Title: There are a lot of scams on Twitter, and illegal links steal your assets.
Post by: Elenaolind on May 31, 2023, 09:10:11 AM
A few days ago, I saw a KOL with a large number of fans on Twitter. He was recommending a project recommended by many KOLs. As long as he followed his guidelines, he could get more airdrop tokens. As a result, when I clicked on the link, connect When my little fox wallet is signed and confirmed, my assets will be reset to zero. I checked the data on the chain, and in a short period of time, he actually defrauded more than 20,000 US dollars in digital currency, which is terrible.

It is unfortunate to see the scamming by Airdrop. Recently, many users are scammed by Pepe Airdrop links. Crypto Buyers should simply follow a rule that any DM or free offering is a Scam unless you are really sure that the person is an official in the community.

Any key opinion leader or any influencer is being paid by the advertiser, so inherently there is a bias. Specifically on cryptocurrency, many KOL does not even bother researching what they are advertising. This is a big red flag because cryptocurrencies especially altcoins are filled with a scam. They just get the money while their follower gets rugged.

It could not get worse on Twitter, it has been known that many scammers are exists on Twitter and they have deceived many people. One should stay away from an unknown person that lures you to do something that is cryptocurrencies-related.

Twitter is breeding ground of scammers, they can free post what they want there so we need to do our research before participating on any airdrops or giveaways since we never know the dev just want to collect data or just want to scam us there.  Also don't connect your personal or even use your main wallet on participating on airdrops which needs to connect our wallet or give permission to access their platform since this can possibly harm us badly. Its really terrible to see that there are so many people fall on scams there so hopefully they learn their lesson for incident happen to them.

First, never connect your wallet to any layer2 platform that doesn't guarantee your found security, and to be sincere with you, 90% of those so-called layer 2 wallet connects are aimed at scamming you of your money.

So your biggest mistake was to connect your personal wallet with the scammer's smart contract address and thereby exposing your wallet security, this is a known scam for a long so you have to learn from this.

If his total "profit" from that scam was "only" 20k $ in total, then i heavily doubt that this really was the Influencer that did this scam. I would guess that his twitter account was hacked by someone and then this guy posted this malicious link that drained your wallets. I doubt that a influencer that has a high number of followers already would throw away all of this for a scam like that.
Those influencers usually don't need to do scams like that. They are earning enough money by getting cheap tokens in the seed or private sale and then they shill it to their followers, which is also kinda scammy. In generall i would not trust that influencers to much, they are all just using their followers to grow their own bag.

That's why it's important to do your research first because the current airdrop is not the same as it used to be. Many projects that are deemed promising even with a verified Twitter account do NOT guarantee that they will pay off. Make this a lesson that to always be careful about links that are spread only to promise big profits. For beginners this is like an opportunity but for those who already know the act of blocking an account is a good choice. Do not easily believe and must always check all channels so that information is not swallowed up.

I'm sorry to hear that someone was scammed while investing in crypto. This is one of the risks of the cryptocurrency market, making investing a difficult challenge for both new and experienced investors. To avoid scams, you should always connect your wallet via a secure intermediary, such as the project's official website or in a trusted crypto wallet app, avoiding connecting your wallet to your wallet. themselves through untrusted or untrusted links. Not only twitter, but most social networks, forums, news channels,... are places of criminal activity.

Furthermore, before investing in any cryptocurrency, you should thoroughly understand the project, its development team, and its community. Make sure you only invest in cryptocurrencies that have sustainable development and future potential. Finally, always be vigilant and prudent in your investments and avoid investing too much in a single project to minimize risk.

A lot of people getting caught out with MM wallets these days. No matter how many times people are told not to store their recovery phrases on their devices or take a picture of them they still do.
People should using wallets like Gnosis or Safe as I think its called now. That way you can have two multisigs on it, one can be your MM wallet and then you could use a cold wallet, Trezor or Ledger for the other multi-sig.

It's quite unfortunate to see that people are getting ripped off while in search for more. There's really no wrong in desiring more but we all need to be careful as there are more opportunities to get ripped off when one is greedy. We need to avoid airdrop that requires the attachment of wallet address or use wallet address with very little fund to serve as transaction fee.

Cheating with glamor to attract trust, and taking advantage of ignorance to promote greedy thoughts in life is a selfishness of many people. The era of technology development, social networks are also a place filled with negative information, and the problem that I think users easily access and trust is always safe and reliable information very dangerous. Always be on the lookout for attractive offers about opportunities, because it's really not easy if we don't make efforts to learn to understand, through the story from OP I also want to remind new and interested people If you are looking for opportunities from crypto, always learn more about the skills to use and experience, everything is never easy if you lack knowledge with it.

The wrong move you are using.

You are investing by "KOLs", Influencer or someone who are promoted the project. The person doesn't care about the project scam or not, they only care the money they get from the promotion
- They promoted the project
- Getting money
- Out, doesn't care.

The person who are promoted not even invest anything or buy. Never invested by influencer, they all don't care.

Scammers can be anywhere and if there are lots of people talking about crypto, those scammers will mix in and give investment advice. Those of us who want to invest should learn more about the program to avoid being scammed. Everything can happen especially if it only requires a connection to a personal wallet where there are lots of coins that we store in that wallet. Maybe we can only do prevention by not using a wallet mixed with other coins but a wallet with no contents so that if something bad happens, we won't be affected.

yes... indeed there are scammers everywhere and are causing a lot of harm to investors, especially with the many scammers in the meme token project, it is very detrimental and we must always be careful because they can easily take our assets if we just connect our wallet.  at this time it is very dangerous, many meme token projects under the guise of airdrops take the assets of members.

