Every one has a different emotional response to these things, I would rather monitor it daily and get in at the right time.
The doom articles have been around for years, making the same claims, comparing to incomparable pasts, ignoring these is the best advice.
Use your own logic always when trading, if you get it wrong you'll atleast learn and become a better trader, sheep don't trade they just get guided down the wrong path.

If you are new and you've not seen this nature before, go look at the charts over the last few years and you'll start to see this is nothing new, it's all part of a high paced market.

Yes, it's sad that these "crashes" happen but they have to really.. A correction (big one) was needed. If you have been looking into some coins this is the perfect time to buy. Maybe they will drop a little more, so what, if they have a great project they will go up again. Almost certain of profit.

This is not keeping the good vibe, this is just panicking. True, the price is going down, but what would you expect after all the FUD that's been spread last week. But if the outcome is positive tomorrow, after the crypto hearing, the price will rise again.

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the whole Bitconnect thing too. Anytime a large number of people get scammed, the price drops like it did. It scares people away. It usually takes a year or so for it to come back up. But it always has and i'm sure this will be no different.

I am shocked how people in this community don't really see how small the market currently is for the crypto and blockchain technology, this is an emerging technology and its gonna dominate real fast.. people falling with the wave economy and loosing focus on what the big image is...

Funny to hear your tactics but this is the true fact how we analyze the crpytocurrencies. Most of the people panic and sell all their coins but once the coin bumped up they will worry more that this time they sold the coins.
As of now in the forum, I will find many price changes in these 2 years. No need to worry about it at all.

Best advice is don't call it a crashed this what we called a correction. Well you just have to just HODL then divert your self on other thing get into vacation. Don't worry this correction is just normal for the market to be healthy maybe it will go down around 50%-70% but after the correction the price will go up around 150% -  300%. It will start around mid February upto May BTC will go to the moon.

Completely agreed, this correction was a must. Every time were going near the psichological numbers there are thousands of peoples who takes at least some profit from their holdings; we saw this at near 3k, near 5k and last time near 20k. This time dump is stronged by prolonged previuos growth along with regulations and big financial players waiting on the side lines with bags of billions to drow market as low as possible to enter for max profit. Enjoy the show; my guess is well have a dip to 5.8-6k and then go oposite with power.

It is actually a normal phenomenon for a market to experience a crash at one point or another. My advice here, is not to enter the market at this point, Just wait until there is a correction and a reversal. Constant observations should also be made at intervals.

I'm so sick of this being referred to as a CRASH! Yeah, let's all allow the media to hype this correction (which is all it is) and spread panic amongst the uninformed who decided to join the crypto world when the hype was at it's peak.

Does bitcoin still have a use? Hmmm. Maybe. But there are better options now.  Other coins have Faster Transaction Speed | Improved Privacy | Lower Fees.

Will Bitcoin always be king? Unlikely.  Netscape | MySpace | Model T Ford... you get my point.  First generation tech is alway surpassed by subsequent generations.  It's simple evolutionary technological advancement.

While I believe Bitcoin will recover and go ahead to a new ATH, I don't think it is where people should be putting their money longterm.  There are better vehicles being built every day.

Since last Friday, cryptos and stocks are falling big together. Not sure if some big whales or funds are liquidating

I don't know why people misleading the market as the crash, try to understand the market about the correcting their prices. Thats the first usefull thread since the crash was created. Every other thread ist just a fud which the people ask how deep it will go or what should you i do?! This thread gives the right advices to the people. Uninstall the apps, close the computer. Do something which distracts you from the actuall situation. Just chill and dont thing about it. Do some other stuff at look at the charts in a month or two. Forget your coins. Just hodl your coins, everthing will be allright! Cryptocurrencies are to strong to die.

And you're not the only one. That's why all coins instantly go up 20-30% the moment they start rising. Everybody jumps in again!

Best advice for crash is easy, try to find dip (you can accept) and keep growing your wallet. Bigger wallet = bigger returns in future. Noone will allow cryptocurrency market die completely as its so much useful to avoid banks.

One of my crypto mentor always told us to believe in crypto as it is the future. When you already did what is necessary on your coins during this situation then take time to avoid seeing the market and its possible stress brings. Enjoy your day and treat yourself. When crash occurs, set your mind into the future and hodl. The cryptocurrency price is always a cycle of boom and correction. No need to panic when price go down because it will bounce back later.  Learn from the past.

Best advice by far because that's what I did too and have stayed away from Blockfolio, coinmarketcap.com and some trading sites. I think it is much better to keep away from them for now because bitcoins price is still going down and has not been stable yet. Might return back checking these sites and applications around March perhaps?

I think best way for this crash is just hodling the digital coins, if we have other iddle money are better to be invested in cryptos more, because this crash is discounts up to 70% and holding them for couples months later because the price of cryptocurrencies will be recovery soon, the crash of digital coins is not end of the world. It's not a bad 'strategy' if you have covered your daily live expenses.

I plan to stop looking at usd price and wait for few month, while looking for cheap and good alt coins.

