Ever had of a story of people who committed suicide or attempted it because they lost funds which is huge to them. Most of the stories are made up but also some a true and real.
I would never tell anyone to stop gambling come to think of it I gamble also myself but I will Ask we should be guided while doing so to avoid unseen calamity.

How can you control your mindset while gambling, this is really not easy I must say you are drawn to playing it over and over again it doesn't matter if you are winning or losing

Set your target~ before a days gambling you should have in mind what you want to win or what you can afford to lose its easier send than done I know but with constant practice you might just develop the mindset.

Get engaged in other things~ other than this helping out it can also fetch you funds that can be used for gambling or any other uses.

Have time to enjoy your winnings~ I don't know if its also happens to anyone, when you you gamble
And you immediately win a sum that was above your expectations if this happens you can try enjoying your winnings and then latter come back

Your mindset can be controlled is only if you put in effort into it.

A story that was told to me second hand, which was absolutely real, was about a certified gambling junkie who liked to bet on everything. His family was constantly pissed at him because he was always gambling away all their money. One time after incurring some massive losses, he got a bookie to accept what he thought was a surefire bet on a high school football game, in order to offset the losses. (I didn't even know you could bet on high school football, but if you know the "right people," I guess...)

His team was winning all the way up until the end. They had the ball late in the 4th quarter, then there was some sort of fumble, the other team's defense got the ball and ran it in for a touchdown. He ended up losing, and killed himself later that night, not wanting to have to tell his family what happened. He was a fully grown man (45-50 years old) who committed suicide over a high school football game!

Don't know what the moral of the story is here other than don't get addicted!

I agree with OP's points and also add the obvious of don't gamble more than you can afford to lose. If you're seriously in the hole, just stay in the hole and live with it. Don't try to double-down and end up digging the hole twice as deep.

i totally agreed on this because it took me years and years before successfully managed to control my desire to continue gambling.

actually its not that simple because there's a need to become addiction first before finally reached the goal.but worth it because at least there is no need to committing suicide just to stop the addiction.

If we analyze, gambling isn't more harmful financially than watching a movie unless someone do it over limit.

Gambling is not a way to make money. It's short and simple, an entertainment. Just like movies.

Can watching movies pay your bills? Can watching movies make you a living? Can watching movies help you to stand and establish yourself in life?

Then, how is gambling causing much more harm than movies do?

Well, for movies, a person doesn't : 1) go out of limit to entertain himself. 2) uses emergency funds or funds which are important to get entertained. 3) doesn't take loans to entertain himself

But, for gambling, a person who's addicted will do all of the above. Causing disastrous problems.

If you consider gambling as a movie and apply the same expense on it, then surely it won't bite you much except for the little expense :)

Gambling should be a fun game but all the fun are lost when you try to get greedy and coupe more than you bargained for. I would relate the "hole" in question to be the bottom lose one should be able to bear and when it's reached no point giving it a go there are high chances that you lose when you are on tension, your brains seems to be fixed anxiety sets in and you are pushed off balance. Most of the gamblers are normally not that much mature in their mind as they mostly lose think that they cannot lose. Even i think same that i will win the game but this does not happen always.
A gambler has to make plan and control his game and if he does not do so, he will end up losing in gambling.

No gambler is born to follow these rules from the day first. As it is always that case that Man learn with experience. When you gamble fearlessly and lose, only then we realize what mistake we did. I also learnt from my mistakes in gambling and now i am able to control myself but sometimes i also do mistakes even i have played gambling a lot. Its an always learning experience.

It is quite tough to handle the situation specially when you are in state of straight losing. It takes for about a days, weeks just for the individual to imbibe the clarity of controlling mindset whenever you gamble. I agree that gambling should be fun, but for those who are addicted, it's really hard to control their mindset, although I would admit that I have been an addicted gambler myself, but it didn't crossed my mind to take my life because I lost everything.

I also witnessed crazy stories, friends and some gamblers I know committing suicide. But on the contrary, I know someone, a friend of my father who really live his life through gambling put all his children on good school, so it cut both ways, just saying.

Actually you have the point in which we should build a good mindset and perspective when we are gambling because we should really controll our own mindset in which we should win in the gambling session that we are going. Just like for example we should have a clear mindset in order for us to think properly our strategy and tips in order to win. If we are having a hard time and we are currently in a straight lossing then we must have the proper mindset in which we should know on when we should quit because we should know if our luck are against us.

I guess that I am in complete control of my mindset like I just gamble for fun which is most of the times for free of cost. Before, I work for a gambling house's campaign and the rewards will be credited to my gambling account and I do gamble with that like falsely assuming that I was still gamble for free. That means I am not spending from my hand or from my regular job but that times bitcoin was trading below $1k levels. When bitcoin costs more, I started realizing that I need to save my efforts too.

