But of course government should consider bitcoin in the near future  as a legal global currency due to the fact that bitcoin is so widespread across the globe and can be used my almost everyone. If Japanese have already done it why can't we? This consideration of bitcoin should put us one step ahead into cashless society. Even if there are risks in allowing bitcoin as global currency I know that someday in the near future there will already have the answer how to fix it.

If Japan has been able to finally legalize bitcoin, it only means that they have belief over it and that it really has the potential for the good of rhe economy. I personally think that government should go along with the step that Japan made for bitcoin since it actually benefits and help people and government legalizing it would improve this community.

I don't think the government will do that.
The government has its own legal tender.
They can control the legal tender.
And bitcoin is the world's.
It's anonymous. The state can't control it.

It would be great, however it is never going to happen for the following reasons:
1. By controlling the money supply governments are able to manage their economies for their benefit (usually at someone else's expense)
2. The banking industry will fight tooth and nail to stop it as it will cost them a fortune in lost revenue.
3. Politicians and civil servants will hate it as money is power and it will take power away from them.
All of which are great reasons to try to make it a global currency.

.         In my opinion , it could be  consider it as  a global currency, to the fact that everybody is using it by big companies and investors. It is just great to be part of Bitcoin world, while all your payments from campaigns Will be transferred or exchanged to loca l currencies. It is something that of course more than currencies, an assets  that you can gain more profits when you are investing in to it

For me it would be nice if btc is legalized. The common people would greatly benefit from it and maybe help with poverty and change lives. The big problem though is greed. From people who wants power. They cannot control btc that is why a lot of people think negatively and bad mouths btc and wants it to fail

It is a good thing to every country to legalize bitcoin as their form of currency. Because once they have pass a law regarding the legalization of bitcoin surely, change within a country will be happened. Reducing of the rates of the unemployment and poverty will be done and the good thing here is it will soon be eliminated if bitcoin will be embraced by a certain country.

Bitcoin is widely used in the world. Many people who invest in bitcoin always ask: "Bitcoin is legal?" Due to the limitations of virtual currency management, bitcoin has not been recognized in some countries. I think bitcoin will be legal in the future

Even if the world admits it, China will not admit it. Most bitcoin is in the hands of Europe and America, and once admitted, China will become a slave to Europe and America. China will only develop its own digital currency, controlled by the central bank, and BTC fans will never expect bitcoin to be consumed in China.

It is not clear what you mean by "legal currency"

Could you clarify your question? If you mean legal currency as in legal tender, this is not gonna happen in the foreseeable future, if ever. First, now when major countries are going to regulate the hell out Bitcoin, the whole idea looks ridiculous (well, at least to me). Second, universally recognizing Bitcoin as legal tender, i.e. at a global level, necessarily means recognizing it as such at a national level but that in effect means making it into another national currency, a competitor to the existing one. Why would any government ever want that?

As of now, no one know who is controlling the bitcoin price and which countries have much bitcoins. countries are thinking about the crypto currency and they are looking the option of their own control crypto currency.

Currently, bitcoin is not considered legal currency, bitcoin is a reliable virtual currency. Bitcoins are not owned by any country but they are used to pay off in a lot of countries. In the future, bitcoin will be recognized by many countries as legitimate, and if development applications meet the needs of consumers, bitcoin can completely replace the cash.

In all country's government, it is illegal to create another currency. Bitcoin, being a currency makes it illegal. It just so happens that it is a 190$B market that they need to accept it and subject it to regulation. The problem is, different countries have varying laws and thus makes it complicated to reach an consensus regarding global currency. Imo, it is impossible.

