The Chinese New Year party is over. People are back to work. Gridseed has made their announcement saying the USB devices are ready to ship. However the blade version does not have an estimated shipping date.
http://cybtc.com/thread-5952-1-1.html

During the holiday season, engineers keep working on improving the stability of the Firmware. The latest version of cgminer, cpuminer, firmware source code, PCB, BOM and etc would be available in one to two days.

There is a little bit delay on shipping the devices due to the unexpected purchasing from larger orders. However,  It's time to process the first batch of 10 packages. Each package has 10 5-chips USB devices and a Wiibox controller. There're totally 100 units available in this batch. To suitable for everyone's needs, we would accept orders based on unit and package.

The price is:
For units less than 5, USD 299.00 per unit.
For units great than 5 but less than 10, USD 279.00 per unit.
For 10 units, we will give out Wiibox controller for free, and it would be totally USD2590.00 per package.

Shipping is included for every order and it can be shipped to worldwide.

What are included:
- 5-chips USB miner.
- wiibox controller, for 10 units package only.
- shipping and handling.

What are not included:
- Duty or tax, if there is any.
- Power supply. You need a 12V, 5A power supply for each miner. Or a regulated switching power supply for several miners, eg: 12V, 30A switching as recommended by Gridseed.
- Power cables if you choose the regulated switching.
- A USB hub that supports 10 devices. (13-15 devices recommended. You need to connect all 10 miners and the controller, and maybe some other accessories)
- 10 USB to mini USB cables.
- Micro USB power supply. This one is for the wiibox controller.

How to pay:
BTC. The actual BTC price will be calculated at the time when the invoice is sent. Please PM me how many units do you want to order along with your shipping address. I'll send you the BTC payment address with the final BTC price.

When to ship:
The package will be shipped out within 3 business days from China after the payment is confirmed.

The quantity of the first batch is limited, it works as first come first serve. I am working on to smooth things up. With people backing to work, I will provide more devices gradually.

This price is $100 less than everyone else and you are new with no escrow...beware...

The devices are all with the latest firmware. It's the stable version. So the major difference from the the previous beta version is the white button for flashing the firmware is removed.

This price is $100 less than everyone else and you are new with no escrow...beware...
I have a deep relationship with Gridseed. That's why I can get this price. If you prefer the higher price, I'd be glad to raise it in the next batch...

OP, if your genuine, (like you made a username just for this product)  Please understand what this site gets EVERY HOUR! just lots of scams!.

If you really want to be taken seriously please build up some steam first, Or deal directly with a well know member here who can vouch for you.

Or at least consider Escrow for the first few units, Or send some out to trusted members.

If your for real, I wish you the best for your venture, Don't take my knock personally.

It can mine other altcoins. Someone in the Chinese forum cybtc.com had already done this. I didn't test myself though.

Here is the control board. It's not the same version as you guys have already seen before. When the 10 units package is ready, it will be either this one or the old version.

Hi OP
usually... from what I've seen... the escrow services are provided by a trusted member on this forum...Not from the OP's bank.

I could be wrong...

No escrow with trusted member = scam.

Escrow fees should be like $5 max, not $50.  Banks are not the way to go for escrow, we all know most of them HATE BTC ::)

For your 10 units package, I have 2 options:
you can choose another member to do escrow for our transaction.
Or you can just pay after you get the package.

IIRC it is an update to existing units and in beta stage, The production units are said to be 300-350KHs stable, the latest firmware is to be used at your own risk.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong.  ::)

No problem, Start creating a pre-order list, (make sure my 10 are in  ::) ) Then PM me with everyone's order, I will PM and start gathering payments, I will be able to keep you informed of everyone's payment status, Dont send unless I confirm their payment received, I will release the funds to you as people confirm their order as arrived.

NOTE - you need to tell the customer (and me) the BTC amount it confirms to to avoid confusion of payment arguments.

If this is too complicated for you, PM me the cost of shipping and unit costs, I will do a group buy backed by your units, All you have to do is send them out to addresses I provide and then get paid.

