I think this is the most sluggish period since I joined the crypto currency. what your opinion?
What caused it?

I agree with you the development of cryptocurrency in 2018 is very slow very different from the year 2017 where the development of cryptocurrency both in all fields very rapidly and significantly. whatever causes it to happen like this.

Perhaps in 2017, most people who are interested in new Internet technologies have already entered into crypto. Now the influx of new people has decreased. In addition, the market does not show growth for six months. Crypto needs a new hype :)

this is the period of post-resurrection crypto decline some time ago, but this can not serve as the benchmark for the slowest decline. some time ago market crypto corrected very low so do not worry the market will return to normal.

yes, yes, but you must not forget that december and january 2018 were extremely strong, everyone said in december 2018 will be the year for the cryptos, now it usually comes differently than expected, I think it will go a while sideways, I hope that we will not see an extreme drop anymore, otherwise many coins will disappear from the picture surface, nevertheless I think that it will take a while until crypto currencies properly implement

The crypto market has gone through worst in these 10 years. It has dumped to a level where everybody thought that the market is dead. So, this is not new and definitely not the worst. Bitcoin has been successfully maintaining its price above the lowest threshold for a long time now. It is hovering above $6800 for quite a time which means the market isn't dead but is deprived of new money. Volume is less which is stopping a trend reversal. But new money will definitely gonna enter the market in coming months.

I can agree to you - this is a difficult period but that does not diminish my interest in the crypto . And i will continue to participate in projects/ico's .
this is a year of patience.

i agree with you,, and this is the normal situations,
just take a look in few years behind, the price of crypto is down, in Q1 and 2 and the price start rising in Q3 and Q4
so, we don't have to worry about this situations, because history repeat itself  ;)

We didn't see a proper pump this year and market is continuously undergoing correction. This might seems like a weak period but I believe that market will overcome this soon and can go for a bullish ride.

I have seen the worst than this before market was looking very low from last couple of days and i was expecting something like this to happen but yeah 1000$ was not in my radar. Lets see if bitcoin can hold up to its support of 6600 and bounce back sharply.
There is not much in the market which is creating this dump i think its manupulation by whales to make the weak hands lose money and they can grab more cheap bitcoin.

In 2013 there was a big pump and dump of BTC. It took three years to retype the ATH. Of course, the situation here is different, but there is no guarantee that such a scenario will not happen again.
Oh, BTC today again approached the lower level of consolidation.

Yes this is the weak period for cryptocurrency. Because the price of bitcoin is decreasing day by day. Because if it increase for two days automatically it decreases next day. From year starting itself crypto market is not stable. It faces so many dumps only instead of pumps. All are expecting the price will increase by the end of this year. But no one predict the market price may be it happens or not. Lets wait and see the market growth with patience.

I will partially agree with you but still i see a bright future for cryptos, the slowness was just due to regulation fud, now that many big crypto projects are registering themselves all around the world and especially the SEC, we will soon see big volume coming back in the market.

Yes ,now is the most weak period of cryptocurrency because of the competition in the field of cryptocurrency. More coins are coming to the market each day and this has caused most coins to experience bearish trend.

THis market is crazy and complex. I think it is safest to just invest in a solid project like Elastos and continue your daily affairs. Most of these self-annointed OGs do not even know what they are doing. Like what happened recently, 40 bn wiped out in a day seriously?? that is manipulation!

Now is better than period when bitcoin is 6500, but i don't worry at all. After all bitcoin below 7000 is really good point to buy btc. Blockchain is a trend, many enterprises get interested in this technology. I think, we will have wave soon!

We are in a bear market again and almost all coins drops so hard today. There might be a price manipulation since January 2018 and this is why the market drops so hard. In this kind of market patience is very important, I hope that bitcoin will not go down deeper to $5k level again.

Yes possibly be this could be the most sluggish one and thanks to the uncertainty of some government against cryptomarket plus other issues such as manipulation on prices and hacking incidents, it seems that there should be a clear regulation and laws that must exist before this market becomes healthy again.

