Could you comment more on this?
190$(0.3 btc)/unit per shipped unit (with controller for 10pcs)

I'm just starting to look into these Gridseed miners and not sure what they require.
Do you have any more information on what this 'controller' is?

Also, do these have a standardized power connections? or are there adapters available for connecting to a PC PSU?

Thanks in advance.

Miners are USB, each 10 pieces package include:

10x gridseed usb miner
1x controller
10x usb 2.0 to micro usb cable
1 x usb hub 10 port
2 x power supply 12V 30A
10 x power cable (2.5-5.5mm) plug

less than 10  shipped unit include only the miner.
if you buy 10 pieces you get all the package.

Hi Blueman666, im here since 26th Feb...2013  ;D more than one year and i never had a problem with any members.

Having just been ripped off in another GB, I have to be a little more cautious this time so please excuse my impertinence in asking but I must:

(1) Can you have someone who is well known and trusted here (maybe someone from the escrow list) verify your identify and post here.  We do not need to know all the details, but having someone verify your identify, job and address and maintaining that information in escrow in case there is a scam .. well that at least makes me feel comfortable.  Many other successful GB founders have done this and I now consider it a must have for myself at least.

(2) Please provide details on your hosting environment.  Will this be a home operation?  Or do you have a commercial setup?

(3) Do you have any experience with managing a hosted GB before?  How do you know you will be able to do it (it is a LOT of work, especially if there are hackers on you with DDOS attacks, power issues, miners that constantly need resetting as these do (I have 10 now, and I spend 30-40 minutes a day babysitting them or else I lose hashing if I don't), etc.)

(4) Your prices seem really low relative to the market.  I am concerned because there was another GB that ultimately foundered because the initial quote from Gridseed turned out to be unrealistic as it did not include customs, and required a freight forwarder (pickup in China only was Gridseed's policy), and then Gridseed said the quote was for a backlog order that would not ship for weeks (it seems Chinese suppliers get great preference in order queue).  Are you sure that you can get these delivered to your hosting location and do you have locked in pricing and delivery dates?

Hi eightcylinders , i'm sorry for your loss.
1) I don't know anyone with those characteristics, if there is any voluntary i will be glad to send him my info.
2) Hosting will be at my office, i already bought 12Kw+ of energy contract.
3) I already runned mining rigs before and i'm not alone in this adventure: 2-3 lovely and trusted guy are helping me
4) My chinese contact/supplier is a very kind guy and he obtained great prices.

For the hosted units, is it $150 in addition to the cost of the unit? Or is it $150 "out the door and hashing" for the hosted unit?

However, I'm a bit worried about the deliverydate.

Do you have experience in international trading, customs, ,taxes,  etc?
Would you consider escrow?

Other 45 units are reserved by some friends.

You front it of course. That's the point of escrow, to take away the risk from the buyer.

I'm buying 100 units for myself, haven't enough money to anticipate.

Just looking for some positive reputation sources (eBay, etc) we can go on....thanks!

Edit: I would very much like this to be legit. Jefe541 messaged that he was headed to bed at 1:20AM UK time, which is understandable; we will pick up our conversation in 6-8 hours and I will update further.

Edit: I would very much like this to be legit. Jefe541 messaged that he was headed to bed at 1:20AM UK time, which is understandable; we will pick up our conversation in 6-8 hours and I will update further.

Update time! I am hesitant to post names and phone numbers provided to me in a PM without clear evidence of a scam, so I will omit those. Because I was considering dropping a lot of money on this group buy I requested personal details to provide to my lawyer to draw up a contact with, protecting both parties. Jefe541 deemed this acceptable and provided me two addresses, one he claimed was his and one he claimed was his employer's. His address matches the Odeon Theatre in London, while his employer's address is in a residential area that, to be honest, has probably seen better days. The employer name he gave me was listed as dissolved on the UK government Companies House website, and the website he pointed me to for them a.) Does not have a company number listed and b.) Does not appear to be registered with the Companies House under their current trading name. After I asked for some proper verification I was told it's too late for me to get in on this group buy... But then I see he's extending the deadline by ten hours. Is it too late, or not? And if he needed the money up front, why is he pushing back the deadline? Either he can front the money, in which case escrow would have been fine and everyone who's gone in so far would have been protected, or he can't front the money in which case he's delayed the order by a day. Further to needing the money up front, he asked if I could pay any portion of my desired order up front (because I don't keep tens of thousands of dollars in BTC close at hand, it will take me a few days to gather that kind of coin).

