anyone have any nodes for the wallets, the online wallet ive created and my own personal wallet have 0 connections
addnode=70.98.114.229
addnode=207.12.89.2

once you get a connection you can run getpeerinfo though the wallet console, and try adding a few more nodes.

I haven't had an issue yet not sure why others are having issues.  The only think I did notice is that my IP is banned from IRC for 3 days for???  nothing.  Look in your logfile and see if your banned - if you are it will not use IRC for finding peers.

thanks for that managed to get it working with those 2 nodes.
Looks like my web wallet is working now

http://www2.crypto-expert.com/cgbwallet

However its still in beta stages so although all security procedures are taken including transferring half the funds off site, any funds held are at the owners risk

This currency IMHO has a lot of potential to be a source of BTC and/or LTC storage.   Think about this: The money supply at the moment is 240227.80 - there are only 760,000 coins left to mine.

Please go to OP and download the update. The code has been edited and edits will occur at block 50k. You will need the new code at that point and going forward.

at block 50000 it looks like the reward drops to 5, and thereon every 50000 blocks it halves.  So if you aren't using the new version at 50000, you'll be off on your own fork, and anything generated will not be compatible with the peers blockchains

yeah its cryptogenicbullion.conf or CryptogenicBullion.conf in *nix I believe, definitely not .config

I have no issues connecting even without adding nodes...

I am willing to bet if you check your log file, your IP is for some reason banned from the IRC servers being used to find peers.  Same thing happened to me.

Well this is odd. So here's what happened:

- I downloaded CGB when it was first released and started mining. I could not get the first released client to sync up. I left the funds I mined (194ish) in the pool until I could withdraw them.

- Today, I downloaded the updated client and was able to get it working. I was on a different computer, however, so I exported my wallet and added to roaming appdata files on new computer.

- New computer would NOT sure transaction for 194

- Got back on  computer I originally installed it on, updated CGB, and boom, there's my monies.

Did I not do something right when moving my wallet file? I thought you could basically copy and paste the wallet.dat file where ever you need it without trouble :\

I think I'm going to start a new wallet and send all these funds to my new address just to play it safe... maybe the wallet.dat file is corrupt or something.

Still find it odd... I've moved wallet files around for other clients before with no issues.

Not sure what you mean by "store" - you have to rescan I think if you already downloaded the blockchain.  Just export the private key(s) from the wallet and add them to the new wallet.

I really do not know what the deal is with CGB and Cryptsy  ???

Cryptsy is the only exchange that I have approached to add CGB because Cryptsy is my home and where I trade!

I have been told for weeks that CGB is "on the list", then "high on the list", then to see numerous other currencies added ahead of it...? Just yesterday I received notice that CGB was "on the list". Downgrade from "high on the list"??? I have no idea...

I know some of the CAP/BTG community does not like CGB because it is also a PoW/PoS clone. Are these people influencing Cryptsy to view CGB in a negative light? I hope not, but you never know.

I know some at Cryptsy DO like CGB and can appreciate the differentiation of a 1 million coin cap with the subsidy halving after every 50k blocks. Ultimately, however, my understanding is that Vern makes the decision and I do not have a read on his view of CGB. All of my inquiries have been answered by BitJohn. Believe me when I say that I am pushing as much as I can for addition and hope it will be soon. My recommendation to supporters and those who want CGB added to Cryptsy is to:

1. Request CGB on the Cryptsy thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246679.0
2. Request CGB to be added in the Cryptsy chat box: https://www.cryptsy.com
3. Request CGB be added via twitter: @Cryptsy
4. Start and contribute to threads about CGB and CGB/Cryptsy on this forum
5. Change your avatars to CGB logo
6. Mine CGB
7. Create services for CGB if you have the skill - I will pay for contributions

I think the only way to make this happen is by an unrelenting push from the CGB team and supporters applying unyielding pressure on the Cryptsy crew to add CGB!

With regard to getting CGB listed before too many are mined, I personally do not think this to be too much of an issue. I think the real value and attention to CGB will occur after the first 50k blocks are mined. At this point the subsidy will halve and the value will spike. Just my opinion.

I think the issue with CGB to cryptsy is that the invest class cryptos are thinly traded.  As such, they really don't make that much money for the exchange.  I think that CGB is the best of the bunch, but they trade at a high price point.  truth is that many people on the exchange would rather have .75 of a billion IFC over 100 or less CGB.

that means that IFC will necessarily be more of a pull early on than CGB.

Your profile states that CGB is to be locked away frozen for investment purposes.  This is exactly to the ire of what cryptsy wants.  That being said, they are the exchange in alt coins and they want to remain that way and the requires services, which is why CGB will be added.