Have patience, just go with your own decision. The present time can be considered as a buy time, and some consider losing tends to sell. Similar pattern of growth took place previously, price went as low as $6500 and then started to recover and reached around $9700 and stabilized around the $7500 range. This time too similar thing can happen.

yes, we are waiting for the bull run buy everytime the market goes deeper  :-X, this year reminds me the 2014, during that year the market was very bearish and all the people tought that bitcoin was going to die in the future, unfortunately during that year i sold almost all of my cryptos and i went out from the crypto world, i will not make this error again, the keyword is patience

yes, I also feel that way, the development of cryptocurrency in this year is very slow and of course very different from the year 2017 yesterday. somehow the factors that cause cryptocurrency this year tend to be reluctant to raise prices again, but the current market situation does not make many people leave bitcoin but is widely used by investors to buy more to add to the investment assets it has.

Maybe this is the weakest for this year and this is a good chance to join and buy crypto as you can buy at cheaper price. It's a good opportunity for newcomers like me.

I think this is the best answer. To grow much bigger crypto needs mass adoption and only way to do that is if people start to use it in everyday life. As it is now most people don't use or even own any crypto currency.

So true mate this year has the slowest price growth of bitcoin compared to the year of 2017. It may grow a little but in the next few days it will drop again , this is the reason why I should not sell it because I believe that december and january are the best month that bitcoin will pump again.I always believe that Patience is the key to get big profit.

I agree. Seems like this is the period where all the hype and extreme enthusiasm has died down and now is the time for these developers to prove themselves. It is time to deliver on the promises and actually finish developing products that have real world use cases. If products are delivered, i'm quite confident we will be in for another round of hyping and the cycle will continue to go round and round.

Despite the big increase, however, beginning with the fall of the price really make many investors get screwed and eventually many of those who left or were forced to withstand a long period of time. up to now the only slight growth, but certainly hope a lot of people in the rest of this period there will be a large increase again to be able to recoup at the beginning of this year.

I agree with you that this is a weak period in crypto because of the slow movement of market price and the gradual fall but this period will pass very soon, but patience is the key at this period in time. I think one of the reasons for the fall in crypto is due to less volume of new investors as more people are cashing out due to fear.

I agree on your statement, 2018 is the weak year of cryptocurrency, prices are falling, almost all cryptocurrency., i started bitcoin when it was 100usd each, so i would say that it is still higher today, compared to the prices when i was started cryptocurrency. A lot of reasons maybe why this year is the weak year of cryptocurrency, maybe is the government regulations and hacking everywhere.

But i hope it will return back to its normal state, so that everybody would be happy.

Well, it is certainly a good idea, it may well realize and bring though little benefit, but still any action is now good and will benefit not only themselves but also other people in need.

The longer it holds over 6.5k the more confidence will grow in time.
Just imagine how you would view it yourself, a huge crash from near 20k to 6.5k would have you thinking it's all in big trouble, a year between 6.5k to 9k would have you thinking it's stable, the mindset will only improve the longer it holds stable.

It's still a great market for swing trading alts, still lots of money to be made you just have to adapt to the market, holding still works if you get a good price, just improve your means of determining the top in this market.

Though we still see the interest in crypto, there have been many bad news from "big people" . What I mean is that countries, together with huge services providers (Google, Facebook) are trying to regulate crypto market. That is why we see that the market in this situation

I do not think like you. The fall in the crypto rate is only temporary, and it is showing strong growth in the future as the exchange rate reaches the support of $ 6,000. I guess that by the end of the year, the BTC rate will reach $ 20,000. So you should have confidence in the cryptocurrencies market and be patient.

yes thats right.. this period is too slow. unlike last year if it drop bitcoin can recover immediately  but now it moving slowly and slowly. maybe because of the bad reputation of some coin affect the cryptocurrency world.

This is just a correction and a good time to buy and hold for a good bull run. Facebook and Google has no effect on this downfall as crypto will still survive even without them.

