Title: Help me translate my best posts in your Local Board
Post by: fillippone on March 06, 2020, 12:45:29 AM
I am a strong believer in the utility of local boards.
I am lucky enough to be able to express myself in at least a couple of languages, but I know this is not the case for everyone.
A lot of users post only in the local boards because of a variety of reasons  either language or cultural barriers, lack of interest or whatever other reason.
I personally know a lot of very good users (from the italian sections mainly, for obvious reason) who doesn't post in the international sections.

I think all those users they are missing a lot of good contents posted on the international (english) section or on other boards.

My first "important" thread is actually translation from English to Italian of a very nice
guide to setup a Bitcoin full node on a Raspberry (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5092648.msg49026596#msg49026596). I had a very nice feedback on this, because a lot of people simply, didn't look at content in other languages or they felt they weren't proficient enough on another language to embark on a simple, but long technical process.
On the back of this experience I also translated in the italian board a few other posts I felt were useful, like the LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5043394.msg52756616#msg52756616).
All this reasoning was meant to justify the fact  I think the translation of posts is something very useful to help spreading the knowledge.

So I used the @ddmrddmr Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard (https://public.tableau.com/profile/ddmrddmr#!/vizhome/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/GlobalSummary) to look at my most merited posts (the ones which got more than 50 merits) and I am posting here, so you can read them, and, if you like, translate them in your local board.

There are only a few rules:

Just stick to forum rule:
  • 27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed.
Don't use GT to translate in your language. I carefully crafted my post: I don't want them to be ruined using the cheap syntax and dictionary choices of GT. Take your time, understand, learn and then translate. No hurry.

  • 33. This includes both copying parts or the entirety of other users' posts or threads and copying content from external sources (e.g. other websites) and passing it as your own.
Just include a clear reference to the fact the content you are posting is a translation of an article of mine and also provide a link to my original post. This is enough. As a courtesy I will link your translation in the below table.

Lastly, not a forum rule, but a couple of gentleman agreement:
  • just remember I am here to help you. In case of doubt, just drop me a DM, I will try to help you with the matter.
  • Everyone who is going to translate any topic should make an announcement on this thread beforehand to avoid any confusion. As a fist step everyone should check the OP and previous announcements to check in how many languages the article have been already translated or it is going to be translated. Doing translation is a complex, time consuming and requires a considerable effort. Doing the same translation means double work and I hate the double work.
  • RULE UPDATE
In order to speed up the update process, please submit the notice of the translation in the following format:

Polish Translation by cygan (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=27470): 5 sposobów informowania zwykłych konsumentów o Bitcoinie (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5462512.0)

    Customise where necessary.

      BONUS:
This is a tricky one. Translating this thread means also finding good resources in your own language. This might prove hard, but it is crucial to spread the knowledge of Bitcoin in your national community.

I will do my best to translate it on my own language. Will update you here once its done. Thank you so much.

I am a strong believer in the utility of local boards.
Locals will be inspired by translations from excellent original threads that you actually have. Some of locals (especially in some nations) don't know English or have below average reading skill so good translations will help them.

Then, when they recognise the value of the forum, they will grow up and who knows they will be a future of our forum. Translations can play as a carrot to kick off their journeys here.

This is actually the main point of the whole thing.
Bitcoin is a difficult subject per se, easing unecessary barrier is a welcome things for many potential user.

I’d be interested in the reverse. What great threads am I missing out on because they aren’t in English?

OF course translation is working both ways.

If you see a good thread in your local board you should translate into the Elgish section.
Something I was thinking to do with this one from the italian board, for example:

curve ellittiche e algoritmo ECDSA (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1339031.0)

    EDIT:
Actually @zasad@ translated one of my posts from the italian board to the russian one (totally skipping the International Board!)

    • Comprare Bitcoin senza KYC: Bitcoin Bancomat a Milano rispettoso della Privacy (from Italian) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5219223.msg53656206#msg53656206)

That gives me some inspiration to translate in my local language (not part of the major boards). I could give the smartband thread a try, and thanks to you, I discovered there's a (stickied) Malaysian thread after all these years!

EDIT: I noticed I'm unable to create a thread because no new posts could be made except inside the thread itself, which would eventually be buried :/

Hello mate. Apology if it took a while before I can finish the translation. The terms and explanation is quite technical and more on financial aspect which is hard to convert literally on our own language and needs attention and vivid understanding to not destroy its meaning. I am still confuse with some terms but I tried very best to come up with a good explanation. Though is much simple when you doing the actual trading on exchange based on this. ZaraCB, there is no need to actually translate the sites mentioned by fillippone in his topic, lol. That would also mean to create new sites, nobody can ask you that.
What you need to do is the following: instead of the sites mentioned by fillippone asresources, you should find some sites (resources) in your language and mention these ones in your translated topic instead. Practically, you should change any site mentioned by fillippoone (for example: Binance Academy) with a link from a site from Bangladesh or whatever is the language of the translation. Of course, a site related to Bitcoin.

Recently I managed to finish also the last translations remaining from OP (in Romanian):

    - Everything you wanted to know about BTC options but were afraid to ask (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5214418) <=> Tot ce voiai să știi despre opțiunile BTC dar îți era teamă să întrebi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240078.msg54211736#msg54211736)
    - Stock-to-Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191012) <=> Modelul Stoc-Flux: Evaluând Bitcoin Bazat Pe Raritatea Sa (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240314.msg54217667#msg54217667)
    - Comprare Bitcoin senza KYC: Bitcoin bancomat a Milano rispettoso della Privacy (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5219223) <=> Cumpără Bitcoin fără KYC: ATM-ul Bitcoin din Milano care respectă anonimitatea (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5242110).

It's been a great challenge to finish all the topics suggested by fillippone and I'm so glad I made it!