Where do you ship from? And you write: BTC preferred. So what do you accept besides that?
Problem is I don't have enough BTC at the moment.. If shipping location sounds reasonable (EU would be so great)
and if I can pay e.g. with SEPA (or is that a no-go for you, squall?), I'd take 10 as well..

Using cpuminer you can push the clock rate up manually but the control units they provide have a software they have developed to get a higher hash rate i don't know about other providers.

I'll be collecting the orders from now on.

And this means? You sentences are short and don't make much sense, Are you now not doing escrow?

I mean I will collect the orders and send to you to process the escrow.

OK, confirmed, Just so we know where we are.

NOTE TO EVERYONE - Please deal directly with seeds for your order and any questions, I will contact you when seeds has passed the information for those wanting escrow, The amount to be paid has to be confirmed with seeds.

Also note, I am not charging and never will for escrow, If you feel I have been useful feel free to tip my address in my profile.

Ok so...After just getting scammed yet again in the last couple days (1.1btc to that  AvalonShenzhen 3rd batch 210gh scam) I'm not ready just yet to throw away more money to an 'escrow' hero member who...at least with my default trust settings...HAS ZERO TRUST!!

sorry squall1066 you could be the most honest guy or a scammer who knows how to sweet talk posts....I'm not ready to find out.

Op, if you get John K to escrow...I'm in...if HE screws me over, then this site is truely dead.

How about this... No escrow, No payment up front...You send DHL COD??
You send DHL 'Collect on Delivery' and then DHL itself is the middle man!!
You ship a brick...you get a brick back with a bill for return shipping.
You ship actual product...we pay DHL when we receive it, you get your money!!!
We cant steal from you either, no money, DHL ships it back to you.

What do you say?

I have no problem with your views, I have been scammed quite heavily in the past, It's not easy to find someone here we can truly trust, I did not realize I was sweet talking tho  ;D I just don't feel the need to swear/rant/rave about things, I say my peace, It's up to other people if they listen.

The DHL idea sounds interesting, Does opening the box before payment count as "delivered" tho? You might need to check with DHL if they will let the receiver rip open everything before paying.

As far as I know JohnK is a very demanded person and has been off for a few weeks, Come back, then is off again for another few weeks, It might be hard to get him.

It is, and not only DHL does it. FedEx, USPS, UPS, others...Most shippers offer the service. With the shady nature of stuff here, I don't see why it's not promoted more... I'd gladly pay the extra fee for the COD service if it means less chance of getting screwed.
I see obvious reasons why it's never mentioned or accepted from the scam sellers though.

thanks for the reply squall1066...I honestly haven't been going back through your posts to see 'what' you post. Thanks for understanding...
DHL in particular would definitely allow package content inspection before paying...(at least where I am). They also allow, once a tracking number is known, for the delivery to be changed to'hold and pickup' at the DHL office instead of the final delivery location.
I would like to see even known, trusted sellers add this as an accepted option of payment. I think this could really clean up this section. If honest/established sellers started offering this, with buyers paying the COD fees of course, it would go a long way to making it a known, safe method of payment.
I have actually received a Cube from another seller in this Group Buys section so trusted sellers do exist.
Honest sellers would get MORE business when they can offer a truly impartial, third party exchanging goods for cash. And scammer (A) trying to rip people off would have no answer when honest seller (B) is selling the same product at a slightly higher price, but immensely lower risk.

That is no hijacking because we are talking about this NEW thread with a NEW member posting this GROUP BUY, which has many comparisons to the thread that I posted. WE ARE ON TOPIC until this part of the thread no longer needs to be discussed, and we can talk about other stuff such as updates and overclocks..... for NOW, it is the authenticity of this thread that should foremost be discussed, unless people want to end up like the thread I posted, or the countless other shenanigans that can go on here....

I hear that, I would trust the above also.

I have a problem with ALL of us just trusting a FEW members, We are dealing with a trust based commodity and need to develop our own circles of trust, This (IMO) reduces risk and pressure (the mighty have been known to fall)

I agree my trust is not close to the "big boys" But would everyone rather no choice at all?

i think everyone would prefer this to be legit, and no one loses their coin.
Seems like there are others starting to offer this as well....up to seeds how it goes for him and for those that choose to trust him.