It is a weak period for sure but there have been many worse and even longer corrections in Bitcoin in the past. For example, Bitcoin was in a long correction during 2014 and most of 2015. Hope this year turns out like last year and we see a strong rise in second half.

the cause is because many countries that deny the existence of crypto a few months ago. but it doesn't matter for now because the pros and cons are common. so there are certainly also some are refused support. and now many countries thus showed their good attitude towards crypto. with it will certainly make crypto later will go up even higher.

Very weak, market capitalization is very small and the volume of trading is not shining. There are many reasons for this, and one of them will be singled out as the main one, there is only one way out, or wait and hope or sell, but come back later when the rapid growth begins.

Well if you are impatient then go and cut your loses and be back when fomo already happening, but if you are a long holders and a risky type of investors then you can go and hold your coins, the market will always be like this as history just repeating itself, you still have a lots of time to read and study how crypto really works and how the exchange will give you good edge to take this as an advantage for your investment.

I think this is the weak period price of cryptocurrency has been down for long now. Even this happened before also a weak period of time for crypto I am still having a positivity that it can recover. Well let see what will happen this coming months I think price will changed.

You seem to be confident that there is a buying time now but what makes you so sure? After all btc could drop to 5k and then you would lose 20% if you go in now.

The whole market is part of a bigger picture. Big games,big players. We are just going along for the ride here. The smart thing now would be to buy cheap coins/tokens that you believe will last long and wait for them to recover (We would recommend PoS coins,as we believe they are the future of cryptocurrencies,until an even better one comes out) and invest in them for the long term. It's painful and unnecessary to try to day trade in this market and you shouldn't waste your time and effort on it. Instead you should focus on long lasting projects.

I agree, my opinion is to wait, BTC'll go lower for sure, under 6000 $, waiting strategy is now the key.

There are so many things which are then affecting the overall crypto market in a bad way and that because of which, the market values of all the coins are going down instead of going up. Yes that's cryptocurrency, the price can change quickly and can also change slowly. We must be patient to face this if we do not want to make mistakes. Actually this is not the weakest period for cryptocurrency, because around a few years ago cryptocurrency was ever slower than this. It even happens for months and it's so boring. I do not know why cryptocurrency could be this way, either because of correction, or prohibition from government or on some social media about advertising cryptocurrency. Hopefully this will quickly end and the price back to normal.

I would have to say that it has been a rough stretch for crypto in general, but looking back over previous years it seems to always do this over the summer. I have a strong feeling that as fall approaches we will see the prices begin to rise again. Patience is key!

Yes I think this period is weak, but, during this consolidation stage, smart money are discreetly buying in and bagging lots of coins including BTC while everyone is selling. They aim for long term and I think they are willing to hold it as long as corporations start to adapt in crypto world. Triple bottom pattern is forming which is a bullish reversal signal. Let us wait soon and hope the Gox curse will soon be lifted.

2018 started weak and weakness continues on same tempo.
It will not go down from here for me but i think its not going higher levels from 8k for bitcoin too.
Its more likely a swing.

If we attain to just keep holding and make a good support then it wont fell anymore and chances to rise up is much possible but from what we are seeing right now, panic holders are dumping their coins because of this quick downfall, really affecting crypto value, we really can't stop this weak moment we need to be more patience and stop doing panic, hold and wait for the bounce back, much prefer to buy more while price still cheap.

I don't know when did you join the crypto, but this time is not bad for all traders. In my opinion, this period is good for the traders who want to make buying, but of course, a bad term for the coin holders. I hope the prices will be much more better in a near future.

Maybe it is because you haven't been around for a long time. Me myself is around for more than a year now and in this particular period of the year, I can see bullish run but that's because of Japan's official acceptance of Bitcoin. We haven't heard anything with that much impact lately so the market is dependent on "normal" circumstance. Yes we are sluggish now but you haven't seen much. I witnessed the panic selling due to Bitcoin's hardfork and the drastic crash of Bitcoin's price just couple of months ago. This bearish market is more of "laying low" at the moment.