Now, after finishing all the six topics, I can say the following:
    - all of them are very well documented and there's a lot to learn from each of them. Although I knew a part of the information, I did not know all the content stated in each topic, thus it was a great opportunity for learning many new things from fillippone!
    - for those interested to translate these topics in their own language, Comprare Bitcoin senza KYC: Bitcoin Bancomat a Milano rispettoso della Privacy (from Italian) and #meritislife: how to be notified on a smartband of merits and mentions are the easiest to be translated
    - 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin is also easy to be translated but, as fillippone already said, it is tricky: the hard part is to find Bitcoin-related sites in your languages and to insert them in the translation instead the existing one; the rest of the topic is easy to be translated
    - Everything you wanted to know about BTC futures but were afraid to ask!, Everything you wanted to know about BTC options but were afraid to ask! and Stock To Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity are the most difficult to be translated (and also the longest ones: they have, in this order, 3800 words, 4300 words and 2800 words). For those interested in translating these topics I advise to proceed with great caution. Although I knew most of the terms, I did not know them all (nor in English, nor in Romanian). Therefore I had to study, to understand the meaning. I had to make deep researches on the Internet in order to properly understand the meaning of the terms (mostly economic terms, but not just economics - in the topic related to BTC futures there is a long paragraph with technical terms from oil industry, for example; I never heard before about "Reid vapor pressure" or "Saybolt Universal Seconds"). After understanding the terms in English, I had to find proper translations in Romanian. Being technical terms, some of them are used in Romanian as in English (example: put / call options); some of them had specific translations though. You have to make sure that you understand all these terms and that in your language exists or not specifics words for the technical terms (stock to flow, call, put, long, short, strike, spot etc.). These three topics only took me about ~30h of work, necessary for the translation per se, but also for research on the Internet and research for terms in my own language.

Due to the above mentioned details, in order to make sure you'll perform a correct translation, you need first to make sure that you really understand the terms.

I hope these thoughts will help all the future translators.

Thank you once again fillippone for this great challenge! It's been an honor!

Been there done that. Actuallt all those resources by fillippone is really outstanding topics. I did once of his created topic but it took me more than a week to cover translation on my own language, cause in doing translation, you might need to have some knowledge on what you are translating and the hard part there is doing it on your own languge.

This is correct. Having no idea with the works your translating will lead to a worse translation. Damn, your so hard working mate, I only did one but my head aching much already. Haha

@ZaraCB - we appreciate the effort, but do it well and dont think about the rewards of merits from this. With or without it, If you really concern on doing this, you must study the topic and do it with your best shot. How can you help your local language if they will be just confuse with it?

I believe you, cryptoaddictchie. If you remembers, I estimated initially it will take me 1 week to finish all the translations.

Hello fillippone! I'll translate in Romanian all your topics written in English. I hope to finish by the end of next week.

But I was wrong. The first translated topic in Romanian was on March 10th (I believe I started working on it on the same day or 1 day before) and the last one on April 20th. So it actually took me not a week, but a month and 10 days. Working hours though (meaning the actual labor) were around 30 or so for the difficult topics and probably another 10h for the other three.

Indeed, fillippone's materials are outstanding. It would be a great loss in case they wouldn't be translated in an accurate (and also idiomatic) manner. That's why I spent all this time: to make sure the work is thorough, as I'm sure you did as well. I encourage you to keep going with the other topics! Your people will certainly thank you.

Everyone understands English and most of the people translate into English you would like to know before you'll translate any language attempt to understand by looking well before you'll translate I even have not heard of any such local board where translation are often done.

    Good Day fillippone,

Stock-to-Flow Model: Pag-aaral sa halaga ng bitcoin gamit ang limitadong supply (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5244955.0)

Above link is the translation of your post about Stock-to-Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191012.0) in our Pilipinas Local Section. I hope that I made some valuable impact to your vision of how important translating your post in every local section.

I admit that I learned a lot from your post and I am very grateful about it. Imagine that you made me watch a lot of video resources and listened to a few podcast every night regarding Stock-to-Flow Model.

Here are some of the realization and disciplined I got in translating one of your posts.
    - I understand now the basic concept of stock and flow and how it can affect the the price in the next coming years.
    - The linear regression of log peaked my interest to deeply study the calculation of bitcoin pricing. I will further study this topic since it confuses me a lot. It's like noodles inside my brain ;D
    - Thanks you for clarifying what is the idea of this phrase. "is halving priced in?" I learned a lot and made my translation simple and easier.
    - Additionally, the term "unforgeable costliness" makes it difficult for me to translate in our language but fortunately, when you gave me a hint thru PM, it gave me an idea on how to explain it clearly without altering the concept.

Thank you so much @fillippone for giving me the permission to translate one of your great post. ;)

Nicely done @Maus0728, I feel like I could understand now better this topic if I read your superb translation. At first I am insisting to do this but when I read the topic its somehow needed a huhe understanding and time to dig in some terms. But I admire that you managed to translate it on our language. To be honest I am not so good on Tagalog grammar and translating this would give me a lot of headache.

The topics focus on limited supply and how it affects the price based on broad factor. But when I read the original post of Filippone, I admit I just understand 70% of the whole post but Im not saying the post is not good its just too technical for me to easily grasp basic trading terms which are new to me.

    Hi again fillippone,

I really liked your article about the Mention and Merit Bot on the smartwatch I had to translate to the german section and order myself one of the watches. Haha.

#meritislife: Erwähnung und Merits auf deinem Smartwatch erhalten (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5246800)

I gotta say you really made my choice on which smartwatch to buy pretty easy. I have been on this board for a while but just recently found it again and decided to be active.
The mention Bot portion of it makes it very interesting to make sure that no questions/answers  that are related to me go unanswered.

How come I didn’t update the OP?
Well, please notify of your translation, because I could miss the notification and forget to add them here!
I am sure I missed one of the thread above.
    Thank you @Ratimov

I was not aware about this article:
Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5256529).

@fillippone: is this article also a part of the topics you want to have translated in other languages? I'm asking because I knew I translated all the topics mentioned in OP, but this one is not mentioned there. Besides, it also doesn't have the ending part written in all the other topics meant for being translated (the part with "Help me translate this topic in your language").

If you need this topic translated as well, I'd suggest to add it also to the OP :) In any case, please let me know. I'd like to translate it in Romanian too.

    Well,
when I started this thread I thought to submit  only thread with a certain amount of merit (100 I think).
So this post is not eligible (yet).

Apart from that, you don't need my permission to translate a post in your board if you think it is useful! Just do, and please follow the usual rule of clearly stating it is a translation of a post of mine.

Also, if you like, you can notify me of your work, so you are sure it doesn't get lost in the notification flow and it is properly reported for all to see!

So, if you like that post and you wish to translate it, please do, don't wait for my approval!

I just finished translating fillippone's latest topic added to OP, Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5256529). As usual, it is very interesting to read his analysis and a great opportunity to learn new things.

I also take this opportunity to bring a heads-up to other translators about the difficulty in translating this topic.

    [...]
Now, after finishing all the six topics, I can say the following:
Comprare Bitcoin senza KYC: Bitcoin Bancomat a Milano rispettoso della Privacy (from Italian) and #meritislife: how to be notified on a smartband of merits and mentions are the easiest to be translated

In addition to my previous heads-up, "Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask!" follows the same line as the other three difficult topics ("Everything you wanted to know about BTC futures but were afraid to ask!", "Everything you wanted to know about BTC options but were afraid to ask!" and "Stock To Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity"). The topic is long (it has ~3900 words) and uses technical terms specific to trading and economics. It took me more than 10h for translating it, making sure not only that the translation is correct and complete, but also idiomatic. The topic refers to some parts of the other three articles, therefore it would be easier for any translator if he would translate first the other topics and only afterwards to work on this one.

