Title: How safe is it to put everything in one cryptocurrency?
Post by: Nait500vail on October 19, 2018, 05:40:22 PM
I've been thinking a lot about this issue. I heard more than once that many are discussing this topic. Is it safe to invest everything in one, two cryptocurrencies? Or to distribute all the money in all the coins available for this amount?

Only all in if you know what you're doing and even then it's probably a bad idea.

For me, I don't thibk that it is safe to put all of your money to one coin because we all know that market today isn't in good situation and it is not stable. We might end up loosing all of our money if we put it only in one coin. We must know how to handle things and how we can strategize our money in order to grow and earn in good and fast way.

Alright, I think it depends on your choice because in trading ups and downs are very common. To safeguard ourself we need to research on our rather than trusting others.

In fact, value is still affected over time. hard to break. Most of all, the volatility of the market is parallel to this ecosystem. that is the source of life and the attraction of the market. As the majority of people here encourage diversification and it will limit the risk of investment, balancing funds at times. You should diversify your funds.

It is pretty risky because there are many cryptocurrencies designed for same thing (substitute for currency, smart contract platform, decentralized exchange ...) I would recommend to spread your investment to more then one cryptocurrency to keep risk to minimum.

I would recommend to have few currencies that are designed for currency (BTC, LTC ...) and few that are designed to be smart contract platform (ETH, NEO, EOS ...)

In the end it is your choice where and how much you want to invest but personally i think you should diversify in atleast 4 to 5 coins, investing all your money posses higher risk if there is some negative event fundamentally you can face big loss, so i recommend to diversify.

Crypto currency investment not safe at all so if you invest all your money in one you have higher chance for losing your money so you don't have to do that. But also not all the crypto currencies were worth to invest since we have 1800 crypto currencies with value fr now but in few years these coins will extinct other than the potential one so you need to invest on the best one for your safety.

Never a good idea for an individual to put everything into one basket in cryptocurrency; as this can be devastating and detrimental. Safest way which is ethical in cryptocurrency is diversification of portfolio than operating on a single portfolio.

I think this is really a bad idea because if you invest in just one coin (even if this coin is BITCOIN) you have major risk that a problem that this coin has will make fall price of that coin even if market is bullish.  I think you should invest in at least 4-5 coins in order to have a good diversified portfolio and reduce standard deviation

I think that today there is a good chance to develop your cryptocurrency business. Increase your portfolio with more profitable and new coins, which are in a low price position due to market conditions. Definitely in the near future you can earn a good income thanks to this. You need to direct your investment in at least 10 directions of coins.

It depends on your trading style and skills. If you are not accustomed to place everything on one cryptocurrency and not have the experience of doing so, it is unlikely that yo will be able to handle the situation if it goes downtown, and so you should not go for it. However, it is safe for you to put everything on one coin if you know what you are doing and how exactly you have to get out of the situation if it goes against you.

In my opinion, the decision will be in yourself. By chance or risk is also you enjoy. But the cryptographic market is constantly changing and this market will have continuous surprises. Therefore, diversification of investment will be a better option. There may be 5-6 electronic coins at the same time.

Do you have a comparison to the question you asked? like banks, gold, gems, or other investment tools?

if you have a comparison then you will know if investing in crypto currencies is very risky, especially if it is only stored in one type of Kropto currency. the risk of your loss will be very large

OP must consider about the volatility in the crypto before he wants to put all of his life in the crypto. Remember there was a lot of examples about people are loosing a lot due to the bearish trend. that's why OP must consider about all of possibility dude.
It's much better to put all of things in the major crypto rather than small crypto.

Sure, there are a lot of times this topic already discussed. I think you put all the money in one and two or more currencies whatever it's not full safe.
If you interested go to this plan but you have to more risk even initial money trigger into half or less in any stage. I think you shouldn't play this game with big amount.

its safe to put it in different coins but pick the ones with the ones to can potentially make you rich and trade with it to accumulate. that would be harder though. but if you aren't into it just hold. coins with huge volume are the ones you can be sure of. you'd be surprise they are the ones with vales less than a dollar.

I think it's risky to put everything in one cryptocurrency. But if you choose top 10 cryptocurrency then I don't think so it is risky. But put all money in one cryptocurrency at the same time is not a good idea. You could devided your capital in few parts and then then you start investing in monthly way. Each month you could invest few parts of your capital in the specific cryptocurrency. That way you could cover your loss if the price going down. But you really decided to put everything in one cryptocurrency then be careful before choosing the right cryptocurrency and research all details before investing. I think top 10 or top 20 cryptocurrency is good choices for investment.

there is nothing safe if you put all your money in just one crypto, your potential is to lose your money because of the bad market.
Never keep all your finances in one basket, if you experience losses you still have hope in the other coins.

When you want to put only one coin for investment for all of your fund,.it is good to get the coin that has potential on the market and your are willing to take long term and ready to take all risk. Many are advising to diversify investment to secure and make safe your funds because different coin has different potential and different time when to increase the price but if you want to take only one, you have to take more potential coin and be patient.

the risk of investing in cryptocurrencies is a security factor if cryptocurrencies have been recognized all over the world as a valid currency, of course security can be guaranteed for now, only our own security guarantees make it

To place your investments in one place is always a bad idea, not only in the cryptocurrency market. Moreover, the main feature of the crypto market is more volatile , ie the possibility to obtain a large and quick profit and quickly lose their investment . Therefore, I advise to spread your investments in multiple crypto coins , be sure after reading about them before.

This is a very bad idea to invest everything in one cryptocurrency. During the whole existence of cryptocurrencies, we can conclude that cryptocurrencies have always been volatile. Therefore, having invested all my funds in 1 cryptocurrency, the probability of losing all of my savings is very high. My strategy is 50% in Bitcoin, the rest 50% in perspective altcoins.

IMHO, that is totally unsafe, cause we can't really know the future of the coins that hold all our fortune. Cause in cryptocurrency everything can flip upside down in an instant, so having a backup in several cryptocurrency would be the best decision to make.

