Did not even need to use the .conf file it synced right up just launching the wallet then I added the .conf file to stat solo mining. Blocks moving along with no problems.

What was the purpose of the large premine if not to P&D?

the premine is less than 1% it will be spent on bounties and giveaways. as well on general marketing purposes.

It's fucked up when people think a premine of 11,500,000 or 11500 blocks is small.

There is absolutely no reason for a premine that large unless you plan on P&Ding it. You can give any bs you want, but its the simple truth.

Just re-read your quote, actually that's exactly what KaozTiposta is saying. The mining supply/release of COIN is so slow that for the first 3 months, the premine basically accounts for 8% of the coins.

You're saying DOGE's total supply is 50% mined after the first time, which also means the premined coins at that point then will have much lesser weightage.. Essentially you just agreed with KaozTiposta :P.

It's a common issue with every single coin that is premined. There is no real solution to avoid it. There is so much coins that will have more than 20% premine in first year! even high valued ones.. I'll not name it, don't want to start pointless arguments.
After 4.5 years there is not much coins to mine, it's more like encouragement for miners not to mine just for transaction fees.

I'll not force no one to mine or support Coin, but I'll appreciate every miner, every supporter, every trader and even every lurker!
Coin is created to provide alternative for everyone who is looking for one. No hype, no hysteria, no massive GPU farms mining coin from very start.
Slow and steady grow of the network, lots of hashes on decentralized P2Pools, block explorer, pools, even the guy who translated ANN post to chinese.. It all shows people are recognizing Coin as valuable alternative.

Stop talking about how unfair the world is. You all are dealing with crypto currencies because it is the right moment in a million years to become rich (or at least try to). There is no fair way to become rich. Be honest with yourself. Every fork is primariliy an opportunity for its developers and contributors to become rich. One may wrap its fork to any philosophy (AISC-resistance, PoS, different hash algorithms, etc.) but in the very core every fork is just a try to become rich fast - an opportunity for its developers and contributors including miners who join the fork in the very beginning. If you feel that this is a long term coin - just join and mine. If you feel that this coin has no future - just leave. If you feel that someone is cheating you with numbers and percents - go and work as a cashier selling hamburgers. Accept the reality, do not complain, look for opportunities and get your luck.

Just to be clear, I don't see the issue with the premine actually. If we were to calculate every other alt coin this way most of the premines will account for a huge % of the actual supply within the first few months anyway :).

I like fun discussions, but the number of people screaming "scam" at every coin is just stupid nowadays. If you don't believe in the coin just don't mine it and leave, that's the best thing you can do :).

the way you promote your coin is not the right way to go. There are several hundred alt coins out here. Most of them are just a bullshit. Everyone tries to attract attention to his fork. More attention = more people involved = higher hashrate = better exchange rate. If noone mines your coin, it will be buried in a pile of other useless alt coins garbage. Natural network growth and expansion doesn't sound good at present days. COIN is not LTC right after its release. Circumstances are different.

What you really need today:

1) The right coin name;
2) The right coin philosophy;
3) The right hashing algorithm;
3) Advertising!!!
4) see 3)

COIN sounds good. It is simple and promising. But that's all. You should have chosen N-factor scrypt instead of standard scrypt as it is ASIC-resistant. When scrypt ASICs come they will be mostely utilized to mine LTC. Graphics cards power will be shifted to N-factor scrypt cryptos. What is the destiny of COIN in this context? You should have promised to add PoS in the near future. Your coin philosophy is not so good. Actually there is no philosophy at all. What is COIN? Who are the developers? Which ideas do they adhere to?

No advertising means no interest in your product/service. Today is not the right moment to expect natural growth and network expansion of a new alt coin.

THE CONCLUSION: START PROMOTING YOUR COIN, OTHERWISE IT HAS NO CHANCE TO SURVIVE!

If you do not show your intention to invest time/money in promotion of your fork, your coin is doomed.

Dev I think it's awesome you aren't hyping it up and all, but you've to have a roadmap or plan out for those of us mining it. The difficult has dropped from near 1.5 to 0.9... :(

miners are backbone of any coin, it's same with this one. I'm a small time miner myself, and I know paying for hardware and electricity is a must. And because of that Coin will take logical step forward, as it is planed, toward services and exchanges and assure miners investment is properly compensated.

There is no rush in getting exchanges asap, too many new coins experienced fiasco when introduced to exchanges too soon. I'll discourage everyone who wants to pay to exchanges for listing! payed votes etc..

I have a  technical question. When a node in a P2Pool network finds a block who gets the reward? Every miner of every node of the netwrok or only miners of that particular node which found the block?

And how it's possible (technically) to send additional coins to all miners of P2Pool network? Or it is possible to send coins to miners of one particular node only? Can you please explain this issue. You created a transation with a huge comission value which will be shared by guys who will find the next block in a hope that it will be P2Pool network guys? Or there is another technical possibility?

When a P2Pool node find a block, reward is going to all miners in the network,

and sending additional coins to the P2Pool is quite easy, thanks to P2Pool creators,
when sending to P2Pool network, it's checking http://p2pool-eu.coin-project.org:24002/patron_sendmany/1000.00 (http://p2pool-eu.coin-project.org:24002/patron_sendmany/1000.00) and node is responding what amount need to be sent to which wallet.

anyway guys, do you have any issues? like no sync, no connections, etc.. no one is reporting, so I presumed everything is OK..