This way, the translator would (1) get accommodated with the terms, (2) get accommodated with the translation of the terms in his / her mother language and, as a consequence (3) the translation of this last topic would be a bit easier. Not easy, but easier :)

I hope the above hints will help the other translators and it will ease their work.

    • Everything you wanted to know about BTC futures but were afraid to ask!  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5188060.msg52572357#msg52572357)
Can i translate this one to my local board (Indonesia)? Once a week I post a BTC movement analysis (link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2874360.msg54781065#msg54781065)). There is a question from one of the members on our local board about futures. He was surprised, why in futures by only issuing 100 USD(T), you can already have 1 bitcoin. Even though the price of 1 bitcoin in (for example) binance  is around $ 9200 (rate based on the date this post was made). And by chance, I found your thread was discussing about futures. Maybe when I publish the translated thread in our local board, there will be some modification.Especially  the risks that will arise when we do trade in futures.

Hey @fillippone I finally managed to translate your topic, Stock-to-Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191012.msg52690215#msg52690215/) to Croatian language.

Happy that I managed to do it , although it required sweating and lots of hours, coffee, cigarettes and a bit of headache I admit. It was exactly like @GazetaBitcoin said in his post above, had to read around the web to learn more about the specific things in the topic, to make sure that translation has a proper flow and meaning does not get obfuscated. Some terms were simply better to be left of as they are in English then to be translated, as that would create more problems as Croatian language also does not have good translation for certain things, not widely accepted or understood at least.

First one down, 4 more to go :D

This is the only things that is kinda funny :

@GazetaBitcoin I wish I had red your advices before I completed the work  ;D ;D  It would've prepared me better and save me some time, but I did all the things you did anyway so all good. I appreciate your post despite I saw it a bit late :D

Here is the link to my translation:

Hehe, congrats -CryptoViking-! And about my advice -- it's good though that you read it later than never :) There are still some difficult topics to be translated, if you want to translate them all - the one about BTC Options, the one about BTC Futures and the one about Grayscale.

Now that you finished this one, you know what to expect from the remaining ones. Brace yourself with patience, as you'll certainly need it and don't expect to finish translating the other topics in 30 minutes or so. It will take a lot of time, but it'll worth it, as you'll also learn new things!

Thanks m8 I appreciate your input and advice seeing that it’s coming from experience. I do plan to translate them all indeed, one per week or slower, but I’ll get there!

Learning along is great and I didn’t mind reading extra to be able to translate it faithfully and in the spirit of Croatian language.

My advantage is that I love linguistics and learn languages fast so it is also a pleasure too.

Plus, I have some journalism experience as I was editor for music and film section, for a certain period of time, at one of the Croatian radio stations. So I consider words and language as my fellow companions.

However, I myself havinf difficulty in using the English language so I just leave it there in our local board. Good!
Greek would be a nice addition to the list.
Yes, that thread is in italian, as it got enough merits to be eligible for a translationh. Even if the thread is about an ATM in Italy, it spurred a few privacy-related discussion on the boards where it was translated.

That's nice but the problem is that I don't know Italian, so if I want (or somebody else) to translate it, I can't. ;D

Thanks m8 I appreciate your input

    No worries :)

By the way - for this particular topic - Stock-to-Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity - you can make some double checks for your translation in a very simple manner: inside the topic there is a list of its translations in many languages (including Croatian). These translations are posted on medium. You can check for some words inside the Croatioan medium post, if you want, if you are unsure about how you translated a particular word.

Of course, this can be used by anyone translating this topic, in a language where it already has a translation on medium. For example, I used the Romanian translation from medium when I translated this topic.

In your case, I believe that inside the Croatian post from medium you could find some expressions, for example a Croatian expression for Stock-to-Flow.

    I hope this helps :)

Thank for the input. I did check the article and red it, but I didn't translate certain things on purpose as I believe that translation is not that good to be honest for this situation and environment. Really think that stock-to-flow translation if coined into Croatian would needed to be used for a while before it would sound "okayish" to the masses. Most people use English terms for that kind of specialized terms in specific sectors.

I do understand what your intention is though, I used 2 dictionary's and combed through a lot of phrases to try to find a solution that it already at least close to widely accepted to no avail, with lots of other terms too, but decided against it after all.

I checked you Romanian one too and it is a bit easier situation since flow translates into FLUX, so it seems it is quite natural translation, which in Croatian, situation is a bit more comlplex.

At some point in text for example:

Stock is translated into one word and I translated it, because it fits the context, while in some other spots I did not as the context is completely different and that translation is not correct so it serves the article better if it's not translated at all.

Please don't misunderstand me about the suggestion, -CryptoViking-, it was just a suggestion in case you (or others as well) have some difficulties with S2F topic. It was sort of heads-up that anyone trying to translate it can get some help from the medium articles contained inside the topic :) But of course, there is the chance for those very translations to not be the best ones, as it happened with "stock-to-flow" expression itself, in Croatian.

And yes, you are right about some terms which are used in other languages as they are in English. I remember that for the other topics I translated, while I was documenting the terms to see if they had Romanian equivalents, I reached some books used at the Romanian Academy for Economics, which is the most reputable university here. And some terms were used in English. Therefore I used them in the same way.

@fillippone, I think This Guide will help a lot of newcomers and also intermediate-level people. Thank you very much you took the good initiative and allow people to Translate this Great guide for their local boards. If you visit the Local board often, You will see a lot of Questions raised by newbies. They ask a lot of things about bitcoin but the reality is most of the member doesn't reply to them just because they are newbies. This is true that when you will give a lot of effort to writing a good post and only newbies read that, You won't get merited. I think this is the only reason why newbies don't get their questions answer. If your board has few High-rank members, Then the case is a bit different. If you write a good post on the local board, Your Other good ranked local board mate will appreciate your post. But, If there are only a few people. Your post won't be appreciated. This is the reason why people don't contribute to their local board. I think Our Merit source Members should visit Local boards more Often and take a look.

Thank you again. So nice of you. I apologize for keeping the title the same. I just changed the title and here it is  "বিটকয়েনের ৫ টি রিসোর্স || যা জানা জরুরি". You can update it if you want.

