Crypto is not popular in my homeland. People in my homeland love to invest stocks and bonds. And real estate is the most popular investment. Only few people invest in crypto. My dad loves to invest in stocks but he seldom has a positive net income from the stock market. It’s the fact that crypto is a better tool to earn money, especially for the Altcoin. Then., I try to persuade my dad to invest in Eth and BNB. They’re worth to invest. Take myself as a good example, I spent the weekly pocket money on my first Eth two years ago and earn more than 10X of money. It seems that Eth is still going up in the future. It’s a good investment during this economic recession period. I tried my very best to persuade my dad to buy Altcoin like Eth and BNB but he thought that crypto was very risky and unreliable at all. Investing in crypto is the best way to earn money in this economic recession. It means that my family loses the chance to become rich since my dad does not invest in crypto.
It’s hard to persuade those middle-aged people to invest in crypto. Do you think so?

not everyone will be friendly and easy to interact in crypto, both parents and young people. albeit with as promising results as you have said. here it depends on one's taste and comfort in trading. You have no right to force them, all you have to do is provide knowledge about crypto trading. Whether someone is interested or not, after listening to your explanations, that's their right. because they think the risk is the reason. if their parents will clearly have strong principles about what they hold in investing.


all have their own love, whether in crypto or stocks. While in the realm of investment, it means that it is more than enough to adapt to market developments.

The opposite question is, what if your parents invited you to invest in stocks? Are you willing and comfortable?

Investors never invest on anything which they don't have knowledge about which also applies to Warren Buffet that is why he never invested in Tesla and Bitcoin which is too far away from his core knowledge so if you want to convince them then you need to teach them about bitcoin and blockchain technology then they may understand its potential and invest in cryptos too.

Especially traders who are interested in their own country's stock exchange are not very interested in crypto money. A lot of people are interested in crypto when they hear about people making money from right to left. In the bull market, most people hear about crypto, but when there is a bear market, no one is left.

I agree it is difficult to convince anyone who are not at all having any previous knowledge about cryptos. But you must try to convince your dad for investing into bitcoin rather other than any other altcoin. Because, there are possibilities for most altcoins to get failed including ethereum, BNB or any other coin whereas bitcoin having 99% certainty on getting us good returns in coming years.

So, I believe it will be better if you try for bitcoin as I'm seeing there are possibilities for your dad to get convinced for the case of bitcoin investments.

Your parents are correct, investing in shitcoins is too risky. Even buying Bitcoin in bull market is risky, you're either get rich quick, or get poor quick if you buy at ATH and it enters bear market. The best time to buy Bitcoin is in bear market, because you can be almost 100% sure that once a new bull cycle starts, the price won't fall to such lows ever again. You can't say the same about alts that can crash to the ground at any moment.

But there's no need for us to pursue and push others even our relatives to invest in crypto. They have to understand it first before investing not only that we've encouraged them.

I understand your dad if he's into traditional investments because that's pretty normal. He don't want to test the waters but maybe someday he'll change his mind.

altcoins will have many more use cases than bitcoin and many people years later will use them unfortunately today it is difficult to see this potential and when it becomes reality, perhaps it will be less accessible.

Altcoin market is good also but it's not valid for every single altcoin. Because nearly 90 percent of these altcoins are just shitcoins and one should really be careful before investing into them. Doing a good research about the projects is very important.

Altcoins are really good choices if you are an experienced investor. But if you are a new one, then I don't recommend starting with altcoins. Taking profits isn't that simple even in the bull run. Not all people also prefer crypto even they are aware of how's the profit here.

Its no surprise that they wouldnt  want to get involved into things which arent regulated or been known into investment world  or simply  they arent still aware with  the market but once

First of all, before you try to convince other people to invest in crypto currency (all investment place) you have to know the ins and out of the investment place itself, yeah that is the important factor. More than that, crypto currency is not a new investment place anymore, there are so many people even instutional investot have been trying to invest in crypto currency especially bitcoin or even altcoin.

