst community will mourn about in 2018.”

  • The speculation is going strong in the Burst community. @ryanw made a great forum post that summarizes everything that we know so far. The latest rumour? A little reply made on Discord by PoC Consortium developer rico666 grabbed some attention:
    https://forums.getburst.net/uploads/db7664/original/1X/2ff1b49130ba2223d2fc2dad14a20b69a997c43d.png
He responded with more precision later on: “The PoCC does not deny or qualify anything that you brought up. Except I’d be careful – if someone coughs it can have different reasons…”

  • @Quibus released the version 1.4 of Qbundle, the all-in-one Windows launcher. Changes include a dynamic plotting that can automatically add and remove plots files in the background, Burst price info and online/local wallet switch. You can download it and read the full changelog on GitHub. If you are already using v1.3, automatically update by clicking on Files -> Check for updates -> Download.

  • The PoC Consortium made another update to their explorer to include a notification service. The observer scans the network and the status periodically – people can subscribe for wallets they are interested in / want to monitor to be informed if the status of the wallet changes. The PoCC is now monitoring its global network of nodes this way.

I watched Burst for a long time and I felt that Burst was a good altcoin. I also invested in Burst and made a lot of profit from it. I am very happy that Burst is developing very well.

This is the latest update from burstcoin.ist.I know ts nothing much, BUT could this be the calm before the storm?

Another fear I have is the dump after the announcement. There are pump and dumpers out there that are always taking advantage of the real supporters and the believers, and I ask everyone to keep your expectations low.

If you are still not holding Burst, then dont buy. Its risky.

Weekly Burst Report #15 – 12/17/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/17/weekly-burst-report-15-12-17-2017/)

  • We are less than 10 days away from the Dymaxion launch, and new hints have been made public this week, in addition to what we already know thanks to the interview with some of the PoCC developers.

  • In a tweet published on Tuesday, the PoC Consortium made a few things clear. There will be no hard or soft fork on the December 27th, but “while forking will be inevitable in the near future, it will happen in a controlled manner.”

The countdown page has been updated with a new link on “Stage 2”. It leads to a Burst Heritage Tree picture:

    https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/HeritageTreeTeaser-230x300.png

  • PoC Consortium developer rico666 hinted that some boxes are going to be revealed before the 27th.

    https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Capture3.png

  • What can we understand with the heritage tree? It claims to represent “the technologies that inspired Burst, from its inception to the Dymaxion.” We can see that it is multidimentional and inspired by six different things. Following the color schemes, it looks like there are four main categories of technology leading to the post-Dymaxion Burst. What could they be?

  • It is official: the PoC Consortium Burst wallet has been proclaimed the designated successor of the former burst-team wallet (1.2.9). Therefore, the PoCC is going to ditch the “cg” part of their software, and release the next version of the wallet as 2.0.0, probably in January 2018.

  • Version 1.5 of Qbundle has been released. It includes mainly fixes in order to improve its reliability. You can see the full changelog and download it on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/Qbundle/releases).

Uh, fun. :)

I can read the blurred text on the image - but seems like they predicted that :D So it doesn't reveal more... but "you're going to love it".

Thanks for the update.

The Dymaxion upgrade will finally be presented in 24 hours! After weeks and weeks of posting and letting it known here in the forum, I still cant believe all of you are taking one of the biggest updates in cryptocurrencies for granted.

Maybe the lack of response will change tomorrow. See you on $1 per 1 Burst by the end of 2018.

Weekly Burst Report #16 – 12/24/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/25/weekly-burst-report-16-12-24-2017/)

  • Anticipation is at its peak: we are 3 days away from the Dymaxion, and the last hints from the PoC Consortium developers have been given to the public. This time, two new teasers of the Burst Heritage Tree were published. This is the lattest one:
    https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/HeritageTreeTeaser3-700x913.png

  • Bitcoin and Nxt were to be expected. It gets very interesting when you see the these two boxes: “Layers implementation” and “Colored coins”. If you want an overview of everything we know so far about the Dymaxion just read the megathread (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/7kbdf0/dymaxion_december_27th_2017/) on the Burst subreddit.

  • The PoC Consortium would like to remind the audience about a statement that was made some time ago: “Although we can expect something really big from the PoC Consortium by December 27th, that doesn’t mean we cannot expect smaller things too.” It appears like they might have something not Dymaxion-related to release very soon.

  • @Quibus released the version 1.6 of Qbundle. You can read the full changelog and download it on GitHub. If you are already a Qbundle user, just click “File” -> “Check for update” -> “Download updates”.

  • I missed it last week but here it is – BurstNation released the first ever Burst mixer (http://www.burstmixer.com/). You can entirely anonymize your Burst transactions!

Happy new year! If you take some time to read on the latest updates on Burst's development, you can see that the platform has improved from what it was a few months ago. If you are looking for an altcoin investment and a growing community, Burst will be a good one.

I hope many of you will join us.

Weekly Burst Report – Special Edition: 12/31/2017 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/31/weekly-burst-report-special-edition-12-31-2017/)

  • The Burst Dymaxion (http://www.burst-coin.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/The-Burst-Dymaxion-1.00.pdf) is a white paper describing a tangle-based lightning network – it implements layers to the Burst network in the form of payment channels. Each of these payment channels is opened in the form of standalone colored tangles, on top of the Burst blockchain that runs on the Proof-of-Capacity protocol. With the Dymaxion, Burst becomes a truly global, scalable, energy efficient and anonymous transaction system.

  • For those who want to know more about the Dymaxion without the technicalities of the white paper, I published a Burstcoinist article titled The Dymaxion Explained (http://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/27/the-dymaxion-explained-in-laymans-terms/) in Layman’s Terms. Another article is planned for next week, explaining the CIPs and the 2018 roadmap. Some further questions have been answered in a Q&A reddit megathread (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/7mdso7/dymaxion_question_and_answer/).

  • Implementation of the CIPs described in the white paper will start at the beginning of 2018. The PoC Consortium would like to stress the fact that the main bottleneck that may slow the implementation is the community, if wallets are not updated to the latest 1.3.6cg. Everybody using the AIO should update to Qbundle, and everybody still on 1.2.9 should update to 1.3.6cg. Download the latest version here (https://www.burst-coin.org/download-wallet).

  • The PoC Consortium posted an interesting screenshot on twitter (https://twitter.com/PoC_Consortium/status/946469423036162048):
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DSKI0XhW4AEkCqF.jpg
As you can see, the heavy code refactoring that is going on since the launch of 1.3.6cg also removed a hundred bugs and eighty vulnerabilities from the code, and developers are not even done yet. The BRS is going to be even more stable than now, and written in top-quality code.

  • The PoC Consortium posted a sneak peek of a new pool software that is going to be released in the very short future, probably next week. According to PoCC developer rico666, the pool will have a new interface and is going to be able to scale to tens of thousands of miners without performance losses.

Heres another weekly update from burstcoin.ist. They are coming nonstop and fast as the PoCC wants Burst to be one of the best cryptocurrency platforms thats deserving to be in coinmarketcap.com's top 10 in market value. But make no mistake that all updates and changes arent thoroughly tested because they are.

Having that said. By the time the PoCC are done, we will see Burst become a better platform than Ethereum if you ask me.

Weekly Burst Report #18 – 01/07/2018 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/01/08/weekly-burst-report-18-01-07-2018/)

  • We can expect a Burst Reference Software (BRS) 2.0.0 at the end of January. “This is intended to be a bug and vulnerability free wallet, extremely well tested, with cruft removed. It will be supporting a plethora of database backends, from small ones (like H2) up to really enterprise (Oracle, etc.), as well as the Dynamic Node Capabilities. This BRS 2.0.0 is going to be the solid foundation needed to build upon – yet it will be fully compatible with old wallet, and thus released without any fork.”

  • After that, we can expect three hard forks: the first one will include dynamic block size and transaction fees, the PoC2 protocol and some of the Dymaxion code, but inactive. The second one will implement and activate the remaining Dymaxion code – users should be able to play with it on the TestNet before that. Finally, the last fork concerns the implementation of the PoC3 protocol.

  • If you have not done already, I strongly suggest to read The Burst Dymaxion white paper (https://dymaxion.burst.cryptoguru.org/The-Burst-Dymaxion-1.00.pdf). I also published an article titled The Dymaxion Explained in Layman’s Terms (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2017/12/27/the-dymaxion-explained-in-laymans-terms/). The Burst Core Roadmap for 2018 (http://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/01/03/the-burst-core-roadmap-for-2018/) also gives you an explanation of the CIPs explained in the white paper. Finally, the PoC Consortium posted a Q&A about the Dymaxion (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/7ntef0/1_week_since_dymaxion_bulk_answers/) on Reddit.