I think the issue of trust is what is affecting cryptocurrencies now and something has to be done in other to put people faith back on cryptocurrencies.  Many icos projects has scamming a lot of people and this creates fears in the mind of investors that is now affecting cryptocurrencies market.  We should know that we need to build more confident on cryptocurrencies if price most go up.

It is obvious that the price is going lower now, but if the crypto traders can take the chance to make buying at low prices and don't panic sell, I think the market prices can reach better prices more sooner.

yes by looking at the data from several years ago we can know the price movement of each period, and with that data we can predict the possibility of increase in the same period.

My opinion is excellent, from the comrades who have already spoken. I think that the main reason of everything is -  too big influx of people, investments and the fact that the cryptocurrency has become too interesting for people who want easy money. If there were not a huge number of failures, fraudulent schemes, there would be no attempts to control it from the states side.

Obviously, it's a weak period if you compare it to 2017. At the end of the last year, very many people were claiming that 2018 will be the year of altcoins, and that the prices will continue to grow at the same rate. But the truth is that it's impossible to have the kind of growth like in 2017 forever, and this kind of period is normal after such a huge pump that we had in the previous year. This is all a cycle, and it will start to grow again eventually.

This correction is long in the tooth but it will end eventually. Bitcoin is getting near major support zone in low $6000s and is very oversold so we should see some bounce at least soon.

I think yes and would not disagree to this. The current time is a bad time for the technology and this bad time can come to an end only if some factors like demand for the crypto rise or the stability of the coins increases which attracts potential investors due to which the prices of the crypto rise. But we are slowly and gradually moving toward the financial freedom and the market will soon be green.

this is not the slowest period because some time ago there was the slowest period for crypto. so I think now it can be used as one of the rising stages of ethereum that is still running slowly and will continue to run to the highest position in some time to come.

This time of the period in cryptosystem it is hard time. However, the fall of bitcoin and Ethereum really affect the others token in the market. When will the market be better now, this fall in market have started since six months now. What are the next step most portfolio now turn to lose. I hope things get better in the market. The current market is in a difficult time. First, a large number of trading platforms have been attacked, followed by many celebrities who criticize the encryption market!

This is not the most sluggish period mate. If I remember it correctly, I think last February is the longest period where Bitcoin remained at $6000-6500 and it struggled for 1 month in there until it received some support for $7000 so it got away that bracket. Now bitcoin, once again declined to $6000 bracket and hopefully we should get the same support to get out of this slumber.

For now it's hard to tell when the period of recovery will come.

But as long as you are holding, you have to keep it until the price goes back again or it's up to you if you want to cut loss.

Looking at the current situation of the entire crypto market, we can say that this is a very difficult test for all those who have invested their money into different crypto coins as they are not happy with the way the crypto market is behaving now a day. So far from the time I joined the cryptoworld yeah I think this year would be the most sluggish time ever. And I think the whales are trying to pull down the market so some big investors can jump in and join the cryptocworld and buy coins at a cheaper price.

I think we are still experiencing the aftermath of the December/January rise. The market went up to an insane amount, causing the drop afterwards, and we are still struggling to recover from that.

I think we all know that all the coin is too chubby. You can not say anything about it. the market has fallen down.

I think, now is not a bad period for crypto. Just look that I found, there is a really good one - Paytomat. It is a payment solution for crypto. Yes I agree to this where altcoins prices are now again unstable or plummeted, I now hold all my altcoins and will sell them after all goes up normally.

I think the movement last december caused more harm than good since with the exception of april, 2018 has been more of a correction for that crazy run. We all thought that may would start the ascent for the market but eventually we're going to dip a lot more. So I guess we can all agree that this market is weak for the moment and we're all waiting for that rally to come. Hopefully before the year ends.

The market is still very weak, but we saw some small bounces in the last days in there are still some supporter who think that this is the new bottom. But I think that we will see another low at the bitcoin price and the markets will struggle again then.

