At mcxnow someone said the pool has a vulnerability that is exploited by a few people, something with submitting lots of worthless but valid shares after doing a small mod to the miner, can someone confirm or deny?

Tough call. I have looked at their source a bit, and I couldn't find anything, but then again. I am not a networking genius... I will ask around, and have some people investigate. As of right now, all is good, and I know many people who are earning XPM from it. Thanks for the heads up ~

You can monitor stats in your own personal account at yPool.net - Login to your account and click stats to see all blocks being mined for the pool.. for your personal stats, it will be in the top right corner of the website.

It will say Hi, tadakaluri with Balance and Unconfirmed balance underneath it.

You will start earning (unconfirmed) balance for now until you reach more confirmations, and it turns into a balance.

For Example (here is my stats as of now)
Balance 0.319935 XPM    
Shares: 17   Unconfirmed: 7.041719 XPM

Seems to be working very nicely, but I have worries that this will not be profitable thing to do

0.01 btc per day cost is 1.1 XPM
so within 6 hours need to get 0.275 XPM

So far I have got 0.037689 unconfirmed and only 4 hours left, so in next four hours I need to get ~0.24 xpm

In about one hour I've got 5 shares and 0.012 XPM.  I would need 100 hours at this step to get 1.1 XPM ... Maybe the pool has been unlucky. Let's see in 5 more hours ...

Review 1000pps option

Will start with good news - those guys have done incredible job, everything went so smoothly and can't see any problems with their service. Somebody - please buy them bear :)

And continue with bad news:
1000pps cost per 24 hours is 0.01 BTC, which is ~ 1.1 XPM

My 6 hour free ride would normally cost 0.275 XPM

In those 6 hours with 1000pps I got 49 shares and 0.080096 XPM unconfirmed

That is I got 3.4 times less profit that I would pay for service


Will bigger pps service pay off? not sure, but somebody could review.

The problem is - 10 times higher pps will probably give you 20 times more XPM, but 10,000 pps is 10 times bigger and costs 20 times more, so we are back to square 1


My opinion - great service, cost probably is adequate, but XPM difficulty vs price is not, therefore currently you will loose a lot of money, with profit more than 3 times smaller than service cost.

Totally different ball games. Exchange is short term, and its hit and miss.

Mining with our route is like having employees working under you... you just tell it where to go, and they get the job done. What I love about the pool is we have alot of strength on the network, and we are earning no matter what. It's tough sitting on no blocks solo mining because a big shark is taking over.  At least now you can have a few more fishes to eat and some extra, rather than no fish at all.

I have some good news to announce. We have launched the first batch of orders of 20k pps and almost sold out of the second batch. I am seeing valid shares coming through and it is only going to increase as it rolls. Its a +1 cycle system.

Our free 6 hours trial was short and sweet... And it was there to try. We kept some 6 hour accounts live for them to continue trying and this was random as we at Host for bit, drew 5 names out of a hat to give some users up to 4 hours extra. P

We will let you know when that trial is back but as of now its 1000 pps for 0.01/btc a day

Overall, we have more good news. We are working closely to optimize our systems and port routing to try and enable a much faster speed and processing rate for each pps that it outputs. If successful, users may see a jump of 5% increase in valid shares per round.

Here's my report: I've been given a bit more than 11 hours of free usage of basic service.

Mined 0.270814 XPM during that time, meaning I would probably get ≈ 0.270814 / 11 * 24 = 0.59 XPM for 24h usage.
That usage costs 0.01 BTC ≈ 0.01 / 0.00842772 (current mcxNOW rate) = 1.18 XPM.

It gets down to this: you pay 1.18 XPM/day to earn 0.59 XPM/day. Thanks for free trial, but there is no logic for me to pay for the service.

Working now, 0.36btc for 14000pps

To anybody actually paying attention to primes in the past two weeks..  I really hope you guys know that this is not worth your BTC AT ALL!!!  you will pay for it and never make ur btc back let alone make any kid of gains from it!

20k PPS could be setup at DigitalOcean for ~$7/day, and you're charging ~$48/day. Even at DO's low rates, it's barely profitable now at the current difficulty and exchange rate. Terrible deal, if you ask me.