May I know, for how long you know crypto currency? Have you bought those altcoin (ETH and BNB)?  Maybe if you already investing your money even you already got a profit then it will be easy to convince other people who close to you. Even, in this case your father has already known about investing then it will be easy to teach him to get interest in crypto currency.

I think so. I have ever met some people in the past that they didn't believe in crypto. They were saying if crypto is a high risk investment with no fundamentals and the most difficult to change people's minds about that.
You need to hardwork to make your parent will try to invest in crypto like BNB. I know that if your dad was only taking a low risk investment as his main choice.

One simple task is to show your earnings from your investments.
Let him see the actual transactions and how you made profit from it.
It is common that not only your parents are hard to convince but practically everyone that has never touched crypto before.

Firstly they're old fashioned so why stress yourself trying to convince them to go into something they don't understand in the first place. We use an approach that's very wrong, you can't just go straight into wanting them to go invest in your magic money because that's what most parents see crypto for. They believe it's ponzi oriented that'll it'll all crash when there's no new individual to buy your coins.

They fail to understand that this is a revolution that's just beginning. First make them understand what cryptocurency in general is all about before wanting them to invest. Make them use bitcoin fir transactions and allow them hunger ti what to know more.

I have used the approach severally, you teach about the utility before adding the monetary benefits and they allow the individual to make their decoy. There's a greater chance they'll pick interest the moment they understand how the technology works

Hard or easy depends on many things. If the crypto investment isn't popular in your country, it is not surprising that your parents are hard to invite joining the crypto investment. They still don't know much about crypto and they probably only about the negative issues. You don't force them to join, just show them that you can be successful in crypto. Your parent didn't wanna try to take the risk. Remember this rule if you wanna get more profit and you must face more risk.
I guess your father just wanna take the safe investment as his portfolios. Real estate can be considered as the safest investment for now consider it's not even volatile like crypto, stock, or bonds.
I think that it's difficult to change your father's mind. You need to give him valid proof about crypto.

Risk is a very crucial part of investments whatever it's forex stock or crypto. The higher the risk will be the greater your profits will be. Old people do not want to take the risk and trust only well know commodity like gold and silver when youngs ones prefer crypto. I think that's what happens with your parents. Every market has bull and bear times so the cryptocurrency market won't rise forever.

Your decisions will end with profit or loss and you can not exclude any of such results. If you buy crypto at tops of the hype, and sell it in bear market, loss will knock your doors.

If you hold them, good cryptocurrencies not shit coins, for years, and stay strong and patiently for the next bull market, you can exit with a draw or big profit. Like ETH need four years to touch its 2018 All time high and gets its new all time high.

Shit coins can end with gradual falls and price will touch 0, volume will touch 0 after months or years. Your patience won't end the same with good coins and with shit coins.

My dad doesn’t have knowledge in stock but he has invested in stock for more than 30years. My mum lacks the knowledge in real estate but she always invests in real estate. In my homeland, people is not rational to invest. Nearly all the adults invest in stock and most of them try to invest real estate which is just following the suit.

It seems that stock is with lower risk than crypto. But people always lose money in stock market in my homeland. More than 70% of them lose the half of the principal. There are so many cheaters stock in my homeland. People like to invest in those low price stock because they want to earn more money but those stocks are likely to be cheaters stock. The possibility of earning money in crypto is much higher than that in stock market. At least all people around me could earn money in crypto. So, I think my dad should quit the stock market and enter the crypto market asap. It’s the good time to invest in Eth and BNB.

my parents are not interested in crypto either. Even though sometimes I give them an understanding of bitcoin, crypto, and blockchain, they still refuse if I invite them to invest. they believe more in investments that have a lower risk such as GOLD. they say the crypto market, like stocks or forex, is too risky for parents who don't want to focus too much on monitoring market movements. different from the price of gold which is quite stable so they can be easier to monitor.

That's right, maybe its because they're not aware of how it really works and the lack of information especially its a "thing" online wherein many scam investments are existing. Some people really prefer to invest in an investment with physical form like gold, real estate etc.