Everything is OK except for the number of miners which is constant and low. I'm quite sure if the network won't get enough hashrate growth over time it can become a problem in the near future. Because new miners can suppose that everything is premined by relatively small number of people and will disagree to participate. Very aggressive hashrate growth during launch is bad too, but at least some positive growth slope is required. Is it possible to introduce COIN to a number of popular exchanges? What is current COIN value in terms of BTC or USD?

COIN is really young. It's just 5 days old. There is constant growth of twitter followers, and giveaway participants. Hashrate is quite low, jumping between 50 and 100 MH/s, but there is just few miners constantly mining.. most of the time, miners are changing  (looking at P2Pool data) and there is no concentration of COIN just for few miners.
COIN is not like other hyped currencies. It's aiming long term, stable services, a valuable asset in Internet payment processing.

The name COIN is by definition general purpose, so the vision of the COIN is general purpose as well. I'm a big fan of fedoracoin, or tips, or how they are calling it self today.. But tips have a purpose to tip.. There at community they want to be a restaurant tipping facility, and that is quite not possible. Can you imagine going to the restaurant  paying with let's say with fiat, and tipping with TIPS? or paying with bitcoin, tipping with TIPS?
After the dinner you will go to the shop, buy some wine with VinoCoin, crisps with CrispCoin, and condoms with CondomCoin.. Naturally, you want to watch a film later on, and you will pay for it in MovieCoin.. And after a long night when you wake up you'll go to the coffeeshop and get some coffee with CaffeineCoin.. Buy breakfast with BreakfastCoin.. end so on..
How many coins you need to have? how many exchanges you need to visit just to get all the coins you need for everyday needs? And how will you explain to your date, she can't have a red wine because you only have WhiteWineCoins..

General purpose Coin is needed badly in altcoin world. Soon bitcoin will be too valuable to have real world purpose, it will be commodity, and no sexshop will accept SexCoins as it will not be comfortable for customer to go over the counter and say: "can you please give me some sexcoins.. you know, I want to buy sex toys discretely.."

COIN is not aiming to be coin just for exchanges and speculation. Primarily a real world value coin, general purpose, with services online and brick and mortar.
There is hell lots of work to accomplish that goal, but it will be done.

Every one miner, every one trader, every service, and every holder of the COIN is important. Network is relying on all of them. Today network it's 5 days old, doing great.. looking forward to the future.

Start mining now, get yourself some COIN while is so easy to mine. Next logical step is exchanges followed by online services..

First of all thanks for a great coin. I am a small time miner, but I have tried to mine quite a lot of different cryptocurrencies over the last months and I must admit I liked the humble launch of this project.
But more important everything works, and it works really good. Wallet is syncing almost instantly, transactions processed fast, and p2pool works like a dream. I will keep on mining, please keep up the good work on your side.

You have been talking about a roadmap recently. Is it ready yet? I am very interested in seeing it.  :)

had no chance to get it polished, but here is mine general rough roadmap from my notes. will polish it with more details (most of the lines have additional explanations notes) (and more appealing look) and publish it in ANN post.

I'm happy how Coin is doing so far, it's a bit low hashrate, but it's just a week old coin. As you can see, milestone 1 is reached, so switching to milestone 2.
Milestone 2 will have lots of bounties and giveaways. Most of the things we can do by ourself (bounties related) but I thing it's important to engage community.
It's a quite long roadmap. Lots of time and for some things it will take years to reach. I believe this is healthy way. No rush, no hype, no hysteria.. Most of the coins started with hype, sunk very fast.. Will not let that happen to Coin as well.

This is the smoothest launch ever. Diff is going up slowly. This coin is not like others in this sense. No pump and dump, absolutelly different story. I am sure this coin will have a great future!

The whole damm story you have just told us is about nothing. You are talking about something which doesn't exist in Nature. It is just blah, blah, blah. Nobody is going to ruin COIN, nobody is interested in such outcome. You are talking about long-term market value, real-life usage of COIN and so on. But what is really done by now to achieve this purpose? Nothing. COIN is being mined by a small comunity. It is not exposed to the market. And that is it. If you think that holding COIN away from crypto community is a great idea just becuase you can solo mine thousands of COINs per day, then you do not understand that it is the right way to ruin the project. Nobody will be interested in a coin which has been mined for several months by a small comunity. We need 10x more miners in the next week. Miners are not fools (mostly and hopefully), they want to mine something valueable. We need an exposure to (at least) one BIG exchange. This doesn't mean that COIN will be pumped and dumped and doomed. This will just bring some interest to the project. Do not sell your coins cheap and everything will be fine. If you are afraid of exposing COIN to the market then you are sick, go to a doctor.

Vilgem you're funny :). SilentBit was posting his opinion in a very nice manner but your reply is personal. Unfortunately it is true that once a coin gets onto an exchange they get pumped and dumped. Some linger on for a while more, some end up better after the pump and dump then before, but a large majority of coins die. And OP has said since the beginning he doesn't want to bribe exchanges to get onto them.

Look at OP's road map. We're not at the milestone to get onto exchanges yet. If by any chance we get listed by them it's another story.

