I see the market cap of Ethereum is going down day by day. Could someone explain what is really driving down? Is it due to market FUD or sth different.

It is going down just because the bitcoin is facing massive dump. The rest of the coins whether it is ethereum, neo or any other altcoin, they are completely relying on bitcoin for the rise in their market values. This is the major reason why you are observing downfall in the prices of ethereum too. This is not permanent at all, with the passage of some time, ethereum will rise following the leader of crypto market.

As of now, the only way gateway for us to convert a cryptocurrency into fiat currency is Bitcoin. It is why all of these altcoins are relying more on Bitcoin. Unless one or few of them can finally found a way to convert them straight to fiat currency, they would not rely anymore to Bitcoin regardless of the pump and dump. Coins.ph, a Bitcoin wallet for the Philippines, has added Ethereum to their feature that could be converted straight to fiat currency. YOLO wallet will be doing the same too as they are still under development.

I don't believe in your idea that the drop in bitcoin is the reason etheruem has dropped this much. Bitcoin drop could have effected altcoins including etheruem no doubt but my point is, etheruem has fallen more than the effect of the drop in bitcoin. I'm yet to know the reason myself.

If you haven't notice all of the cryptocurrencies are going down and right now and the market is currently on the bearish side. Now we can say that Ethereum is taking a lot of hit but other Altcoins as well as the King are way below their ATH. Look at Ripple which is now worth .50$. The market is scared right now to put their money to cryptocurrencies that is why a lot of them are pulling out their money keeping it safe by holding Fiat currency temporarily. But when the FUD is over as well as when cryptocurrencies look to have an attractive price people will start buying cryptocurrencies again. We must not worry about this stage of the market, we should even take advantage of the current situation right now.

Whats going on currently is not the FUD but its for real but natural dumps. Also its not just about the ETH market really but it is about almost all the altcoin and the bitcoin itself. Everything here is interconnected and unless and until BTC market recover all other coins will see the same sort of dumps. ETH is no other exception but also getting hampered into this mess. The market however is supposed to recover this month and few instances shows that the market is green but not fully shown the signs of recovery.

This is something different and I can read that its all about the BTC thats moving the other coins along with it. We cant help it in anyway but we can just hold and expect the market recovery as we all are in the dumps stage and loosing our investment at very faster pace.

Well I would say it's because bitcoin is also dumping, and as we already know, when bitcoin is falling, usually all altcoins suffer even greater losses. Even though ethereum is considered to be more than just an altcoin, I guess that we being proved wrong.

Of course that from the top10 altcoins, ethereum is probably the one that is suffering the most, and the only reason I see for that, is the adds ban that we have been seeing lately. Ethereum is tied to ICOs, and ICOs are not seeing good days because of tight regulation. Also let's not forget that a lot of ICOs failed or scammed people recently, and all of those things end up hurting ethereum.

FUD is also a factor contributing to the decrease in value of Ethereum, alongside some other factors. Ethereum has a platform that holds other alts, and now that the market is in its bearish direction, it simply means most of those coins are down as well, which in turn affects the Ethereum.

But for recent price jump, mostly lot of new investors money was the reason but if one see this kind of high volatility many of those first-time investors may not come back to crypto if they already lost lot money in this bear market. I'm not sure how long the down market will continue but it looks like may be lost for very long time so don't hurry and buy all at once instead spread your buy orders and accumulate in small quantities.

The main reason is when Bitcoin price is kept decreasing automatically the price of ETH decreasing, this is main reason that everevery one knows but some FUD will also make to decrease it's price.

Basically no one knows what is happening with the crypto currencies, because it is a world wide and decentralized system and we have not the possibility to analyse why and what happens in each country.

But I personally believe that investors who were greedy and pushed the price to its all time high were selling to take the profits. Then the newbies and unaware investors were panicking and also started to sell and this caused and still causes it. Because it is very unlikely that the demand of the private and normal users suddenly decreased for 70%.

