Every Month, a limited quantity of History Coldkeys will be produced. The Q1 2020 Edition of History Coldkey will be limited to 64 monthly Coldkeys. The loaded amount of BTC, for every monthly batch, will always be equivalent to 50€ on the 1st day of the Month. They are a reminder of the prices Bitcoin underwent during some time periods. This collection of items allows you to remember at what price Bitcoin was, and compare how much 50€ worth of BTC means on the day you look at your History Coldkey. :) In a few months, years... The Serials for this release will be made that way : HISTORY-<year>.<month>.<serial> (ie. HISTORY-19.11.23 would be the card #23 for November 2019) It is a pleasure to announce that Kryptowerk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=949248) has collaborated with us for this release as a designer. You can find some of his other art pieces here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5157097) or there (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5140464) among many others. The upcoming February and March History Coldkeys will have the same background design; some details such as the Block number, the EUR/BTC rate, and the funding amount, will be different. We are looking to collaborate with artists that are involved with crypto-currencies to further develop this serie. These Coldkeys bear the same security features and authentication mechanisms (UV, 2 AuthKeys) as the rest of our releases. Price : 32 € per History Coldkey. Funding must be provided on top of the price, in the form of BTC (VAT Included, Import taxes are the responsibility of the customer) Purchasing limit of 3 History Coldkeys per month per person.History Coldkeys are shipped to you funded*; however for a better security, we are open to transactions with a 3rd party escrow (from Bitcointalk) who will hold onto your funding during the shipping process. I really need to follow this thread for updates. :P Yes, this thread will serve for the entire lifetime of that serie. :) All upcoming collaborations with artists, releases and general annoucements will be held here. Probably dumb question, but it are the same cold keys as the ones before right ? It is the same background made by 1Dq. However the denomination, some elements such as the date, the block number, the displayed BTC rate, is always according to what happened on the 1st day of the month. As of now it would be difficult to completely change the artwork for every monthly release. (which I don't believe will happen soon) This serie is meant to materialize Bitcoin's History. There have already been two releases of 32 cards : October, and November. You will find more info on the 2nd post of this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193561.msg52782143#msg52782143). You'll notice that this serie has the rate of Bitcoin on it, on a particular day, some other BTC data, and it's always loaded with an amount of BTC equivalent to 50€ in fiat, on that day. We think it is a good manner for people to add some BTC to their hodling stash, every month, in an elaborated way. It's fun to see how Bitcoin is evolving too and we think it's neat to have a physical item tracking the course of Bitcoin. Tonight will come the last release of 32 Coldkeys (for December) that have this design from 1Dq. They are limited in quantity, and also subject to a few changes before the next January release. First thing, we will feature a different artist involved in crypto-currencies and we will honor him for 3 months, January, February and March. I'll post a more extensive update later this month. I'm the first surprised to witness that the monthly releases sold out faster and faster over the months ..! To be honest, I never envisioned the fact that this serie would be so desired and successful, otherwise we'd have done many things very differently from the very beginning. There will be quite some changes implemented, including some for the next History Coldkey release; one major improvement will allow you to rest easy and make sure you won't miss out anymore on a single monthly release. :) I will post an extensive update about the project as a whole, and about the future of each serie soon. The correct amount of crypto and a pair of bech32/segwit addresses will be served to you after you input your token in the tool. The release was on the 15th, you got the tracking information by the 20th but your parcel was left at the post on the 3rd of February. (Also, please use the USPS tracking with the tracking info you got as it is more accurate in your case than the tracking link that was provided to you.) Anyway, most of the orders were dropped off at the Post end of January/early February, around the same time. I am conscious that the processing speed isn't as fast as you would expect; however it has been constantly delayed a bit since the beginning. I admit it, until now it's been complicated for me to process orders efficiently. Do batches of orders ? Make them all at once ? Process orders individually but redo each step every time, order after order ? I'm putting my process into question, constantly looking for improvements. I'm not an expert in logistics, and I could learn a lot from Mantis Prime ways. :) One good example of an improvement would be the paperboard envelopes. They ensure the Coldkey packaging doesn't get bent during transit; I don't need to cut paperboard with cutter anymore and use tape to secure them. It seems like a detail, but this detail ended up saving me from countless hours of cutting paperboard. I'll explain what is going on : we are growing. We realized thanks to you all that what we do with Coldkey is viable, given that legislation & governments are slowly embracing crypto. The next step will be to make Coldkeys for alts and advertise them in said alts communities. It is going to get more serious very soon. Our roots on Bitcointalk will most likely help for sure !! I became aware with the Contest / Bitcointalk Coldkeys that it will become increasingly difficult to keep up with the operation in those conditions (running the operation at my home). I started looking for solutions to "scale up" and this is the reason why We moved in it between the 24th-27th of January, and yes