At the moment there are only a few people chatting in this thread. And I was the one who proposed to expose COIN to another exchange. Therefore I took his comment to my account. I agree with OP that pump & dump is not our goal. But more exposure is definitelly good thing. There is another issue that can burry a crypto coin. It is too much premine. If a coin is mined solely by a small group of people for too long, it can be considered as a premine. It is exactly what we must avoid. Therefore we need more miners, good hashrate. To attract more miners we need better exposure to the community. Most miners wanna have a possibility to sell their coins on a big and famous exchange. In that context a payment for the exposure is not a bribe - it is an investement. Crypto world has its own rules. You can not release a coin and wait until it becomes another Bitcoin. You must promote your coin to the community. Competition is high as there are so many new cryptos released per day. If every COIN miner will invest some money to promote the project it will help the project to survive and achieve its goals.

Almost every new crypto has a small amount of premine. Overwise it is impossible to promote new project. Some new cryptos have so called IPO - i.e. coins which are premied are sold for real money before coin launch. IMHO, it can be considered as a scam as the real coin value is unknown before coin launch. COIN did not have an IPO.

COIN is a young project. You can still solo mine COINs. Do not hesitate and join COIN community.

Hi vilgem, thanks for the enthusiasm. I can see you also like COIN, and the community that are quietly building. However I would like you to respect coin-project and the rules he set out from the start. To start posting addresses for cryptorush and suggesting us to pay was in my opinion to rush it too much. Let us try instead to market this coin to mining sites and try to get more miners without a big amount of exchanges. We must focus on the roadmap coin-project has created.  :)

More miners: YES! definitely, but here's the way I see it (biased, for sure, but still valid):

Criminal organization and individuals (yes, they're part of crypto world has well, like it or not :( ) - they convert to tangible assets as soon as possible (FIAT or other stuff); they simply don't care at all.
Enterprise-grade ASIC-based or large scale mining operations - it's a corporate game now; they'll convert to FIAT every time and as fast as they can; heavy bills to pay with FIAT and shareholders to please
Whales/Gigahashers - have high pressure from significant bills that have to be paid with FIAT and cannot sustain long periods of coin development, so they convert significant amounts of coin into FIAT frequently; most have rigs on multipools optimized for on-the-fly coin switch based on profitability and hop into new alt-coins when they see an opportunity; long term commitment is not always their first choice
*High Khashers and Megahashrers - have some pressure from power bills and must convert into FIAT from time to time; they direct a lot of hash power into the initial stages of new alt-coins, hoping to have chosen the right one; when the selected coin enters Exchanges, often don't resist the Bear trap and end up dumping the coin and move onto the next; difficult crowd to please and keep, but crucial to pass the development stages.
*Low Khashers - strive to do the best bet they can with the low hash power level they have available and need strong signs of sustainability from the chosen coin or they'll switch; if they don't make enough value to overcome the pending increase in power bills, may leave crypto for good after a few months or stick only to exchanges, becoming pump&dump surfers at best
no relevant hash power - wishing that pure PoS coins will one day rule :)

At this stage, COIN is still heavily dependent on the * segments and as such, if rushed into an exchange, will be a victim of Bear trap and Whales and may not survive.
Has with any business plan and real five activity, there's the need to adapt your tactics throughout the different maturity stages, without loosing sight of your strategy.
Not simple and not easy to do, but Coin-project did show us what it believed in from the start and I, regretfully, don't have an better alternative to propose :P

SlientBit, you see the picture right. But you vision is too general in my opinion. Good to write a book about the cryptocurrencies world, but not so good for practical applications. Number 1 goal for COIN is to attract more miners. We need to persuade them that COIN definitelly has a great future. Therefore we need some actions. What I really like in COIN is its acronym, it is simple and sounds like a standard for crypto payments. But COIN technical details are quite common: scrypt + KGW + 60 sec blocks + decreasing block reward over time. There are many existed cryptos with the same properties and many cryptos emerge every day. There is a competition like in any business. To survive you need to promote your ideas.

I think that scrypt algorithm sounds obsolete nowadays. N-factor scrypt is an evolution of standard scrypt and should have been used instead. I would have attract more miners from the beginning. But for now it is a dilemma. Scrypts ASICs will come to the market soon - it is only a matter of time. The question is whether it is good or bad for COIN. ASIC holders are investors. If they start to mine a coin it definitelly brings some fiat value to such coin. And it is good. But GPU holders will be dissapointed and will abandon such coin. So, they will move to N-factor scrypt coins. And it is bad.

Another feature that can attract miners and traders is PoS block generation. It motivates to mine/buy and hold coins. But PoS should not be introduced too early. If 90% of blocks are generated via PoS, miners will abandon such coin. If I were a developer I would think about such approach:

I went with no technical in innovations for simple reason. it works, it works well. Personaly N-type is not a good algo. It will change N and first gen ASIC will not be able to mine it. Second gen ASIC I believe will be able to mine N-type. As well, GPU will struggle with raised N. GPUs are struggling now with it.
I believe new GPU algo will take the trone. Miner software is pretty much obsolete and can't utilize new GPUs. There was some initiative to make new miner, but ended faster than it was proposed.

Changing N is quite simple though, and if N-type will show as a winner, a hard fork can be made. Every coin experienced a hard fork at least one time, even bitcoin.
We are now in present time, scrypt is best GPU algo, N-type is crippling GPUs at the moment and CPU coins is just not my bet..


