I have been following bitcoins for the past 4 years. i am an Enginner. i remember how bitcoin was introduced to Me. To be honest, i was thruogh ponzi. i used to deposit over 0.1,0.4 to earn 0.7 to 0.9 bitcoins and i made a lot of Money. then, suddenly i decided to go for the killer jackpot and stack all my btc for once. i can remember clearly when a friend was advising me NEVER TO PUT ALL My eggs in one basket. i refused to listen and insist that it is only by strong will can one survived.
 Unfortunately I LOST EVERYTHING.  IT was my life saving. Both my earning and my interest.
To cut the story short. i borrow money form the friend that was advising me not to stake everything. i need to pay back. But i will never depart from my lesson learnt from the bitcoin  stuff. i bought another bitcoins last year august and keep it away from anything. i strongly believed that i will still get my money and my friends money.
Thanks to the current Market, I HAVE TO SELL EVERTHING TO PAY MY DEPTHS.

Why not learn trading you seem to be drowned with debt then if your going to risk every money you have then why not risk it all in trading. But before entering it you need to conduct some research first and learning the basic buy and sell in trading when to buy and what to buy then an exit strategy. Also manage some time to also learn the fundementals and technical analysis of crypto trading.

Good thing you have paid you debts with your friend as trust is hard to come by which can be ruined by money. It is also good to heard that instead of losing your trust in the cryptocurrency market you have learned your lesson and strive back to earn what you lost and paid your debt, I am hopeful that many people in this market will be like you as there are many people who are very negative of the market from the past months because of the prices and their losses. As a lesson we cannot change what we have lost we can only learn form it and make a change on the things that we can still do.

Gambling and ponzi can ruin your life. If you can't stop gambling and ponzi then you will loose everything. I think you are lucky that you paid your debts but take it as life lesson and avoid it again in future. I suggest you to do productive work and since you're an engineer that wouldn't be very hard for you. Good luck mate

This is another lesson for the people that why we don't have to invest our borrowed money into the crypto currencies,just invest that extra money which is affordable for you.OP if you have chance to invest again just hold it all the way and surely you can make huge money by holding it in long term.

Gambling can ruin a person's life, except those who are smart on betting, but not for people who have just entered gambling. I do not think gambling will achieve satisfaction, because once you win you will think that you can win again, and you will eventually lose again after continuing your gambling, and it keeps repeating.
Now you are lucky to pay off your debt, it will ease your burden. and to get back the bitcoin we can start from zero until the really successful return, but remember do not get into the same hole again.

A good strategy is to keep the majority of your net worth untouched, where you cannot risk it. Then use the remaining small amount as you please. Fire away and jump into whatever you see as worth investing in. That way if there is a loss, it's not crippling.

The fun, excitement, and our will to win the game can sometimes lead into something that is very much frustrating, and that is losing what we have. My question is you bought bitcoin on August, why you didn't sold it on December?

Its really a expensive lessons to learn. . But you says you bought bitcoin last August 2017, why then you not sell everything during December? That's the best opportunity to let go of your bitcoins and could possibility pay the debts and you can still have some left for you. Probably you think that bitcoin price could go on a parabolic rise which unfortunately didn't happen because it will not happen. Oh well, it really sucks but at least you are free and I do hope that you learn your mistakes and if ever you are going back to the market, let this guide you and hope that you will make the correct decision.

Just a piece of advice, if you are really eager to get back on track then step up to another level of taking opportunity in crypto world. Don't just rely on holding since price is unpredictable. Learn other stuffs and methods to take advantages of crypto.

We should always listen up to those people who are more far experienced with us and you just neglect on what your friend do say. At first read up or glance you had invested on a ponzi and make some money and i do consider it as a lucky thing because most people or all people do invest with these things do normally lose up money instead of earning due to scamming owners. The second one you decided for a killer jackpot? I dont know if this is on gambling or another ponzi again. Its just a dumb decision to make on where taking a loan to someone just to invest into a very risky thing and now you have learned a lesson.

I do not know how you will cry in this year end. With in this year end we will be find the bitcoin price to touch the 10k USD or even more. I know will cry in that time.

There's a lot of contradictory statement here. You already made a lot of money, then why you still borrow money from you friends? Its not that you put your eggs in one basket, but you became greed. Thinking that you can still made more money out of the crypto market.

