Title: Will another altcoin rise to overtaken Bitcoin?
Post by: john_cm on April 19, 2020, 06:50:56 AM
Taking into consideration the nature and redundancy of Bitcoin technology and the difficulty in scaling, I am very curious to know if Bitcoin protocol will be dropped one day and another coin build to take its place. because now it's almost like the redundancy of Bitcoin and the time it takes for a transaction to be processed is part of what is affecting its mainstream adoption as a currency. please share your thoughts.

Then Bitcoin will need to scale else we will be stuck in a $200 billion market cap forever. It's old tech!

It's impossible for altcoin to overtake bitcoin right now but ethereum has ever taken the bitcoin spot a few years ago. Bitcoin just like a dollar because it was ruling crypto ecosystem. You can see from the how much dominance that already owned by bitcoin and that's more than enough to say if that will never happen.

Each cryptocurrency have its own uniqueness, indeed if we talk bitcoin and altcoin from its function will have a different class. Like, bitcoin transaction is very long to be proccessed you may need several times to send your bitcoin in address one and another. Different with altcoin, like XRP who need two XRP as fees for one transaction which I think it is really low fee if we compare with bitcoin and also we just need at least one minute to see the XRP is arrived. But, it is not about that, bitcoin have a large community even most of crypto user will have bitcoin as their investment place. So, I think it will be hard to see that bitcoin can be overtaken from its price, there will no altcoin which have a high price from bitcoin as always.

Who knows maybe someday there will be an altcoin that will be develope that can overtake bitcoin as anything is possible especially that our technology is keep on evolving as days passes by. But if we will be talking like 1-5 years from now, surpassing bitcoin is very difficult and as you can see many altcoins want to do it but they fail to get the sympathy of big investors.

Bitcoin is the King and will always be remembered if there will be altcoins that can replace it's place someday.

Bitcoin's PoW protocol will never be lost unless the number of bitcoins is left to dig. and when the number of bitcoins is no longer available, it will be more than 100 years. That's why sharks are now still taking advantage of bitcoin to manipulate and they will create another coin when bitcoin is almost at full value. And for blockchain technology, no one will care about how slow bitcoin is, they just care about whether bitcoin is profitable for them or not. Currently alts have great technology but are never appreciated because the team has control of that coin. The goal of the shark is to find unregulated coins and start fomo it, then create a new financial game. :)

Yes, for the time being and for the next 5 years, I don't think any altcoin will surpass bitcoin. A lot have been trying to improve the features of bitcoin and they are even have good features as compared to bitcoin, yet, they couldn't beat the popularity of usage of bitcoin. How many projects have you seen stating that they have faster transaction, low fees, anonymity than bitcoin, yet they couldn't get even 10% of the users of bitcoin? That's their bottleneck, getting users for their coin.

Many coins is hoping to replace bitcoin but all of them failed.Even the closest competitor which is ETH can't make it even they get more investors interest from the past year and help the price increase with the hype.

Even popular crypto enthusiasts  make their own articles that ETH is better than Bitcoin but where are ETH now and price.

I don’t think that this will happen, because Bitcoin has long been in the first place in the cryptocurrency sphere and will be in the first place for a long time, so you should not even think about it, but for now you need to not lose time and earn money using investments in Bitcoin.

Redundant for bitcoin? no.
There will be no coin that will take over bitcoin. If you're talking about redundancy, you should point out the altcoins and the upcoming ones.
A lot of them are new and keep on making redundant projects.

We have already coin that can take the place of the bitcoin and that is the ethereum and maybe someday will have new coin will be create that can more potential than bitcoin and ethereum that can defeat all the coin but until now ether is the only coin who is qualified about that position but we don't know what year will happen.

With the subject of your thread, it should "is there ANY altcoin that will rise and overtake bitcoin?" When you have that it means that someone already did but there is none and no one will do that even you say on your one of your reply that it is an "old tech" it is still the original, maybe, just maybe some other project will overtake bitcoin but not now, now in a decade but I believe in a century, it won't be taken yet.

A topic that has been discussed many times in this forum for years is here again. This issue has been spoken many times over the years and the result has never changed. It's still the same now. However, the effect of Tether and its derivatives is increasing rapidly in the market. I'm not sure if Tether can beat BTC, but it seems like it can beat Ripple at any time.

I think that it will happen sometime in the future.

I believe out of these three altcoins, which are Ethereum, EOS and BNB one will become the next  king of cryptocurrency. It is quiet hard but it will happen eventually.

This prediction is still quite far from reality because these coins are just altcoins and depend a lot on the rise of Bitcoin. Of course, you have the right to hope and choose your investment according to your preferences but certainly there will never be 3 coins over Bitcoin. I think Bitcoin will still dominate this market for a long time and no coins can be compared.

I agree with you. BNB will never be able to dominate this market because investors often choose to invest in this coin only because of the benefits it brings to investors. Compared with Bitcoin, BNB will never be able to compete because Bitcoin is always the coin mentioned when talking about this market. At this point Bitcoin will still dominate and altcoin will forever be altcoin only.

First of all, no Altcoin as overtaken Bitcoin before. I think there is a slim chance of these happening just Because the Bitcoin stick of Digital Gold stick, unlike some of these ALtcoins that want to do anything. The issue of scaling is not particular to Bitcoin, other Altcoins have these issue also so it is still up in the air. I think we need something else in the space to give Bitcoin run for its money because Ethereum fail greatly in this regard

Definitely not.

"Cryptocurrency" was a unique idea, which was first invented by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008. Bitcoin represents that idea. All the other altcoins (including Ethereum, Cardano, Ripple.etc) have tried to copy that idea with only minor changes. Some of them claims to be much advanced when compared to Bitcoin, but even with them the basic technology and idea remains the same. Under such circumstances, I can't foresee any other cryptocurrency overtaking Bitcoin, either in terms of popularity or acceptability.

Ethereum came very close in mid-2017. That was when the ICO hype was at its peak. And Bitcoin was in a weak spot, thanks to the BCH fork. If I am not wrong, the market share was like 33% for Bitcoin, and 31% for Ethereum. But that was the topmost level ETH could reach. The ICO market got destroyed in less than a year and along with that the altcoin bubble burst.

That's true. even if the possibility will always there for a coin to replace bitcoin but im not sure if that can happen easily. The fact that if we must see the fundamental of crypto ecosystem. Bitcoin like a mother of crypto that will never be replaced by alternative coin. Especially it has limited supply which was giving more advantage to push the price

I do not think that any other coin is going to take over bitcoin atleast any time soon, this is because of many factors and as far as you have talked about the scaling issues, do remember that scaling solutions are being worked on like lightening network that will make btc transactions instant and almost free. Bitcoin is not going anywhere it is here to stay.