Twitter and telegram is the hotspot platforms of scammers. Just avoid clicking link or interacting on this casino especially if you are a newbie or don't really have idea what you are doing. These scammers are doing anything to scam people like joining the current trend, impersonate influencers and even make smart contracts just to scam people. I believe that even crypto veterans can possibly be victimized by this scammers because some of them are really good to it. Just avoid using twitter if you find it as a threat or just don't click links that you think is harmful.

yes, now scammers are very smart and are everywhere, so we have to be more careful and never open suspicious links, especially those that promise if you can get profits quickly and easily (just block them), because that's definitely a scam, especially if you like participating in airdrop, then my advice is that you better to have 2 wallets (the main wallet to store all your assets and the second wallet to participate in airdrop), so it will make your crypto assets safer to store in the wallet.

One of the warnings that should not evade the mind of any cryptocurrency enthusiast is to avoid phising links at all cost. These links are responsible for the theft on one's wallet. The idea of connecting wallet to verify and obtain airdrops is something I disdain and strive to abstain from due to the risk potential.

For me a large number of followers does not mean they can be trusted. I meet a lot of Twitter users who have tens of thousands of followers and they are people who are hunting for referral links. Usually they are airdrop or giveaway hunters.

Maybe only verified Twitter accounts can be trusted. I apologize for the misfortune that has befallen you. Maybe this can be a lesson for other members so they can be careful when participating in airdrops. I honestly don't like Airdrops asking for KYC. Because for me personal data is more important than tens of dollars.

Even a verified Twitter account is not guaranteed to be trusted, I found a verified account with the lowest followers and does not use the original profile photo, we already know that verified accounts are charged a monthly fee, so be careful browsing information on Twitter and only trust news on account sources verified and valid.

Just understand that most followers you see on social media are fake or rather a bot, so when you see such an account, you should avoid it, it doesn't matter if it is a verified account because they can hack someones account and use it to scam people,

Lots of things like this has been happening recently because they always get some victim and poor newbies to follow their scam instruction which ended up with others losing their money. that's why when you happened to see such an offer just ignore it, especially those that are good to be true because non of them are really true. Greedy people always think that crypto investment is easy and they quickly doubled their money in a short period of time by following these scammer's instructions. they don't know it always takes time for the altcoins to grow and sometimes it will take years or months depending on the developer's dedication.

It's either his account is hacked or he is running the scam himself. Although I'm not familiar who KOL is, nevertheless let this be a big lesson for you and for others too.

- never click on any suspicious link
- never link your account or your wallet

So this is not only applicable to Twitter though, but to all any other social media accounts, you really need to be very careful in the world that we are involved with. Criminals are just everywhere.

Scammers are looking for channels where they know that crypto influencer use and some places where big news and events about crypto are happening that is why they use Twitter.
Airdrops are now almost 100% scam because no one will believe Aidrop again if they are legit because Scammers has already master the process by making use of it to scam innocent beginners in crypto space.

Only a small number of individuals, particularly regular investors, can honestly claim to have never fallen victim to a scam. Unfortunately, I too experienced being scammed a few years ago through Telegram when I invested in an ICO that turned out to be fraudulent, resulting in the loss of my funds. It's crucial to remember that scams can occur on any platform utilized by cryptocurrencies, not just limited to Twitter. Therefore, it is essential for us to exercise caution, gather sufficient information, and conduct thorough verifications before investing our funds.

Unfortunately that is true, there is nothing we can do to make any type of profit and that should be considered as reality. They may tell you there is a huge amount of money to be made, but there is none and you shouldn't do that. I personally hope that the best thing to do in this case would be getting as further away as possible and make a profit based on whatever you have. Too many people think about what they would do and most of them fail and they are not aware of how much trouble they are causing themselves. Just stay away, that is not reality and it will not benefit you and there is no other way, just do your own research and make your own money, that's it, there is nothing else.

Maybe we need more than 2 wallets to separate which one we can use as a main wallet, backup wallet and wallet to join in new projects. And after getting the results from the new project and the project is really valid, we can move the assets to another wallet so they won't be mixed with other new projects.

That way, we can prevent the wallet we use for a new project from being hacked because we have separated the assets from other wallets. This method is safer than combining new project assets into the same wallet when registering for another new project.

The social network space is increasingly accessible and abused for the wrong things, instead of people having access to more positive constructive information, it is easier to be trapped by money-making tricks. different flash methods. Some KOLs that I know they are really like a drum, completely with loud jokes :) , don't want to be punished but the act of receiving money to do wrong things, cheating on trust is something that used to happen. It's very popular on fb, tw, tg,... What I think we need to do is learn and re-evaluate everything by ourselves, not depending on any individual or organization for our best friend's decision, someone's information should only stop at the level of reference and not an assertion for us to decide.

It's not ideal to connect your wallet to any site despite the level of airdrop or rewards being gotten from the airdrop. Alternatively as I think is better to create account and move your valuable asset to new wallet or send little amount to the new wallet before connecting to the site in other to claim your rewards, besides you must not take all information on twitter into heart as some may not be genuine and authentic.

Are we to assume that twitter has the highest rate where scam projects and promotions were being made or consider other platforms, to me I've seen alot of social media platforms more worst than twitter, you can name it in their other like telegram, YouTube, Facebook and many others, they make use of theae platforms to launch the advertisements of their scam promotions because they can easily and quickly get the attention of those in a large number to take a look into what they are promoting, this call for being more sensitive to invite links, alert abd mails link that have suspicious content demanding our click o them.