When, that is up in the air, but I would imagine it will be in the next two weeks.

Cryptsy ultimately has a lot on their plate, so adding currencies is probably not at the top of the list during the week.  they have 10% a day user growth and they have to monitor the system to make sure that the load is not to great for expected traffic.  in addition there is the USD direct issue, which will be a huge boon for their business, but that has so much along with it.

I think that new batch of currencies will be added this weekend.  that seems to be the pattern based on the limited data we have :)

Cryptsy, after all, is only 3 weeks out of beta.

I would think within two weeks, possible Friday Saturday or Sunday for an add.

Happy hashing all!

Excellent points my friend, thank you for the insight/contribution. I can see the point clearly that you make regarding the trading volume with the currencies designed for holding, however, I would point out to Cryptsy and others that in the 3 weeks of existence for CGB, 300k have been mined. Due to this, I feel the volume is there and trading would be plentiful. At least until the subsidy starts halving, at which point price should skyrocket and hoarding will occur. Even when that occurs though, doesn't Cryptsy make a percentage off of each trade, meaning a trade of 1btc worth if Infinitecoin would equal the same profit for Cryptsy as a trade for 1btc worth of CGB?

Interesting discussion nonetheless.

Yes, Cryptsy keeps a list of potential candidates to be added. From my understanding, this list is compiled by BitJohn and he does the research. Then Vern makes the decision which ones get added and when they get added. CGB has been on the list for sometime now, pretty much all of July. Hopefully we will see it added soon! Keep mining!!!

Try removing your peers.dat file (from the same directory your wallet.dat is in). That and waiting about 10 minutes after launching the wallet solved the problem for me.

The problem is 80 percent of the coins will be mined within 3 months, I doubt the price will keep up as the reward diminishes very quickly for the miners.

I appreciate your opinion, however, I disagree.

I am confident that the subsidy halving repeatedly each time half the remaining bullion are mined to be the perfect algorithm for a currency targeted towards the long term investor - the goal from the start. Half the cap will be mined in the first couple of months, 500k bullion, to spark trading and interest. Then the subsidy halves for the next 50k blocks (another couple of months) reducing the influx of CGB to the market causing scarcity to begin to kick in and the price to start to climb. The price increase at this point is what keeps the miners interested. After a couple of more months, another 50k blocks (125k CGB) will be mined, creating another rise in price, increased scarcity and encouraged hoarding. This steady growth in value every couple of months in conjunction with the shrinking subsidy delta, will keep the price growing and miners mining. Throw in the cap of 1 million and the interest of the long term investors, and you have the perfect currency for locking away your crypto investment for the long haul.

Not force itself. It was designed to be rare from the inception of the concept. Regarding your labeling CGB as a waste of electricity, I suppose that is a judgement call that each individual should be free to determine - whether they mine CGB, BTC or any other currency for that matter.

I think you may find yourself to be more of an outlier than the norm in this group if you find crypto-currencies to be a waste of electricity.

Thank you for your contribution though.

An age old question:

Do you think that it was pre-destined that you would sux de dix, or was it free will?  I believe that it was your decision.

ummm.... 60 sec block time it says.  so 60 blocks per hour... 60 x 24 = 1440 blocks per day.  = 1440 x 30days = 43200 blocks/month roughly.
first 50k blocks at 10 coins per block = 500k coins.
2nd 50k blocks at 5 coins per block = 250k coins
3rd 50k blocks at 2.5 coins per block = 125k coins.

If there is only 1million coins total this will be at least 80%.

doesn't work that way exactly once difficulty rises and mining adjusts based on profitability.  This coin is mean to store BTC, so if it took 10 years to completely mine, it would be useless with only 1 million coins.  When 80% of the coins are mined, it then because super rare in that only 200K are left.

I am only reading off what it says in the first post, I have not looked at the code or anything. It says 2 block retargets.
The difficulty is always going to adjust to try and make 60 sec blocks.  Thekidcoin are you the new developer for this coin as this is the same name on the github for the new update?

Yes, I like how you're marketing the coin as a rare store of value (ie. Bitcoins) instead of an all-knowing-all-seeing currency.  But then again, I can also see CGB being the coin for high rollers in online casinos.  ;)

Yeah, I mean with a million coins, the goal should be to store quantities of bitcoin in a stable environment.  Because trading will be thin, what you want is a high price, but a stable price VS BTC.  Because you then could store BTC in CGB to avoid large swings in BTC (possibly - a lot of factors come into play), or use it to pay for large transactions and have a much faster confirmation time.

