I recently read through the comments made by Bill Gate on bitcoin and other related cryptocurrencies (https://www.google.com.gh/amp/s/www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/microsoft-founder-bill-gates-would-bet-against-bitcoin/). From the comments he made, it is obvious that, Bill Gate is against investing into cryptocurrency. Critically appraising and analyzing how helpful bitcoin and other cryptocurrency are and base on the comments Bill Gate made, I don't see the reason why he is against cryptocurrency. Probably he might be having his own reasons of which I am not aware of. Can someone help as to why Bill Gate spoke against bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies?

Most rich people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are against investing in bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general because of the huge risks due to heavy volatility. I'm very bullish on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but it's indeed a huge gamble. "Moon" and "lambo" gains aren't guaranteed. We're just pretty much speculating and hoping that it would indeed rise to very high prices.

Bill Gate may not understand the real block chaining technology. Their knowledge of bitcoin is only in some social media propaganda. It is understandable that people who have large fortune usually hate risk.

People like Gates also have so much skin in the game with Fiat that its a big leap for them to get on board with BTC.

Bill Gates said that is not without reason, there is a good reason too.

Most of the time, these people don't like bitcoin because it's unstable.
However, bitcoin and blockchain are inseparable, which is the most important point.

Because the guy already have money and doesn't need it much. Even if he thinks this whole scene will fly off in the future he goes to the safer route. Once you have big amount of money you would not care about a cahnce to get 10x on your money in the risky way, but you slowly lean towards safer methods which have proven to work over time and which will generate you money in the long run. In life money is not everything and since Bill is in that point in life where he has more than he can posibly spend why invest into bitcoin for money as he doesn't need it? I think that if we ever see mass adoption of crypto Bill will gladly use it but until then better not tuch this space.

Bill Gates as a HUGE technological innovator, that's a very ignorant thing to say though. He sure does well know every single technical advancement has it's own disadvantages and sort of "loopholes"(for a lack of a better word) that could be used in a negative manner (e.g. computer/www for stealing money, identities, etc).

Fearing is the mother of invention, this rule also shows that those who have a great fortune are afraid to take risk. This can also be a reason. Or other reasons such as instability, the risk of losing time, the possibility of getting less profit, or the fear of losing due to already possessing wealth.

He is not interested in bitcoin because according to him, it lacks actual value. Somehow, I understand him because it is mainly used as a speculative thing right now, and not as a currency.  Nevertheless, I think bill gates will soon get interested in it if btc becomes widely used to buy goods and services. Most rich individuals like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are against putting resources into bitcoin or cryptographic forms of money as a rule as a result of the immense dangers because of substantial instability. Its normal for people with the clout, wealth and resources of Bill Gates not to invest in what they cant control and any scheme for which the founders are anonymous. If I were Bill Gates I will probably say the same thing.

I'm confident before about Bill Gates as he stated that he was a bitcoin supporter but there's a sudden change.
I know on how Gates is knowledgeable with bitcoin but it can be an insider that he has some plans of making his own coin or he just want to pull the price lower. And when he's done, he'll start buying again and will just take back what he said.

It's totally irrelevant what Bill Gates or Warren Buffett talks about cryptocurrency, why anybody should be fascinated by their thoughts? They are just dinosaurs who stick to what they know and that is fiat, ultimate god who is irreplaceable with anything else.

It is really funny when Mr.Bill say that how crypto can have "horrible effect for users, one of which is losing his own life"., and that is come from man who is giving billions of $ for depopulation of the world not choosing methods how to achieve that. That's just his opinion. I think it is caused by the ban on ICO advertising in social networks. There are other equally important experts-billionaires, who just recommend investing in bitcoin.

He said that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are kind of a pure greater fool theory type of investment, base on my reading he have also a bitcoin but few years he sell it afterward, maybe bill gates hates long term holding but whatever it is was must respect his opinion about bitcoin,  because  he became a millionaire in different way.

I think his dislike crypto because he does't understand, why people does investment to something they can't touch, see and using in real life. Well, he also did not believe in the internet until it was too late for him and Microsoft...so lets take his opinion on these matters with a grain of salt. It could be that he just does not intuitively connect with technology that is of a decentralized nature.

Specifically, bitcoin: I think he sees it as many people do. The first success in the market but not likely to be the last, as an investor, one wants to invest in the lasting success not the first. I think because of his experience through each wave of technological evolution we have recently gone through, he does not believe that being first is a good thing in the long run.

We can’t tell what he thinks inside may be he wanted to invest in crypto currency by spreading fud and buy from bottom . Otherwise he could have aggrandising about this unregulated market . Bill Gates is against bitcoin because he think that bitcoin is a poor investment. He also think that investing in bitcoin is crazy, maybe he also don't want to risk his money on investing in bitcoin and he do not believe cause maybe he cannot see his future in investing annd waiting for a long period of time. I think that he is used to big and fast investment return, not in big investment and long return.