I would be willing to send my shipping costs for 10 units with C.O.D., and the rest of course upon confirmed delivery of the product....maybe he needs to do one or two of those to impartial members interested in this group buy....nothing against you personally squall but right now you can't be too careful and being that he chose you, it naturally make you look suspect....

Once again, No offense has been taken, I enjoy the diversity of this community, I like people who can think for themselves.
I don't quite see how I could be sketchy in this gridseed buy, I do want to buy some myself, and I am actually liking the DHL C.O.D. idea.
I even run my own thread keeping tabs on escrowers and customers experiences, Not an absolute guide, But more of a cross reference idea. So far I have not had anyone's details from seeds and have not taken any money on his behalf.

As far as this topic goes, I will do my normal escrow for anyone that wants it, I just popped in pushing escrow in the first place so I guess it's my fault  ::) it's OP thread, It's up to him who he will accept, Feel free to offer up more people to him, Lets see how this goes.

In ref to the topic you linked to, To be honest I did not reed ALL of it, But I got how it was setup and played through, There are quite a lot of these scenario's out there, only by working together and creating our own "trust circles" do we stand a chance.

I just came back and read through the above comments.

Trust is always the key to this kind of business. We are dealing in the virtual world and it is totally true that both buyers and sellers are facing scam everyday.

I have the same concern here. You were just talking about protecting buyers. But how about the seller? Say if I do the escrow. Buyers pay to the escrow service. When buyers confirm the product and ask the escrow service to release the fund to the seller, the escrow service just disappears or just says he released the fund but actually he didn't, what should the seller do?

No offense to squall1066. I still decide to do escrow with squall1066 for this batch. However, to protect myself, I want to split the 100 units to 50-50. I'll ship the first 50 units first. When I get the payment from squall1066 for the first 50 units, I'll process the second 50 units.

I already have the miners ready. Haven't had time to read all the PMs but I think this batch is almost sold out, or maybe it is already. I'll do some homework, prepare the order list and send it to squall1066. The list will be posted here as well. I'll PM the members that didn't provide me the shipping info to confirm the order. All these will be done by tomorrow hopefully.

By the way, for those who were asking for the DHL/UPS/FedEx COD services, I used to offer escrow service from escrow.com. I believe that's the trusted 3rd party to do the transaction. If you guys want to go through that, I have no problem with that. I don't prefer COD because I don't want to deal with all kinds of currencies.

Thanks.

Don't want to change the subject, I advise any prospective buyer to use escrow and mainly to use common sense.

I do have a separate point though: price/profitability.
I know you guys are mining just for the sake of the network and in "ars gratia artis" terms. But these will never break even mining at 3Mh with 90W power consumption, at 0,1$/KW, which are all very optimistic.
And don't tell me you will be also mining SHA, because at that hash/power consumption it will lose you money from day one.
At a 3% difficulty increase you will be 1500$ in the red after ~500days. Do you need to wait that long to find out you've lost 1500$?

And we all know that once ASICS get in, the diff will explode. Bitcoin has about 25-30% steady diff increase. But the first Bitcoin ASICS, whoever got them first were sold at a price that could be recouped in 30 days or less. Gridseed, as it is priced right now does not break even!

My point and message to you, seeds is that your price is too high. Especially in the current Crypto market.
Please price it at a level at which the miners can make a buck, at least a small one.
I'd buy if this would have a max 90 days breakeven time.

maybe but... I for one, have free power...also, your basing this on no increase in coin value. If alt coins balance out in the future, with ltc generated at 5x the coins of btc, ltc may eventually reach 1/5 btc value.
either way, this 'could' easily make a profit in the future.

Do you have these in hand yet? Or is it all still "when the manufacturer delivers"?
I to have this same question as well
Also I have never heard of these up until recently, do you need the  wiibox controller for these to work or can you run them right through a usb hub to your PC.
If you are able to run them through a hub to your pc without this controller box I would be interested in 5 or 6 of them

Hi everybody

So I replied early on this this thread that I would be interested in 10 unit with escrow. And looks like I'm in the preliminary shipment of units. So I put down my payment with squall1066. I'll take pictures and videos of the units once they arrive.

