Title: Simple Tips Keeping Your Bitcoin from Hackers.
Post by: Sekyut on May 15, 2018, 02:29:38 PM
- We must have our own way to keep our Bitcoin safe. The account we use must have a unique password, and not easily guessed.

- Do not equate account passwords associated with Bitcoin with other accounts such as social media, because it is vulnerable to hack, let alone the followers of its social media a lot.

- Use two-factor or 2FD authentication. Additional security layers are easy to apply. Quite a few apps like Google Authenticator as a 2FD installation provider. In essence, it works as a second security layer after the password. When you've entered a keyword into your account, the system will request a two-factor authentication code. The six-digit code does not need to be memorized because it changes every 30 seconds.

- And one more, do not trust everyone. Suppose we provide information about our Bitcoin account to our Mother, it is not impossible that our mother could just tell it to someone else. With the spread of such information will increase the potential for breaking.

Uhm, those tips are clearly meant for people who are storing their coins on online wallets, since you're mentioning 2FA.
I would advise against giving away control of your Bitcoins to any company. It's always better to have your own secure wallet, one that gives you control over your private keys.

Two-factor Authentication isn't a perfect solution, it can also be broken in certain instances.

Use a password manager like KeePass2[1]. That way, you'd only need to remember one long password(master password), then you're other passwords would be as long as it can for maximum security(at least 40 characters). Just make sure your master password is secure as well.

OP probably had web wallets in mind when wrote this but 2FA is not necessarily pointing to web wallets only. you can have a cold storage with 2FA too.
for example using Electrum you can create a 2 of 3 multi signature wallet with TrustedCoin service which is your 2FA. this would be a desktop wallet which uses this option. it can also be used offline, although offline may be a bit weird setup!

I also actually only recommend using Google Authenticator, because I think the level of google security is very high and has been trusted. And the most important thing is we have to stay alert all the time because the risk always try some way to attack you.

The bitcoin wallet client is the most effective way to ensure the security of bitcoin, because only you have the secret keys. Don't put your eggs in one basket, for example, put a small amount of money on a computer, server or smartphone for daily expenses, and then save the remaining bitcoins with the "cold storage". Both methods have strong passwords. Multiple signatures are another way to enhance security.

If you are storing bitcoin in your computer for sure you need to have protected computer and have an updated computer and anti-virus but as well you need to have a password on your wallet to make sure that no one will be able to access it or to make transfers but mostly for me I just used the two-factor or the authentication which is pretty good and it really gives a security in your account. You should not tell anyone that you have a bitcoin or that where your bitcoin is stored, for me I never tell anyone except my family but they don't know how it works and where do I store it to make a privacy with my coins.

Your tips are very useful but I think only strong password or 2FA can't make secure enough for an account! SMS verification could be great with a strong password and 2FA verification. Though online wallet is not totally safe, they can scam anytime or your bitcoin can be compromised that's why everyone suggests The hardware wallet. Hardware wallet is The best option to secure a bitcoin wallet.

Also use Bakcup Wallet Aes Json which is encryption codes consisting of iterations, versions and payload and is used to improve the security of your password. It is very important to ensure that your personal passwords are confidential and secure. And also Backup Recovery Phrase that uses a question that consists of 12 answers, and the answer that you do not need to make, because it is provided automatically you just download it and save it on your computer.

There are lot of things to remember to get rid of hackers and stay away from them. Make sure that you're the only one who knows your account or share it to the trusted person closed to you. Other thing is that don't just log in your account to unknown site wherein hackers are everywhere. Always remember your password and make no one knows it other than you.

Hacking is forbidden in the world it is known as crime but some group of people do this and to keep safe your account this policy is great but in bitcoin hacking is very tough but though it’s a online process so it can be so we should safe from those hacker and make our account safe so we shouldn’t give password which we regularly used in social apps or any password which is related with birthday, mobile number etc but if we aware of this it can be safe from them.

We should keep our bitcoin account safe. Try not to compare account passwords related with Bitcoin with different records, for example, web-based social networking, on the grounds that it is helpless against hack, not to mention the supporters of its online networking a lot. We must have our own particular manner to protect our Bitcoin. The record we utilize must have an interesting watchword, and not effortlessly guessed. Use two-factor or 2FD validation. Extra security layers are anything but difficult to apply.