I was trying to translate all of those into your eligible thread. But, look like I can't. Here is why, I think, To translate something, I should have knowledge about the specific field. Since most of them are technical analyses, and I don't have knowledge of that. I won't take a risk in translating it. Because if I translate something that I don't understand. I will not be able to explain them and people won't understand me. If I can learn those things in future. I will try to contribute. I saw a few people trying to translate the topic with help of GT. And they did it just to get some merits or just for a few activities. They Should Understand that you cannot explain something you don't understand.

    Thanks again :)

    That’s the correct approach.
Everyone should contribute in their own way, without feeling “obliged” or “taking the risk” doing something.
Thank you very much for what you have done.

I have a new thread that might be worth translating, as it got a decent success:

Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389446.msg59506339#msg59506339)

I already worked out the translation for the Italian Board: (actually the English version is the translation of the Italian one):
[GUIDA] Backup Fisico della propria SeedPhrase su rondelle (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5388917.0)

    Who wants to help me?

We do make good use of English, but speak vernacular ( Local Slangs ), so in short, I'm translating to pidgin.

My dear fillippone, the translation is (finally) done! Here it is: Securizarea Seed-ului cu Șaibe (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5398891.0).

I am sorry for being (so) late (perhaps I took the habit of tardiness from Supreme Leader of Thick-Skinned ones?  ::)) but, at least I managed to finish. For amusement purposes, I can say that I still finished the translation during a weekend, as I wrote above. So the inconsistency is only regarding which weekend, but not also about doing it in a weekend :)

Excepting these, your topic, as usual, offers a lot of useful information! Congrats for writing it! I am more than pleased for having the honor to present it to Romanian side of the forum as well.

This is the first time I bumped into this thread, I can say that this is really a nice idea. I had plans even before to translate some good and very helpful threads from the English board to our Local board (Pilipinas) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=219.0) as it will help the board to be more active and of course get a very good constructive thread.
I'll be translating some of your threads later. For now I need some time to finish my academics and then I will help spread your words.

My dear fillippone, as promised, I delivered :) Again, I am sorry for the big delay.

I finally finished checking also the Italian version of the topic and I sent you a nice and thorough PM with all the typos I encountered. I hope this helps. Sadly, due to lack of (better) knowledge of Italian language, my check covered only visual typos (missing dots, small inconsistencies, spacing issues etc.), but even so, I hope that you will be pleased by the results.

Of course, in case you decide to add any other topic within this one, looking to have it translated, you can count of me.

Just saw you translated version of @fillippone's post of securing seed washers and it seems impressive to me although i don't understand the language but from the visual perspective it looks you have done a great job as this one was quite detailed one thread and that's why it might have delayed you but as the original author quoted:

Thank you for the words of appreciation! Much appreciated, to say so :) It's not the difficulty of the topic what delayed me, but some extra activities from real life, which took me more than I was expecting... The topic itself it's not too difficult to translate, but it's very long, and it takes several hours to translate it entirely...

Yes, in case you really do a thorough job, it takes time... Maybe the most difficult part, at any such work, is to do an idiomatic translation. Knowing the foreign language is a part -- maybe most important one; but, in order to have a valuable translation, you also have to do it based on the idiom of your own language. And that's the tricky part...

So keep it up and you might get new topic soon from our bitcoin geek @fillippone ;D

I'm always looking forward for another one :) I'm fillippone No. 1 fan! If you take a look at OP, you will notice that I am the only user which managed to translate all fillippone's topics! :)

Yeah we all have our personal life apart from the forum also and we need to spare time for it also so there are sometimes delay in some work so i know this fact. But ofcourse this is lengthy job as you need to translate such detailed threads in local languages without any mistake.

Yes, in case you really do a thorough job, it takes time... Maybe the most difficult part, at any such work, is to do an idiomatic translation. Definitely giving out the thread it's own personal taste of that local language in which you are translating is must as readers must feel that related to them completely not a mere google translation. This is hardest part and I have also done it in my work so know it's importance.Whenever we read some threads in our local language if it has idiomatic part then we feel related to it so it's all dependent on the author so you have done good job in that one for sure.

I'm always looking forward for another one :) I'm fillippone No. 1 fan! If you take a look at OP, you will notice that I am the only user which managed to translate all fillippone's topics! :)
That's the good part that you are always the first one to offer your service and make his threads reach more local boards and make them aware about it.So whenever there's thread from @fillippone you are ready to translate it.

    Hi fillippone,

I've come to find interest in your initiative. You spoken quite a number of languages through these translations and communicated in a handful of local boards on the forum. I would like you to speak to my people too in our Nigerian Pighin language, to teach to them in a language that we all understand and its both friendly and very welcoming too. Therefore, I would be doing a translation on this thread and I can say i'm already working on it, it's sure to hit the forum later today. In the mean time, "I dey grit u" meaning "greetings to you"!

It was a wonderful exercise, not the less stressful but it all came down beautifully.

    Good morning Mr. Fillippone
Thank you for bringing out the talent in some users. Most of the users can't use their native language (L1) to write but they can use it to speak and with this your translation challenge. Most users now can use it to write.

Nigerian Pidgin, Pijin or Brokun language is a combination of the indigenous languages with British English.
Therefore, with your request to traslate the best topics of yours, I want to join the contest. I will still translate one of the out listed threads.

    Good day, Fil!

I'm planning to translate the untranslated thread available on the first thread but I saw some users that already post above their interest in translating your thread. So I'm just worried that I might duplicate the translation that he is doing. I'm planning to translate this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.msg51545936#msg51545936 to Filipino translation since it will be very useful to my fellow Filipino users. I'm suggesting having a spreadsheet to see who already reserved the translation for the specific thread.

I'm very happy to help you spread your useful translation in my country.   ;)
It's good that you also want to translate the topic in your local language and help the members gain additional information through our bitcoin geek's thread and he will surely tell you about the same.

But frankly saying the topic you have mentioned about resources to learn about bitcoin is one of my favourites topic by @fillippone as it covers most of the basic things a newbie needs to get himself acquainted with bitcoin and that also through legit soruces.I have mentioned this in many threads to newbie who ask for guidance related to bitcoin.I am also motivated with his thread and working on one of the similar thread and will post whenever it's done.So best of luck and hope you translate it good if you get chance.

I think setting up a spreadsheet might be too much.
At the end of the day, I think we can work in a decentralised way, reading who's working on what and eventually sending a few PMs I think every problem can be solved.

So the longer you take to start, the longer it takes to finish up. @CryptopreneurBrainboss already created a thread where different topics in English have been translated to the different languages we speak in Nigeria. You can check it out here and follow the instructions there too - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5399898.0. Wishing you the best.

My dear fillippone, amico mio, I see that your topic still gets traction and, even more, it gets more and more traction. Observing this, if I am allowed, I'd recommend you to add more topics of yours to OP, in order to be translated. Your wisdom should be shared more and more with local communities.

