No crypto currencies are scam, everything is real. But the truth is that they will lose their value in some years this caused by decrease in the demand of the coin when days passes. So it is very important to pick the right coins by means of future usage.
Many coins are created for the sake of just earning money so they will left the coin without any development once they got enough profits from the project. So we have to pick the coins with good development team.

If you still want to invest on good coins you can pick the coins based on their market cap value so the chance of losing your investment might be less.

There were some cryptos in past which later turned into scam projects but almost cryptos are legitimate these days because people are now aware and can easily detect intention behind project. You should carefully choose a good project by doing research on their development team, social media profiles, roadmap, etcitra. An example of successful and carefull team is Postoken.org, Soferox.com

Most Crypto-Currencies are created with the intent of bumping its price fast without legit demand and then it dumps forever, or after some pumps and dumps it finally dumps forever and the currency is dead. I think that would be the "scam" you talk about?

It's hard to escape this kind of AltCoin if you are looking for AltCoins in general, the safest way to avoid going through this path would be by investing in well known currencies, those who you have sure the demand isn't fake, those currencies traders are using in a daily basis. And if you want to try a strange AltCoin that is being launched soon and that promises huge profit, make sure to find more informations about the project and look for opinions about it, if you have doubts in particular about an AltCoin/project, ask about it.

I think you need to analyze first if the project is good. If it regularly updates or not. Moreover, if you have some background in dev, make sure to scrutinize the site or platform first before buying a coin from that site. Do some extra research if you must. If it's a super duper new coin with very few feedback, do not invest in any coin yet. If you want to invest, do not put a big amount of money in that coin. Make sure your investments in coin are spread out in case something happens.

And read whitepaper and look at roadmap. See if developers did what they planned on roadmap in past, did they delivered or not. Look too at github do they have lot of commits.

Even a scam coin have some value so if you are playing on them thru trades, then you must know that chances that you might be wrecked on the way is possible. There are people who plays even on a shit and scam join because their purposes is only to take advantage of the volume and not on the technology of that cryptocurrency itself. Risky after all.

If we about to point on crypto project that undergoes crowdfunding, you can't really say at first if they are scam because at most of the cases, their roadmap and future developments are really promising at all and the technology behind on that coin is so unique. So for me, to minimize somehow the risks, they must be transparent all the way. My main consideration is they must establishing a regular seminars and meetups, media appearances and everything related to that.

So for your own safety, learned also to make a self research before throwing money on a specific coin. Reading community's feedback about that specific coin might help you as reference.

Read their whitepaper. Check their developers. Ask questions about their token and its primary purpose. Though none of these might totally let you know if the coin is a scam or not as at first none of them are scam, but you will have the slightest idea if the project is worth investing in or not if you check these things before. One more sign that I see a lot of times that makes it suspicious is the promotional rewards are way higher then how much they should be. It probably means they are trying to attract more people to advertise their service and let the coin get some value and then they might take the money collected from ICO and run away with it.

Of course there are scams, there have been cases of scammers copying everything from a project, even the whitepaper and getting a lot of money and then disappearing, to me the most important thing to know if a project is a scam are the developers, investigate them, are they who they say they are, do they have the experience they claim, if anything is fishy then do not invest, if everything is all right you still need to look for other things but having good developers is a must for a project to have a chance of success.

In my view some ico try to promote their projects sending pm and requesting to invest on their ico without having even an Ann thread. This lets me think that those were scam coins, but haven't thought of making an investment and experiment the truth.

Almost all the cryptocurrency is right. Only few of them even below 1% we say that scam. Actually they are not in the scam rather losing their value because of massive degradation of demand and not in use. So, while a business is not demanded in the market how their business makes the money and the value of share. These tokens are like a company share. So, the value is reflected on it. Also, these occurs may be the company's brand value of degradation or the business is not done well.

One of the things that I look for when a cryptocurrency has a potential to be a scam is a coin like bitconnect. When a coin has a guaranteed return then it would be like a ponzi scheme because nothing is guaranteed when it comes to crypto. There are many lending coins that are emerging nowadays and I can see that most of them has a scheme like bitconnect so avoid this kind of coins. In this forum alone, you can check the sentiment of the people in a coin by looking at their post in the announcement topic of the coin. You can also check those ICO rating sites if they have a good outlook of the coin.

I dont know what part of the world you came from but you need to read up and learn a lot more, not just about cryptocurrencies, but learn more about the world in general.

The truth is, cryptocurrencies are an easy medium for scammers to create ponzi schemes.

More of like some ICO projects are scams but the currency itself is legit. It's just after the ICO stage devs abandon the project with the outsource funds, leaving the currency unregulated.

Interacting with their team is probably the best way to decide whether a project is legit. Ditto on at the whitepaper, roadmap and bogus airdrops. Most of the time if a coin is airdropping a huge number of coins, it just shows that they don't value their own coin very much. If they did they wouldn't be throwing handfuls of it away...

It base on the development like they spread that for free so the price go grow and if it's going down then you can call it scam coin because if it's go down like the price go no value then turn to scam or token also,You can also check it if the developer is already trusted here in crypto so youcan trust that but for i think if they give some free then i try their coins or it's already in some exchanger.

if you want to play it safe in digital currency,
is a bitcoin that has a great chance to make a profit and not a SCAM.
but if you want to gain multiple benefits,
look for a promising project because there can be very visible if the project is potentially a scam

I think its the ICO that you should be looking out for when considering which ones would be a scam or not. As for that, I check about them through their whitepaper, their developer and what they have to offer. But for the right cryptocurrency, to prevent myself from scam, I usually invest in the top 10-50 coins listed in coinmarketcap website. Its the only way I don't loss, though there is still a tendency to loss.

All cryptocurrency are good, but as the time goes by its value decrease or gone. Because of some reasons.
So to avoid that, we should check first the cryto currency we will going to invest with. Check all the information you need to know if that crypto is good or not.
And try to invest or join in a ico that has a good or trusted developers. In that way we can avoid some scam ico.

cryptocurrencies which is offering lending service with daily or weekly profit more than 10% i think this is could be identified as scam cryptocurrencies because basically they're running MLM or Ponzi scheme impersonate cryptocurrencies and currently i saw several altcoin has properties just like this and people have to avoid them because basically cryptocurrencies does not offering the profit for the particular time

Its not the simple. There were many projects in the past that had a well written whitepaper and looked legit that turned out to be the biggest scams, no only is the cryptocurrency world, but the whole world in general. Bitconnect is one good illustration of how scammers can get millions from ignorant people.

This begs the question, are we qualified to determine if an ICO is a scam or not?

No crypto currencies are scam, everything is real.
No, there are coins/projects that are scam like this one CEO of cryptocurrency firm that disappeared with $375,000 of investor money lied about his employment. (https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/23/confido-ceo-who-allegedly-pulled-375k-scam-lied-about-employment.html)
Cryptocurrency Company That Scammed Investors Was Run by Fake People. (https://www.thedailybeast.com/cryptocurrency-company-that-scammed-investors-was-run-by-fake-people)
So how can you tell that all cryptocurrencies are real?

Or is there any other way so we can check about respected crypto might be it'll work?
This is why DYOR is applicable all the time. It's hard to to determine if they are legit in the first place not until someone, a good scam buster will find it out that the devs are fake, the whole road map and white paper is fake. If you want to be safe for your money, buy those long lived crypto's - bitcoin, ETH, LTC, etc.

To identify the scam of cryptocurrency you have to analysis very clearly about its whitepaper and developer team. I think it's not an easy task for identifying a scam project because every project is seemed to be a lucrative project so be careful about choosing an ICO among the over 1500 ICO in this blockchain system.
But if you go through their whitepaper very carefully then you can realize their motivation, so you have to justify according to your wits and experience otherwise you will face a losing project.

If you want to putting your money.. on the basic of the general investment on cryptos, just pick the coins that are really more popular when compared to another coins and has been attracted by many investors/traders, or pick some coins are on the top 10 cryptos on the market, this is definitely can more be avoid a scam coins and it's obviously can providing to get chance a profit investments.

Well if you've intend to invest in an ICO, looks there are already solutions here, in essence just choose that's looks more trusted.

Good thing if it's an existing company already
Also some sources might help you - like cointelegraph youtube channel they post for their 'altcoin of the week' only pretty legit coins :)

The practical problem with most of highly established coins is, they are not providing good returns compared to what we are gaining with new coins. That is the reason people are always looking for new projects to risk their money. But all the new projects are not yielding good returns which makes your idea as good one to follow.

Investing only with top 10 coins must be a good idea but that should be long term based because only after holding for years we can get some reasonable profits with them whereas new coins are known for high profits at the same time many of them might be scam coins too.

Scams do exists with cryptocurrency, it is an unfortunate circumstances. But I think at the
ICO stage alone you have that vague opportunity to determine if there's a slight chance or
potential for the coin to be bad. You can always do research before participating and prevent
yourself from being scammed. A good team with a promising project could do wonders for
that coin once it gets listed on trading platforms.

How would you know? Then by doing of "Researching" which this is only the way that you will able to identify if a coin or project do have potential or not and we do all know that this is the hardest part to be done on this cryptocurrency world due to lots of coins to be invest on. Most of them are trash or just copying others features which doesn't even have the uniqueness compared to others. Only potential ones do survive for long term and as an investor its our obligation to choose up which we do see that we can able to make money.