KOL, the way to deceive many newcomers to this market, actually needs to look at the problem from many sides because I see mistakes in approaching this field knowledge of new entrants. Like the misconduct of some KOLs, they are willing to scam people for personal gain, and this I think will cost them over time, when the truth is exposed to some people almost had a life in hiding with everyone's tracking.
Anyway, this is a common problem, and everyone needs to be careful when experiencing and reminding everyone around about negative things, we want to build a clean and  environment

Don't you know that followers on social media can be bought at cheap price like $1 for 1000 followers then how can you go with the numbers without knowing what you are about to invest. Keep the term DYOR (Do Your Own Research) so if you got interest because someone suggested you to do so then maybe Googling the name may find 90% of the scams.

One more reason to avoid anything about shitcoins.

Beware Twitter scammers! Research airdrops, avoid personal wallet risks. Learn from others' mistakes. First Influencers and Whales buy at cheap prices, Pump, dump, and also soft rug pull.

Crypto Altcoins are tentative but DYOR

Unfortunately, Twitter has become a platform where scammers can freely post content. As such, you must exercise caution and diligently conduct research before engaging in airdrops, giveaways, or any other crypto-related activity. One tip is to use a separate wallet to minimize the risk to your main wallet or your personal funds in the unfortunate event of a scam. Although many people still fall victim to Twitter scams every day, it is a lesson for us to always be vigilant about them.

Nope not really. Unless you really know the verified twitter account way of doing things in crypto, You can somehow show your trust to them but there are a LOT of verified twitter accounts that are used in scamming. There are blue check twitter that are being sold online and some of it are hacked accounts that is new sole purpose is to exploit the kind of verification they have and scam people. I've seen someone with a blue check account that impersonate elon musk and posted malicious links on every reply on legit elon musk account. The scammer achieve scamming people that way based on the wallet address that the scammer is using. Never trust anyone on social media even if it's a blue check account.

Many verified accounts on Twitter are sharing deceptive posts. They really waste their money and time to make it believable. Generally, newbies chasing free tokens can quickly be deceived. I try to ignore other posts, except for a few twitter accounts that I know and trust. Although you do not follow, there are a lot of accounts, you need to be careful in the flow. I've been hearing about these cases a lot lately, especially on Twitter.

I try to ignore other posts, except for a few twitter accounts that I know and trust. Although you do not follow, there are a lot of accounts, you need to be careful in the flow. I've been hearing about these cases a lot lately, especially on Twitter.

Some scammers are actually buying verified accounts just so they could easily use it to scam people. They can easily make lots of people on that social media platform that they are legally running good projects. This is common not just on Twitter but also on other top social media sites. Lots of users unfortunately are still falling for their trap. That is why searching and double checking if there would be red flags is important for us to get rid of scammers. We should be skeptical because nowadays, they are even reaching out to people through DMs. People who aren't knowledgeable about these scam strategies are their usual target so as much as possible, we should warn our friends and loved ones about being aware of scamming activities.

I’m so sorry to hear that you were scammed by a fake KOL. That is a horrible experience and I hope you can recover your assets somehow. It is very important to be careful and vigilant when dealing with online projects and links, especially when they promise unrealistic rewards.

Now that's very very terrible and heart breaking. It is really not a pleasant experience having to fall for such a scam when you thought you are dealing genuine people.
I used to think this kind of scam usually occur on telegram, now they have migrated to Twitter and are seriously defrauding unsuspecting victim

It's unfortunate that scammers take advantage of people's desire to make quick profits in the crypto space. Greed and the promise of easy money can blind individuals to the risks involved and leave them vulnerable to fraud. New entrants into the crypto space must understand that legitimate investments take time and thorough research. So education and awareness are key to protecting yourself from scams. Newcomers should take the time to learn about cryptocurrency basics, blockchain technology, and investment strategies. Furthermore, be cautious and skeptical when it comes to investment opportunities, especially on social media platforms. This will prevent you from ever investing more than you can afford to lose.

This is one of the main primary rule here on crypto space when it comes to security on which you shouldnt click any random links online if you dont like on getting wrecked. Never ever making some confirmation and signed messages whenever it do really ask out whether you do have that fox wallet or metamask wallet or whatever wallet you do have because once you do that then say goodbye into your assets.
This what makes people do really realize when its too late. Never make yourself get blinded on whatever airdrops you are dealing off with in the market. If you are really that eager for some airdrop then
it would be always be making that a new wallet so that you wouldnt really be risking your entire balance or assets on such wallet if ever things turns out on having a problem.
People should really be that sensible when it comes into their actions and decisions.

Even old dogs like me have been scammed like this, and i am shamed to say recently. Not trough Twitter (because i don't trust anyone in twitter). But trough a bounty group i trusted (that's still active). I thought that they picked quality projects and had done their research so i wouldn't have to but it turned out they promoted just anyone who paid.

I didn't lose much but i was amazed that i still after all these years fell into that without thinking twice.

But just as a rule of thumb, don't click anything in telegram or twitter. They are just full of bots and spammers, and now with ton of verified fake accounts.

Scammers are using click baits as there are many naive users out there.
If it is too-good-to-be-true, doubt the motive of the airdrop.
Also, if in case you will participate, connect a new wallet that has nothing in it to test first.
As fraudsters don't care whether they will exhaust your funds or not, better secure your wallet first.
Right now, scammers are using social media platforms as there are so many gullible users who are after for get-rich-quick investments.

That is why we should have to be more cautious when it comes to investing online and most especially if we are about to click some links that we need to log in our passwords/usernames. In fact, this is not a new strategy of scammers but if you are a greedy person, you'd still fall into them which is why, despite the awareness we brought in here and even outside the forum, still a lot of people got tricked and scammers still continue doing this for they know that there are a lot of greedy individuals that can be their victim.