I want to address to one of your previous posts, about miners and low diff.
COIN is on an exchange now. and it's not important for distribution how much coins miners can make as COIN is distributed trough exchanges as well.
Sure, more miners is better for distribution, but not so dark as you have wrote.


We need exposure.
Someone PMd me about a list of services we can approach. I think it is a good idea. We can start it, and contact it one by one about adding COIN.

Maybe you are right that scrypt is the best hashing algorithm for now. But what do you think about introducing PoS in a way I proposed in my previous post?! When PoW reward is decreased over time so will be the total interest to mine the coin. Introducing PoS is the best way to compesate it! I mean that three months later you can introduce PoS: 10% of blocks will be mined via PoS and 90% of blocks will be mined via PoW. As so on with every block reward adjustment over time.

I found some blocks solo, is the solo bounty still active?

If we wanna COIN to be exposed to a popular exchange we need to invest money anyway. Crypto Rush will cost us aboout 3 BTC in total. This should be enough to win the first position in their list. They list a new coin once per two days. If 30 participators will invest 0.1 BTC it should be enough to get in to the exchange. Or 15 participators 0.2 BTC each.

Another approach is to bribe paying COINs. Not the best approach as the bribed COINs will be selled by exchange owners very soon and it will afect the COIN exchange rate. Another problem is that the exchange owners may refuse to accept COINs.

But the fact is: we need to expose COIN to a couple of most poopular exchanges! As soon as possible.

What do you guys think about investing some amount of your BTCs to protect you COIN investements? The important thing is that we must agree on an exchange and invest smartly.

In my opinion getting listed at CoinMarketCap is a bigger move and bigger advantage than paying to get listed at the exchange.
CoinMarketCap is a go to site to check new coins with potential, new profitable coins and coins that are ready to take off in price. Just to move from that low volume list..

Guys, I guess we can do all of the above, so just ear me out, please:

Vilgem, can you take point on selecting/voting for an Exchange to through money at? If we can arrange for 25 supporters of COIN to pledge, I think it might be worth it, even if we get just a bit higher in the ranks. I'll be one, even though I still think it's too soon for a major exchange (you see, we still have a low number of mined coins and that makes dev's premine overly weighted - I don't see it as a problem, because our dev is clearly going for long-term, but exchange-only crypto players, and they are the majority, tend to not like such levels of advantage)

I still believe that we need to get listed on a popular exchange, it is important. Is it possible to introduce a bounty for those who pay 0.1 BTC to a voting address? It would be additional motivation. Like 25000 COINs for those who vote by 0.1 BTC. This would be equivalent to 0.000004 exchange rate, too high for now, but hopefully profitable in the long term. Moreover it would not be a selling deal, it would be a small compensation. What do you think about it?

I revisited your links to cryptorush, and there is something I am uncertain of. Will the votes (Both the voted ones and paid ones) be accumulated, or will they eventually be reset?

And I agree with you completely. We need more exchanges and more exposure. But I really, really, but you know -really- don't believe in paying to the exchange to list coins. I believe that exchanges need to profit on fees, not coins that need an exchange for pump and dump.  If we will do something like you are proposing, I'm against it and strongly discouraging it. What I can do is to allocate some marketing funds to you and close my eyes on how you are using the funds. but I say if..






and for this.. I'll happily allocate marketing funds toward this.. COIN need help to market itself, a lots of help. I'll appreciate and support any good plan, any good action, any good initiative to market the coin better.

Another thing... Hi vilgem, thanks for this. However I've the same view as SilentBit. Cryptsy, and most recently MintPal, are common exchanges for PnD IMO. I like MintPal (or rather, liked), but I've seen so many coins die there that it's getting sad. Here's my personal list which I feel will not only help COIN, but also help these exchanges:

Last night i leave my miner on that pool, and when i logged this morning i found that i have reach the maximum limit of pool threshold. My balance stopped at 7300++ coin and don't add up. Calculate wise i should have more than 20k Coin in balance since i have found 8 blocks on that pool. Can some one look up for this problem for me? It'll be a great help for other new miner as well if this problem is fixed.

You can vote for free at Crypto Rush too but the amount of votes you have somehow correlates with your tranding activity. New traders (just registered) have 0 votes there.
Your approach is quite good! We need to be sure the number of participants is enough before actually voting by our BTCs. Otherwise is would be just wasting of our money. I don't mind the exchange you proposed. We just need one more popular exchange to be exposed to.

But we can arrange a polling. @coin_project, can you please add a poll at the top of our thread with a question like this "Please mark 3 exchanges that you would like to see COIN to be listed in" (everyone can mark 3 exchanges). Dear @chiznitz, thank you for posting your message here. We will hopefully try to participate, but can you please describe how your random generator works?

I would propose an approach like: we take a hash of every 200th BTC block, use such and such function to convert this hash value to a floating point number [0..1]. Then we sort out participating coins alphabetically. Every participating coin is then adjusted an interval [a..b] which is proportional to the number of votes the coin has. Intervals go in order and the union of these intervals is [0..1]. If the found number is in a coin interval the coin wins.