Checking development team would be one of the good move while we are looking to invest on new ICO but along with that you have to read the complete white paper information. they used to publish on their ICO ann thread. You may find the complete focus of their in that file.
So it would be helpful to judge the potential project which can be used long lasting by the various crypto currency users.
If there is escrows such as lauda or coinpayments in the token distribution. You can check with them about the project too.

I hope we cannot conclude by seeing the white paper because there are many other things that need to check before investing and team, community etc. Each company has owned their identical phase to verify whether they can prove themselves after raising enough money whether they can develop or not.

Its very difficult to distinguish which is the scam coin, thats why I recommend to choose the much stable coin to invest.Mostly they are on the top ten list in the crypto market and by doing that you would able to lessen the risk of your investment.

Yeah sometimes the best thing to do is to not invest in the ico phase and wait until there is something more solid, the problem with that strategy is that is going to be impossible to obtain the profits many are dreaming when they think of investing in icos but if the project is any good getting huge profits will still be possible by investing in the early stages of the development.

You will never know if the crypto is scam or not. You can check their spreadsheet if it is updating or not you also check some review on their projects. You can also check how many join the project we can never tell until the project ends. So someone reported about that project. Your the only one who can figure out the best crypto. You cannot depend on the suggestion of the other people, they can never tell you the right or wrong crypto even them they cannot tell the right and wrong crypto.

If you are that worried about choosing the wrong coin to invest then invest in the coins with the highest market cap, of all the coins at the top the only one I'm not convinced is cardano it seems like a good project but I do not think it deserves to be that high, but most other projects seem to be very solid and are not scams that are going to steal your money.

Generally sites on the internet only use paypal as a payment system.
I found a lot of bitcoin based cheating whether it is cloud mining, invest, HYIP, money duplicator, and traffic exchange.
One of the easiest ways to view site templates, generally sites that deceive templates copy paste from the original site.

It turn to scam because the developer of the coins can't handle the coins another thing is if the coins not become popular to many users i'm sure it will turn to no value in the future,it also needs a lot of money so i think some developer create that actually to scam other for their own good.

As of now there are 1500+ cryptocurrency exists in the world.
Many dead many rising and many has to come.
So how can i know the currency  ,where i am putting my money is not a part of scam?
Or is there any other way so we can check about respected crypto might be it'll work?
In what i have understand, you are trying to address on ICO, which are the upcoming cryptocurrencies. For the cryptocurrency that is already out as we all know are legits. But the ICO are different for some people are using ICO then running from their investors before the project gets to launch.
And on what i have learned, to identify how legit the ICO is to read their whitepaper and check if it is close to reality.
Check the soft cap and the hard cap observe if the project have potential on reaching it.
Check the team members behind the project and look for their profiles on social media. Some other doesn't post their profiles though.
Find a whole of their project and ask questions.
And dont get tempted by high ROI without really knowing the project.

Hope this will help you.

Yes, this is a very difficult issue. Since the cryptocurrency market was born, analysts have identified and judged that investment is fragile and unstable. However, this is a great opportunity and potential. Create the interest of investors. That creates scam threats on the cryptocurrency market. ICOs are difficult to probe and oversee in the cryptocurrency market. In addition, some issues of hacker attacks also indirectly cause serious consequences for cryptocurrency.

Stick with the coin that have a good active and experienced team. Mostly those are coins last long and always a succesful coin for a long term. Just dont buy if you think that the offer is too high and too good to be true, mostly those are characteristic of scam coin. And lastly avoid ponzi scheme like coin

In the world of crypto currency, there are number of people who are doing scamming and are getting the money from others by trying different kind of schemes.

The only thing which can help you to stay away from such kind of frauds and schemes in order to save our money is none other than that of having some good amount of knowledge about the things. If you will be a learned man, then things will be not much difficult for you.

Those bonuses are way to attract more investors to buy and join the ICO. Legit ones does have those bonuses and also a fake one will offer the same thing.
For me, I think the whitepaper is the best place to check if the company is really something that is valuable it really true to its promise. Scam are just promising high return and it will drop hard for sure.
Whitepaper is still not enough to know if an ICO is scam. But there are some hints when you have read everything on whitepaper still its hard to identify if a coin is just a scam but with the help of the concerned citizen in the community, we can bust them out.

Too much crypto money is not a bad thing, but over time the non-original crypto money will decrease. The crypto money, which is the same as the one, does not give the user anything, the similar half of the 1,500 crypto money is similar.

Scammers are everywhere especially when it comes to that of the electronic world and the world that is there on internet. Since crypto currencies do need to have an internet, so they are more exposed to all the scammers and there are people who are trying out different sort of techniques in order to become the owner of the coins which are actually od someone else. All of us definitely need to be well aware of such kind of people in order to keep our bitcoins safe.

Transparency, decentralization, has been alluded to by the cryptocurrency carrier project. No one will ever know of a certain ICO if it is a scammer or a true ICO. But for me a specific ICO is real if it has a website and a Whitepaper and has a roadmap. That is the thing I consider to verify if this is not a scam.

Detecting early will become possible only if a crypto currency is coming from a known team of scammers. Other than that there would be no significant methods to find out which coin will be successful and which one may go scam. That is the reason many people are afraid to invest with new projects.

But, when a new project is coming up with strong concepts and backed with a good team then we can freely go for investing with them. Still, anything may change over the course of time so we need to invest only what we can afford on the event of losing.

I do always ask for the opinion from my group of friends. Only based on their suggestion I do choose ICOs. So far, they are all good with their predictions which helped me making some decent returns out of my investments.

Looking at the white paper and road map will not help to find out if the ICO is just a scam and doesn't have intention to move forward with what they are planning.

The only way to know if a project is a scam through this
Detecting early will become possible only if a crypto currency is coming from a known team of scammers.
Scammers will be scammers and if they are done with their past scam coin, they will generate a new one to scam more money.

There are some crypto currency that are made to scam people in order to make profit so they make it crowd funded and when they reach their desire market cap it turns into a scam. But you can check if a project is legitimate by doing some researching checking they're development team, White paper, if the token can be merchandise and has good technology to it.

if you want to play it safe in digital currency,
is a bitcoin that has a great chance to make a profit and not a SCAM.
but if you want to gain multiple benefits,
look for a promising project because there can be very visible if the project is potentially a scam
Bitcoin is the safest bet that is true and with the current price this seems like the perfect opportunity to enter the market but at the same time if you are a true investor then that means we are always looking for opportunities to make the most money in the shortest amount of time, so the best strategy is to invest some of your money in bitcoin and the rest in altcoins and the proportion will depend in the amount of risk you want to take.

It's really difficult to make sure which cryptocurrency could be a scam. You have to go through very attentively of every cryptocurrency's whitepaper. Also, their team combination would be a symptom regarding this issue. So that if you really want to invest your money then you have to select some of the top currency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin cash, Bitcoin gold, Litecoin and so on.

I think over experiment would cause a matter of disaster in this platform. So that you have to stay with recognised and popular cryptocurrency regarding investment and saving. that's why Bitcoin and Litecoin would be the best choice for making an investment.

Check if the volume is high enough and if the team is active. If they are releasing new roadmaps, partnerships and newer versions of wallets then they are very serious to make their project successful. If they don't have all those things then it can be considered as a scam.

But sometimes at the ico level, you can't really know their genuity. They flag off with high hopes but at the time of being listed in an exchange, they die down. Meaning they made enough of their money and never bordered to continue.

Basically, I think you can know a good coin when they have their own separate wallet be it web or separate blockchain. Also when in exchange, you observe an addition of coin in the max supply - you just know something is fishy. For example, we all know bitcoin has 21million as max supply. So, any time you observe an additional coin to that, you can begin to look for an exit door.

I don’t think it is easy to tell which cryptocurrency will end being a scam or which one is the best. All I do is invest in cryptocurrencies that has reputation and not the new ones without reputation. I know that the new ones may turn out to be a success tomorrow,  but I don’t care,  I’d rather invest when it's late and safe.

Investing into multiple coins with little amount into them will be some what a better way to safe guard us from not losing all the money at once and at the same time, we will not miss any good project too.

I use this forum to check is some ico is a scam or not, other than that I use my common sense when I read their white paper and road map, if they promise too much I am running out, if not I think its OK. There is no other way to check new ico , maybe if you know development personally that changes everything.

I definitely agree on your point in here which scammers are evolving into much better and better as the days goes by. If they are being busted up in the past they would create another one which would really be look so legit even experienced users on scam incidents do still have the chance on getting scammed by them again. This is why we should really make some research anytime we do decide to invest.

There are also projects that even they have an existing road map they tend to be scam at the very end of their promotion. Finding out a token that is scam nowadays is getting harder, especially those coins that are totally into coming out as a privacy coin.

But to find out if they tend to be a scam, its impossible to find it out at the very beginning of their promotion.

Look closely on their progress and people who are behind their team so that you can find it out if they are legitimate working class or those names are just copied somewhere and their pictures are robbed elsewhere on internet.

In fact, the ICO level is even the easiest time to flag down a project that is a scam or not. One thing I always say to people is that if your mind is not comfortable with the project and you are seeing the investment you are about to do as a gamble, then do not gamble it.