There's a sense with that comparison but on the part that saying that it isn't the best. People see that there's a flaw in bitcoin but it's upgrading as time passes and they don't realize that it's making bitcoin the best of them all, well ever since bitcoin has been the best.

Whats redundancy about bitcoin? Maybe its altcoin you are talking about here. Remember that bitcoin is the first technology that introduced blockchain all the following cryptocurrency are all imitation and its altcoins that copied the system. Yes its an old payment system but remember it have the very first consensus PoW and the peer to peer system we all using now. If there is an altcoin for replacement with this, maybe they need to be something really intimidating to scare of a little those bitcoin investors and believers but its not gonna happen. Bitcoin reputation has been all over the world.

At this point in time, there will be no altcoins yet to take over bitcoin. As everyone is expecting bitcoin halving will take place this coming May 11, 2020. And bitcoin halving time is one of the most anticipated developments in the cryptocurrency space for 2020. So by that time, we can expect more dominance of bitcoin, but let's not set aside that there are lots of good altcoins now and they are doing their best for the developments of their ecosystem too. So, for now, let's just observe and see what will happen in the future.

If we going to consider all other aspects in the crypto industry everything happens in the way of surprises sometimes even without a particular reason just like a pump and dump event. So I think dethroning Bitcoin is highly possible, but somehow it would not happen easily because bitcoin as a pioneering crypto-currency has already built a foundation that has not easy to destroy that was my opinion.

So never think that any other coin will come and replace it with bitcoin. So just forget about this and try to think new idea man.

If we think that the crypto money markets are prepared for all kinds of surprises, it is not possible to say no precisely and clearly. However, there is a fact that it does not seem possible to realize the situation you are talking about either in the short term or in the long term. It is very difficult to predict the market in the long term, but I think a project with this potential will be realized in the next 20 years. If such a project does not take place in the process I am talking about and no alternative crypto money can achieve the first place, then it would be a mistake to expect such a thing afterwards. Moreover, apart from cryptocurrencies created by the states, Bitcoin will be the base currency as it is today. In short, my answer to the question you asked for the near or medium term process is clearly no, whereas in the long term process such a possibility can happen.

This is a wet dream for all the new projects in the market and we have seen thousands of projects claiming to be better than bitcoin and in the end what happens, they either stop developing or either end up as a scam and many new projects and coins are coming every month and nothing is going to change, if any of the coins has the same transaction volume of bitcoin then it will slow down too, we have some forks and lets see what they will accomplish in the future.

This has been a point of contention for a very long time but things are not so easy, you are thinking about bitcoin just as you would do of any technology, it seems you think we can easily replace bitcoin with another coin but that is not true, bitcoin is also a network which means that the more people are using it the more difficult it is to replace it, and when we see that only a handful of coins have any kind of support from the community then it is easy to see it is way easier to update the code of bitcoin than to try to get millions of people to use another coin.

I am one of the firm believers of progress and because of that thinking I believe there will definitely something that will overtake bitcoin and even make all cryptocurrencies be worth %1 of what it is worth today. However that is not a coin that I am considering, I am thinking maybe we could have something so unexpected and so unforeseen before that it will be much better than crypto currencies.

If bitcoin is considered better than fiat right now, that means we worked on it and found something that is better, one bitcoin worths thousands of dollars you can see it from that. Yet that doesn't mean that in the far future something much better than crypto couldn't come up, maybe one day someone will create a chip on your arm that you can use to spend everywhere (well that is payment processor and not money but you get it) and suddenly everyone will get it, who knows?

Yes it is true that technology evolves where new tech overtake old tech and so on, but it seems the reverse is the case in this crypto space. There have been blockchains or altcoins with the aim of overtaking Bitcoin, some came with the idea of scaling, some with the idea of high TPS, some were termed blockchain 3.0 and 4.0 etc but yet they are still struggling to achieve their aim of overtaking Bitcoin. The question is, what's delaying them?
Bitcoin has been here for years maintaining its position as the best cryptocurrency, the most decentralized blockchain etc and from the look of things and how most team are going about their project it shows that Bitcoin will continue occupying that position.

It's built to be on the top of all cryptocurrency and many alt coins already tried but all of them failed. If we consider in the long run like in the future we can't tell. Just like you said, maybe technology continue to improve day by day, and we can see more incoming future like btc looks in the future. Everything will become more in business application platform and more flexible like Eth. I guess this alt coin will always closer to btc incoming near future.

Altcoin exists because Bitcoin existence . On the contrary, altcoins price depends on the bitcoin price.

in crypto space bitcoin is the life of all crypto, so it will be difficult to match what bitcoin has achieved with any altcoin.

Maybe, but this is something totally unpredictable, for now, Bitcoin I still the king, in a few years we can have a good crypto that may replace it, and we have a lot of options, LTC, ETH, BCH, DOGE, and thousands more.

I can't believe how bitcoin becomes redundancy. Bitcoin has already acquired the highest position in the world crypto environment. Now it is more popular than any other coins and its popularity is increasing continuously. Many governments are approving bitcoin in their countries, different universities, colleges and schools are opening subject on bitcoin and after all more people are engaging in bitcoin transaction.  So, there is no chance to drop it and it is not easy for other cryptos to take the place of bitcoin. Yes, bitcoin technology may change but its protocol will be upgraded and bitcoin always be the leader of the crypto world.

Can an egg command a chicken?
An obvious answer to an obvious question.
If any of the tokens will become more popular than btc, it will only be after the death of btc/not in the near future.
To "win" someone over btc, you need a total change in the perception of all cryptocurrency users, and this is a process that cannot be artificially provoked and quickly carried out. This is like building communism - in theory it is possible, but in practice it is impossible.
There are a lot of projects with better TPS, wider feature range, faster development, etc. But btc was the first one and this is the main reason of btc dominance.