Well the risk is always there. I agree that you should use the passwords that have no connection to your social media passwords, that you should use 2FA verification, strong passwords, hard wallets etc. but the most important thing is to have your money equally distributed to more than one account! I can't stress that enough. I mean what are the odds for hackers to get all of your accounts? Think about it.

Usually the wallet security system is almost un hackable specially the private keys unless you unknowingly gave them access too which is a common type of mistake by new to cryptocurrency world and internet basic security such as bookmarking your wallet website and trading platforms to prevent phising sites from fooling you.

Avoid downloading softwares from suspicious website and as much as possible find a provider whom you can trust, I suggest you download the legit and paid ones to prevent your devices from being infected by malwares.

If you are keeping on online wallets then you are adding security to your account and balance there. But the ideal to make things simpler is you have to keep your private keys for desktop, mobile, web and hardware wallet. Web wallets are different from online wallets.
Just expose those keys on the web, create a back up, write on a piece of paper and lastly if you can't buy hardware wallet, create paper bitcoin wallet.

To keep your coins on the exchanges is rather dangerous. If you choose that as a mean of storage, pay attention to such things: two-factor authentication, users' reviews and how long the service runs.
Concerning other things.
The money is recommended to be cashed or replaced to cold storage by experts.
Your password should contain a complex of digits and letters. It's advisable to fill all 16 cells. And don't forget coping it to different devices in case you forgot it.

Here are some ways:

1. Be careful from phising sites, always check the url before encoding some important details on your wallet.
2. Insert a 2 Factor Authentication.
3. Find a wallet that doesn't hold your private key, only yourself should hold those keys.

Do not download software that you are not sure is safe with;
Use the official ENS instead of all the addresses that you can not verify.

It is important to select an exchange that is not only flexible and easy to use but also reputable and secure. You should try to follow the news. If industry leaders disengage from a project it should be a worrying signal. Repeated technical problems and strange policies are additional points of concern. Bitcoin withdrawal difficulties will always be a red flag also.

You need to create backups and keep in a secure place, a backup of your cryptocurrency wallet may save you from hardware failures and a lot of human slipups. It will also let you restore your wallet in case your PC or telephone gets stolen.

I appreciate your effort in making sure people's bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not stolen because it is becoming rampant nowadays. As we read on, I hope we will have people who will share other techniques we can use to keep our wallets safe from hackers.
Now there are many applications that support you in securing your wallet, such as the metamask application, which is an ethereum blockchain application, and we can transfer and receive ETH on it without having to. Login by key private or Json on the main page. This reduces the number of hackers who break into our wallet

Beware of phishing websites. I believe that its the number 1 reason why there are a lot of hacked bitcoin accounts or wallets. Simple steps like checking the URL will really help from hackers. I will also recommend that you should only open your btc wallet on your computer or your device. Make sure that you are using a secured network when browsing the internet, avoid using public wifi since you are making your devices vulnerable and exposed to hackers.

Myetherewallet (MEW) only supports ethereum and ERC20 tokens so we can't store bitcoin into it.So you need to be clear with it before suggesting to anyone.

Buy an hardware wallet this is the simple tip you can do to store all your bitcoin safely.

On the off chance that you are putting away bitcoin in your PC for beyond any doubt you need ensured PC and have a refreshed PC and against infection however also you need a secret word on your wallet to ensure that nobody will have the capacity to get to it or to make exchanges yet for the most part for me I simply utilized the two-factor or the verification which is truly great and it truly gives a security in your record. You ought not tell anybody that you have a bitcoin or that where your bitcoin is put away, for me I never tell anybody aside from my family yet they don't know how it functions and where do I store it to make a security with my coins.

With the spread of such information will increase the potential for breaking.

i think 2fa is the most effective way to protect your account, but it is on the exchange wallet.
2fa protection will prevent hacker to withdraw the coins in your account, making it safe for you.

I just want to review a tip. Web exchanges and wallets all claim they treat security very seriously and implement all necessary protection technologies to prevent breaches and unauthorized transactions. Please do not trust these words. Such companies are not banks; they often do not have the same level of security. And even banks get robbed often.