Definitely too risky 8). You should not even consider such a thing. Putting all of your money into anything is a bad option.
I have been talking about how we should improve our portfolio by not just getting bitcoin and other crypto currencies but also getting into stuff like stock markets and so forth so we could definitely increase the security of our portfolio because having one thing really hurts it.

Right now, having just one crypto currency is exactly the opposite of what I have been saying for all these time, I would suggest not only having 10+ coins in your portfolio I also suggest having 10+ stocks and a small number of gold divided equally. That way you can have one bad day on one of them but get better on others and so forth for years and in the end you will be the one who will profit from less risky moves.

It's usually recommended to keep your funds in different coins. If on one of them you lose due to price drop, then the other/others may override these losses.
Holding everything in one coin makes sense when you have reliable information about its rapid growth.

Title: Re: How safe is it to put everything in one cryptocurrency?
Post by: pawanjain on October 21, 2018, 03:25:46 PM
It is not at all recommended to put all your savings in to just one asset. The experts say to diversify your investment on to various assets so that when the price drops, not all of your assets go down in value.
You might have heard of the phrase " Don't put all your eggs in one basket" applies well here. If you put all of your investment in one asset you might end up loosing a significant portion of your investment if that asset crashes in price. So that's a very risky thing to do.

because if you put in 3-5 coin maybe not all your coin the price down so you can still take profit.

And to keep, say, a part in Bitcoin and Ethereum, and a part to invest in a couple of promising coins.

Decisions regarding investing in cryptocurrency or any at that matter business has it's own risks involved. If you're looking to invest into just one make sure to do research into what it is you're investing in is good or not as you won't be making profits over night, this is a long investment game and even so, you have to be careful about how much of it you're investing into as with the market you never know anything for sure.

It is not safe to invest all your money in to single cryptocurrency because it's too risky. You should at least Invest 40/60 of your total capital in to a coin, but I don't suggest going all in to a coin because anything can happen in the market.

It is not recommended to use all the money in crypto money trading or to use all the money in ICO investment by most investors. Deploying money to different investment instruments serves to create a balance of profit and loss. Nothing is completely safe. Personal error or stock market security can make you feel headache.

It is not at all safe. This is not at all recommended by any of the experts as well.Putting all your currencies in one coin is like putting your life in that coin hoping that this will do good and if it doesn't than you don't even get a chance to even stabilize your self which is foolish as you must have PLAN B if PLAN A is not working.

Hi there!

In ny opinion you should always devide your investment in multiple projects.

This way you wont loose all your money at once.
Maybe the project you like is a scam and all your money is gone, not a good idea.
Do your research and find 3-4 projects you like and devide your investment to those.
If one stands still switch to another befor it gets dumped.

Greetings! 8)

I think this is not a good idea. Investing all money in one cryoto is very risky. You should invest in different coin/token. If you loss your money in one project the another one will help you to recover it. I will recommend you to invest partially in top 20 crypto from CMC.
I completely agree with you, because it really is a blade to keep all your investments in one or two coins. It is better to direct all of your assets to the Top 10 of the Coinport cap rating.

distribute all the money in all the coins method is the safe choice I guess except Bitcoin. You can invest all money to bitcoin that is the dominator coin. We can invest to just bitcoin or you can split your money other coins. You can choose EOS NEO TRON Ethereum and Bitcoin that are the great choices for me.

How risky it is to put all your money into a single project that can fail and drop its value significantly/to an absolute zero within a few seconds? Does not seem like a safe plan. You have to consider how much money do you want to invest: if it is just for "fun" and some experimenting- feel free to do the craziest things that you can imagine. I doubt that anyone would choose this way if they would like to make some profit out of it.

No it is not totally safe to put your money all in the cryptocurrency. There are many risks when putting it on this ecosystem. Because it can be a target to possible scam attacks, or even worst the coin that you turn from your physical money got negative price, turns your investment to a bubble that is bursting.

Spread it around a little.  If you are going to only invest in a single coin make it Bitcoin.  At least that way you get the benefit of getting the coins from any future forks.  But even then that's a risk.

I can say that would be totally un safe. Because if that crypto that you invest on are failing, then you'll be loosing everything. You need to spread your fund into several crypto, in order to make balance on your income and as a safety precaution.

No it is not totally safe to put your money all in the cryptocurrency. There are many risks when putting it on this ecosystem. Because it can be a target to possible scam attacks, or even worst the coin that you turn from your physical money got negative price, turns your investment to a bubble that is bursting.
hackers now attracted in cryptocurrency market since its price exspensive and exchange wallet vurnable  to attack.so its not secure for us if we put all of our money on cryptocurrency market.

Better put not only one crypto but another potential crypto, because we don't know what will happens with our chosen crypto. If this crypto got a bad news, of course it will affect the price and you will lose all of your money...

If you follow my advice, if one crypto you have chosen falling you still have another crypto as backup...

would look great in the only crypto invested ride height. However, to be able to get a fairly high rise with crypto will be difficult because many existing cryptos has potential that is quite the same. give all to a single crypto will give a huge risk because prices are falling it will lose considerable capital it will definitely happen.

Having a single option is always been a bad idea because why choose one when you can have many?

Using the ALL IN strategy is applicable for a coin that you have 100% profit but if not, then consider DIVERSIFICATION for this you may take 3-5 different coins that in your view has a potentialsnd may bring you gain in time,i have been using this for long and i can tell you that this is more than assured than single investing

Store in one currency more risky to lost your funds, but if it strong crypto with longlife time this risks minimal.

I'd diversify into at least 5+ cryptos. Nothing is certain in this market and even top 10 coins have the potential to be worth nothing.

That could goes 50:50, what i mean is there is 50% chance you get a good profit out of it, and 50% broke due to the project failing.
I suggest you spread your fund into several project/coins, that would be safer.

You should always have a sets of plans, so in case that the first investment that you did failed you, better to have another options, but in somehow you really did trusted the project and you have a good insight that things would really turned into a positive side, then you can invest all in without any doubts, it's all about how well you understand and how your own assessment push you.