I think there is no possibility on any altcoin that could overtake bitcoin. Even the ethereum coin that has the most potential altcoin doesn't ever overtake bitcoin even for over a decade. In the future we dont know what would happen in the market but i'm definitely sure no altcoin can ever overtake bitcoin unless bitcoin definitely fall its value.
if bitcoin falls, of course all altcoins will also experience it and maybe more altcoins will die. and as you said if there won't be altcoin that can overtake bitcoin

Wait decades before this happen. Altcoin cant even be compared to bitcoin level, so happening this is a small percentage of chance. Im not looking down on altcoins, but stating the fact that bitcoin is the first and famous coins, with its high volume and market cap even the top 2 or 3 still far from even closing the gap between their stats. The only project can even compete is ethereum but still not in a million chance they can surpass bitcoin. Their tech is useful but remember the negative side of smart contract as source of scam projects using their tokens right?
despite knowing that. there are still quite a lot of people who hope that someday there will be a better altcoin than bitcoin. in the past, many coins identified would exceed bitcoin, one of which is ethereum. Well, at the moment I am not very sure about Altcoin that will surpass Bitcoin, but I am sure with Altcoin that has the potential to develop along with the development of bitcoin.

There are lesser possibilities for a new coin to beat bitcoins but a new coin may get familiar similar to ethereum or litecoin. I'm just talking with respect to what has happened in last 10 years of time frame it means there is no big threat for bitcoin from any altcoin so far to replace it. At the same time there are big possibilities for some new coin to get higher value like how ethereum had done by 2018.

To replace/overtake bitcoin, we must need some all new technology which must be focusing on solving a problem which is not addressed by bitcoin so far. I guess no such problem is existing until today which means there will be no need of boom of another coin for the current scenario, what we are having in our financial world.

I like to know about what are the coin you are referring. I mean what other coins has overtaken bitcoin in terms of technologies and innovations. If you refer about non-traceable transactions or something like small contract dapps then I am extremely sorry these are not the technologies where bitcoin failed to focus on. These are all just positive consequence based on what bitcoin has introduced for this world.

Yes. Bitcoin was originally created as a payment processor which has been fulfilled so far with all security measurements. If anything required for being a better payment processor then definitely bitcoin will get for such development and enhancements for making it suitable for new challenges as well.

In my opinion, there is a possibility that altcoin will rise but will not reach the same level as bitcoin. because bitcoin has a limited supply and little of altcoin supply. I'm also not sure if Bitcoin is replaced with other coins, because in addition to its popularity there are also many people who are comfortable using bitcoinm, but it is possible that bitcoin will develop itself in expanding its network creating several new coins.

Well anything is possible in crypto, an alt can surpass bitcoin when it comes to fast and cheap transaction but it doesnt mean bitcoin will become redundant for that reason. Since it is the first of its kind and it has many supporters, plus the high value makes btc to be on top. Sure there's a possibility to replace btc for the next 5-10 years but again it wont change the fact that btc is the most recognize crypto worldwide.

Would still be hard to think of such thing knowing how big Bitcoin already is. Established wide community of users and investors, listed in many exchanges being used in different transactions by different countries, and also being the namr that "respresents" crypto industry. Have you observed whenever we are trying to introducr crypto to other people, first thing that comes to their mind is Bitcoin, that is how powerful it is already. An altcoin can arise and have a highet market value but I don't think that would be enough to put Bitcoin down.
I think impossible can beat the price of bitcoin even in the future bitcoin has high popularity and high interest in each exchanger, I am sure the price and popularity of bitcoin in the future higher from now
As each day passes, I believe that bitcoin will be more popular. I believe that current investors only care about bitcoin because they have been so scared of altcoins for years. There have been a lot of altcoins created with the purpose of replacing Bitcoin but all died and became a scam. I do not believe that altcoins can surpass Bitcoin, even that of ETH
Indeed. Think of how many altcoins are there but observe how many people are anticipating to invest in Bitcoin over other cryptos. I do not believe something is impossible but if ever there will be an altcoin to surpass bitcoin, it won't appear soon.
There shall only be one and it is BITCOIN...
Cryptos and Fiat could co-exist so I don't think Bitcoin will remain someday, alone.

Utility wise that's very possible, I read some reports on stablecoins been one of the most used cryptocurrency so far and its trading volumes has surpassed that of bitcoin but when it coins to adoption and market capitalization I don't think any altcoins has what it'll take so surpassed that of bitcoin. Many projects have tried in the past but failed. Ethereum which was showing a very strong force has been left behind as a result of the 2018/2019 bear market crashed.

Xrp also showed some positive sighs but couldn't retain that force the moment the untrustworthy operation of the coins came into the news. Libra was also one the speculative project to give bitcoin a run for it's money but that project has been put on hold so we're yet to see it try and fail as that's obviously it's fate.

Nothing like that will happened unless bitcoin will become forbidden to own in the next decade. Bitcoin already took over for a lot of years, and I highly doubt about your second statement about its protocol being ditched off one day. Regardless on its value or utility, it has already been known for both and it will be just like that always.
In a certain projects there comes maturity stage as well as declining stage, but Bitcoin isn't even reaching to the full maturity just yet because of less adoption it gets for now.
Pretty sure that the transaction time to be confirmed should be resolved or lessen someday.
This problem will be totally resolved one of these days so we should not make it a big deal. And for sure the developers are thinking how to address this problem. But having the thought that bitcoin might be replace with an altcoin one day, i know this can be very possible. But for now, the dominance of bitcoin is really observed by everyone so it's really hard for an altcoin to take over bitcoin's position even though a lot of attempts had happened but still failed.

Yes, a possibility can indeed happen to Altcoin, only if to have something that is not owned by Bitcoin on an Altcoin, it seems to be a little more difficult to realize, because the average Altcoin developer takes its reference to bitcoin and the blockchain system owned by bitcoin, so this will certainly be a little difficult for Altcoin.

I would disagree with you. Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency, and I don't think that any new coin may be able to replace it. If that was the case, then it would have happened many years back. In due course of time, what's going to happen is that a new idea may be invented and it may become more popular and acceptable than the one proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008.

the question did not specify which aspect bitcoin would be overtaken but if in market capitalization my answer is yes but not in this timing because since the emergence of altcoins it was already a doubt that some altcoin may took over the place of bitcoin but as of now there is non because btc is not yet matured as of now i believe that btc is still at early stage.
in the contrary of course there are more projects better than bitcoin in terms of technology because humans tend to create base on necessities in specific timeline.

The only the altcoins is Ethereum and the Ripple has the great potential of surpassing the Bitcoin in future. But, this could be go a longer period of say 100 years or the more even because the Bitcoin supplying is the limited to its mining while the Ripple and the Eth has the more supply. Another thing is that Bitcoin has already gained as a coin of global currency and the pioneer of this digital currency system. Hence, people will prefer this to others. So, the overtaken of other altcoins is now only a matter of speculation.

It may take a while but the bitcoin developers are the best in the world and they will surely find a way, and even that scenario is a stretch since it is more likely the bitcoin developers will come up with revolutionary ideas first before any altcoin and if that keeps happening the possibility of any coin surpassing bitcoin is zero.