The most important to all is to secure a bitcoin wallet, whether it is a physical hardware device or an online one. Keep your private key safe, and never keep your bitcoin stored on a crypto exchange. When you purchase your tokens from an exchange, it might be tempting to leave them there just for convenience.

One great way to protect cryptocurrency against hackers is to put the cryptocurrency on cold storage and lock it up at a bank safety/deposit box or another secure location. This takes it off of exchanges and out of the cloud, so it can't be hacked online.

If you aren't actively trading cryptocurrency, experts recommend taking it off of the exchanges.

In this digital world, mobile phones, hard drives, laptop’s, wallets are convenient repositories but nowadays this isn’t sufficient. It’s of vital importance
to secure your crypto wallet hard for keeping your assets safe.

Here are some of the best tips to keep your crypto assets safe and secure.

1. Securing a Wallet is similar to securing your personal data on the computer. You have to be aware of links, advertisement, any type of attachment
etc. which appears when a browser is being suffered.

2. Always create backups of your cryptocurrency wallets. So, that it will let you restore your wallet if in case your laptop or cell phone gets stolen.

3. Opening an account to buy cryptocurrency? Set up a unique E-mail id that you’re going to use for that account and never share that id with anyone.

4. Encrypt your whole device in which you are going to use cryptocurrency wallet. Make sure you have the best anti-virus installed on your device and
keep it up to date including anti-malware and anti-ransomware.

I bet your mother would not even rememeber your password even you told her to and with so many accounts that you have in exchanges and wallets, you'll keep checking your notes to know which one is the appropriate one.

I think to keep our bitcoin wallet not easily hacked by others by storing private keys in a safe place, besides we also can not use private keys on any site, and I hope that we use authentication to make it more difficult to hack.

Hacking isnt possible on the blockchain.

I would simply suggest using a hardware wallet. A brand new, not a used one.

A trezor or a ledger is the safest way to keep your cryptocurrencies.

Right, the most important to manage your investment portfolio is a wallet security.
for 2fa, i think it is only work in exchange wallet, if you use your own wallet, you must keep your key and passwords safe.
backup your passwords and keys in several places. Never input them in a new website or email, otherwise your wallet will be exposed.

Bitcoin safety is obviously the most important thing that has to be kept in mind. After all we cannot just let our hard earned bucks into the hands of hackers. Usage of some trusted e-wallets is highly recommended and we have a lot of such reliable wallets available for storing the digital currency that are easy to use and provide high standards of safety. For me, Coinbase is the best place. Well there are others as well, like My celium Wallet, Exodus. That is upto you to choose the best considering your safety needs. And as far as private keys are concerned, they are confidential information. These must not be shared with anyone unless you trust someone with your life!! Because there is always a probability of such confidential information leaked if it is known to many a people.

This is a really bad situation for all of us. But we have a solution for that issue. We know hardware wallets. We can protect our Bitcoin. Ethereum an all crypto coins through this hardware wallets. personally, I bought a Ledger wallet in last week. Now My all coins in my leger wallet, I think this is the most secure way to protect our all coins from hackers.

I have always believed that whatever you do online is always accessible to someone with or without your permission so I am not a great fan of holding my funds on any device which is connected to the internet most of the time in a day. Thus, I use the paper wallet as my primary cold storage device (along with maintaining multiple backup copies in various geographical locations), I also use Trezor for storing my regular funds. I never keep more than 5% of my overall funds on any website.

First off I wouldn't give my private key to anyone, not even my wife. There is no point, you are only opening yourself up to more avenues of attack. Instead make a video put it in your will or somewhere safe, that way people can access your crypto and you need not worry. As for trusting our mothers, again same thing there simply is no point. Make a video and keep the information there, what mom (besides the ones that are active in crypto) needs to know you do it? None.

To avoid hackers is not simple, but there are way to do it. First, you should make sure that you are enrolling only in global and leading Bitcoin companies, and learn how to identify possible Bitcoin fraud. And make sure your email is save. How to secure your email; 1. Use unique and powerful passwords; 2. Check your login activity; 3. Review and delete your email auto-forwarders; 4. Review Linked Accounts; and 5. Set up two-factor authentication.