However, there is a sudden U-turn of events, bullish to bearish, all the big money is gone. But just like everyone else tells you now, its not to late to re-invest, since you know how the market works, but this time use your common sense and learn from your past mistakes.

It is the proof that a person can be a better one after his/her failure. And success comes after failure. Failure is your key to move forward just stay positive that you will survive whatever happen. Sometimes also failure is the way to make a better move next time.

I'm also one that my expectation went high during that time and also its the time that we are still learning the timing of selling.

Hope you will get back your position and will earn money as much as you need. You know that the market is very unstable and uncertain so that many of us are facing more or less loss of capital. But this platform requires a lot of time and patience. I think if you have some idle money then you may involve in this platform in order to make money, otherwise, it may hamper your daily life.

I would like to share something and that could help people and I could give new ideas/information about I learn in the past is this are..

1. Like you did Hold but make sure you buy low when you want to hold(HODL). Well not just in this scenario you could hold it is when bitcoin also go down.

2. Do not panic when bitcoin or other altcoin goes down because like OP you might regret it and make a bad decision.

3. When you are investing make sure it is low and wait for the high goal which is "buy low sell high option".

If you sell your coins you will not have any profit when the time Bitcoin reaches its peak I see the bitcoin price big in the market when comparing last month and now. Still this is not a good price bump buddy.
After little dump and again now bitcoin price will be bumped for sure in the market.
Ignore the bad news whatever you hear and then invest more.

Same, I guess what happened was he lost everything which was the borrowed money then bought some during mid 2017 to pay back the loan after holding Bitcoin for almost a year.

Others were saying he should've sell when Bitcoin was at the peak during December. If I had an on going loan paying back would be my first priority too. Maybe OP had his own plan at that time he wanted to get more by holding and expects the price to go even higher which didn't happened.

That is the best experience that give you the best lesson in crypto world. You should not be impulsive in deciding when it comes to money because it is not easy to lose everything in an instant. After all the hardworks to get the money then disappears all of a sudden. After selling all your bitcoins and freed yourself from debt that is the best time to start all over again and this time you will be wiser.

There is always a lesson. They always say "Never risk all your stakes at once".

It may be appropriate for your current situation, but for the future if bitcoin can increase it will make you feel regretful that you sold today, but if selling it gives you a lot of profit then you Sell it to reinvest capital flows

He prioritize to pay his friend for the debt he made almost a year ago and I don't see any problem on selling your bitcoin to pay your debt. I do believe that bitcoin will grow more this year, but its not too late to have more bitcoin. Now that OP is debt free, I'm sure he will come back here to buy more bitcoin, I'm sure he knows what to do now because of his past experience.

That's good for you. You already paid what you need to pay, that is already a lesson for you. Next time to play gambling or any other risking money activity, don't use all your money and bet all of it. Make sure that you will just money or bitcoin that is only afford to lose. There is no assurance on risking your personal savings or any kind of our savings.

How you are lucky that you sold at 2100$ and today the rate is 8200$ so you have made almost 6k loss per btc and if you multiply by 195 that is the total life you could have easily spend with those amount. It is a huge loss to you mate.

Pitty that you had to sell all your Bitcoins but the good thing is that Bitcoin gave you the opportunity to cover your debts. So I think this is another positive story how Bitcoin helped people with their financial situation.

Haha, that's funny. Like you I also don't understand the point behind op's words. He made a mistake, he lost everything because of ignorance, than he tried again and he made new mistake. Now he thinks that he is free, but as you say after he sold market is growing again. Crypto eat weak minds for breakfast, it was like that before and still is.
Now he is free, regret will come for some time, sooner or later I always say, time will show who was the biggest loser and who was smart. At least put 5% - 10% of your salary as an engineer if you solely believe on bitcoin since you've been here for 4 years.

You may mistaken that if you go too short then once the btc starts the run it will climb like 1 or 2k in a day and you would lose a huge money in such trading. So stay cautious and do not go short now. I would recommend to buy more on dips.

It is good for you but, for us I guess it is good to because we already knew if we can hold that long all of our bitcoins. And taking it as advantage to buy more bitcoins for the future of it. I am hoping it will be the digital currency that will be use of all people in the future. 

The future of Bitcoin in recent years is very clear. Entertainment services, Gambling, Shopping, etc. paid by Bitcoin. We can look forward to the future, at least until the end of the year, at which point the market may experience major fluctuations.

