Detailed Summary Of Information Regarding NEM

Quick Overview and Highlights

NEM will include the following features:

  • All 4,000,000,000 NEM would be distributed with the genesis block. Nemsters who run the client and own NEM act as network nodes, verifying transactions and protecting the network following a hybrid of Proof of Stake/ Proof of Importance forging mechanism. The unique PoI algorithm will reward nodes which are most important to the network, not those with the largest amount of NEM. This encourages NEM's use as a currency and discourages hoarding. This type of distribution eliminates the myriad number of problems associated with first-generation PoW 'mining' coins; sky-rocketing energy costs, centralisation et al.
  • Support for 'colored coins' and a fully featured asset exchange, designed with advanced features such as automatic settlement and expiration dates. The developers are focussing on the usability of the asset exchange to make it the premium platform for fundraising, asset listing, token issuing et al.
  • Secure messages for contract storage and personal communication.

The V1 blockchain will be complete when all the above features are implemented. More advanced features such as parallel blockchains and an Eigentrust ++ reputation system will be included in future blockchain updates.

What is NEM and what do we stand for?

The two main products under development are the NIS (NEM Infrastructure Server) and NCC (NEM Community Client). These, once fully developed, will be one of the most advanced decentralized blockchains in the world. The code is written from scratch in the Java and Javascript (NCC) languages and features new innovation in blockchain server technology such as the Proof of Importance (POI) algorithm, account rules and Eigentrust ++ listing. The NCC has a distinct, beautiful design which is completely new compared with first-generation PoW coin wallets. The NCC design supports multiple new functionalities in the NIS and puts security and user friendliness first.

The NIS and NCC completion (with the above features implemented) will mark NEM the V1 blockchain (NEM will launch before this point though, probably during the beta phase of testing). However that is just the beginning of the NEM ecosystem technological road-map. We are prepared to go full speed ahead to build the NEM ecosystem as soon as the NIS and NCC go live. The NEM ecosystem team already includes dozens of people who strive to motivate NEM's developers and bring in new developers to help with building the NEM ecosystem. More importantly, we will attract new developers by offering them a coherent vision of the NEM technological roadmap that will show our commitment to build and develop the NEM decentralized system successfully in the long term. After the V1 blockchain has been released, the NEM core software will still be developed continuously with the aim to support the load of the growing NEM ecosystem as well as to update the network with new features over time.

Our decentralized network needs to be nurtured and supported by its community. Indeed, we are already thankful for having an amazing community of about 3000 Nemsters. The NEM ecosystem will draw its security from the community nodes run by it's users. It is this we would ask of all Nemsters - run a node to keep the NEM ecosystem secure.

NEM will be created with a maximum of 4 billion (4,000,000,000 or 4e9) units divisible to 6 figures after zero (smallest unit 0.000001 NEM). All coins will be distributed come launch of the genesis block (see 'NEM Distribution' below).

A preliminary draft (https://docs.google.com/document/d/19so-Jy3Gqw2KltZP-gaw3oFaHliN0OdtwZktOP4pCOQ/edit?pli=1) of the NEM development contract has already been released in which the above outlines are officially written and introduced into an agreement with all NEM stakeholders. Up until the final version of the NEM development contract, these outlines could be subject to modifications and you are also allowed to request a refund if you no longer wish to be a NEM contributor. It should be noted and clearly specified that the refund is only available to those who joined NEM during the call to participation period. Refund does not apply to any stake which is sold either on NXT AE or NEM public auction.

If you are willing and eager to join the NEM ecosystem, please consider buying a NEM stake either on the NXT AE (be sure to read these guidelines (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=616467.msg6821496#msg6821496) before proceeding to buying a NEMstake on NXT AE.) or during the public auction that we will announce shortly. This will entitle you to be a regular stakeholder with a share of 1 million NEM upon NEM's official launch. We further invite you to contribute to NEM's promotion and the NEM ecosystem building effort to enjoy NEM development shares reserved for these activities. Most of all, we hope you we be a long term supporter of NEM, supporting us in building network security and spreading the word about our efforts to transform the world's current monetary system; the state centralized and corrupted banks.

