Instagram bans ICO and crypto ads! Following Facebook, it has forbidden everybody to place on its site any information which referrers to ICO projects. You will not see any news about it there.

This policy is intentionally broad while we work to better detect deceptive and misleading advertising practices, and enforcement will begin to ramp up across our platforms including Facebook, Audience Network and Instagram. We will revisit this policy and how we enforce it as our signals improve.

This is really happening now. Governments are really doing all they can to prevent Bitcoin and other ALTS and ICOs from accessing and making a popularity about them. This would really cause some problems in terms of bounty campaigns. This followed the facebook outright banning the ICOs and other Crypto news. I hope they will see how beneficial the ICOs are and only those scam ICOs should be banned. Or, ICO industries should make a policy and coordinate to instagram and facebook, which are only one owner.

Maybe he wants more, he wants the whole pie? As Durov with telegram, probably Mark also wants to launch his ICO, raise 20-30 billion and live forever))

It's similar to what governments are doing. They don't want to ban crypto, they want it regulated. Regulation takes time, so the initial position is to ban everything until such time as there is sufficient oversight, then cryptos will be allowed again. They even say this 'policy is intentionally broad'. Give it time, the scams will be blocked and legitimate projects will be permitted.

Are you sure Instagram bans ICO? I've googled but found only information about the Facebook. They ban the pictures or hashtags?

I think we do not lose much from the blocking of crypto-currency advertising in Instagram. Because Instagram is a social network where people share their photos, that is, all attention is focused on what kind of picture you upload.  What information can be presented in the field of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, downloading one photo or a small video? Social networks, such as facebook, twitter, are more suitable for disseminating information, because in addition to the attached files (photos, videos), you can expand any information.

because in short Instagram doesn't have any "Ads" to ban anything from it or not! Facebook is a webpage which they place banner ads around that web page. Instagram doesn't have any banner ads! it is clean and shows what users have nothing else.

I think Instagram is just following Facebook. Nor would I consider this a sign that many countries want to ban cryptocurrencies. Instagram forbids ICO. Perhaps they think ICO has affected the user's experience, and that's all.

If Facebook already banned crypto ads for sure instagram will follow since instagram is owned by facebook. Well that is their company so let's respect their decision in banning crypto, for sure they have good reasons for banning such ads. Especially most coins advertised in this platforms are bogus or only directed to self gain of the owners and developers of the coins which stealing money from the people, and knowing that facebook won't allow any illegal activities in their network especially they are using these platforms for advertisement. Facebook and Instagram are just protecting their names and does not want to be involved in any illegal activity that could potentially destroy their good names.

Yesterday I got the news about Facebook banning bitcoin advertisement on it's platform.  Now today again getting the same story from Instagram is really shocking. Though Instagram is wholly owned by Facebook so this decision coming after Facebook ban may not be so surprising.  
But as the Facebook can actually control the ads as there are ads too around the posts but Instagram having no ads having only viewers' opinion so I think there will be no effect of Instagram ban on crypto currency market.  
It may too be business tactics of Facebook.  May be they are wishing for higher rewards for their services.

Wow, i never thought they starts it so fast, yesterday i still saw some ads about crypto in facebook, and today i didn't see any.
Seem like most of the country and big platform is going against crypto. Maybe this is the biggest challenge for crypto to survive??

I have heard about banks that pulls down cryptocurrencies or thoae banker try to stop them up. Another, Facebook that bans Post about cryptos, and now, I can see a threadbthat Instagram will soon banned it too. What's happening? it feels like they're trying to put it down, and I can't help it. Not surprised that this has happened to Instagram as Facebook is owned by Instagram. Facebook two days ago announced the ban on crypto ads. But I would worry more about the Facebook one than the Instagram, because in terms of advertising the Facebook platform has two major advantages, (1) it has a wider audience to the world than Instagram (2) Facebook is more flexible in terms of how you want to post or promote adverts, Instagram isn't as it is more "picture-centric". The ban is for paid advertising, not user generated content. This will leave bounty campaigns as the only option to promote your ICO on social media.