Investing in only one coin presents a higher risk than investing in multiple coins. Inveating in multiple coins is not safe either but there are more options in terms of price growth or fall.

It is possible and in one, only you must have confidence that you will not lose your capital with this coin, but will receive a profit. The maximum number of such coins is ten, the rest are not suitable for such tactics.

I prefer to diversify it into three, it's risky if you put all your eggs in one basket, also, it is not recommendable to divide it into many coins because that would lower down your profits because initial amount of investments would narrow. Diversify it into three coins, maybe get a part on bitcoin and for those two could be a low cap coin, the reason is bitcoin is traded on most of the cryptocurrencies and more stable unlike the others so you could trade it against those two low cap coins that you hold.

I would say if its only bitcoin, yes.
But if you'll invest to only one altcoin, I don't think that's a good choice.
They say diversify, yes that's fine but choose only the finest coins.

I would say it depends on you as an individual and what you are holding. I have known a lot of people who really do not fancy altcoins at all and just prefer to leave all their investments in bitcoin, knowing that altcoins are just some form of distractions as the case may be.

Sure, a lot of people will talk about diversification, but if you really want to be diversifying, you should be going outside cryptocurrency and maybe into stocks or thereabout. Within cryptocurrency itself, it totally depends on what you are comfortable with but if I am to answer the question, it is not safe to be putting only your funds in altcoins.

I agree...maybe it's late for being early adopters of bitcoin but It's not too late for others coins...there is a good dose of luck of course, but you must always do your own researches...for example watch Elicoin in livecoinwatch , is not an ICO or bounty... it's a coin with low mc, low supply, PoW whit cpu, no premine, active dev...only trading it on CREX24 for now...do you own researches in the thread in bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3028302.0..I bought them 2 months ago and if you watch it in livecoinwatch you know why now I laugh very loud Smiley people are too stupid for DYOR and got scammed by ICO or bounty...just my 2 cents...hope it helps...cheers

the focus in one or two cryptos in a large amount of capital will be able to provide pretty big results when it experienced a rise in value. clearly at high risk only because it is currently experiencing a price drop far enough then the harm is obtained is also not a bit. at least if the safe may have some coins to invest just in case looking for coins that could be having an increase.

Well, that is something that would depend on the currency you are holding.
If not for recently that I just decided to be holding pretty few altcoins at least, to some little bit of amount in some of them, I have never really considered altcoins as an option due to their pump and dump trend and to me, when it comes to long term hold, except for few of them, they are really not that something you will want to be putting all your mind into.

Unlike bitcoin, this is a market that has been in an uptrend right from the onset, and I want to believe this is one market I am so certain no matter how long you want to hold, you won't regret it. Not like I do not like the idea of altcoins, but at least, you can still be putting your funds in a market such as bitcoin and forgetting the rest.

Don't put your all funds to one coin, just split them. I suggest you to split to top 50 coin on CMC and use Money Management as well.
For example you have $1000, then you buy 10 coins like btc, eth, xrp, and etc with $100 each other, so you have many chance to get profit.

there are two things that are certain about that,
1. if the coin price falls, then you will lose a large amount
2. If the coin price rises, your profit will rise dramatically

the point is, saving assets in 1-3 coins has a very high risk. but it's better not to do it. if it is forced, the best thing is to invest in the amount of 100 - $ 250 in total. So if you have $100, put ~ $33 in each coin  :)

No it is not safe to put and depend on one crypto currency because the market will not be stable all the time there will be Profit and loss in the market. So better invest in multiple coins and research the top 5 coins in the market and explore the recent status of these coins, analyse and invest in top coins.

Keep in mind that cryptocurrency is so young that every coin here is a candidate of having no value in the future. The technology backing up these coins is not yet fully maximize so every thing here can change drastically.

The diversity is very good besides to reduce risk also provides greater benefits. I agree to do that rather than just choose 1 crypto only. of course it will be very risky if crypto crashes then your wealth will go down very deep? but five projects are too excessive in my opinion. just use 2-3 coins to be more focused

Imagine putting all eggs in one basket or tray. If you are carrying it with you and you suddenly stumble down, the eggs in the basket will all be broken. Think of the eggs as your money. You invest all of it in one cryptocurrency and then it suddenly dive to the bottom of the ocean. Your investment will be lost.

I've been thinking a lot about this issue. I heard more than once that many are discussing this topic. Is it safe to invest everything in one, two cryptocurrencies? Or to distribute all the money in all the coins available for this amount?

Its NOT SAFE to put all your money in cryptocurrencies itself. I am not just talking about 1 or 2 cryptocurrencies but I am talking about the entire crypto space.
The basic fundamental of financial investments says diversification, never put all your money in one financial instrument, diversify it. If you believe in crypto more, put a bigger part of your investment in crypto, but never go all IN.
Alongside crypto, invest in real estate, gold, bonds, stocks and where you can. This eventually safeguards you from uncertainity and complete fall.

I am not writing this because I am against crypto, I even have 40% of my investment funds in crypto myself, but again, you can never be certain in only 1 financial instrument.

It is not safe to use all the money even if you buy all the coins in the coinmarketcap because you don't know when the coins will rise. My suggestion is you need to search which coins that will increase by analyzing every coin especially for the coin which is on the top twenty list in the coinmarketcap. After that, you need to decide how much the money to buy that coin, don't distribute a big amount of money in one coin but diversify in many coins will be good because you will have a big chance to make a profit in many coins.

I used to do this and not profitable. even as the only invest in one or two coins alone would suffer losses when it experienced a decline. better put in a couple of enough crypto has potential as a net to get a feel for the crypto will increase because it will never know which one will be riding high.

no one can confirm and give you a guarantee for that, all you have to do is research and analyze it
investment in the crypto industry has a comparable risk, and if you want to buy, this is when you buy for one or two altcoins. the choice is on bitcoin or ethereum and eos. so specify your choice

If you invest in Bitcoin and Ether, then it’s safe to keep all the money in these coins only-it is safe, but if you are considering any other coins, then we need to know about what you are saying. You need to invest your money only in potential  coins, wich can to  development and growth . And if you are not sure of your decision, it is better to buy Bitcoin and Ether.