If you use somethink like rnd() function to choose a winner then... You know, to convince people you have a really fair random system it should be organized in a way I proposed. It should be random, but everyone should be able to check proof the outcome. Noone knows the hash of the next block to be found. But once it is found everyone can check it. And it is random. As we know the rate of BTC block generation you can list a new coin pair when every 200th (for example) BTC block is found.

MintPal seems to be a good exchange but the price to get there is high too. It is ~10 BTC in total I think. And what is the most important they do not give any clue when they add coins to their list. They can add one coin every day/2 days/3 days/whatever they want. Therefore the total amount of investemts to get listed is really unknown! And the fact that they (I cite a quote from their website) "reserve the right to add new markets outside of the system where we feel necessary" sounds like an appeal to bribe which makes BTC votes even less valuable. I think MintPal is definitelly not the best choice unless they will accept a bribe in a reasonable amount of COINs. But as I mentioned earlier this can ruin COIN as the bribe will be sold very soon and this can potentially dump the exchange rate, so I mind it.

This is best time to start mining. A true potential and low diff. You can get metric ton of COIN even with 1 mh/s

We have a varying hashrate, I don't think that it is dropping, it is floating. I think to attract more miners we need:

1) Change our thread title. The fact that a crypto is being traded on an exchange (actually not the most famous one) doesn't attract people. Almost every crypto is traded on an exchange. We need something appealing and luring! Like:

I'd really argue on changing the title.

2) IMPORTANT. We need to post messages in this thread more frequently. When someone posts a message the thread goes up to the first position on its forum so that it can be noticed by other miners/inverstors who is reading and monitoring the forum. So, lets chat and discuss things.

First, I agree with vilgem - we should show some dynamics on thread title and come up with more attracting motos from time to time, demonstrating that things are moving around here. Emphasize that it's still quite easy to mine the hell out of COIN is a must - as I said before, we need more mined coin to help reduce the premine weight.

Second, let's try and give some extra incentive to those mining:

Coin-project and active pool ops, is there any way to map out the distribution amongst pools?

I've been on p2pool only and I'm still surprised how I can still do it with such low hash power - usually p2pools become useless to me after the first week, 'cause diff gets really high.
I'm still able to mine, per day, as much from the p2pool as I was in solo (solo boat has sailed now, diff to high)

If such mapping would be possible, then we could elaborate another miner-only round of bounty for those that are willing to hop-in, like we had in the beginning - dev really pump rewards back then :)
The mapping would allow coin-project to avoid concentration, by skewing bounty value towards a more uniform distribution of miners in pools.

Any other suggestions?

P2Pool vs MPOS Pool

which one is better to mine if i got low hashrate, let's say like 250~330 KH/s ???

right now i'm mining on P2Pool, but it looks like i'm getting fewer Coin than mining on MPOS Pool.

I would suggest to slow down giving away bonties at the moment. 1% premine is not that much and I think @coin-project has given away a lot by now. Pools must get used to get profit introducing fees. Pool owners should understand that the first pools will become standard pools in the future and they will profit long-term. Low diff is THE BEST BOUNTY for those who join COIN today and start mining.

cinming, don't have a good answer for you, but I can tell you this: p2pool has been paying me out close to 600 COIN per hour and my hashrate is about 630 Khs

Hi @cinming, nice to meet you here! If your hashrate is around 300 KH/s you will be able to find around 12 blocks per day. I think it is still good for solo mining but your earnings may not be smooth. The easy formula to calculate the estimated number of blocks is:

Nblocks = 0.02 * KHrate / Diff

where KHrate is you hash rate in KILO-hashes and Diff is the current network difficulty. You may check the current network difficulty in your wallet console by typing in getinfo command.

The block reward is 1000 now and for the next three months. So, to calculate your income just multiply the above formula by x1000:

PerDayIncome = 20 * KHrate / Diff

Keep this in mind!

You should get about 30 blocks per day if your cgminer shows you 630 KH/s. You should take an average into account. You won't have exactly 1.5 blocks every hour. But you should get ~100 blocks per 3 days. But if (when) Diff increases you will get less of course.

Please also add exchanges which are coming soon (see one of my prior posts).

We will be exporting the chances into a txt file, so if your coin has 100 chances you will see 100 lines with the word "COIN" on them.  We will then paste that list into the random list selection tool at random.org and we'll press randomize.  The coin that lands at spot 1 will be the winner.  Random.org has explanations of how they do their random selection, you can't really get any better than what they are already doing.  We've already tested live stream for this as well so hopefully that all goes well :), we'll post the link on the page soon

that's not a matter, every day there is ~1440 blocks so 1,440,000COIN newly minted regardless of hashrate. Bigger hashrate will help to distribute COIN better, even is distributed trough exchanges as well.

then they have a limit imposed on the number of lines - 10000. Total number of votes (for all coins) can reach millions. How you gonna solve this? And this approach is still not really public. There is no way to check proof the outcome. And there is no trusted 3rd party that can confirm the result. But thanks for your post anyway.

Good call on the 10,000 lines only.  We will be fine for this drawing but will have to figure out a better way when we're over 10,000 lines.  Also, I'm not sure what you are referring to about not public.  We will be streaming the selection live as stated many times.  What else can we do to make it more public besides broadcast a video of the selection while using a 3rd party site that has been around for over 10 years?

Not sure why you guys would want coinmarket.io.  They were offline for over a month and had very little PR there are threads all of btctalk about how they scammed people, they did update the other day saying what went wrong but it was only after people threatened the person who registerd the domain.