Probably too early to sell Bitcoin. I think the price could increase by 2-3 times in the near future. I still intend to buy 1-2 BTC at this time :))

I think selling BTC at this time is not the right choice when the market is showing signs of recovery, if you want to sell BTC, the moment a few weeks ago when it recovered near 9k $ is the best time. Investors should keep their coins and keep track of market trends.

Selling all Bitcoin is not a good idea to me. There is still room for Bitcoin to jump. Selling off now is a Hasty discission which is dangerous because when you sell off and the price jump to 17k. You will start to regret

the best thing to do is to buy low and sell high whether it s bitcoin altcoin stocks or any other  thing we trade for long and short term depending on our aims  thats why we need patience to beat the market maker. i see that those who sold bitcoin above 15k usd are quite lucky and maybe intelligent. now i see a good opportunity to buy bitcoin low before the coming bullrun starts.

lol . you only love the quote? but you dont know what is actually mean , am i right ? the quote is cool because it composes of unique words such as eggs and basket but actually , putting all your eggs in one basket is also beneficial as long as you know what you are investing with . lets say you only invest on legit coins such as bitcoin and etherium , therfor putting all your eggs in one basket is really a good idea to apply in here because that can possibly give you a 100 percent return for your capital if ever the price would pump verry high .

I also sold everything, it seems to me that the market is bearish, a priori the whales want to take us in the abysses, when we will have been below 5000$ I will come back to the surface!

Even if he is still holding on right now I'm sure it will be more frustrating because the market continues to weaken every day. But if you can still assume, maybe we will believe if the value of bitcoin will reach again at the highest level at the end of this year. It doesn't matter if he sells all of his bitcoin at that time, because that's the choice he takes and might regret it if bitcoin can touch another $20k someday.

Bitcoin isn't for everybody. I mean in the sense that isn't for trading for everyone. If you attempt to panic and buy some at 7 K and have a panic attack when it falls down to 6 K you are not for trading and hodl anything. You did a good thing if you sold all you coins if you have depths. Every situation is different. Maybe you will buy some when you will have the money again and Bitcoin's price will be 4 K.

Yes I also think that you have made a very big mistake, I think that bitcoin price is already trading too much low then there is no need to sell in such a low price, we need to wait for some more time because still I am too much confident that bitcoin price is expected to increase too much in next few months.

Hindsight is 20/20. No one ever knows when to sell until it's too late. How could we have known in August last year that the coin would reach nearly 20k? At that point, everyone probably thought it could only get to 10k at the most. But here we are, a year later and the price is on its way back down to similar levels (but hopefully not all the way back to the 3k area).

I remember the shock when it broke through 3k. Everyone thought bitcoin was doomed then. I was shouting sell at 6k. Then it more than tripled. No one could have known.

It's people choice if they want to hold or sell their bitcoin . Because that is your money what ever happen you will lost it or gain it. But for me because you don't have a choice you may choose to hold your coins to get back your capital and gain some capital that you wanted to do.

Unfortunately, when you do this, at least you should keep yourself a little to monitor the market and surf. And now that you're an engineer, you're going to get Bitcoin easily .

The choice is always of the owner but what matters is the right time. People who bought BTC at $19K and if were holding it till yesterday and sold it @ +/- $6K will be the worst decision they have made. It is not about holding and selling all the time what matters is the correct decision in the correct time. I have converted my BTC to USDT when it was around $8K recently and now waiting to buy back BTC but I think I need to give it a while to buy back as I am expecting a little dip in the price.

Everyone has different opinions and investment in this market and I also believe that if it succeeds then it will be true. Currently I keep Bitcoin and I believe it will grow strongly back to the cryptocurrency market in the last months of the year. Cryptocurrency is still very young so I think the opportunities in this market are still huge.

IF there is an emergency then yes its worth selling bitcoin or other altcoins.  I would advice to hold the bitcoin and other crypto currencies for now waiting for every coin grow up. Last year august bitcoin price was in 3500-4500$ range and it went 20000$ December. You were lucky to enter market at that time and unlucky to sold at the top, anyway, you still got some profit from your investment.

But i decided to bet it all in a cloud mining cause it was supposed to be legit then i found out the hard truth that cloud mining are all scams.