This is the main reason why I don't want to link my wallet to an unknown third-party platform especially a third-party platform that has no audit certificate, I do not know how to read the code of their smart contract so people like me all newbies can be deceived to link their profit for rewards and profit promised by these third party platforms.
People who are active in airdrops should be good at looking for all the signs that the platform is a dubious one or you will lose all your coins.

This is the sad reality, many already aware of this and still ignore it just for the sake of quick profit. Many are victim of these fake links, and for sure many will still fall. If you want to be more safe then better no to trust any links at all and do your necessary action before investing or downloading any files. Twitter is full of hackers and scammers, you have to double check always or else you will become a victim too.

This is true not only for Twitter, but for almost all social media platforms. Especially on Facebook, there are too many scam ads. Moreover, these ads are given directly to Facebook and are shown as sponsor ads. More so, it says that this amount of rewards or this exchange gives this award to new members via exchange platforms, please log in and check it immediately. As soon as you enter your email and password, your information is stolen. Definitely check the ads you open. It's good to be careful.

i couldnt sweat the fact that there are so many people out there getting scammed by some malicious contract that actually drain their wallet, it's really unfortunate though and I wonder how the devs keeping their smart contract from inspection from the masses.
after all such malicious contract should actually be detected easily by many.
but nowadays those scammers always use some kind of airdrop or minting to attract many attention and uses their platform.
i guess it's due to the fact that many are so hasty in making decision when it comes to such thing and couldn't think straight that maybe their assets are in risk of losing and getting drained by some scams.
good thing that nowadays already put some alert beforehand in their platform.

This is the case during the era of Elon Musk because there is no oversight of scammers to prevent them or legalize their backs. Suppose you see an account for a legit project that you follow. In that case, you will find thousands of fake accounts that impersonate the name of this project’s account and its logo, put the blue check mark, and publish illegal links to similar scam domains for the official project domain. Now, scammers take advantage of any popular trend on Twitter related to a currency or a specific project. They quickly put popular hashtags in their tweets and publish malicious links to trap victims, so Twitter has become a suitable space for scams. Their tweets are promoted in these trends like wildfire. Thousands of people lost their funds because of one mistake: not focusing before opening the link, connecting the main wallet, and giving approval of permissions to their wallet for this scam domain.

Twitter has become the new players where scammers are massively scamming others. I don't even know what metrics used by twitter but so many scam accounts are exist right now. It was making the situation even worst from time to the time with so many scammers being scammed through connecting their wallet through scam site that used by scammer to steal money. Never click any link being promoted in twitter. It's all scam without official confirmation.

That is the reason that you shouldn't base your decision through influencers and anyone randomly.

You also don't sign or connect your wallets to random links that they'll give you or else you'll be at loss and will regret that move. You can connect your wallet if you insist but make sure that it contains nothing.

Make a new wallet for testing if you want to take part of these airdrops so that you've got nothing to lose if you truly insist and want to test them out.

Trust nobody.

If you were to ask me, I would call Elon Musk one of the worst KOL since Steve Jobs. He promotes pump and dump coins like DOGE and as he is invested in DOGE, he is effectively market manipulating at this point, is he not?  How can you trust someone like that? What is the probability that his half baked hypes like exploding rockets and electrical cars, which catch fire for no reason. I have never really understood why anyone with a brain would support Elon Musk. All he has been doing on social media is stroking his own giant ego.

OP this is why it is important to keep yourself up to date with the methods used by scammers to get to our coins, this kind of scam has been around for some time and anyone that has read about it will never accept such a proposition as they will immediately realize what is going on.

With that said you need you rethink your strategy on this market, as the altcoin market is full of scammers, so this is something that not only happens on Twitter, it also happens on Telegram, Facebook and all social media websites, so you better learn how to distinguish those scams or this will keep happening to you.

Yes this has been happening for years even before Elon. Elon said he would fix it and maybe he tried something but a couple months later it’s the same scam spams going around.

I heard from tweet owners that they report those tweets and many times they don’t get removed or they get removed way too late.

Great, another reason for us not to trust any Twitter links or maybe anything that is getting published on the internet - blindly Nonetheless, this has been the story for many years now and definitely it will go way further in the future until million more are frauded with money. First, all of them started with open ICO contracts to the users. Literally, it was open, and public, everyone knew about these papers and projected roadmap. However, there was no real answer until we jumped in, got our coins at pre-sale, and after months of waiting we used to found that the projects had gone scam.

Now, this is advancing with all the airdrops, fake links, phishing sites, telegram scams, and whatever you could think about as scam attacks. There is also high growth of email-based scamming.

Most of it is related to the Alts, so stay safe guys. Watch out for scam, publish it here and make everyone aware about it.

First, I don't use the Twitter platform very often, because as far as I know, most of them are scammers like telegram apps. Social media platforms are really his target because most of the communities there are not aware of phishing links that are often used by scammers.

Also, I stopped using it when I heard that there will be a monthly payment for using Twitter apps, so I lost the desire to post on that platform, to be honest.

Scamming 101: "You can easily scam people that want to scam you."

I am receiving many emails that promise me free money every day. Do I get greedy and click them links? No. If I did, then I would lose everything in my PC.

These scammers using people's greed against them and it is one of the most profitable business models ever existed. Better than owning a casino probably because they don't even pay any taxes.

If we use these links  If we don't follow them, we will face many problems. All the information can be stolen by someone else for a little mistake, so we must always be careful.

That has been life for a long time, almost everyone who ever got scammed had that going for them because they were looking for a way of making money. I know that it is not going to end up with easy fixes, I know this, and you probably know this, but there are too many people who do not know it.