Mining has been steadily increasing. The difficulty peaks higher each day and holds for about 12 hours and then bottoms out (also higher each day) for the other 12 hours. Interest is growing! Just over 17k blocks until the subsidy halves to 5 CGB per block! I have had a lot of trouble finding sellers on the market. Everyone is holding because they see it is a matter of when, not if this will hit Cryptsy! Keep mining!!!

Also, a reminder, I have donated 100 CGB to the lotto drawing this Sunday (see OP).

Lol, not a new logo, just one I put together quickly. Would like something cleaner, little more elegant and more bar shaped. Have a crack at it! Ideally it would be a block of ice with CGB in it or, better yet a jump drive with CGB written on it frozen inside the block.

Something like that would be perfect, possibly with a frozen look to it. Of course the language on it would have to change to fit CGB and its specs. I will bounty this activity if the final product is used :-)

Avg difficulty has been going up every day. Miners are mining and more are joining in. Services are in the works. Things certainly are looking good! Cryptsy just added 3 coins, so CGB will be somewhere towards the top of the list now. Less than 14k blocks until the subsidy halves making acquisition 2 times as difficult. Bright days coming for those who have invested early looking to lock away long term profits! Enjoy the ride!!!

I would not be surprised if we do not see CGB added until after the subsidy halves. As soon as CGB hits Cryptsy, the difficulty will skyrocket from the attention. I do not think you are wasting your hashing power. You are getting the max subsidy at an easy difficulty. Enjoy and take advantage. If you have more than your fill, please PM me. I will gladly pay for what you mine (cost of power + a percentage to you). Subsidy halving should occur ~ July 31st.

As to which coins are added and when, I can not speculate. Although I must admit that I am puzzled by the CSC leapfrog the most.

Bitjohn mentioned volume is a major factor.  So given CGB rarity, we need to mine more to get potential volume that Cryptsy will find attractive.  In the meantime, Elambert is correct.  You are getting max subsidy with much less competition.  And devs like me will slowly begin to incorporate CGB into their projects.

I do not think volume is the issue here. There are 360k+ CGB in circulation. This is more than some of the coins listed there...

The red text added to the front page that says "hash rate broadcaster" is that for a bounty, for something that says the network hash rate?

You can fake that up but it's going to be even more wildly inaccurate than the ones in the wallets that provide it.  I understand that a couple of the coin devs have tried to improve on that but in the end, it's a guess based on some pretty simple math, and the way that proof of work is done it always has to work around a certain amount of randomness.

When you opt to include proof of stake it's not even really a relevant statistic. which is why it's stripped from those wallets.

Those are the reasons that it's not already on my site. For 100 CGB I'll write a script that divides block time by difficulty and comes up with an estimated hash rate.

As long as you understand that it's a job writing fiction.  Otherwise, I'd have to feel guilty.

EDIT: I just noticed you announcing the addition on page 8, too.  I'm pretty sure that's what you mean right?

You are correct my friend regarding the request for network hashrate. I had not realized the difficulties you have outlined as I have not had the opportunity to look into this, hence the bounty. If this truly provides a statistic that is irrelevant, then I obviously do not want to proceed. This came about via request of a fan of CGB who identified a similar service provided by CAP. I mentioned this briefly to Mullick, but again, have not had the time to investigate. Have you looked at the broadcaster that CAP allegedly has?

Nope but if I get any time I'll check it out today.

It's not difficult to mock something up, but I wonder how to add any accuracy.  Even the wallet function is a best guess based on some averages in POW wallets, and some of those are known to be pretty inaccurate, especially at higher diffs.

I just got up but I'll look into it too - if they have sorted out something that doesn't feel deceptive, I wold like to add this to my site anyways.

CGB is on top of list to be added to Cryptsy as of yesterday morning. They are under siege at present so it could take time.

Coins-e is too lazy to do the getbalance workaround for PoS.

Everything is looking good. Services are under construction, difficulty is up 2000% from 3 days ago (meaning miners are mining).

Subsidy will halve in about 8 days so get them while you can. Take advantage before listing occurs, price will be high and climb.

I wouldnt worry about people who dump. Happens with all coins. Getting them back will be difficult though.

Btw, difficulty is over 1 for the first time! Keep those miners going!!!

Yeah, the thing with this coin is you can't dump and easily get them back.  Especially once the subsidy halves and difficulty rises.

I would start a thread in this section of the forum announcing your intention: how many you want to buy, what rate, etc. Then I would strongly suggest using the free escrow service that I have paid a bounty to miffman to conduct via this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=255593

It is unfortunate, but some will rip you off, so definitely push for escrow unless they are willing to send to your first.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Can I also mine with the client (like the old bitcoin client).
I only have a 2011 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard.