You can just wait for the project to hit the market, see how it fairs, which is if you have the desire to still want to hold. The team that has worked on a project before and have an old profile with some reputations on linkedin cannot be compared to a team that just opened a professional account. That is a clue to always detect fast before even considering digging further.

Scam coins are the ones that have:

a) no website or website that is shady looking
b) no trace to the team (though some good ones have anonymity)
c) no clear objective for the coin or problem to address (use case)
d) sell coins or tokens without project updates to provide

It's not just one of these but has to be a combination to contextualize that a coin is more or less a scam.

Their website is not secure and don't be deceived by the looks. There are beautiful interfaces that turned out to be a website of a scam coin.

b) no trace to the team (though some good ones have anonymity)
Scams are also grabbing photo's out of nowhere and use it as part of their team.

c) no clear objective for the coin or problem to address (use case)
And they are adding that they are the best and will replace bitcoin soon.

d) sell coins or tokens without project updates to provide
A literal move of a scam.

All lending coin will turn into scam so if you don't want to lose your money you should take care about the system of any coin before you invest. I have not seen an ico asking for private keys but any ico doing that should be immediately labeled as a scam since there is not a reason for them to be asking that, and if anything you should get out of that website immediately and run a virus scan in your computer just in case, however it is very likely that a website doing that is not an ico and instead is a phishing site trying to steal coins from naive people.

Lol, I haven’t heard or seen anyone say such. By the way, I don’t think signature campaigns should be regarded as scam. There is no way you’re getting scammed in signature campaigns, and my reason for saying that is that when you’re into signature campaign, you invest no money, rather you just post and get paid, that’s all.

I don’t really think so that any of the crypto currency can be scammed but in case such kind of thing happens, then there is no such way which can tell you regarding any kind of scam. You can only get to know about that once you fall victim of that particular coin. For that, you need to be very much careful before taking any such step which can then take you towards your disaster. Know the things well and then make a decision.

I wonder why people go through whitepaper a lot first. That should be like something that should be done after you have checked if the cryptocurrency have a viable project and a good team of developers that are working pretty hard and active. That alone should cover most of the things you need.

The whitepaper will just give you a broaden knowledge of the project as a whole and some of the roadmaps. Normal common sense will tell one a project to run away from and the one to stay glued to.

As of now there are 1500+ cryptocurrency exists in the world.
Many dead many rising and many has to come.
So how can i know the currency  ,where i am putting my money is not a part of scam?
Or is there any other way so we can check about respected crypto might be it'll work?

The first one you must know what's the prospect of a project in later years. How to know? You can learning in road map and whitepapers since ICO release. how can you invest money in a unknown place and you do not learn anything about project plan ICO in the future? Be a smart investor dude.

I believe you will never know exactly which cryptocurrency is a scam, it is very difficult to trace scammers until they leave the limelight withour paying anyone. Well, maybe to avoid scammers in crytocurrency the first you can do is to read everything about their project. analize every information they have, from platform to road map, teams and developer. Maybe this way you can avoid scam project.

How you would able to know if the project do have potential or not if you dont read up the whitepaper? If you do mean about just seeing the summary or just the description then its not really completely a full basis that you would able to understand such project potential on just reading up few words of it. Having a transparent developer is one of the important things to check it out.

It so hard to find which cryptocurrency is Scam, but for me if the crypto have many discount gave and give-away that's sign of Scam. For you not to be Scam, I think you should search about the crypo you want to invest or you should just invest in the Top10 crypto in the world.
It is not so hard mate ! All you have to do is to just do some diggings on the project surrounding the cryptocurrency, the team, how well they have been working hard to stay relevant, the chances of them surviving and bringing good profits for holders in the long run and the chances of the product they have being usable.

There are a lot of coins or tokens that are not even in the top 100 with a low cap and there is a huge guaranty they will still do well, so it is left for each person to take their time for proper research on any coin.

The mischievous development has many ways to carry on the action as it happens lately within a period of 6 months around 3 types of crypto coins that can be said to die not worth it at all. I will not mention the name of the coin, how is Dev in action? Actually not too hard to read the way in the world of crypto You will hear the term ICO intent of coin ICO is a coin that once existed in the mine before its release to the public so that Dev coin owns own coins first, if Devcoin has collected coins first then at worried that the price of the coin reaches the peak point then Dev will sell all the coins that are then released without disturbing again, it will follow investors, miners, and coin holders and it is certain the coins will die. However not all coins of ICO do the same thing there are some coin remain active in the market and in forums

I think we can determine scam projects only in retrospective. But there are some indicators, for example the level of the project realization, its whitepaper and roadmap, functioning product etc.
Most of the ICO's are very professional when it comes road map, white paper and if you'll stay at the services section you can even see people who are offering this type of service who are specialize in creating those things.
Look at their team developers, you can say if they are real people and look for their references.

to avoid being scam , the most important that need to check their code on Github. Whether the code is available in github or not and check the blockchain is running or not. Next the team members whether their link to complete details is available on specific crypto website or not.

I saw many projects without team members details avoid this projects.

In particular, forms that ask for the same information as your wallet address and private key on your google form are strictly fraudulent.
You won’t even need a soothsayer to tell you that anyone asking you for your private key is fraudulent. Moreover, which sane ICO will even want to quickly give up their mission in such case when obviously people are not that gullible to fall for such crap ? That is even the last thing anyone should be looking for in terms of ICO level, as there are other major factors which are realistic like the team, the project and their plans for the future, but the team most especially.

Looking at the following can give you a good idea:
- Website
- Whitepaper
- Team members
- Github code and activities (commits, issues, etc.) on the account
- Social accounts

Note that this doesn't mean that, if a project has not made there code public on Github or doesn't have any well-known team members, then it is definitely a scam. But these do give you a good idea about the project.

I think that first of all you need to pay attention to the team, correctly compiled by White Paper and the website. And also how actively the team communicates with potential investors.
OPs talking about scam crypto not the project or ICO.
i think if a coin/token already existing in the blockchain i don't think that could be consider as a scam, crypto alone is not a scam but rather those promise or project presented by a team to the public which is for the purpose of ICO. Some ICO even after they release the coins/token there's not further development of the platform and we should be vigilant with those projects.

The problem of that strategy is that is very risky even if you invest in a coin you think will do fine in the future the truth is there is not a way to be sure you are going to get profits, by choosing specifically a coin that is not very good and that it could even a scam you are relying in your luck and in the fact the coins attracts enough hype so it begins to skyrocket and that does not take into account the morality of doing such a thing.

Read the white paper and see the roadmap. Check their developers for questions about their tokens and their main purpose.

If the cryptocurrency is not justified, it loses its value immediately.

If you mean ICOs, then you should make a complete research on their teams, their social media platform, investigate their profiles in LinkedIn but don't be fooled some of the profile still tends to be fake. You should also read their white paper, probably you might see if it may interest you to invest in. But be VERY careful, after all this, there are still some fake ICO that would pass all this and still be a scam. You just have to  be careful.

i have no idea if there are coins that are just a scam, if ever that coin is used in a scam ICO then maybe it really is a scam but coins that are used in paying for good ICO projects then it is not a scam instead it has a promising future ahead, means it will probably increase its price in the future. I knew some coins but with low price you can think of most of the coins as real or not scam but will they last for a few months or year because maybe they will lose its value in the future. I suggest just invest in coins that has a valuable price and some coins that have high price such as bitcoin and ethereum.

The truth is that there is no way to find out, unless someone else or you yourself falls victim of scam in that site. Even if you make research, you will only find out whether an exchanger or ICO is a scam from people that reported as case of being scammed online by them. That’s why I’m not used to all these new stuffs that claims to give heaven and earth, they’re all fake.

I prefer the old popular ones in the market. Another way to find out if an exchanger is scam or not is from what they promise in return. Some of them will claim that if you deposit $100, you will $10,000 in a week. Wow, what type of organization would give such an amount? It’s a SCAAAMMM!!!!!!

never invest in individual altcoin as they are majority scam ,developing from scratch is very difficult so majority of project go for token base ,usually these scam have been reduced compared to previous as people invest in project which are escrowed funds, always make sure to invest in project which have good team and are using escrower and avoid scam link.

You can always find out. You do not need to fall victim or someone else should fall victim, the handwriting is always written all over the wall and it just requires some little research on your part to be able to get that done.

Most people who have fallen victim are always the ones who blindly invest in a project without checking out if they are qualified or not. Have you checked the team, do they have a product, do they have any past achievements, do they have what to look forward to regarding development ? All these are the questions you need to always ask.

Hey, in my opinion, investing in ICO's is a bit dangerous... most of them are scammers. So in case you are planning to invest in a ICO, make sure you do your research. Get to know more about the project, their team, check their website... Try to check every single thing, that way you will reduce the risk of losing your money due to a scam. Hope it helps!  ;D
at least from this there is no means to protect yourself from fraud. Even with full information about the Project, you can still be deceived. Scammers also know what they are doing and trying to be as convincing as possible.

Definitely, some of them succeed on their ICO but failed to work for their project after that. It's hard to tell now which ICO's are legit cause most of them works very well on their site and even with the team so if you don't want to take much risk better not to participate on any ICO, or if you really want that project then participate but don't expect something in return for just a year.

But why would you be jumping into any cryptocurrency you see online, why not just concentrate on one only? If you keep on going from one to the other like this, you will end up being scammed that’s it.