There are too many people who end up with nothing at all in the end and we are going to end up with a proper investment whereas they will end up with scams. If someone tells you that you could get rich quick, know that you can't, just get away from there and just stay as away from it as possible. I know that it hasn't been a thing for a long time but that was the case, that was the issue and I try to stay away from it as much as I possibly could and so should everyone else.

The best way is to delete it and block it immediately. Do not open any links when you get a linki message that indicates phishing. I also received many phishing emails and private messages on twitter. If you really want to connect with new DApps, it is better to use a new wallet that is not filled with any assets.
Be careful too because there are many ways fraudsters can steal your assets.

Now many accounts on twitter with blue ticks offer promising projects that is a trap because we don't always trust blue tick accounts basically they always cheat by providing links that lead to phishing sites, so it's no wonder there are many ways for them to cheat many people in other ways, including DMs from Twitter and also messages from Gmail, so many people came offering prizes or winning prizes, which obviously we have to be able to verify properly.

Twitter follower can be faked by bots. Scammers is now investing on their account by boosting their followers and paying for the verified check mark logo to make their account legit. There’s a lot of dangerous tweet all over twitter and you should not connect your wallet on random link provided by someone on social since there’s a possibility that the account is hacked or a serial scammer.

Twitter now have a feature that a user can notify all users that shares same interest on his post without the need to follow this specific Kol. Twitter ads is worst now and very beneficial for scammer. Stay away on twitter if you are not good on filtering scam to legit announcements.

I mean it is Twitter who would you trust in that scenario already. That's Twitter where most of the people there are claiming to be expert. That's why don't be greedy for looking a free airdrop in any social media, the chance you will get a worthy airdrop is really small and the chance you can get scammed is high, not to mention you have a chance to lose all of your tokens.

Secondary phone is really need in this case, you need to use a second phone to click a random or unsafe link and make sure there's no important or personal information in this phone, so even though your phone has a malware, you will not lose anything.

I would say everywhere in crypto space. Even in discord that is claimed to be safer than telegram is no longer safe. Projects discord accounts are being hacked and the hackers take over the account and send scamming link with fake airdrop info so users can get scammed.

Orbiter finance discord account recently got hacked and many members of their discord got affected because they clicked on the fake link posted by the hackers about the upcoming orb airdrop.
People should be extremely careful because these scammers and hackers are very determined.

As a result, when I clicked on the link, connect When my little fox wallet is signed and confirmed, my assets will be reset to zero. I checked the data on the chain, and in a short period of time, he actually defrauded more than 20,000 US dollars in digital currency, which is terrible.
Why do you follow the left links and even more so subscribe to incomprehensible sites? This is the first unwritten truth, do not trust and check several times before signing. Especially in social networks, it's clear that scammers are on the alert

When there is free money, people will always be greedy. In the beginning, I also fell for these scams like: "I will give 1 ETH to everybody that likes and comments on my post". In the back of your mind, you know it is a scam but you think it is free money and will still fall for it. On Twitter, these kind of scams are everywhere, so that is one of the reasons that I am barely active on Twitter.

Some scammers are buying old accounts just to fulfill their plans. People easily fall into tricks if someone messages them talking about earning a HUGE amount of profit from investing something and much more if they offer about receiving it from doing nothing and instantly. And by using that old social media account and influential name, they'll think that they are talking to the right person and the real owner of the said account. It is a very common issue these days, yet, if you are analyzing the situation and stop being greedy, you could really say "it is a scam".

When a newbie enters the crypto world, everything seems real to them, so they fall into the trap of seeing various tempting posts on social media. Scammers are now on the rise everywhere, including on Twitter, coming up with a variety of advanced scamming ideas that sometimes confuse even experienced crypto users. So there is a need to find a way to keep crypto users safe by raising awareness, as many crypto users lose their entire funds by falling victim to scammers.

While verified Twitter accounts are generally trusted, it is important to note that they can still be involved in scams, albeit not by directly entering your DMs and sending messages. It has been observed that some YouTubers, who often possess verified accounts, subtly aid in cryptocurrency scams.

Yes, these scam ads are seen a lot on social media platforms. But most of the time, scam ads like those seen on Telegram are sent. We have to stay far away from these scam ads and scam links. If we use these links  If we don't follow them, we will face many problems. All the information can be stolen by someone else for a little mistake, so we must always be careful.
It's been long since I visited my twitter handle and my other social media accounts are becoming idles and inactive lately and this is because I discovered that most of the information shared on those social media lack fact and authenticity and this is no different from fuds and rumours that can mislead their audience.

So the best possible practice is to avoid them in all totality or be selective in the kind of information you digest from social media like Twitter.

Those need to be identified and reported. What these account holders does is similar to providing paid reviews for services. For what they received as reward these people promote through the social media handles. All around the internet we were able to see more and more scam and fraudulent acts. We should know how to differentiate the legitimate one from the scam. Compared to the past days of social media platforms flooded with scams and different schemes, now there is better cleanup.

you can’t be so gullible, even if he has a large number of subscribers, this does not mean that he is not a scammer, so you need to be careful today, and in general I don’t pay attention to suspicious links that are posted on social networks and you are advised to do the same to do not become a victim of any scammers

You forgot to mention Facebook. It is the leading platform and it is more user-friendly than the two so expect that scammers will lurk here the most. If the link just randomly pop up from a random person, chances are that it was a scam so we must avoid. Even if you know it already, don't ever mess around with it because it can still potentially harm you. Joining the trend is one of the easy ways for a scammer to scam people because who doesn't like the trend?