Yes you can invest just in one coin but what will happens if this coin be scamed or delisted from the exchange of just be dumped, all your depo will reduce. That's why there is a concept of risk and money management. It is too obvious to explain I think.

It would be a huge mistake to invest all your money in a single investment tool, because it is not economically correct and is irrational. All the eggs in a single basket instead of carrying in a variety of baskets, such as how to move eggs in a better option for the safety of this rule should pay attention to your investment and to protect your budget to the highest level.

In this market, portfolio investment is the best choice. Don't put all your money into one coin, it will be very dangerous.  Even if you choose Bitcoin, you should consider your investment horizon, unless you plan to invest for a long time (at least 2 years), otherwise do not do this

If that currency is Bitcoin (https://coincodex.com/crypto/bitcoin/) than yes. If it's a shitcoin than no :) It's always good to diversify and keep at least 50% of your holdings in top cryptocurrencies.

Everyone has the right to choose how to dispose of their money . If you want to invest in one or two coins, this is only your decision. But you must remember that you risk losing everything in one moment. If you are confident in this coin, then this is another conversation. But you can not be sure of anything unfortunately

I think everyone's decisions are different, but if for myself if the coin development is more promising in the next year, I decide to fully invest in this field with all the risks I have to be prepared.

You will only invest to that coin if you see a good development? Thats a good step of choosing whay coin to invest. Im diversify my investments but Im only choose the best coins. And with this, I wont diversify too much because depending on the marker condition. Theres a time that its fine to stick to bitcoin only when alt market tanks.

How that can be late for being an early adopter? the early adopters are the once that has all the advantage at this moment.

I don't think that example of yours is really an example but you are an emphasizing it so people would see what you are advertising. And you are saying that everyone should conduct research but why is it that you are saying we are all stupid when we've got scammed? how about they are still lack of knowledge and research with that?

Exactly, the old adage, "invest what you can afford to lose" is very applicable. But if I wanted to choose just one coin, then its better to put it in Bitcoin. Higher returns plus there's still enjoy the support of this community and its growing every year.

Alts is good but majority of them are simply there to be a pump-and-dump scheme so just be careful of your investments in the alt market.

This is a simple principle and if you don't understand it you shouldn't make any investment

As a matter of fact, it is not safe. Diversification is very important when it comes to investment, because you never can tell  which will yield the desired result. Even if they will all be productive or successful, the level of success cannot be the same.

investing in one or two cryptos might be good enough for the long term. but when this to trade would be a hard thing when crypto crashed the price. the results obtained could certainly large enough capital because of the focus to one or two cryptos only. the risk is obvious when the loss will be felt once the falling value but for the long term, it is likely it could be covered.

Any investment adviser will tell you putting all your eggs in one basket is very risky and would make it very easy to lose your entire investment. But what they won't tell you is that the highest possible rate of return can only be accomplished by investing in a single asset, you just have to make sure it is the one that will outperform all the others.

It is not the safest thing for you to put all of your money into cryptocurrencies. you have to know that there is always the threat of being hacked and then again there is also the problem of the coins being very volatile which means your coins can lose a lot of value in a short amount of time. The only money you should be putting in cryptocurrencies is money you are willing to lose to investments

What's is most important is that you follow basic investment wisdom which is not to invest more than you can lose.

You have to be reactive about altcoins where you only need to trust Bitcoin for the biggest asset nominal. Entrust altcoin for futures trading and choose 3 altcoins that you think are best for long-term price continuity, so there are 3 types of assets that you have to measure according to your ability to store the best assets, and the last type is only used for short-term trading purposes.

I'm not saying 100% because there are always exceptions to things.

since investment isn't so cut and dry, it takes a diverse range of assets (all rising and falling in value) to come ahead in the long term.
The same goes for crypto, especially since the market is so volatile.
There are many who dream of making one big trade and being able to retire, this just does not reflect reality.

I suppose though, that if you would choose just one to invest in, it would actually be good ol' plain BTC.
the reason is simple, it is the only coin that you can readily liquidate (meaning sell it for cash).
In fact, when you think about it, isn't the whole goal just to get more btc?
Until another coin is just as easily liquidible (eth is getting there) there isn't any other option.

I also hold a few coins, but everything is near the BTC to quickly exchange and liquidate. Cryptocurrency isn't only very volatile, it can be easily stolen by fraudsters. Therefore, I can't risk it to put all the money in one basket.

I think it’s never worth to keep your everything into one crypto currency as we all should know that these crypto currencies are still decentralised one and thus there is no proper authentic regulating body over these crypto currencies so you are the biggest foolish if you are relying 💯 on these crypto currencies as governments can illegalise them anytime so it is never be so wise to invest your everything into one crypto currency if you want to invest then wait for to get centralised all over the world.

An old saying goes: never lay your eggs in one basket. Therefore, the best strategy is the diversification of investments. Of course you can and should keep more money in those cryptos that you trust, but investing in a single crypto is very risky, just like investing in the crypto market and in no other market.

That’s right it’s never safe to go all in on one coin it’s better to diversify portfolio. But it’s youre choice as long as you know what you are doing but always think how big the risk is. Dividing investment is always the best choice because the risk will be minimize.

Yes it is safe to put your money with 1-2 cryptocurrency.

This is even profitable if those coins are bitcoin, Ethereum or any coin that's on the top. I'll choose to have a little holding with these coins than to diversify it with useless coins.

It actually depends on what you meant by putting all your money, do you mean your life savings? Or just putting a certain amount of your lifes savings to one or two cryptocurrencies? If its the latter then there is nothing wrong all you need to do is to research very extensively on the said coin before investing. But as for me i am a man of diverse portfolio so i believe in investing on multiple coins than putting all my eggs in one basket or two.

Its safe to put everything on bitcoin or ethereum, but that's not the point. Im not saying you should go FOMO but that way you will really miss many good investment opportunities. I wouldnt like to shill, but definitely would diversify in Iota, xrp, xrm, zec, eos, 0x, Pundix not to be safe, more to not miss opportunity.