Please let me know what you think.

And, of course, if you decide to do it, you can count on me for having translated in Romanian all the additional topics. After all, I am the only one which translated all your topics from OP in a foreign language (excepting the fact that I am yout number 1 fan) :)

    Gazeta,
thank you for the kind words.
Of course, you have to take my thread list as a suggestion.
I only tried to select the threads with more merits and with a more "global" scope (I think there is little interest in translating elucubrations about an Italian hydroelectric-powered mining farm!)
    But I could be wrong!

It seems good work to me although I am not familiar with the local language but you see the first impression states that it has the touch of the pidgin language and will help the members to have the exposure about greyscale investment in depth. So keep this translation work to help the useful thread reach to those who are unaware about these.

Finally I have completed the task. I have translated one of the thread in my local board. Although it took me one month plus to translate the thread because of other engagements, I was busy that there was no time use my PC to do the work and PC (Personal computer) is the best way to translate the thread because it is wide and convenience to use but just that it not mobile like mobile phone. And I can't take my computer to my working place so to complete the work was difficult for me to complete and also light was one of the issue or challenges I face in the process. But all thank to God. I completed it today.

This is the link from my local board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5399898.msg60510058#msg60510058

I have no problem adding your translation to the OP but please next time try to coordinate, posting an "announcement" thread about which post are you going to translate, in order to avoid duplicated work.
From next time I will carefully evaluate the situation and only translation per language will be allowed.

The same translated article was just one post above and he should have taken a look on the same page but as he said he might have overlooked it and posted his work and now have made announcement here about his translation.

So make a rule that every member who is going to translate any of your topic should make an announcement on this thread beforehand to avoid any confusions and they should be looking at the @OP to check in how many languages the article have been already translated as it's lot of work and double work should be avoided.

So, You are from Bangladesh, Where Bitcoin is illegal at this moment. I don't think this translation will help your community since that ATM is unavailable in your country. I know a lot of people still use Bitcoin there. But, I don't think Bitcoin ATM will be there anytime soon. I don't want to explain or assume why you have translated it because I know fillippone has a better IQ than me. As I can see, You have already achieved what you wanted to achieve.

FYI, Using an automatic translator to translate any thread is not allowed by the forum (not 100% sure) and this author too. Since you don't know the Italian Language, It wasn't a good move. Please translate his Useful English threads by yourself; that would be great.

Bitcoin information is needed everywhere. The internet is major tool of spreading Bitcoin education to different part of the world. We need these vital information to get to many people, hence different language translations are needed. The banning of Bitcoin in Bangladesh doesn't stop people from learning because one day such ban can be lifted. We also have people from Bangladesh around the world that can benefit from this translation. Bitcoin forum is not only for members, visitors also gather information from this platform. Hence, he/she should be given the privileged to embark on the noble task of translating the priceless masterpiece.

This is correct. Using GT for translation is not allowed in the forum for translation services.
Also, as I said here on this thread, the thread he translated is very specific on a particular ATM service that is present in Italy and other several european countries. I would expect a translation only for any country where that service is present.

That's true I missed some part of your explanation. Please accept my apology. Your comments were very valid. Keep it up.

Moreover I would say that GT is not appropriate for big thread translation as it messes up the whole sentences and you have to rearrange them accordingly which makes no sense and if you have taken up the translation work you must be familiar with the language to mark the mistakes and present it correctly for the readers and done with efforts of your own.

As usual excellent work by @GazetaBitcoin in translating the thread with that local touch even though I can't understand the language but it seems good efforts again.

But @fillippone your first link is actually directing towards the stock-overflow model so replace the original thread link with this one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5147514.0)

So I see this thread is also going well with members contribution and spreading your post to different boards giving them access to knowledge on various topics so best of luck to you man as well for creating more topics in future.[/list]

You previously stated that you would work on adding more threads for translation; we have been waiting to translate your good threads to our local communities, but no thread has been added to be translated.
Should we keep waiting while you work on it?

You can translate whatever post of mine.
I said in Op that I just wanted it to be useful to everyone (hence, the KYCless ATM thread is not eligible), and that have gathered at least 50 merits.

So, you can use the @ddmrddmr tool to determine which post/thread is eligible:

No need to wait for my approval.

Yes. Also don’t take the 50 merits as an hard limit, but as a guidance. You want to translate a post you think it is useful? Please do.
Just write here on the thread so we can coordinate the efforts.

It happens sometimes as you are currently engaged in so many different activities on the forum itself and IRL task as well which could make us do these little mistakes but you know there's always back support on the forum to correct and notice it ;)

Just write here on the thread so we can coordinate the efforts.
Yes they must clearly specify here that which thread they are going to translate so as to avoid any double efforts that we have seen last time and others can know which they can choose. But it's good that you are giving them open choice with 50 merits limit so that only the effective one's reach out to the mass.

So, you can use the @ddmrddmr tool to determine which post/thread is eligible:

The @DdmrDdmr merit dashboard is very much effective tool and we can tweak and optimise the search in many ways if we know how to do it but you have so many post with 50 above merit limit which is great and beleive how many others might be having the same stats?

As always, I am more than happy for being able to help. My biggest problem is lack of free time and, although I proposed myself to realize this translation since August, it seems that we arrived at end of September until it was finally done... Better later than never, I guess :)

Excepting that, if anybody else is interested in translating this topic, I'll have to give you a heads-up: thread is currently locked by mods, thus you can't quote it, in order to have the BBCode already prepared (by fillippone's original writing). Those interested in making this translation will have to write their own BBCode for the translation which is a bit more of work, indeed, but nothing not doable. The topic itself is very interesting and I was amazed to see all big numbers mentioned inside it. Therefore, I am also encouraging other users to try this translation, which requires just a bit more effort than the other topics.

His topics has always been interesting one and preety detailed one and when you are translating them there is a responsibility on you to have all the details in correct order as you are sharing information from them and it must be right.

But those are interested in translating the topic can take the help of this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5204486.0) to quote from the lock topic but it would be a work for newbies to handle all this but they can follow these guidelines for translation work to quote topic.

I admit that translating posts into local languages is not an easy job, therefore this work cannot be done by just anyone. In certain sections, every word or sentence must be carefully considered so that it is easy for local users to understand.
I'm very interested in translating your best posts into my local language (Indonesian), but I need some time to get started because I've never done it before.

And that local touch of the language is very necessary that he sparks in the translation of the threads giving readers a better understanding of the content.See I would say copying him exactly would be hard for those who are new and trying to translate the post but yes giving a view on his translated posts would be of much help to them.