You always must use a few steps to save your wallet from hackers. As for me I use only one computer and I fell write my password on a sheet of paper and put it in the case.

Preferably you should have your own wallet secure, you can also have cold storage with 2FA.

Just another tips from me :

always verify the SSL of website you visit if you want to moving your balance. 2fa authentication is only available when you work in the exchange wallet.
and if you want to be very safe, use your main wallet on the pc (client wallet) to store almost all of your coin, and use web wallet for your secondary wallet and dont store too much coin there.

Always very careful when you are using your seed or private key. If you can, try not to use it.
Using 2fd authentication is good too, but if you are using the web wallet, you won't be able to use it, only in exchange.
and always have the backup of your wallet because many peoples lost their bitcoin wallet, makes the circulation of bitcoin lower.

I will share tips on how to secure our bitcoin purses from hackers. First, we have to keep our bitcoin wallet password safely and nobody else knows about it. Secondly, we must activate the security features in our wallet , such as activating the 2FA feature and ensuring the email address is not automatically forwarded to someone else's email. Third, we always close our bitcoin wallet access correctly and make sure it can not open automatically with the same device. Typically, the computer device will automatically store a password so we have to remove this feature. Then, we have to change our bitcoin wallet password periodically.

We don't need to save our Bitcoin password in our phone or computer that are connected to the internet. We should write a piece of paper or creat a flash drive to save our password and we should keep it in a safe place and no one knows about the information of that documents. That is the simple tips to keep our  bitcoin password from hackers.

The use of dual or 2FD authentication is a very effective way, in recent years a lot of hackers began to focus on the field of encryption, many people's purses were stolen, in the future this situation should be more, to maintain their own safety habits are the most important.

I believe these are very helpful tips especially for people who are storing their coins on online wallets. The 2 factor authentication is very essential and exchanges like COSS would even deactivate your accounts if you fail to activate the 2fa.However, it would be great to think of a secure offline wallet which gives you maximum control over your private keys.

Most important thing to use a  reputed exchange which is serious with security. There are some parameters to judge that :

1) Look that the exchange that you are using has some bounty program for finding bugs. The program should be old and should be paying decent money for finding bugs. This will ensure that users do not get targeted because of lack of security on exchange.

2) Give very much importance to the team behind the exchange.

That's the best pick to be on the safer side. These days you could see lots of bitcoin wallet service providers around, and here while creating an account you need to be careful. Some goes away packing away all the holdings in no time. Go with trusted wallet service and enable each and every security services provided to stay away from hackers.

There is nothing you can do to prevent that, make sure you never expose your private key while opening the wallet and the best case scenario is to use hardware wallet to store your coins and you can connect it to MEW, if the hackers somehow takes control of the domain then you cannot do anything.
When it comes to bitcoin the best case is to store you coins in an offline wallet and never store your coins in exchanges or web wallets as you never know how secure they are.

On the off chance that you are putting away bitcoin in your PC for beyond any doubt you need ensured PC and have a refreshed PC and hostile to infection however too you need a secret word on your wallet to ensure that nobody will have the capacity to get to it or to make exchanges yet generally for me I simply utilized the two-factor or the validation which is quite great and it truly gives a security in your record. You ought not tell anybody that you have a bitcoin or that where your bitcoin is put away, for me I never tell anybody aside from my family however they don't know how it functions and where do I store it to make a protection with my coins.

It seems like a fundamental mis-judgement in security, if you use some type of password to begin with?
a password to an exchange? a password to an encrypted file?

I have written a more thorough guide here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3576100), while it covers mostly Ethereum wallets, the general idea applies to any crypto!

Dont share some information of yours to anyone. Dont trust anyone. You need to use a unique and long password to make sure that your account is secured.