This is one of the worst mistakes anyone can make. It is certainly not advisable to lump all your holdings into one crypto asset. Just like with every investment in life, no sensible investor will want his/her funds tied down when they can easily use the same funds for other businesses. As a trader, it is advisable to diversify your portfolio with the intentions of cashing in should any of your investments yield reasonable amount.

I strongly believe in diversification so I would diversify my investments. Profits may be very small but it is mostly better than depending on one or two coins/tokens. Diversifying one’s investments reduces the risk.

Well, for me I think do not put all of your investment in one, you need to divide it so that if one investment did not succed at least you have another to continue earning and you can not be broke. Most people think that if you invest all of your money it will immediately pay you back but its not still there has a risk so you better think some strategy to do it.

in my opinion do not put all existing funds into one cryptocurrency because is very risky so just try to divide it into several altcoin to reduce the risk, but if you are sure 100% that altcoin is the best I think it doesn't hurt to play all in even though high risk but you will get a big profit, so the decision is in your hands

Diversifying investment is most advisable for more chances of gaining than losing but you have to make sure that you choose the potential coin on the market which is good on trading or even long term holding, that will reduce the risk. Putting in one coin takes high risk, dont do that because the more you want immediate profit sometimes fail and make you lose more.

If you have learned enough about certain cryptocurrency and you feel you know it well, then it's better to invest in the one you believe in. But if you don't know much about the difference between coins, it would be better to keep a small amount of different coins in your portfolio.

It is not safe to put everything in just one cryptocurrency, even if it have a good potential. The price is volatile, and there is a high level of instability in the crypto market. So the safest method is investing in diversified cryptocurrencies to make your profit larger, and reducing the risks of losing.

We can spread our funds into different coins but it is not good to go for more coins which couldn't be manage well. We need to manage them so prevent by losing as we are in high volatility market.
Yes, I've agreed putting our money in a single coins may give us a less profit but if you'll go for Bitcoin alone you can still have a secured profit.

Stick to the principle of diversification!! If you must stay safe that principle would be your best guard! Have you ever thought of the "supposed impossible possibility"??? One where you have hope and believe that this coin/token or that other one will stay unshakened and then you wake up 10 minutes after your first thought to discover that the coin/token is no more!! This is one reason why you should never put all your eggs in one basket! It is the worst mistake anyone would ever make particularly in crypto!! Be guided

The main rule for investing is to invest what is ready to lose and never put all your eggs in one basket , to reduce the risk of losing their investment. The hallmark of the crypto market is more volatility , which gives the opportunity to get a good profit in a short period of time , but carries a large risk of loss . Therefore, carefully choose coins for investment and your investment portfolio should not consist of the same coin.

My one cent opinion on the above topic question is this, to be direct and frank, investment into one crypto currency compared to two or more spread investment have the same Risk factors when it come to investment, we may lost or gain at the same time on the investment into crypto currency market dependent on the market movement of such coin as posted in the market trading, again, it is individual preference whether to invest on one crypto or more?

It is not really the best thing to do in a cryptocurrency. The way you hold the money in only one cryptocurrency rather than distributing it others. What will happen if the price of that crypto suddly falls down? It may be a disaster though, if you distribute your money in many crypto it will be safer.

It depends on you and the current situation also, depends on you of how you choose a coin/s that you think that if you invest on it, you can gain a good profit. But if you put everything in just one coin, i think that's not a good idea. Just pick the top and most listed coins to invest.

I've been thinking a lot about this issue. I heard more than once that many are discussing this topic. Is it safe to invest everything in one, two cryptocurrencies? Or to distribute all the money in all the coins available for this amount?

It depends on the value that you have. I normally pick 3 to 6 coins/tokens so I can focus on these projects.
It also is prudent to read news daily as everything moves fast in the crypto space.

It all depends on that coin or token. I think it would be better to at least diversify into between 2-10 bags of different sizes and risk if you are looking to hold long term that is. I do not think it is very wise to just sit on one token or coin and hope in the rise of that token. Right now the market is manipulated a lot as well by the day traders, whales and bit institutions, so it looks like you will have to wait a very long time before you see any good in the markets.

At least 2 platform coins, bitcoin and ethereum, if you have really decided to put your eggs in 2 baskets at least.
If you have lots of funds, in terms of value, max allocation of 5 platforms/coins.

Both concentrated investment and diversified investment have different strengths and weaknesses. This needs to be decided according to your situation. If you have confidence in purchasing crypto, you can get a high return by focusing on investment, but it may also cause you to quickly lose property when the crypto crashes!

It is not safe to put all in one crypto currency, so make a diversification in your portfolio to avoid such thing.
I would advise you to hold at least 50 % in liquid crypto and another part to split between some potential altcoins.

It seems to me that storing all your money in one or two currencies is very silly. It would be more reasonable to buy a lot of promising, in your opinion, coins, and some of them in any case will give you a profit.

Experience have taught me never to put all in one cryptocurrency, Infact it is deadly put all one has in cryptocurrencies without considering alternative investments. Except for experienced traders who are sure of making good trades and profit. The ideal way is just to spread your investment in several good crypto projects, coins, ICO's, newly launched coins etc, after making careful research with a convincing result

It's not a safe and bad idea, people have proven that time and time again, you can lose all your investment even if you are investing on a top coin because all coins are subject to manipulation and speculation, we have seen that from people entering at $20000 level thinking it will even double.

Since you've mentioned the word "everything", I think it's worth reminding that you shouldn't invest money which you may need for living in the nearest future. But if you have spare money without which you can survive the upcoming year, then you can invest in crypto, and I think your first option is way better than the second one. It is very likely that most altcoins will die in 2-5 years, and only 20-30 of them will remain. So, investing in all of the current ones you are risking to lose 80%-90% of your investment, even if some of the coins will provide you with good profits. I think if you still want to invest in many different coins, you should invest in 20 coins, 10 of which will most likely survive. Do your own research, of course, but since you asked I'm going to show you my top 20. They are(apart from Bitcoin, in which I would invest 50% no matter what): ETH, XRP, XLM, EOS, LTC, ADA, MIOTA, DASH, BNB, XEM, NEO, XTZ, ZEC, DOGE, LSK, ZIL, WAVES, STRAT, IOST, KMD, NXT, GAS, PPC. It turned out to be more than 20, but those are coins which, in my opinion, can rise 5-10 times in a year or two, although half of them may die.