Althought at this moment I think that using this service will not give profit on current XPM prices, let's be fair, biggest (not on front page) DigitalOcean option of 8 CPU's, which costs $6/day gives ONLY 4500 pps. I know that because I did test run on it for 24 hours, 2 days ago.

They never said how good processors they have, 8 x pentium1 isn't the same as 8 x newest xeon

These aren't being mined to flip for quick profits overnight. XPM is a long-term goal setter. Today, Bitcoin was announced with great news on Channel 7 ABC news, and boy did they have good things to say. Primecoin isn't at the same level, and probably still in speculation mode, but make sure you have some coins at hand once our next world record is broken. I am not an exchange expert but I watch it enough to see how it is going.

Wow, that is something crazy, I don't think you can find 50,000 pps anywhere else except for amazon (but their pricing is worse)

Some people have seen my first review which didn't make much mathematical sense to mine XPM, so let's see what numbers say to us now.

Notice: This is only my opinion only, if you have different opinion - that is fine, it's called democracy. If you think that you need to shout or call people bad words so further generations know that you had opinion - don't. NSA has it recorded in their data centers, so you don't need to worry about it anymore.

Yesterday after my 6 hour test drive HostForBit team was nice enough to allow me few more hours to run on more optimised service, so numbers have improved and I will try to do theoretical review of new prices and primes per second.

From both runs I have gathered basic numbers running on low pps machin that you get ~0.336 XPM per day

1) smallest 6,000pps
Theoretically you should get 2.016 XPM
And you should pay 0.04 BTC = ~4.9 XPM
You pay about 2.43 times more than you earn

2) crazy one 50,000pps
Theoretically you should get 16.8 XPM
And you should pay 0.57 BTC = ~70 XPM
You pay about 4.16 times more than you earn

Sounds bad? Yes it is, but wait, there is a catch
First - As XPM is high difficulty coin, more pps on same worker means much higher rate to find shares. To simply increase is not linear, it's curve! with not precise numbers, if you switch from 10pps to 20pps you don't get 2 times more shares, you get 3 times more shares, get the idea?
Second - as bigger pps as more full blocks you will find, which again increases your income.

So what it means?

If you want to play around - great, but with smallest options you probably will not get profit, only experience. When you go over 10,000pps things get unpredictable, there is no mathematical way to say if you will get profit or if you will loose, probability error gets huge and it becomes more like gambling. Everything is in hands of Tyche (statisticians and historians will understand, check wikipedia)

So to speek, what I am sure about is that HostForBit team is great, they have done great job, they are doing great job now and most likely will do even more great things in future. Their service is not something to worry about or gamble about, they simply do great job. Regarding XPM think for yourself, every digital coin itself is gambling that it will get higher value in future, and this type of mining is also gamble if you will be lucky enough you will get nice or even incredible profit, if you are not you will loose badly.

A bit more than 10 hours, total of 0.073274 XPM mined.
It is an awesome service but I must have had horrible luck. With the same PPS I've been averaging over 100% more shares.

Awesome review, and yes, it is only an opinion.

The one thing is, as mentioned in OP, primecoin isn't a get rich currency. In fact, we are only missing few more world records until this begins to really go places. None of us can predict ROI or what you will earn with XPM mining overall. Currently, you have to be very lucky with SOLO mining to even mine a block a week. Also, it is hard for you to judge for the future of YPool, as our services is in conjunction with them. The pool is growing daily, and we are reaching huge blocks left and right. The stats page explains it. I started when the pool had only 10 workers, and now we are alive and kicking with what looks to be over a million PPS working for it. If you aren't part of it now, you will be in the future, but this will only help you earn more shares, as the network grows, and more PPS is working in its favor.

We don't know what ROI will bring, however, you can't really mine Bitcoin in 2011, and expect to see $266 in just under 2 years... no one saw that coming, even the experts.

Thanks for your words of wisdom, and I would like to agree in some level, however, all this is theory, and mining is another open door to what possibly can lead to a future..

You and I can't say what this will be, how much money you will make off each coin, or what shares you will start receiving and how fast...