I think that you do not need to give some third-party companies at the disposal of your wallet. It is better to always have your purse, and dispose of it as you like. And two-factor authentication and a unique password is not always the best way to save your assets.

as with anything valuable, hackers, thieves, and scammers will all be after your bitcoins, so securing your bitcoins is necessary.
I recommend using Bitcoin wallets that were built with security in mind:

Ledger Nano S – Ledger is a Bitcoin security company that offers a wide range of secure Bitcoin storage devices. I currently see the Ledger Nano S as Ledger’s most secure wallet.
TREZOR – TREZOR is a hardware wallet that was built to secure bitcoins. It generates your Bitcoin private keys offline
Bitcoins should only be kept in wallets that you control.
Because Bitcoin is on the internet, they are even easier to steal and much harder to return and trace. Bitcoin itself is secure, but bitcoins are only as secure as the wallet storing them.

At this time you must use a password that has no connection with your social media password. You also have to use 2FA verification, or a strong password with a hard wallet and others. So that your money is distributed evenly to more than one account. I don't emphasize that. 8)

Yes it can be used. I recommend you to not to use mobile number otp as 2fa (since there has been cases when sim cards got compromised and then email then accounts related to email) rather use Google authenticator or hardware 2fa and keep backup of 'secret key' and 'backup-codes' to secure location.

This is a nice information and this may help us to get rid of hackers. Its nice to use hardware wallets to make sure that is more secured. There were so many hackers surrounding us thats why we need to be aware of everything.

To keep it safe and secured always, you should not open your password to anyone even to your closest friend. Do not save pinkeys anywhere specially on your email accounts and messengers because they are hackable. Use etherscan.io in inquiring wallet balance to avoid using the pinkeys.

I do not understand people who tell passwords or any details of personal information to someone else. Even if it’s family or friends, I don’t think they should know that. Passwords and private keys should be stored only at your place and in a safe place.

No, it is easy to safe our bitcoin, as long as you can keep in your wallet without any chance to use for buying, selling, or making a transaction then you don't have to worry. The codes will make our account more secure, so they don't have a chance to hack our wallet, but this is not a 100% guarantee. Besides that, you need to keep your private keys in a safe place and only you that will know that places.

That's also important for the private account to prevent hack but usually the expertise of hacker is not to memorized the private key whether a  simply and hard private key I think  they will specialized to explore their talent to do something bad to the purpose of  their expertise searching for the entire system creating a devise to capture of our private property they don't care the feelings of other people who the victims of their self interest. You now have to care a lot of your own coin and do not trust anyone but yourself now that you're kind of a bank of yourself. First privacy - never tell anyone where you hold the private key unless it's a wife or a really trusted person who can handle your affairs. You have to be anonymous online and do not store on the cloud either any of your account or passphrase or some seeds - I think you got the point. If you're looking for a Tor-based crypto I'd suggest Privcy for all the stuff mentioned.

Don't you think that it's more vulnerable? What if your phone got stolen and saw that you're into cryptos and so he is? It will be a game over.

Keep your computer antivirus update.

Yeah especially when your private keys are on your computer and you don't have any back up. That happened to my friend and unfortunately his entire investment was gone instantly.

I think the safest is having a hardware wallet, it quite pricey but you're assured that it won't compromise easily.

Though 2FA is a very good security on all crypto wallets. But I must say that even that 2FA can still be hacked by some internet goons in this world and make all wallets vulnerable to serious and hazardous attacks from them. I think the best way to stole our coins is the HARD WALLET

I consider storing your passwords in the safe place, but the passwords should be really good so they can't be hacked, also clean PC is good thing to own.

The two factor authentication is the most critical in securing your bitcoin from hackers, and it can be great if it linked to our android/iphone.
Because it's hard for these hackers to hack the wallet.

All that you disclose is indeed very appropriate, and the most important thing is that no one ever knows the password of the bitcoin wallet we have, because that is the most important part that we must protect properly.

I definitely make use of 2AF in all my EXCHANGERS where I trade and also it's not safe to leav3 huge amount of BTC in a particular wallet is good you split it out and don't save you private keys on cloud or let's say save it in your phone without a backup offline backup.

I would advise encrypting your private wallet seeds. I personally use a 24 word meunomic phrase. Your odds of someone guessing your seed is like 1 in quintillion chance. Your odds double with a 24 word seed. Practicly unhackable.

The best way to keep safe is ti play safe in crypto. Do not save wallet login details in emails because they are susceptible to attacks due to the frequent  forms filled with our emails in crypto. Never follow unknown links sent to email addresses because these links may lead to phisphing sites.