Well every investment has risk, its just that in crypto we have a high chance to gain more if you know how to take advantage the market and knows when to take profit. Its risky compared to other investment but if you can wait longer and has lots of patience then you can prevent the usual mistakes (selling at loss) if the market is not in a good situation.

Can't do anything about it if its not your money, its your dad's money. I gave my wife cash from the profit I earn in cryptocurrency but asking her to invest her money in BTC, will just be turned down.

They will listen and their view could change when you give an example of the popular guys who already invest in BTC like Elon Musk but when its time to invest and ask their money, they will still again shake head.  ;D  Some people are just not open to new tech unless they see everybody else is using BTC already.

You mention on your previous reply that your parents are already investing on stock but rarely to win so it will be more risky for them to invest on altcoins considering how volatile the market is. Instead of convincing your parents, just your funds personally and take the risk of trading for yourself. Let your parents manage there own business though. They have different investment style than us. Altcoin might not fit for them.

Nice story and it's real. Most of our parents previously still put their investment choices into gold and bought property such as land and others (save Heaven). Now the conditions are different again, various investment models and types are born every day and so many choices of futures.

Well in my opinion, there is only one reason why middle aged and old timers don't invest in Cryptocurrency - ignorance. Now when I say ignorance, what I mean by that is "ignore"-rance. They ignore whatever they are not familiar with. They do not know crypto and they do not spend the time and the energy to know more about it. So they ignore it. They also don't want their fragile egos (sorry for this realtalk) to be dictated by their kids as to what or what not to invest.

This depends on the level of understanding of a person.  If a person doesn't understand cryptocurrency, he won't be investing in it no matter what is his age.  I belong to middle-aged people and most of my peers are too but we are deep into cryptocurrency and I have met people younger than us who is very hesitant to involve themselves on the cryptocurrency industry.

Even it is up to individual's preference and selective nature, I guess what OP is missing is bitcoins. They must have tried for bitcoin to be adopted by their parent rather than trying for altcoins. If you are a middle age man and coming across latest  technology based things then probably you might got chances to know about bitcoins rather than ethereum or BNB.

So, if we try for bitcoin to be adopted by our friends or parents or relatives then we can be successful at higher probability. If we trey for unknown coin then we may not be successful as per my expereinces.

It's not just being middle aged, i wouldn't invest to something i woldn't understand or follow either. (Not that i understand most cryptocurrencies in the code level.) But cryptocurrencies are riskier, especially most altcoins, which you shouldn't bundle as one asset called "altcoins" as they differ in quality a lot.

Cryptocurrencies might be better tool to earn money now if you know what you are doing, but if you were in cryptos last 2 big bear cycles if you wouldn't say it's easy.

It's mentally exchausting to averaging in into something that goes down, especially when everyone close around you is telling you that you are an idiot for doing so. Or selling at the top, when everyone around you tells you are idiot and will miss the moon train.

In the end, you will get no credit from anyone, everyone just think you were lucky and say that they could have done it if they had bought the bottom. But at least you get money from it, so there's that.

Speaking of precious metals, that is exactly the preferred investment of most of the people I have dealt with here in our community. They prefer gold and silver in their investments, and not just the gold bars but these are all in jewelry. Even women whether single or wives would prefer gold and diamonds or any precious stone. Anyway, all I am saying is that not all people are really into digital assets like Bitcoin and the alts but whatever, I am going to continue investing and trading.

Similar case happened between me and my dad, he suspected me of doing some scamming activities in the internet but he couldn't tell me directly, he reported me to my friends, but they told him I buy and sell cryptocurrencies, he wasn't convinced and was confused, he has no shop for that, he replied them. In my own understanding, every generation has her means of making money, parents thinks the best way to earn money is by getting Certificate and work for the government because that's what they were taught and trained to be, neglecting government rules is by investing in livestock or other physical business,

What your father thinks is right , No matter how great cryptocurrency is at the moment, it is very risky when compared to real estate stocks and investments. However, we all believe that altcoins are the best future investment, making to double your money. You are very lucky because your parents are knowledgeable in stock trading, it is very natural that your parents don't want to get involved with cryptocurrency because of risk considerations, they prefer minimal profits over losses because all of that is done for the future economy of their children. I would suggest you learn from them and implement it in your crypto trading, it will be near to impossible to make parents understand about crypto and altcoins and their sudden growth. Most of the stock traders won't understand how to deal with crypto, especially senior citizens or parents. They all feel that crypto is something that is just a scam or not trustworthy.