Would be nice to finally mine something ;)

Don't forget difficulty has gone up 3000% since the weekend and CGB has yet to be added to an exchange! If difficulty continues climbing and subsidy halves in 7 days, I do not think an extra card is going to make a difference.

OP updated with solo mining info. Still bounties available for someone who has time and wants to make a step by step guide for solo mining CGB. This manual should be easy enough for someone new to computers to be able to follow and get mining. My wife will test it out, lol. 50 CGB for Mac and 50 CGB for Windows, or 100 CGB if you do both.

EDIT:  I thought I posted this but either I forgot to press send or there's Bitcointalk server issues.

Solo mining info below.  I don't need the bounty.

Getting Started:

1. Start up CryptogenicBullion-qt, wait for it to load, then exit.

2. open a new notepad file and copy/paste the following info:

rpcuser=*username*  (make up your own username, and do not include *)
rpcpassword=*password*  (make up your own password, and do not include *)
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8395
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
testnet=0
listen=0
maxconnections=100
addnode=46.150.89.173
addnode=70.98.114.229
addnode=76.102.71.50
addnode=143.238.65.108
addnode=76.10.153.119
addnode=97.89.174.206
addnode=69.85.86.195

3. Save the above notepad file with the name: CryptogenicBullion.conf and place it in your c:/users/**yourcomputername**/appdata/roaming/CryptogenicBullion  (alternatively, you can search by going to start->search "%APPDATA%" without quotations)

4. restart CryptogenicBullion-qt, and you should connect and sync.

5. For solo mining, launch cgminer or whatever mining program you like and begin mining.
      cgminer ex: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o localhost:8395 -u **yourusername** -p **password** (without **)

It touched  0.0013 BTC/CGB in Cryptsy, I sold 1500 at this price...after that we have a little drop and now it is rising again!

Nice, small dumps, price rebounding/steadying, should rise.  I have 50K+ CGB, and I'm not dumping (haven't sold 1, and haven't deposited any to cryptsy either).

crazy prices on cryptsy atm, great for buyers :) easier for me to buy then mine atm :) I'd say longterm it'll come good and so many will wish they'd bought now :)

60 blocks have been solved since I switched to coinworld.  Elambert is looking into it as well.

When smalltimer pool went down, it left a big void and diff is correcting.  We need a third pool.

Sorry for the down time folks, been busy and haven't been able to keep too close of an eye on the pool today, I probably should have closed registration some time ago to keep so much hash rate in one place (wasn't really an issue until the pools hash rate exploded yesterday) nobody likes when the blocks to stall out during events like this.  Some of you should consider spreading the hash rate to mobgods pool.

No worries guys. The quick rise in CGB brought in an assortment of miners who mine simply to dump for BTC. This is an excellent thing for us CGB supporters allowing us to buy at amazingly low prices! Once the subsidy halves in a couple of days and the website launches, the miner rewards will be cut by 50% and they will no longer be able to wholesale like this. Then in August there will be some big announcements for CGB. This has all been planned to play out this way. CGB, as stated in the original announcement, will take some time to mature, but will have a sustainable long term growth. If you believe in CGB, take advantage of this time. I have sold my other coins on wholesale since everything is down now so I can stock up!

More to come :-)

Don't worry about the price... miners will mine and dump immediately.  The reward will 1/2 in a few days making it harder to mine.  you have to remember its a market, and the price will go up and down.

Don't panic and sell your coins, and the price will go up. If the price drops, people panic and think "oh no this is the end" and then dump, and then the price drops.

Then the same people who panicked will try to buy again when the price rebounds and end story - they have less CGB than they started with because they have to pay a higher price to get them back.

Yep this was a pool problem... blocks are definitely being solved at the rate that they should.

Yep.  I'm going to match the bounty for a third pool, bringing it up to 100 CGB for a third pool.

I have setup a CryptogenicBullion STRATUM PPLNS Pool and its working fine, so you are welcome to join and spread the network hashrate.