With such an unstable market, it is quite risky. The first rule of an investor is to diversify his portfolio. And you have to choose from the top 20 coins. Or invest in bitcoin.

When we talk about it being "safe", it means that it has a low risk of losing your money, am I right? And when it comes to investments in cryptocurrency, you can never be so sure. Prices today will be different an hour later. It will be different a day later. Prices of different coins varies depening on its volume and demands. And investing your money in one coin will have an extreme risk of losing your money.

Nothing is safe in cryptoworld as you can see even so-called stablecoins show drop for different reasons.

If we decide to invest all money in one coin, then we have a 100% confidence in its growth or some lind of inside info. Otherwise I (or any other reasonable person) don't advise doing so.

Never a good idea for an individual to put everything into one basket in cryptocurrency; as this can be devastating and detrimental. Safest way which is ethical in cryptocurrency is diversification of portfolio than operating on a single portfolio.

I agree, putting an egg in one basket can be more risky at this time, regardless of what investment you are taking into it, the best thing to do is to scatter the investments into different coins, which is can be less risky, in the sense that a big loss can be prevented. A golden rule of some successful businessmen is that, never trust to only one business, diversify the business.

A year and a half ago, my friends and I created investment portfolios of many coins. During this time, much has changed. Something sold, something lies in a deep drawdown. I began to notice how friends pour everything into one or a maximum of two tokens, sit in the chats of these tokens and how sectarians believe in the future of this token. If I compare the strategy of a long hold of multiple tokens or only one, I choose the first option. But as before, I adhere to the rules of storing 50% in bitcoin and 25% in Ethereum. Everything else is altcoins. Let's look at how much from the highest point of trading our altcoins have sagged and how much bitcoin has fallen during this time.

This will depends on what your strategy on your crypto portfolio. Investing in 1 or 2 coins can maximize your earnings but at the same time you are taking a higher risk also whereas if you are splitting your portfolio into many different coins you are exposed to less risk but also less returns. So this will depends on how much risk you are comfortable to take.

in my opinion it is better to invest in some crypto currencies that have prices that are often stable or often rise. My goal is to invest in some crypto currencies because if there is a price decrease in one of the crypto currencies that we invest, then in the other crypto currencies there is no price decline or the other crypto currencies experience price increases, so we will not suffered a huge loss if we invest in several crypto currencies.

Investing everything onto only a single cryptocurrency is very risky, even if you would invest it only in Bitcoin alone. Better invest on many cryptos you trust hence you could hold it and manage its trade better and gain profit bigger, as the trust is the key to lessen doubtfulness and fear.

How safe? Safety is not actually given in here since it is online or digital but you should tkae risks youre the one responsible on studying what transaction you should do. Because sometimes scammers are really easy to identify. Just be active on what you are doing and youre in a right path when you feel and studied about particular token or transaction.

During the rush in December 2017 and January 2018, many people invested in Bitcoin, many people even made loans for this business.
Now they all do not know how to settle their debts. Therefore, if you invest in cryptocurrency, you must invest not in one but in several promising coins.

First and foremost,it is not advisable to put all your money in one cryptocurrency because anything could happen at any time. There was a CEO of particular exchange that sold ico to restricted country ,and the CEO was prosecuted. As a result ,people started selling aggressively to the extent that the token lost 80% of its value .Now,the traders that put their eggs in one basket by investing on one cryptocurrency are the ones who are at a big loss.
This is the reason traders are advised to spread their money on other cryptocurrencies. However ,even in trading ,traders who trade or focus their 90% attention on one  cryptocurrency tend to loose their capital once the trade goes against them, but if you spread your money on other cryptocurrencies there is a higher possibility that you won't loose all your money at once.

Of course its not safe to invest all your money because its too risky thats why you its better to put only enough amount so that and divide your money for your investment then to your saving. Also invest if you have potential asset because possible can give you a good profit. Don't put all your money its better to divide it especially to those other have potential coins.

Diversification is a key in earning bigger profits, the only reason why people dont like to focus in a specific project is that, losses may be bigger more than what you think, compared to diversification, losses might be lower. Talking about this, what they suggested and recommended to you is right and correct, it might be they are more experienced, more than you. So take their recommendations as well.

If you invested on the top currency I think it's not a problem because those coins are proven that will continue their journey to steadily maintain their ranking at the top but to think that crypto is unpredictable the risk is higher as they can dumps anytime and your money will trapped and it takes time to recover. Then, if you diversify to other coins the other coins can minimize your losses considering that not all coins will simultaneously dumps. It depends on how you manage your investment to get the most possible profits in a highly volatile market.

actually with the current conditions, if we have crypto assets that are in the top market I don't think I need to worry. all we need to do is wait for improved market conditions. I believe with crypto assets that I have the price will return next year. we all don't need to panic, stay calm and control.

It is 100 percent safe to invest in cryptocurrency between other risky options like ico or banks . if you think why i considered banks to be risky , well that is because banks are only controlled by people or authorities  but in crytpos you are sure that your money is safe because no one own's or holds crypto aside from you . same as on ico , many people prefer ico because of the benefits but they dont know the drawback of investing on it .

It is not actually safe,
Imagine putting your money in one basket and that basket could be snatch from you,
Then that means you wouldn't have money to start again.
Always remember that you should have some back up plans so if your investment turns out to be wrong you still have something to recover again.

Every investment decision is a personal one because of the intrinsic risk involved, however I prefer multiple investment portfolio to single investment portfolio so as to spread the risk, you can distribute your money in many crypto projects

You should be one hundred percent sure of this cryptocurrency, it should be background, infrastructure, brand name. But one or two cryptocurrencies are easier to monitor than many.