In this crash just keep the patience if you have held many coins and in more qty. If the bear is running then bull must come later. This is the real phenomenon of every market. I've actually come to embrace this dip.  I got in at a bad time myself meaning i overpaid most of my portfolio.

Indeed, it's not the first time for me. The first time, I had BTC with a huge growth and a huge down. It was not easy but now I'm confident.
If you aim for a long goal, you'll see that the last year, BTC growth +300% even with the actual parabol (Nov - Feb).

Your point about buying would be fine but why cheap altcoins. You choose all the time bitcoin and ethereum that would be my suggestion bro. Please understand what is the best coin in the market and invest on it. If you invest on the cheap alts you may not sure whether it will be bumped after the price recovered too.

People now invest on bitcoin will find the value triple the amount in 2 months. Imagine if you invest 5k usd and what is its price as I mentioned. You will not find the any investment gives these much profit.

If you want to invest in an ICO that has quite a good team, but is not on the real exchange market yet, I highly can recomment buying sether (SETH) on IDEX. Ethereum is still low in price.
The ICO price was 0.003 ETH (with the preorder bonus 0.0021 ETH). There will be a 30% airdrop on all holders at 15th february. Most people don't know about, so this can be quite viable on the short term, since you also get the bonus when you buy it there. Also HitBTC as an exchange is confirmed for the 1. march. Looking at what people feel about your advice, I don't think this work for those of us that make this a job, it is not a bad advice to start picking up good tokens at discount prices, for me to take advantage of this situation is to buy good tokens and hold the good ones too.

If you believe in the future of the crypto market dont sell!
all you will be doing is putting your coins cheaply on the market for somebody else to pick them up.
You dont have to buy if you dont feel confident to do so at the moment but at least keep hold of your assets and get back in there if and when you want to.

There's no real thing as best advice here. We all have completely unique situations, economic conditions, social backgrounds. Perhaps the best advice is to look at all opinions, weed out the ones without basis, apply all the learnings to your context, and then form your own best judgment. It could still end up being wrong, but at least you have only yourself responsible. Success or failure is all yours, and down to some form of luck.

I bet some traders will not even notice the crash. They buy into crypto now and then, after a while they check and see the profits. If you went on vacation during January then come back mid February then everything will be similar with a slight dip. I think the market is returning, when the engine starts to move then it will rise rapidly. Blink and you will miss it! Best thing to do is to buy up all the cheap alts while you have the chance.

I would like to repost something i read some days ago:

"So, long story short, I started trading a year ago, been margin longing the whole run from 1k to 19k ( sometimes closing the top, sometimes closing too early or too late, but always making profit)

I turned 3 lowly btc which I had from playing poker (at the time 3k) into nearly 200 BTC which was almost 4 million at the top and would be 2 million at current prices.

I thought I was a trading genius, a god, whatever. Anyway, this is where the sadness starts.

After the dump from 19k to 11k I went long at the bottom, and kept adding to my position on the bounce to 12k 13k, 14k. Then, at the 16k dead cat, my position was a further 100 BTC in profit. Instead of closing then and having a total 300 BTC, I increased leverage and increased my position size. This entire position was liquadated on the drop back to 12k, because my entry had moved up so much. I lost 100 btc paper profit and nearly 50 BTC margin. I was devasted, and down to 150 BTC total.

After evaluating the situation, I came to the conclusion that the pump to 16k was a dead cat and that we are going lower. Therefore I shorted. At 12k. Added at 13k. Added at 14 and 15k. Got liquidated at the top at 17k. Another 50 BTC loss. Down to 100.

Think, ok we made a higher high at 17k, uptrend back on. Went long. Got liquidated at 13k.

50 BTC left. Devastated, unsure, no clue whats going on. Sat through the drop to 9k, when we bounced I thought it could be the bottom. Longed at 11500, panic closed 10500. When we went to 13k I was kicking myself for panic closing, went long at 12800.

Liquidated this morning for my last bitcoin.

3 BTC to 200, to 0

At this time I am still in shock, the last few months Ive neglected relationships and school, and Ive been daydreaming about living the high life rich as fuck with my millions.

Now, I am nowhere.

It should be added to his list then HODL after a month if the price came back just like how it did lately. Everything should back in normal after holding and opening it after a month(s). Or they should buy more since the price is cheaper than before while more altcoins are dumping lately that should be the right time to buy and it is gaining back it's price again, i guess the whales are back. We could learn from this experience because now we see how does the Bitcoin move with this fluctuation everyday.

That's good to be successful in bitcoin without marking any loss in between due to the market fluctuations. Same, just think whether this will happen with every bitcoin user. Because most people used to check the market at least once in an hour. Good plan but hard to implement. Lol

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

Nice advice, a can't close coinmarketcap for a whole day.  So for current prices the best option will be buy top coins and then forget about market, in order to prevent silly actions and numerous buy/sell transactions.  I will try to follow your advice

The advice given in the OP may seem to be extreme but I think it is the only way for some people to keep holding their coins in this market, and coincidentally I have seen similar advice in many books about trading, sometimes the best thing to do is to stay away from the market since you are not in your best form to make money out of them or simply the conditions in the market are so bad that making money is impossible.