I'm sure there are perfectly reasonable explanations for each one of these little red flags, but I would be remiss to not post what I've found out so far. Jefe, I know running a group buy is not easy, so if this is legit I apologise for doubting you. Please feel free to explain here and make me look like an idiot in public. I will be very happy if everyone who's ordered receives their units, and I encourage anyone who does to post here in order to build credibility for the next group buy he runs.

Cheers,

bitgtr

I gave you my name and phone numbers to write a contract between us, so you sure can't post it here o i will proceed with legal action against you for privacy violation.
You told me that you need 2-3 days to get the BTC so yes it's too late, you could even join 2nd batch, this is what i told you or give me a % of btc and i will make you the pleasure (that i wont do anymore late your post) to use some of my partner units to cover the rest.
Pushing back the dead line? I pushed forward to 12 hours cause many costumers have their coins locked in blockchain.
Please next time first to write a post like this, contact me.

Mate, as I have said I am not posting any info here without clear evidence of scam OR your express permission. I am okay with it being too late for me to get in, and I appreciate the consideration you have offered in PM. But I was still uncertain after our conversation whether this is a real offer, so I felt obligated to post that here. I have offered you the opportunity to make me look like an idiot in public, and I hope you do, but I feel that everyone should be able to read the facts and decide for themselves. You have not run any group buys before so you don't really have a reputation to speak of, and several people have PM'd me with concerns about how many gambling posts there are in your history, asking what I've managed to find out.

I want to repeat, I AM NOT CALLING SCAM HERE. Yet. Nor have i violated anyone's privacy in any way, as no personal info has been or will be given out. I'm just giving people more information. I don't see why you would take it so personally, I thought I was quite clear that I want this group buy to succeed - because I want in on round two :P

Couple of questions re. The hosted option:

1. How much control does the buyer have over where they mine? Both for Scrypt and SHA.
2. How is the 5% fee taken?  From the weekly earnings?
3. When they are no longer profitable, how will the income from the sales be split?

Thanks

1. Full control, costumers can decide the pools.
2. If costumer take btc direct from the pool him must send each week 5% of earns, if not i will send him the earn without my 5%.
3. I'll sell on ebay and wire transfer or paypal to costumers their % without any fees.

Guys,  I don't know if this is a scam.

BUT, allow me to give you some FACTS:

1. GRIDSEED only take orders directly if the order is bigger than 500 units, for a small order like 200 units, they pass to resellers. I believe you are not ordering from Gridseed. Probably their Chinese reseller diginforce?
2. GRIDSEED wholesale price is $158 for 500-999 units and $155 for 1000+ units. NO ONE will get a better price (unless you are a friend of their CEO)
3. Even if you buy from GRIDSEED directly, you need to pay for domestic shipping (They use SF-Express, and customers pay for shipping), forwarder handling fee, international shipping.

YOU DO THE MATH!

Maybe this is a really good offer and they are making loss by offering a price of $150.  To me, too good to be true.

Sorry  jefe541 I believe you know what I said was all true. Maybe you have other plans to get profit.

3. Yes, how you could read in my thread i'm employeed in a  import/export company, we mostly work with asian countries and we know some good tricks.

We'll earn don't worry about it, our is a good offer, our plan is proposing low prices to get more costumers, for hosted plan with a little higher fees (5%).

You guys should be asking some really important questions......

For example. The name and location of his data center. Some pictures of the data center, or if its even a real data center.

What long-haul providers is he using? A Comcast connection? Or a fiber drop with redundancy and an 5 9 SLA.

Is his data center insured and bonded? Whats happens to your gear if the building burns down? Or the sprinkler comes on?

These are super important questions.

Jefe has me on ignore, but he quoted me just over US$100 per unit for 277 units by PM. So he's either lying about the price here, or in PM. Fishier and fishier... Especially opening up a second group buy before even delivering on the first. Almost like he doesn't want people having time to get suspicious.