Yeah, looking at crypto as a ponzi or scam is the most common misconception among elder people because these kind of technology innovations are something strange for them and when it comes along with their money things then definitely will never bother about learning anything out of this.

There are many pieces of research that have done (you may google it) and the result shows that most investors in cryptocurrencies are millennials who have the bravery to take a high risk to invest and love to take instant way to get rich, meanwhile boomers aren't like that. So it doesn't matter if they currently refuse, there will be time for them to start. most importantly, always provide an understanding of crypto, bitcoin, blockchain and altcoin. tell them about the benefits that can be obtained from this technology. explain also about the importance of decentralization, so I'm sure they will understand.

Personally, I think that investing in cryptocurrency is an amazing way to make amazing profits. There is no need to go far into investing in cryptocurrencies, even many of my peers who do not even know and do not want to hear about cryptocurrency do not believe. I agree, there are lots of new investors who lost a lot of money because they are too excited in joining the trend.  They invest their hard earned money without studying the possible risks involved on their action.  One should think twice and have a deep research before jumping in a somehow unstable market so that they can at create a risk management plan to minimize their possible losses.

I totally agree with you. It is very hard to change middle-age mind because they are quite obsolete and stubborn. They believe that they have lived long enough to trust their guts without hearing what a younger people say. I used to advice my parents to join the crypto world when I was a high school student. And it was useless, not only that, I was blamed for not being concentrated on my lesson and they told me to get rid of bitcoin or anything related.

But right now, they feel regret not listen to me.

your are engage with, and yes, never to force someone to invest without any knowledge about the venue or

Middle-aged people are very strict when it comes to investing. They prefer to invest there in what they are sure and have know very well. If they don't know about something or not familiar with, like cryptocurrency, then, it's really difficult to persuade them to invest in crypto. Much better to introduce cryptocurrency to them and educate them first slowly on how to invest on crypto and how to earn from it. It was digital so be prepared to understand and explain to them about crypto patiently because for sure they will not believe you at first. They should understand how a digital currency works.

     Investors, specially those who are well experienced in the traditional ways will never invest in this kind of industry since they have been used to the old ways which they have already familiarized themselves and are very comfortable with. What's worse is that in some olaces people's minds are so closed and uneducated that even stocks and currency trading are no different than bitcoin in their eyes and see all of them as scams or ponzis. Yes, media must be playing vital role on convincing new people to adopt bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. It is kind of basic belief among all people if something is covered by main stream media then the possibilities for that to go wrong is very less. At the same time, people just do not start believing into media but what they have been hearing among their friends and known people and the same thing is being talked on media then they will start believing.

Some sane people dont like to invest in something they dont know, i am also this kind of person. So i think if you wanna your dad invest in crypto you must be let he knows what is crypto, teaching he at first.

Maybe the way you deliver it doesn't interest your parents or your family. Because I managed to persuade my family to learn about crypto and in the end they became interested in investing in crypto. It is easy for them to enter a stock bubble, but yes as you say it is not easy to enter a crypto bubble. There is one big reason, they find it hard to invest in crypto.
Most of them don't understand what is crypto and think of it as something that is very speculative. Entering stocks is simpler with all the investment and trading offices around, and a central stock market on each country.
It is not easy for most to even understand the internet and the concept of decentralization.
They get confused and most that did invest have had a terrible experience as they did so right at the top of a bubble, while sold later at a big loss.
The market is also very difficult because of all the fomo and the fud. There are major publications and discussions from influental people that force investors to sell at the bottom and buy at the top.

I talked again to my mother, and from the looks of it she is not impressed by cryptocurrency. She is old now and ready to retire in 2 years. I want to help her by making an investment that will help her multiply her money 10 fold. Hopefully I can make another appeal to her and this time she would be able to listen and give me some money to grow in cryptocurrency. I think it is not too late but all I need to do is a little convincing.