I think the reason is because of the dump of btc which affected the market badly and i heard some coins actually went down but i think that's just a useless coin and also eth got affected drastically

Apparently for newbies this has taken a bad toll. I invested 4000 dollar, now I am down to 2000 including Ethereum in my portfolio. However, I am learning much more about crypto-economics and good projects. As long as the project features Scalabiity, Performance and Reliability, Interperobaility and Sustainability, I could imagine that it would be very good for future not just on monetary value but essentially as a product or service itself. However, the regulation of ICOs is itself in question with no investor protection, and I read that there will be shift from ICOs to STOs where investors have more protection.

Besides the bitcoin price dump other reason we may conclude is the ban on facebook, google and twitter towards cryptocurrency ads mostly the one who is affected with the ban is the ICO's most of the projects promote their incoming crowdsale through this platforms and mainly they used smart contracts from ETH to create ERC20 tokens not all of the projects use ETH blockchain but most of them depend on the said platform so Ether is the one who took the beating down from the market crash.

I think this action is only temporary because they are the 3 biggest advertising companies in the world. For me they are trying to create FUD to make the ETH price drop so strong that they can buy at cheap rates and then they will create good news to give the community a new look at the 3 advertising companies. Then the ETH price will go to the moon and will reach $2000

The entire market is going down, so it's not just like you can single out ETH and say that it's only them. The entire market is going through a massive downturn, massive amounts of money are leaving the market and people are scared.

Also, when the price of Bitcoin crashes the price of altcoins crash -- that's how it works. If the pairings were different, as in if the pairings weren't all bitcoin then maybe things would be a bit different but that's not the case -- that's something we can try to change for the future.

Ethereum is not only one coin dumping in the market but when seeing the last year market movement on ethereum by comparing with this year means It completely range now. Last year ethereum bumped 350 percentage but this year almost 1100 USD value dumped from the peak value of ethereum.

Current price fluctuations on the mareket is crashing almost every cryptocurrency in the market. This all happening because of the world political move. Simply we are getting fucked up in the market.

The main reason is for the advertising bans on facebook, twitter, google, in addition to all the regulations that try to put the banks in different parts of the world, this is passenger, not hy that to enter panic

For my thought, the reasons are the same as for bitcoin, market is unstable right now, so we can wait stupid things from it. I would rather hold my currencies for better times.

I guess that's not the main reason. Because, the decline in prices Ethereum and Altcoin others have occurred before the ban on the facebook ads, twitter and google put into effect. I think the main problem is to the loss of public confidence in cryptocurrency or the sense of community disappointment which may have been exhausted and hurt sees the whale's treatment which ultimately impacts the departure of the community to stay away from cryptocurrency

That's normal when it come to marker especially in crypto coz if you can see the bitcoin value now was dump and almost all altcoin was affected but i'm pretty sure they pump again not now but i think soon, so don't panic when that situation comes.

Probably this is due to the real demand for Ethereum is very low in which investors still can't decide to join the investments because the market is still in difficult or not healthy at this moment and I'm afraid that this will become worst if the total ban of ICO advertisement by the social media will take effect on June in which it might reduce the ICO numbers which means the demand for Ethereum will going to reduce too.

what a load of bullshit , eth is one of the biggest coins out there. they have no reason to advertise on facebook/twitter/google so why would it influence them. I think the biggest reason is just that the market is fucked now , all coins are going down.
maybe a lot of projects are selling the eth they raised in their ico , but that isn't the main reason.

Etherium is just depending on the price of Bitcoin and i Believe that because of bitcoin downtrend not just etherium is affected, all altcoins as well.But this all time low of the Bitcoin and all the altcoins doesn't mean crypto is dying.For me this is the best chance to buy and hold your assets and get some profits soon when the market get back to oits normal flow.Waiting is the best way to do after buying some assets in a very low price.So this is the chance to every body.