Yes translation is not an easy task and especially for our Italian geek friend @fillippone with his long and detailed thread as it will take lot of time and efforts but if you want to give it a shot then you can surely do it but want to know it's your first translation that you are interested in? If yes then give some normal tries first hand and then move to the big topics so that you are portraying right information to the readers with you also having the same knowledge of local language.

Also specify in this thread beforehand which post you are going to translate and in which local language so that there is no confusion among members but take your time.

My dear friend, most likely, you earn merits in such a fast pace that you don't notice anymore when some of your topics become eligible to be listed here, based on the rule you stated above. I took a look over your topics and I think the following ones can now be added to the list:

Everything you wanted to know about ES Volcano Bond and were afraid to ask! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5377037.0)
Is Bitcointalk.org losing user base? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5349708.0)
      Lightning Network Observer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5348270.0)
Debunking the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster" argument (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5325350.0)
A Look at Innovation in Bitcoin’s Technology Stack [complete with references] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5207455.0)

Besides, this topic should be also eligible soon: Everything you wanted to know about a future Based ETF and were afraid to ask (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5374644.0).

Please let me know if you consider these topics feasible to be added to OP and, based on your decision, I will start soon working on them :)

Ahah my friend. Thank you for stalking my threads.

Regarding the eligibility for a translation, you are allowed to translate every post you deem it worth, you certainly don’t need my agreement to do so. Provided you follow the rules regarding clearly linking my original post, of course.

As per your request, I think some posts are more useful to be translated than a others. Post with “global audience”, with “static” content, and with local language  material can be more usefully translated.

The ideal post to translate it would be the one about debunking the environmental impact of bitcoin, provided you can find enough material in the local language.
Also the thread on ES bond could be interesting, if it were still “alive” as a topic.
As opposed , the lightning network observer I think it is a little bit too “chatty” to be translated.

      Hihi!

Regarding the eligibility for a translation, you are allowed to translate every post you deem it worth, you certainly don’t need my agreement to do so.

I know, but I was also thinking to give you a heads-up for which topics of yours became recently eligible for being added here to OP. I imagined that it's possible for you to not want to add them all, no matter the fact that they became eligible based on the 50 merits rule, therefore I wanted also to settle this first.

As per your request, I think some posts are more useful to be translated than a others. Post with “global audience”, with “static” content, and with local language  material can be more usefully translated.

Please let me also know your input for the remaining threads: the one about Bitcoin losing its user base, the one about innovation and also the one about ETF, although it's not yet eligible, as it did not receive 50 merits yet. But I'd like to know if you add this one to OP too, in case it'll receive 50 merits, thus I know from now if I should prepare to translate it too :)

I am also having the same thought that each thread which have more merits should not be translated into local language but the one which will serve a purpose to the audience of that local board.Like many of your threads are helpful to people in enhancing their knowledge about bitcoin and safety of funds like the seed washers which they also should have look upon and they need to be translated for them. This way the helpful threads by you will reach to them as members in this thread and @GazetaBitcoin are doing well but you mentioning this is appreciated.

It's been a huge work and I feel more than pleased to know that I managed to translate both of them. Each topic has 6000+ words, therefore the translations were very challenging. In the end, these two very well organized articles are available in Romanian language!

Thank you, fillippone, for all the support you gave me during the translations!
Although I don't understand the language but from the first impression it looks like you have done amazing job as usual. The translation is not easy when it consists of useful information that needs to be shared in the right manner with good choice of words but also that local essence that reader feel comfortable and understand it better. So well done again man.

Let me state here it wasn’t a long work because Gazeta was a lazy translator, but because he really wanted to make and exacptionally well written translation!
With you slacking he also might have taken this opportunity  ;D but he has done it before the next topic.

So when are we going to have another one of your detailed thread on some good topic so that more translations are on the way to reach local boards?

Yeah these two topics are new addition to the translation work so it must be reflected in the OP so that earlier confusions can be avoided of doing the same topic in same language. There are members who might not go through these posts above but can check the OP so he needs to update them.

Oh boy, it seems that cygan is in a translation spree mood: after translating 11 of my topics in Polish now he came also for fillippone's topics :)

Joke aside, I totally recommend him for his professional attitude and for all the efforts he does for such work. At same time, I have a recommendation for cygan: please be aware that fillippone's topics will be (way) more difficult to translate than mine. They are very long (most of them), having 4000+ - 6000+ words and they also include many technical aspects. For me, as I am also a dedicated translator, it was a great challenge to translate all fillippone's topics. They are very useful but it takes a lot of work for translating them (I can't even imagine how much time fillippone spent to write them) and the technical details may seem difficult here and there. Nevertheless, I encourage you to do it and I am sure you'll do a great job!

indeed, f1' topics are much more specific and also contain specific words throughout the texts. but that doesn't mean in any way that they are much more interesting than your GazetaBitcoin - it's just a different subject, which also needs a lot of attention. :)
as you mentioned, i try to translate all my translations (whether into polish or german) as carefully as i can. i read through everything 2-3 times to make sure it all makes sense.
but fillippone should not worry about my 'work' ;)

@fillippone and to all users who have translated his topics
since tonight all imgur links are no longer working and therefore all images (uploaded through imgur) that were then posted in the respective threads are no longer displayed. :-\
but if you open the respective link such as this one: https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/14/blobaf18dd3497be5b9d.jpeg (https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/14/blobaf18dd3497be5b9d.jpeg) in your browser, the image is displayed.
to fix the problem, so that the images are displayed again, the user joker_josue (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=97582) has created with his tool/website TalkImg a very good alternative, which i already use for a few days weeks without problems. :)

Post by: GazetaBitcoin on May 14, 2023, 01:56:33 PM
Dear fillippone, in case you are not aware, imgur will stop supporting images uploaded on our forum. There is a very short time frame until these images can be saved from imgur: the change will apply on May 15th (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5452415.msg62230551#msg62230551). So it's not just the fact that the pictures do not show on the forum anymore; imgur will also delete them.

As a consequence, after a tremendous effort, I managed to save all the images from my topics and re-upload them. Now all my topics contain visible images.

Among my topics there are also all the translations of your topics. Since I don't think you wish the save all your images from your topics one by one, then re-upload them then change all their links from inside your topics, you can simply take their URLs from my translations. I hope this helps.

There is only one picture which I can't access, from the topic Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389446.0). It's the image https://safu.ninja/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/safu0-2048x996.jpg. This one is not affected by imgur, but it just does not show up anymore. If you can fix it it would be awesome, as all the other images are secured now.

Now I'll try to fix as many images as I can from the other posts I made. But, at least, the images from the topics are fixed...

At least it'll be a shorter time than the time it was needed to save these images too...

