What you think about the future of technology?
In my opinion technology is getting obsolete very quickly. For example just few years ago people were using GPRS in their mobile, then they shifted to Edge Technology then now a days people are talking about 3G and 4G/LTE Technology.
Same applies to all kind of technologies. First people were watching TV, then LCD, LED  now OLED, Curve, 3D and 4D.
What you see after 20 years ?

this is happening because of competition, I guess we may not need to buy most of the appliances like TVs in twenty years to come because they will be of no use. they are most likely to be replaced by something else.

This is the glory of the free market. Competition is pushing these innovations. It is going to be crazy to see what we have in 20 years.

The future will bring us to places not imaginable to us yet. But it is fun to try and guess these things too. Probably everybody will auto run cars by then, cellphones or computers may be binded with us, and mundane tasks

we will never do again like grocery shopping. Everything will be automated and we will have free time to hangout with whoever we want. Scary to think we live in a world where we dont work but that is where we are headed

Technology is complex, there are endless possibilities of invernting a new technology and replacing the other. I think in the future we are most likely to use electronic gadgets than our traditional way of doing things such as, vehicles, instead of gasoline we use electricity(tesla car is an example for this) books will be completely replaced by tablets or any other form of technology. The point is technology becomes more complex overtime, and we can only hope for a changed world in the future.

Exactly... Something you don't see that very often in public sector. Competition leads to innovation.

Yes now all around the world technology has grown faster than ever we think,
I am grateful to live in advanced technology rapidly, try to imagine in the era of 60's we can not share like now, no online forums like this, all the information is very limited, only certain circles who get information quickly and others.
Although technological developments are so fast we have to use them wisely, for example today crime, rape, robbery, all these crimes can happen because of our own mistakes as well, my advice do not put everything about home address, birth date, and other information very important.

Technologi is stuck now. All companies do is upgrading existing techs. Just look smartphones: IPhone 1-4 had many differences, each were unique, and iPhones 6-X are almost the same, with small addtions.

Moore's law is pretty much dead. Transistors can't get smaller than atom. So who knows what the future holds after 2022 or so.

I believe we would be using a mind controlled device attached to our body(a contact lens in our eye) which would display VR screen at our will and be a phone, computer, every sensors and testing device.

A lot of things change in the tech world for twenty years. But in some areas will still continue. Although I am in favour of the technology developed in all sectors of human life.

I see blockchain technology being a standard in the horizon. It took a while, but entire countries are starting to recognize its potential.

Obviously there will be holographic and virtual technology in the future, there would be flying vehicles
There would be space ships and power lasers as weapons and tools.
Invisibility prehaps.

I can not imagine how technological advancements will be in the next 20 years, certainly, all the technologies you mention will grow better than now. I do not know what new technology will be. Maybe there will be such technology in Doraemon that may become real, although it seems impossible.

I think that's better for our technology in the future. Because of our present day widespread modern technology that we did not know, we can focus more on modern technologies in our day. Maybe in the future it would be better and more profitable technologies to be created such as google-related things, like android phones? and other technologies to be invented. Experts will be created. Now because some of us are not content with it, because they still see things that are wrong and have not completely changed, like bugs. I look forward to the new features of things that can save people

The future of technology will define on what's gonna happen in the future, because nowadays almost everything is connected to technology. Almost every human being already has a phone or gadgets that are products of technology. Technology will be the main source of living in the future because it will not stop from expanding as long as there is someone who upgrades them yearly.

The development of the times is always accompanied by the development of science, and technology is also part of science. In the next few years, it is possible and certain that what we use today will be replaced by new, more clever things. Because humans wan't stop to innovate and work to facilitate human work.

Yes! Indeed! Technology improves quite fast. For me, what i think we can see after 20 more years are robots with artificial intelligence and can move almost like humans. People will live a life pretty easier than we do right now. Imagine, just buy a robot and it can do the household chores for you. You can command and it will obey as long as it is possible to be done. But, there'll be fewer jobs to most humans.
Robots will replace people. Those are more reliable.
Perhaps the only job that will be left are related to cooking (unless robots have been programmed with taste), doctors and nurses (including veterenarians), archeologist and scientist. Perhaps there are still more i haven't mentioned. All i'm saying is, there'll be no place for an uneducated person.
Maybe i'm wrong, but that's what i can see for now.

Technology would keep on evolving and would be pushing progress further. Discoveries would be made and things we previously thought impossible may very well be proven in time as technology evolves.