I've heard this argument before. Fact is bitcoin is almost exclusively the gateway to fiat. And everyboy is paid in fiat. Nobody is buying Litecoin to go to buy stuff online.
Litecoin will need to have acceptance as a payment medium greater than Bitcoin for your scenario to happen. I say greater because bitcoin was first and has the media attention. To reach value parity to Bitcoin, Litecoin will need to catch up and overtake Bitcoin in media coverage and acceptance as a payment method. The sad news is that litecoin is not bitcoin. Look at the LTC/BTC exchange rate and correlate that with the downs in the crypto market to understand that.
Everyone is basing their investment decisions on the bitcoin history repeating: ASICS get in, diff increases, coin value increases.
Well, everybody acts on this hypothesis. There is no payback in going with the crowd. The profit is for those that are already there.

Maybe someone can answer this for me as I know very little about these devices: do you need the wiibox controller for these to work or can you run them right through a usb hub to your PC, if you can run them through your PC without the box what software's can you use. Currently I use CGMiner for Scrypt

From the looks of it the wiibox is just a small linux device running minerd, There have been people that ran these on windows pc, and there has been some Raspberry Pi development. But things are still in the experimental area since this hardware is so new. It's one of the reasons I want a couple, see if I can get these mining on a Pi with a self modified version of cgminer.

you can run without wiibox controller. but AFIK this can only configure with windows only(as per cybtc.com figures). cgminer or sgminer(customized scrypt cgminer) can mine with this hardware.

That's good info to know if running without the controller.  I would have tried it on x64 and been really confused when it didn't work.

I'm processing the orders now.

So far, the first 50 units are under escrow. The buyers are:
Klintay, darkfriend77, darkjed, anarchyx, and squall1066.

The seconds 50 units are pending. When the first 50 units are received, I'll send the info to squall1066. The buyers are:
n4spd, Simon66, bearsworth, souljah1h, and kushedout (may escrow with someone else), jamesco (no escrow).

There are lots of members sent me PM asking for units. However, the entire 100 units are sold to the above members. But you are on the waiting list. I'm working on the next 100 units and hopefully they will be arrived in 1 week. So please keep an eye on the thread. Besides, I haven't got all shipping info from the buyers in the 2nd 50 units. If any of them quits, I'll go with the first members in the waiting list.

They run on Win8-64bit with minred. You have to reset them every few hours and that's were the wiibox is probably helpful. The hash rate fluctuates wildly from 200kh-400Kh. I have one that runs pretty stable for almost 24 hours at a time and another that needs to be constantly reset every 6-10 hours.

It's something like this:
http://www.parts-express.com/12v-dc-29a-348w-regulated-switching-power-supply--320-315 (http://www.parts-express.com/12v-dc-29a-348w-regulated-switching-power-supply--320-315)

You need a power cord in UK standard to connect this to the wall. Than a bunch of power cables like the 3rd pic in the above link. That's all for you to power your miners.

Please note that I didn't mean I recommend the above link. That's only a reference.

Or simply use 10 of this for each miner:

It can run under Windows OS for sure. I've personally tested these under Windows using CPUminer with the miner connected to the computer directly. And I also tested mining under the control of wiibox, under Windows too.

I got some requests from EU countries for the miners. I would like to help but still a little bit worry about the CE mark thing. squall1066's package to UK is still in the custom according to the tracking info.

I won't process any requests from EU until I get squall1066's confirmation of receiving the package. But I'll hold the units for those members for a while. I'm wondering if someone can help me to get through this?

OK great thanks, also since I have seen here how satisified others are i feel comfortable not having to do escrow and transferring the coins directly to you. Also the $299USd per included shipping?

I think the 500kh version is vapourware. Have a read of this forum and you will see the users of the "supposed" 500kh sets are only getting 400kh at best. People see a screenshot of 10 units hashing near a 500kh range believe that this is the long-term stable speed. But in reality if I power cycle my units enough time and look at it the first few mins I would get such a reading from the interface. It is just an estimate for a few minutes.

