I invested into some alt coins after it hit 40k. I am somewhat at a lost. but yeh I sold btc for alt coins. sounds like a good idea?
so when another all time hits sell for alt coins. by that time i will have a bunch of alts lol. I have a lot now. but nothing serious. enough to be a coiner lol.

It's not a smart move to sell all your btc for altcoin, if I were you I'd only sell half of my btc because you can hold btc for many years with worries, it's the best digital currency for sure, I hope the altcoins you buy are top altcoins? It's bad idea, you're buy the news... not buy the rumor.

If bitcoin is bullish, most alt coins also in bullish too since they got hyped from Bitcoin. If you buy alt coins when Bitcoin reach ATH, it mean you buy alt coins on ATH too. Soon if Bitcoin is dump, alt coins will crash and hard to recover... it mean you will ended loss.

Alt coins only for short-medium term hold, not long term investment.

Maybe that's a good step for you to do, who knows your fate will change with the Altcoin you have.

2017 is much different from the current 2021, Bitcoin is moving, Altcoins are participating but not with the current situation Altcoins do not show interesting things, only part of it.

As long as you profit then it is good as we only need to hit the right timing to buy and the right timing to sell if we want to profit in our investment.

But you should consider that investing into the peak of the market is not a good idea at all as you will surely loss your money in the end but investing every ATH is still good as ATH will not determine the peak of the market as long as there are still room for the bitcoin price to increase or to alts.

That is not a good idea to sell bitcoin for altcoin because by holding bitcoin itself, you make a big profit, especially when bitcoin price can back to $40k. But that will depend on what price you bought bitcoin before. If you buy bitcoin at $20k-$30k, you are making a profit, but if you buy bitcoin at $38k, that will be risky because the price now is down, but you do not worry because the price will increase again.
But if you think that the altcoin will increase, you can hold your altcoin whenever the price is down again following the bitcoin price correction. I hope you can hold the potential altcoin, so you will have a chance to profit later.

No one can stop you on buying altcoins since its your money after all but the mistake you had done here is that on what you had buy.Altcoins are better ones but only to those top ranking ones

Take a look on what happened on top ones? They did really make out some gains after the btc run but eventually having some correction.

If you have converted your btc and had invested on ETH or XLM for sure you do make out gains when these coins had made out some significant move.

It is not a good idea to sell your bitcoin for altcoins. What you just did for me is a mistake. You shouldn't have done that and you kept bitcoin first and invest in altcoins with another set of money or capital.

It's not about how many altcoins you have but it's about how valuable the altcoins you hold.

Your strategy is somewhat cool. But be careful. Some of those altcoins can become worthless in some days. Remember to sell them when you have earned enough. Overcome the beast inside you. Being avid in a single moment can result as lost. The only thing bothering me right now is I dont have much bitcoin or money to accumulate more coins. This rise in the price of cryptocurrency is a chance for me to regain what I have lost in 2017. But this chance is getting far away from me.

The technical analysis doesn't guarantee if you can enter the market at the correct time. There should always be a combination between the fundamental analysis and TA. When your TA says it's the correct time to enter but the fundamental is bad due to the bad news and it can be a boomerang. So many people have been facing this problem before. You are converting your assets when it was on the peak price. It sounds very bad decision IMO. it's better if you are converting it into the stable coins and waiting for the dip to enter in the market again.
You have been getting a loss caused by you were entering at the and position.

It depends on one planning and the Altcoins you hold instead of Bitcoin even some of the traders will disagree with your decision of selling Bitcoin. It is not good if you're buying on ATH. Selling Bitcoin for alts could be a smart move or not. Only few alts can really give lots of profit. For me i would still hold 50% of Bitcoin then Eth and 25% for alts. Well if you really prefer alts then goodluck just make your own research before buying it.

I think that gonna somehow work I think but it will depends on the alts you buy though. indeed to get a big profit we have to be able to choose several altcoins, and not enough to accommodate 1/2 coin of course because it could be speculation that the coins we buy for us to hold doesn't mean they want. can raise prices as quickly as possible. maybe we can choose some of the top 10 altcoins that we think have potential and which according to the research we are doing will develop in the future, even though it is not easy for us to know, but before making a purchase, there is nothing wrong with doing research with the altcoins you want buy.

When BTC was at 40k then most of the alts are on it's peak,as many of them are near about their ATH. You should have wait,you can check the history that how alts dramatically fall after the run.
You can check the case of Eth.
When it's had its previous Ath and how long it take to break it..

However I suggest that if you want to invest in altcoins better always buy in dip and hodl it in long term because in that way you can wait for the right timing to sell it with very profitable earnings.

Once the break out is confirmed, it is likely for the altcoins to move up. So if any altcoin reaches it all time high and close an hourly candle above the breakout and then retest the resistance and breakout, that's the time you can buy the coin for short term profit.

BTC is not comparable with altcoin dude. You should also think what will be happening when the price will be going down again. People should think about how they can take the advantage from this holding rather than try to hodl it for the long term but it will be going back again without getting any profit from the market.

I understand that the Altcoin market share has increased from 25% to 31% during the last 10-15 days. But I don't think that they will be able to maintain this share. Obviously the pattern is similar to what we witnessed during December 2017-January 2018. Back then Bitcoin first hit the ATH level, and then started declining. Most of the alts had their ATH, around 3-4 weeks after the Bitcoin ATH. But this time, there is hardly any hype in the market for alts. That's not a good idea. I think selling btc and replacing it with some altcoins is not profitable. I think when the alt price is very good definitely btc price is much better.

I don't think your move is very good. The market is very high at this moment alts are touching ath everyday. If you invest now there is a chance that if market go down alts will bleed badly. Some people think they are very smart and will buy soon after btc peaks and real alt season starts but to be honest btc peak is not easy to find and most peopel will lose taking this risky strategy. The best time to buy is from longterm support areas during downtrend.

I notice that moat altcoins just go with the price of bitcoin. And since the price got so high there is really a big possibility that the price will make a correction and for sure, altcoins will do the same. It was a very good decision to sell your Bitcoin when the price hit $ 40k. After that bought some altcoins, your decision proved to be successful.

I`m a conservative investor, so I`m very afraid to buy any altcoins today, because market can go down any time, so I don`t want to risk. Nonetheless, I`m still holding most of my assets, which were bought before the market growth and I believe new ATH still can be reached

OP didn't make the right decision of buying altcoins during the hypes but he believes that buying those profitable coins will give him a good return either. He's taking more risk than you but I think, he might get more profit than keeping holding altcoins that never have a chance to grow.

I don't think its a good idea to sell all your bitcoin and covert it into altcoins. Cause now most of the coins are in high price if you hold it for long term then maybe it's fine. But in short term they can fall hard. and it's also depends on where you out your money. If you chose wrong alt then there is a possibility bo great loss. Hope that will not happen. Whatever you do do it carefully.

I am not trying to sound disappointing but it's kinda the truth. If I were you, I will keep that Bitcoin,  for the future.