Expect the unexpected, in 20 years, lots will change in this world. Who knows, the drone prototype that could carry a man might become compact and can be carried in the streets as flying cars. The prototype solar airplane, who knows, it might become a passenger one.

Of course, space exploration might reveal something that we can't believe. But for sure, pollution, lots of it, contamination of almost everything because of toxins produced because of this innovation.

In 20 years I would definitely expect self driving cars to be more mainstream, and perhaps even flying cars to around.

Technology nowadays evolve and innovate so fast. Like example when you buy a cellphone, now your cellphone is already the latest version but after 1week there will release a new version one. Technology nowadays is very important to us that's why some of the manufacturer like computer and cellphone company need to improve there product also it also go with the competition what happen in the industry. technology evolves , the future of technology in my own opinion will be the main source of human in building and making more advance equipments and gadgets in the future. it's normal for technolgy to be replaced, the more years pass the more evident it becomes that old technolgy is useless, since the new on is that more advanced. I think the same is for payment systems, for example we have SWIFT at the moment that follows some specific protocols, but the Blockchain technoogy is much more advanced than this system in so many ways, so it's very likely that we see it being replaced over the years, the more people learn about Blockchain and the more they use it. The more things we find out (technologically wise) the faster we can learn new things, the rate of processing power for example increases expontentially year by year and we constantly see faster phones, smaller phones, phones with higher pefromances etc. Once we used the same computing power to go to the moon and now we use it to watch cat videos on youtube.

What I can see after 20 years is humansare going to be eased by technology. Our life is getting spoiled by the tech since it will be more shopisticated time by time. I wonder that all of our daily routines might be done by the technology,  so our life will depend on the technology.

The makers of advance technologies  are dreaming of cashless society, paperless worksites, flying cars, robotized sea and land transportation, multi-purpose agricultural machines and other machines that use less manpower. As of now, these advance technologies are rapidly comes to life with the aid of sophisticated computers that make or create a design faster than the human mind. In the near future, man might have less to do, advance technologies will takes care.

Technology always changing according to new research and invention, Now we have digital currency, digital wallet, still we are using the metal currency and paper note.

I agree technology becomes obsolete fast because innovations are brought out fast as well. However, some companies that releases these technologies fast encounters a lot of bugs. A good example would be the release of the Galaxy Note 7 that had an exploding issue. Companies have been so blinded by the competition that testing and actually making sure their inventions are safe are forgotten.

A lot of technologies become obsolete fast because of competition. Many companies now strive to innovate their flagship products fast in order to cope up with the demand and to defeat the competition.

Research and inventions are always solves our problem and creating easier than before. If you note currency, from ancient man used goods exchange not currency -> some sea items are used as currency-> metal currency   -> paper note -> digital currency.

I fear that technology will develop so fast. for example, robots. I think technology wars will come along.

There are still a lot of things that could be invented especially with the current technology that we have. I agree that even the technology for several equipments are getting very fast paced as well but with great improvement everytime they discover something new. I think that technology if handled and used correctly could really benefit everyone and can move us forward to more fruitful and useful advancements. With the all the rave in social media, technologies will be revolved around it. People really want to know, for some reason, what other people are doing. Technology's situation is good but it will improve. I think it is enough for all planet. But I miss old time

two hundred years ago it was invented the car (mass production) and considering the rudimentary resources that they had, and if we look that the current speed record is above 400km/h, or that flying is something usual, i can't imagine where will technology bring us but, i think it will consume, at some point, our resources...who knows...

Fast development of technology maybe in our duture after 10yrs we're living wirh robots. In some stores or fastfoods thier workers are robots because of technology. Robot pets like dog,cats and other. We don't need cars too after 10 or 20 years beacuse thier is flying slippers. Lol

In the field of communication, i think the biggest step will be an iris scanner . This will prevent any hacks on the phone. But then again, we can simply implement this one instead of using password that can be easily hacked by hackers.

I just watched a video about this. There was this guy claiming to be a time traveler and he spill all the beans about the future. He mentioned that there will be cars running at 600km per hour. He also mentioned that trump will win the next election. On the video, he was so scared to go back in his time because someone will kill him. He was hiding in our time to make scared of dying. Time machines will be introduced on 2023 (if I remember it right).  There was a caption at the video that there was a group helping him to stay here, provided food and shelter for him. Believe it or not, it might be the future of technology.

Demand in gadgets, appliances, computer, etc etc. which uses advance technology makes it more capable of developing it self more faster than ever. People generation by generations are getting smarter so who know what might happen in our technology or what technology can give us more in the future with every company competing and innovating.