I have set pool fees to only 1%, 60 block confirms for fast payouts, and only 0.01 CGB payout fee to pay the actual transaction fee.

cgb.minar.cc (http://cgb.minar.cc)

Start your miner using the following parameters:
URL:stratum+tcp://cgb.minar.cc
PORT:3337
USER:username.worker
PASS:workerPass

Sample command-line:
   ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://cgb.minar.cc:3337 --scrypt -u username.worker -p workerPass

I will waiting couple blocks. :)

edit: My CGminer can't connect to the pool. I don't know why, but it's a server side issue.  (don't recognize the username, etc-etc...ohh, and I can't ping the server too)

getting sick of watching the price pull up slightly for some tosser to dump

Trust me, I feel your frustration. This is all to be expected and the normal course of things. What we are looking for is steady consistent growth over the long term. Patience is the name of the game right now, but the price does seem to be climbing again despite the dumpers. Keep in mind all alts are down as BTC is flexing its muscle at this time. Take a break from the ticker, unless you are loading up on more and I think you will be pleasantly surprised and pleased with your investment come September. We have a lot of big things planned for August which will all start with the subsidy halving around July 31st.

Try to keep things in perspective. 1 week ago CGB was not listed on any exchange and the difficulty was .05 due to the lack of mining interest. Today CGB is listed on 2 exchanges and the difficulty is in the 3.5 range. Price is up to about 10 cents per CGB from a purely subjective value just one week ago. Yes, the excitement of a jump to 40 cents per CGB and the mining attention to create a difficulty of 8 was an exciting peak and makes it difficult to see the perspective and growth that has occurred in one short week. Hang in there my friend! We are on the right course!

The whole CGB team is working diligently!

July 30th, 2013 Update:

Please download the updated clients (in OP). Also a couple of changes have been made to take preventative measures against what recently occurred with CAP. Finally, the block rewards have been extended to allow for a 1/2% yearly inflation after 1 million CGB are mined - at a rate of 0.01 CGB per block:
DNS seeds have been enable and DNS records have been created which resolve to 6 trusted nodes (we will add more soon)
Checkpoints added
Added reward of 0.01 CGB after 1 million coins are mined (comes out to 1/2% yearly inflation)

I correctly understood, what after production of 1000000 coins there will be a reduction of the saved-up coins by 0,5% a year? In total amount of coins always will be 1000000?

Just checked the changes

After block 333334 instead of PoW blocks being 0 they will be .01

Im assuming this is too keep the POW chain alive and the network speedy but they may have another reason

else if (nHeight > 333334)
      {
         nSubsidy = 0.01 * COIN; // 5256 coins per year roughly 0.053% yearly inflation
      }

How does proof of stake mining actually work (I've never kept coins this long with POS coins)?

So i have my wallet unlocked for minting and running (it was giving he message that minting is disabled etc)

Every few hours I see 10.00 CGB under "Stake", then after 26 confirms, the 10 CGB gets swept back into my account, and it shows 0.00 for the amount in the transaction history.

Is it giving be like small fractions or something that I can't see?

The problem is this line of code

int64 nSubsidy = nCoinAge * 33 / (365 * 33 + 8 ) * nRewardCoinYear;

367 days of coinage are required to recieve a reward. It an issue only with small stake amount such as your ten coins. You would need to not hit a PoS block for 33.7 days to get a reward off that amount.

Yukon Cornelius has devised a fix which was recently implemented in bitgem

int64 nSubsidy = nRewardCoinYear * nCoinAge * 33 / (365 * 33 + 8 ) ;

About 5 hrs till subsidy halves. This should have the effect of finally dropping CGB from the top 5 most profitable to mine (where it has been since it hit an exchange) or cause the price to double or most likely something between these 2 extremes! Stay tuned!

Unless we fork it again and:

b) drop reward/block speed
c) some combination of the above options

Code:
// miner's coin base reward based on nBits
int64 GetProofOfWorkReward(unsigned int nHeight)
{
int64 nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;

if (nHeight > 0)
{
nSubsidy = 10 * COIN; // 500,000 coins
}
     else if (nHeight > 50000)
     {
nSubsidy = 5 * COIN; // 250,000 coins
}
else if (nHeight > 100000)
{
nSubsidy = 2.5 * COIN; // 125,000 coins
}
else if (nHeight > 150000)
{
nSubsidy = 1.25 * COIN; // 62,500 coins
}
else if (nHeight > 200000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.75 * COIN; // 37,500 coins
}
else if (nHeight > 250000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.375 * COIN; // 18,750 coins
}
else if (nHeight > 300000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.1875 * COIN; // 9,375 coins
}
else if (nHeight > 333334)
{
nSubsidy = 0.01 * COIN; // 5256 coins per year roughly 0.053% yearly inflation
}

     return nSubsidy;
}

That should have been more like:
Code:
// miner's coin base reward based on nBits
int64 GetProofOfWorkReward(unsigned int nHeight)
{
int64 nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;