However, I suggest you to start saving the images from the other topics you have... These ones are already saved by me and you can update their links anytime. But your other images, from other topics, are still in danger, if imgur will delete all these old images...

Besides, do you think you can also recover the image from Safu Ninja's website? That was the only one I could not retrieve, as I did not know where to search for it on that website.

As you may know, the topic 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.0) has been proposed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg62394152#msg62394152) for translation by the Alliance of Bitcointalk Translators [AOBT] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.0).

Everyone who is going to translate any topic should make an announcement on this thread beforehand to avoid any confusion. As a fist step everyone should check the OP and previous announcements to check in how many languages the article have been already translated or it is going to be translated. Doing translation is a complex, time consuming and requires a considerable effort. Doing the same translation means double work and I hate the double work.

I have checked the OP and previous announcements but I don't see any Spanish translation for said topic, so I hereby announce its reservation. As this is not a conventional translation and requires a preliminary analysis from various sources in local language, it will take a few days to be finished, but better take time and do it right.

Dear fillippone, I would like to translate the following topics into Spanish in the next two weeks:  There are 2^256 private keys out there: how big is that number? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5147514.0) and Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389446.0). I will start working on them in 48h if not told otherwise.

A couple of details I noticed:

      - In There are 2^256 private keys out there: how big is that number? the OP's link leads to the 2nd page instead of the 1st one. On the other hand, I think that you forgot to add a link to zasad@'s Russian translation; please, don't forget to add it when you update the list with cygan's translation.

      Dear fillippone,

I would like to help to translate some of ur posts for the German Local Board.
If its for okay u, I would start with a fairly well-known model, the  Stock-to-Flow Model: Modeling Bitcoin's Value with Scarcity  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191012)

According to your overview in the start post, this text hasn't been translated into German yet. I would start with it asap if nothing speaks against it.

This Thread Needs a long overdue update. I am going to update the OP with the leftover translation.
I know there are some of you who have been waiting for so long, and I am really sorry for that.

A couple of details I noticed:
      - In both topics some images are not displayed correctly.
      - In There are 2^256 private keys out there: how big is that number? the OP's link leads to the 2nd page instead of the 1st one. On the other hand, I think that you forgot to add a link to zasad@'s Russian translation; please, don't forget to add it when you update the list with cygan's translation.

I fixed the images where I could, as one of those two topic is locked, sadly. I also fixed the link in the op (thanks!), but I couldn't figure out which translation I missed!

EDIT: I think I caught up with the backload of translations. Just let me know if everything is ok!

Heads-up for those interested in translating fillippone's topic There are 2^256 private keys out there: how big is that number? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5147514):

As you probably observed, there is a corrupt image inside the topic and fillippone can not fix the image link, as the topic is locked. However, have no fear, Gazeta is here :) As I translated this topic long before the apparition of the issues with imgur links, I managed to add the image to the translated topic. After the forum did not display images from imgur I simply changed the link of the image, thus it is still shown in my topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5414568.0):

You can use the image link from above and add it to your translations. I hope this helps.

I will add this post to AOBT thread as well.

Hey fillippone! Perhaps it would be better to completely remove that topic from OP? This way, if it is not listed there, nobody would be tempted to translate it. Keeping it there, although you added that disclaimer, will not avoid this possibility. As you know, there are many users which don't properly read the content of a topic (I mean line by line) and they may miss your observation.

Another idea would be to list it at the bottom of the OP. This way it would draw less attention to those which do not properly read the OP line by line. This sounds like hiding this topic in plain sight, but it is an alternative from eliminating it from OP.

BTW, I will also edit this post with a screenshot of the next notification to my smartwatch so you can include it in the OP next to the other ones if you feel like it.

Edit: Done! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5229697.msg62586343#msg62586343) (Yes, I'm very hairy, but I'm not cold in winter :D)

I will finish #meritslife:... before the other one I previously reserved about securing the seed phrase with washers: I will need some more time to translate the latter, as it is longer and recent changes in my life reduced drastically my free time.

Please, also notice that There are 2^256 private keys out there: how big is that number was also translated into Spanish a few weeks ago, so you can update the list with: Hay 2^256 claves privadas: ¿Cómo de grande es dicho número? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5458233.0)

As always, you have sensible ideas.
      Thread removed.
I will reinstate it if something change on thei side.

I am more than glad to hear that my idea was helpful! Regarding the lattest part, I believe there are very low chances for shitcoins.club to remove KYC. In fact, I believe that all cash-in / cash-pit crypto ATMs will migrate to KYC, if they are not already applying it. I made some research at the beginning of the year and, in Romania, excepting the ATMs from BitcoinRomania (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5269642.0), all were using KYC. Some do not even exist anymore (like the ones from ProHash (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436474.0)) and the ones still functioning are using KYC (I mean the ones from ATM Bytes, BitMahavi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435693.0) and shitcoins.club (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5242110.msg61533909#msg61533909)).

However, even the ATMs of BitcoinRomania are soon to be doomed supposed to apply KYC (if they haven't already) as a new law was issued in Romania (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5453530.0), forcing all crypto ATM operators to apply KYC. Perhaps the most ridiculous part of this law is the one coercing crypto exchanges to use Romania bank accounts for performing their operations. This aspect is ridiculous because Romanian banks are not crypto friendly at all. All banks are closing the accounts of those using them for crypto incomes. So they are practically forcing crypto exchanges to have Romanian bank accounts while, at same time, banks are closing all the accounts involved in crypto incomes...

I will quote below how one of biggest banks in Romania treats its clients regarding crypto incomes and also a reaction of one client toward bank's abuses:

And, in case you still have doubts about what I described so far, the below screenshot proves the way one of Romania's biggest bank treats its clients:

Translated in English, it means the following:

      Quote
Within the business relation the bank has with its clients, the bank is forced to follow the laws related to knowing their clients with the purpose of preventing and combating money laundering, financing terrorism and for following the General Business Conditions (GBC) for the entire clients portfolio.

According to GBC, to the regulation 2/2019 of National Bank of Romania and the Law 129/2019, the client has the responsibility to provide the Bank all the documents requested by the Bank, which are needed for verification and clarification of the purpose and the nature of the recorded transactions. Through this document, we let you know that, after analyzing the transactions realized from your account, we decided the typology of these transactions breaks art. 23.1 from GBC, which states the following: "In case the Bank identifies potential risks or some requests coerced by financial institutions implied in banking operations, the Bank reserves its right to not allow transfers for transactions linked to services such as gambling, acquisition of pornographic services (including videochat or similar services), acquisition of weapons/munition without complying to the conditions stated by the law, transactions involving cryptocurrencies.