Parents and elders have had a long time trying to survive and succeed in this society, hence their selection is often based on a perspective of years of experience, I would say they are living witnesses of successful investments, typically gold and real estate, the value after decades of these investments is enough to turn a person into a millionaire, it's hard to convince them to give up such safety and value to pursue such a risk as altcoins and crypto. They have no experience in this but our youth will be knowledgeable, so we should be proactive here, instead of encouraging them.

Everyone's investment profile is different. I personally have never invited people to dive into crypto, let them find me. I would be happy to teach them about crypto, especially if it's someone close to like family and close friends.

I think they need time and more persuasion from you. Maybe you should try another approach to them. Like you start investing your own money like 20 dollar for starter. Show them your binance account how it increase and how strong are your recommended coins like BNB amd ETH.

If where I live, in this pandemic season many of the people are starting to be interested in investing in cryptocurrency, they are already aware that cryptocurrency can make people successful in the future.
This is good news for me because automatically cryptocurrency development will develop very well in my country, if investors and traders wisely manage it.
But for now most of the young people who are interested in investing in cryptocurrency for the elderly are still afraid of failure and still think of many risks that make them afraid to start investing.
And I don't think they should think about it because with us learning and understanding the cryptocurrency world the fear is going to disappear from us.

When I said to my parents to invest in Bitcoin, at that time the price was under $1k, they didn't listen to me! Our next talk was when the price was around 5k (a years later, right after that dump in 2018), they didn't listen to me! So I know how hard is to talk with parents, but it was almost the same (if not worse) with my friends! I talked with them a lot more, and they didn't do anything about crypto!

Well, now it's my time to rub them on their nose every time they start talking about "how to make money & where to invest"... I was a joke back then, they were laughing when I start talking about crypto, but now I get the chance to tell them what a life opportunity they missed! And I add that it's still not too late to get into the game!

That was exactly what happened to me at that time, I was being laughed at by my mother. We talked about crypto and she just does not want to listen to me and says that it is not her thing. But she only has 2 years left before her retirement. I want to convince her that instead of buying gold I will try to convince her to invest her money on crypto and be able to make it upwards so that once she retires she will able to get the most out of that investment.

Well, it's kinda the same with my parents they more like in to the real state stuff telling me to buy land because it's a good investment, but I guess it is a good investment plus you could invest it as an apartment to earn a good passive income. It's also their money so they could do whatever they want in it, and it's not the money that we are risking, meaning investing in real estate is less risky for sure than investing in this cryptocurrency that's for sure.

I guess it is in their era when it comes to online things or technology they tell me that is just a scam that everything online is a scam, that I need to take out my money because it could be a scam and I need to be careful. Because in my country the news was just crazy to scams. I mean you could be a millionaire investing in bitcoin and Ethereum but it's the same as long as you invest it, we can't really convince them unless they experience how it works. Technically what they believed in because if you cash in your money and then it doesn't register on your account or something that is terrifying for them already.

So your best option was to invest your own money I mean in my position that is what I did, starting from 300$ of investment and I started to save all of my money just to earn that 300$.

i think the most currently who are interested in crypto are the younger generation. the fact is it's true that not everyone is interested in the world of crypto and they prefer to invest in something else. Everyone invests the same amount. Parents are in traditional assets, and you are in crypto. At the end of each year, you can summarize which choice will be the best. Well in my case I was able to convince my parents and some relatives to do so! They were not ready for the first time and they were like try to trade in front of us, show your assets and show the gains and losses proof you have incurred from this market. Then all I went to show them my portfolios from Binance and WazirX. Shown them how I earn from this forum and at the same time put some part of hard earned salary into altcoins and bitcoin strategically. I shown them the growth that I had over two to three years of period and they were ready for the whole stuff later on. Well, I had bonus by referring them and now they have mastered themselves to earn from the daily trades.
DOGE was the happy moment for them and they were truly thankful to me for that!  ;D

It is not as easy as you said, invest in crypto. We are in billish matket and everybody make profit. You will see a lot of people lose their money when bear matket comes and many people panic sell. Our parent hard to understand because this is not their world. They understand to invest in real life and have real asset. Give them time and reference to read.