If you don’t want to get scammed, or maybe you can’t afford to lose money, you better just stick with the first-20 cryptocurrencies or just the ones listed on coinmarketcap.com. Any other cryptocurrency apart from theones listed there, is likely to end up as a scam. It’s left for you to choose.

Just plain simple! If the team looks like those who cannot manage money well, and they do not even have the slightest experience to pull whatever they want to do of, before even considering the cryptocurrency or ICO at all, then such a project is obviously a scam. There is no need brushing the faces and thinking something good may end up coming out of something that obviously does not even sound right. Like you said, it takes being extremely careful to be able to make good decisions when it comes to investment.

Yes, there are so many of them and they are called shit coins. There are so many coins that have been abandoned by the devs, some the community is still just bag holding while the devs still keeps deceiving them, some after so many years still do not have a product and they are now a product of pump and dumps, those are the kind of coins we are talking about. Stay away from them, otherwise you will end up with shit coins, they are scam coins and that is all they will ever be. Not all listed coins on exchanges are considered good.

Well it is tough to determine if that cryptocoin is scam or not hence, in order to avoid this issue we should be wise on the coin that we are going to choose like knowing the background of the developer and look if it is trusted. Moreover, you could also determine on its volume, the higher volume the coins has the less risk of being a scam. For now that is how I determine the coins if it is scam or not.

Yeah, sometimes you can be deceived, but it would take a lot of not finding some information for you to get deceived. The mistake a lot of people make is to concentrate on whitepaper, the roadmap and living the main idea of finding out about the team. This is an internet age, and there is no information you need about a team that you will not get.

I remember how some guy who claims to be the CEO of a project's ICO and said he is an English man. In fact, I started suspecting from the use of English on the website, and then decided to want to have a chat with him, only for him to bail out. LinkedIn profile for all members were all new, and for those who claimed to be IT professionals and professional in their industry? Come on!

Well obviously some cryptocurrencies are introduced with a foundation to scam investors, but thats very few compared to the number that is actually introduced for a good purpose. Well as for those introduced for a good purspose one of the reason they finally turn out looking like scam is the fact that couldn't meet the expected target so the coin ends up being almost worthless. At such situations some the cryptocurrency inventors gets discouraged and closes the campaign with the little they have earned.

There is no way you must have checked all of that and you will still be scammed. I have been an ICO investor for a while now and the only time I ever got scammed was the day I decided to drop my principles and just because I fancy the product, and then after the ICO, one thing led to the other and the team bailed out on the project after it got listed on exchange.

There is no way you will confirm if a team is solid, with a lot of past achievement and still get scammed by such team (LinkedIn is always there to know that, but run away if the account is new). I do proper digging on the team, after a little knowledge of the project before even going into the detailed part of the project.

Lot of the members already pointed out various reasons
Would like to add
a) If it sounds too good to be true, then definitely it is not true ; Else they would not have come through the ICO mode to look for funds
b) Team , Team and Team: Will will be difficult to find out that ones that are likely to scam then find out the ones that are unlikely to scam ( so can be used only as a filtering criteria) .
c) Working product: If it has a working product or a beta version then unlikely they will scam as the benefits of the project would be more than they will gain from scamming

those crypto that has no clear goals are the one that will turn scam in the end, i always look at that factor for simple analysis. you can mix it out with other factors as your personal indicator , it is not guarantee anything but at least you have a standard.

First of all I look to the Team member and their profile. If I feel valid then I do research on social media about the project. Most of the times, scam project will offer you tokens in very low amount. Also you won't find professional work from them.Their website will be also not to upto the mark. You will find many bugs on their system. You can also seek experts permission before investing on any currency. On digital world scammer can't stay many day's.

It is really very much difficult for anyone of us to get to know about this thing that any of the particular crypto coin is scammed or not until and unless we fall victim of the scam of that particular coin. Just by looking at the coin, it is very much hard to predict anything like that.

However, you can get to know but for that you need to experience that coin first and then can let others know about that scam.

It is really hard to find whether the cryptocurrency is a scam or not but you can check their sites with great whitepaper and platforms, you can make a comparison to those cryptocurrency that you've encountered. And also the most easiest way to determine if the cryptocurrency is not a scam, you can check in coinmarketcap because all good cryptocurrencies are listed there.

We can see a lot of scams on altcoins section, especially to those who offers airdrops. You can still notice if they are legit or not. Just read all about their campaigns, and look at their spreadsheet form if they are requesting with your private keys. Don't ever give your private keys because private keys are just created for your security.

Well to be sure check the background of a cryptocurrency a lot of crypto is  not a scam it's just that sometimes their project failed so by checking the background of a crypto and it's whitepaper you will have the idea if this coins has the potential to rise or it will just gonna end up crashing, another thing to look out for is the research team of the project or coin try to search about the background of the people that created the coin it will help you see if the coin will gonna crash or it will gonna rise.

It should be the public key which has to be involved on the public platforms and never a private key, so first of all do check the security because this is what effects us the most in all the way. After that you can see the papers published and what is the system on which the currency is working. Never go for the shortcuts in this because to get the heavy profits fortnightly, we always end up loosing the money in our hands.

Be sure to always check the project thoroughly before investing, but sometimes you also encounter some fraudulent projects. What you need to do is keep track of the project so you always know how the community reacts to the project to make the most accurate decision. Currently the cryptocurrency market is receiving great attention from investors so it is an opportunity for fraudsters to take advantage of the property of others.

I agree with this, almost most new cryptocurrencies just exists to topple up what Bitcoins standing in the market is, those nuisance cryptos take the chance that maybe they will do have the same market share as those high players in the cryptocurrency market. Personally I think it is better to invest to those sturdy crypto just like Bitcoin as these are sure to grow and expand even more and become more stable in comparison to other  cryptocurrencies.

The only ways you can identify cryptocurrencies that will turn to be scam at last is just by falling victim of their scam, or getting early information from someone who did, unless you’re too smart. If you’re smart, then you already know what to do, the strategies you can use to uncover their dirty secret.

First thing you will notice is that they always look unprofessional. No need to go further, some people already mentioned them.

there really is not a crypto project scam, because they have experienced a decline of currency from the investors, so the project is considered a scam, if you want to invest your money better be careful, you better research first before starting investing that project is good or not.

Look for red flags. Check if they really have an office because it's the usual setup of a scam crypto. And another one is fake profiles. Their names should come out anywhere when you search them on the web.

There is always going to be scam and what you said is even contradictory. If there is no scam, then why would you need to do research before investing ?

A lot of investors have been victim of scammers who gave them promises and immediately after the ICO carted away with a lot of the investor's funds. As long as you do a thorough research and taking the originality of the team into consideration first as well as all the achievements they have had in the past, it would make it easy not to fall victim for such scams.

There are more than 100 crypto coins and that so far, we haven’t heard of even a single crypto coin which has been declared as scam or any other thing like that.

There are definitely some coins which are not that much worthy that you should invest your money into it and that it is an impossible sort of thing to know about any of the crypto currency as scam as there is no such technique available which can help us know that.

I am not a crypto pro but usually when you see a coin that has like price 75% gains for the last 24 hours and only has like $324 dollars in volume....that drives me nuts but there will always be scams and it makes it hard for me to decipher between a coin that may be legit but just not have a lot of publicity yet or a coin that has two or three jerkoffs trading coins to pump it up.
Lol. You do not even need to be a crypto pro before you know it is a shit coin, and that sort of shitcoins are plenty a lot on Yobit and HitBTC. No offense to the fans of those exchanges. I am sure no one will even want to claim to be a fan anyway.

Not all coins roaming the market are alive, some are dead already and just waiting for time before they fade out completely and those kinds of coins are the type you just mentioned because the fake devs have all pumped and dumped on all the holders a long time ago.

And this was the reason I stopped investing on empty promises. As long as a team cannot show their product or give some proof of having one, then I really do not bother myself and it even depends on the product anyway. I am looking to always investing in the long run, and investing in empty promises these days no matter how solid the team may look sometimes, you may run the risk of bag holding shitcoins.

In the aspect of it making the whole market big though, it is not bad, since that is giving the cryptocurrency space some attention from investors, but the diversion the whole ICOs, both the scam, shit and good ones have been creating sometimes from the real deal can be appalling and that is causing so many investors to start getting greedy, but at the end of it all, as long as some of us know how to play safe around it, then we should be fine without forgetting bitcoin as the main focus.

For someone like me, knowing cryptocurrency as a scam is even more heart breaking if I end up falling prey out of stupidity to scammers. I have been investing in ICOs now and I have never gotten scammed for once and as long as I keep doing what I have been doing, then I will always be fine which is making sure I investigate the team thoroughly before anything else. I do not need to have all the coins; just the right ones are good enough for me.

its easy to say but its actually hard to do . Let us admit it , most of us are such lazy and by that , we dont really read the important things or traits on whether an ico is legit or not. We only focuss on their outside appearance and we oftenly get tricked by this gimmicks. we should change our mannerism first in order for us to be more aware on what is right or what is wrong. after succesfully learning these traits, we should now combat those scam ico's.