How many altcoins are really living upto expectations? Only a few and among those few are altcoins their teams made various claims of how they will beat the Bitcoin blockchain. From my own view, most projects today have given up the hope of trying to outmatch Bitcoin and no new projects can even try it when most of them aren't trustworthy. All I can point out is, the reason why Bitcoin is still on top is attributed to its blockchain which is the most trusted blockchain in this space thus having reliability unlike other blockchains; this makes people to use it more which also leads to it more popularity.

so far, no altcoin has been able to surpass bitcoin. well, some coins are able to exceed the price of bitcoin, it's just that it doesn't last long, nobody is even interested in that project. in addition, BCH has approached the price of bitcoin. however, since the price of bitcoin has fallen, the price of BCH has also fallen so far. in the future, I don't think that there is an altcoin that can approach bitcoin.

Back in 2017 I was expecting that ETH will raise and overtake BTC one day, but if you look at the market right now, BTC dominance was and still is around 60 percent and I hardly believe that BTC would be ever replaced from top.
BTC will never be replaced by Altcoin, try to look at BTC prices in 2017, then you compare with ETH prices in 2017 as well, and see how far the prices of the two of them are, because what I often see is ETH will pump up if Bitcoin is also pumped upwards.

it all depends on the price of Bitcoin and the dominance of Bitcoin, if the dominance of Bitcoin is still high as it is now at 63%, Altcoin will be hard to replace Bitcoin in the first place !, remember that, and no one will be replaced bitcoin!, because Bitcoin Volume always number one

I think that altcoins do not have chances, if we compare them with Bitcoin. Bitcoin after halving will only increase its dominance in the cryptocurrency market to the level of 80%.

The idea of an altcoin surpassing bitcoin was really popular years ago but as time has passed it has become more and more evident that is never going to happen and it makes sense if you ask me, how do altcoins think they are going to surpass bitcoin when the underlying technology is the same or very similar, if something appears that surpass bitcoin in the future I can guarantee you it is not going to be a cryptocurrency but something completely new and revolutionary.

I don't know if what you have seen are enough to get Bitcoin replaced the whole industry did not look at that way, we should instead celebrate that a milestone has been reached and that is we are going to celebrate another Bitcoin halving even though we are in a halving, this is something to thank for.

no, forever bitcoin will be above we have seen a lot of developments from each of the new coins that have been released either from the transfer speed or anything that exceeds bitcoin, but no one will be able to replace the btc because there was already the first time and most used for transactions and the most trusted coin.

It is difficult for altcoin to occupy the position of bitcoin before or even in the future because the market capitalists are quite far apart so that it is not possible in my opinion.
Bitcoin will remain the parent of all coins and all transactions and payment of bitcoin is the most widely used.

There was a time when majority was expecting this as the hype just took the coin from below a dollar and started rallying out of nowhere when the ICO boom started and with the unlimited amount of coins in existence some thought it will over take bitcoin because the price of bitcoin was below $500 at that time.

I have never thinking that bitcoin can be overtaken by an altcoin even though it's ETH.

Bitcoin has a strong community and its investor believe that cryptocurrency aside from bitcoin is not cryptocurrency per se.

They just was created by some people who just need a profit for themselves. Yeah we csn see it in some altcoin who end up being shitcoin.

There is a lot of possibility that a new Altcoin will always rise and be born through lots of varieties that projects who aims to provide new great ideas to resolve present problems that requires modernized solution. But I doubt that a new rising Altcoin can surpass or overtake Bitcoin whem it comes to demand. Technology is indeed important on choosing a potential cryptocurrency in the market but building the trust is also an important element that is needed to be considered as well in which Bitcoin have built for a long time ever since it has existed.

No new altcoin can overtake the Bitcoin's rank or its market volume but in technology, I think many altcoins already doing better than Bitcoin, which is a very good sign. Bitcoin is the base of the crypto market, but it doesn't mean Bitcoin will hold the best technology place forever. As blockchain is open to all, so, we can get any time a better coin that can compete with the Bitcoin. Even last year, people started talking Libra Vs Bitcoin!

im now using xrp though whenever i wanted to send or deposit something because i do also feel the slowness of btc but btc  never been faded   . its still the top coin  ( also top coin for investing )  if not for spending and sending money   .

Bitcoin is the only coin that does not need good technology to develop because every time people mention this market, they only care about Bitcoin. For me Bitcoin is an asset and very few people choose this coin as a means of payment because Bitcoin prices are very volatile and take a lot of time to confirm. Now there are thousands of altcoins with better technology but investors only buy when the project receives great attention from the community.

You are right, Bitcoin is the father of cryptocurrency which it is impossible for any coin to beat the price of Bitcoin, if a coin pumps more than the price of Bitcoin then we should consider soon the coin will become a fraud. Along with the price of Bitcoin, most of the potential altcoins will increase their prices.

I don't think so. There are many coins out there although gimmicky still undeniable that they have more feature and more "refined" blockchain as most of them said whether it's true or not. Bitcoin nowadays acts like gold because it's the first crypto ever and most of people already have some idea about it. Some other coin might be deemed as bitcoin competitor but that's just some people's opinon not to mention the coins which are outright bitcoin rip off with no innovation whatsoever, they are created to fail.

Yes, I agree it's seems possible for the future that bitcoin could be overtaken by altcoin but it takes a massive adoption to it's users. It never be an easy way for this particular coin. Technology continue to develop day by day if bitcoin will follow to the latest and advance technology in the world, it will not be replace. Never ending? I think it did stopped few years ago. As the developer Satoshi abandoned it. The only good thing is that bitcoin is open source and anyone can tapped into its core to improved.  I think for moment none of the altcoins can surpass or even overtake the bitcoin popularity. Even though there are more superior tech than this, its being pioneered as an old testament proves that it would be the king of all coins. Lol, if Bitcoin is having scaling problem, then altcoins will face worse than that. Right now, there is no altcoin that can challenge bitcoin for the top position. Bitcoin will continue to have that advantage as the first cryptocurrency that was ever created.

The only way that it might go down is if a big platform that has already made a name for itself around the world should release their own cryptocurrency, just like Facebook tried to do since last year, but was stopped by the government. If Libra was a successful project , it might have been in a position where it will be able to take challenges from Bitcoin.

In the future maybe yes but if we are going to talk like 1-5 years from now then the possibility is almost zero especially that big whales are backing up the bitcoin prices compare to other currencies. But if the big whales will boycott the bitcoin and they will support other currencies like eth or other currencies that has a potential then they can easily replace and overtake bitcoin.