If the government are looking into the future then they should consider bitcoin as a legal currency, but the reality the government some government already made the right choice to look into the blockchain technology. Perhaps if they consider to join the cryptocurrency movement, they will create their own coins which they can control because as we know government banned bitcoin because they cant control the flow of it nor they know who owns the biggest shares of it which could manipulate the price anytime  ;D

If it is possible then i'll be grateful for it,as it is a good news and a new beginning for our country.Embracing bitcoin as a new currency is a big help to every individual due to its unique nature. However i don't think legalizing bitcoin is nearly impossible to us,we have a non progressive country and a greedy government not like japan (sigh).Besides, many banks on our country will surely be against it as they might lose some of their revenues. And another reasons are
because of bitcoins volatility and anonimity that the government can't control and might think of not taking its risk.

Absolutely yes, this is the era of digital currencies, and the number of users Bitcoin in progress over time. As well, The prevention of this currency by governments has led to major problems, especially in the global economy.

In addition to that, the good news is that some governments have recognized it as a legal currency (like, Japan...) and this is a good beginning to recognition of this era.
It is certain that many countries will resort to Bitcoin recognition and very soon.

Bitcoin is the future of money and there is no doubt in this. By looking at the present progress pace, it won’t take bitcoin long before it hits down every road. Japan is the smartest Asian country when it comes to technology and possesses foresight in relevant matters.

If you ask the crypto community if bitcoin should be legalized or not people would definitely want that the governments should consider bitcoin as legal currency but when it comes to governments many of them see bitcoin as a threat to their economy because if people use bitcoin people wouldn't have to pay taxes to the government and the governments won't like that idea at all that is for sure. This reason may cause many governments to avoid bitcoin as a legal global currency.

Most governments are totally against bitcoin due to the fact that it's decentralized. They have no control over it which is against what they would have wished for. They cannot manipulate it as well like fiat. In a nutshell, governments should recognize and legalize btc, but we all know that it is next to impossible for now.

Bitcoin for the sake of governmental easiness should be put in the same category as Gold, especially with so many similar characteristics. Gold is quite often considered to be a currency as well, and that while it doesn't enjoy any use in that specific category at all. For me personally the name (asset, currency, commodity, etc) people think Bitcoin should have doesn't matter a sigle bit, since it's only the usage that matters here. Not sure if people will ever actually start using Bitcoin as currency with how the price keeps going up and down, but at least (with LN to enhance the experience) people will know that Bitcoin itself won't be the limiting factor. From that point it's just a mindset thing that people need to get over.

Unluckily, it isn't in government's interest to consider Bitcoin as a global currency. Banks are often the property of the state so they would shoot itself in the foot recognizing it as a universal currency. Banks have many disadvantages and they are afraid of confrontation with new and innovative type of a currency. Nonetheless, it seems that in the end they will be forced to recognize Bitcoin because otherwise people may in the next few years completely abandon the use of bitcoins.

It is hard to do bitcoin as our global currency, it would take a lot of debate and each President or government would not allow this to happen, it would take a lot of effort and it took time before it would finally lead to global currency. And as of today, let us enjoy the perks that it is giving to us the opportunity to gain and many more.

Yes ,because in many countries its considered as a units of account and not as a legal tender,So thats true that bitcoin will not be a legal global currency, because today there are no (international or local)regulations about its emission,Mining is not a subject of regulation and it does't need special licenses.for example as i know in Germany bitcoin is  considered as a transfer of a good and not as a payment method, despite the fact all of this issues depend on countries different approaches, some of them has liberal approach and some of them very strict so,this consesus can be achieved only by an effective legislative basis.

In my country there is almost no talk about bitcoin and anything related to it even then some laws are going to be passed but it does not recognize bitcoin as a currency and to me it makes sense, that happened in Japan because the level of adoption there is insane, and the government is trying to find ways to stimulate the economy and this one was an easy one since they did not need to do anything except to pass a law.