I just read, Google designed artificial intelligence that created its better version without human help. AI has learned to recognize images much faster than the one created by man. Sounds a little creepy.

Based on what I have observed, the smart phones nowadays are becoming bigger and bigger, some are completely eliminating other parts and only the screen is left. I bet 20 years from now they'll be able to create something like holographic image features for smart phones and the same goes for computers and television. They will be revolutionized.

The law of accelerating returns describes and observes that with every technology we create and adopt it contribute to our ability to achieve the next groundbreaking innovation more easily and quickly. 10,000 years ago one innovation would be incredible for 5,000 years. Nowadays we have such ability to build the next innovation that every week something amazing is created. Technology will keep speeding up until we reach the singularity. Where technological improvement is impossibly fast. This will be enabled by the creation of an AI which can better itself. The only way humans can survive is either by uploading our consciousness to the AI or attaching that AI consciousness to our minds. Either way it is impossible to predict because not only can we imagine what things we'll invent in 50 years. Our minds may well be completely different and so have different reasons for inventing or creating things altogether.... There is no way of knowing, just get involved and try and create something!

I think technology gives us a easier life in the future.  I think 100 years from now people become a immortal because of the technology.

The main cause of that would be the tight competition between big technological companies. It’s good for us in a ways since we can always look forward on what the latest technology would bring, but we can expect that to be expensive at first; when the newer one comes out, only then the price would lower for the one it followed. Competition in technology is good for the human race because what seemed impossible before would be a reality sooner or later; hence the thirst for improvement/development would never be quenched.

I think OP is right and tech is advancing faster and faster. It actually advances exponentially, it just doesn't always seem so as we are still pretty far down on the exp curve, but as we move forward it will become more pronounced that we are advancing significantly.

I think technology in the future will be much better. Because remembering the more advanced technology in various aspects of human life. With the development of technology, new things continue to emerge, people continue to innovate freely so as to bring the latest innovation, greatest, and very creative.

Since people likes innovation, technology becomes obsolete very fast. They discover and improve things quickly to improve the quality of life, to make life convenient and easy for everyone. However, I really think that this has some effect on people, people will become lazier and less sociable because everyone will depend on technology and gadget.

Might get obsolete but other better technologies appear instead.
Also, a 20 year old motorcycle is still as good today as it was 20 years ago, which means that just because new tech appears doesn't mean the old one isn't still useful, just that new one co-exists with the old one. Just like the Terminator.

It's enough to look at films from the 90's, the technology shown at that time seemed to be a distant future. Now it's everyday for everyone. What the future will bring ... who knows.

There's still a lot to anticipate when it comes to tecnology in this era. There are lots of advancements coming that we can't even beging to imagine.

In the digital age, communication is very practical. Humans no longer need to wait for days to get an email reply (email). In addition to emails, phones, video calls, short messages, pictures, videos, everything can be sent directly from A to B without any time difference at all, no matter the distance between the two. This happens because of the technological sophistication that not only cuts the time but also the intermediary of communication-like the post office-which now seems no longer relevant.

Today, the post office now serves more as an inter-goods provider than a mail service broker. Similar developments also occur in the world of financial services. To be able to transfer from A to B, a person needs a financial institution, such as a bank as an intermediary. But beyond that, there is Blockchain as an alternative.

Born in 2009, Blockchain technology was created to remodel the circulation scheme. By the way, transactions between A and B can occur without intermediaries, in a shorter time, cheaper, and even much more secure, than transactions offered by banks or other similar institutions.

The blockchain is simply an online global database-one that can be used anywhere in the world connected to the internet. The reason why technology becomes obsolete too fast is because technology advances too fast too. One discovery or advancement leads to another. So, I guess in the future, we our society will be surrounded by advance technology and we might even be doing less because of this technology.

After 20 years, the future of mobile phones and communication will move forward drastically. In terms of telecommunixation, I can see an upgrade in speeds of the internet technology. On the other hand, transportation would be improved especially in the trains.

         I have read many a good book on artifical intelligence but the one that really scared me was by James Barrat called Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era.

         Its a must read as he explains where we are today and how we are racing to our doom by what all these government and corporate entities are racing to develop and be the first to invent a Super Artificial Computer.

I agree that it is impossible to imagine what will happen with technology in the next 20 years. I'm sure we'll see a continuation of a lot of trends that are happening now. We'll be talking to a lot more computer. I mean literally with voice recognition and a little AI. There are so many instances when you have to talk to a person, but a computer could easily to the job. Think drive-thrus and call centers. I think that Amazon's idea of having a store without cashiers will catch on. Self driving cars with be the only cars on the roads in some places. The craziest thing is to think about what solutions will come out to replace all the jobs that technology is making obsolete.