Still not officially calling scam, but the red flags are beginning to pile up.

Edit: The price he quoted me was for batch 1 units, so it was naturally higher than what he's quoting now. Further to the above he'll also have to pay VAT and duty on imports to the UK, which adds up to a solid 27%, so if he was offering units for as low as $100 and change in a bulk order and only breaking even he must be getting units for less than $85 apiece (cbf doing the exact maths) on an order of a few hundred units, while for batch 2 he claims they had to order over 1000 units to get a price close to $155? And if the cost price is close to $155 then how is he offering 400+ units for $75 apiece? Hmmm  ::)  I wonder if anyone can get Gridseed to respond to an enquiry about whether this guy has actually placed an order...

Gridseed cheapest price direct from manufacturer is 155 USD

you are losing well over 10k GBP on this deal once shipping etc is factored in.

277 Gridseed overclocked to 400 (I'm being really generous here) earn around  220GBP per day

You take 5%. Thats 11 quid per day.

Explain to me how your business model works and you are going to get back the 10K you just lost on the sale by taking 11 quid a day in fees, Because I don't see it.

You answer yourself..277 overclocked to 400 its 123 of earn that earn about 4btc only 1st month(2400$) + 230 ltc only 1st month(3910$)
+ 5% of 277 units. This is only the first month.

I am very anxious to receive these miners and I hope like hell this is legit. I am very sorry to anyone for acting paranoid if indeed this is a legit GB. I am just hoping that this is not a real big scam as I did the unthinkable and sent coins directly to OP without escrow or better research. I was just so confused with all of the GB's going on and this had a 5 hours left timer so I jumped on it. I am still hopeful though!

I am still hopeful though!

apollojmr remember, never send amount that you can't afford.

Miners received right now! Will follow pictures..

Batch#2 goal reached, 24 hours to place an order or pay your reservation

Hmmmm looks like someone forgot to post pics.

I noticed that the majority of those who "purchased" are registered in the last 2 weeks.

Seller avoiding simple questions.
Seller not adhering to timeline he outlined.

This is a scam.  Hope someone has some information on this guy, or your coins are gone.

Hopefully OP comes back with a reply.

OP needs more than a reply to prove he's not a scammer.
Unfortunately, I foresee the OP coming in here, (or just leaving altogether) and explaining that he has had some issues with GridSeed/customs, giving this scam another 3-4 days to suck in one or two more members.

This is a scam.

Bingo. All absolutely correct.

If this guy is offering 277 by PM for 100USD I can guarantee you it's a scam. That is an unachievable price.

i offered 277 hosted unit at 100usd, it's my offer it's my thread, i will earn with fees and anyway it's not your business.

i'm bored of this false scam accusation, i'll receive the goods on monday/tuesday and i'll post pics first to dispatch them.

Regards,
Jefe541

Regards,
Jefe541

Yes, but you don't get the mining funds, the buyer does. All you get is the 11 quid per day. You can't get your money back. Therefore I can only assume it isn't legit unless you can convince me otherwise.

I was very weary of this offering from the onset due to his price for hosted units being lower than Gridseed's wholesale price.

However, I try to stay out of competitors threads because all that brings is drama.

I wish now I would of voiced my concern, I hope no one lost too much money and please be careful in the future.

Cheers

i hope you guys get back your miners... i was also interested in this deal but got out as soon as op said there would be no escrow... the thing is if you already prepaid upfront and announced about the wire made before group buy has ended, shouldn't be escrow easy? usually escrow is impossible when funds are being collected to pay upfront but in this case it appears wire was already sent ahead of group buy end... anyway op if you prove me wrong i'd be more than happy...

This must be confirmed as a scam! I have received a tracking number that is no good. Scam from day one. I'm upset as I've lost $3000. I should have known better and it serves me right I guess. But I just thought the way things looked it was all good. Shame on me. Shame on jefe541. I expect anyone involved to distrust this member and report this to the mods. Also the member Zach? Whatever his name that claims he met with jefe541 should be named as an associate to the scam. I am not done investigating and I will post any info I find. The DHL tracking number I was given is 5869761305.