Well, basing on your own research if it is, you should list down Scam Crypto so anybody should be aware to it with your help and of course you must put reference for the validity of your, complain. bitcoin Before was accused as a scam coin but now see the very big difference how it grows as the real deal. you also have stated that there are incoming crypto which is soon to be listed in an exchange. well as far as i'm new to investing, researching about it. i only have one project which i have proven trusted and it is The VEHICLE LIFECYCLE BLOCKCHAIN, my biggest assurance to this that this project is trusted it's because they have issued a full refund to all of the investors leaving nobody behind. so it was a great assurance to me. now they have come back with lowered cap, and participated again.

How does crypto work? well it is base on your own understanding, but as far as i'm concern on how to deal with it if it work or not coz i based on real situation. is that project usuable or not, and after that reading and carefully reviewing the whitepaper of the Project and inquire till i get satisfied, that's why sometimes i regret when i'm late to their presale of the certain project i'm interested with. :D LOL.

Digital currency are all risky due to it decentralized system (untraceable transactions). For me, all can be a candidate  to be scammed so one must be very careful. We must do researches as to which is popular and has given results. Also join furoms such as this so others can advise us which is better. By far Bitcoin is the best for me.

Currently, there has been quite a lot of outstanding claims as a cryptocurrency. The term well known to the cryptocurrency community about this is the Shittcoin Era. In general, they only use it as a mere guise of cryptocurrency. Trying to take advantage of the opportunities behind the popular cryptocurrency that begins with Bitcoin. Most of these claims, using a pyramid scheme pattern,  and pursue the benefits of the new members. Like the pattern of pyramid schemes in general, always culminate collapse in the end. So in general, by knowing the character of how the new project cryptocurrency, is the most appropriate to be able to see how to ensure crypto or not. In this case, there are several developments that have penetrated crypto crypto market. But do not stop there until there. Because, we need to know whether the new crypto is also included in many existing large crypto market. many also found a market that made-up themselves by the developers of the new crypto project. If you encounter such a thing, then you can infer that you will regret later. And you can also begin to identify yourself on many existing crypto.

Though it's hard to predict,  you can still analyze the ICO details to know the truth behind.  We have few factors to look at.  Get into the white paper and read the details. Know the project they have undertaken. This would make you bit clear.  Then check out the team members' profiles. This another strong clue. Then know the amount they invested on projects, marketing and other stuffs.  Look for proofs they hold on the above then invest in them. This would be a way to find the correct ICO.

Truly, i don't really care about the project team of ico's or whitepaper when investing on it. There are still any chance even good project with good support team but not reaching soft-cap on token sale period running away. At first time i will put my investment are about offer profit that gain by investor if token sale target reached, marketplace distribution and responsive support.

There is no way to for sure if a cryptocurrency is a scam. All cryptocurrencies start well and they didn't just begin as a scam. They just along the years lose value and people begin to lose interest and in the coin and soon after there are no investment in such coin altogether.
However, I think to know if an ICO will be successful, you need to check all details concerning such coin. You also need to consider all factors determining the success or failure of such coin.

There are some scam cryptocurrency out there but the truth is some are very difficult to decipher unless you fall a prey. The best thing you can do is to do a thorough research about the whole project - find out more about the developer and the team. You can review their website and social media too.

There are a few methods to guess whether an ICO would be a scam or not.
First of all, check out the team working on ICO and then the individual profiles.
Then, look at the project and its offering. If the creators are being over ambitious, then chances are high that it could end up being a scam.
You can also check the ICOs performance and see whether it is achieving its targets. That also tells a lot about credibility of an ICO.

Eventually we will find that blockchain fraud is not much different from other types of investment fraud, but is "old wine in new bottles".

Whether it's dressed up as an ICO or a hedge fund, the basics are pretty much the same: convince greedy people that they can get rich without hard work.

op is talking about the general cryptocurrency and not only in ico however ico is much easier to spot if it is scam or not. You can always look at their specs such as white paper, website , road map ,etc. You can then tell whether they are legit or not but in the case of cryptos it actually difficult. There were many coins lately and most of them are just identical to each other although their names is quite different. Much better if you can just invest on the trusted and popular ones in order to be safe from being scammed.

What I always advise people to look out for in any project before wholeheartedly investing, is the team, unlike this project The Dbrain team is made up of industry-renowned professionals and has already launched several AI products that we will be expanding on the Dbrain platform.

As of now there are 1500+ cryptocurrency exists in the world.
Many dead many rising and many has to come.
So how can i know the currency  ,where i am putting my money is not a part of scam?
Or is there any other way so we can check about respected crypto might be it'll work?

There is no way to for sure if a cryptocurrency is a scam. All cryptocurrencies start well and they didn't just begin as a scam. They just along the years lose value and people begin to lose interest and in the coin and soon after there are no investment in such coin altogether.
However, I think to know if an ICO will be successful, you need to check all details concerning such coin. You also need to consider all factors determining the success or failure of such coin.
That is because you have never experienced being scammed before. Some out rightly started out as a scam during ICO and you can know from the team, some managed to enter the market with an empty promise, the devs dumped on the market and disappeared with no further development for years is a scam.

The problem with a lot of us is that we do not try as much as possible to dig for information and being an information age which even makes a lot of things easy, we should not even be a victim.

There are no cryptocurrencies that are scam it just that their investors are getting fewer and which means when the supply is high the demand is low. When there no one uses it obviouslyit will be reached its end. As long as people are investing and using those coins everything will be on good hands. Scams are with the people who use cryptocurrency and take its advantage with its good sides. Everything is for the betterment of all its with people that makes things goes wrong.. People who aren't contented, selfish, gold diggers and so much more..

There are no cryptocurrencies that are scam
You are wrong, there are crypto's that does have a goal to scam investors and this can't be denied.

If you are aware of bitconnect it's one of the scam that is using cryptocurrency to make their leaders and founders wealthy.

Look on where are they right now, Bitconnect is nearly dead but it's still breathing. If there's something wrong or the scheme is very popular and the way of making money is obviously unreal, it's a scam.

There are ICO's that are also scam.

Read people's feedback about the coin, feedbacks are really important, it is one of the  essential ways to know if the coin is a scam, if the feedbacks about the coin are negative and lots of people are complaining and are really confused about the coin then you better stay away from it because it will promise you nothing.

It is very difficult to describe how to know which cryptocurrency would be scam. You cannot predict the scam in cryptocurrency. One thing is only possible the performance of cryptocurrency and its interaction communications with investors and links can be roots to identify the scam otherwise it is no easy to find scam.

The last thing I always ever want to go through in any project is the whitepaper. That is a lot to digest and I would not even want to waste my time doing that and then finding out that the team looks shady. It is very easy to dig the team up and find out a lot from them by asking questions and getting to know their identity, what they have done, after you have gotten a quick glance of the project from the website, and then if you are certain, you can then go ahead reading all the technical stuffs from the whitepaper.

Digital currency are all risky due to it decentralized system (untraceable transactions). For me, all can be a candidate  to be scammed so one must be very careful. We must do researches as to which is popular and has given results. Also join furoms such as this so others can advise us which is better. By far Bitcoin is the best for me.
Yeah, the main reason why anyone should even be careful in the first place is because there is a lot of risk already, so why now increase it to the highest level by not trying your best in avoiding scams.

A lot of people when they see a graphical website, a well written whitepaper, and a graphical road map as well, all they look out for next is to invest in the project, whereas the most important things is to find out if there is a product and a good team to always get it right.

If you really do not care about the project team, then you are in for a longer days of being scammed bro. This should be one of the things anyone should be particular about. No one can guarantee if an ICO will be successful, but a good team will refund anyway, but you really think scammers actually care about an ICO being successful in the first place? The only thing they are out for is your money and if you are willing to dash them all, you can be my guest.

Well, people say coins and token are a scam because of they lose their value, but sometimes when coins lose their value in particular reasons, they just disappear without trace or saying what happen and people will start saying about it and pretend that their thought is real and suspect that the project is a scam.

I’m not really sure of how someone can tell which cryptocurrency is scam or not, but one thing for sure is that the good ones are made to look professional. Fake ones are made to look fake as they are, cause the devs are only interested in money and are so careless that they won’t concentrate to build it. Well, it’s always good, so we can find out and detect which ones are genuine and those that are not.

what you can do before investing in an ICO check the roadmap, whitepaper and the team behind the project. Review their platform and what they offer, read carefully every details on their whitepaper. Visit their telegram channel, and from there you will see if they have lots of investors. Do some reseach about the project before investing.

The most important thing you need to do is your due diligence to not invest in a coin out of impulse take your time to research the coin and then decide if you want to invest in it, many people rush to invest in altcoins just because they fear losing the bonuses but the bonuses are meaningless if you lose all your money if you invest in a scam.

If you see all the cryptos all of them are seem to be legit. So choosing the right crypto is very hard to do.
To minimize the chance that you might choose scam crypto, we should check first all the information about that crypto.
We should check if all the members and devs are doing thier best just to make the crypto sucessful. Untill we can conclude that it is onehundred percent legit.

I also see that the more scams on btc forums are growing.. BCASH is one of the outstanding scam web distributors, many investors are losing money balances! They send IDR as BCASH coin deposit, it turns out their investment place is a scam and they can not withdraw the balance of BCASH coin deposit so they lose the amount of IDR which has been deposited in BCASH.