I think the government should immediately legalize bitcoin because it already exists in some countries that begin to legalize bitcoin as a means of payment and transaction tools how easy to use transactions with bitcoin we just use bar code only and we no longer carry paper money to transact. . . . . and if governments in various countries start discussing bitcoin, the government should immediately legalize bitcoin because bitcoin is a very easy and fast digital currency to transact and a very secure security system for holders and bitcoin users. :)

Who will be responsible for the consequences? Governments cannot predict the consequences of legalizing cryptocurrencies. Therefore, it is easier to ban the cryptocurrency. Each user of a cryptocurrency is worried about his well-being. Therefore, there is no unity in the bitcoin community. If we could stick to a General strategy that can be a lot of misery we could avoid. But it's the lyrics.

if we give em a lesson about bitcoin, of course they will reject it, because the didn't know technology behind it and of course maybe the government will consider bitcoin as a legal global currency

Bitcoin is already a legal currency. The only thing that government needs to do is to accept bitcoin in their lands. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, which means it was created or developed solely for the use in the internet world. It cannot be used as a global currency because it has many limitations in terms of physical aspect. For example, no internet you cannot use bitcoin. I suggest you must read several topics about this one in the previous posted topics.

Yes as per news says Japan already made bitcoin as a LEGAL currency and payment method, but I think throughout the world when it comes to payment method because some business is accepting bitcoin as a payment, it's just that when we talk about making money and change it into other currency in that we always have the argument about legalizing bitcoin.and in my  opinion there will time that government will go to decide to legalize bitcoin if they can put taxes on bitcoin. It's simple logic that if you ask something to someone they are going to say yes to it if they can profit from it as well

Since the crypto currency has no territorial boundaries and has spread all over the world, governments of all countries are forced to consider the process of its legalization for official circulation within each country and its certain regulation, the establishment of a tax on income from the crypto currency. Each state can not help noticing the presence of crypto currency in the country, since it exerts a strong influence on the economy and financial settlements between citizens and other business entities.

At this moment, the issue with Bitcoin with regards to legalizing it, is its marjet value volatility. But I think if ever it will be legal to most of the counteies or globally, the problem will be solved sinxe the demand will be high which will make its price highly stable. But it still depends on the government of every country wether to make it legal or not. Surely they have basis, knowing that Bitcoin is volatile. But i am hoping that in the future, it will be legal worldwide.

I am still waiting to read where the Japanese fully legalize bitcoin as a legal currency because I am yet to read the official release to that effect but considering bitcoin as a global currency is something that might not happen in our life time. Since the 1970s there have been some machineries put in place to ensure that the countries in Africa adopt one current but till today, after several years, its still not possible not to talk about a global currency. Should government consider it? Yes but not anytime soon.

It's never going to happen since governments can't control it. Also, it's too difficult for the average person to transact with it. And it's not stable enough to be a currency. Plus if the internet goes down or all computers get hit with an EM pulse (atomic blast) you can forget about all cryptos!

I think governments should come on-board with this new innovation, as to legalize the currency on a global scale. The currency has its own potentials and values which could also be of benefits to the government. So, i believe the government should look for a way to curb the regulatory challenge, so as to effect it on a global level.

Most governments don't trust bitcoin, but apply tax on them. You can't play on two side board, and without properly answer from government, bitcoin is a legal global currency. Government can regulate bitcoins with tax and prohibition, but they can't totally kill.

It is up the country’s policy whether they want to accept bitcoin or not. It is the responsibility of the finance experts of any country to give something to the policy makers about bitcoin to believe in.

Every government official may not be having a clear idea about bitcoin and its effect to the economy whether it affects directly or indirectly, here the role of people having knowledge of currency and economy comes into action, they should have enough proof about how bitcoin can play its role towards the development of the country.

They should be. They are already earning from bitcoin by placing those taxes. That is how greedy governments are. If you do not pay your taxes then you are a criminal to their eyes.
They certainly would not! If the governments were to choose between banning Bitcoin or placing tax on it, the sure bet is that, majority would jump at having it banned instantly, because they can't stand its competitive edge over their local currencies. It takes only a progressive minded and free country like Japan to be willing to stand up for technology and innovations, most others, because they've things to hide, would not support any technology that could wash their dirty linen in public.