If you have more funds, you should invest in several projects at once, but the coins / tokens must go into several categories and must go through decision-making processes such as -> project detailed analysis -> project team analysis -> product / platform analysis -> whitepaper analysis, etc.

If this coin is stable and you are confident in it that it will bring you profit despite all the difficulties, then why not try to take the risk. Otherwise, of course you need to look for alternatives.

distribute the coins to the many that exist. It is a way of enlarging the chances to get lucky and also how to safely avoid losses from the collapse in the market price. While having only one crypto course is very quiet and feels long in accepting the results and it is not advisable for crypto in investments.

As for me, the correct tactic is the distribution of money by several coins. If you invest money in one coin, perhaps its price may fall and is long below. And you have to either invest more money or wait until the price returns.

Putting everything in Bitcoin is MUCH safer than putting some of it in altcoins. You can make money with altcoin trading but none of them comes nowhere near the store of value aspect of bitcoin. When it comes to long term investment bitcoin is the safest crypto option by a long stretch. Of course one cryptocurrency doesn't mean one wallet, you should it spread in many wallets (only open source wallets of course like Armory, Electrum, HODLER or running your own node with Bitcoin Qt), securing backups and so on.

It is better to distribute your investments in at least 5 projects. If several of them bring you losses, then the profit from the remaining projects will be able to cover them.
By investing your money in 1 or 2 projects you are very much at risk. You can lose everything, well, or very, very much to earn. What to do is up to you.

Well, I see no wrong investing in one kind of coin but personally, I prefer holding multiple kind of coin since it would be easy to do since there is a multiwallet available. This would mean that you can have multiple kind of coin in the safest and simplest way. Don't just peak a multi wallet, I'll recommend you to try Hodler wallet which is the onlt open source multiasset wallet available. Most wallet could not be trusted since most are closed source and does not provide private key.

I think that you need to keep at least 5 swift coins, I personally hold 15-20, but this is very much, since it is very difficult to follow all of them, the most optimal number is 8-9 coins

Title: Re: How safe is it to put everything in one cryptocurrency?

It depends on where you will distribute it. If its a top 10-20 coins, I don't see any problems with that. However, if its a newly established coin or low ranking coin, I think it will be best to reconsider your decision on where you will allocate your asset. If you were a trader, it is highly recommended to hodl multiple coins especially if you have a big capital. For those who were just starting to trade with small capital, you can have a coin or to as long as you will hodl it for a long time.

I am sure that one of the main rules when working on the crypto market is that you do not need to invest money in just one project.

It is unlikely that something absolutely safe can be on the crypto market. There are always certain risks that must be kept in mind. Therefore, to minimize risks, I strongly recommend working simultaneously with different reliable cryptocurrencies, not limited to just one coin.

I can add here only: especially when you decide to put all your money only in one cryptocurrency. Talk to the experienced traders and investors - they will tell you that it is always good to hold at least 10-12 cryptos.

Well, it depend what potential have to that token you want to invest in. For me isn't safe to invest in one thing because even it has a potential you don't know the possibilities of it to fall. So better invest in top 50 altcoins and find new ico that has a potential. And remember if you already gain profit and you think it is enough then don't doubt to sell and find another one to invest. Don't stick to one.

The question shouldn't be how safe, but how risky? Risky because even if we have great faith and belief in one currency, it is still unwise to place everything in a single investment. And if this investment fails, there will be no support. Meaning we will have nothing else to draw something out for us to start over. So it is always smarter and wise to expand our investments so if ever one fails, we still have those others to back us up!

It all depends on your investment strategy, the most common is to buy bitcoin or Etherium and forget about it for a long time. You can convert it to the crypto that has not move yet. I suggest you to get XRP and BCH. These both crypto has good volatility and will not gone together on market price pump.

It is very risky to have all your investment in one coin because if the coin price goes down, your investment will be lost. If you invest in multiple coins then there is a chance that one of them will be pumped at a given time and provide you with the opportunity to earn. So investment in many coins is recommended.

Hmmm, in my opinion, whether we are safe or not in storing crypto currencies depends on ourselves. If we apply all security procedures properly and thoroughly, then all are safe. Even though we only store in one or two crypto currencies, in my opinion it doesn't matter. All there is nothing to worry about, it's just that when we store in one or two types of crypto currencies then we must have a smart playing strategy. We must be smart in reading opportunities, analyzing, and predicting opportunities well. If we cannot look for opportunities then we will only experience massive losses. If we focus on investing in only one or two types of coins, we must periodically monitor the movements of these coins. This is to look for opportunities for maximum profit. Crypto currency market movements are so fast that we must be ready at all times. That is a bit of my thinking.

I've mentioned here before to the point of boredom that I always heard that whoever wants to invest in the traditional stocks and shares market should not put all their investment in one company. The key is to diversify your portfolio. This way, no matter what way the market works you will hopefully earn more than you lose. Isn't the cryptocurrency market exactly the same in this regard?

It's actually safe if we want to save our coins in one type of crypto currency only. This has a positive side as well as a negative side. On the positive side, if prices soar high then we can get very large profits but the negative side when prices decline and deteriorate, our chances of getting profits are getting smaller. To be honest, I myself don't like to save my coins in one or two crypto currencies only. I prefer to store everything I have in many types of crypto currencies. It was more interesting and challenging for me. When I have lots of crypto currency coins to play, I am increasingly challenged to play on the market. The advantages of the system that I took was that I would not experience a lot of losses if one of the coins I had dropped was because I still had other types of coins. I myself really like the world of trading so if I can play a lot of coins then I become more experienced and professional.

Yes, it's same as traditional stock and share, never put all the money in one cryptocurrency, it's too risk and don't help us gain more profit  than invest in different cryptocurrency, example you put all your money to buy 1 Btc $6500 last week, current price is $4500, then you already lose $2K, maybe you won't lose too much if invest in different cryptocurrency

It could greatly increase the price of your "everything" when you put it on a good altcoin that gives you something 200% increase or more in the future. Maybe let it stay for several days, weeks, or months it could do its purpose to increase. Note: It will only happens if you put it on a good altcoin since putting it on a bad altcoin, then expect the opposite. It also hides your true net worth to the people since altcoins have its anonymity and for me it makes me safe to get rid of cyber hackers that could try to steal something digital asset from you and it is hard to decrypt an altcoin that has its blockchain.