I don't think this is a major issue or will any effect on prices.If you think about advertising and popularity than banning one thing is also a way of advertising as you give that thing negative publicity and people will start searching about crypto and all.Apart from this there is nothing that this news can do.

The big guys of the Internet are ganging up to stop the BTC revolution by banning crypto ads. There might also be a hidden political agenda to stop people from moving to crypto investing. Facebook and Instagram are fine, but I hope Twitter takes a different route as the way I see it, twitter is much more popular among crypto community.

I never invested in ICOs and never will, so this news is good for me as the money coming into crypto will be put in the existing projects. It pretty much benefits all of us who are holding the coins that are already in the "system".

Instagram and facebook are nothing in cryptocurrencies. No one depends of those social media. If they ban ICO ads, I think the developers not care enough about the social media. Well Facebook is a different story as there are more features that can be utilized. Facebook is somewhat material but long term it won't matter. Though I still see lots of crypto ads in Facebook. I haven't tried Instagram but who cares. There are lots of alternatives to Instagram.

The government across the globe is trying their best to minimize the popularity of crypto currency because this will likely affect the global standpoint of each country financially. And things beyond their control are not acceptable. Mostly this covers the different social media sites that has the biggest impact in the popularity of crypto currencies.

I would agree with social media networks that they no longer support in promoting ICOs and Altcoins stuff because their platform is to keep people closer to the communities and not be the victim of scams and fraud ICOs it things like that.
There's a lot of ways in promoting ICOs and Altcoins outside Facebook and Instagram and Twitter.
Youtube is the most reliable source of information about ICOs and Cryptocurrencies.

It's just another move in the global war unleashed against cryptocurrencies.
Banks and governments don't want to lose their power, so they pressure companies to boycott anything have to do with crypto.

Shocked that they are willing to lose some easy cash from ICOs as ICOs are throwing more and more money at marketing to compete. Clearly is a PR thing to show that they are looking after their clients.

Personally I think it is stupid, if you are gullible to throw money into a bad ICO solely on the fact that they claim they will hit a 200% profit in 2 weeks, then it's your loss. Bounty campaigns will now become more valuable to ICOs and they will still share their content.

Hate to be the voice of reason here but most of you guys are just a bunch of clueless whiners. The Banning of ICO ads is actually a good thing.  They are trying to help the average person out there who has no clue about ryptocurrency and just getting sucked in by all the countless hype brought on by these ads.  They are not trying to stop cryptocurrency they are just saving most of your asses. By banning ads it quiets the noise so real investors can properly do their due diligence. The bigger the hype the bigger the crash.

Also anyone with half a brain can find dozens of sites listing every ICO with all the information regarding them.  Real investors don't jump ship the moment things go south.  The major correction we are facing now is because of all these weak hands who are all about they hype. Facebook is not censoring crypto, they are just banning ads okay. Calm down, I need quiet time to analyze the current market opportunity. :P

Yes I also heard this news but for me it will not affect the cryptocurrencies. Facebook is just a little part of this industry, yes it helps in promoting the works of an ICO but even though they banned Crypto ads it will still not affect the values of the coin or even the ICO itself. It is because there are still many sites or social media sites that really helps a lot it promoting the projects of the industry and these are twitter and telegram. They are faster and has more participants and interactors than Facebook and I know it will really help the ICO to promote their company.

I think that the move of Facebook on banning ICO ads now is not a single move and I think this is a move that is planned before Facebook announce it, as i can see how Twitter might follow the step of Facebook and Instagram. If this happened then there will be a site or a new social media that will entertain the cryptocurrency which will be funded by this group. This movement is getting nowhere but setting a platform where they can earn from cryptocurrencies. Facebook has paid advertisements but ICO doesn't need to pay them as people who join the bounties do that for them.

It is nothing new. Since Facebook ban crypto advertisements, Instagram which share the same advertising platform will follow suit. I don’t see it as a bad news. There are too many “money making” kind of advertisements which is not good for crypto image.