Well, I don't know... kinda scary idea, this world currency is. Bitcoin could however serve this purpose. As it is decentralised and by design "influence free", by this I mean no one will be able to lock you from your coins, sweep you of the grid etc.
But there is one more factor here, governments are full of older people, some of them "cant even in to internets", I can't imagine how and when, such concrete political establishment could understand and appreciate cryptocurrency's values. And I'm completely neglecting banks opposition.
Japan somehow made it... but they are weirdos ;) 20years ahead of everybody else...maybe some day but not soon, rest of the world will follow them.

Governments around the world are trying to come to terms with risks and benefits of considering crypto currencies as legal currency. They have to take into account some critical aspects, such as consumer protection, taxation and above all, criminal activities.

The regulation is a mosaic of different opinions around the world and I think Japan is a pioneer, having already legalized the use of digital currencies. Something needs to be done in the near future as a new disruptive economy has been emerging very fast and governments cannot ignore the problem for long.

The consequences of legalizing bitcoin? Bitcoin is not like alcohol or some other substance, bitcoin is just a coin and it does nothing by itself, if the adoption is big then that is going to bring prosperity to the country if it is not then nothing happens, the only bad consequence of this could be some criminals using bitcoin but that is inevitable after all criminals are going to use something whether it is legal or not.

In some countries bitcoin is not adoptable because of its volatility and tax revenue issues. The government are still in the process of providing a regulatory control to avoid its users of being victimized by hackers. To ensure the proper knowledge of bitcoin process. Eventually and hopefully sonner they will accept the reality that bitcoin is our future and our future global currency.

I personally think that government should go along with the step that Japan made for bitcoin since it actually benefits and help people and government legalizing it would improve this community.
It is a good idea to look at japanese government. Bitcoin had been finally legalized there and today it is growing rapidly and bring many benefits to people  and economy of the country. If some big countries in the world having economic power follow  to accept and legalize bitcoin, bitcoin could be accepted easier to be a global currency. May be  it operates as an alternative payment instrument and not to replace fully the local currency.

It was a huge advantage for japan to use bitcoins since the value of cryptocurrency in the market is continuously increasing and they will probably use the profit that they will earn to improve their own economy.

I don't think the governments are ready to accept bitcoin as a legal global currency. Bitcoin is something that they don't have any control over and that is something the governments hate and wont ever let grow. But bitcoin has grown big enough that banning it is not an option and only time will tell what happens.

If Japanese have already done it why can't we? This consideration of bitcoin should put us one step ahead into cashless society. Even if there are risks in allowing bitcoin as global currency I know that someday in the near future there will already have the answer how to fix it.
That's true there is the possibility, because the government see that it can help people has a big help to the people and it can helps to solve poverty. For the government of most countries in the world it is extremely unprofitable to make the Crypto currency an official way of paying for anything ... only if this is not their own crypto currency, but in this case it will have little in common with the classical crypto currency. It will be centralized and it will be easy to track all payments.

In Japan, bitcoin is recognized as a means of payment, not a legal legal currency. Now almost all states are also faced with the choice of recognizing or not recognizing crypto currency as a means of payment. The results of such decisions will be different and contradictory, since the crypto currency is a completely new and completely unexplored phenomenon. Crypto-alyuta should eventually go to all states, but for a long time it will have a different status.

Yes, recognizing Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in the eyes of law would not only help the industry to grow in a structured manner but also it will help the governments to eliminate the negative elements. If someone has the option to purchase or sell Bitcoins through a KYC enabled platform approved by the government then why would someone go with cash transactions. I personally have no issues with the platform if it is sending my wealth information to the government, I don't have issues with taxes too but I need control of my wealth with me and not with someone else.