End game: Go where the money is at... For a coin that is a little over 2 weeks old, and reaching a 0.018 [BTC/XPM] rate, I would like to take my chances, we got more to see from primecoin, far beyond what litecoin has been only trying to do for months, except primecoin broke that in about 2 weeks... Don't forget, litecoin wasn't too far from 0.01 BTC/LTC not too long ago, and at least primecoin has been consistent overall. Don't mind the ups and downs, every coin gets it, but the end game is... if you are holding AT THE RIGHT TIME, get ready to make some money.

My review concentrates only on what is going on right now, and main probability of getting something right now. Whole digital coins world is a gamble on the fact that these things will change the world. Although I think we all can agree that they already have done first wawe of change :)

To clarify for everyone - gambling is not bad thing. Everybody gambles on their ideas and hopes for future. I don't mean that gamble when you take out your kids college fund and go to Vegas to loose money (probability error there is very small - house always wins)



At this moment I am not mining XPM, but I am trading. By trading I mean - I am buying on exchanges and sending to my primecoin wallet :D Yes I too think that Primecoin has huge potential and I am willing to take that risk. But to be responsible - think for yourself if you are ready to do gambling or not. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs gambled and they succeeded and changed the world, many other didn't. Be responsible, I mean don't take out your college fund :)

I'm about to set a bounty for a decent metric of PPS to XPM,  can't argue about that now.

Scalability,,,  why is the 6000pps for 0.04btc cheaper than the larger ones?

One person cannot own more than 1 account with us. Instead of offering 1K or 2K pps for 0.01/btc or 0.02/btc, we decided to double the value, for the lower price to start.  

Why it is cheaper than the larger ones? In what sense? People cannot duplicate or order a package more than once, and the larger ones achieve more at a faster rate.

I actually liked your post, until that last line. I will not tolerate cursing and unprofessionalism in this thread.  You have a simple choice, take it or leave it.  I am not forcing you to buy our service, nor am I claiming you going to be a millionaire ... I think we have been the happy medium of a lot of things in the right direction, and trust me, I've seen a lot of failures come and go around here.  History speaks for itself, and I have plans that don't repeat itself. How do I have screenshots of our PPS rates, if I am not mining myself? Our network has reached a threshold of 500,000 PPS going to the network... but I don't need to brag or mention that to make a few sales.

The thing that bothers me the most is, you don't care about your integrity... if you don't, then you can't hold yourself to the truthful standard, then who is to say they should even listen to you.

I have a good feeling you are someone with multiple accounts on bitcointalk, and only time will tell, but hey, It sounds like you got a lot of time on your hands, maybe you should grab a book and educate yourself on how to communicate with a manner where people will give you the time of day.

To answer your question :
Amazon EC2 is the low end metric of profitability because it can scale to 2000+ instances with a few clicks (once your request for more than 100 is approved).

A C1 instance that produce ~3500 PPS* cost 0.07c an hours or 1.68$ a day.

2.38 C1 for 0.04 BTC = 8700 PPS for one day.

*(far from accurate, I might bother to run one with latest optimizations and report back)

Using ypool makes no sense, the profitability is much lower than solo mining. Your service should be mining time for solo instead. If it is too unpredictable you could average out the earnings and give a fixed (+10/-10%) return from the service.

I have been soloing for 3 days with 100k pps and haven't got squat. That might not be the best idea. lol

Turbo will kick it all up a notch to more PPS without paying extra for it.

An update ~ Before getting started, I want to THANK those who have been supporting us thus far, financially and verbally. We haven't billed anyone more than once at this time, and we are holding off on that until further notice, even though our packages are daily usage. We are still sending PPS for our paid users from two and three days back, as long as they made only 1 payment to 1 of our packages. It's been about 3 days, and first day users are still getting PPS for their accounts.  They are getting 3x of what they paid for, without paying additional days of usage. I think we are different, MUCH different than any VPS provider in this part. How? more on this in the RED font.

If you can show me your last 24 hours bill on any of these sites with proof of PPS per HOUR (for 24 hours run) and compare it with one of our packages, and show me the cost is less, I will match the price of that provider, and add 2,000 PPS extra on top of it. He got in touch with me through PM and asked me specifics about the problem. It is obvious maco has significantly improved the results I've gotten - the shares/hour count has increased significantly.