I mean to say if you are taking time to analyze what you are doing then you may have control on your mind which will eventually save you in all means. I haven’t heard a story about someone who attempted or commit suicide because they lost funds in gambling but I’ve heard in the past of someone who died because he gambled non-stop in the effort of trying to recover the lost funds. Setting target or goals in gambling is easy but when you are already gambling and you have all the emotions going on then people tend to forget the target they have set before gambling, especially when they are winning, greed tends to overpower the mind of the gambler to the point that it is very difficult to stop anymore. In gambling controlled mindset is very important to avoid unnecessary problems and losses.

Everyone begin with a controlled mindset. Gambler misses control when when there is continued winning streak and all of the sudden loss happens when we go for a higher value betting. Gamblers are used to it, they accept loss as well as wins. The new gamblers are the one who gets a mind of winning big and when he can't move as he has calculated the mind gets into frustration.

With sports betting one can set the limit on spending, because to end a game it takes time and we won't easily go for consecutive betting. The lucky things, i always have my own midset "Never doing a gamble using your own pocket" most of the money i used only from the payment freelance like Signature Campaign/Bounty. So I would say your mindset is quite poor because this is in fact, your own money. Store it for a year and than try to waste it in gambling, you will see how hard it will be, just like "using your own pocket". I would advise you to stop lying to yourself. A lot of people are suffering because of gambling addiction and it is really difficult to have a good mindset when you are gambling. I am not a chronic gambler, but there are instances, even if I set my own limit and most of the time I know when to stop, I sometimes cannot stop gambling at some point where I lost all my winnings or even lose more money. It really takes a lot of effort to control your self when you are addicted to gambling.

Not just in gamble even in trading, for those who trade and not gamble too much. Controlled mindset is really needed. You must know when to stop and not be greedy when you already won. Some people got problem due to depression or guilt and regret in their decisions. They won already and still decide to continue until it all loss. So better set your focus in everything you do.

@OP Whatever you said works in theory but not in reality. This is same as asking the drug users to not use drugs or reduce using them or get an alternative drug. The point is if you're addicted you need to seek professional or medical help. The control and play technique will work for someone who tends to control their emotions or greed not for extremists.

Good traders are generally smart and know how to control their money and when to withdraw. Good gamblers are still addicts.

I doubt you could state that gambling was a cause in that state. It would more likely be an addiction, which is quite different from gambling. Just that, the victim got addicted to gambling. It's not just about gambling, it's about anything you do. Create a good mindset that you would always follow, no matter what. This creates opportunities for your resistance to grow against temptations, creating more chances to improve your character and discipline.

Set your target: A gambler will never set a target, he/she is not their to win or lose. They play for the adrelanin rush. The cause of any addiction is Brain stimulation.

Get engage to other things: There are is very little time in the life of a gambler as he is busy engaged in gambling.

Gambling addiction can only happen if you are preoccupied with gambling, you must have a good support from family or other hobbies that you can indulge, gambling is not life and you should put it in proper place, if you have no control on it it will cause a lot of pain and misery to you and your family, and how you valued money is also important on how you treat gambling.

Points you have mentioned is easy to say than done. Set your target? What if you changed your target when gambling. I mean when people gamble and starts to lose a lot, they tend to kinda forget about everything and they become more focused on recovering their loss thus forgetting about their "fixed" goal.
Same goes for "enjoying your winnings". Once they have made some good amount of profit, they end up "enjoying" so much that they start gambling even more and ends up losing everything.

I think this is the most important thing to have. To be blunt: get a life. People with interesting, constructive activities in real life shouldn't be too focused on gambling or would be easier to move on from gambling losses instead of doubling down.

I don't know if these are good pieces of advice, because I don't have a gambling addiction and find it easy to stop when I need to, but these points sound good to me. Just yesterday I was discussing drug addiction with my friends who are a doctor and a biochemist, and they said that even when physical addiction starts to develop in case of alcohol or serious drugs, the most important thing is for a person to be in control of one's own life, desires and deeds. If a person has a life and important as well as interesting things to do, this person is less likely to become an addict. I think it's especially true about non-physical addiction cases like with gambling. Learning to control oneself can help avoid problems.

when people put money on gambling they should know the consequences of losing, this is the same as anything else not just gambling.

If you’re into gambling because you want to win the jackpot then you’ll really not be able to control your mindset at all. I’ve seen it happen right before my very eyes and some of them close to me (my uncle) who just sold a good plot of a land he received from his father after he died. Self discipline is very important, yes. But it's not too hard is you painted this. A gambler will come to his right senses the day he starts to analyse his bet history. You can only gamble if you have funds but you come back to your senses once you blow it away on gamble, then you adjust with the way you gamble.