Yeah but not only eth that go down all of the alt coin also go down because of BTC price falling down sharply, in order to alt coin to go up , BTC price need to go up first, and there were no fud that cause eth price falling down, but the market still very unstable and there are not many investors put new funds into crypto

Try to observe more because not only ethereum is going down but almost of all the coin or tokens in the market are going down but I think the main reason why the market is red now because bitcoin still dumping and if you notice the basis of all crypto is bitcoin and for sure there are many investors pulling their money because they don't want to lose more that's why eth price is also affected.

But really the price for etheruem has dropped drastically, diving from $1,000 plus to just $400. Is surprising to me because I'm particularly watching on the coin to be a good chase for bitcoin. I'm waiting for its green again.

I heard bitmain is going to produce special ASICS for mining Ethereum , so it would be easier to mine it then than to set up a rig with GPUs,that could be a good reason to bring Ethereum down .

It is not only the market of the ETH which is falling. In fact, the overall crypto market is facing lot of problem now-a-days and that the market value of almost all the crypto coins is falling and the only reason behind all this is the panic selling which is being done by so many of the investors who were there in the world of the crypto currencies. Not only ETH, the crypto market is in a bad state and unfortunately, the bad situation is prolonging. The same thing happened in the early months of 2017. However, I have to say that there are more complex changes in the market this year. Like experts predict this year is the year of strong volatility in the crypto market. not only eth but all the crypto coins have decreased drastically and significantly because we know now that all coins are decreasing. so I think this is not a bad thing and this is a normal thing so I think we need not worry.

We have come in that period of time, when even the main competitor of Bitcoin is falling. I think its just a bad period, the people who have invested in BTC, ETH and the altcoins are just scared because everything is on a downfall. there are a lot of reasons why ETHEREUM market went down everyday and quite many compared to others.
like bear market that we are facing right now,a rumour about his action and lastly money from ICOs.
but you should know that ETHEREUM will not fall that deep,
because everything(most of them) is based on ERC20 token,and it came from ETHEREUM itself.
so in my opinion,nothing to worry about.even though the price goes down significantly in the next few weeks later.

Ethereum isn't the only coin going down, the entire crypto market is going down.  All the altcoins tend to go down more than bitcoin because people begin to sell off from altcoin to bitcoin.  This causes the ratio to drop which makes it so that altcoins drop a couple of percent more than bitcoin.  Im not sure why people do this but its something to keep in mind during the next bear market.

I do not think it's just the ethereum that goes down but all the coins down, maybe because the bitcoin price also goes down which has a big impact on other coins but I do not think because bitcoin prices go down, probably because it bans crypto ads on the world's top sites that affect all coin prices.

Fluctuation is always there, either you are trading altcoin or any other altcoin, Etherium has a lot of potential and its price will surely increase too much, we just need to keep eye on Etherium price and when the upward trend starts then we should invest money in Etherium, because Etherium can give us a good profit, i think if a person can afford he should also invest money in Etherium right now.

There is not really a direct explanation that we can give, ethereum is going down simply because all the market is going down there is nothing wrong with ethereum or something that we can pinpoint specifically to ethereum that is making it to go down, probably the only thing that is affecting ethereum directly is the current banning of cryptocurrency ads in several social media platforms.

yes I also think if all coin prices are decreasing and not just focused on ethereum. so I think if you have a coin you can hold a coin and maybe we can see it as the best thing than selling at cheap price.

Bagholding is much better rather than selling at loss since we can still cover our loss when everything on the market became normal. But we can do a short term trade with it or maybe buy more at the cheapest price. We should not fear on this current decline since this happenings are pretty normal and although loss are so fearful still we should not let ourselves to get loss since everything has potential to rise.

Its not just ethereum, the general market cap is going down too... this is normal so there is nothing to worry about. Just remember that eventually there will be a bullish trend and after that bullish trend we shall see a bearish trend.

it's because the current market conditions are not conducive and many bad news that attack cryptocurrency which eventually a little trading in ethereum which eventually make the volume ethereum to be thinning not only ethereum just seems some coin affected by the reduction of bitcoin price also experienced a reduction in volume trading. hopefully this nightmare does not last long and can make price recovery quickly.