Below you can read the reaction of a client of the above mentioned bank. You may laugh, but the situation should be treated seriously:

Translated in English, it means the following:

      Quote
Subject: Justification signed by [...] in order to explain what I'm doing with my own money

I [...] being a client of the bank, I sign the present document being forced by the Bank, which invokes some internal regulations which are not against me, in order to coerce me to justify in front of the Bank what I'm doing with my own money.

Given the fact that it is summer and a period of vacation, considering it is also a post-quarantine period, I want very much to have fun. For doing so, I'll travel to Holland, where prostitution is LEGAL, in order to fu*k some whores. Most likely, on my way to Holland, I'll do the same in Austria and Germany.
Then, while being in Holland, given the fact that drugs are LEGAL, I intend to smoke some marijuana and hashish, but I'd also try some shrooms.
I heard they have some good marijuana cakes in Holland, and I also suggest you to try them, maybe you wake up and stop forcing people to sign stupid papers, based on stupid procedures, in order to justify to you what they're doing with their own money.
Obviously, if I won't have toilet paper, given the fact that I have so much money, maybe I'll fancy enough and I'll wipe my a*s clean with a few hundreds of euros, like rich men do.
The rest of the money is for lending them to my friends and for making useless expenditures, which I'll regret afterwards.

The quote was taken from my topic 12 years later and people still don't know to use Bitcoin nor what it's good for (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5310500) and, perhaps, time actually came for bitcoiners to make the final step against governments and start using Bitcoin in the was it was meant by Satoshi: fully peer-to-peer and anonymous!

cygan, I also like your flowery style! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5229697.msg61918120#msg61918120)

cygan is delicate like a flower!  ::)

I will finish #meritslife:... before the other one I previously reserved about securing the seed phrase with washers: I will need some more time to translate the latter, as it is longer and recent changes in my life reduced drastically my free time.

Securing the seed phrase with washers is longer indeed, but it's not that long though... it only seems very long due to its numerous images. However, it requires some more work than "#meritslife" topic. But the ones really hardcore are those from "Everything you want to know [...]" series and the one related to Stock-to-Flow model.

It's really good that you have taken the initiative to translate the original posts into your local language but you should first make a open statement here and announce which threads you are going to translate because it would avoid double works as we have seen in the past.Although pidgin translation is not there for this thread but be sure to ask first of all and declare your intentions for that particular language translation in advance for all others as well.

I don't think that is the problem in your case... It's just fillippone is very busy lately, from what I know. I also contacted him a few times and he told me he is very, very busy. So no, this is not "a lesson he's giving you". It's just bad timing (or so I believe).

However, regarding the approach of a translation, Hatchy is correct: it is totally decent and it has a lot of common sense to announce first. Maybe someone else did not announce through a post here that he is doing same translation -- maybe this user announced fillippone through a PM and he received fillippone's approval. In such case, your work would be in vain and frustration would also occur. Besides, I would also recommend to all translators to present the author a preview of their work before publishing it. Maybe the author has some comments or maybe he wants something changed. Maybe he spots some errors. In such cases, all these can be solved nicely and professionally, before the translation is published. Having it published then edited for correcting mistakes does not look good for the translator. And, using ninjastic.space all edits of a post can be seen. So I, from my perspective, would take this approach and this is also what I require to the users interested in translating my topics (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5379715.0).

      BONUS:
This is a tricky one. Translating this thread means also finding good resources in your own language. This might prove hard, but crucial to spread the knowledge of bitcoin in your national community.
Below my translation for the italian board (as I felt this compelling to be translated as soon as possible):

      • 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.msg51545936#msg51545936)
        ✂️

i hereby reserve this topic, which i would like to translate for the polish community in the next few days/weeks
it will certainly be a small challenge to find the respective sources also in the polish language :)

The translation into Spanish of the following thread is now finished and posted here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5462162.0), so you can update the list in the OP with the new link. BTW, there are a few images not displaying ATM, but I will try to rescue them and upload them to TalkIMG when I have a little more free time.

then i will help you on the way ;)
the male given name Philip/Fillipp comes from the greek. it derives from 'hilos' for 'friend' and 'hippos' for 'horse', so it can be translated as the 'horse friend'.
so then in your case: 'big horse friend' or in the italian languages to call a 'big ferraristi' ;D

While knowing you'll say again that I'm stalking your posts (which I do! O0), and based on your 50 merit criteria from OP for adding topics to be translated --

I was wondering if you consider this topic of yours to be suitable for being added to OP: NERDMINER: Bitcoin lottery miners (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5466940.0).

Yes mate, you can translate ops best post available for translation. So long you ask for his permission and check for available posts to translate.  If you are interested just make a request and follow the right format made by op.

I just reiterate something that I have already said.
      • Read the rules. They might be convolute, weird, tyrannical, or unjust, but those are the rules everybody in the thread must adapt to. My thread, my rules. Do you want to change it? Post a proposal, I might consider.
      • Just stop sending me PM asking for permission to translate a post. I will stop responding to them, and advertising translation done in this way. You don’t have to ask me permission, just just need to make everyone know you are working on something so that someone is working on something.

Even if many forum members in a local boards already know it but I think it's still useful because there could be a new forum member who recently joined the forum and from the same country so the fellow countrymen of that newbie can share the translated thread and can also be used as a reference if someone from that country wants to use it in his/her class about crypto. Let's say I started a group of people who wants to learn crypto then I can use the thread let's say this one 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.0) thread is translated to my local language and told them that if they also want to teach someone then they can use this thread to help them teach someone. I support it (lowering the barriers).

Thank you, as well. I will add to the OP as soon as you use the correct format.

It was interesting to translate, my pleasure!

Btw, do you talk of the following message about the format?

They look pretty different to me.
We don't need Gazeta's laser-focused eye to spot the differences between the two.
I'm sorry if I am so picky with this one, but it looks like no work. In reality, formatting is a lot of work (again, Gazeta knows).

I was also able to finish the Romanian translation of Giovanni Santostasi - The Bitcoin Power Law Theory (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5491011):

Romanian translation by GazetaBitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1285797): Giovanni Santostasi – Teoria Legii Puterii Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5494827).

The above thread is not listed in OP (yet) -- but, hopefully, it will be listed soon, meaning to reach 50 merits :D So I translated this thread being very zealous and, at same time, because I found the material very interesting. Thank you fillippone for allowing me to translate it, although it's not listed yet and big congrats for writing this essay!

Thank you, my friend, for the continuous support.
Please amend the above link, and I will list it in the OP.
I usually wait for a thread having at least 50 merits, but I will make an exception this time, as I am sure this threshold will be soon surpassed.