Also, there was no downtime on either of the tests. Constantly getting shares. A professional service run by a professional.

In the end, I would say it's a well-run service which delivers. And I'm yet to see the end result  :)

Everyday, we are investing in MORE, and MORE Servers. What does this mean for our network? more PPS without paying more.

We are a community network... which means, you aren't buying a VPS or HOSTING

You are contributing to the community network to expand our resources, hardware, and services of gaining you more PPS, which helps you, and everyone around us earn more XPM. No one would see that unless it was pointed out, and I am pointing it out now.

If you look at Every Host provider in the world, I would like to say, we are the first to be working as a NETWORK OF HOSTING to only increase overall network speed. If our network speed goes up, your speeds go up. This is (sort of like we are a POOL-CLOUD host, while dispensing PPS to ypool.net to each individual accounts.). We are not affiliated with ypool.net as of yet, so I am pointing that out too.  I am coming up with some more plans, and I am just hoping to get it to make financial sense all together.

How do I pay only for a day? 

Set up a coinbase account.

Once you're in the coinbase account, perform the following steps :

Click on "merchant tools" on the left
click on "Tools"
select payment type : donations , select any button, give it a name (i called it VPS) & then click on "generate button code"

you'll get a html code, just open up notepad, copy & paste the html code in it, save the notepad file as vps.htm on your desktop

Doubleclick the vps.htm on your desktop, click on "donate bitcoins", you'll get a new form

Select "send using a bitcoin address", send the coins to the generated address, et voila, within the hour the funds is available in coinbase to spend on the VPS :)

I would like to give you guys an update on how my experience has been so far with Host for Bit.


Thursday night I purchased  10k pps I believe for 0.20 btc. My shares are still coming in thanks to the awesomeness of Host for Bits! I have received +10 hours so far of extra time. During the 34 hours my miners has been running I have racked in about 4.5 XPM. at current exchange rate 0.04 btc.  I currently average about 1/ 400th of the shares of ypool with a payout of 0.025 on average per block. My investment currently has not paid of but I am pleased with helping Host for Bit, Prime coin, Bitcoin, and the workers on ypool. It could possibly pay itself off of we give it another 72 hours. I am please with this service and content with my investment. If anyone has any questions about my experience with either Host for Bits or Ypool, I would be happy to answer your questions.

Macro, is it possible for us to solo mine on your service?

I don't believe it will ever be profitable pool mining now as diff. is way above 9.

Profits are now mostly based on luck.

This is a great question, and I have only been in limbo for the past couple days, with very little sleep, thinking how we can improve everything to make it profitable in every sense of the way. In fact, solo has been on my mind, however, we would need to accept a much higher risk and possibly own a few thousand servers for this to work.  I can't say we are too far from it, but we can get close with the right funds and the right group of people investing.

For those considering this service, I shall point out that at 0.17 BTC per day for 15,000 PPS, you are paying x4 more than setting up the same miner with Linux on DigitalOcean droplet.

We are all learning in a sense and that includes me ;)

In a few short weeks maco has already accomplished two projects primecoin buzz and cloud mining service. I'd say he is among the most hardworking supporters of xpm. Whether his cloud mining service can be a profitable venture is up to the market to decide, but I very much appreciate his effort.

Thank you for taking the time to write this post, and I am really looking forward to serving the community with much more value. I am learning everyday too, and I am committed to the good of the community each and everyday.  Most of my motivation comes from being around the right people, and you have inspired me to start moving on the adoption side of things.  I believe Primecoin is only at the beginning of Breaking world records, and making history.

I know the media attention is coming, but as of now, I can only speculate, and we aren't too far from it. Update: YPool posted a new share system, and I think this will change the interface of what we were mining on, only to increase it for the legit players, and keep those botnets/cheaters so to speak, away from the system (I hope they can pull it off), and here is what they have to say..

We are working on a way to have it output more transparently. The thing is, we run an average of 2 servers per client depending on the route they are taking, and how much pps they requested. We soon should be implementing such functionality, if ypool works with us closely to allow for it. At this time, we recommend all users to monitor using a brand new account for our service. That way, you won't have stats concluding together from your other efforts/investments.