But this is not end of cryptocurrency, this down will finish and will change to up trend in a few month later. Not only ETH was big drop but all crypto, so dont worry about that, will be any times for the price going up.

Yeah i think everytime as I've said from my previous opinions all crypto coins fall down nothing is in exceptions. Think of the same as going up and think of it why was it going really up then think the opposite of it then you'll get your answer.

In my own opinion about ethereum's price going down in market , i think it is because of too much altcoins that runs out and dominating the exchanges, most bounties or ICO's that are already over are not supporting erc20 tokens and that's why ethereum is falling down.

Now I understand for 100% why the ETH is going down. Its all because of worried people like you and people who are very very concerned about the prices of ETH or any coin in the market. Obviously all of them are 2x worried about the BTC also and that is why they are pulling the king behind as well. With that in mind the queen has to follow the path too! We are literally disturbing the market and unknowingly creating lot of FUD's around us. We talk about it but new people read about it in completely different way and thus make it look like worse. Just imagine if forum was full of positive threads everywhere then what we could have ended up with? All the new streams passing by, thinking they are investing in good coin and thus they could just make loads of profits.! So its the FUD my mate which is hampering the market.

There are many reason behind that, buy for me. It is because the price of Bitcoin is dropping and also because there are many fake news or FUD spreading just to make the price of every coin drop. It is so normal, also because of the price correction because the very long bull run rally last year on ethereum.

This market is easily controlled by a person or groups which has abundant amount of money, there will be no protection at all to the crypto holders as it is purely market to control. Now Bitcoin and Etherium is in downtrend, it seems most probably from the rising price of last December was pumped by big worldclass group or persons since they know how easy to control the market by their capital until certain value. Now the price is downtrend most probably to reach certain value, the victims are holders who had been panic. They sold their crypto for loss to be bought by the big worldclass people or group at certain low value. What we can do just hold tightly now and follow the flow price later as I fully believe the price will reverse as the certain buyers want to make big profit.

The whole market was overpriced(easy to say now but that's the reality, it increased too fast) a lot of ICOs dumped their ETH and there was not enough demand, all the people bough tokens for it.

It's because of all the currencies are going down and most importantly bitcoin. Bitcoin has the most market dominance so if it goes down most of the cryptocurrency goes down with that and at this time Ethereum is doing the same.

The whole marketcap down dy by day because we have seen the market going too high last year and now is time to make some correction and consolidation. Its a normal move for the market especially crypto market which very vollatile. Crypto market movement is 10% per day and in crash day its possible to down or up 30%. High gain = high risk

Some people believe and think whale are manipulating the market by selling lots of their coin to drive than the price so they can buy low. Mining Asic is another factor that might ve driving down the price. A lot of this mining gear are been produce and miners are dumping

Yes, I agree. Because bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency as many claim it, so when it is down the normal market reaction is down also. Bitcoin commands the cryptocurrency world. I do not know when other altcoin next to bitcoin will take over the throne to the leading bitcoin. But as of now, when the market is down it is because of bitcoin.

I don't think that is only FUD that is affecting the value of ethereum but there are factors like government regulatory policy on bitcoin and crypto currency, decline in the value of bitcoin has a major influence on ethereum among others.

It is because of fud many countries have started to ban ico or either have set really tough regulations against ico so because of this all of ico which raised funds are withdrawing it and because of fud investors are also driving away from ethereum which is causing the price to collapse

I think that after the huge pump in price that etehreum had over the past months was due to the popularity of etehreum based ICOs which have been storming the cryptocurrency market and dominated it for weeks, and since recently Facebook and google have banned all the cryptocurrency related ads including ICO advertisements, the ethereum has sufferd from that hit and that what caused the price to go down, but i am pretty sure that soon enough and as the whole market goes up the ethereum will go up with it.

I was so lucky to have exited and sold all my Ethereum as all-time-high but then re-invested with it went into crisis. There are a lot of causes like governments crackdown on ICO and the crypto sphere. But lets say that they can't stop it and lately we have surges but I'm not sure if this is the start of a bull run though.