But right now, the foundation of other currencies are bitcoin therefore there is no other currencies that were able to replace bitcoin up until now. Let's just see whether there will be other currencies that can surpass bitcoin someday.

If you think a rise in price means overtaken a present coin; then you do not understand how it works.
There are several tokens worth more than ripple and etherum in price; but they are very very far from overtaking etherum or ripple.

Bitcoin size is the largest, in both volume and day trade; or even market size; in adoption, bitcoin also leads the way; it is incredibly impossible to just override and overtake bitcoin

We're not talking about an average altcoin here. There is a possibility that an altcoin completely different from Bitcoin will offer people something that will push it to become a mainstream currency.

For that to happen Bitcoin wil have to fail first and become hackable or too slow and outdated. I wouldn't expect something like that to happen in the next 5 years but it's possible. We're talking general terms not here and now.

That's right, I totally agree with this statement that you said, because the average Altcoin is based on an existing system and even looks at examples in Bitcoin, so it's clear that any coin won't be able to replace Bitcoin at any time.

We're talking general terms not here and now.
if you discuss about cryptocurrency that can be hacked then all cryptocurrency currently available have the potential to be hacked and everything can be drained so everything in cryptocurrency is indeed not safe, therefore cryptocurrency has a very high risk.

Not all cryptocurrency use the same encryption and blockchain as bitcoin so a failure of Bitcoin doesn't mean a failure of the whole ecosystem.

We would be starting from scratch because the trust in crypto would be undermined but it would not be the end.

A hack is only an example. We were very close to Bitcoin being called a failure when it bottlenecked and it costed $100 to send a fast transaction. The rest was pending for hours and even days. Something like that could make another coin look attractive like it made BCH look attractive for a few months.

There will be no coin like bitcoin ever, bitcoin value is very high because the coin supply is very limited.
Many bitcoins lost from the owner due lost private key, lost wallet and resulting bitcoin became very valuable. The conclusion is, there won't be any altcoin rise and overtake bitcoin.

No. Actually bitcoin is just getting started and we have just started the journey of adoption and i think in next 5 to 10 years btc mass adoption will become a reality and the price will be between 1 to 10 million per btc and then we may see a better or revilutionary innovation or coin proje t that may overtake btc but currently i do not see there is any threat of this type in the market right now.

There is no token or project that has the might to challenge bitcoin dominance on the space.
We can rather call it that bitcoin is crypto currency and crypto currency is bitcoin, because most of the time all trades investments done by us are all converted back to bitcoin

From my opinion, any altcoins won't be able to overtake bitcoin in cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin is the most trusted coin in crypto because many peoples know btc. Common peoples doesn't know about altcoin like eth or ltc, but they know about bitcoin if we ask them.

I'd rather see ethereum take over Bitcoin in coming years because Bitcoin is getting old, ethereum still have better use case than bitcoin, we can only wait and see how the future will play out
Ethereum can and should strengthen its position, but Bitcoin will remain Bitcoin. I think that no cryptocurrency will ever rise to the price of bitcoin. Bitcoin is really aging slowly, because other types of cryptocurrencies are developing at a very fast pace. What will happen next is difficult to say. Big changes are expected with the advent of stable national coins of states, that is, the digitized currencies of their central banks.

This problem has been going on for a long time but the whales can't do that. they are the market leader and because bitcoin has no one to control it, they take it as the dominant coin. The life of bitcoin is considered as the life of the whole market. if it collapses, the whales will leave and will create another game. Therefore, even if any alts have good technology, it will not be able to replace Bitcoin.

yes, because nothing is impossible, anything can happen,
but with a note, that altcoin can replace the advantages of bitcoin,, such as Freedom of Payment,, Choose your own costs,, Low risk for sellers,, Security and control,, Transparent and neutral.

but in my opinion the possibility will be very small, because bitcoin is like the parent of crytocurrency, all of it sticks with bitcoin, so to replace it will be very difficult.

I often think about this, can some alt-coin replace Bitcoin, and which one can it be? Predicting that is like
winning on lottery! But for now I don't have any special alt-coin that I think it can replace Bitcoin, even in
long-term like 10-20 years!
But I invest in alt-coins, and I try to diversify as much as I can! Maybe one day some of alt-coins we invest
know can get very close to Bitcoin, we never know what future holds and changes are happening all the time.

For some weird reason some people believe that bitcoin has hit its limit and that an altcoin could surpass it in the future, but that is not what I see in my opinion bitcoin is just getting started, it is true that after 2017 the interest in bitcoin has gone down somewhat but that is natural especially after the crash that we suffered but I'm pretty sure that the economic crisis that we are facing will bring more attention to bitcoin as an asset that can be used to somehow protect yourself from the difficult times that are coming.

For more than a decade of its existence, I'd never find nor to know that one altcoin had surpassed Bitcoin even just in a minute or in second. Not even ETH can make how much more the next coming altcoins. We have known already that the creation of BTC Gold is something to caught attention but somehow it never gets it and the trust of people stick to bitcoin.

There is no having that sense to think an altcoin to kick Bitcoin out from the position it has. Bitcoin builds its reputation already and that was strong enough to hold the trust of all crypto investors and holders.

BTC has never disappointed the investors even in this tough market phase it is performing and we are experiencing this well, that's the nature of this coin. However it's very very hard for the alts to over take BTC.

Many alts can be created to surpass the technology and features of bitcoin but the popularity of usage will be unmatched for a very long time. So right now, I haven't seen another alt that will potentially overtake bitcoin in the near future.

It is clear that the Technology doesn't win the game.
Rather, we could consider a few elements which creates value:

- The Time. The longer something exist the strongest it is.
- Awareness. The more people know about your product the better your product will be sell (even if it is crap; i am not saying Bitcoin is crap).
- The strength of the community. Here i am speaking about the people developing BITCOIN and making it evolve according to the initial Vision.

The problem of BITCOIN today is that many instruments of the normal financial market have been implemented over Bitcoin such as derivative.

On one hand, BITCOIN has been created for an alternative monetary system but as more value it takes and as more we replicate the bad habits of the "elite" financial system.

I have written a few article on those subjects, you can find them here:

I have seen a lot of altcoin tried to dominate the crypto-market over bitcoin but form what I see, people still choose bitcoin. Bitcoin is bitcoin and it's like the origin of this cryptocurrency.
I think there will be no replacement for bitcoin, no altcoin to overpower bitcoin.
When bitcoin goes down, most altcoins follow.