~ 400kh is the best you can do at the moment without new development from the manufacturers. There will be small increases coming soon.

English docs about CE marking. All I can find the marking is not required for all items. Merely things like toys and electronics and stuff.
The miners just look like a simple cooling fan. Hope they get trough.

Question, for all those sold miners that are not in ten packs, they do not get a controller board, so in the end you should end up with a couple of extra controller boards. Would you be selling these individually??? If so I might be interested in one

Also, what good is the miner without this 'control board' .. what does the 'controller' do? is it simply a raspberry pi or like?

As I understand it, you can use the miners with any linux, if you compile/use (customized) cpuminer od cgminer.
Even a Windows PC should do the work.

The board is a small ARM based linux computer so you dont need any aditional hardware.
This is my understanding.

You are correct, it is an efficient way of mining, also with what people have developed for windows so far will not allow you to dual mine only one or the other

An ARM based linux pc needs like 7W, an atom / celeron PC needs at least 40w (been there, done that).

Seeds,

The extra controllers you will have due to individuals ordering less then 10 boards, are you willing to sell and ship those. Id be interested in one if the price is right. There is another group buyer on here doing this but they want $120 per controller board which i feel is a rip off

you could use a simple 12v 25a ... which probably should handle 10 miners for scrypt only ... I will verify this ... today ...

It's 1% of whatever amount, regardless of exchange rate. I only deal with BTC. So, your $259 miner will have a fee of $2.59, because that's one percent. Or something like that. In BTC.

If you send 0.45920000 BTC for it, then I will keep 0.00459200 BTC as my fee and forward the rest to the seller. (Or add 1% to his price, whatever.)

Now, if you order 10 miners, then of course the fee is 10 times more, because you are now paying $2590. 1% of that is $25.90. In BTC, that translates to, you sent 4.59200000 BTC, get your 10 miners, then I take my one percent which is 0.04592000 BTC, and send the rest to the seller.

I hope that makes sense.

Ive been looking at these on ebay to power the units:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-20A-240W-Switch-Switching-Power-Supply-Driver-For-LED-Strip-Light-110V-220V-/370609614049?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564a0dece1#ht_2833wt_1312

the first would power 4 the second would power 6, then you just need some cable ends

Hi all

I received all my units. Below is a couple of pictures of the temporary set up. I made my own power connectors out of male molex 4 pin power connectors with the 12 v line powering 2 gridseeds. I'm using 2.5X5.5 plugs, and although they fit and work, they are kind of loose. I might try something different for a next batch. This is connected to a 600 watt computer psu. I don't have a killawatt, but i might pick one up today to really see if these acutally draw so little power. They are kind of noisy but i plan on sticking them in a garage so noise shouldn't be an issue.

Can you list the specs for your PSU or model, also how many did you wire to the psu and what is your setup here. I have a few PC PSU's lying around and these looks like a better option for me then wasting money on some something on ebay.

Wow, for some reason I didn't know we could do this with the gridseeds.  I saw a video online where someone said they fried it hooking up to 12v from an ATX power supply.  I'm guessing he must have crossed the wires or did something wrong, because you have this up and running. Thank you for sharing.

I just got mine today! Just trying to figure how to use these :S

I got everything connected (Hacked up my PSU 12V line), used cpuminer, but my device is hashing at 150Kh/s then drops to 90Kh/s (Im mining on suchcoins.com).

Also, on the cpuminer I see this:

http://s28.postimg.org/6ik0ubacd/grid1.png

As you can see, it shows 0.00Kh/s

Where can I get a good copy of cpuminer?

Thanks!

In which case you still need to pay that $15. Anything coming in Canada that is greater than $10 (Well most of the time), will be charged a 13% "tax" on the product.

I'm not sure if there is a way to avoid that.