I think that should not, because it will instantly affect the entire financial system, where the main market regulator will be large investors. Eventually all governments in the world will recognize bitcoin as an official and bonafide global currency. But as of now, due to its unstable nature and high volstility rate, not even its developers could be able to recognizezit as an official currency that can be used in daily transactions. Time will come when bitcoin would be stable, and we wouldn't have to worry about bitcoin not being declared as a currency. That decision will be dependable on the people usage if Bitcoin will be legalized and already been legally accepted by the government of a certain state or country. As far as I know, there are people who have been using Bitcoin and other types of cryptocurrency even their government was still not agreeing with it but they are just free to use it because maybe the government was still observing what will be the possible outcome if ever Bitcoin will be legalized as a currency so maybe in the near future, government will certainly legalize Bitcoin usage.

Interesting question.
OK, assume that some country really accept bitcoin as legal currency.
For the national currency we know who is responsible, central bank and government.
They print money and are legally responsible if anything happens like theft of money, abuse etc.
What about bitcoin?
Who can be legally responsible for bitcoin?
Local government, central bank?
What about legal protection?
No way that bitcoin can become legal and accepted as official currency.

I do not think it's so easy that the government will legalize bitcoin and only some countries can legalize it and it also takes a long process .. because a country has formed a government where everyone is smart in it and there will definitely be pros and cons .. and it is not easy to be able to legalize bitcoin even though bitcoin can really help the economy in this country ..

Japan already made bitcoin a legal currency. Would you consider your countries to also pass a law recognizing bitcoin as a legal form of currency?
If it would be recognized by the law then it would lead to bitcoin being legal tender which will soon lead to the eradication of local currencies, possible but not at the moment nor for the next decade or so. There are a lot of small businesses in our country and a lot of people who cant simply afford and understand this technology.

There is no such possibility. I do not think BitCoin could be the common currency.
Bitcoin is just crypt money. The price sometimes drops, sometimes it increases. That's all.
The main thing we need to stop is blockchain. This system with technology will make our life more.

Yeah the government knows that there will be pros and cons regarding bitcoin. of course the government will calculate carefully what they should do with bitcoin. certainly by looking at the advantages and disadvantages they might get. but the concern of most governments is that bitcoin harms the government because of the nature of decentralization? but seems some countries do not see bitcoin as currency but as an asset.

Some government will never consider or make bitcoin illegal for they can't make money or tax it specially those corrupt government. Bitcoin being anonymous is hard to trace every transactions made so it will make them have a hard time to earn or tax it. There will be pros and cons when using bitcoin and I admire those countries who support bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

I think that would be a great thing if Bitcoin will be legalized as a form of currency in our country just like what Japan did, it would really help a lot of people, the regular working people and not the big time rich business men who would just want to have control over all things. I just hope they will be able to see it as a great help to people and to the economy and set aside selfish itentions and personal gains.

Again, before this would happen bitcoin will first be regulated by the government. Of course this will be a challenge since bitcoin is decentralized and a lot of users/ investors are against it.

Lawmakers should be enlighten first with bitcoin's technology but of course they'll demand for liability should problem would arise.

If to consider bitcoin as world currency is still not feasible because lately there are still many countries that still prohibit the existence of bitcoin to grow so it still needs approval from the government as well as residents when starting to rely on bitcoin as the world currency in the future. So that no one feels in disadvantage with the existence of this rule.

I believe they should since Bitcoin or any other digital currencies have the same functions as fiat. Digital currencies may not have any physical traits but that doesn't stop the fact that digital currencies are now being used as mediums of exchange as with fiat. Regulations will be made in order to make digital currencies as legal tenders. Something that mist of us are against but necessary if we want them to be legal.

Bitcoin is neither considered illegal nor legal, Bitcoin is currency and acts like a currency like how trade goes. The government is having a hard time considering Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as something very viable is that they cannot control it and have power over it. Also the illegal part about Bitcoin is not the coin itself but the people using Bitcoin to make anonymous transactions to do illegal stuff. If the government manage to co-work with Bitcoin and overcome their disagreement over decentralization maybe one day Bitcoin would be accepted by the government.

the only thing that keeps bitcoin from being recognize by the government is its price volatility because a price differential might happen if a sudden change of price when buying and selling goods. All reason that remains are positive ones that outmatched fiat one is its safe transaction because their is no physical money rather its digital you can pay anywhere in the world anytime and the fees are more cheap comparable to other means of payment.