  • The version 0.2.0 of the PoC Consortium Android wallet has been released. You can now send encrypted and unencrypted transaction messages (the app is now Bittrex-compatible), performance and UX have been improved, a contact book feature has been added, and more. The application is now published under the name PoC Consortium instead of ICE WAVE, to avoid confusion. You can download it on Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.icewave.burstcoinwallet) where it has already 2500 active installations and 4.6 stars.

  • @Quibus released the version 1.8 of Qbundle. You can read the full changelog and download it on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/Qbundle/releases). If you are already a Qbundle user, just click “File” -> “Check for update” -> “Download updates”.

  • The PoC Consortium is currently testing its new pool software, written in Go and scalable to thousands of miners. The pool has been running for a week in open beta in a 0-100 configuration: http://78.47.51.95:8080/. You are free to join it, test it and provide feedback – be aware that no issues have been reported so far but there are no warranties. This is your chance to make the future of Burst pooling better!

  • Sooner this week, the PoC Consortium officialy stated that ac0v and two other developers suffered a car crash. They were not severely injured, but they have to remain at the hospital for a few days. The PoC Consortium expects no serious impact to the development of Burst – GitHub activity (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin) is evidently unhindered and the PoCC upholds the 2.0.0 release date for the end of January.

This has been another busy week for the Proof of Capacity Consortium as they get ready to release version 2.0.0 of the Burst software. We are in the beginning process of the Dymaxion and hopefully everyone of you will join us and witness greatness borne.

If all you care about is making some money then it wont be a bad idea to buy Burst either lol.

Weekly Burst Report #19 – 01/14/2018 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/01/15/weekly-burst-report-19-01-14-2018/)

  • Developers have been extremely busy working on the core wallet and other technical things – this is why there have not been many public announcements this week. The core version 2.0.0 is to be expected soon (end of January) and things are looking promising so far, as indicated by the high GitHub activity (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium).

  • The PoC Consortium developers had a hackathon this weekend in preparation to the 2.0.0 core version. It was “very productive, with lots of bug fixes, removed cruft, code changes and insight”, according to rico666. Some of that insight should be unveiled next week, but the general sentiment among developers is that there is a lot that can be done and improved on-chain and pre-Dymaxion, in particular in the DB area.

  • We can see that some PoC2-related code (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/pull/67) has been merged into the core master branch. This is happening!

  • In addition to that, @Brabantian introduced some automated tests and plans to add many more in the future. He has been doing a lot of refactoring to the tested code, as you can see in the recent commits (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/commits/master).

  • I am very pleased to announce that ac0v is finally out of the hospital and back in action, as some could see in the Burst Discord today. He was involved in a car crash more than a week ago. Yet, we could get some positive things out of this very unfortunate event: the PoC Consortium has enough resources to not be slowed down by such unexpected situations. The community is happy to welcome you back ac0v.

  • The PoC Consortium released two new mining pools running on their new pool software. Written in Go, they allow a much better scalability and stability. The software will be open source and available to every pool operator by the end of january.

  • One runs on a 0-100 configuration: 0-100-pool.burst.cryptoguru.org
The other runs on a 100-0 configuration: 100-0-pool.burst.cryptoguru.org

  • Version 1.9 of Qbundle was released. You can read the full changelog and download it on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/Qbundle/releases). If you are already a Qbundle user, just click “File” -> “Check for update” -> “Download updates”.

  • The Android wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.icewave.burstcoinwallet) has been updated to version 0.2.1. Changelog includes a decreased startup time, Czech translation and bug fixes.

Looking at the market value of Burst in coinmarketcap.com, its in a pathetic market value of only $90,378,679. Thats under $100,000,000! This is a good display of either how inefficient this market is, or how inefficient the flow of information is.

Weekly Burst Report #20 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/01/22/weekly-burst-report-20/)

  • Development of the 2.0.0 version is still going strong, as you can see by looking at the numerous GitHub commits (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/commits/master). The new wallet should be considerably more reliable and high-quality, as it is being basically rebuilt from the ground up.

  • What the PoC Consortium developers are currently doing is a lot of bugfixing and stabilization, and a config file revamp and merging. Brabantian is working on implementing unit tests, with a current coverage of 7.4% compared to the 0% we had less than two weeks ago.

  • PoC2 support is also being implemented (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/commit/5ed2f6d4277b2b692ef53ea2da33672f078ddf6c) by Quibus: in short he added support for PoC2 plotfiles that can be activated at a given block height. According to rico666, “blocks have been already mined with PoC2 on the testnet”. PoC2 is implemented to counter a potential attack allowing malicious miners to mine certain scoops with PoW and very little disk space. While this attack vector is only theoretical at this point, the PoC Consortium believes we have to fix it to give more credibility to Burst’s consensus algorithm. PoC2 will be backward compatible with the current PoC1 as long as the mining software understands both fileformats.
    https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Capture-700x419.png

  • A new infographic has been published, explaining how the Burst capabilities will evolve in 2018, after all the necessary hard forks (http://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/01/03/the-burst-core-roadmap-for-2018/):
    https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/BurstEvolutionTable2-700x532.png

  • In the meantime, we are noticing a strong and growing community support for the Dymaxion: the network observer (https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/tool/observe) shows that 74.6% of nodes run the 1.3.6cg wallet at the time of this report. This is a very encouraging signal, but we have to do even better. If you are still using 1.2.9 or older, make sure to update to the latest version (https://www.burst-coin.org/download-wallet). Follow this step-by-step tutorial (https://www.burst-coin.org/running-a-full-node) if you want to run a full node to support the network.

  • On the non-wallet front the PoC Consortium pools are being battle-tested in real life. A few bugs were fixed but overall it is going in the right direction. “From our experience the new Go code is around 5x as fast as the lexicon pool, and it scales better on multi-CPU systems. It seems also faster than the Ninja Pool code, but we are missing hard numbers on that still”, according to rico666.

  • The well-known Hackernoon blog reposted an article about Burst (https://hackernoon.com/burst-part-3-proof-of-capacity-the-green-alternative-8e2651211671) by Andrew Scott.

It's probably partially because of bitcoin dropping in value since its ATH. Investors get scared when bitcoin drops. When it starts rising again they will buy back into burst (and take a haircut from selling low then buying high).

Thats only a small part of it, because if the general altcoin community saw how big the Dymaxion is, I dont think the price of Burst would still be this low. I think it should be over BTC.00001 by now. But theres time.

Burst 2.0.0 will be released by the first week of February. By then, I hope the percentage of nodes signalling for Dymaxion will be on 85%.

Here is the latest breakdown of Burst's node statistics. Everything is looking better and better ever since rico666 and the Proof of Capacity Consortium took over in developing Burst.

I am more excited in the developments they are making in Proof of Capacity as a sustainable alternative to PoW, if you ask me. I think thats where the future is.

Burst Node statistics (https://infogram.com/current-node-statistics-on-burst-nodes-1hnq41q07dop63z)

  • Current wallet distribution

The contribution of 1.3.6cg nodes is growing steadily. Every day the raw amount of 1.3.6cg nodes is climbing, while the number of older and deprecated 1.2.9 nodes is slowly declining.

  • Dymaxion compatible nodes

You may think that the 1.3.6cg nodes are the only ones capable of supporting the Dymaxion. While this is the recommended version you should be running to signal for the Dymaxion, older 1.3.x versions of the wallet also support the Dymaxion, creating an even more promising total figure. When combined, the total percentage of Dymaxion supporting nodes comes to 81,5%.

  • Current node health

Since the amount of nodes is growing fast, it is good to see that the number of stuck nodes is not rising along with it. Even better, since people are updating their wallets, the amount of stuck nodes is declining!

  • Which nodes are stuck

Of the total of 376 nodes that are running publicly at the moment, 39 are stuck and 9 are resyncing. It is interesting to see that only 2 nodes running 1.3.6cg with mariaDB are resyncing, with 0 actually stuck. 13 nodes running 1.3.6cg with other DBs are stuck or resyncing, but  all the other nodes (33) are running non-dymaxion/PoCC wallets. Keeping in mind they have much smaller numbers, we can conclude that the PoCC wallets are becoming much more stable! And it will only get better!

  • Conclusion

The future is also looking bright for the Dymaxion. Numbers of Dymaxion supporting nodes are increasing on a daily basis. With the added stability of the newer wallets, we expect the number of older nodes to slowly decrease further. Almost all newcomers to burst are starting with 1.3.6cg straight away, increasing those numbers as well. The Dymaxion is creeping closer and closer. We have a very exciting future ahead of us!

Another good week for Burst's development. The PoCC is increasing the pace to have Burst 2.0.0 released, hopefully within a week. But of course, with thorough testing and bug hunting.