If you have a decent amount and have the opportunity to at least 500/1000 dollars to invest in a particular coin, you can choose the top 10, top 20 most popular coins and invest in them. Or read about projects whose coins are not yet very expensive, but they are promising and they only need time to grow. If the amount you have is not large, I recommend investing in such coins. And of course it is better to increase your chances of success by choosing more than 10 coins.

If you want to invest all capital at a coin. Then it will be your biggest mistake and the reason for the loss. Because we know that it is not good to have all the eggs in one basket. Because it can break the eggs. So, without investing in all the capital at a single coin, it is good to invest 3-4 coins a little bit.

I think distributed investments are most beneficial for us. As with the growth of coins. We can get a good profit 3/5. And we get good insurance. I am in favor of investing in 5-10 coins.

I would call it recklessness. Those people who invested all their savings in the bull market turned out to be extremely successful, and many then followed suit and lost because they could not predict the arrival of a bearish trend. The first was lucky, the second was unlucky. I believe that those who have knowledge always attract good luck.

I think there is a big difference in what amount of cryptocurrency you hold their money. It all depends on your investment strategy, the most common is to buy bitcoin or Etherium and forget about it for a long time. Many more on the contrary buying a lot of new projects and sell them on the exchange, thereby earning quick money on the difference of the course. Choose for yourself the optimal strategy and good luck!

It's necessary to choose not only a successful strategy but also a good time for purchase and sale, to follow the coins you've bought, to overcome waves of downfalls and rises and to sell at that price you want!

Investment must be done carefully, choosing a lot of investment will make you have a lot of variety to get a profit.

XRP is yet another powerful option that many people are not aware of. According to the official data, it’s the third biggest cryptocurrency right after Bitcoin and Ethereum so, as you can expect, it’s a pretty good solution.

I think you should not focus on investing in one or two types of crypto, because if we cannot choose the right coin to be used as an investment asset the coin may lose its value or have no price at all. however, if the type of coin we choose has a good future, choosing one or two types of coins to be used as investment assets is the safest way to do it first to start investing in cryptocurrency.
Therefore, doing research first on the coins we will choose is highly recommended so that the investments we make can be useful in the future

Obviously, it will be a completely wrong move to put all ones investments on one or two cryptocurrencies. This is because those two could fail terribly leaving you with not just a long face but a demoralised spirit. What I do is, consider some very good projects from their market capitalization and product offering as well as team and then divide my capital accordingly, giving more preference and investments to which project I find most likely to do well. I do that for 10 to 15 projects and keep cashing in them as they all appreciate. The truth is, it's always risky to place all your capital in any form of investments. This is because, all investments are potentially risky.

It is true. Prices move out of control, even though a deep analysis has been carried out. Moreover, the market situation is saturated like this, many traps, and very risky. It's good to wait and see, don't just put your funds in one coin or token, prepare plan B by using a reserve fund.

I think it's very insecure and very high risk. The crypto coins that you have do not fully have a future and are also a good team in developing. Diversification is the right step for you to put your money. That way, if something bad happens to your coins, you still have other coins as a place to save your money. And it will be better done on coins with the potential and prospects that are clearly good as coins that continue to be active in developing the technology.

Obviously it isn't safe. You can earn a lot if that specific coin/token booms but very risky too. The market obviously is unstable and unpredictable. It is always better to spread your money in different currencies and spread market risks so if one fails, you have more. Unlike when you invest into only one, if that fails, you lose everything. And a good investor wouldn't do such. Be wise.

It's not safe at all. Basic lesson in investment is always put your money into many different crypto. Invest in many different crypto can reduce your risk of losing money if your crypto dump. Further more, invest in many crypto gives you more chances to earn more profits.

I would say that it is not very safe because you have a greater risk of losing everything than the person who distributed their funds

I've been thinking a lot about this issue. I heard more than once that many are discussing this topic. Is it safe to invest everything in one, two cryptocurrencies? Or to distribute all the money in all the coins available for this amount?
Putting all you have into crypto is like taking a lot of risks. You should have asked yourself the question of: what if you lose everything? Well, yo also stand the chance of gaining, but do not assume that.

If this coin is not bitcoin, you should not put everything in one cryptocurrency. It is too risky, you can lose everything. It is better to make investment in 4-5 coins.

no, it's too risky in my opinion, I prefer to invest with a number of altcoins.
to minimize large losses, if there is one of your investments that loses at least there is still hope for your other investment.

I never have and I never will. I am a trader, which means I have to split my Deposit into several different currencies and never go full Deposit. It's dangerous

Market is  so incredible, so put everything in one cryptocurrency its big mistake. I think its better investing in diffirent coins so you can have some protection. also   in this period its not a good idea investing everithing in one coin. i prefer invest one part only and waiting

It is safest to invest your money in several cryptocurrencies. You will protect yourself with this in case of a sharp fall in the price of one or two coins. Read online information on how to diversify risks.

It can be observed on the example of the same Ethereum that people who strongly believed in it and invested in Ethereum all their money since its peak lost more than 10 times. For example, Bitcoin fell 5 times.

With the current state crypto market is in I wouldn’t say that it is a bright idea, it’s always better to diversify your portfolio, and I would say especially in crypto world and especially now. There has been a lot of projects that promise a lot but doesn’t deliver anything. So definitely diversify your investment.

Think about it, what are the chances that one project in such an unstable market will die and people will lose everything. Do you think that it is very low? No. Too big.

If it is among the top five coins, like ether, stellar, neo, waves, ripple or Eos , then putting all your capital on any of it is suffeincent to make returns, than investing in new coins that do not have future.

Since I'm holding a small amount of crypto assets I decided to change a couple of different currencies and tokens such as BTC, ETH and let's say FCT and MGO. More chances to get profits.  ;)