I think there are a few steps you can follow that will reduce the risk of you investing in low quality projects. Look up the project on GitHub. Does it have an active community of developers? How engaged is the team when it comes to dealing with issues. A good place to start with that would be on this forum. All the major projects engage with their protocol users on this forum and you can have active engagement with them. What's the token issuance structure like as well? As in what proportion of the money raised goes to the team and how will that be released? If they take up an extremely large proportion and these are not released in incriminates then what will incentivise them to work hard after they receive the funds?

Research on the three 'P's;
People,
Process and,
Product.
Who makes up the team? Are the credible managers?

How efficient is their strategy? If the ICO has too many gaps you should scrutinize further.

And what is their working product? Is it unique enough toto be invested in?

The only way we can differentiate legit cryptocurrency from a scam is by reading more about the project and the integrity of the team behind such project.Because it is very painful to waste your time and other resources on a project that is not paying. We should always do a background check well before trusting a particular coin.

depends on how you define SCAM.

my definition for SCAM in crypto coins is a road-map that can't be met !.

most coins have a GREAT road-map where they claim really amazing things to happen!. so people invest in that coin based on that. only to realize after a while that non of the so called plans worked out. and the worst part is when the devs themselves know they can't achieve their road-map so the dump their coins before others do leaving everybody else with BAGS!

to stay safe, only invest in TOP coins. less reward yet less risk.

You don't need to check all the crypto to find out what is ordinary stone, from diamonds, from gems, from nickle, from platinum since they are all mixed up in this muddy society, you need to be flexible in choosing and bargaining if you find crypto that is worth a small diamond then use it to gain, if you purchase a lot of ordinary stone then just leave it alone put it aside and keep trading, no need to waste time looking for scams.

With this don't fall without proper research, because once lost is lost forever with cryptocurrency. Getting caught into the hands of scammers will result in initiation of negative thoughts among the users.

I think everyone here has been dealing with these PM's, but the only thing that you can do in this case is report them from where the accounts sending these PM's will likely end up getting nuked. Important for people to understand is the fact that the harder an ICO or project tries to advertise itself, and especially when it comes to spamming links and people's inboxes, the less trustworthy it is. Proper ICO's and projects only stick to more basic forms of marketing, where after that people themselves will spread the word, and that effect is something doing the work for you as project.

Quite a nice topic…. But don’t you think it’s better for you to focus on cryptocurrencies with a good reputation online already, instead jumping into new and unstable platforms and looking for ways to know which one of them is scam or not? This is practically a waste of time, cause you should have used those times wasted as opportunity to invest on other good coins and make a lot of profit.

In fact is is not possible for the inexperienced people to know that which coin or ICO is going to be fake and scam. For that you need a regular study and must know the expert opinion, who have passed such a long time in the market, and who have good experience and studying the market regularly. i think that using internet you can also get good information about ICOs and coins.

Actually sometimes you can't tell whether a project/ICO is a scam because most of the professional scammers are opening a project that looks professional, all the informations and whitepapers are perfect as well as other parts of the projects including social medias, ann thread as well as the community.

Well if you're about to invest into a project you should be aware about the risk you're about to face. Such as a scam or whatever so we should be responsible in every investment actions we're about to do and we should be doing a deep research about the teams background, the projects and we should not be afraid to ask about other stuffs to their representatives.

i think there is no cryptocurrency  scam but only the one who make the coins sometimes are scammer. yes, there so many coins in the crypto market but not all of them are successful to grow in several years. Other coins are just use to raise funds after that they don't care about the coins if it will continue to grow or not, that's why it become dead coins after a years because there are no more demands. There are also a lot of good coins that has a potential to grow because of it's uses like bitcoin, ethereum and others. That coins are already tested, even a lot of dumps they still rising. That coins are already trusted by many people and has a great value and popularity. So,go to bitcoin and ethereum if you want to invest in secured coins. If you want other coins then you need to study those coins if it has a potential to grow in the market even how many years will pass by.

(1) Read the white paper (focus on their economic model)
(2) check the founders
(3) check the website.

You can use an a-priori probability of ~97% that you are looking into a scam/unprofessional garbage. So only if you have been amazed by the above mentioned 3 topics and have no doubts whatsoever, there is some chance that you are looking into something worth more than nothing.

I guess there is no way we can determine which is a scam. In fact almost all cryptocurrency that was created has a value, it is better to research first and better annalization which cryptocurrency will exist in the long run and in the future. Many coins have created but not all of them will still manage to have a good value in the future. You can always check the market for you to monitor which coin is better. This maybe will prevent you from being scam.

Cryptocurrency can't be a scam if it simply exist in the market for trading. You might be referring to the volatility itself but that isn't the idea of the scam anyone can refer into because nobody can really reduce up to 99% the risks involved in cryptocurrency, it could be determined by luck. Are you referring to ICOs?  It could be hard to determine the legitimate ICOs these days especially if you're just truly a bounty hunter without even trying to get in through the checks needed for you to be sure that ICO will pay after it ends.

Small disclaimer that I use scam here in the broadest possible sense... To include, for example, coins and projects that are not entirely upfront.

In that regard, I would consider almost all ICOs scams... Except for those raising funds specifically for growth or expansion. But new blockchains? New projects? If you're raising funds to start an idea and need to hire devs to do ahit for you then I'm sorry you're out for profit not innovation.

Second related sign. Non open source. If you're not sharing, you're hiding something or have nothing to show. Scam from the get go.

Well, the only thing you can do beside asking this kind of stuff is researching those crypto credibility where you will be involve with. Lots of crypto nowadays exist it is pretty hard to distinguish which is real and which is fake. Beside of the crypto credibility you may check the credibility of the manager who runs it, if in this forum look below the manager's name if there is a red trust probably the manager had been involve on some stuffs that made its trust red, probably the manager is a past scammer or whatsoever well, that is all.

If they are added to some exchanges and they are added to coinmarketcap then it is hard to find scam among them if there will be any scam. For precaution I will sugges to invest only in those coins which have the highest volume of trade or which are on the top of the list on coinmarketcap. It will secure you from potential lose.

It is also advise from me that do not invest in those coins which are not on coinmarketcap yet and which do not have and stronger business.

As of now there are 1500+ cryptocurrency exists in the world.
Many dead many rising and many has to come.
So how can i know the currency  ,where i am putting my money is not a part of scam?
Or is there any other way so we can check about respected crypto might be it'll work?
Just be honest. I personally find it difficult to determine which crypto is scam or not. Because usually if at the beginning, of course, all can promise and do not think it eventually will be a scam.

Idea isn't bad though. And the argument is right in almost all cases. But not all of the ICOs are scam. Need to research well before investing money as I already said. Research company white paper and who are working on this project. I found SciDex is legit and pure with lots of possibilities to grow. Thank you SciDex.

This is a good question I think. And everybody should research well before investing their money in ICO projects. The best way is to read white paper as well as research well about the company reputation. I did for SciDex. Looks like a good one. What's your opinion?
I don’t think so that by just studying about any of the crypto currency will then help you in knowing that whether any of the crypto currency is scam or not. To know this thing, you must go for investing your money into any of the crypto currency and then, once you will deal with that crypto coin, you will get to know whether it is scam or not. It is better to invest only in reputed crypto coins to avoid any such thing.

In the beginning, everything seems to be perfect because we cannot find them they are the scam, scam ICO companies will do same marketing as good ICO companies. This makes to believe them more and people start investing more into it and finally until they scam us.

Crypto currencies cannot be scams, but projects can. You have to learn carefully about them and look at their content just to make sure there is a good stable base to start the project. Of course you may make mistakes and there are no guarantees that everything will go ok.

We can place anywhere our coins, what we need to learn is how many investors who have the coin if the coin is sold a lot of coins is certainly not a scam, but if investors a little we need to be careful, if we lose scam but if not a scam you are lucky because in the future it will have a good value.
hopefully help a little.

If you make an investment make sure you have studied the project you are going to invest.
Do not let you make a mistake in choosing the project.
Make sure the project has a good concept, consisting of a team of professionals and experienced in Cryptocurrency,
and make sure the project has reached a soft cap.
I think if you have confirmed these things then you will avoid the scam.

Most currencies lose value with time, sometimes because there was no working product and long term target.
Research on the project, the team, the process.
You are looking for a notable team, with a working product and commitments.

The only way we can differentiate legit cryptocurrency from a scam is by reading more about the project and the integrity of the team behind such project.Because it is very painful to waste your time and other resources on a project that is not paying. We should always do a background check well before trusting a particular coin.

By conducting a detailed research; reading their white paper, checking their road maps, Is the team reliable(And by reliable I mean have they got some good projects in their portfolio) and checking their ratings on ICO rating platforms such as icobench.com, icodrops.com, Icocreed.com.

When investing in, there are pointers that indicate legit ICOs.
Scam ICOs won't have reputable members in their team.
Also the projects social media accounts are usually misinformative, and unresponsive.
A scam project usually doesn't have a working product that targets a long-term solution.

You will never know if the crypto is scam or not. You can check their spreadsheet if it is updating or not you also check some review on their projects. You can also check how many join the project we can never tell until the project ends. Since the cryptocurrency market was born, analysts have identified and judged that investment is fragile and unstable. However, this is a great opportunity and potential

There are some crypto currency that are made to scam people in order to make profit so they make it crowd funded and when they reach their desire market cap it turns into a scam. I have not seen an ico asking for private keys but any ico doing that should be immediately labeled as a scam since there is not a reason for them to be asking that

When investing in a speculation, or a new ICO, it is difficult to predict, the future outcome, you can check the parameters and decide whether it has a good layout, but that doesn't guarantee that it would survive when in the market.