Yeah, just heard this news from my friend, only twitter left right now and i hope they won't ban it aswell. Not all ico is bad, some of them is really good but i agree that a lot of ico right now is a pure cash grab with misleading information sometimes so it's not weird if a normal people get scammed and have to report it. It's their decision and i respect that, they can't take risk of getting investigated by police because they are spreading scam ads on their platform.

As someone already mentioned, Instagram is property of Facebook so this should not surprise anyone. Pretty sad that Zuckerberg pulled the move the way he did. Although many ICOs advertising on Facebook were scams, this ruins legitimate companies chance to advertise on there.

That is make sense. Because Facebook and Instagram are the same owner. So what we have left now for advertising? Only this forum, twitter, and Google Ads. But i believe, we don't need booth. The power of a project does not always depend on advertising media, but from the community itself.

This is an expected response from word recognized social media sites and they also need to maintain their standard and brand name among the top in competitive market of their own. These type of bans are imposed due to some scams and spams. The better side of this is, the new project team will think about this and they will make a good, quality projects so that any medium does not want to stop them.

I am shocked they did this because it is quick easy money for them. But I am happy the fact that I will see less spammy adverts from ICOs that I am not interested in.

But they are only banning paid adverts, the groups and bounties will stay there so I don't think it will have a huge impact on ICOs.

Currently, Instagram is not an important place for spreading the ideas of the crypto community. Everyone wants to see pictures only and do not receive text information.

Specially for all the ICOs out there that are still about to start since we all know that most of the time, the social media platforms are what these ICOs use to advertise their ICO to be able to gain huge amount of supporters and investors that will support their project. I really am scared that time will come when all the social media platforms out there will really follow the other sites and also ban anything that is related to cryptos and ICOs. Even twitter! Oh how I wish that this scenario will never happen because it will clearly cripple the crypto world as a whole and make it harder for it to be well known to the public. :/

Well, Instagram is just part of Facebook, so it is obvious that it made the same decision.
But in the meanwhile that facebook ban is really a problem for ICOs promoter, Instagram is not a so important space: as social media has a very low target, its member just share tons of selfies, I don't think they will ever heard about ICO...

Yeah that's a disadvantage for bounty and projects. Currently, facebook is the most popular social networking site in the world and advertising on facebook will be a huge advantage for the project. But now facebook and instagram prohibit the advertising. Members who work on projects have lost their livelihood. That is really bad.

Really doubt they could implement total ban including the page of a certain individual, banning crypto paid ads is really needed at the current state in facebook, so much scam Lending ICO sprouting almost everyday victimizing innocent people who are new to crypto, but totally banning crypto how will they do that? are they going to censored every post or topic discussion being made by certain individuals in their platform?! nah! 

did not hear such news. it's very sad if it's true. why should they ban the instagram? I do not think that this is real news. although recently the instagram bans everything.

Apparently the government really took up the ban on crypto currency.
They do not want the broad masses to know about this, because it's a good salary, and the poorer people, the easier it is to control them.
I hope that we survive this.

After facebook also instagram: this prohibition I find it excessive, it is right that there is a minimum of regulation but if all social networks start to prohibit talking about cryptocurrencies should be abandoned because these are absurd restrictions

I don't know about this information, but a few days ago Facebook made the decision to ban all Bitcoin-related ads, cryptocurrencies and ICO. The reason facebook launched is to prevent the scams in the market cryptocurrency now, especially ICO. Instagram is under the control of Facebook, it may also be influenced by that decision. I think that decision is also reasonable, because there are now many scam ICO projects

It's not good that instagram bans any crypto related ads. Btw I've read that facebook is doing the same thing. So how to make PR of new good project?

You know, this is part of the global attack against cryptocurrencies. But I'm very positive that bitcoin will bypass all the difficulties.
The blockchain technology is too powerful to be crushed by some bureaucrats.