if (nHeight > 0)
{
nSubsidy = 10 * COIN; // 500,000 coins
}
            if (nHeight > 50000)
            {
nSubsidy = 5 * COIN; // 250,000 coins
}
if (nHeight > 100000)
{
nSubsidy = 2.5 * COIN; // 125,000 coins
}
if (nHeight > 150000)
{
nSubsidy = 1.25 * COIN; // 62,500 coins
}
if (nHeight > 200000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.75 * COIN; // 37,500 coins
}
if (nHeight > 250000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.375 * COIN; // 18,750 coins
}
if (nHeight > 300000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.1875 * COIN; // 9,375 coins
}
if (nHeight > 333334)
{
nSubsidy = 0.01 * COIN; // 5256 coins per year roughly 0.053% yearly inflation
}

     return nSubsidy;
}

Using else if is what caused it not to hard fork because the first condition is always going to be true so there is never going to be an else. In fact if I'm being picky it should probably also use >= because > 50000 is actually block 50,001 and above (not that it would make all that much difference on the grand scale).

I did a quick look and found the bug...it's a quick and easy fix.  The dev is updating client right now.  It's looking like block reward will half at 55,000 then again at 95,000.

summary of old and new block rewards:

old:
50K blocks @ 10 = 500,000 (up to block 50,000)
50K blocks @ 5 = 250,000 (up to block 100,000)
750K coins

New fix:
55K blocks @ 10 = 550,000 (up to block 55,000)
40k blocks @ 5 = 200,000 (up to block 95,000)
750K coins

Using else if is what caused it not to hard fork with a reduced subsidy because the first condition is always going to be true so there is never going to be an else.

Your code would work, but it's not good because you'll get a true then a true every time.  Instead is better to have first if statement as less than 50,000...then next else if as less than 100,000, etc.

I wouldn't have written it like that myself, just using the original code as a template. It may be better using something like:
Code:
// miner's coin base reward based on nBits
int64 GetProofOfWorkReward(unsigned int nHeight)
{
int64 nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;

if (nHeight > 0 && nHeight < 50000)
{
nSubsidy = 10 * COIN; // 500,000 coins
}
            else if (nHeight >= 50000 && nHeight < 100000)
            {
nSubsidy = 5 * COIN; // 250,000 coins
}
else if (nHeight >= 100000 && nHeight < 150000)
{
nSubsidy = 2.5 * COIN; // 125,000 coins
}
else if (nHeight >= 150000 && nHeight < 200000)
{
nSubsidy = 1.25 * COIN; // 62,500 coins
}
else if (nHeight >= 200000 && nHeight < 250000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.75 * COIN; // 37,500 coins
}
else if (nHeight >= 250000 && nHeight < 300000)
{
nSubsidy = 0.375 * COIN; // 18,750 coins
}
else if (nHeight >= 300000 && nHeight < 333334)
{
nSubsidy = 0.1875 * COIN; // 9,375 coins
}
else
{
nSubsidy = 0.01 * COIN; // 5256 coins per year roughly 0.053% yearly inflation
}

     return nSubsidy;
}

Obviously block 50,000 can't be used anymore but something similar to the above is specifying the exact range of the blocks so not causing a true outcome overridden by another true outcome

The code should have been:

if((nHeight>0)&&(nHeight<=50000)) nSubsidy=10*COIN; // 500,000 coins
else if((nHeight>50000)&&(nHeight<=100000)) nSubsidy=5*COIN; // 250,000 coins
else if((nHeight>100000)&&(nHeight<=150000)) nSubsidy=2.5*COIN; // 125,000 coins
else if((nHeight>150000)&&(nHeight<=200000)) nSubsidy=1.25*COIN; // 62,500 coins
else if((nHeight>200000)&&(nHeight<=250000)) nSubsidy=0.75*COIN; // 37,500 coins
else if((nHeight>250000)&&(nHeight<=300000)) nSubsidy=0.375*COIN; // 18,750 coins
else if((nHeight>300000)&&(nHeight<=333334)) nSubsidy=0.1875*COIN; // 9,375 coins
else if(nHeight>333334) nSubsidy = 0.01

I agree with mercSuey about how this should be fixed.

I posted above guys, block reward will half at block 55000 to give pool ops and exchanges, etc enough time to update client.  But instead of block rewards halving again at block 100,000, it will have at 95000.  So at the second halving of block rewards there will be 750K total coins just as with the previous halving schedule.

New fix:
55K blocks @ 10 = 550,000 (up to block 55,000)
40k blocks @ 5 = 200,000 (up to block 95,000)
750K total coins at block 95000

All is well that ends well...