I think the government should consider the presence of Bitcoin as a global and legal currency. Due to the fact that Bitcoin is widespread throughout the world and can be used almost everyone. If in every government to do the form of legalization to Bitcoin as it is currently done by the country of Japan. I can not imagine what the price will be for bitcoin, because if every country does a legalized form of Bitcoin, of course this is the gap where every investor in the world, and will go in and invest in Bitcoin. It's not an easy task for government to accept Bitcoin as a legal global currency since they look at it as a threat to their own currencies and it has conquered the internet world already dominating ever online business which makes it to be the largest on the internet.

Some businesses are accepting bitcoin as a payment. It's just that when we talk about making money and change it into other currency in that we always have the argument about legalizing bitcoin. There will be time that government will have to decide in legalization in bitcoin if they can put taxes in bitcoin.Government should consider bitcoin as a legal in global currency.

The governments look out for one thing, and that is to impose regulations on Bitcoin. Perhaps, bitcoin will lose its decentralized nature when the governments get a hand in this as they will hunt for a total control over the transactions of Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies. Or maybe, there has to be a shared power.

Bitcoin is a crypto currency which can operate globally for the day to day requirement of the human being. Now the developing countries governments are found scared of to implement bitcoin to their own countries because of their lack of technical know how about the crypto coins. In my view it will be advisable to operate parallel to the national currency with bitcoin.Years back during the financial recession period crypto currency could help the nations such as Greece, Japan, Venezuela , Brazil and Argentina. The above countries  survived from the recession with the help of bitcoin

I think yes. Many legal entities usually can not work with crypto currency normally, if there is no normal legal basis.

Government must take some efforts to make bitcoin legal and tell the banks to make some different deposit systems where people can put their money safe and maintain their cryptocurrecy through that account. If government have the power to control digital market then many people will surely invest on cryptocurrency.

The idea is good But who will be the issuer of this currency If it is a certain circle of persons, then it will slightly differ from the candy holder named dollar. If it is a global decentralized issue, there will be difficulties with consensus. And sooner or later the issue will be needed, here you can not manage one-off digitally numbered coins

Nothing wrong if governments start giving consideration to bitcoin as a global currency. Even with the traditional currency it has got different flaws, so at least can give importance as an alternative or a secondary solution for transaction purposes without restrictions which will help with the growth.
I agree with you, there's nothing wrong about if government will allow or consider Bitcoin as a legal global cryptocurrency. It would be a positive news for all the Bitcoin users.
I do not think so, when Bitcoin becomes a global legal currency under the permission of the government, this field will be more popular and we should remember that the profit from this is very attractive, many people can quit the job and go to bitcoin. Especially young people, a society where young people only focus on earning bitcoin and miss learning, miss the future, the development of a country will be affected, and licensing is not positive news, it is even negative when it means that our profits and operations will be managed by the government, we will not feel free and comfortable

the majority of governmets as far as I can see, consider to implement some taxes into cryptocurrencies, which means that them are considering to make it legal, because if something is illegal it can`t be taxed.

I think its about time for any government to recognize Bitcoin and allow for its public use. Bitcoin has many perks and benefits that it can offer to people and its just wasted because only a handful percent of the population can actually use Bitcoin and know Bitcoin. If the government and Bitcoin can somehow make things work it would be a huge leap to attain convenience by using digital currency.

If the government consider Bitcoin as a legal global currency the pattern of Bitcoin will change they will try to impose people some rules and regulations and the government will try to centralize Bitcoin as fiat currency and it will never benefit people's well being .  For example the fiat currency which the people earns they have no freedom to use as their hard earned money without the banks or governments consent . If the Bitcoin is legalized it will help for the countries economic growth also .
