Then we hit the bottom and typically passive nonconfrontational bulls grow balls and start fighting back against the bear trolls using their own underhanded tactics. Notice Virgin Roach was largely tolerated by most until very recently when people just couldnt take it anymore and started to metaphorically claw his eyes out with no mercy. To me this is normal and healthy as the Bitcoin social media interwebs grow immunity to these trolls and kicks the shit out of them at the bottom. They will try it again as we crash from over 100k in a few years and we will kick the shit out of them at 40k. It's going to zero! All currencies are Ponzi schemes. Bitcoin is a currency, not money. And yes, all currencies start at a value of zero and then return there. The only question is how long of timespan between point A and point B. For it to qualify as money instead of currency, it would have to be a non-perishable, physical commodity, among the other traits required of money. Where else do you make believe the "durability" requirement of money is supposed to emerge from? Digital shitcoins have zero durability because they can die at literally any second, while it requires a blackhole hitting the earth to kill off metals. This is why those gold and silver coins from 2500 years ago still have value today. Will bitcoin exist in 2000 years? Fuck no. You would be lucky if it hasn't died or been replaced in 10 or 20. Now some idiot will claim, "who cares, maybe bitcoin will last 100 years. That's all I need because I don't plan to live longer". It doesn't matter what *your* plans are. The fact you admit it can die at any second and cease to exist is why it's a currency and not money. Claiming bitcoin is money when it's not even fungible and clearly still not money even if it was is probably the biggest hoax ever shoveled on humanity. Silver also started at zero, so what? There are risks to cryptocurrencies of course, they may even be bigger than those of PM's, but at the same time the probabilities of growth are WAY higher. They are different asset classes, in fact they are even complementary. It's retarded to think it is a binary matter and an even riskier bet. Silver can also die at ANY second, even if I do agree that the probability is less than that of crypto. Also, in europe silver pays 21% VAT so if one consider that plus the spread between buy/sell, you are basically underwater almost 40% the very moment you buy some. Gold doesn't have VAT, but it does have a big spread too. As much as I like to think I should have some PM's, all my rational thinking tells me otherwise. You are still stuck in the middle ages where something being tangible is a positive. The Bitcoin network itself is tangible tho, every device containing a full copy of the blockchain specifically. Hard to destroy all of it. The only trait gold has that's superior to Bitcoin is it's network effect, and that is a function of time. The longer Bitcoin survives, the less of an argument that is. Also the longer Bitcoin survives, the lower chances of an altcoin overtaking Bitcoin, because of the importance of network effects as we can see with gold. Even if a theoretical superior technology arises, it would still be a dumb risk dumping all of your coins for an altcoin with 0 test of time when Bitcoin would still be doing fine. If deciding improvements by altcoins come, it could always be implemented in Bitcoin anyway. Im not saying "dump all of your gold and buy Bitcoin", im saying that anyone being a 100% goldbug ignoring Bitcoin is making an huge mistake. In my opinion I think he has a bit ego and having a big ego as a nocoiner can cost you missing on massive gains. To me I think he is the type of guy that thinks "he was right" after Bitcoin has massive crashes, sees it hits ATH a couple of years later, thinks he was right again, and is trapped inside this cycle. Even if Bitcoin went to 0 in 1000 years for some reason and he happened to be alive and missed on being insanely rich in the meantime, he would still think he did the right thing. Overall they're only getting a 2.9 out of me. Compared to 2014/15 the amount of threads started by tragic nobodies was 3-5x lower. Their commitment on the playing field simply wasn't present. The amount of shills talking to each other was way down. Back then their doom had a tinge of believability. This time around it just looked a little... puerile. People dont buy bitcoin to use as a currency, they buy it to protect themselves, from inflation, unemployment, health issues, etc. The value increases and then comes adoption by more people. You will not have adoption by average people if the price is constantly falling. I don't care about proudhon or some other doomsday callers but r0ach was a bit different imo :) I don't find any problems in attempting to learn from the various nocoiners in terms of both how they got to become a nocoiner and trying to figure out some of their psychology in terms of selling too much BTC too soon and maybe in some cases selling all of their BTC, then subsequently going into considerable efforts to attempt to justify their dumb behaviors.. which does seem to have a tendency to spin facts and logic a lot in such a way that becomes more and more detached from reality.. at least in the case of someone like roach.. and probably mindrust also fits into a similar category - even though at one point mindrust said that he bought back one of his coins. By the way, roach may have bought back into BTC at various points too, but then he did tend to get in and then get out again and then proclaim some kind of fiat victory, which continued to show that something was missing from his perspective on bitcoin fundamentals (seeming to lack confidence in bitcoin fundamentals). I find little to no reason to praise such no coiners in blanket kinds of ways, even if they might have said some smart things from time to time and including sometimes contributing to productive conversations, after maybe having to wade through their mostly bullshit in order to find a gem, every once in a while, including ongoing problematic natures of their post-rationalizations that come after they made their dumbass mistakes.. and sure some of them are smart peeps - so even if we bash them to bits for how dumb they were, praising them would likely cause us to devolve into their fantasy thinkenings or maybe it is just showing us that we are also prone to stupid ass fantasy thoughts, just like the dumbass(es) that we are striving to praise? masterluc is also one of these who get overly praised, even though I believe that he is NOT a no coiner... case in point, post - and including the whole thread.