Ypool has changed their payout system, and we are seeing huge improvements so far. Shares are earning much more now from what others are reporting. Let's see how this goes... remember, our service is dependent on them. We have the resources to reach upwards of 30K pps on 1 server... and we hope ypool's new payout system gets it done for us.

Let me tell you what i've got out of this professional service..

So i've paid 0.04btc for 8k pps and after 12hrs mining on ypool i've got 0.09xpm lol

I mean I won't even be able to cash out whatever I'll mine cos of a min 2xpm withdraw limit :D

But its all good OP sent me 2xpm as a BONUS so I guess I'll be wearing XPM fanboy hat untill rate hits 0.02 btc/xpm to break even :D

Yes, that 2 XPM withdrawal limit is an ugly thing from the HostForBit side. They could easily limit it to one redraw a day if they wanted not to waist the (minimal) resources on large(?!?) number of payout transactions. This way it can only be seen as a way to collect pocket money from a lot of people letting HFB have what's left when they stop using the service. One day "free" trial was not free since no one could collect what's mined in that one day. Not that I long for < 1 XPM I've left them, as a matter of fact I've expected something like that since there is no free lunch in this world.

So, after 24 hours of mining, here's my takeaway.

Pros:

• The hoster is professional in his dealings. e.g. he had once forgotten to turn on my plan, so to compensate he gave me doubled PPS for a period of time.

Cons:

• Will never make positive ROI. In 27 hours of 6k PPS (at a rate of 0.032 BTC/day) I've made ~0.44 XPM, which is 2.8 mBTC at current prices. The loss ratio is over 90%. If anything, this only goes to show how unprofitable XPM really is right now.

Also... what sieve size and jhprimeminer are used for mining? Smaller sieve sizes raise PPS, lower sieve sizes drop PPS, but the share rate would stay approximately constant.

i hit 2 XPM blocks today, pretty sure they both came from HostForBit :)

Since the new system on ypool, my earnings have more than doubled.

Sorry everyone, I had an emergency that caused me to be away most of the day.

I am now back, and ready to take action. Last night, I couldn't sleep as we were working on some new changes.

We still have lots more to deliver everyone... so far, we have begun some updates, and we will see how it goes.  Still have 50% more remaining, and will keep you all updated.

ANNOUNCEMENT about LATEST yPOOL system changes!

ypool has made some drastic changes to their system, and now stats could take more time until they appear in your account.

From what we hear, ypool payout has a VALUE PER SHARE calculation.  Your Value/Share can be 1.0 up to 7.0 from what we are seeing as a result and hearing as feedback. This can potentially increase your earning rate by up to 30% -- however, this is not an exact quote, it is only speculation from our short tests. This is all new to everyone, and we are just at the beginning edge of what is yet to come from XPM mining.


BONUS: Host for bit will TIP you 2 XPM WHILE using our services with that worker and find a block within trial or paid period. This ends at 7/30/2013 12:00 PST

I think your prices need to be worked on.

I ordered the 32,000 PPS for a week package for .896 Btc.  I estimated that I needed around 100 XPM to make my ROI (or even get close) at current prices.  So far (in about 2 days) I have made 5.  At this rate I will have somewhere around 20 or 25 XPM by the end of the package, effectively losing about 75% of my investment.  This is just my observation so far, I think that this far in is a pretty good estimate of what I will make at this rate.

I am a little curious though as yesterday I was making more than .02 XPM per block, but today I am only getting around .01 to .015 per block.  Can anyone tell me with 32,000 PPS if this is abiout what I can expect to be getting as there is no way for me to determine if I am actually getting 32,000 PPS or not.

This is all my personal observation, owner is helpful and a nice guy, but prices are extremely high and at current levels people are dreaming if they think they will hit ROI.

Please understand the 2 XPM withdrawal limit is not us. Also, I am working on an agreement with ypool to see if our users can see a little bit of a bump in ROI... working on this as we speak. Remember, we don't know what is going on daily at this moment, since our services heavily work in conjunction to ypool's service.

I am now getting half of what I was getting yesterday, currently making about .006 per block.  Have only gotten about .5 of an XPM on the day.