Not sure if this will help:

Hey Jefe, I am interested in having 100 Gridseed Infinity units hosted with you. Can I specify which pool the units mine in? The reason I ask is that I would like to have them mine at the scryptguild pool, and have the coins mined auto-converted to BTC to be paid to my address. Also, will you be willing/able to send me the whole setup (PSUs, cables, miners, controllers/raspis, etc...) after you're done hosting them? Would you be willing to continue hosting them for the same 5% fee? Are you able to offer a better per-unit price on 200 hosted units?

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
i'm happy someone is interested in hosted option, 90% costumers want only shipped unit  :)
Ofcourse you can choose your own pool, i can host until mining will be profitable and than i can ship to you.
My best price im able to do on 200 hosted unit is: 34 btc instead of 36.8.

Regards,
Jefe541

Great, I am about ready to pull the trigger on this. Just a few more questions:

1.) What is the cost for all 277 remaining units, in fiat?
2.) When do you plan to start hashing?
3.) I assume the 5% fee mentioned in the thread covers all your costs for hosting, plus a little bit extra for you? There will be nothing extra to pay aside from the initial cost for the units, and then your fee for hosting is taken direct out of the proceeds from the miners I purchased?
3a.) The total cost you will quote me includes not only the miners but all associated accessories and hardware as well, right? PSU, cables, etc... everything to set up the units myself when/if I get them shipped to me?
4.) Is there any form of legal contract to protect the both of us?

Sorry if this seems overly thorough. I mainly want to make sure all the terms are laid out plain and simple so we both know what to expect of one another, since it's no small amount of money I'm proposing to send to you.

Cheers,

Jonathan

1.) 27900$, 45 BTC
2.) Within 48 hours of receipt of the miners.
3.) You right, hosting cost + my fees,  only 5%. In your case, see you want your pool for getting btc directly, you'll have to send me 5% from earning each week.
3a.) Right.
4) We could write something, i'm not able to do this but if you are i will sign and send you back.

Don't worry i full understand this isn't an easy situation, i'm glad to make a clear crystalline deal.

Brilliant, thanks mate, I will contact my lawyer to draw up a contract today. I will be sure to have her include the clause that I must send you 5% of my earnings per week for continued hosting - please let me know what kind of proof you would prefer for weekly earnings. You are located in the UK, correct? Will you be hosting in the UK? I'm in Australia - is there any VAT or duty to be paid on my end, or is all that covered by you on yours? If you ship I will have to pay 10% of declared value for GST, but that should be fine.

Also, do you have Skype or gtalk or any other instant messenger available? My Skype is jbriasco@outlook.com, gtalk is jonathan@bitgtr.com.

Final question, I may actually have someone in the UK interested in having a certain number of units delivered. Are you able to get any more than the 277 you have listed on the thread? If not that's okay, I want the rest for myself  ;P

Cheers,

Jonathan

Ok let me know as fast as possible, tomorrow i'll have to pay gridseed  ;)
Just include the clause in contract and i'm fine.
Hosting will be in UK, no VAT to you cause i will send you without any invoice, if you want the invoice you'll have to pay VAT, maybe i can do undervalued one  ;D

Only my e-mail: jefe541@katamail.com

I will open batch#2 soon for 1000+ units.

Regards,
Jefe541

Hmmm. These things are capable of 360KH/s+ stable on the latest firmware. What controllers will you be using? I am of course mainly interested in LTC mode, but if you're paying electricity and it won't impact stability or Scrypt hashrate dual mode will be fine too  ;)

Bank transfer will take some days to go through, and the contract will take some time to write. I cannot raise quite so much BTC in such a short time. Will you be able to wait for the the payment? Additionally, I will need your details for the contract: full name, address, phone number, any business information if you have it.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi Marco, nice to meet you. I'm just doing a little due diligence here - after all, you didn't provide any real references in the thread - and it looks like 24 leicester square is a commercial area while 262 commercial way is a residential area (and a little run down at that). Additionally, Gloryland Ventures is registered at 307a Barking Road, London, E13 8EE rather than the address you provided. It's also listed as dissolved. Do you have a current business number I can check? Do you have a LinkedIn profile or any kind of online presence that we can use for verification here?

Cheers,

Jonathan

I live in the "yellow" building.

Gloryland Ventures isn't dissolved, look here:

I haven't a business number or linkedIn profile, i found work here walking around giving away my CV.