As you can see facebook and instagram don't care. Why should they? Apparently there are lot's of people getting scammed through those platforms and it also seems like it's the target audience some of these ico's prey on.

Instagram is part of facebook now, so there is no surprise in this move.
But people on instagram are too busy to make selfies and to post pics of cats, to have the time to learn about cryptocurrency, so it's not a big loss.

Well, it seems that a global war against the crypto world has started, even if I suspect it's a fake war, just to low the price of bitcoin.
Btw, US government banned ICO, so it's normal that Instagram and facebook respect the indications.

Seems a bit melodramatic, all this hue and cry over insta ads. Whether facebook or insta, ads have never been welcome by most users, and to be free of unnecessary scams, a boon. Twitter and Telegram and even Facebook are still popular and useful platforms for exchange of any legit information.

I think thats a bad news for cyrpto world but good news for scam issue.Because of that less people see the commercials and less people invest to the scam projects

Well, if ICOs are banned in the US, it seems to me normal that US based companies as facebook and instagram align themselves with the government will.
Where there will be some kind of regulation of the market, you will see that the ban will be removed.

In many case these big companies announce the ban, but then facts don't necessarily follow the words. Facebook should allegedly have banned cryptocurrency related ads but I happened to see one ad on FB just minutes ago.

They doing it pretty bad as I still seeing everyday many ico and crypto ads on both platformd! 😂

facebook and instagram ads under same platform so should follow same rules , Unfortunately  there was many ICO scam ads last days and still in facebook , adsense , and many ads platform , So I think they are right but problem is news like that affect crypto market badly So we need more control and regulation for ICOs

If Facebook owns Instagram then there's no doubt that it will ban crypto related ads since Facebook did that already a week ago. I don't really use IG but I think there's only a few advertisements there so far. I think the most affected on this was those who are doing Instagram bounty campaigns as it lessens their option to earn more stakes.

Instagram belongs to Facebook, and facebook also banned ICO and crypto ads. :)

Who cares? It's probably good for the users in my opinion because a lot of people perceive crypto as only useful as a speculative asset because of the ads that have been placed on instagram/facebook. And a lot of them were scam ads like Bitconnect, regalcoin, monetizecoin, etc.

Crypto advertising is by no means dead. Bitcointalk advertisements are still thriving.

It shouldn't have any long term effects on crypto whatsoever. Nothing to worry about.

There are still many ways to pass information about ICO and crypto.
It would be very harmful if twitter and telegram follow this policy, I hope it does not happen. Ignore facebook, mark might be planning something big.

I have seen many ads about Bitcoin, ICO and crypto in Instagram. Thousands of subscribers used to read this information, therefore the ban is also something very negative to affect BTC price. Even a bit.

This was expected, facebook was the first to make the move and everyone followed, but better now than later.

it isn't so bad as people make it look i think , because most of the people they are advertising too don't know much about this technology in general , so they are easy to scam. People interested in it are mostly here or at other communitys..

Well, I did not know this and maybe because Instagram is not as a huge influence just like Facebook and Twitter. I don't feel that it has a massive effect on crypto because it did not even became a hot article or a headline. Facebook is much loss than this.

I refus to believe that government policy has anything to do with Facebook banning crypto ads.
I have also being in CPA marketing for a while now and I believe Facebook have strong policies as regarding the promotion of campaigns that promises monetary returns.

Campaigns get blocked when they seems to promise ridiculous returns for little cash and this is how they cracked down on a lot of ponzi schemes and similarly wen some marketers are promoting tokens they tend to over hype it to lure in costumers.

I would however stand for a reform rather than an outright ban on crypto ads.

Well, its bad news for ICos projects, and crypto in general.  but for bounty hunters its good.  Bounties wiil be higher becouse now icos cant promote thru ads, so the only way will be thru original content posts from real users.    
I have 15 k followers on intagram.  thats good news for me, :o

I think that soon many sites will follow their example not to advertise fraudulent projects. But when the ICO begin to regulate, the advertising of projects can be resumed.