But, it can be easy to spot a fake influencer because usually legit ones have a verified tag or a little check sign beside their names. No need to avoid Twitter or other social media sites completely as they are useful to us. We only need to follow the safety protocols.

It is way more profitable than owning a casino business, though it involves a lot of work because scammers are on it 24 hours to get as many victims as possible, they manage to get quite a lot of money every week or every month since we all know that there are a lot of greedy people that will get instantly interested if they see a website offering great returns on investments.

And the best part for scammers is, such people, will always be available for them, even if they fail to get everyone trapped if they manage to get at least 5 to 10 people out of a thousand, they will still be doing great because they take away quite a lot of money from the victims.

Why do people still continue to believe people over the internet.  Never click links from someone you don't know including someone who is "popular".  Interneting 101 people.  All for air drops?  I'm sorry you lost money but never believe anyone you unfortunately had to learn the hard way.
No amount of warning will stop many people from falling for this click bait partly because of looking for free money after being brainwashed into it with a fake Photoshops showing earned money from the so-called fake airdropi and newbies who wanted to try their luck with crypto without having any knowledge of the system especially by clicking phishing links unknowingly, and quite unfortunate that Twitter don't restrict those fake links by pulling them down because they are not subjected to any form of validation, it's a pity that many newbies will be scammed due to their unawareness of the fraudulent activities of those scammers.

My advice is that various social account projects that verify or have many followers don't easily click on the link

There may be several reasons that make people continue to join airdrops, especially for those airdrop hunters who are already like a job. I once joined the telegram special airdrop group. They participate in airdrops every day, sometimes several airdrops a day. And they like to do all the airdrops that are informed, where the airdrops are usually filtered first by the admin. And regarding the results, no one can promise that what they are doing will produce results.

Sometimes, of the hundreds of airdrops that they participate in, only 1 is worthy. But sometimes that 1 airdrop can be worth a lot, like the case of Yesterday's ARB. however, this is indeed very uncertain. And in my opinion, this cannot be used as the main income, only on the side which does not need to set too many targets.

What's more, this requires attention and caution because what is feared is the installation of applications that may contain malware or phishing links that will actually make our assets disappear.

added with the fact that nowadays the twitter badge becoming kind of useless, that just makes the platform worse in my opinion.
so many scammers have been using their badge just to lure people into thinking they are legitimate, while it's clear that they are not, in which definitely gonna be problem.
i think everyone should instead find information from other sources like from discord and see if the project is legitimate and even the devs are legit, that way it will minimize the chance of getting drained.
moreover, the fact there are so many scams dapps nowadays, that the risk outweigh the chance of getting profit from following airdrop just didn't make it worth it to be honest.

Yes, we always have to look for trusted sources and check from Twitter or the original Discord whether they are holding an airdrop or not if they have confirmed about it then make sure the airdrop is legit.

Twitter, telegram and discord now become the source of scamming people. Many newbies are scammed in this way. we should always double check any link before connecting our wallet as hackers use phising website to empty your wallet. Only verifing the official account is not enough because some time hacket got access to official account and sent fake site to collect airdrop. This is easy task for hackers. Instead of Blockchain contract they are now have an eye on these official discord servers and twitter accounts which is easier to hack.

Leaving all "I am Elon Musk I am distributing money to everyone!" obvious scams (at which point they made half a million dollars before people got wise), I could easily say that it is not going to stop because they are getting better and better at hiding it.

You know which scams are the worst? The ones that are like a company, you may not fall for a person trying to trick you, but if they build a company with great SEO and amazing marketing and even tv ads etc etc, if you start seeing them everywhere, you will think that it is just another project, and maybe you won't invest into another new project that's normal, but there will be a lot of people who fall for it, whereas they will be just another scam, they call it "rugpull" instead.

Scammers a lot there (twitter). They put the link up and running. Be careful. The reason behind the scam is the anonymity and irreversible nature of blockchain transactions. So, we don't know who is behind it. Fraudsters exploit these features to scam people out of their digital assets without fear of being tracked or held accountable. Plus, the hype around cryptocurrencies and airdrops attracts many Indonesian users who may not be aware of the risks involved. Before participating in any online investment or project, especially in the digital currency space, always verify the authenticity of the project, its developers and who is the team behind it. Browse websites, social media and many more, you can explore yourself.

Such an elaborate scam has way more chances to get people interested in it, but  it is precisely that exposure what will allow some people to identify it is a scam at an early stage, but what happens is that a great deal of people would have invested in that project already and as such they are committed to its success.

So they begin to attack those which expose the truth in an attempt to silence them and keep the project going, and once the project is revealed to be a scam anyway not only they will lose their money but a great deal of credibility as well as they defended a project which was clearly a scam.

When engaging in online campaigns or following KOL recommendations, it's critical to always proceed with care. Remember that reputable projects and airdrops will never need your private wallet details or cash transfer in order to obtain tokens. Change your passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and periodically check your accounts for any unusual behavior to further safeguard your digital assets.

Accounts with blue ticks or not, I don't really trust anything in twitter. That platform has always been the home for the scammers, shillers, and hypers of shitcoins and this has been something that many people using that platform didn't notice. I don't know how many more people are going to get victimized by this kind fraud or tricks to steal from mediocre investors. Isn't buying that blue tick is not much expensive? or is it? coz I don't know it I'm not using the Twitter anyway. That's basically buying your way to get more people to believe you and scam them on the latter.

Don't trust anyone and don't connect your wallet easily (especially if you have funds in it) just because you want to get some airdrop tokens. If this KOL is posting links to scam others, there's also a chance the account is hacked and was used by scammers to attract the people.