BUT, if ever there will be an altcoin to rival with bitcoin then hopefully I get to invest before it spikes in the market.  ;D

First of all, we need to remember that Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency. So BTC is never going to forfeit that status. Altcoins have been created since a long long time. But they can be only considered as copycats. There may be some differences in the algorithm and coding, but the basic idea remains the same. The future altcoins are also likely to be the same. Under such circumstances, I don't expect any alt to replace Bitcoin.

It's been a very long discussion since they've been seeing a lot of altcoins getting into the market. I'm with few altcoins but never thought of this ambitious goal that one of my altcoin will ever overtake bitcoin. Bitcoin will never shift from the first position...
Bitcoin is the most valuable crypto asset at the moment, Altcoin isn't quite capable of being the most valuable beyond Bitcoin. Bitcoin itself currently controls 60% of the cryptocurrency market, Altcoin is impossible to become the most valuable than Bitcoin.
yes, if it's a matter of price, then bitcoin can never be replaced by any altcoin, even from popular altcoin. however, in the matter of increasing price percentage, bitcoin can be defeated, because altcoin has a low price, and can easily go up to hundreds of percent.
however, bitcoin still remains the king of the crypto world.

This is almost going to be an impossible thing to happen. With the solidity and recognition Bitcoin has garnered, finding another digital assets with the same level of strength and power is impossible and certainly, finding a cryptocurrency more powerful than difficult is out of place, an impossibility to say the least. We have had projects that all came with the intention of displacing Bitcoin but they all couldn't measure up to the expectations and promises. Today, Bitcoin is standing even taller than it was yesterday. This shows the strength and effect Bitcoin has.

It is from trust in bitcoin that its price is formed. Therefore, it is not surprising when its price rises or falls very much. Many altcoins already overtaken Bitcoin in technology. It seems impossible for any altcoins price can overtaken Bitcoin price in coming years.

It does not matter. The market exchange system is speculative in nature based on linking the entire market to the price of bitcoin.
Even more technologically advanced coins are not able to overpower Bitcoin, and to a certain extent depend on it.
For this to happen, it is necessary that the price of Bitcoin falls, and the price of "this" altcoin grows so that it can outweigh at least by capitalization.
But this is impossible due to the dependence of all alternative coins on bitcoin.

In addition, BCH has approached bitcoin price. However, because the bitcoin price has dropped, the price of BCH has also dropped so far. In the future, I don't think there's an altcoin that can access bitcoin.

I agree with you because Bitcoin is the only coin that dominates this market, and all Altcoins cannot compare to Bitcoin at this time. I think with what is happening. Bitcoin will continue to hold the number one position in this market, and in the next few years, there will not be any change happening.

However, I am sure the altcoin's positions will have many big changes and new coins will have a chance to enter the top 10 altcoins if that project is of interest to everyone.

Bitcoin will lead the market forever.
I think it's too much. Bitcoin may not remain on top forever because there's a chance that it will lose its value by 2140. That's the estimated time for the last bitcoin being mined which means people might lose interest to it and shift to the next big thing. Well it's almost a forever tho lol, I guess it now depends on the point of view of the person ;D. But one thing is for sure, btc will be the king 'til the end of this generation's lifetime ;D.

So do you compare the sending speed between coins against bitcoin?
bitcoin is the main coin and is already well-known, although there will be altcoin which will be faster shipping from btc will not make altcoin take over the role of the king.
But we never know, nothing last forever.

No matter how good a coin or token is what will determine it's success is interest of the people or investors, if a project is very good and people have no interest it will fail, the biggest crypto interest from the public is all on Bitcoin, followed by ethereum, I don't see how a new coin can beat this

It certainly would, be it in price or total valuation. Though I can't guarantee a time frame, nothing here would always remain the same. As new and advance technology on crypto and blockchain come and people start giving altcoins a little trust, bitcoin would be left behind due to it's lack of innovation because bitcoin is a tough project to change. Bitcoin would always remain the pioneer and would have a special value, but it would not always be the king.

This question was already post here so many times by mostly newbie in bitcointalk, maybe in the future but for now there is no sign that some altcoins can beat bitcoin when it come to popularity and market capitalization. Bitcoin is almost finish in mining and no one at the current coins and tokens can beat him but wither we like it or not bitcoin transactions got slower and slower now so lets just wait if what will gonna happen in the future.

It's possible, that is if most people who have Bitcoin decide to opt out for another altcoin, if Bitcoin can lose half of its members aka fan or whales then Bitcoin is done for, what I've noticed about coins and tokens is how much people get addicted, interest brings more demand, this is what keeps Bitcoin in it's 1st throne

Many altcoins that were created, their team never fails to point out how their coin will beat Bitcoin or how their altcoin will offer more speed or how their project will scale and so on but ever since then till date nothing has changed and those altcoins are no where nearer to their claims. Also, nowadays no project bothers saying they will beat Bitcoin, they just find another line to use and sell their token. So in essence, no altcoin have the capability and power to overtake Bitcoin because they can't be trusted like Bitcoin.

Depends on if you consider stable coins as alt coins, that's the only way I see right now in the space that another coin can take over bitcoin, a massive dump of fiat into the crypto fiat to be able to trade bitcoin and alt-coins freely.

there will never be altcoin overtaking or replacing bitcoin even in the future. Bitcoin is the first coin and is the parent of all coins in crypto. the bitcoin community is too strong to defeat
Exactly bitcoin is well known in transferring money over the internet and this popularity leads why people are using and investing with bitcoin. Other altcoins are trying their best to achieve like bitcoin did but in the end they can't.

It could rarely happen in the recent future. Bitcoin dominance is more than 69% today and currently, there is no coin showing any sign of taking over bitcoin. A coin would take decades to gain the trust  as much as the bitcoin do.

bitcoin still dominates the crypto market until now, and even some of the top altcoins like ETH, EOS, LTC BNB etc. so far it has not been able to surpass bitcoin in terms of price or ranking. this shows that BTC is one potential coin and cannot be replaced by any altcoin.

This topic often appears here and over the years this question has not been answered or proven, and in fact all Altcoins will not be able to replace the position of bitcoin which continues to dominate the market forever.
Altcoins exist because bitcoin originated and Altcoin is just a clone of bitcoin but not as perfect as bitcoin, and whatever the reason is real and imitation will have many differences and are believed.

Yes, that is clear and Altcoins will be difficult to replace the position of a king like Bitcoin at this time, although in terms of price it can be rivaled by Altcoins, but in terms of popularity and community it will be very difficult for any Altcoin to compete.