Yes i would agree this is the weak period for cryptocurrency. Again and again the market goes to down only. There is no proper significant growth in its price. From 2018 starting itself there is no big growth in its price.  It struggles to increase, but all are expecting by the end of this year bitcoin will have a tremendous growth and prove the strength of the bitcoin.

I'd say that accumulation period. All who save funds for purchase can buy interesting coins on the deepest level. Maybe we can go down yet but it will not much. And now it is a good time to make portfolio

Indeed, the crypto market is developing very slowly, many coins fall and have a short-term trend of falling. But I hope that soon our waiting for a good rise.

I think now that people are familiar with mt gox selling off their huge horde of bitcoins people are less willing to invest when they will simply push the markets down again. It needs big corporate investors to join in and get the markets going again

I predict until year end bear market

We cant really see a market which do only emphasize or do have only positive news or movements. There would be always negative ones which means we should really expect for these kind of market conditions.There would be always a correction and not only seeing shooting up prices and thats how the market works.

For now considering or checking out on the price i can say this would be a good range when you are going for long term but for shorter or day trades volatility nowadays is too big on gaps which are good to make money if we do know how to utilize it.

Weak period because of the ongoing bear market (started from January), as long as Bitcoin fluctuates between 6-8k we will not see any bigger altcoin gains. Though, when we break out like 10k or more per BTC we might be heading into something beautiful, cause normies will again start FOMOing ;)

I think that everyone understands that the whole market depends on bitcoin. But in the near future, the restoration of Bitcoin to last year's maximum is almost impossible. I even doubt that we will return Bitcoin above 10,000 dollars.

I know that but I just can't avoid to feel sad about weak periods and it stresses me out. But then,I keep positivity alive which helps me to be motivated at all times despite big changes. I guess it's because of our economy that is affected to taxes and different regulations in each trading system. Not to mention,money exchanges between dollar and peso and other currencies which involved to dollar. Soon enough this will go back to its position. Let's keep holding on.

Regarding the OP's concern, yeah I think this is the most sluggish run for cryptocurrency since the last few years, maybe because of the sudden pump of Bitcoin last year. One thing is for sure, we'll be back on track soon and hit another ATH.

Well it seems they say this has happened before. Bitcoin dropped and couldn't rise for about a year and more before it recovered. Anyways the hype at that at time wasn't close to what we experienced currently (from 2017-18)

Me too I think of it also that this is the sluggish period since I joined, as you say. Still if you think that 5k to 6k USD is the must downfall period its not because base on the people I ask who joined in to the crypto world way before we starter that 3k was the less amount that gotten bitcoin value so it means that same goes to other altcoins that is in the same state of bitcoin (not the same price but low as bitcoin).

Still, we must ne patient and stay put hold and do not panic.

I agree, this would be a great time for us to practice being patient and just keep on holding on to our coins. And I don't think this would be the weakest period of cryptocurrency. Wait till we get to the halving period too, wherein bitcoin lessens half of the price it is at present.

Good point regarding POS coins, anything that creates passive income like these coins can help you during these periods were values continue to decrease but you can stay a bit more relaxed if your coin creates some revenue in return

For one, the year just started and we are just in the halfway mark. Most of the gains in crypto are commonly seen on the later months up to December. Normally Q1 and Q2 are rooms for some price correction and FUD attacks from different outlets while Q3 is where prices begin to pump due to major updates and most tokens are in for their timeline. It has been a sluggish period but unfortunately I think it had to happen for the future of bitcoin and the crypto market in general. The ATHs in Dec/Jan were way to high for such a young market and what we have seen in the last few months has just been a correction. Yes I agree with you, if now is not being a period of weak market for crypto. I see the market is now likely to be stable crypto. the decline and rise of the market that happens almost in balance, if compared with the end of last year I think it to be wrong because in history, last year was his best year crypto. the decline in the value of assets at our disposal that does not mean a weakening of the market occurs on crypto.