The most effective way to avoid scams and failed projects would be to invest in already established altcoins, and top currencies.

Yes we need to be very careful to avoid scamming you should make complete research on their team their social media platform, you should investigate their profile link, we should not trust anyone, it is very important to be friendly while dealing with bitcoin investing, it is not simple so be very careful no need to share about your private information related to bitcoin with anyone who is unknown to you.

The only risk free method of not being scammed when selecting a coin is to only buy bitcoin and no other coin if you do that you will not have any chances to get scammed, the moment you choose to invest in an altcoin your risk goes higher, but if you insist to do it take the time to read their entire ANN thread, I know that will take a lot of time but you will see a lot of information about what people tought about the coin at the time.

Identifying a legit or scam project is really hard, but there some other ways that might help you to lessen the risk in investing in ICO's. Like reviewing of there whitepaper if they really have a project that is having a great potential and can be useful to its owner, and identifying the members behind the team if they are really credible members and not fabricated only.

So lets say we have 1500+ candies in a jar, all has the same sizes but different flavors and manufactured by only one company. You doesnt even know which candies has a factory defect unless you unwrap it or guess by its deformity. Just like knowing what are scams on the ICO. All has same nature but different purpose. Some can tell by what listed on the ANN thread or whitepaper and is obviously seen. Some just pops up when you are already investing in it.

There is not really a way to know for sure, if you do not want to take the risk you can invest in coins that have been around for a long time and that have a good reputation in the forum, but if you want to invest in icos then you need to accept the fact that a majority of them are going to be scams and even the projects that are not scams are not going to give profits in this difficult market.

We can't say with surity that which one is legitimate and which one is not , because if you will make money in any project then you will say that , that project is better and guinine , regardless of the factor whether the project is legitimate or not .
So don't think any cryptourrency as a scam .
You need to see that how the project is working and at what condition is , I mean if any coin is launched at the exchange and market is better , but still actual coin is not made , then still we have better chances to make money by the fluctuating market , and in that case all depends upon us that how we are handling that market to make profit and loss with our trading strategy .
At the another side there are chances that even a real coin that is listed at the exchange get dumped badly ( by owner or any group of pump and dump ) then you will say that coin is scam only .
So all depends upon us and the result of the market of that Cryptourrency , nothing is sure .

Instead of you searching for a way to avoid cryptocurrencies that are scam, won’t it be even better when you only go for the top twenty coins? Yes there are lots of cryptocurrencies, but there are already the top cryptocurrencies with good reputation, and they are also well known just like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple and a lot more of them. So go for these instead going for new coins you know nothing about since you don’t know how to identify cryptocurrencies that are scam.

Before it become a coin it became an ICO once so before make an investment on those ICOs you should know first the background of the developers and check if they could able to reach their softcap and even the hardcap. It's hard to tell if it is scam or not but you should take the risk otherwise, there will be no profit for you.

Here below I have stated a few red flag detection techniques and what you need to do before investing in any project for preventing getting scammed. if you are knowledgeable and have experience and then you are investing, it is harder to trick you but if you’re just new, if you’re just starting out you might become a victim. You would be vulnerable to scams just because you lack all the knowledge that you need in order to be more prepared and it is natural that everyone has been a new person in the field at one point in time but it is important to educate yourself.

Anonymous Team
Vague Whitepaper
Too Small or Inactive Community
No GitHub Activity or Project Activities Updates

So I hope you learn something I hope you now have a better feeling for what is a good project what is a bad project and I hope you are more aware and know how to check a project for red flags. It’s all about awareness, it’s all about knowledge it’s all about being as careful as possible.

i always go for team i always try to find out exactly who is behind the certain project that you are interested in and always try to find out the company behind the project and always try to find out the address of the company because if they are transparent they should share their address, are they afraid to share the address? Also the names I want to know exactly who the CEO is, who the CTO is, and so on.And so forth there is no reason to not share the names, also sometimes I try to reach out to the team and try to get on skype or on telegram and try to talk directly to the founders because it is one thing to read about the project on their website, to read on the whole marketing effort they’re making and to get the information from there and it’s a whole other thing to talk to the founders to talk to the founders directly about the same things that are said in the marketing websites or on the white paper and so on and so forth but you get a whole different perspective when you hear it from the founders. So you can develop your own gut feeling when you have your conversation with the team members. Try to compare the stuff written in the whitepaper to the stuff they talk to you, you maybe be able to find points which were exaggerated for marketing purpose or points they were hiding from people.

Waiting till then will lose your money so I think I is good for us to know before we invest, now internet is there which we can use to explore the digital currency, almost every coin is at the high price but we should buy only those which has lower price cause buying at the low price ad hold to make it high is the best way of getting profit, there are a lot of fake coins so instead of trusting all of them better chose only bitcoin you will feel really safe using it,

Cryptocurrency scam always depend upon the team, project and the potential of the coin. You can check it in their site. You can read their white paper so you can have an additional information about what are their plan. You can assure if their coin is really legit or only a scam. Try research about NEO and Ethereum. It has a good potential coin that can help you earn a lot of money.

There is no way you can tell which one would be scam, what you have to do is avoid them earlier. Just go for cryptocurrencies with reputation and not all these new ones that are yet to achieve anything. If you want to invest in new coins just invest a small amount of money in case you happen to lose it, it wouldn’t be much.

If you just jump with huge amount, when you lose it you will regret your life for real. So mind what you’re going for or stick to Bitcoin alone and no other cryptocurrency.

The best thing to do to check whether a crypto is a scam or not is through research. If you are not so sure of the crypto you are trying to invest just because you just heard it from friends that it is a good crypto, then think twice. If the team is that is behind it is unreachable or unresponsive too, then it can be a symptom of a scam crypto.

I do not think that there is any mechanism or way through which we can know about an ICO that either it is a scam or not, but i think that studying the white paper of the ICO and about the project from there we can get some information about such ICOs, but still an expert person can give you a good suggestion about it.

i think those crypto currency are the currency which loose their volume and they turn to be scam, and i think the coins who are not be mined is they will be turning to me scam in the long run. Much better to choose well know coins to make your investment safe or lessen the risk.

There are lot of new coins that has promising features and could become the next big thing bad sadly due to the volume of coins and mostly of it are shitcoins they get overlooked by possible investors. The only way to know where to properly invest your money is to know if that crypto currency is hype, has a good team of devs, has many physical source of income, and has a real CEO.

I think no one can give you perfect answer for this question, Because who knows that particular persons who are behind that project got what type of idea in their mind? It applies to any business not only to cryptocurrency. but we know normally all businessmen are not thieves. you can reduce the risk a lot by doing your own research in depth. checking whitepaper. the team. if you can decide the best way is to know how the crypto experts think of that project. because they know better than about the subject, Experience is so valuable. they got it.

You want integrity and expertise in the team, also their customer support service shout be effective and attend to your enquiries.

It is very hard to identify which ICO is legitimate and which is fake or scam. At first look of the project you can say that it is legit but as the time goes by you’ll be surprised that suddenly the project turns out scam. Sometimes because they did not able to reach the desired soft cap and hard cap. Lack of good project plan and lack of experience managers to do the job. Sometimes they are not ready well equipped with the proper knowledge of the project they are in to.

Between the whitepaper, team background, roadmap, and progress I think you should be able to tell which teams truly care about their currency and making it useful for use. If you can see that progress is being made at the same rate it is promised in the roadmap or whitepaper, that is a good sign. You can also try to talk to the team through different methods such as on this forum or in their Telegram and see if they are honest and responsive.

Although it maybe very hard to know crypto which would be scam or not because even the scam ones also have very good features and things that will really attract investors but it is left for the investor to do a very deep research before investing in it. For you to know, I think you should read the whitepaper very well, if it doesn't state clearly the idea, products and it oesn't have good dev and management team with good records, then you should not invest in such crypto.

I guess it's easy now to detect if the crypto is scam as we have all the resources to check if it is legit or not. Most of the crypto are legit,  however in some cases  the developer abandon the project or it has a low support from the community. They have no demand on the market and new crypto came which is better the previous one.

Like picking a real currency - Know the Original, then the fakes will stand out.

There are certain Common Features of Legitimacy that can help you avoid the landmines:

#1)  Is it based on an idea that can clearly be Market Disruptive by solving some inefficiency/annoyance in current  paradigms?

RATIONALE:  Even if it's not a scam,  it has to eventually be profitable or the effect on you will be the same as a scam:  Dollars in and $0 out.

#2)  Is this coin's Whitepaper coherent, realistic, and brief?

RATIONALE:  While Whitepaper's are "a dime a dozen",  if someone can't explain to you in a short paragraph (even in one sentence, while standing on one foot), WHAT their objective is, then their idea; though it may not be a scam, is not focused enough to trust with your talent or your stored labor (your money).

#3)  Is this a single entrepreneur with an idea or a head entrepreneur with a small team of different subject-matter experts with Vision, Marketing, Technical, Administrative, Legal, and Administrative skills.

RATIONALE:  One person with an idea had better quickly put a great team together to get past the sticky Scam-Trap starting line.