I am looking at the price right now and its still in a lowly $.05 per Burst lol. Its very undervalued right now. I am not encouraging anyone to buy. I encourage you to bookmark this post and lets look at it again on December 31, 2018.  :-*

Weekly Burst Report #21 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/01/29/weekly-burst-report-21/)

  • The PoC Consortium developers are working harder than ever to be able to release the 2.0.0 wallet in time. This version should be considerably more stable and reliable than every other versions before it – this is the strong foundation that we need before expanding with the Dymaxion and other features described in the white paper.

  • 2.0.0 is going to be released “within a week”, according to rico666. We are getting there!

  • As you can see in GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin), wallet development activity is virtually twice the one of last week. We are getting closer everyday to the symbolic 1000th comit (currently 946 commits, at the time of this article).

  • We now exceed 10% coverage for unit tests.

  • The amount of people (https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/tool/observe) supporting the Dymaxion by running a full 1.3.6cg node is steadily increasing: over 78% of nodes are using this version! See this infographic (https://infogram.com/current-node-statistics-on-burst-nodes-1hnq41q07dop63z) by @Bombtrack for more details. The community is clearly voicing its opinion – however we need to be as close to a consensus as possible so don’t forget do update your wallet if you have not already. Greetings my fellow forumites. I havent updated this thread because of the lack of motivation and laziness lol. But this week I think the thread deserves to be updated and to keep some of you Bursters aware of the latest news and developments.

If you want to read the missed updates you can read them here (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/02/05/weekly-burst-report-22/), here (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/02/12/weekly-burst-report-23/) and here (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/02/19/weekly-burst-report-24/).

Weekly Burst Report #25 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/02/26/weekly-burst-report-25/)

We are getting close to the release of 2.0.0. Major development steps were taken this week.

  • You might have noticed a new “database manager” repository in the PoC Consortium GitHub. With 2.0.0, the core wallet will support H2 (with significant performance improvements), mariaDB and mysql databases by default. In addition to that, the wallet will be able to handle any other database, thanks to the use of jooq and the database manager. “We are doing this to go for a new versioning of the databases and to avoid having the wallet bloated with db drivers”, explains PoC Consortium developer ac0v. New databases support will greatly increase Burst’s flexibility in many applications.

  • Developers are currently focusing on the initial syncing performances, and “it looks quite good”, in their own words. A lot of time and energy was spent on the syncing process; it is very encouraging to see it is starting to pay off.

  • The milestone page shows encouraging progress. Developers are confident that the remaining tasks can be completed in a short time frame. Obviously, being one of the highest ranked crypto project in terms of commit history helps.

The PoC Consortium made a binary release of the new pool code.

  • Any pool operator can now test this fast and scalable implementation written in Golang, easily capable of supporting thousands of miners.

  • Major upgrades were pushed to the pool code as well. Without going too deep into technical details, we now have SSE4 + AVX2 support which allows validation of 8 / 4 deadlines in parallel on a single core, a gRPC API, a new compensation system for fast blocks, PoC2 support and lots of simulations were done to optimize the whole share algorithm.

  • In addition to that, The Burstcoinist will soon release an interview of @bold and @Herscht, the minds behind the pool software, where they are going share their insight on development.

Looking back a 9 months ago, Burst was written off as a dying project. Today its infrastructure is more complete and stable than ever before and has a bigger community it ever had since 2014.

Burst is easily one of the most undervalued cryptocurrencies in the market at present. If some of you are trying to find a nice long term investment. This is it. Burst.

Weekly Burst Report #26 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/03/05/weekly-burst-report-26/)

  • Concerning the BRS 2.0.0 core version:

Development continues unhindered and the release date finally seems close. “The PoCC has set March 15th as a viable and realistic release date for BRS 2.0.0. However, should some unforeseen complications arise, quality goes over release dates”, states PoC Consortium developer rico666. Brabantian – another core developer – explained that the delay is mainly caused by a “serious scope change”. He explains: “lots of new ideas came up on how we could further improve the wallet from a technical perspective, and that’s what we’re doing right now.” Meanwhile, there is ongoing daily development and technical quality improvements.

As of now there is 20% of the code being automatically unit tested and integration tested. Brabantian further explained: “My projection is that number will heavily increase when moving toward BRS 2.2.0 because there will be a heavier focus on making the integration testing easier.”

More generally, if you are interested I suggest you to read the last few weekly reports to get a wide overview of the changes that will be introduced by 2.0.0. The fundamental thing to know is that not a single line of code is left untouched – this is going to be the greatest code revamp in Burst’s history.

  • The PoC Consortium released the source code of its “all-new, fabulous, hyper-efficient, scalable and robust” pool software. It is now available for any pool-operator who does support The Burst Dymaxion. A great news, as it should help enhance the scalability and reliability of the network as a whole.

In addition to that, a new feature is included: Dynamic payouts. Miners can now send messages to the pool account to change their payment thresholds/intervals (daily, weekly, monthly or at any chosen amount). Have a look at the pool documentation here for a more thorough explanation.

The interview of Herscht and bold, the two PoC Consortium developers in charge of the pool software will be published this week on The Burstcoinist.

  • cg_obup, the Optimized Burst Unix Plotter has been updated. New features and usability improvements are included and it now offers MacOS compatibility. Download it on GitHub.

  • If you don’t understand what PoC2 is exactly, or why we need it, this new “PoC2 explained” article is just for you. It explains the flaw of the current PoC consensus protocol and the implementation process of PoC2. The next step towards the new Burst!

  • Burst is now listed on a new exchange: Indacoin, where it can be bought directly with Visa or MasterCard (EUR, USD and RUB pairings). Indacoin seems to be unavailable for US residents. The full list of Burst exchanges can always be found here.

Put one eye on March 15 for Burst's latest update. It will be the rebirth of the platform as a real competitor against other platforms like NEO.

By the time the Dymaxion is officially released by version 2.2.0 in the 2nd quarter of this year, you will fully see the potential of Burst not as a cryptocurrency, but as a channel for IOT.

Weekly Burst Report #27 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/03/12/weekly-burst-report-27/)

  • We are finally in the final stages of BRS 2.0.0 core version development. “We are confident for a release on March 15th”, confirms PoC Consortium developer rico666. As the final tasks (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/milestone/1) are currently being worked on, the PoC Consortium is happy to be able to provide the community with this new software. Starting from next week, Burst will have a completely refactored core wallet worthy of being the foundation upon which the Dymaxion will be built.

  • Please take in consideration that the quicker the 2.0.0 version is going to be adopted by the community, the sooner the upcoming forks will happen – don’t forget to update your wallet next week!
The release of BRS 2.0.0 will be a great step for Burst, but it is only the beginning of the process. Expect many more improvements in the following months. As rico666 jests: “now the only question is how fast a BRS 2.0.1 will follow!”

  • We now have a functional PoC1 to PoC2 plot converter (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/Utilities/tree/master/poc1to2.pl) for Linux/Unix (probably working with MacOS too). The converter can do both in-place (remaining on the same plot) as well as copy on write (from disk A to disk B). “As predicted it’s IO intensive, not CPU intensive. One CPU core can easily convert 5 disks in parallel”, according to rico666. This software is currently only there for testing, and as reference for other implementations – do not start converting your plots now, because mining softwares cannot interpret them yet.

  • Blackpawn released the beta 2 version of his TurboPlotter (https://blackpawn.com/tp/), the “fastest and easiest way to plot drives for Burst mining”. It includes many new features: support for resuming, end of plotting summary screen, scrolling GPU and drive lists, bug fixes and minor improvements.

  • The Burstcoinist released a new interview with bold and Herscht (http://=https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/03/07/meet-a-developer-3-an-interview-with-bold-and-herscht/), the two minds behind the PoC Consortium’s pool software. Learn more about them and their projects in this exclusive “behind the scenes” sneak peek!

I know some Burst holders are worried in the falling price. Some of them in /r/burstcoin are calling for marketing efforts to be done by the PoCC. This is wrong. As a community and as investors, we should be doing our part in making Burst known.

But knowing all the updates and the work being done. I am very confident that Burst will be in the top 20 in market value on 2018 or 2019.

Weekly Burst Report #28 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/03/19/weekly-burst-report-28/)

  • The BRS 2.0.0 core wallet is finally released! You can download it on GitHub. I also recommend everyone to read the official release statement (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/03/15/the-poc-consortium-releases-core-wallet-v2-0-0/) by the PoC Consortium. The 2.0.0 version is the foundation of the upcoming forks, a complete refactoring of the core wallet – not a single line of code was left untouched.