While I have never know someone that went that far because of his gambling problems I have been witness to some of those stories, when I used to gamble more regularly in physical casinos I realized after some time that I always saw the same people and after a little bit of research I discovered they were always at the casino and spent any money they had available, one day one of the regulars did not show up and I asked why and I was told that he was arrested for fraud, for a moment I went blank since I could not believe that such a nice guy could do that, but that is what happens when you lose control of your gambling habit.

Controlling ourself is not really easy especially if you're in the middle of the game and the situation is giving you excitement or pressure to win. Having a set capital to spend is a good practice to prevent ourselves spending too much of what supposed to. Perhaps you can perevent that if you limit yourself before you gamble. For instance, divide your budget you can afford to lose wethere if it's anually, monthly, daily, weekly or whatsoever. Play at small time thus even though you get tempted to risk all, it's fine because we are just humans in which we tend to use our emotion rather than our mind.

We should make it compulsory to make our mind to plan for the gambling. Going without any plan can give you a lot of loss. I have seen and heard people becoming bankrupt because of gambling and some even commit suicide because they have no money left with them. There is a lot of temptation in gambling and therefore one must take precautions before playing.

Yes, winning excitements and losing frustrations are the core reasons why gamblers are unable to control their mind. It is just an emotional failed situation and we had lots of discussions here about how cruel emotional failure will lead to. Most of the time where people get out of control is they got already so attached with gambling. Greediness take over their minds that they can't think properly, they only want to win what they have lost. It's really effective to compose yourself before, during and after. Before gambling, set your limits. During, when you lose, try to calm yourself and stay concentrated on playing. Don't focus your attention on the money you have lost. After gambling, accept the result, whether you won or not.

suicide stories are real facts and not only made  up infact majority of them are always got featured on the national t.v or on radio's   . may these suicide stories give us a lesson that we shouldnt end up our live's because of this gambling mistake's  because every gamblers can still change at the end  . gambling with a control midset is always possible if we can organize oursleves ( e.g by putting timers , setting aside eneough money ,etc ) by doing these simple things , we cant indulge ourselves to play more  .

Personally I battle fear and emotion when gambling however since I changed my mindset to gambling with the amount of money I can afford to loss then I overcome those fears, i.e mindset controlled  I just gamble for fun now knowing fully well that whatever money I made from it is extra income to buy some little stuffs I also took time to analyze my bettings just to avoid betting blindly although it is a 50:50 chance nevertheless I play it with a set rules.

I wonder if "most" gambling sites allow people to gamble with bot. Ofcourse, I know people bet with bot on regular basis, but my point is to see if addicts can be encouraged to play with bot  while they rest for sometimes and allow their bodies to heal from the addition.

Most of individual has no self control, we all know that having a self control is really hard to obtain especially when you enjoy yourself and you're trying to achieve to win. It is a fact that you will be tempted to gamble if you see some fancy odds but then again you can control the amount of money you are willing to risk, i am not a big risk taker when it comes to gambling and i will never spent more money for my leisure but there is nothing wrong in wagging small amounts which i usually does and majority looses their money thinking about making a profit, i never consider these as a quick rich scheme.

This is what I'm doing when I decide to put some of my funds to gamble. Before I'm doing it, I will put my mind to a mindset that I will loss all of my funds. This will not work to other people but that worked for me. Yes I lose most of the time but still I controlled myself by not reacting anything as I lose my money into gambling. I'm still ok and will feel the same either I win or lose. That is how I think.

A chronic gambler will not commit suicide even if they lose a huge amount I read a story where a gambler loses millions of dollars and yet continues to live, as though nothing happens.

This is very important the urge to gamble will only be there if you don't have something to get busy in, like a business, a family a religious or anything that is interesting to you that is much better than gambling.

Is there any therapy services that offers that kind related with gambling addiction? Well, I don't thinks so, and  If I were to advice this certain problems that needs to be resolve seriously, limiting ourselves over gambling cannot be done that easy. Because when a person choosed to stop or limit himself, therapy is useless and will cost you huge amount of money. Every gambler who've already addicted, needs to seek any diversions of activities in many ways, that can be famlily time, events and anything that rehabilitates a person discreetly.

You cannot control your mindset if your greediness is stronger than your dedication on controlling what you want to control, you'll always lose if you are not going to be honest to yourself, another factor that affects people in gambling that destroys their focus is their adoration about money. Those individuals who worships money are the worst gamblers, even not gamblers.

Why? it is simply because they are willing to risk everything just to get the money they want, they are even willing to offer their life on it, like borrowing money on loan sharks knowing that they could be killed if they couldn't pay their debt on time.

Every money is hard earned certainly. There is nothing wrong with gambling but no penny should be considered as free one because this is impossible to get cash without working hard for it. Basically the reason is because we want to get back the lose that we've had when playing, for me, my experience in gambling especially when I don't stop is because I lose, to the point that I want to stop but I am still thinking of ways how get my funds back so I continue playing.