Can you make the C larger just a tad?  You picked the right color, that's the main color of the CGB website in development.  ;)

August 1, 2013 Update:

Yesterday was truly an interesting day for CGB and the crypto community! The subsidy halving set to take place at 50k blocks did not occur due to an oversight in the code. The CGB team has responded, identified the issue and made the necessary corrections. The subsidy halving will now take place at block 55k. It is imperative that everyone download the latest client BEFORE block 55k. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your continued support. Please be prepared for some additional major announcements coming for CGB!

Please download the updated client on OP.

Why not make a bullion like the silver/gold bullions, it's different from all the other coins and can easier look more interesting. Shiny glimmer that represents a high value.

Elambert posted this earlier (for website example) which could be awesome:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Johnson_Matthey_500_grammes_silver_bullion.jpg

The above posted blue/white logo does not look representable and recognizable at all. It's too simplistic with just a C in it and does not shine.

Everyone here please take a moment to vote for CGB in the poll as favorite coin. Right now there is 10 votes which is already above average for the new coins but if we can get a real big number together it will sure draw some extra attention  :D

Why? There is no CGB on it and a C alone refers to cent, which is worth very little. With respect to the one trying to create something, I know it's a lot of work but it looks bad.
A good logo contains easy recognizable features or signs. The name Cryptogenic suggests the coin is something obscure, something that no one knows where it came from, a secret treasure. Bullion we know it's the big plates of gold and silver so much closer to the brandname.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated and I like the look. However, we are looking for something a bit different than your typical "coin" logo. My intention was always to have something more along the lines of a hybrid of a block of ice and a block of bullion. Someone provided the following image which I believe to be a good template. Clean, elegant and oozes affluence.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Johnson_Matthey_500_grammes_silver_bullion.jpg

I am geting the green light from the rest of the CGB team to have a logo design contest based off of these parameters. The payout of course would be in CGB. Would love to have you participate if this launches. Keep an eye out, hopefully I get approval to do this starting today.

Finally, I hope everyone has updated their client before the 55k fork. If not, please do so immediately! I am in the EST and figure that as we cross over into Sunday, the fork should occur. Don't want anyone to lose the the correct block chain. This announcement has been stickied at the top of the page by salty as well. I usually overlook the sticky's so posting this here as well to make sure all see. BTW, it is FRIDAY!!!

I usually overlook the sticky's so posting this here as well to make sure all see. BTW, it is FRIDAY!!!

I calculate block 55K by around midnight Saturday night EST.

The icy C makes me think someone had a dyslexic moment and wanted to make a "CryogenicBullion" logo...

Thanks for the constructive feedback, much appreciated.  ;D

It's all good man! Was just speaking to his general rudeness and lack of helpful criticism above anything else. I'll tinker a bit more, see what I can come up with. Looking forward to what's coming down the pipe for CGB!

Sorry dude, I didn't mean to come across as rude or unhelpful, I was remembering a cgb debacle on cryptsy where a bunch of people couldn't get their conf files working and it turned out they had copy/pasted from a template someone had posted "cryogenicbullion.conf" .. I wasn't so sure that associating it with ice was helping the confusion ^^; Seems the devs dig the ice theme too so i guess i didn't do my research properly anyway and deserve to look like a jackass. Heh. Apologies again, looking forward to seeing your submission to the logo competition thread :)

Keep voting on CGB as favorite coin.

I would have voted for CGB but since there is only 1 option, CAP for me.
CGB has quite the number of votes.

I'm trying to download the blockchain, but it seems to be getting stuck at block 45407

getinfo output:

    "version" : "v1.1.4.9-g0f2adcb-cgb",
    "protocolversion" : 60006,
    "walletversion" : 60000,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,

    "blocks" : 45407,
    "moneysupply" : 454060.29526200,
    "connections" : 8,

When I exit cryptogenicbulliond and restart it to resume the download, I get the following error message:

"ryptogenicBullion: Error loading blkindex.dat"  (The 'C' is omitted from the error).

I've deleted everything in .CryptogenicBullion except for my conf and wallet, but when I try to download the blockchain again it freezes around the same block.

Here's my conf:

rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1

Is anyone else having this problem too?

No, I don't have that problem.  And I see you're using the updated client...

First, here's my config file:

rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8395
p2pport=7695
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

maxconnections=100

addnode=76.10.153.119
addnode=97.89.174.206
addnode=69.85.86.195

And you already tried deleting peers.dat and blkindex.dat, so I don't know...
Let me know if my config file helped at all.  Maybe I'll think of something else.