    • Because of the magnitude of this task, it appears that 2.0.0 still has a few issues and bugs here and there that are going to be fixed in the very near future with a 2.0.1 release. The 2.0.X line will continue to receive security updates and bugfixes should they become necessary until the next major version arrives.

    • The PoC Consortium anticipated this situation and actually asked the community to transition gradually to the new version in the release statement. “Let’s see how this new bird behaves in the wild, how it behaves when there are more and more of them.” The PoC Consortium insists that pool operators should not update yet.

    • Qbundle users need to wait a little more to have their one-click upgrade to 2.0.0 – it will be available very soon. It will mark the beginning of the main transition phase for the community.

    • The next major version is already underway : “the first commits on 2.1.0 (now the master branch) poured in, so we are on the way to 2.2.0” explains PoC Consortium rico666. 2.2.0 will be the pre-Dymaxion hard fork including PoC2 and dynamic fees & block size.

  • Two new pools are now using the PoC Consortium pool software: http://bibenwei.com:8081/ and http://burstcoin.ml/.
    https://images-ext-2.discordapp.net/external/zk2zCY9jekfNbvhOeG62B7KV6099ImFbXy4b2VfjaNQ/https/cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/396023055610281997/425021187383361536/PoolsAktuell.png

  • A few exclusive details (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/841xn0/cost_for_at_instructionssmart_contract_execution/dvm8ymr/) concerning Automated Transactions development: “as part of the 2nd hard fork (BRS 2.4.0) are some modifications/extensions/upgrades to the AT system in order. Multi-Out tx types are also on the agenda, because both these are a prerequisite for powerful ACTTs and clearing”, according to rico666.

Thanks for it! In a process of reading

Ty. Please tell your friends about the project and you can also visit /r/burstcoin on Reddit if you have some questions. The community is growing faster than ever before with around 6200 members now. Thats 3 times more than last year!

Anyhow heres another weekly update.

Weekly Burst Report #29 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/03/26/weekly-burst-report-29/)

  • When the PoC Consortium released the BRS 2.0.0 core version last week, it was made clear right away that there could be a few remaining bugs due to the magnitude of the code refactoring. The developers worked hard this week to eliminate most reported issues – “we would like to thank all the early adopters who supported development by testing 2.0.0”, states PoC Consortium member rico666.

    • The BRS 2.0.1 core version is now out, and it offers better performance, stability and security compared to any release so far. This version is thought for a broader audience, but still not as backend for pools – pool operators should wait for the next version before updating.

    • The PoC Consortium confirmed that Qbundle v2.0 is going to be released this Monday. It will be based on BRS 2.0.1 and it will allow the majority of users to upgrade to the latest version with one click.

    • We can also expect a BRS 2.0.2 core version before the first fork.

  • The bigger picture – a PoC Consortium developer’s interesting insight on the future Burst Dymaxion use cases:
    https://www.burstcoin.ist/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/DymaxionUseCases.jpg

  • BurstJack is still making progress on the Automated Transactions listing website (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/8671oq/at_smartcontracts_searchable/). All smart contracts are now imported from the Burst blockchain and searchable.

  • Have you ever wished you could have a truly unique and memorable Burst Address? With adrownedcoast’s Burst Vanity Address Generator written in Python, you can generate custom Burst addresses using the 4 leading characters of the address after “BURST”. Check it out on GitHub (https://github.com/beatsbears/burst-vanity-generator).

  • MinerGate published a great article (https://minergate.com/blog/why-proof-of-capacity-could-be-the-future-of-cryptocurrency/) on Burst’s consensus protocol: Why Proof-of-Capacity could be the future of cryptocurrency.

This is one of the "quieter" updates from the Burst community but you can see that everything is ready for a big burst, pun intended, up.

The PoCC is already setting the point on where the hard fork, or the let's call it the jump to the Dymaxion will start to happen.

If you dont follow Burst's development, its a good time to start now.

Weekly Burst Report #30 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/04/02/weekly-burst-report-30/)

  • At the end of last week the PoC Consortium released a 2.0.1 version of the core wallet. It was followed by the 2.0.2 version published this wednesday, but some remaining issues resulted in a high amount of stuck wallets. A 2.0.3 version was finally released this Sunday . “Several PoC Consortium members believe 2.0.3 is as stable as 1.3.6cg”, according to rico666. If this proves to be true in the coming week it would mark an important achievement for the development team and for Burst as a whole.

  • Qbundle has been updated numerous times – with v2.0.0, v2.0.1 and now v2.0.2, it finally includes the latest core wallet version and most known bugs are now fixed. These releases were particularly important for the network, because they enabled the UPnP feature within Qbundle to configure your wallet as a full node in a few clicks. As a result, the number of full nodes almost tripled in just a week and now exceeds 950 (https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/tool/observe). This is a great news, as the Burst network is growing more decentralized, thus more secure than ever. It also shows that we have a very active community.

  • Core version 2.2.0 is still in the works. “Developers are currently focused on unconfirmed transaction handling, which would improve scalability and make things easier in general”, explains PoC Consortium developer ac0v. All in all, simplification and optimization of the code is not finished yet and will also be part of the first upcoming hard fork. You can always refer to the milestones system (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/milestone/2) to check development advancements.

  • rico666 wrote a little reminder (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/87imge/guys_dont_forget_the_testnet/) about the Burst testnet. It has been overlooked lately, but it is a great way to learn about Burst features without risking to lose any real money.

  • In an effort to give community members the opportunity to actively contribute to the increased adoption of Burstcoin, a newly formed community-driven marketing group called Burstcoin Guerilla Marketing (BGM) was created this week and held their first organizational meeting today. Their mission is to engage with the wider crypto-sphere through a number of different media to spread awareness of Proof of Capacity, Burstcoin, and the exciting future it has with the upcoming Dymaxion hardforks. Marketing is just storytelling through different forms, and they are interested in finding innovative ways to tell that story to as many people as possible. If you have a knack for storytelling, animation, writing, social media, presenting, or any of a number of other critical marketing skills, the BGM would be excited to have you join their ranks. If you are interested, contact @BurstGorilla through twitter, hop in their discord at https://discord.gg/R5JnSQX, or send over an email to burst.guerilla.marketing@gmail.com.” – An introductory statement by @tiptopanonymous, main organizer of BGM.

  • The first organizational meeting that happened a few hours ago was an “overwhelming success” and augured great things for the future of BGM. We are still in the organization phase, but the first steps are already actively being taken by many community members.

  • Don’t forget to follow the @BurstGorilla twitter account to keep up with all the exciting Burst news. Expect many announcements in the coming days and weeks!

  • LinusTechTips made a video (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/87lhw5/ltt_burst_mining_video_is_up/) dedicated to Burst mining on their channel of 5.5 million subscribers!

  • The end of BurstNation: rico666 addressed the “controversy” in a long reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/877m87/burstnation_in_walking_ghost_phase/).

  • We have a new chart (https://explore.burst.cryptoguru.org/chart/transaction/electricity_consumption) on the Burst explorer! It shows the evolution of the estimated energy cost of a single Burst transaction. It is especially interesting when compared to Bitcoin’s energy consumption (https://digiconomist.net/bitcoin-energy-consumption).

Yeah. You can also see that /r/burstcoin is growing faster than it has ever been. In the first 3 years, it has 2000 subscribers but in a few months since the PoCC came in last July, the subscribers are now over 6000. I am very very positive that Burst will go higher than NXT in market value.

What does the NXT community think of Burst?

The source code of the PoC_Consortium Android BURST wallet is set to be released in the next 24 hours!

The PoC Consortium is thrilled to take yet another major step forward in terms of transparency and decentralization. We are going to release the entire source code of our Android mobile wallet on GitHub in the next 24 hours.

We believe this news to be an important milestone, bringing many advantages: first, we want to affirm the legitimacy of the application by enabling anybody to examine the code - the paranoids will be even able to compile it themselves. Moreover, it will allow people to directly collaborate and send us pull requests on GitHub for features to be included.

While we are happy to bring full disclosure, we also want to warn the Burst community that it will be easier to make copycats and scam applications that would look similar to our official wallet. If these ever appear, we trust the community will help us to identify and take them down quickly before any harm could be done. Yet, as always, we would like to remind everyone to exercise extreme caution when handling their funds and rely only on trusted sources.

We are looking forward to bringing you more exciting news and development.

Thanks for the back up. Its good to know someone other than me is supporting Burst in Bitcointalk lol. I have been banned by a mod in /r/burstcoin for asking the hard questions, so I show my support more in here. But I feel so alone sometimes.

I hope the Burst holders would be more vocal.