Working on some final tweaks on the site, can someone confirm for me do mined blocks fully confirm and mature at 30 confirmations? If so I will set confirmations down to 30.

In wallet, every mined coin or transaction shows as confirmed after the 30st confirmation - but you can play it safe and use a higher value, perhaps just not that high :)

However, I am a biased party ;D

I will agree with silentBit i think we should focus on mining, aim to sustain the coin not dumping the coin. attract new miners and hold on to our coins. i am suggesting we canvas for purchase of goods and services for this coin? what do you all think or is this still too premature ? i will like to see how i can help on this :) . instead of just getting this coin listed and create a hype then dump our holdings and pump and dump, its really meaningless. I love the way this coin is created without much hype and with a low supply of coins and i strongly believe we just need to pool out brains and resources together to make this coin a success. All of us are stakeholders, and to grow our value of stake here is to continue to grow this coin . just my ten cents worth guys, hope we can start something here :)

For starters, lets focus on 2 exchange first before going into other exchanges. I will suggest to CoinMarket.io that SHUXY and Vilgem have mentioned in their post and coined-up. wat do you all say ?? opening so many accounts in so many exchanges dilute our attention and too much time involved to track every exchange on the votes. I will recommend we all pool our attention to 1 or 2 exchanges before expanding to others.

We need one more popular exchange and that is it for the next several weeks. People have different opinions regarding the exchange to be chosen, therefore I suggested a poll.

A little off-topic. I've just calculated that one overclocked Radeon R9 290 (Core Clock 1000 MHz, Memory Clock 1500 MHz) consumes about 330 Watt. It is really huge. To calculate graphics card load I modified an extension cord with surge protector a bit. There is a special pliers like device which allows to measure amperage easy. It somehow utilizes the electric/magnetic field duality. You need one wire of your extension cord (no matter which one of two, but not ground of course) to pass through the device and the deivce will show you current amperage. Multiplying this value by voltage gives you current power consumption. The whole assembly looks like this:

If we ever go into actually spend some serious BTC, then it should be only once and we must have, at least, a fair chance of matching those BTC in market cap - not really sure if it's possible, though.

Edit: Something strange with this coin, I know some coins that "mature" do this with MPOS, it puts my liquid assets in the negative in between blocks confirming. It's very strange. It'll stop once the pool builds up enough Coin and has zero effect on payouts since what's locked for users is only what's available to them.

Otherwise the pool runs great, once you guys can't solo mine anymore, get in here!

I need your help on something. It is a community thing.
The mintpal exchange has a voting system that allows every registered user that has done minimum one trade, to place 5 votes pr. hour.
This mean YOU could potentially place 35 votes each day on COIN if you just manage to vote 7(x5) times a day. Voting is done really fast, you just press Vote outside COIN, and see the counter counts up. As mentioned you can do 5 times each hour.

Advantages:
- List is accumulating. It will not reset. Your votes will never be wasted.
- When we are in the top 10, we are exposed to lots of people every day. It is like an advertisement on their site.
- Eventually we can get listed on one of the top 5 exchanges.

We need to get started, and we need to do it, and we need to do it regularly.
I have started. I even paid 0.01 BTC to get COIN far away from the pathetic bottom position with 0 votes.
But this is not about paying it is about a commitment to COIN by voting, and doing regularly. I expect your participation.

Nevertheless, as long as it is free it can be used as a good test for how dedicated a community is to have their coin on the exchange. Hey, I've got a question for people here. Anyone use LiveCode? I'm pretty good with LiveCode, I was thinking about making up a sort of framework that can interface with *coin daemons and use the RPC. With that in place, tons of games (gambling) can be easily made up and ran with LiveCode server. Anyone know of any similar projects or is a LiveCoder?

In case anyone doesn't know of it, LiveCode is a descendent of the old school Macintosh's Hypercard, an extension of Hypercard's HyperTalk scripting language, but is completely cross platform thanks to RunRev. You can make stacks for the runtime program or even stand-alone executable apps that run in Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS. Pretty awesome, and VERY easy to learn.

I'm playing around with some stuff on a VM, trying to make a very simple web based betting game that lets you gamble coins.. Livecode may indeed have some potential for *coin projects!

Thanks, looked at that page earlier, too. Having trouble with my query string, how to structure it with username:pass in order to authenticate and pass a query. I'll figure it out, though. May actually adapt some pieces of MPOS to function as a wrapper anyway. The goal is to be able to make simple games work with any coin easily. It'd be cool to have a few games to gamble a few Coins on!

Let's say that on my average 250KH/s condition, that will be :
NBlocks = 0.02 * 250 / 0.64581773 (Difficulty i checked on 10.15 AM UTC +7 time) >>> 7.742122533551378 Blocks

As for the Per Day Income formula, i should have :
PerDayIncome = 20 * 250 / 0.64581773 >>> 7742.122533551378

based on above statistic, i should have mined more than 3500 Coin if i mine on P2Pool on 12 hours of mining since the diff is less lower. but i only manage to mine less than 1000 Coin that 12 hours. Not to mention the blocks i found (or it's my bad luck i don't hit on a block?)