The best way to keep your bitcoin is keeping it away from exchange. Storing bitcoins at wallet is good than staying it at exchange. You can store at soft wallet, electrum and mycellium. But be sure that you are faraway from phishing sites because this is the primary reason why we are being hacked.

Very useful pieces of advice. I would suggest using a hard wallet to secure yourself from hackers. A long and complicated password will also be helpful in keeping your crypto money safe. It is a good habit to change your passwords from time to time too.

I think that to store all of the bitcoin assets that you have, you have to be able to save them seriously and don't consider them to be trivial, because the security of the wallet that you have is very important, and make sure you provide very high security for all cryptocurrency wallets that you have, from authentic security and others such as code configuration via email and devices that are connected to you directly.

Both exchange and wallet is risky, but it will be harder if we only store our coins in wallet and not use exchange, especially for traders who need to trade their coins, they will need to send coins to wallet every they want to trade it.

Well, I prefer with this one, 2FD is an additional layer of security for wallet ID which aims to ensure that we are the only people who can access the account, even though there are others who know our password. During this time after I used the 2FD application I wasn't worried about the wallet that we had.

Best way to keep your bitcoin out of hackers is to follow the right and accepted methods and majority of people who lost there bitcoins and investments have failed to do that most of the time and hackers always take advantages from those opportunities so below are some of the points that I have come across to secure bitcoin wallet from hackers,

1. It is always better If you can use a hardware wallet because unlike online wallets hackers can never hack into offline wallets and this method is much secure if you are a long term investor or you hodl token in long term

2. Always create a backup of your wallet because will help full to recover information in any case you do a mistake or an failure of your computer

3. Secure the wallet by using a strong password and encrypting it and that will be really help to protect the wallet

4. If you have an online wallet please use a two factor authentication and it will definitely ad an extra layer of security to your wallet

5. Always keep your private keys in a safer manner and never use your email accounts or other online data stores to back up your private keys in any case

Above are the once that I have come across so far and there must be more and a bitcoin holder should always stay alert with new information to secure there tokens because no one can find our bitcoins when something happens unlike in the real world when we lost fiat money so better to protect in the first place than loosing

Without a doubt if we are using an online wallet 2FA gives an extra layer of security and I haven't see anywhere that it can be break easily by hackers which is the reason most crypto exchanges provide us the same option an a significant method to follow

Though bitcoin promises to provide the safest transactions among all the crypto currencies or even among all the investment as its transactions does not involve any third party seizure so the transaction between two is confidential and no third person has the right to see the transaction between two and then secondly it’s transaction provides user anonymity so it is the safest among all but still hackers are very smart so for keeping your bitcoins safe, never share your keys and passwords to anyone.

Hackers are always looking for loopholes to steal bitcoin in someone else's wallet. So protection must be from ourselves. This method might protect your account from hacker attacks:
1. Use the Password generator
2. Enable authentication Two factors
3. Secure your login ID

All the tips in this topic are great and very informative, should be compulsory for new crypto users to read and apply it. I would add one more tip:

Don't use closed source wallets, and especially never store large amounts of money in closed source wallets

This is not that much of a problem for people who only use bitcoin, because bitcoin has been around long enough so that most of the popular and established wallets like Armory, Electrum etc. are fully open source. But if you're like me and also use other coins and tokens, there's not that many options. The popular multiwallets are all closed source. There is never full source code for the current version on github, if you check it it's just pieces of code, or maybe code for some old release. I personally don't trust wallets like that, because I can never have 100% confidence in what happens to my private keys, where are they send, who can see them and so on. I currently use HODLER wallet because it was the only multiwallet I could find that you can go to github and compile the application from the source code by yourself.

To protect your coin from hacks, first of all, we should not give any information to anyone about our account. Because all the accounts have been hacked till date. The reason for most of them being hacked was to make the information public about their account. So you will not give such information to anyone.

The best way for me to keep yourself from being hacked is by making yourself not a target. Many hackers try to hack your account by your very own personl information. Use only your social media to promote bitcoin but never link it to your account wallets or even the emails you use. There are other things to add in the list but the main gist of it is be knowledgeable and cautious to every move you make.