Development

Core wallet development statistics since last week:
– Files modified: 40
– New insertions (+): 3,787
– New deletions (-): 3,649

Development of the core wallet is still advancing roughly as planned.
The multiple releases post-2.0.0 are finally paying off. Before 2.0.4, a lot of wallets were regularly getting stuck, but with the latest version the network is looking much healthier again. We recommend everyone using a 2.0.x wallet to upgrade to 2.0.4.
We are getting close to 1,000 public nodes – which is an incredible increase compared to only a month ago.
The source code of the PoC Consortium mobile wallet has been released on GitHub (Android & iOS), with an official release statement by the developers: “we want to affirm the legitimacy of the application by enabling anybody to examine the code […]. It will allow people to directly collaborate and send us pull requests on GitHub for features to be included.”
The first PoC3 prototype is available on GitHub! This little tool provides (or will provide) the basic PoC3 functionality:
       - create a synthetic/artificial PoC3 base plotfile (pre-individualization)
       - individualize an arbitrary (correctly padded) file into a PoC3 plot bound to a certain numericId
       - de-individualize PoC3 -> base file
       - perform mining on PoC3 (partially implemented/simulation only)

Market report

The market report is back! Please keep in mind that it shouldn’t be interpreted as any form of trading recommendation or advice. The data might be a tiny bit outdated.

– Weekly (7th-13th April UTC) trade volume / change: $5,488,073 / +78%
– Weekly High / Low: $0.021 / $0.013 USD
– Weekly blockchain transaction volume / change: 31,924 / -2.5%
– Market Capitalisation / weekly change: $36,113,000 / +35%

http://ipic.su/img/img7/tn/burst1.1523849836.jpg (http://ipic.su/img/img7/fs/burst1.1523849836.jpg)

Recent (6+ month) price action is dominated by the high at the start of the year that correlates with the Bitcoin high. Since then we have experienced a general downtrend often pausing / consolidating near key fibonacci levels. Around the start of April we have formed a recent bottom and bounced off the support around 208 Sats.
As well as price, trading volume is a useful confirmation tool. During the mid December rally the increase in volume clearly supported the significant price movement. Current volumes remain low in comparison, so the strength of the current uptrend has yet to be confirmed.
Analysis by @Koru

Websites

The burst-coin.org revamping is progressing very well and should be published within two weeks.

Other

The crowdfund of 50,000 burstcoins for the BNFT app is complete! See the plan for integration with dates here. pskrzyni81, the organizer of this endeavour, still has many other plans for Burst: he wants to have abc7 news to talk about it.
Lately we have seen some concern about quantum computers threatening cryptocurrencies. When asked about that, PoC Consortium developer rico666’s answer was straight-forward:

The We Are Burstcoin blogpost is now live! weareburstcoin.blogspot.co.uk
A new episode of the Harvey Harddrive comic: Gorilla Marketing.

Conclusion

There isn’t much to say about this week, because everyone has found their occupation and are simply busy working on their Burst projects: development, marketing, graphic design… I am glad to see everyone coming together and working hand in hand as a community – this attitude will pay off!

How many altcoins have more than 1000 nodes being run by their users? I think only a few of them.

Can anyone share a webpage showing the number of nodes running behind each cryptocurrency? Ty.

With that said, it would be a big milestone for Burst to have more than 1000 nodes. Only last July, many considered it dead. Today, its growth and development is one of the fastest for a coin that has no ICO.

I dont believe you. But post your proof of the many complaints and criticism from users that you "saw", and from what exchange were you sending your Bursts.

The Burst project is in its strongest state since the genesis block. 1000 nodes is a milestone and Burst will reach it this year. Altcoins that have 1000 nodes run by real users is a rarity.

Development

We can “expect not to have many news from the PoC Consortium this week and the next”, according to rico666. Since the core version 2.0.4 appears to be stable (we have now almost 700 stable public nodes), developers now direct their attention on many Burst projects, both public and private. So we are entering a little less glamorous period of coding and research.
We can “expect more news after the PoC Consortium hackathon” that will take place from April 27th to April 30th.
Still, we have some minor news for this week:
    The PoC3 prototype is finished.
The PoC Consortium 50-50 pool has been moved to new, faster hardware to handle the flow of miners. It is currently the biggest Burst pool in terms of terabytes.
Some fixes and enhancements have been made to the Blockchain Explorer (searching for IPv6 nodes now works).

Websites

Burst-coin.org has been entirely revamped! We are very pleased with the positive feeback received from the community. The overhaul includes:
Complete redesign to better fit with the Burst theme and values
Reorganization and simplification of the menu & pages
Better integration of all the latest PoC Consortium developments and proposals
Storagemining.io, the first ever cloud mining service specialized in Burst mining, is going to be launched on April 29th.
The Burst community is launching a few blogs, such as weareburstcoin or minesomeburst.com. Minesomeburst.com also offers a mining calculator with interesting additional data.

Other

Vote for Burst on getadcoin.com so we can win Burst ads! Burst is currently ranked #3.
A new episode of the Harvey Harddrive comic: Happy 420!
The April meme competition is still running – but there isn’t much time left to participate!
Bitcoin Ore (the Bitcoin fork with PoC mining) recently released a wallet. While this is not directly related to Burst, I would like to take this opportunity to remind the Burst community to NOT download this software for obvious security reasons (extremely shady project) – see this reddit discussion.

Conclusion

Another week and another batch of exciting news. The burst-coin.org revamp has been an important operation: it is generally our first contact point with beginners and we had to offer something that better represented our values and ideas. With this new website and the development that is going on, we believe to be in the right track and we look forward to seeing the community grow further.

The symptoms of a price burst, pun intended lol, are falling into place. Increased mining capacity, increasing number of nodes, increasing members in the community and from the weekend's hackathon, meet up and planned future conferences will take place.

Good update Vermalen. Ty for taking the time and helping me.

I cannot be as happy as I am today about the new development updates on Burst. It is becoming a better cryptocurrency project everyday thanks to the efforts done by the developers of PoCC.

If the hard fork is not supported by the WHOLE community and failes, then I dont know what can help this project.

Weekly Burst Report #34 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/04/30/weekly-burst-report-34/)

The PoC Consortium is currently having a hackathon, and in the words of rico666: “it is going way better than expected. All things we wanted to do – without exception – went smoother than everybody expected.” In consequence, this week’s report is going to be quite substantial, with a lot of very good news.

  • Tx Capacity increase: the code includes the increase to 1020 transactions per block. This was expected to go smooth as it is basically a primitive change: raising a constant. Most of the work was testing that the wallet code can handle it. This change brings the 4x capacity increase.

  • Dynamic Fees: the change for sub-1 Burst fees was expected to be problematic as it touches deep internals of Burst transaction processing. Fortunately, changes made recently to the Burst transactions handling allowed to implement the slot-fee-based dynamic fee handling rather smoothly. As the fees are progressive they allow exactly what was predicted in the white paper: microtransactions, regular transactions and high-price transactions (emergency/high-prio transactions that have to be in the block “at all cost”) to happen all side-by-side in the blockchain.

  • Multi-Out Transactions: Multi-Out are transactions where you can send Burst to N recipients in just one operation – it is ideal for pools, faucets, and later for clearing closure of Dymaxion Layers, etc. The PoC Consortium thought it would be really great to have them but the developers did not expect to make it happen. But because all the other things went so smooth, they addressed it too. And guess what: It also went smooth. You will be able to send individual amounts to up to 64 recipients in just one transaction.

    • This one single transaction will not cost you more than an ordinary transaction, which – because of the Dynamic Fees – can cost you as low as 0.00735 BURST.  In theory, you could send money to 64 accounts for 0.00735 BURST (if you got the cheapest slot).

    • This multi-out transactions are far more efficient on Blockchain storage requirements. For each recipient it takes up only 16 bytes instead of 176 bytes – a factor of 11.

    • Together, these things multiply themselves. In the ideal case, we will now be able to send roughly 150 multi-out transactions per block, each with 64 recipients, so around 9600 transactions per block. 40 transactions per second. Burst on-chain tx capacity is getting really serious!

“In short, what happened in the past 2 days got me really thrilled for the Burst future, because it’s looking even better than I imagined”, concludes rico666. Icing on the cake: we are also now exceeding 2000 commits on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin)! We can expect to have a date for the first hard fork soon.

Apart from the hackathon news, there are a few other things that have been done this week:

  • The TestNet will play a more important role in Burst Development as we must be able to test the wallet much more rigorously before any hard fork release:

    • New 2.x wallets will run on a new domain https://wallet.dev.burst-test.net/

    • The TestNet will also have its own block explorer https://explore.dev.burst-test.net/

Keep in mind that the TestNet (or Development TestNet – see the “dev”) is to be expected to run less stable, be down from time to time and to contain more “bleeding edge” features… or not. In other words: no hopes/expectations. Provided “as is”.