NBlocks is the approximate number of blocks you will find on a daily basis (solo mining) if Diff will remain more or less stable. The both formulas work for me with some precision. If do not know much about P2Pools but what I heared is that you should mine for at least for 24 hours to start getting good shares. Blocks do not matter if you use P2Pool. You will get your shares based on your hashrate (total contribution to the network). If a node in P2Pool network finds a block it is shared by all P2Pool miners proportionally to their hashrate over some time period. PerDayIncode formula should give you estimated income value for any kind of mining (solo/P2Pool/MPOS). It will be working for the next several months until the block reward will be decreased to 900.

Fell asleap last nigh with laptop in my lap.. playing with LiveCode. Didn't used it before, it seams nice..

Trying to prepare COIN for services.. I'll have  a free weekend and we really need to get one more major exchange for services to be ready to accept COIN. Lots of exchanges now asking "votes", even major ones. We'll see what is  best option for us, and should make some kind of action plan for this new situation..

You need about 100000 votes to be chosen as a winner. Even if 20 people will EVERY DAY do 35 votes as you suggest it will take 5 months to get there. I'm afraid the only possibility to be listed in MintPal is to buy votes. But here is an interesting thing I noticed. At the moment PopulaceCoin (POC) (never heard about it) is on the first position with 70845 votes. I checked its BTC voting account - only 1.19919376 BTC were donated. It is equal to 11992 votes. Where the hell do another 70845 - 11992 = 58853 votes come from? Ordinary votes? Lets assume POC community does not sleep and vote 5 x 24 = 120 votes per person per day. This is 490 man-days. This is just IMPOSSIBLE. I think we should contact MintPal owners directly, probably there is "another possibility" to get COIN listed on their exchange.

You should find about 7-8 blocks daily. But this doesn't mean you will find such number of blocks. It can be 2-3. It can be 10-12. But if you take your monthly avarage it should give you 7-8 blocks. 250 KH/s is not really good for solo-mining with out current Diff. And I expect that Diff will increase significantly in a week (may be even less). It is steadily increasing. Did you try an MPOS pool? Guys, do we have an MPOS pool which provides at least 3 Mh/s of total hashrate?

My pool, at http://coin.fedaykin.us is an MPOS pool, right now we're running about 3.5MH. Why don't you give us a shot?

The only way to get in another exchange is to buy enought votes. It is kind of investing but I'd also call it giving a bribe. To start buying votes we need to know how many people are interested in COIN porject. Some people who support COIN are chating here, but I'm sure that there are those who prefer to keep silence :) We need to know how many people are ready to support COIN project at the moment. Please post +1 if you are mining/investing/ready to mine/ready to invest/ready to support/interested in COIN.

You are right. Then please create a poll we mentioned earlier. We need to choose an exchange anyway. I think we need to provide check boxes instgead of radio buttons so that people can select multiple items. We can ask them to select 3 but if there is no way to check it then let it be. Even if they select all items there is nothing bad. We will choose the one with the largest number of votes anyway. The important thing is that one can't choose the same item twise.

They do no provide any clue WHEN they choose the next coin from the list. It can be every day but it can also be every week. It stimulates people to pay them more and more to hold high positions. we have an issue with a wallet setting. @edric has already mentined it and now I can confirm it. You claim that 30 confimations are enough for a COIN to mature. I'm trying to install MPOS pool right now and I've encountered a payout issue if I set the number of required confirmations to 30. In MPOS logs I see:


MPOS terminal assumes it has 4000 coins. But wallet can confirm only 1000 of them. Others have just not matured yet. What is interesting is that the problem persists. Some time later I see in the log file:


which means that MPOS terminal will never be able to manke payouts as the number of assumed coins is always larger then the wallet can confirm.

What is the real number of transactions required for a coin to mature? What did you set this number to when you were compiling the wallet?!

The problem is that developers assume that:


returns total balance (confirmed + unconfirmed). But it turns out that it returns only confirmed (matured) balance. @edric can you please doblecheck it? Once you fix the bug you shouldn't have negative balance problems any more. Don't forget to fix it in two positions in the file.

Although I don't mind voting I think it is just a wasting of time. I personally do not like to play this mouse clicking-game which exchanges owners have prepared for me. Vircurex is one of the most popular exchanges. And now they do not allow to withdraw BTCs (, LTCs and some other alts) because of they personal problems which noone cares about. I was wondering why some alt rates went up yesterday (VTC for example). Now I understand the reason for this. People try to save their investements converting BTCs to whatever appropriate and withdraw their funds while it is still possible.

I disagree. It is not a waste of time. If everybody does some clicking on the exchanges from time to time we can move the counter and secure a good position in the queue on that exchange. Even if we pay/bribe to get on one exchange we should continue to place votes on the others for future use. Unfortunately as we have seen with Vircurex, exchanges come and go...

hmm. I think ive used every exchange except cryptsy.. when a coin gets listed there its usually a pump n dump and then swept under the rug. I prefer mintpal,poloniex. Alcurex should launch soon, maybe try to get on that exchange early as one of the first coins. It will also use USD>coin trading soon after launch.