#4)  Is this enterprising team TRANSPARENT?  Do they have a Master Schedule?  Are they ON SCHEDULE?  Do they have a handle on costs?  Have they stated what they are doing NEXT and how long they expect it to take?  Will they promptly answer your tough questions and those of others out in the open?  Are they honest about the RISKS they (and you) face?  Do they have means to show real-time whether they have a prayer of penetrating the Market - that the Market is taking more notice of them each day, that others whom you already trust to have as much or more knowledge as you are positively inclined toward them?

RATIONALE:  Figures don't lie, but liars do figure.

Crypto is here to stay!  Consider the condemning jeers of the horse lovers around the turn of the Century around 1900:

- Horse lovers jeered automobiles:  They're too noisey.
- They require their own mechanic to ride along.
- The tires don't last.
- Gasoline is hard to get, but horse-feed is everywhere.
- They get stuck in the mud!

Yet; today,  automobiles are everywhere.

This is No Longer the time to be skeptical of shared-ledger crypto algorythms.  It's a time to maximize gain potential at the lowest risk potential.

Below is a legitimate paradigm and matching ICO in progress for your consideration:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Javascript Enabled Coin (JSEcoin):  https://platform.jsecoin.com/?lander=3&utm_source=referral&utm_campaign…

OBJECTIVE:  Be the first "Publicly Accessible CryptoCoin".

GOAL:   JSEcoin will achieve this goal by disrupting the massive Web Advertising Industry; thus, enabling Webmasters to monetize their sites with software who currently have no serious alternative to obnoxious, in your face, Ad-Craziness.

SOLUTION:  The Browsing User can unobtrusively pay their browsing freight for a given website through an ad-free, hassle-free, or ad-minimal method; thus, the user visits the website hassle-free and the Webmaster can pay for their website's existence.

OTHER BENEFITS:

- Far more mining energy is saved than for Bitcoin and similar "server farm" mining, because JSECoin uses what currently is wasted energy from underutilized CPU cycles of user browsing.  The browsing computer is on anyway, and huge numbers of CPU cycles (i.e. electricity and time) are wasted, simply because the browsing computer is turned on.  Use those wasted cycles and save energy and dollars.

- Every user HAS TO Opt-In or not (Unlike sneaky coins that steal your CPU cycles, this is a voluntary arrangement.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if you are a sure crypto-skeptic, you still have curiousity!  If you are curious at all whether crypto-currency has any real/lasting Market-Disrupting potential that you may be missing, invest 5-10 entertaining minutes examining

https://platform.jsecoin.com/?lander=3&utm_source=referral&utm_campaign…

DISCLOSURE:

- I like JSECoin's intelligent ambition and believe you may very well like it too.

- They have achieved their first milestone in the current ICO and will be listing on Exchanges after the ICO

- Their track record of doing what they have said they would do is EXCELLENT!

- I can understand this one!

- I do NOT work for JSECoin.

Crypto scam and not indeed a hard thing to predict much less for beginners because the already senior just sometimes there is still wrong. see the team behind the crypto is the important thing. with a good and experienced team then could be the right growth crypto to be better for the future. To know whether the ICO is scam or not is very very difficult. But,m we may know the criteria of them. first is the unclear project and very high promising project. The token allocation and its supply are very high. The community is not active. Or sometimes, their team members are not belonging into the real person.

Some reached that and failed to do the needful. Background check on their white paper, research team would be if help. It is a risky adventure altogether. One can either make or Mar.

Check to see if you can reach any of their team members and get to understand their project. If you can do all these, then I can say you are 70% far away from scam.

there are so many scam projects, though its somehow difficult to detect them from the beginning. Some of those presenting themselves as project developers creating tokens, know very well that they are only out to scam people and disappear with their money. some actually sell the token during ICO but there after run away without paying for listing. so in my opinion, try to check the activities of the developing team, if they are too money conscious  run cos they may be scammers.

It is very difficult and probably close to impossible to be able to detect a scam project beforehand. However, there's really no scam cryptocurrency, coins with poor project planning only loses value with time. The best thing in this case is to do a lot of research and know the potentials of the coin you wanna invest in. But, In as much as a coin is listed on exchanges and is also tradable, then it's not a scam. Devaluation doesn't mean illegitimacy. If you talk about scam ICOs and bounties, I'll agree with that but not scam crypto.

The best part would just be to research, by researching you will always stumble upon something that helps you to decide whether or not a project is a scam and that is the best way to get your information. Also the kind of team members behind the coin will tell you a lot about it

It isn't too difficult to spot fake projects as well as shady and scam looking projects. Firstly, the team may never be present to answer questions regarding the project, they sometimes opt to conceal their real identities and that alone is a red flag. Secondly, there isn't any form of product or utility surrounding the project concept, it doesn't solve any real case whatsoever. Thirdly, offering too many tokens is also a turn off. Incoherent Roadmaps and future plans is another issue. Once you can spot all of this, there is a great chance that such a project may be scams.

It is very hard to know but there are still some signals that one needs to look for. First, how responsive and lively is there telegram group is, you also need to scrutinize the biography of the project team , these and more will indicate if a project is real or scam.

Doing research and asking questions to know about those coins that are profitable to invest on is a very good step. Most of the scam project do not have a good whitepaper work, they are always secretive about the development of the project, though they are active in terms of communication in most cases. Most of the scam project has no any form of product or utility surrounding the project concept, all they care about is the fund aspect.

developers will be key in determining whether the crypto will produce or not to invest. the professional development team will give a good result for the crypto will be invested. but it will apply also to the contrary. many cryptos left by a team of developers and this became crypto junk and are not able to compete to be a scam. Moreover, these fields are increasingly producing then will be more reasonable if the scam is also more and more.

The airdrop / project feature is prone to scam:

1. They provide the conditions to send some eth to their address to get a token (This is clear, why do I have to pay for the dropdrop?)
2. When filling out the form, you are asked to fill in the private key (It is very clear a scam, because if they know your private key, you can "your wallet balance is sold out)
3. The website is suspicious / suspected of phishing (they usually ask you to fill in the data "private" on their phishing web)

Hopefully it can be a lesson for all of us, to always be careful "in following the airdrop Smiley

ICO is a form of investment that can bring big profits when it index, you can x10 x20 the amount you have invested. But this is also a form of high risk investment. You can take Describe the following to evaluate an ICO or other crypto project:
Team established ICO
The topic of that ICO on forums or review sites about ico
Development Roadmap
Community and media support
Review the Whitepaper of the project
Quality code (see on Github)

Well according to a research report I read, somewhere around 80% of ICO projects last year had scammy activity, so you can probably assume that is somewhere around 90% in 2018. However, the vast majority of funding is being sucked up by the actual good projects, so you shouldn't worry to much about getting scammed, as scammy projects tend to fail quickly.

You should do a good research on the project you want to make a deposit. My advice is to read the project's whitepaper first. And research the team members of the project. And lastly read the comments about the project and the team members.

Bro, for the most parts of cryptocurrencies are not a scam, they simply depreciate (there was no investor, the team fell apart, anything can happen).  But you can select the best ones yourself, or use chat rooms where such companies have already found ... they are usually paid.

To interact with the team is definitely a good idea!

To see fraudsters among many crypto startups, you need to study:
The site is the face of the company;
Technology - what the company does;
People - who does it;
Principles of work - how they do it.
The ICO market is a young and high-risk business. It is necessary to enter into it with a certain knowledge base and a part of the income that will not be a pity to lose.y to lose.

If you are a HOLDer, then you are more likely to stumble upon a SCAM than a trader. A trader may have time to sell the coins before they are worthless; this is not good, but they have money in their hands instead of air coins.

It is necessary to remember the risks when working with cryptocurrencies. No one can say for sure which project will turn out to be fraud. In any case, we can only reduce the risks associated with investments, but we cannot completely eliminate them. To minimize risks, you need to carefully study the project, its ratings, information about developers and technologies.

Today it is necessary to take into account the relatively high risks in practical investments in any cryptocurrency. Unfortunately, to identify a fraudulent project will be quite difficult. Although you can use some universal methods to reduce such risks - including exploring information about the developers, platform, technologies and future development plans.

Due diligence is very important when it comes to investing. It doesn't matter if you are investing money or investing time through participating in bounty campaigns because when you spend some time in the project, you should so some research about it to know if it is worth it. You need to have some criterias before you decide to invest in a project. As for me, it is already a red flag when the team is not answering the questions in the community and they would block someone who will ask some negative questions.

Good icos always have a good product to offer, a product that is going to be able to last for years and sustain the coin for a long time
You might want to look into the social media profiles fo the creators to make sure that they are actually legit

It would be hard to determine. Usually, a project is becoming officically a scam in the middle of the project's progress whereas some investors have already invested. One may only make assumption by checking the project's background particularly with the credibility of the team behind it. But majority of the projects still are not scam and there are only few based on my experiences so it should not be a reason on not to invest if you are aiming for profit.

for example such as the "online jury" project which was won by sylon last year, but the developers only deceived the ICO participants and bounty participants online only, and now the developers release JOT tokens at high prices to take advantage personally.

All ICO projects are in the hardest stage and this helps us to identify good ICO projects and ICO Scam projects. I think the market is down so people do not have confidence in ICO projects anymore because the demand for investment this year is very low and the number of investors are leaving this market so much that the ICO is no longer new investment direction this year