Regards,
Jefe541

If he gave me his real contact info: what a dumbass. I did call the provided number, the man who picked up hesitated significantly when I asked if I could speak with Marco. Possible he simply took a few seconds to work out the name I said; also possible this is in fact the scammer's number and he panicked before saying "No, sorry, probably wrong number". Regardless I doubt Marco Astori is this guy's real name. PLEASE DON'T CALL THE NUMBER TO HARASS THE GUY UNTIL WE KNOW WHETHER IT'S THE OP. From some digging around it appears that it's a Vodafone number, I'm going to call their head office in about 11 hours and see if I can get a name associated with the account. If a mod happened to want to drop us the IPs from which this guy posted and registered, that could help too.

Oh, and Jefe: I didn't refrain from posting this earlier because I was scared of legal action. Your threat of such was utterly meaningless. I didn't post it on the off-chance you weren't a scammer. But now? Please, file an international lawsuit. I deserve it, for posting your "contact info". In no way would this provide me with all the information I need for everyone you ripped off here to find you and counter-sue to get their money back. Scout's honour.

I am not sure you guys are on the right trail..check on the guys that said they met with jefe541...Zach_BTC and mingophoria says he met with jefe541's brother..I am not sure where this info is coming from that you have but you should look in the USA as that is closer to where I think he truly is. He PM'd me that info. I know that it's probably fake, but it's worth following up every lead we have. People do get sloppy. That phone number for example - at the point he gave it to me he was very likely expecting me to call and confirm, so it may be a number he or an associate of his had control of so he could allay my fears. Burner phone? Most likely. But someone answered it just an hour or so ago. Your high up government buddy would very likely have more success than me in pulling info on the number though  :P

Edit: He's also got a pretty extensive post history, it'd be worth seeing if he posts from a limited number of IPs and follow those up too.

Sorry to all those who lost on this - I actually spoke with the guy about a 100pcs order and was offered a great price a couple days ago.

Did some research (his post history from before a few weeks ago is all junk) and spoke to a contact about the wholesale price Gridseed were providing and this guy was $40 per unit under wholesale.  Dodgy as.

Really hope you guys get your money back or your miners.

I am no sock puppet. I did meet up with that person claim to be jefe541's brother. Like you guys, i am also eagerly participating in this GB as the price is too good to be true but i sat this one out at the very last minute. Hopefully you guys are able to claim back the btc you have paid to him.

OK, Ill share some info as well.
I asked for 50 miners and i got price for 4800€.
He asked me to send money to private account, after which i declined hes offer. Theres no way that i would send money to unkown third person without any info about the seller. I asked for hes personal details and proof of identity, but he did not give me any.
SEPA payment account which i was supposed to pay belonged to name:  Maurizio Fabbri and bank is in Rome: http://www.swift-code.com/italy/swift-code-cimtitr1.html
Unfortunately i have nothing else on him.

Sorry to hear that it is a confirmed scam now.
I did give a warning last week, but because he is a senior member, I was not so sure.

Happy I veered away from this one....
Good dox with the info that he provided, but my gut is telling me it's not legitimate.  The university link... that guy just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would waste 5 years of expensive schooling for 7-9 bitcoins.
Does not make sense, does it?

About escrow i can't use cause i need to collect money and pay gridseed.

Hmmmm.... ::)

Hmmm? How could i use escrow if i have to send the wire transfer to gridseed before miners receivement?

Okay, did I miss some other feedback from others that could vouch for any prior deals with you?

Just looking for some positive reputation sources (eBay, etc) we can go on....thanks!

He never replied, and this was a huge red flag!
I'm sorry for those that did the deal, but we have all learned a lesson.

Stay safe, everyone!

That'll keep happening until victims start giving the proper trust feedback to at least prevent the usage of his account.

jefe541 is a scumbag scammer and he is not going to get anyone else because I will keep putting his bad name out there until everytime he logs in he thinks of killing himself because he has done such wrong.

I am pretty sure he has bought a hacked account from an actual member that used to own that account. There are many selling these accounts now and we need to be more careful then ever. It is sad that we have to now forget what a members trust ratings are and how long theyve been here. Lessons learned.