  • While we can expect a complete wallet frontend revamp in a few months, there is some work (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/issues/197) being done to improve and modernize the current one in the meantime.

The first hard fork is scheduled for block 500,000, roughly 6 weeks from now.
 It will enable:
 - PoC2
 - Dynamic fees
 - 4x more transactions per block
 - Multi-out transactions (up to 64 recipients per transaction)

BURST on-chain tx capacity would boost up to 40 tx/s.
With brand new type of Multi-Out Transactions, one tx can send up to 128 recipients the same amount - effectively increasing the upper limit to 80 tx/s.

Vermalen's update is much appreciated but I would like to add more details in this week's Burst weekly report (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/05/21/weekly-burst-report-37/).

The project is undergoing one of the most important milestones and I hope some of you would join us in support of what will be one of the greatest developments in cryptocurrency history. The Dymaxion (https://www.burst-coin.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/The-Burst-Dymaxion-1.00.pdf).

  • In preparation of the pre-Dymaxion hard fork planned for block 500,000, testing of the wallet is going well. PoC Consortium developers rico666 explains: “so far it looks like the core is stable, but the UI needs more polishing. This is not a real showstopper though.”

  • PoC1 to PoC2 switch testing still needs more time – it has highest priority now.

  • The PoC Consortium started to replace all its 1.3.6cg wallets with BRS 2.0.4 (pool backends, public nodes…). The pools have been running stable and winning blocks with the latest version. We also have positive reports from 3rd parties who have done so for over a week without problems.

    • The PoC Consortium therefore suggests all 1.3.6cg pool operators do the upgrade. In the near future, upgrading from BRS 2.0.4 to BRS 2.2.0 is going to be quite easy so by upgrading from 1.3.6cg (or lower) to 2.0.4 you are doing most of the work upfront.

    • This also means the 1.2.9 lifelines are being cut now. As a reminder, 1.3.6cg public nodes are the only bridge between newer versions and the old 1.2.9 version. With the decrease in number of 1.3.6cg nodes, it can be expected that 1.2.9 wallets will be dysfunctional even before the hard fork – which is intentional to ensure a smooth fork and a more reliable network.

Next steps for Burst, explorer & Android wallet updates, community champions, paper wallets, and more!

Development
•The PoC Consortium pre-announced it last week: the post-hard-fork statement has been released on The Burstcoinist! In this article titled The Economy of Scale: Next Steps For Burst, the PoCC presents the “next steps” for Burst and its ecosystem. We highly recommend reading the entire write-up as it is an important piece for the second half of 2018. Here is a summary in a few words: ◦Since the successful hard-fork, Burst is a much bigger and better coin. We now have the technological abilities to compete with most top crypto projects. Hence, our problem isn’t the technology, it is us – the community.
◦The time when “the PoCC should do everything” has come to an end. The community needs to be professionally organized: teams need to be built, driven by “champions” who can build up and lead (take responsibilities), while sharing a common goal. It has already started (see below in the report).
◦Our growth needs to be an incremental process, and it needs to be done right to be sustainable (avoid dilution).
◦The PoC Consortium will continue working on core/wallet development and leading Burst from a strategic/ideologic standpoint. You will probably spot a Burst Dymaxion Daemon in 2018, but no warranties. Right now, they will focus on market adoption: merchants, ATMs, payment gateways etc. They want to ensure that all the new technical capabilities are used to their full extent before enabling the Dymaxion on MainNet.

•The Android Burst wallet has been updated. Changes include: decreased startup time, hard-fork adjustments (mainly dynamic transaction fees) and a new Japanese translation.
•The explorer got some updates: ◦There is a new “report bug” function, two new sections on the sidebar (Marketplace and Automated Transactions), and a few additional minor changes.
◦The PoC Consortium is working on a “reference faucet”, that will be a service on the explorer page. The goal is to provide a more effective way for new users to get started.

•We now have a Burst paper wallet generator, the perfect tool to create a secure HODL account. It will be directly included in the next Qbundle release.

Community efforts
•The search for “Champions” as mentioned above has commenced. Good news: we already have two of them. One for App Team, and one for Support Team. They will probably announce it to the public soon, but if you are used to the Burst community you know them well already!
•We are looking for people willing to take responsibility for the other teams mentioned: GUI / PACKAGING / TESTING / EVANGELISTS. Contact the PoC Consortium on Discord if you want to take the initiative.
•A “Burst Who’s who” page as well as the “Global Burst TODO” page will be posted soon on the Burst Wiki. The global TODO is intended to be a one-stop overview on what needs work/volunteers right now. The who’s who will be a broader overview of whom to talk to in the Burst community if you need something. It is basically meant to be an entry point to the teams.
•There is a Burst Reddit competition to promote user growth gowing on. Join the debate and you may win the prize!

PaperBurst v.1.0, the BURST wallet paper generator has been released with cool new features. Will be integrated to the next release of Qbundle!

You heard the PoCC. If there are Burst holders and users in the forum, we need to start organizing on our own to promote Burst. The PoCC cant do it by themselves. If you want success, do the work. If you refuse, you can wait quietly or sell your Bursts. Its your decision.

Its not so good to witness that nothing big has changed in Burst's market value and usage since the preDymaxion hard fork. I have made predictions that were wrong and I must admit that they were done under the feeling of too much enthusiasm. I will control myself next time. Sorry. But Burst's development is still going forward.

Weekly Burst Report #42 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/07/02/weekly-burst-report-42/)

New developers are joining the PoCC!

  • Brabantian is a professional software engineer and solution architect who has been working on the core wallet for months and who has proven to be very dedicated and gifted in Java development.

  • Umbrellacorp03 is a Polytechnic student and project manager. He has taken care of many diverse tasks since he joined Burst, from documentation enhancement, to marketing and softwares (Burst paper wallet generator).

Helping Burst newbs equiping with their first Bursts and the new private chains development!

  • As you saw, the PoC Consortium talks of equiping everyone with their first Burst. And indeed, the developers are working on a new Burst faucet technology. Last week we saw that this “reference faucet” will soon be a service available on the Burst explorer page. Through the use of Multi-Out Transactions and Dynamic transaction fees, the faucet will be able to serve fractions of a Burst to thousands of people at very low cost – allowing them to validate their first account and make a few other transactions. One could even imagine future Burst airdrop systems based on this.

  • PoC Consortium developer Brabantian is now working on optimisations on the network level to further support the distributed system our network of Burst wallets form. He is now having a deep look at the functionning of unconfirmed transactions.

  • BurstJack has leaked some news on a groundbreaking Burst project: Private Chains (https://reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/8utyab/private_chains/).

    • Here is an excerpt from the documentation (http://burst-marketplace.binary-dev.com/pchains/documentations/doc.php): “Private Chains concept is based on structured Burst Messages. A private chain is created with 2 ordinary Burst transactions sent to 2 different Pchains Accounts. One account serves as a chain creation account and accepts creation fees (50 Burst) from chain creators. The chain creator sets ticker (name) of chain and maximum number (cap) of tokens in chain. Upon creation, the creator is the owner of all tokens in that chain. The other account serves as transaction account which holds transactions for all chains, if not otherwise specified in chain creation for a particular chain. “Both creation-specification and chain-transactions in chain are sent the ordinary way as Burst messages to the 2 Pchains Accounts.

    • We should expect more information on Private Chains and use cases soon. This is a very clever use of the already existing Burst technologies, and a particularly promising project.

A new Weekly BURST Report is out
- BRS 2.2.2,
- BURST on generalbytes ATMs,
- fee suggestion feature, CIPs, and more!

Development

•As a lot of you must know, yesterday the network was stuck because of a bug that caused a fork and stuck wallets. The hiccup got resolved quickly and Burst got back on its feet. The bug responsible for this will be made public right after the release of the BRS 2.2.2 version by the PoC Consortium. It was a bug present in the NXT code base when the initial fork for Burst occured. ◦BRS 2.2.2 should come within a week give or take – most of that time is testing. The release will contain various fixes and also improvements, namely a Fee Suggestion feature developed by Brabantian and Almurik. This will automatically estimate the best fee based on current network conditions.
◦The PoC Consortium is communicating with Bittrex whose wallet also got stuck. It looks like they will be up and running again in no time (this is possibly already resolved at the time of this report).
◦If anything this incident should show that even in cases of unforeseen problems, Burst has a highly responsive team competent to deflect these kind of problems. The community as a whole has proven to be unified and very helpful.