Bitcoin is now more than 12 years old and the current market dominance stands at 58%. The remainder 42% is not just comprised of altcoins, but also of Bitcoin Forks and Stablecoins. With every passing year, the Bitcoin dominance seems to be increasing. And this is despite the fact that Bitcoin was hard-forked multiple times in the past. And look at the competitors such as ETH and XRP. They don't look to be in good shape currently.

Bitcoin does not have the fastest transactions, but it is number one and now there is no coin that could compete with Bitcoin. Recently I saw in one of the defi projects, the token had a price higher than that of bitcoin, but this is because there were very few coins and this is definitely not a competitor for bitcoin, but maybe a one-day coin that could become a scam tomorrow.

Bitcoin is a crypto leader, is like a dollar among traditional currencies. However, if you look at Euro, it seems that it will overtake the USD soon. Why cannot we guess that any cryptocurrency (let us say, Ethereum) will lead the crypto market in future? I guess it is possible.

The bitcoin is desirable in a lot of countries that bitcoin technology is implemented like Japan, the USA, and other countries. The difference between bitcoin with other cryptocurrency was huge because people already believed in bitcoin investing in something that doesn't have a physical value.

By now we've got more than 7000 cryptocurrencies available in the market with around 30000 trading pairs. Same time lot many cryptocurrencies that have been developed have dead, but the same didn't make developers. They keep or creating the cryptocurrency to be better than bitcoin. With bitcoin's present value and supply it almost has got around 65% of the market capitalisation.

Everything developed and into development have something as a reference. Here the Bitcoin is kept as the reference, further everyone tries making something better and state it is better than bitcoin and some were developed dedicatedly for specific function. This is how the altcoins were getting created. So, the creation will continue, but the chance of overtaking bitcoin is very low.

Exactly my take is that reputation and acceptance of Bitcoin globally goes beyond any altcoin taking over it even with its flaws, its Market Cap and Daily volume traded is huge and massive which take years to attained there is no altcoin that can achieve that feat for now, BCH, ETH should have been a potential threat to the dominance of Bitcoin however investors have more trust and confidence on Bitcoin than any other coin although its mainstream may takes years to be accomplished but we will get there someday.

It works like a lottery. You will never know which altcoin will rise in price and which will fall. This is the whole point of cryptocurrency volatility. It isn't backed by anything and therefore its cost doesn't stand still.
it's unpredictable and like the lottery = Any altcoin has a chance to shift Bitcoin...
but for now, I see no Altcoin that can replace Bitcoin even though it has better updates such as low fees and withdrawal processing speed. Bitcoin will not be replaced for the next few decades.

How in the world would bnb take over bitcoin.  It exists only because binance the company exists.  Bnb grew in popularity with the increase use of binance's exchange.  I dont expect binance to forever be the best exchange out there.

No bitcoin is enough of which using a p2p network and are decentralized unlike in banks that our identity is at stake while they can steal it for their interest. Aside from that they let our money deposited to lend it to someone and gets high interest in it and only few percent of interest will goes to the depositor. Sad but true this is also the reason that in 2007 there was a financial crisis happening after these banks do the form of abuse. And so Satoshi decided to make everything anonymous and decentralized through bitcoin. Bitcoin is the only legit digital currency for now and more than 50% of the reported marketcap volume is for bitcoin. However, other altcoins as well done the same and likely to wanted to get pass bitcoin market.

Bitcoin has not been seen in any currency market yet bitcoin is less likely to outperform other currencies due to rising demand for crypto the prices of other currencies in the crypto market fluctuate depending on bitcoin but if the price of bitcoin goes down then other altcoin can pump up a lot. It will take a long time difficult for other currencies to survive in the face of bitcoin competition.

I didn't underestimate the possibility that new altcoin will rise up to overtake the dominating cryptocurrency which is bitcoin. But i am wholely trusted to bitcoin, i'd still believe that bitcoin will still dominate and still the synonymous cryptocurrency. ETH may also perform good in the crypto market but then no one beats the market value of bitcoin. I'm just hoping for the best for all crypto coins to uplift their values in the cryptomarket.

In terms of price, of course there are many that can compete with bitcoin, developers only need to make coins with a very little supply, and boom the price more than Bitcoin. If it's market cap, I don't think there will be any altcoins that can exceed bitcoin.

Bitcoin is different from other cryptocurrencies in the areas of market. Sometimes it may look as if another altcoin want to rise to over take bitcoin place in the market not knowing that bitcoin is well stand in the market.
Bitcoin is well stand in the market which many investors prefer to invest with bitcoin than to invest with altcoin which is too slow in profit making in the market.

I guess, no altcoin will rise to over take bitcoin because bitcoin is too popular compare to other cryptocurrencies. Many customers prefer BTC exchange than altcoin exchange in the market.

I believe that the yuan or dollar will one day go digital and become the world's largest alternative to bitcoin.
And the currencies I'm talking about are not that different from stable coins either. Their rates are always determined by the government and reflect the economy.
There are currently no altcoins that can compare to bitcoin by capitalization. Bitcoin is really a store of value and it will be. I just think that the altcoins that provide smart contracts like Ethereum, EOS, Tezos will actually replace each other.

I think by default they meant market share or market cap.  Price is reflective of supply so like you said coin price can easily be overtaken, thats not what is up for debate here.

If you fully understand all the benefits, its functionality and benefits for the community, then there should be no questions about the fact that some altcoin can surpass bitcoin. In addition, I am sure that almost all bitcoin holders who have been keeping coins for almost 10 years will not allow the first cryptocurrency in the world to fall, whose goal is primarily financial independence and safety of every person's savings.

I think this will happen in the near future because bitcoin falls technologically far behind the times. Transfer speed is really slow. Over time, as technology progresses, bitcoin can even become unusable.

Transfer speed is slow but coins can be developed that change block times to mere seconds, does that make it more usable than bitcoin.  Have ypu heard of lightning network.  Do you think bitcoin and the things around bitcoin will never change?

Altcoins grow, but they will never surpass bitcoin. Right now bitcoin is in the top spot, reputable companies and individuals are actively buying bitcoin.
In my experience, altcoins can only rise in price when bitcoin rises. That means bitcoin is always ahead of altcoins so there is no reason to say that altcoins will beat bitcoin.

In my opinion, many other altcoins want to take over the price of BItcoin, one of which is yearn.finance with YFI token governance shaking the crypto-asset market due to its fantastic price movements, where 1 YFI exceeds the price of 1 BTC, and also tangible benefits. however, even though YFI's price is fantastic, it can't take over Bitcoin because bitcoin will continue to be the number one

I don't think any altcoin will gonna overtake bitcoin today. Bitcoin is always the king and it will should be, there are lots of top altcoins in the market but none of them surpass bitcoin since in the beginning. But who knows in the future if there will be altcoin which gonna take over bitcoin? So it is better to stay tuned.