Technology will be so advanced in the future that most jobs will be automated by robots.  Our productivity will increase so we will need to find a way to spread the wealth better.

On the contrary, I think technology continues to advance. 20 years ago we do not have internet and now a lot of us could not live without it. There are new technology we are being introduced to every year, such as smartphones, smart TVs, laptops with different capabilities, augmented reality and virtual reality, which is being poised to be used for more than just gaming. I think that in the future many spheres from our life will switch to block-chain technology. For example, databases, medical documents, real estate and even computer games!

As new technologies are being developed, they have really made our life comfortable. It depends on the usage of technology by a person. Some people use technology for doing serious crime which is very bad. otherwise the future of technology is bright.

I think it's pretty evident what the future of technology is based on current trends. We already spend the majority of our lives on the internet, which is, in many ways, a "virtual world." Once decentralization, AI, VR and other forms of immersive reality evolve further I'm sure we'll be living out our lives in virtual worlds to achieve a better quality of life and keep the earth somewhat sustainable.

Technology never stops improving, everyone always have brilliant idea how existing technology can be develop. But what I can say everything is already there it's just people don't want to let it go all coz gradual improvement is additional money to the company.

That happens because technology has always experienced exponential growth, there was a time when the intervals between one technology and it's updates were too long exactly because there wasn't other support technologies which could help making the process faster, but as more and more tech is invented, they all start supporting each other (example: modern cars are result of multiple tech and discoveries.. Starting from the wheels, the use of fossil fuel, aerodynamics, electronics and yada yada) the speed of invention was gradually getting faster and we are at a moment in history when that exponential curve is reaching a point in which that advances are emerging so rapidly that it's very difficult to be updated. Theorically there can be a no-return point when the changes will be so rapid that we won't be able to understand the consequences of what we created. That is called Technological Singularity and it has to do with IA developement

My opinion about this is that they are going to grow a lot. Every year something new appears, divices are upgrading, different functions appear and you can perform various operations that ease people's work. Indeed, different technologies with new features make life easier but the world is changing a lot and unfortunately not on the positive side. Once the technologies are upgraded, it will greatly increase the level of radiation emanating from it. Everyone thinks positively, but very few see the negative impact on humanity.

I don’t think it will replace us. I’m actually convinced we could cultivate a harmonious relationship with it. Aren’t we enjoying the benefits of tech at this moment –the convenience of using our phones or the fun that we get from playing games with our PCs and VR headsets. The future will simply make way for better technologies that will continue enhancing and elevating our lives. For instance, AI is already changing the way we shop or do research online. Who knows... maybe it can upgrade social media as well. I'm thinking it can eventually help filter content online. Don't you hate fake news?

I think tech is innovating faster than people can actually realize and scientists and tech companies actually have future innovations in their pockets but are waiting for the perfect moment, a moment when people will be acclimatized with "what's new" and a time when people won't criticize that much if for example we will be able to merge into a virtual world and continue our existence.
As for what comes next?
Tech is unpredictable and also it is based on need and demand. So, if for the last 6 months there was a need of robots that cook pasta, there we go, go buy one in Walmart.

I think technology will become more advanced as it is today.

What competition? The Tech world is becoming very monopolistic. Just ask the folks at Facebook and Google... But the question is: Is it going to be beneficial for technological progress? I am not sure...

There is competition. Countries are competing when it comes to AI. It’s the new space race, as others described it and China wants to be number one when it comes to the tech. So as long as there is competition, we will witness the emergence of innovative products and technologies.

I think there will always be a constant demand for technology. We always want things easier and more convenient, correct? They say necessity is the mother of invention. That’s how technology develops. We need to solve earth’s problems, we need to make ourselves healthy and functional, we need to make work more efficient and productive –that’s the reason why new technologies are developed.  And I think all these developments in AI, blockchain, VR and AR –these are for fulfilling our everyday needs.

It seems to me that this is very interesting. Watch how technology changes from year to year. Now is a period of time when technology is developing rapidly. I am sure that in 20 years everything will change drastically, but most of the new technologies are not always needed, but for every product there is a buyer.

I think you have a concept error, the technology does not become obsolete, the technology advances quickly, leaving the current devices obsolete. And I think that as it goes the thing we will be in about 20 years immersed in the virtual reality

for me, that concept of tesla on transmitting energy from orbiting solar panels is really the future!

Technologies are rapidly moving forward and soon everything around us will become robotic and not real, so take for example the AI.