Trust no one but yourself, keep security as of topmost priority. Keep your wallet secured and store it in safe place. Use strong random password that is hard to be recognized by someone and that only you know about it. A backup of your wallet can also protect you against computer failures and many human mistakes.

In addition to the aforementioned precautions, I still add or remove some figures in my wallet address and these numbers/figures are removed from the beginning, center and the end of the wallet address. Only me know the numbers/figures I removed or added and from where I remove it from. Even if you see my wallet address it is completely useless with the mutilation.

The only safest way to store bitcoins is hardware wallet, if you are planning to store bitcoins for a longer period of time then choose hardware wallets and don't store bitcoins on exchange sites because usually, hackers steal from exchange sites or from the data that is available online. Other bitcoin wallets like Coinbase etc. are also secure but don't take the risk and buy hardware wallet to store your coins.

Based on my own experience, you should be careful when choosing friends too and who will you trust because this thing really happened in my so-called "circle of friends" when one of these so-called friends stole tokens from the other in his Ethereum wallet and why did that happen? because he shared his private key with the one who he trusts and all in a sudden all of his hodlings are gone and we detected through transactions that one of our so-called friends stole it.The lesson is never ever to trust your private key even in your best friend because money can make people do evil things that they might regret.

the triggering part is password haha, it's too long so i take lots of time to remembering it just in case T_T

Use a password manager like KeePass2[1]. That way, you'd only need to remember one long password(master password), then you're other passwords would be as long as it can for maximum security(at least 40 characters). Just make sure your master password is secure as well.

in my opinion Don't match the account password for buying and selling Bitcoin or bank accounts with other accounts such as social media, because it is prone to hacking, especially those with many followers. Then, also use two-factor authentication or 2FD, the additional security layer is easy to apply. There are quite a number of applications such as Google Authenticator as the installation provider of 2FD on our platform.

For me i protect my bitcoin by SMS phone verification when i want to access to my bitcoin account from another computer
i don't think it is completely safe. Hacker still can hack your account in this way.

With the spread of such information will increase the potential for breaking.
your tips are quite clear and detail for us to learn and protect ourselves. Thank you so much.

All of us are prone to hackers. To prevent to be hacked we must aware in the things they might do to hack our personal account. All of the stated above was correct. We need to have a back up to our password and do not tell to everybody how much you have on your wallet because it can be a cause to stole all of your coins, do not trust somebody to your wallet account. Its just a piece of advice that can be used to keep your wallet safe.

I think all you need to do is to have a strong password not just unique but hard to discover. You should also be aware with the sites that you signed because some them are phishing. Hoping that the moderator and creator of many apps and sites they should also trace all the accounts so that they can filter who is hacker and not.

There's really no 100% hack proof or steal proof system in place when it comes to virtual world or even in the real one. You can only go so far with multiple system to attain the highest security possible. Proper risk management is also we need to minimize the losses in security system.

The simple measures we need to take to be able to protect the number of bitcoins we hold. And I think it is very important that you do not save your passwords in the web browser because it is easy to be stolen by hackers. This is not a measure but an advice because I see many people still make this mistake.

the triggering part is password haha, it's too long so i take lots of time to remembering it just in case T_T
If you are having problems remembering your passwords there are many applications that you can use that can create passwords for you and that can store them in your computer, this way you can generate unique and almost impossible passwords to crack with just a few clicks, you will need to dedicate some time to store and to create new passwords but once everything is set up it is very easy to log in your wallets and exchange accounts knowing that they are now very safe.

And if you also add  two factor authentication then you are going to be as safe as you can be and you can forget about losing your coins to most hackers since they do not have the skills to overcome a well structured defense against them.

Good advice, but I would add-don't store your Bitcoin etc on exchanges or wallets on your PC, Tablet etc, use strong passwords-not the same one you use for email, social media etc and lastly use a hard wallet such as Trezor etc. I assume your anti virus and anti malware are up to date and your os is fully patched.