I have been mining at cgb.epools.org and all has been fine, so until Bigal gets the pool back up, I'd suggest using one of the alternatives.  :)

Ah, your old peers.dat is the problem.  For whatever reason, you're the only one getting this error.  No one on the team can duplicate your issue.  And we have not heard of anyone else with this issue either.

Please spread your hash rate!  No pool should provide more than 51% of the network hash rate.  This risks forking the blockchain.

August 5, 2013 Update:

The CGB team is pleased to announce an improved client! We have identified and fixed an issue with the PoS reward system as well as added in new security checkpoints. In order to give users an opportunity to update their clients, we have set this update to take place at block number 59,700. This block will occur Wednesday morning in EST time. Please update your clients immediately! We apologize for the inconvenience and had contemplated holding back on this update, however, we determined that the benefits outweighed the hassle and this was best handled right away.
Please download the updated clients in OP.

Wasn't this something that Maged mentioned previously was "favortism" to a particular coin?

Was there any guidelines specified on stickies for specific coins or certain circumstances in which it was deemed "okay"?

I could be completely off. This is just from memory.

Interesting comment considering all of the coins listed are alive and well!

We certainly are honored to be one of the 12 scrypt currencies selected by this service. We have an extremely fluid and quick difficulty adjustment to compensate for additional hashes and dedicated nodes to help prevent forking.

Welcome CGB community to the big time!

Your comments make no sense. Multipool will be mining CGB at 700-800 Mh. This is a good thing for the coin long-term. You should only be worried if nobody is mining it.

If so... I like, believe in and hold some of each. I see quality products which I believe in enough to invest my own money into. Hope this helps.

Just look at for example DGC,ARG,WDC. No need to be genius to conclude what is obvious. Miners "constantly" mining those coins are less and less. Once they hop on the coin and raise difficulty no one wants to mine coin with high difficulty.

Difficulty adjusts every 2 blocks.

I know and that is great. We will see soon in the practice. I do not have anything against this coin, that is why i am telling you my concerns...

The same moment they will start to mine it this coin will be dead. Good bye CGB, it was nice to knowing you...

I will not guess or predict

While it was an uneducated, baseless guess...you did, nonetheless, make a guess moments before informing us you "will not guess or predict."

Anyway, if I'm understanding you correctly, I completely disagree with everything you said.

It is your problem that you are disagree and you have right to be. You know that the ability to speak doesn't make you intelligent? My guess is based on facts what happend with some of the coins after Multipool started to mine them.

What is your proof that it was Multipool's fault ? Just saying it doesn't make it so.

And then when no-one wants to mine with high difficulty, the difficulty drops, then everyone wants to mine because it switches to LOW difficulty. None of this has nothing to do with multipool.

Some coins are not switching difficulty every 2 blocks. You should know that, right? It needs a lot of time and hash power to reach lower difficulty, and once it has been reached multipool attacks again. So why bother at all. I can see that you are a multipool member so your denial is understandable.

OK so a coin reaches a "low" difficulty. With your logic we should leave it alone and not mine it. Ok i get it now.

 ;D For sure Multipool will not mine a coin with higher difficulty, which means you neither. Multipool are leaving the coin on a higher difficulty waiting for a "profitable drop" and relying on other miners to lower it, at least we agree on something :o.
If that's not funny it would be regrettable.

Your statement that multipool will not mine a coin with higher difficulty is incorrect. It doesn't have anything to do with difficulty per say. It has to do with profitability. Mulitpool will mine a coin even at high difficulty as long as its profitable. It could be profitable because the price skyrocketed. Would you mine bitcoin right now with your 4 GPU's ? You could, if you want to break even. I'm not here to break even, I'm here to find the most profitable coin to convert to bitcoin. I think multipool suits me just fine. I don't always use multipool. I'll go to another pool if theres a coin thats more profitable.

It is your problem that you are disagree

This is a problem I'm going to live with.

Some coins are not switching difficulty every 2 blocks. You should know that, right?

This is all completely irrelevant. CGB does switch difficulty every two blocks and, if I'm not mistaken, that's what we're talking about here. Not that the rest of your nonsense would really make sense regardless...but just admit you didn't know how rapidly CGB re-targeted and lets move on.

No need to be genius

Clearly

the pool doesn't effect the coin.  With the linear difficulty, if the entire pool of miners stopped mining, difficulty would drop in 2 blocks...

It has no effect other than it makes it harder to mine while the hashrate is high.

FYI, CGB was just Multipool'd and is still alive! Difficulty adjusted beautifully and Multipool switched to NVC (also not dead).

I'm in shock that killdemon was wrong -- seemed like he had really done his research, too!  :D