I don't think there will be another altcoin that will over take Bitcoin. It was the first altcoin to be created before all the others definitely the master of all.A rise in price of Btc will cause all the other altcoins to rise and vice-versa so it will take a long time to create any altcoin that will overtake Btc.
I myself am very surprised when the development of crypto has expanded, as today there are so many unimportant jokes born into crypto, some of them are too overbearing to say that they will take over Bitcoin and Bitcoin's current position, do they think Bitcoin will develop in just one day ?

Too impossible to happen. Why? We all know that bitcoin is the mother of all crypt of and I would say no other coin can overtake bitcoin. We are all here because of bitcoin and those altcoins are just relying on bitcoin even Binance can't overtake bitcoin for sure. I think this is also ask many times already here on this site and the answer is always NO.

I do not think it is going to happen atleast for many many more years. But with recent developments and upcoming Eth 2.0 and deflationary model of ethereum network i do think that ethereum will become capable to gain more market share and give some serious competition to bitcoin espevially if they are able to come up as an efficient network for mass usage.
- Ethereum is a superior competitor to the rest and stands very close to bitcoin but after years of racing, occupying each other's market share, I just see the value of ethereum being too small compared to the rise of bitcoin, I don't want to underestimate ethereum and everyone's judgment but this is a practical perspective, bitcoin is still preferred by many people. After the most recent bull run, surpassing bitcoin has probably become a nightmare for most altcoins, despite the rapid growth of altcoins, bitcoin crushes them too easily.

bitcoin is and will be boss but one crazy scenario comes to my head,,
imagine bitcoin monero swap happening and then satoshi and all the pioneers bitcoin accounts move to monero
than monero would become boss

It will be very difficult for other altcoins to take over the position of bitcoin, because bitcoin is the mother of crypto itself, but this is not impossible, because as the times change, more people will put forward coins that have advantages and functions better than bitcoin. suitable candidates in my opinion are eth and bnb

Things that are difficult to replace because bitcoin is the first crypto and also fundamentally Bitcoin is strongly believed by investors. nothing can replace it even though the concept is good.
In the past, rumors about the Bitcoin Cash Hard fork that could replace Bitcoin actually couldn't. so for me it is impossible if anyone can replace it. in the marketcap itself, bitcoin is quite high now

By now it is clear that Ethereum will not be able to overtake Bitcoin. Issues such as scalability and security flaws are even worse with Ethereum. And ETH 2.0 is turning out to be a big disappointment. The Bitcoin forks such as BCH, BTG and BSV are also getting obsolete now. They are only a few months away from their demise (after showing a lot of promise earlier). Now the only chance is that some of the third generation cryptocurrencies such as ADA or NEO will replace Bitcoin. But that looks like a very distant possibility now.

I don't know about that really, because bitcoin is not only the pioneer, it's the symbol of the birth of cryptocurrencies. So it held not only just historical value, but also sentimental. People tend to look up to it. Unless there's new coin that have qualities near perfect or fulfil all the aspects that can be considered functional in real world with super branding and marketing then it might be happening. but until those super coin arrived, I don't think bitcoin is replacable.

yes, it will not be replaced by any asset. although nothing can beat the price. but in terms of adoption and volume in the bitcoin market, it will remain at the top.
wasn't right thinking this was all happening. because if that happens in the crypto market it could be that bitcoin is in bad shape and that also affects the crypto market as a whole. and altcoins to replace it I don't think will get a chance.

Not in the short term no. The limited supply and branding of bitcoin puts it in the radar of the serious investors out there. We are talking about investment funds and the like that, as of now, are on the phase of diversifying from traditional stocks into cryptos. It will take at least five years until any other project stands a chance of attracting half of the attention BTC has now.

I think it is impossible to replace bitcoin in the near future. Right now the market capitalization of bitcoin is quite large and if anyone is able to replace it, of course the market movement pattern will change. Historically, the early existence of cryptocurrency was also formed because bitcoin was not possible to replace it. There used to be a hard fork that was rumored to be replacing bitcoin but that couldn't happen. several times this sentiment has been reported a lot but still people's trust is still in bitcoin

yes, I also doubt any coin can beat bitcoin today. especially if big investors like Elon Musk see bitcoin as a change compared to other coins. besides, if the price of bitcoin falls, then there is a big possibility that bitcoin will drag the altcoins to fall too. So, I don't think there is an altcoin that has survived and can surpass bitcoin.

I don't know why most people keep searching for the new bitcoin, which they never seem to find at the end cuz there's only one bitcoin, no altcoin with more advanced tech will still be able to take bitcoin's place even if it has a lower supply plus burning mechanism it still won't be able to beat bitcoin, it's just one fact we have to live with, no altcoin will be able to flip bitcoin, Ethereum came close back then, but right now it's impossible.

I think in the very distant future, Ethereum may take the place of Bitcoin. This scenario is only possible in terms of ETH technology, which will certainly develop even more and offer its users new breakthrough technologies. Bitcoin is currently of interest to large investors, it is ideal for the role of the first legally recognized cryptocurrency.

But there are many nuances with which most countries do not yet agree. Bitcoin is very securely fixed in its place and no altcoin will be able to move it.

It's outlandish for altcoin to surpass bitcoin at the present time yet ethereum has at any point taken the bitcoin detect a couple of years prior. Bitcoin very much like a dollar since it was administering crypto environment. You can see from the how much strength that all around possessed by bitcoin and that is all that anyone could need to say if that won't ever occur.

Well, In as much as I believe that anything is possible in the crypto space, and another fact being that no man owns or control the industry, I think it's pretty difficult for any project or new coin to rise up now and overtake bitcoin, this is because, alot of developers around the world are working on bitcoin 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, they are working to improve bitcoin in the most possible way, so I personally think it's practically difficult for any coin to raise up now and take the place of bitcoin, it's the same as impossible.

I don't see this happening. It could happen maybe in 100 years time when cryptocurrencies are as easy to spend as our fiats today but realistically, BTC has always maintained a little over and under 50% of the total market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market.
With The 21 million total supply and 18million btc already mined so far, there will be more scarcity and this will increase the price more.
I cant see any cryptocurrency taking over BTC as the top cryptocurrency in the Blockchain space.

i don't think it's going to happen in a very long time, if you know BTC has a very secured network and it virtually impossible to hack BTC so it's going to take a whole lot to overtake BTC