All we know that hacker is all around of us so we need to be secure. I think there are some tips to make your bitcoin secure and prevent from hackers. The best thing to avoid is to give your personal private keys and password of your account or your wallet. And if possible do not talk to others even in your close friends about the amount of bitcoin and it's equevalent value when you talk xash because in that time that they know there is possibility that they have a motive to hack your account if there is an opportunity. Make your every transactions private for your own safety.

may not store important data on a computer, save all our important data on disks, do not access addresses that are unsafe and potentially crime, always monitor or examine our important data. the security of our money in bitcoin is guaranteed safe, only the entrance through the password key, then the confidentiality of passwords is the only thing we have to save separately from our computers.

I believe it is the same way like how we prevent other people knowing our social media account password. It works the same way however for this, we might eventually lose a lot of money if we are not extra careful with our wallet. I totally agree with your statements about trust no one. This is also one of the ways to keep your Bitcoin safe. No matter how close you are with them, do not let share your password spread to your cousin or friends because we might not know what will happen. Anything can happen when it comes to wealth and when they are facing difficulties.

Thank you for this nice thread, i definitely agree with you pal. The simpliest and basic securing of our account is not to make our password so easily be determined, or we shouldn't go to any suspiscious sites or called phising sites to login our account, it may be steal and hacked.

The most effective way to protect your wallet from hacker is by secure it with 2FA i guess.
But this is if only you have an exchange wallet because usually they provide the 2FA security to enhance your security wallet.
If you don't have any exchange wallet, you can use desktop wallet on your pc and backup it seed and password somewhere safe.

The use of google Authenticator is a good idea of ensuring you are secured. The only disadvantage is when your unlocked device falls into wrong hands. Someone who knows what google Authenticator is used for and have little insights into Bitcoin May see your account name in the Authenticator. For this and other reasons, I have decided to keep my bitcoin on a hardware wallet and it has proven to be worth.

If we share the private key it's called suicide, because that private key is very important for the security of our wallet. So we must be more careful in storing our wallet's private key.

Ofcourse, private keys are your access to your wallet. If someone has it he can steal your coins and transfer to different wallets he has access to. Always be careful if you login and avoid any risk as much as possible. All the tips in this topic are great and very informative, should be compulsory for new crypto users to read and apply it. I would add one more tip:

Don't use closed source wallets, and especially never store large amounts of money in closed source wallets
I really agree on this. Users should have the control of their private key. There is no need for third trusted party like exchanges. This is why users shouLD be discourage to store big amount of money on their exchanges account because they don't have the full control of their own funds. After trading, one must transfer the funds on an open source wallet which gives security and transparency like what I also use called Hodler wallet.

I believe that everyone have their own security options and continuously you search for new options for your coins. I have my own ways to keep safe my coins and wallets. First of all i am keeping my coins in several places; in my bitcoin hardware wallet, in exchanges, and in my betting accounts. I believe the safest way use the hardware wallet but if you haven't got one the best way to keep your coins using some good exchanges. Because in exchanges you have google autenticator options with sms message and with email passwords at the same time. So choose one good exchange and make that triple security.

Hardware wallets are by far the safest way to store your coins and while I think the price of one of those wallets is fair most people in the forum cannot really afford one so they need to deal with the problem of how to secure their coins when they cannot afford one of those wallets, and the best way to do that is to install your own wallet in your computer in an operating system that cannot be easily compromised.

keep the account as simple as the one who knows you and God are the main one and don't tell other people if you have a bitcoin, surely that person will know about bitcoin and take everything like breaking into a bank

Hey my suggestion is simply make an Electrum wallet, make sure you do not share your password, private key and seed with anyone, write it down somewhere for your rememberance. Also time to time clean your machines using anti virus tools, to make sure you do not have virus that can steal your coins. Lastly but the most important one, do not use your wallet to transact on a public wifi.

Great tips. I don't think anyone should even be posting about their crypto on social media because this sets yourself up to be a target. Social media is a very common tool for hackers to attempt to steal from you. It's better to stay humble anyways, the only time I see people posting about investments on social media it's to try and brag about a profit.

Agree with what you say. I also use 2FA for my bitcoin wallet.

Beside that, right now many ways hackers to steal our coin in our wallet, they sometimes sending a malware to steal our data. Never visit suspicious link and its much better if we using hardwallet