minerjones, your order fulfillment started at my place, but has been finalized in my new working environment. Yes, it lacked profesionalism and this isn't what I want. With the right environment, many great things can be accomplished. As of now, there are two Coldkey releases ready, one being developed, but I won't make new Coldkeys apart from the History serie, as long as this isn't something that rolls out smoothly. I say "we" as in a company, the "corporate we", but in the end I do everything by myself (except for the artworks and Xprim777 helps with tweets and doing small bits of accounting). Believe me, I would prefer to take time to spread awareness about Coldkey and work towards getting the agreements to sell crypto for fiat rather than handwriting in the packaging (my handwriting sucks) and make the parcels / print stick labels, on top of the actual production, which takes most of my time. I'm not around anymore as I used to be, let it be in private chatroom or around the forum. I manually double check that the address on the Coldkey, associated with the serial number, is the same than in my records, same for the AuthKey, so it's all good for loading & release. I prefer to be late on the delivery rather than mismanage funds, addresses, authkeys, whatsoever. It's not a very fun time in my life because of the quantity of stuff to think of, but it tends to get better. I'm working very hard right now and hopefully it will pay off someday. Yes, sure. It will become much more stable and smooth when I hire someone to take care of a part of the whole process, but until then, I do my best. It will most likely happen when we have raised some initial funding to expand further. In late december / january, it became increasingly complicated for me to run the operation and do the production at my living place. To be clear, this makes me very confounded towards you all; I wouldn't like my order to take 2 weeks to be processed. A few updates : - The mintage for the Q2 2020 History Coldkey will be limited to 48 History Coldkey per month. - Starting on the 16th March, we will offer our current subscribers to extend their subscription for an additional quarter. Only then we'll offer subscriptions for sale to other customers. (Also, we reserve a very special/one-of-a-kind surprise to our most loyal customers. :) ) - We are currently experimenting with fiat EUR funding ! This is a quick update. First of all, I apologize to all of you for the lack of communication on my end, but I didn't know what to say to you and how to address the situation. I needed some time. The unforeseen events that are unfolding through the world made things very complicated for me right now; as it most likely did for most of you and many many other people as well ... I hope you're all safe and healthy. Everything is more difficult, everything is slower and much more erratic these last days. On monday, our lockdown has been extended for 4 more weeks (until the 11th of May). Things are not likely to get back to normal before that date as people are still encouraged to stay home, allowed to go outside only for a limited set of precise purposes. Several parcels with supplies that were headed to our company made their way back to their senders with no reason. Apart from parcels handled by private courier companies (UPS, DHL, GLS..) we didn't receive a single item / letter by the regular Post since the beginning of April. (I personally got zero letter to my mailbox this month) Given the situation, the whole makes me very weary about shipping your Coldkeys loaded. I don't want to hope that your order will make its way through to you. The probability for something to go wrong there is very high and I hate it, but that's how it is. Precautions are needed. We'll have to unfold the April History Coldkey release a bit differently, and possibly the next upcoming May release as well, depending on the situation. TLDR ; Your parcels will ship ASAP but not loaded; we will still collect the funding for orders where it's missing and proceed further. I'll ask you to confirm the proper retrieval of your Coldkeys with an email so I proceed with funding them only when you have them. You will receive your tracking very soon in an email from Coldkey, along with more information about what to do when you have received your parcel. Sometimes it's hard for me to reply to all of you individually; please do not take this personally and feel free to reach out to me again if I didn't reply. I'll be implementing a new loading feature with a two factor mechanism to trigger the loading of the Coldkeys. The point is to make sure the person who picked up the parcel is the person who placed the order and who funded it. I have been asked myself in the past to step back for a card with a specific serial number in favor of another user who has already been in this serial number of coldkeys quite from the start and - it goes without saying - I did step back because I do not want to destroy their collection; so in particular in terms of lower serial numbers, it will be tough for you. honestly, I would also be pretty pissed when I'm in the history coldkey series right from the start with a specific number and a new/another member steps in months later demanding to get my specific serial number for the future - and is getting it granted. that would ruin a lot of trust in the company, so I can't imagine that. makes perfect sense. I have had struggles with shipping these last couple of weeks. Originally I resumed shipments 2 weeks ago, using a new tool to make it all easier and much straightforward. Shipped 2 parcels to EU; the tracking number never received an update. I didn't know what was the issue, really. La Poste customer service told me every sorting facility is overloaded and that planes were the bottleneck for transit and asked me to be patient. Well, my patience has some limits and today I assume these 2 parcels are lost. Even more so when the status for the parcel gives me such info : https://i.imgur.com/m4QPfHc.png (How can it be "Left at post office" on the 6th of November 2020 ?? Last status modification on Dec 2020 ??) Luckily no BTC is lost as these were shipped including the Shipping ID / Shipping Secret procedure (https://shipping.coldkey.eu/). Yesterday I shipped a "test" parcel, to see how bad it is. I also used a label generated by our new shipping tool. Tried something differently and miraculously, the tracking number updated in the evening. The difference was that : - The 2 first parcels were taken 2 weeks ago by La Poste couriers who picks up outgoing mail daily right from the office. (This is how I always proceeded with shipping History Coldkey (being loaded) since we have offices. Never got a problem doing so.) - Yesterday I headed to the post office and insisted for the employee to scan the label in front of me. I considered there might be something wrong with the label itself, as we used a new tool, but I wasn't notified that something was wrong so I don't know really. But it went through smoothly. They took the parcel. Tracking shows it has now left France. I could have kept shipping in the 2 weeks period where I expected an update, but what's the point if the parcels aren't taken into account / are stuck somewhere / are lost. Now that I know how to get a parcel moving again, I don't mind going to the Post Office and require them to immediately scan every parcel I hand them. If I kept doing how I did it before the sanitary crisis (shipping Coldkeys loaded) then we'd have lost a few hundreds €€€ worth of BTC only with those 2 parcels sent 2 weeks ago. I am extremely confounded by the situation. Please, don't worry. Your bits are safe, and your Coldkeys will arrive soon. I am not an expert in logistics and could use one, but I'm an expert at flipping bits (the 0 and 1 bits) and I do my best to provide you with safety. I am terribly sorry about how this quarterly release rolled out, and I really cannot do more than ask you for a little bit more patience as I process it all. Thank you for your comprehension. One of the two parcels sent 2 weeks ago just had an update on the 25th. The other one, got an update just today. This week, several parcels were shipped differently and all got updates in the same day / next day at latest. Despite being more time consuming than the 1st approach, it is more reliable, so I'll keep it that way for now. I retained parcels and wasn't shipping due to this uncertainty which is pretty much cleared as of now. Everyone awaiting for their Coldkeys, please expect more news in the upcoming week. :) This is about all orders for which we have received the funding and for which everything is alright. We sent reminders about the funding to customers with a subscription, the parcels will not ship if we didn't receive the funding for them. I have a few things to clarify before proceeding, but more reminders will be sent soon to all customers who placed individual orders for which we didn't receive funding. May and June History Coldkeys are still available for a short period of time ! They will not be available anymore after the 2nd of July. All the best to your business - I know how stressful these hickups can be, especially when there is absolutely nothing you can do expect wait for an update or at some point in time give up on the package as "lost in transit". Had a similar experience about 2 years ago with some simple letters with postcards I sent to the US. After almost 3 months or so they re-appeared. Also, right now packages to France and the US have had similar "freezes" regarding their status, luckily it didn't take quite as long as you described here. Banksy isn’t going to collab with anyone he doesn’t know nor would he if it involved someone else profiting off his art. I’m not sure he collabs at all or if we know if he does or not. But with raising awareness, hopefully we will collaborate with other different awesome artists. :) The december History Coldkey will be available soon, and it wil somehow be the last of it's kind.... Many thanks to anonymousminer for helping with the distribution ! I am still finalizing everything, and will keep implementing changes in the background. This will allow to serve you all much better, and make it smoother as a whole. :) The remaining unsold Q3 20 Coldkeys are not ready to be released yet. This will happen when we are ready, so anyone who wants to complete their collection and didn't have the opportunity will be able to. There will be major changes happening to the History Coldkey serie, as soon as Q1 2021. Given what's been happening the crypto-world recently, this isn't something that we can miss to document on a physical medium. As most of you know the way these History Coldkeys work is to load $50 worth of bitcoins based on the price of BTC on the 1st of each month. Looking back at the BTC value loaded on these coldkeys originally when the project was started back in Oct of 2019 it seemed like it was very tiny amount of $50. While doing the calculation based on the Current BTC Value(approx $23750), the value of some of the coldkeys have almost quadrupled in last few months. And yes, it's 50€. In this time frame (Q4 2019 <-> Q4 2020), the EUR/USD rate was around 1.10-1.20. So the initial funding rate is equivalent to somewhere between $55-$60 depending on that exchange rate. Anyway, the result is stunning ! :) I am very proud and happy of achieving the initial purpose behind these releases : peg an amount of fiat into BTC, regularly, at the exchange rate of the moment when it happens. Many thanks to all the customers who have purchased the History Coldkeys. An overwhelming "Thank you !" to all subscribers who helped us going on. Your appreciation and support helped a lot. :) We still have the December 2020 History Coldkey coming very soon, and this will be the last of this kind. We can consider that these 15 different monthly releases are one-of-a-kind, as they are very limited in quantity. We can also consider that they are a distinct part of the History Coldkey serie, as the principle behind the History Coldkeys will evolve as soon as of January 2021. :) Since we cannot change this thread to self moderated, I will start a new one for the ongoing serie soon. This thread will remain opened. The 2nd post of this thread has been updated to gather many of the designs in the same place. (I still need to add the Q4 20 to it, will do when the distribution is completely finalized. :) ) |