I'm sorry I didn't see your post before. I've had that issue with some of my other pools for the same reason, right now my Tesla pool is running in the negative because of "immature" coins. As long as those coins that are setting the wallet back aren't already "locked for users" as in ready to pay out by the system, then it shouldn't hurt anything. It's a flaw in MPOS, well not really a flaw, MPOS is doing what it's supposed to, but some additional handling for coins that "mature" since they behave slightly differently would be helpful. Since you're seeing errors out of it, though, one possible reason could be that you at some point had set confirms below 30, then back up, that can throw it off. If it's in the negative value MORE than the amount of unconfirmed you have, then you have a problem and it's going to be throwing errors. Try making a new "account" under your coin daemon, and use "./coind move "" "newacct" 10" then back again.. where "" is your default account, I'm assuming you know this. Then run ./coind move "newacct" "" 10 and see if it evens out. I've had a couple of pools bug out on me a little bit and moving coins back and forth actually helped, your mileage may vary though. Sending coins to another address and back did not help the problem, but using the "move" feature did, and I cannot even begin to tell you why! If you're still having problems being in the negative, temporarily funnel your personal coins into the pool's wallet until you build up a fee buffer to negate it, but your pool's liquid assets will ALWAYS be missing whatever is in your unconfirmed, so keep that in mind! Example, you have 5000 unconfirmed, and 5000 in your liquid assets, your actual liquid assets is 10000! It doesn't matter how many confirmations you have it set to, it's going to do this until they "mature" because of the way MPOS handles it. I've been meaning to have a chat with them about this, and a few other things. I have one of my pools on the brink of death (not Coin - we're good!) because of misbehaving wallets not passing TXID's along and MPOS not picking up certain things, so I know, lol, I know...

I'll definitely have a look at that.. I was actually looking earlier at the setup page on the MPOS Wiki at https://github.com/MPOS/php-mpos/wiki/Config-Setup#payouts

I noticed there's supposed to be a setting for that but is absent in the config file of MPOS, even the latest version which I pulled today for reference. That may be why it's necessary to comment those lines. I don't know if that's an oversight, or what. I need to speak with the devs about it but it's always a madhouse on IRC. We definitely need to bring that to their attention.

Here's a heads up though, if you have more problems with your payouts, and run validate_payouts.php and see missing payouts, verify them before you go paying them manually because I've had issues with one of my wallets not returning TXID's to MPOS but paying out anyway, thereby creating an extremely ugly situation which may ultimately ruin one of my pools. So keep an eye on failed payouts. If they stack up on you, god help you.

I think I'm not going to maintain a production pool anyway. I've created one for myself to play around. I'll probably share its address with several people but won't be able to maintain it when COIN community grows up. DDoS attacks are definitely not what I want to deal with in the near future :)

As I mentioned, Vircurex is having big troubles and its future is unclear. I haven't received any feedback from Coined-Up, so it is out. MintPal is too expansive to get in.

We have an opportunity to get in CryptoALTeX cheap but it is not very popular and common yet. I think, @coin-project SHOULD contact them directly and negotiate the things. Meanwhile I'll also try to PM @chiznitz.

We may consider a possibility to get in Crypto Rush as I proposed a week ago. They will choose a new coin in 14 hours. We need appx. 10000 - 15000 votes. It is equal to 1 - 1.5 BTCs.

COIN is already listed for voting and has 140+ votes. We will compete with Titanium (TTN) community. It was released appx. a week ago and has appx. 8500 votes at the moment.

Anyone can do a concentration analysis on COIN (wealth/address ?) I know it's not exactly the correct distribution (anyone can have a lot of addresses), but it's the possible one, given the anonymity and design of crypto currencies

I do not think that once COIN gets into a popular exchange everyone who holds much COINs will sell them all at once. It would be very stupid. Actually I do not expect pump & dump at all. The exposure will bring some additional attention to the project and we will have another move forward.

So, what about trying to get into Crypto Rush (or CryptoALTeX)? Are you guys going to invest something? 0.1 BTCs is not much at all if you have bought/mined enough COINs and believe in the great project future. Investing BTCs now will bright some real world value to COINs and would even help you to avoid the temptation to pump & dump COIN once it gets into a popular exchange.

For those of you generating mega hashes per second on the COIN network I ought to repeat a question you all try to avoid. Are you brave enough to invest some funds to protect your capital on the long run? We need to get an exposure to a popular exchange. Can we raise some money?

The dev already stated if asics become a problem, COIN will be hard-forked into a different algo, like scrypt-N or X11 or whatever :)

For me, that's about the best plan we can have, but that's just an opinion, of course.

I used to thought the same way. But now I have changed my mind. Bitcoin is sha256-based and it is the most safest crypto currency on the market. Different alts come and go but Bitcoin is like a safe harbor for your investments. In fact ASICs helped Bitcoin to survive and to acquire its value. It happened because real investors with huge capitals entered the market.

Hashing algorithms themselves do not determine the real value of a crypto currency. Only real investments do. When scrypt-based ASICs one day come, their total mining power will be shared among different scrypt-based alts, not only Litecoin. But ASIC-holders are investors. If they choose to mine a coin it already brings some real value to such coin. GPU-holders are  mostly ordinary gamers. They mine for fun. ASIC-resistance in such context is not good at all. It will keep real capital away from such coin at least in terms of mining investments.

So it turns out that there is a trade-off between ASIC-resistance and real business involvement. You never know what is better (ASIC-resistance or ASIC-friendliness), but it is a minor question anyway. What is much more important is coin philosophy and its community.