Bill Gate opposed or not opposed to me personally will not bring any change. Bill Gate's a rich man a person like them has no interest in the world of cryptocurrency at all in fact he will be closer to the FUD than the user crypto. So far, people who hate bitcoin mostly come from Non Users for example Bill Gate, not from users themselves.

The crime of using a technology does not mean that the technology becomes a bad thing. Because of that, Bill Gates's company is bad because criminals can use Windows to commit their crimes. Obviously, such an allegation is completely unreasonable.

Not because the tax system that the United States can fund the Syrian bombing, which has killed more than 10,000 people this year? From what I see Bill Gates cannot  accept the new world entering to digital currencies. Even if he is a powerful and rich person, he cant stop it. Invest in bitcoin is very risky. The fluctuations price also very high. We can't push people who don't want to invest in bitcoin, invest in bitcoin is not a must. Whale will makes bitcoin price rise but also makes the volatility even higher.

I watch some youtube videos that Bill Gates endorse bitcoin as a future payment currency but now he is against of bitcoin i think bill gates realize that bitcoin is super risky for now.

This man I think is against it publicly but investing in crypto privately. They will tell you not to do it because of security reasons but they will be the ones investing in it massively.

I have few theories why he and some other well known Bitcoin enthusiasts changed their minds all of a sudden. I am not posting them yet until I am above 50% sure.

Cnn and Cnet are websites sharing the most negative side of the bitcoin. Some may be true but I see most of the fake news also sharing these sites only. You may check the news which is dedicated for the crypto news. I see the merkle and coindesk sharing the best news from the crypto marketplace.
If any one see the bill gates first interview about the bitcoin. No one will never say that he is against bitcoin.

Yes, I have seen that before. As to why they changed their mood?

1. Maybe they see it as a perceived threat to their stocks investment. Those people pouring cash on their stocks might dump it in favour of crypto that's why they realised that it will have adverse effect on them.

2. They are late and might have been the boat specially last year when bitcoin grows astronomically.

3. Bill Gates might be creating his own crypto using the same technology behind bitcoin, Blockchain.

Well, most people who are against investing in bitcoin do not understand or have little or no knowledge about cryptocurrency or bitcoin to be specific. Change is also one thing most old folks have difficulty accepting if it doesn't look similar to what they are used to.

but you have look at the Charles Hayter statement as CEO of Cryptocompare, he says that bill gates tell the truth, crypto always gets access in the black market, but the bad trend will be overcome with crypto regulation in the digital business. Hayter also said that the dollar also has the same risk with the digital currency.

Volatility and decentralization is I think the main reason why bill gates and other people hesitant to accept bitcoin in their life. We know for the fact that price moves from nowhere as we observe it was due to supply and demand law but still can't pinpoint directly to this law because we don't speak any product here to hold and spent. The coin that we dump to the market are keeps by other by simply buying our dump coin.

You have to put your self in Bill's shoes emphatically, in order to understand the mindset of a man who already has all the money and resources in the world.

It's Bitcoin that he doesn't seem to be a fan of, or at least not anymore. There was a video circulating in which he was mildly praising Bitcoin for what it brought to the world, but somehow he changed his opinion.

Maybe that Warren Buffett has got to his mind, but it's quite interesting actually. What in the world could make him change his view on something so dramatically? It's not that you can bribe him, he'll just laugh his ass off.

The volatility of the bitcoin is probably the reason. Much like warred buffet, they are not willing to risk their money to something that is not stable yet. They are really careful where they put their money that's why they have so much now.

If I had to choose an advice from Bill gates and Warren Buffet, I will choose it from the former. Even if it is an investment advice, I will trust Bill Gates only as he has so much experience of the tech. He has spoken in favor of blockchain also which is a good. He is mainly concerned regarding the anonymous nature of bitcoins which is indeed a valid concern. A person like him will evaluate an investment from all angles like future legal problems.

I think it's mainly due to stability since in 2017 we saw such a huge gain in price of Bitcoins and due to which many people jumped on the bull trying to buy Bitcoins and suddenly it fell to 1/3 Rd of it's highest value and kept going down which caused many people to loose their money in Bitcoins and the over all stability was disrupted , since there are no regulations on bitcoins that means people can usually buy and sell in whatever way they want and sometimes it's self destructive, people when the price was falling encashed and it caused the price to fall down further therefore it caused a huge chaos in everyone's lives who had a lot invested in it , this is essentially something that is hard for people to face and even harder to accept therefore I think that's the reason why he choosed to say bad about bitcoins also it's a personal opinion not that we can really know the reason why he said that.

 He might have invested and no one will know since  Crypto currency is decentralized whereby we would not be able to trace if someone own the asset.

You should probably never take investment advice from anyone, you never know what their intentions are and it is impossible for you to be sure if they are being honest about the advice that they are giving you or if they have hidden intentions and they are trying to make you buy an asset because they're going to benefit out of it, you need to reach your own conclusions about the market and then act on those conclusions.