I think it is quite wrong decision, I know that we all have financial problem and we need money so badly but it doesn't mean we should sell of our coins or assets, I mean you can sell some of your holdings but not all of them because all of your effort will be in waste. At first i think you mistaken that you borrowed money from your friend for investment where you do not know vast about that market. As it was a financial matter you should first research the cryptomarket for some days. Not only you, many invested here to make money at a night. I think at first you don't believe about Crypto. Otherwise you hadn't too  much knowledge about trading. When anyone come to trade in any business at first study about marker situation. After you selling a single piece of Bitcoin go high price . But you haven't anything to do.  Your problem is, why you don't learn trading you seem to be drowned with debt then if your going to risk every money you have then why not risk it all in trading. But before entering it you need to conduct some research first and learning the basic buy and sell in trading when to buy and what to buy then an exit strategy. Also manage some time to also learn the fundementals and technical analysis of crypto trading.

Good for you mate. Next time be careful when investing, never believed their sweet promises because there is no such thing as easy money. Always review their scheme and before joining those investment try to ask yourself how they're going to make your money grow. where did they got those interest.

If OP sell his bitcoin at right amount that is good but if he sell much lower value due to panic feeling that is bad idea. We are here not to throw our money we are here to earn profit that is why our target of selling is when the value of coins you have is much higher than you buying amount then you can sell it anytime you want but if it is below hust hold it.

Hope is something healing but one time comes when hope also does not work . I also did the same mistake I borrowed the money and bought coins. If you need money and you have nothing else except bitcoin then you should sell bitcoin besides you borrow money from here and there. Having bitcoin means that you overcome your financial problems. If you also sold for your financial hurdles then you did well.

Sometimes you do not check the price because there is no need to do that because the need is intensive and selling bitcoin becomes necessary. I understand his situation, I have once invested my money in bitcoin when I was still newbie and knows just nothing about how it works. Then one morning I woke up and my money was down to like 40% and about 60% or so was gone. I also have to say that I had the money in my Xapo wallet then and never cares to check it, cause I never expected such to happen.

The day I saw that I have lost more than half of my money, I just went crazy and I had no one to explain this to. So I reported to the support but they were not going to reply anytime soon, so I had to search for answers online and luckily I did get an explanation.

Actually it is depending on your interest, if you are interested in short term trading, then no doubt that you should not wait for a long time and should take quick decision, but if you are a long term investors then you have to wait for the good time to come.

It will be a good advice for all that you just invest in crypto which you can bear because sometime unexpectedly you didn’t get results as you plan.

Just invest money from your pocket & don’t barrow for investment in crypto, in case of loss in trading it will be more difficult to return your loan.

Do not worry much about this it is matter of time and in coming month you would realize that you will make more profits by holding the best coins . Currently market is being low so may be your portfolio would be down but wait for the bull run and see then how quickly it will increase the price.

Patience, that was also in my mind to have a wide patience in holding my coins from my portfolio even I saw that I have a huge loss. Sometimes I didn't look at the market price for how many weeks just not to panic when I saw the price that drastically dropped. We need a positive and motivated mindset in holding good coins and hopefully, it will raise up soon.

I can understand tention of people who own some coins that may or may not cost like really a lot. All of this daily price chackings and so on. Sorry mate but your statement shows lack of trust and confidence so I think it is very important to be confident about what you are investing, one of my friends took loan from banking just to buy bitcoin and now after holding of 1 ½ years he sold with more than double price and he returned the loan, even now he has high amount of money in form of profit.

You did the right job because many people failed to book the profits at the time pump. They think the price of Bitcoin will increase further value which makes to hold still, once the price reached high value we have to sell them otherwise we won't make much profit.

Well he/she can still buy at cheap price just like today so the OP has made the right decision to dump everything when the price is still high. And that's how everyone should really be, take profits, don't be emotional and silently accumulate bitcoins when the price is at a discount. And wait for another bull run before you make your decisions to sell-off and then rinse and repeat.

If OP buy bitcoin at low price and sell it at the huge price but when OP started this thread the value of coins are too started to dump that is why i think he generate only small profit but still he is lucky to sell it at early.

We have different point of view while we investing, some of the investors have a target amount of income before selling their coin, and there are investors even small amount of profit they always sell their coin to make the circulation of his capital and income will be more faster than holding coins for long period of time.

another stupid thing he did was sell all their bitcoin. I know that he has to pay all his debts but why he doesn't save a few percent
and grow it? its will be much better and profitable right. and you will have the rest even if you have paid your debt