•GeneralBytes added Burst support into their GitHub repository. It is now part of their code base. This is big news: GeneralBytes has 1800 ATMs in 53 countries. Icing on the cake, their ATMs are bi-directional (they allow buying and selling for 122 fiat currencies). As far as we know, they will push a server update by the end of the month, and the first ATMs with Burst support will show up.

•The Fee Suggestion support is also being worked on for the mobile wallet and will be integrated soon.
•Something is brewing behind the scenes. A few key CIPs (Capability Improvement Proposals) are being worked on. The full CIPs will be made public soon. ◦CIP 6: titled “Unconfirmed Tx Queue Optimizations” –  a way to purge Unconfirmed Transactions that have no chance of being included in a block.
◦CIP 7: titled “Differential Unconfirmed Tx Propagation” – a more intelligent approach of sending Unconfirmed Transactions to avoid network load.

•Engraver, the Burst reference plotter of the PoC Consortium for Linux/Unix has been released on GitHub. ◦Staying on the mining topic, we also have a new version of jminer (the GPU Burst miner), and a new version of JohnnyFFM’s BlagoMiner.

•On the less positive side: Quibus stopped working on Qbundle. The PoC Consortium responded with a statement. Most importantly, the PoCC “will make sure of a continuation and maintenance of this software.” At this moment Heos is looking into it, but additional maintainers alre always welcome (Visual Basic .NET). ◦A few people on Reddit used this news and tried to create some drama, spreading rumors that ac0v left the PoC Consortium. This is of course baseless and – needless to say – completely untrue.

Websites
•The CryptalDash exchange went live this week. Burst trading should be enabled soon.
•The PoCC Burst explorer was briefly down with the fork but is now working properly again.

Not an impressive update but we should move on. But at least Bittrex's wallet is online now after an undesirable bug's disruption. Anyhow, I would assume that Poloniex and the others' wallets are online now too.

So do I understand it right that the data is not on the miner's drives? It's some additional storage solution for small files only?

A switch to convert the miners into cloud storage (instead of the random data as it is now) was planned in the long term, no?

Get the latest news:

Development
•Core wallet BRS 2.2.2 “stabilizator” has been released. It includes a more advanced unconfirmed transactions handling. It also fixed four major bugs that concerned Automated Transactions, crowdfunding and unconfirmed transactions spamming. ◦CIP 6 & 7 have been included in the update. It uses a better way for 2.2.2 wallets to communicate unconfirmed transactions to each other, by using a sliding window mechanism instead of propagating all every time. It also ensures that the unconfirmed transaction store only keeps meaningful transactions, while dropping ones that won’t be able to be resolved within their deadline.
◦The PoC Consortium also added a fee suggestion, which basically suggests a number of different fees for a transaction. PoCC developer Brabantian recommends using standard or priority for any meaningful transaction.

•Qbundle v.2.5.0 has been released. It uses Chromium (significant increase in speed and security) and the latest BRS 2.2.2 wallet, among many other things. See the full changelog and download on GitHub.
•CloudBurst is a decentralized cloud storage app on the Burst blockchain. Launched yesterday, it leverages the blockchain and new features like Multi-Out Transactions to create a decentralized and trustless cloud storage system. Read this dedicated Burstcoinist article to learn more.
•Pchains is another decentralized application based on the Burst blockchain. It is a Private Chains concept based on structured Burst Messages, that allows easily creating side chains with a token determined by the issuer. More about them in this Reddit post and in the Pchains documentation.

Miscellaneous
•The Summer of dApps contest! This is your chance to win a few thousands BURST and a portable Burst miner / full node. Check the rules and join the fun! ◦There are currently two contenders: CloudBurst and Pchains.

•@MrPilotMan created a paper wallet generator for MacOS.
•The Chinese community now has more article translations in Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Next step: Korean!
•Burst Classic is now officially dead. The last miner of the old chain has pulled the plug.
•We have got a massive upswing in transactions, probably caused by Alias squatters.

I, a year ago, had a negative involvement with exchanges, purchased coins, simply did not go to the handbag, what's more, I find very, numerous protestations and feedback of this coin from clients. In this manner I cease from Burst.

So the essence of all that is different from the others.

That's great, so wherever a cryptocurrency emerges it must be different from the others and have a good vision and mission.
In order to be a role model for technology literate traders.

I hope that this news will somehow affect the crypto-currency market, or rather the growth in the value of coins. Now it sounds promising

Thats another encouraging weekly update. Burst, after a long time, has some marketing work behind it by real people of the community. Not like the pump marketing it had with Adam Guerbuez some years ago. This time theres real value in Burst.

Title: Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! Proof of Capacity is here.

Burst's development and improvements are as usual going forward. Rico666 and the PoCC are right to hold development first over marketing. But it doesnt mean that the Burst community should just sit and wait. We should show our support and spread the message.

Weekly Burst Report #53 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/09/24/weekly-burst-report-53/)

  • The PoC Consortium released the new version the core wallet: BRS 2.2.3 “Victor”. This release fixes UPnP and rare race conditions in UT handling, adds forgotten /lib directory for ARMv7 hosts, and implements DeepQR codes (CIP14) (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/CIPs/blob/master/cip-0014.md) for a better Point-of-Sale/mobile payment infrastructure.

Thanks to the UPnP fixes, the number of public nodes has already started to go up again, growing more than 31% this week alone.

Download the new wallet on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/burstcoin/releases). Qbundle one-click upgrade is available for Windows users.

  • The miner software Scavenger is going well towards a 1.4.0 release. According to PoC Consortium developer JohnnyFFM, “we just have to fix some console messages and then it‘s ready to release.” See the list of commits for more information on the upcoming release.

  • Daniel Jones (@nixops) made an experiment that made some noise within the crypto community. He processed a Burst transaction via amateur radio, from a node that did not require any power. This device does not need require an electricity provider, nor an internet provider to be able to send Burst transactions. I highly recommend reading this highly informative article (https://medium.com/@nixops_56291/proof-of-life-resurrecting-technology-653167c5763a) by Daniel himself – it explains the concept of Proof of Life and the process behind the radio transaction very well.

  • The story got covered on many news websites: CoinTelegraph, CCN, TheNextWeb, The Cryptograph, and more.

It has been weeks and over a year since the Proof of Capacity Consortium has been developing improvements and giving Burst some stability. Technically, it has never been in a better position to become a top 100 coin in market value. Mining capacity is bigger, there are more public nodes, but its community needs to do its part in making it known.

Burst community, do your part. Show the general community that there is a better, greener coin waiting to be adopted.

Weekley Burst Report #54 (https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/10/01/weekly-burst-report-54/)

  • A new version of Scavenger – “the fastest Burst miner” – has been released. Version 1.4.0 is a major release with a substantial changelog. In short, it features many performance improvements (especially for big mining rigs) and new features. You can check it out and download it freely on GitHub (https://github.com/PoC-Consortium/scavenger/releases).

  • The new 2.2.3 BRS core wallet released last week looks stable so far. The PoC Consortium recommends updating if you haven’t already. Click here (https://www.burst-coin.org/download-wallet) to download it for your operating system. Numbers of public nodes keep increasing thanks to the fixes brought by this latest version (482 at the time of publication).

  • Call for Code is a multi-year global initiative that is a rallying cry to developers to use their skills and mastery of the latest technologies, and to create new ones, to drive positive and long-lasting change across the world with their code. This year, the inaugural Call for Code Challenge theme is Natural Disaster Preparedness and Relief.

Last week, we reviewed Daniel Jones’ (@nixops) concept of Proof-of-Life, which uses blockchain and radio to send a message to confirm someone is alive in a war time or natural disaster scenario. Daniel’s technology has been submitted to Call for Code – there are many prizes to win so let’s keep our fingers crossed. Here is the project’s repository (https://github.com/nixops/NoBoundaries).

  • Some explanations (https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/9iu9tu/new_roadmap/?utm_term=30875983366&utm_medium=comment_embed&utm_source=embed&utm_name=null&utm_content=footer) of what the roadmap looks like after the various announcements over the past few months, by PoC Consortium developer rico666.

  • Don’t forget to vote (https://numex.exchange/vote/) for Burst for the Numex listing. It is free, it takes a few seconds and you do not need to register.

A new Weekly BURST Report is out!
 - Scavenger v1.6.0, Android mining, BRS 2.2.4 announced, BurstLib by BurstExtensions, and more!