Hence, don't easily bite what they're offering and always take time to verify if it's reliable. Scammers are everywhere so if you don't want to end up becoming a victim then DYOR and don't be easily attracted in airdrops.

Eversince, such scheme has been existing in this indusstry and even outside. People keep faalling for suspiscious links with desire of earning free money by jist clicking. First of all, there's no such thing. We are all tired of hearing stories on how they became a vicitim wherein they're the ones who pushed through. This will continue as long as there are people being unrealistic of how investments should be done.

It is not because i'm smart or what not but because I am learning from others who made the mistake. Also with the idea that if by clicking I'd eaarn, why are not all people in this industry rich?

But why should you need to join airdrops when all of those are scam, worthless nowadays. potential airdrops are available but rarely. But Twitter, telegram and others platforms are used to fraud with people, in most of the cases. As a result, you are a example that what can happened. Although Anyone can join if wish but DYOR. But it is advised never connect with their website or sending fund to have eligible for that airdrop or you'll lost everything
Since airdrop was unpredictable and anyone was increasing their chance to get it for free by participating in the various airdrop at this moments. They are having very strong reason why they shall have joined in so many airdrops.

If you can't play with quality and you must play with quantity.

Absolutely, it's crucial to be cautious and protect yourself from scams on Twitter. There are scammers who try to steal your assets by sharing illegal links. They may pose as popular individuals or projects, promising airdrops or investment opportunities. If you click on these links and give them your wallet information, your assets can be stolen. To stay safe, remember to be careful, verify sources, double-check URLs, and avoid sharing personal information. Stick to official channels and use secure wallets to safeguard your assets.

It is an existing concern for most but the problem is that people are still careless when dealing with links sends to them. They just click it and later they realized that they got caught with the bait. See how scammers take their chance and become their victims and this is because we are focused on what we have read (earnings/money) rather than thinking about what will happen next. That is why regrets never happen first but late - and so whatever we do, this won't change the reality, scams continue.

Nahh, just don't click on random links especially on twitter. Last month my friend has lost their asset because she clicked on random link on social media.
So, just click on links from people you 100 percent trust, and even so, try typing the link out and doing research to see if it is reliable or not.

I usually avoid participating in airdrop projects that necessitate wallet connection due to the inherent risk involved. Connecting one's wallet to unfamiliar projects can be highly perilous as their intentions are often unknown. When considering joining an airdrop, it is advisable to solely rely on official channels. It is unwise to trust arbitrary tweets from unknown individuals, as doing so can potentially result in wallet hacking. If still wants to join random airdrops use the new wallet.

Never click a link without thinking. Google it first if necessary. It's sad to hear that there are a lot of people who do these things and how I wish they will just be gone. It's unfair to those who are working their ass to save money and invest it and then just be stolen by those thugs that think they are above the law.
I guess every country now should increase their security in this matter and then social media outlets should also increase their monitoring workers that would delete those links that you experienced.
My Twitter is kind of a big problem for me too, I don't know why but there are so many unknown people who just keep on popping out my notifications. Twitter badly needs some fixing.

Sometimes they don't really understand about it. But my advice is never link your wallet with layer-2 if you are not sure about it. I've never wanted to link my wallet to get a few dollars from Airdrops.

Yes, it is true that there are many scams on twitter that attempt to steal digital assets and personal information from users. These scams can take many different forms including phishing attacks, fake giveaways and fraudulent investment schemes. Phishing attacks are one of the most common types of scams on Twitter. These attacks typically involve a hacker posing as a legitimate entity, such as a well known company or celebrity, and sending messages to users asking for their personal information or login credentials. Once the hacker has this information, the can use it to steal the user's digital assets or commit other forms of identity theft. Fake giveaways are another common type of scam on twitter. These scams typically involve a user or company offering a prize or reward in exchange for the users personal information or digital assets. Once the user has provided this information, the scammer disappears and the user is left with nothing. Finally, fraudulent investment schemes are also known on twitter. These schemes typically involve as user or company promising high returns on investments in crypto currencies or other digital assets. These promises are usually too good to be true, and the user ends up losing their money.

This is difficult for some people, especially for those people who are just new in the space of cryptocurrency.
And for sure most of the victims of these scams are newbies maybe 90% - 100% of victims are newbies.

Even though these social media platforms continue to fight these kinds of scams still, scammers will always find ways. People must always learn first before doing anything that involves their money.

Not only in tweeter my friend but also in a different social media sites, there are a lot of scammer even in telegram scammer will add you to thier telegram group with an airdrop and and if you connect your wallet to that link you will loss all the asset of your wallet, that is why you need to separate or make a new wallet every now and then separate it to the wallet that has an asset, because one wrong move your asset will be loss. We need to be careful scammers are smart and they are very good on scamming.

bro it's an insane thing, imagine you follow some official tokens/protocol, etc and you see them tweet a giveaway, most people will give in already and they don't realize yet, that their account got hacked with Simswap or something.

The bottom line for that thing was to not be greedy, if it's too good to be true then maybe it is too good to be true.

It’s not strictly limited to crypto. There have been fraudsters & scammers everywhere since money was used as a means of payment. We can go back hundreds of years & read about thieves etc. There have been sophisticated scammers at large since the internet was invented & even before that. Just be smart, if something seems too good to be true then it almost certainly is. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

It is one of the ways these hackers steal lots of wallet address yet many of them don't know this tricks they used in obtaining their funds in the wallet. What they do is that, they promised to give the first 20 wallet in the comment section $10 and then the gullible ones will fall for them and share their wallet in the comment section, and the scammers will then send then fake tokens to interact with, that is the bait and the moment they try to sell the token, they extract their private key in that process and when the hacker manually check the wallet, they drain every single thing they found in those wallet, this is one of the master plan scammers used in stealing assets from wallet addresses.