So I was able to use a PC PSU, the PCIE especially are useful as you can use one PCIE power cable to connect to 3 devices since each pcie cable has 3x12V+ and 4xGroundm, also note you can use an ide molex to power the controller board and 1 miner, One ide Molex has 1xred wire(5V) for control board, 1xyellow wire(12v) for one miner, and 2 grounds

Here are some pics, also here is a link to all the how to's with me jumping right to the scematics I had requested:
From the top to about 2/3 down this page are all your power wiring scematics:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494625.100

Wiring:I used a 2.5mm plug from an old adapter I had lying around, the black with white/grey stripe is v+, and I stripped a Micro usb cable and use the red and black
for power to the control board. I am able to log into the control board and edit settings, but without a powered usb hub the board is unable to see the miner. Dont mind the mess I just got home from work and rushed head first into this then freaked out when I realized I did not have a power USB hub lying around and all the stores were closed!!

Wiring: For PCIE wiring refer to the link above, with PCIE you can wire 3 miners, but no controller as PCIE is all 12V.
In this Photo you can see the yellow(12V+) Black combination for the miner and the red(5V+) black combination for the controller.

Miner running, hooked directly to my Windows 7/64bit PC, no drivers nessessary auto detected, good to go. You can't tell from the phone camera flash but there is a green pulsating light and a red light. the red light comes on everytime a share is found.

The WIIcontrol board, have it powered up, but lacking powered USB Hub at the moment to hook the miner to it. Had some miner cosmetic damage when i received it, still works though.

Minerd running and hashing away, along with the bat file settings, notice I have it OC'd to 850, it is currently giving me anywhere between 345-375KH/s. When you plug the miner into your windows PC it should auto install if you have a newer version of windows, you can then go to device manager and look up the miner and change the com port if you like, just make sure to match the com port in your .bat file. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/louiemgallant/Gridseedrunningandsetup_zps329eae36.jpg

Can someone post or PM me the password for control units purchased from seeds? Mine arrived updated to 2.0.2, but the root password was changed from 123456 to something else. I need root access to overclock, etc.

This is my first order of GS5's, I bought 30 from seeds. I don't have any others.  However I know that Imazzola here is starting to sell them as well (I live about a half hour away from him) Of course I will probably go where I can get the best deal between these sources, paying cash and local pickup is a nice option to have.  No offense to seeds as he has been great to work with. I was very surprised to have these units in hand via DHL Express shipped from Hong Kong to the midwest U.S. in 3 days.

Anyone else having problems getting their wiiboard working, mine arrived a little crushed the ethernet ports shroud is crushed and the dip pins were bent, I wine Ip into it but it wont detect the my miners, and it freezes up my internet half the time I try to log into it, someone in another thread  went through all the steps with me and suggested to me it might be doa, I have no idea though.

For any one with the older model(Gold fins)   or interested in trying the link below gets Sha and scrypt up and running in windows
Caution: read the comments below it before attempting, I have a newer model(Red finned) which uses STM32 Virtual com port instead of the older driver CP2102 USB to UART, at the moment i can either switch to doing sha256 in windows with the device or switch back to Scrypt, it is being looked into. I resorted to this as the control board i received did not work and frozen my router up everytime i tried to access it, so I put it in a box and put that box in the trash. If you attempt this and wish to switch back, just download the STM32 Virtual usb driver, unplug your device, reinstall the STM Driver and plug your device back in.

- Power supply. You need a 12V, 5A power supply for each miner.

Which connector is needed for the gridseed miner?

hey bro's could I wire this http://sgcdn.startech.com/005329/media/products/gallery_large/LP4PCIEX8ADP.main.jjpg.jpg to the barrel connector and hook this pcie into the PSU? I got a bunch of these laying around and was wondering if this is possible

Just wondering what you all would do with this.

I ordered all the extra wires/PSU and stuff with my miners and they even came pre wired! Only thing is the PSU's are wired for 220v, and I need 110v, and the wiring is glued into place on the PSU. I plan on just getting some adapter plugs and plugging it into my 110v outlets running it at 110v mode instead of 220v it came pre set for.

That should work, right, without any extra power draw, and of course without frying anything? Failing that I could just cut the end with the 220v plug off and wire on a 110v plug, I think.

Any thoughts?

There is a switch at the right side of the PSU:

I dont think the gold models are necessarily older.  I have one and it has the stm32 driver.