To tell you that truth, it's hard to persuade them and yet again it's not good to persuade them as well because you and I knows what the risks are, volatility and others, so it's quite better you don't persuade them. What makes crypto less risky is the way you use it. Are you using crypto on platforms that can limit you whenever they want? You should focus more on well decentralized/safe, very useful, open-source cryptocurrency projects that allow you (and anyone else) to fully and easily control your coins/data, take part in full network consensus... and benefit from other important ideals/principles of Blockchain like transparency, immutablity, censorship resistant, permissionless/trustlessness, anonymity-friendly/privacy-friendly, good/clear rules, etc

If you find cryptocurrency projects with above ideals, that are solving very important problems in efficient manner, you can get your parents to invest in them long-term without too much fear. They could invest from 10% (& above) of what they want kept securely for them long-term or short-term

This sounds like a trading community, keep nagging them to try crypto,  you will be a local hero for introducing them to this new asset called crypto as they will likely see better profits than stocks and bonds.

Dont only persuade the Boomers to invest crypto by show off the price graph only, Boomers its not like most of us which Invest or Trade with many emotions.
Try to show the fundamentals of any good coin that you want to invest, in my case i always persuade people to invest on EOS by show the scalability, usecase, governance system, consensus mechanism, etc.

I think the high risk and volatility aren't what prevent them from investing, because they could start with small amounts like 10$-100$. If the issue was the high risk, low investments would be the solution for them, still they have no interest for it though. It's hard to persuade older people to get into crypto investment because they can't see its potential, they can't see it returning huge profit along the time, so they just ignore it.
But things are changing, because now it's impossible to not see how profitable crypto market is. Older people are seeing the progress crypto currency is doing, faster and faster each new year. I don't know what is it with parents and siblings. I guess they do not want to participate in cryptocurrency. I just tried to persuade me mum to try out investing in cryptocurrency. She was like doubtful and even asked my wife if she knows crypto and if she knows what I am possibly doing. She did said yes cause we are earning money in crypto. Anyway after that talk, in about a couple hours or so, up comes my sister messaging me why my mom is being dragged in this crypto thing? I did said not to do it they don't want to and that is the end of my persuasive talks with mum. Quite a bummer really.

Have you tried to show your dad the profits which you gained from investment of your pocket money in ethereum ?  Try to show him the price action graphs for Bitcoin, ethereum and show him that if he would have invested in them six months ago, how much profit would have been gained.  If he is still hesitant to agree with you then ask hm to invest only 10% of his wealth in crypto. I am sure sooner or later he will agree with you.

OP's father is into investment already but the only  difference is he prefer traditional one unlike crypto that is full of uncertainties and you might lose your money in just a quick time.

I think he might change his mind in the future but for now let him decide on his own because it's still useless if you keep convincing him but he shows no interest because he does'nt even know crypto that much. I think it is obvious that people know that they should not buy at the peak price, they just don't know what the peak price is and that is the problem. I for example believed ethereum peaked at around 2k and then it wouldn't goo too much high, it nearly doubled from the price I imagined it would. I also believed around 400 dollars would have been the highest for BNB as well but it went up super high as well and broke over 600 easily.

When it comes to doge, I do not even know what to say, I imagined 10 cents would have been the most incredibly the highest it could reach, at around 3 cents I said "people who believe it could be 1 dollars are all idiots" and look who is the idiot now. So long story short it is hard to predict what the top price for something will be, that is what I think creates all of the problems. As long as you can predict the top, rest is easy.

My parents are not middle aged anymore, they are already retired but still they have heard about bitcoins and crypto currencies. My family knows that I am involved with cryptos for years now and they keep asking me about it regularly. There is definitely some interest about the new asset class but investing they don't want. My family holds most of their money in cash at the bank which is the worst kind of investment right now. They don't get any interest and have to pay fees and lose money due to inflation.