I think you have yourself to blame, you should have a separate address for claiming Airdrops. You have $20,000 worth of crypto and you are risking it for few tokens that you are not even sure it is going to have real value on the market. The account you are talking about might have been hacked and the hacker will just post the link knowing fully well human nature we love free food .

Social media platforms are full of scams these days, and it's not only about Twitter, I know that there are way too many scammers on Twitter mainly scamming users for airdrops and token sales by creating fake accounts and fake websites but if you look at Facebook as well, you will find an enormous amount of scammers as well which are always looking for victims and mostly newbies get to become their victims because of lack of knowledge.

People who are greedy are usually more vulnerable to such scams because they think that they can gain a lot of money out of thin air like it's that easy to earn money but in reality that's now how it works, a lot of newbies think that cryptocurrencies are a way to earn a lot of money very easily.

Influencers are one of the biggest problems of the cryptocurrency market because they don't care about the market but just want to shill the tokens they have been paid to shill and they don't care if the project are scammers and people's are going to lose money when they invest in the project because they recommended it to their followers, influencers shouldn't be trusted.
There's lots of scammers on twitter because twitter is very free to use just as we have lots of scammers on telegram because telegram is very convenient to use by this scammers in defrauding investors. We have to be careful of who we allow to come into our DMs on social medias. Scammers are working everyday to scam investors, don't be deceived like others.
If you're on any of the social media like Twitter, telegram etc that has lots of scammers, you can help in cleaning the media by reporting scammers when they contact you and try to convince you to invest into the project that they're promoting but it's a scam. Always protect your investment as we're responsibility for anything that happens to our investment.

I am well aware of it that’s why we have to be very careful in clicking links there. Make sure that we must start making a strong habit of checking Twitter (X.com) handles to see if they are correct or not and if it has either Blue or Yellow check mark.

In my own profile, I got daily notifications from time to time tagging me in their fake airdrops. I just didn’t mind them. Also part of the habit is to disconnect to sites if not in use and revoke permissions as well via Revoke.cash or De.Fi scanner. Better safe than sorry.

Never easily trust any account on social media, even if they seem to have a lot of followers or have a blue tick. Because sometimes, followers can be bought easily and so are blue marks which are no longer special. Especially if they promote a project or anything related to instructions to click on links, connect with personal wallets, deposit money first and some other suspicious activity. Better to avoid. because not only on social media but also on email, PM < website, YouTube, and various other sources. Watch out.

This is one reason why never click any DM or tweet links because of the rampant malware injection that happens on social media.  I tried it once but I was lucky to have an internet security installed on my PC and blocked the possible malware injection.

I also skipped any unreputable or unverified project that advertises an airdrop and the need to connect the wallet to claim that airdrop.

These are not real fans but all followers are either bot got from smmpanel or twitter account has been hacked. These attacks are become normal now adays. we must do all safety task before connecting wallet. Actually when we connect our wallet, it's promt for signin and there is hidden fee message we cannot view, when we signed in our wallet reset to zero. We should install extension wallet guard or any other extension which show the full message and show us hidden charges while signing any transaction. sorry for your loss but it's your fault too that you connected your wallet without any research. If you see scam accusation thread, you will find many stories of hacking wallet.

20,000$ is very big amount and I think one user having large fund got victim of this hackers. we should never connect our Main wallet. If we want to hunt airdrop we should use sperate wallet with small fee only. Thanks for your warning too to help newbie because most if newbie connect wallet without research.

What you suggested wouldn't make a difference, it's not just about clicking that link but it's about interacting with the page that gives them access to your accounts or maybe your computer if they can inject a malware into your PC through the page when you interact with it. However, the thing is, we should avoid using websites of any kind that we don't trust because any website can be a scam these days, and we need to be careful from every single one of them.

Twitter has always been the place for scammers to scam innocent people with fake followers and fake accounts most of the times. They always post links to websites where they pretend to be giving away money, NFTs, airdrops and people believe in them because they are greedy and also because the scammers impersonate official handles of projects.

For being popular in the crypto world, scammers often use Twitter to promote phishing links claimed to be an official airdrop. If you are an airdrop hunter, you will probably try to claim it, which is risky. So it will be secure for you to use another wallet to store your long-term holdings and a dummy wallet to participate in the airdrop. There are some tools that can help you get notified before giving access to any piggyback smart contract. Use them as well to improve security.

That's very bad to see a scam airdrop, which was a friend been a victim of such situation, that makes me not to connect my wallet as a result of claiming token, any airdrop that can not send direct to wallet, better let go airdrop, most times is greed that makes us fall a victim in the hands of scammers link.

It is really hard to verify if the airdrop is a real, scam or a phishing link. I do the same by using a dummy wallet. This is one of the ways to avoid situations where they can get your stored crypto in your wallet. Most airdrop hunters just signed up on the airdrop without verifying whether the link is a safe link or not, since it is only distributed for free, and slots are sometimes limited.

I have participated in airdrops before and used a dummy wallet, most of them will make you ask permission and connect your wallet to their website. Using a dummy wallet can be a lot of work to do since you have to make a new wallet multiple times in different airdrops, but it is better than being a victim of phishing links and losing all your assets.

Op they literally set a bot which works for scammers to make the available amount withdraw instantly after connecting your wallets with their fake websites or links. That issue is not me but still critical mainly for new comers who are in hunt of airdrops for free money. There's no solution except carefulness from such kind of things. And 20,000$ is a lot. Don't connect such wallet with such amount anywhere even if they are real