Development
•Scavenger 1.6 is going to be released soon, and it is packed with exciting development. The PoCC’s Burst reference miner is ready to be available for Linux/Unix/Windows/MacOs/Android (32&64bit), allowing support for raspberry pi, odroid and modern android phones. Yes, Burst mining with Android is back! (Long standing community members may remember the first Burst Android wallet – the world’s first application that allowed efficient cryptocurrency mining on smartphones, back in late 2016). ◦PoC Consortium developer JohnnyFFM explains: “I added support for one-dimensional hashing and made Scavenger run on Arm cpus and old 32bit x86 cpus. Tested it on all sorts of Raspberry Pi’s and on a Samsung A5 Android phone. Have a user with a Samung Note 9 as well. Works like a charm!”
◦Why is it a big deal? It shows the versatility of Burst’s Proof-of-Capacity algorithm, allowing mining on even the weakiest and least energy-consuming machines and thus enabling an ecosystem truly designed for decentralization.
◦Full changelog also includes new features, some optimization (2-3% speed increase), and a few bugfixes

•The BRS 2.2.3 core wallet will have a successor sooner than initially planned. BRS 2.2.4 is about to be released soon. Upgrading will be highly advised for average users. Stay tuned!
•Community developer CurbShifter has been developing incredible decentralized applications with Burst for the past few months. Most notably, he is behind CloudBurst, a decentralized cloud storage application, and BurstCoupon, to create and claim password protected coupons with Burst. ◦This week, CurbShifter released BurstLib, a cross platform dynamic library to make developing applications and tools compatible with the Burst blockchain easier.
◦It is providing secure access to the BRS functionality even on external nodes. It is a bridge between the BRS (Burst Reference Software) REST API and a standard C interface. Making it ready to be called from a wide range of programming languages such as C, C++, C#, ruby, python, java, scala, php, lua, ect.
◦BurstLib is open source and available on GitHub. Don’t hesitate to support the amazing work of CurbShifter by donating to his BURST address: BURST-WN56-VW53-7B6V-9YAFW.

•How would Burst hold against a 51% attack? “In absolute numbers, it is 10 times more expensive to attack Burstcoin, than it is to attack Bitcoin. In relative numbers (profitability), Burstcoin would be a more than 55000 times more bitter pill than Bitcoin.”

Development
•The BRS 2.2.4 version of the core wallet is ready to be published, but the PoC Consortium decided to postpone the release a little to add more things to it. In the meantime, PoCC developer rico666 published a writeup on Reddit: “why you should update to BRS 2.2.3 (or later)“. ◦In short: BRS 2.2.3 changes the way unconfirmed transactions are propagated across the network. This allows ramping up other parameters in the wallet to improve scaling.
◦With BRS 2.2.4, “the Burst network in general will be capable of swallowing a surge equivalent of 80 000 tps for 30 seconds.” So why should you update exactly? “Older BRS versions will work too, but in case such a surge happens, they will cause a high bandwidth not only for themselves, but also for their peers. Which means they become the weakest elements in the network.” Read the article for a fuller explanation.

•The Burst Wiki now includes a BURST research resources page, referencing research publications relative to Burst. Keep in mind this is a work-in-progress.

Websites
•Don’t forget to vote (every day!) for Burst for the Numex listing. It is free, it takes a few seconds and you do not need to register.

Other
•Daniel Jones and Tamara Sanchez represented Burst at the 2nd edition of the BlockchainNW conference in Seattle, where they spoke on a panel and met many people. Tamara shared their experience: “we connected with a lot of amazing individuals and we’re just happy to talk about the community and the work and dedication it entails. We were just humbled to represent [the Burst community].” ◦She adds: “We will be at another conference in San Francisco in about a week and a half.”
◦Additionally, Daniel often goes live on Twitch talking about Burst. You can find some replays on his channel. A live is planned for 11pm PST today, don’t hesitate to tune in.
◦Burst community figure Dan Dares launched a fundraising to help cover Daniel and Tamara’s expenses. As Dan says, Daniel and Tamara “are giving up days at a time, paying for plane tickets, rooms and more. Out of their own pockets and using their scarce days off for us all.” It’s time to give back! Donation wallet: BURST-NQAW-GQ84-CA6C-7B3LS
◦Finally, Daniel confirmed that an important announcement is coming for October.

•Physical Burst coins are in! Reddit user u_Zensae_ ordered 1,000 pieces for himself and the community. He is making a first call for people who want to order 10 or more. Contact him on Reddit if you are interested!

Weekly Burst Report #58
Development
•The PoC Consortium released the BRS 2.2.4 “Propagator” core wallet. BRS 2.2.4 contains a security fix, UI enhancements, a 4-fold increase of UTStore, and more. This version allows the Burst network to absorb a surge of 80 000 tps for at least 30 seconds. ◦Full changelog and download on GitHub.
◦Why you need to update to the latest wallet version.
◦Qbundle one-click upgrade is not yet available at the time of publication, but should be implemented very soon.
◦MacOS brew formula has been updated as well to 2.2.4 by nixops.

Card

•Great news for miners! The PoC Consortium released the brand new 2.0.0 version of Engraver, the reference Burst cross-platform plotting software. PoCC developer JohnnyFFM explains: “It will replace all previous CPU-Plotting tools, i.e. Engraver 1.0.0 and Xplotter. Engraver 2.0 was done from scratch and offers a solid basis for all future features that are planned. All hashing routines have been massively optimised. Engraver 2.0 is hashing ~20% faster than any other CPU-Plotter. It is also the first CPU plotter supporting the AVX512f instuction set of latest CPUs.” ◦Full changelog and download on GitHub.

https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/11/05/weekly-report-59/

Development
•The PoC Consortium released new versions of both Engraver and Scavenger, the reference plotting and mining softwares. ◦PoCC developer JohnnyFFM released engraver 2.0.4 today. There was a bug causing all files with a startnonce not equal to 0 to be corrupt in Engraver 2.0.2. He states: “this was a nasty issue but it is now fixed. I am deeply sorry for this and hope I did not cause to much inconvenience for users who have recently tested Engraver.“
◦The good news for windows users: a GUI is now included in the 2.0.4 release. If feedback is positive, JohnnyFFM will push this as candidate to replace Xplotter in Qbundle.
◦Aditionnally, Engraver as well as Scavenger now fully support AVX512f for compatible CPUs. JohnnyFFM explains here the benefits it brings for scanning speed.
◦Finally, Odroid XU4 Mali OpenCL support has been added to Scavenger 1.6.4.

•Everything leads to believe the BRS 2.2.3 and BRS 2.2.4 core wallet versions work like a charm. “I am pretty confident that the network was never as healthy as it is today”, says PoCC developer rico666.

Weekly Burst Report #60

https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/11/19/weekly-burst-report-60/

Development
•Please, update your wallet. Outdated nodes are being used to help spam the network. No worries – the attack is being mitigated, but always keep in mind this is a consensus network and it is only as strong as its weakest parts – which would be the oldest wallets. Updates are there to help the network. ◦BRS 2.2.5 “Mitigator” is out and 100% resistant to the spam attack. Qbundle already offers the one-click upgrade. Everyone needs to update!

•An important announcement is coming before December, as announced by the PoC Consortium in a Reddit post: “By the end of this month we will inform you about a clandestine project of the PoCC (and friends). Is it big? You bet.”

•Please welcome PoCCBot, the PoC Consortium’s tipping bot for Reddit! PoCCBot is a great way to show appreciation towards a valuable post by donating a few BURST to its author. “The bot is still in the testing phase, but should be fully operational soon. It also looks like sending tips is not the only task that will be performed by this bot in the future…”, according to PoC Consortium developer rico666. ◦You need to get listed to be able to receive tips.
◦You need to fund your tip account to be able to tip.
◦Please welcome @BotPoCC on Twitter as well!

•Version 0.2.3 of the Android wallet has been released. It now supports fee suggestions, and Russian & Serbian language.

Development
•Last week, the PoC Consortium released the BRS 2.2.5 version of the core wallet, which helped successfuly mitigating a spam attack. PoCC developer rico666 reveals: “the latest spam attack which was mitigated by the 50-50 pool forging fat blocks and the release of BRS 2.2.5 stipulated development of BRS 2.2.6 which is to be released in December and specifically addresses inter-wallet communication.” In the meantime, everyone please update to 2.2.5 to keep the network as strong as possible. ◦Reddit user u/harryy1453 even made it easier for you to upgrade by introducing a “handy little repo that contains packages for the Burstcoin Wallet for Debian and its derivatives.”
◦You can probably expect a more detailed writeup explaining what happened with last week’s spam attack soon.
◦The Poloniex Burst wallet was momentarily disabled but everything is now back to normal.
•PoC Consortium developer JohnnyFFM hinted at a new release of the reference plotting software Engraver. And it’s fast… Very fast! See this Reddit thread for some never-seen-before nonce generation speed. Beta is already available for testers.
•Do you remember the PoCCBot we talked about last week? Well, work is still ongoing. What is now a “simple” tip bot might become much more than that in the (near?) future.
•Friendly reminder: the November announcement is coming next week.