Together we will build a new economy based on the principles of financial freedom, decentralization and Solidarity.

Thank you.

 - The NEM Development Team

The NEM Development Contract is an informal contract which all stakeholders are asked to agree to and respect. If you do not agree, you can request a refund in the appropriate thread (linked above).

NEM Distribution

The 4,000,000,000 NEM coins are distributed as follows:

https://i.imgur.com/83VPsUY.jpg

'Development Funding Up To V.1 Completion' is used for:

  • Core development - 400 stakes
  • Promotion/ Marketing - 100 stakes
  • Ecosystem - 100 stakes

'Development Funding After V.1 Completion' is used for:

  • Funding developers for large projects and updates post-release, including: private transaction mode, encrypted social messaging system, multi-signature implementation, establishing NEM using zones (street, shopping square, commune et al) and other important ecosystem projects.

A NOTE ON THE POST-RELEASE DEVELOPMENT FUND:

  • It will be released gradually over time: maximum average of 10% every 2 months. This means the full amount will be paid off in close to 20 months (probably longer); a testament to the dedication of the developers to their long-term plans for NEM's future.

Some clarifications regarding fundraising:

  • 'Development fund' - initial fund raising (from the call for participation) + pre-launch public auction
  • 'Initial fund raising' (from the call for participation) - 66.2 btc + 419,697 nxt (minus some refunds)
  • 'External expenses' - independent code audit,  bug tracker bounties, contractor salaries et al.
  • 'Development bonus' = 'Development fund' subtract 'External Expenses'
  • Development bonus is allocated proportionally to development shares up to V1 blockchain completion

Note: The development fund, development reserve (post-release funding), and development shares do not belong to the community. They are under the control of the NEM development team and will be used to best advance the NEM ecosystem.

Fundraising History and Stakeholder Statistics

History of Stake Allocation:

  • The goal of the NEM call for participation was to build a large, willing community that can support the NEM's ecosystem from the start. The rule of registration is one share per account, however stakeholder's can reserve a share for their loved one from a different account.
  • Taint analysis was then used during a one month period of public auditing to find accounts that were abusing the system. Taint analysis was a surprise factor; it was never mentioned during the fundraising. Close to 300 accounts were refunded.
  • A waiting list was opened to fill the 300 stakes made available from the removal of sockpuppets. From this waiting list, 145 people were selected to join NEM. The remaining 155 stakes will be auctioned at a later date.

Stakeholder population statistics:

Group 1: veteran account; at least a 'junior' member; high activity; account opened before the fundraising - 1205 stakeholders
Group 2: account opened after January 16 (start of fundraising); recent activity of ~ 15 posts; show NEM support - about 645 stakeholders
Group 3: account with ~ 10 posts; some junk posts - about 995 stakeholders

These stakeholder statistics are displayed graphically below:
https://i.imgur.com/6xwkmnA.jpg

Stake Auction Details

155 NEM stakes will be put on a public auction. These are the stakes which belonged to sockpuppets.

The auction will happen using the Bitcoin blockchain and follow the multi-auction format. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiunit_auction) Instructions below:

1. On the auction day, a Bitcoin escrow address will be revealed at a designated time.
2. Each transaction to the escrow address will be considered a bid. Two transactions from the same address to the escrow address will be considered two separate bids.
3. The auction will last at least 24 hours (but less than 36 hours).
4. Bidders could monitor the bidding process in real time via blockchain.info (http://www.blockchain.info).
5. When the auction ends, X highest bidders (X biggest transactions) will win X stakes.
6. We will refund all non-winning bids minus the transaction fee and a service fee. All winning bids will receive back the difference between the winning bid price and the lowest winning bid price minus the transaction fee and a service fee. A service fee is for the escrow service (for tallying and refunding the bids).
7. Example: there are 3 bids: 1 btc, 1.2 btc and 2 btc and all are winning bids. Since 1 btc is the lowest winning bid price then bidders of 1.2 btc and 2 btc will win a stake and get a refund of 0.2 and 1 btc respectively.
8. There is a limit of two bids for each sending address and taint analysis will be used on the escrow address to make sure no address wins more than 2 stakes.
9. The sending address of the winning bid will be the identifier of the owner of the won stake.
Therefore the winning bid sender should later provide a NEM address to receive the share via a signed messages from the sending address. Signed message could be done via popular bitcoin wallets such as multibit, bitcoin-qt or blockchain.info.
10. Bidding recommendation: bidders should consider placing only 1 bid if they want to buy 1 stake and placing the highest bid that they are willing to buy. Since the buying price for all stakes will be equal to the minimum winning bid, there is no risk of over-paying for a stake.

Note: The date for the auction is not set yet and will be announced later on in the discussion thread.

NP.

I was thinking that chapter about stakeholder population statistics. Could it be good to mention that statistics refer to BTT, cos if someone out of this community read that part, he might be confused and cannot affiliate data?

Anyway as a not so avid in English, I found that handout is easy to read and understand. All the main points are highlighted and surely newbies will be excited about NEM.

Kicking in an open door here but a link to the nxtra.org wallet might also help. I spend a short hour looking before I could find an obvious link to an easy to use and legit nxt wallet. Apart from that: good work!

perhaps put a link(or a quote) to my explanation of how to set up nxt AE and claim your nem stake? i get asked many questions and this thread plus my post would answer 99% of them in one place while also informing people of loads of other things at the same time?

Somebody in charge of funding new NXT accounts would also be good. Tried two NXT faucets but both were crap.  Kodtycoon however, funded (and allowed me to secure) my account within minutes after I begged for some nickels.

Yeah, Kodtycoon please make that thread. Setting up NXT shit confuses me. I don't think I'm alone.

edit:

i was just thinking.. perhaps a "getting started" thread could be posted.. with different topics like setting up the nxt AE(and rules like 2 stakes per account ), claiming your nem stake(and rules in relation to distribution of nem to those who hold stakes on AE), timeline of development, list of nem related links, updates ect ect put in comments with the first post being an index containing each topic(post) with a link to each post so people can very easily find the info they need in a short a time as possible.

that way if any questions are asked we can just link that thread? if there are any questions asked that are not answered in the posts we start a FAQ's post and link to it in the index post.

posts with a mountain of information can be daunting and hard to navigate. this could be for more experienced investors and the other for noobs?

i can organize this if its wanted/needed?

edit:

great post by the way xtester!

@mrrr

i can state in the setting up NXT AE post that noobs can contact me for nxt(2-3nxt max) and il send them to them asap.. no promises made on timing. il say now though that il stop sending to people or make a rule that i wont send to brand new bitcointalk accounts if anyone starts taking the piss lol.

edit:

actually im just going to make that thread later! i think its highly needed at this stage for new comers!

If you want I can add all those links under useful links or update it and create another section with getting started.

Feel free to contribute and hopefully we'll be able to make this an interesting and productive thread.

I would love to translate that to Croatian. What would be the simplest and most streamlined way to do that? I've put myself on the Trello board as Cro translator.
Should we use some system/solution for translating NEM publications/announcements?

perhaps put a link(or a quote) to my explanation of how to set up nxt AE and claim your nem stake? i get asked many questions and this thread plus my post would answer 99% of them in one place while also informing people of loads of other things at the same time?

edit:

i was just thinking.. perhaps a "getting started" thread could be posted.. with different topics like setting up the nxt AE(and rules like 2 stakes per account ), claiming your nem stake(and rules in relation to distribution of nem to those who hold stakes on AE), timeline of development, list of nem related links, updates ect ect put in comments with the first post being an index containing each topic(post) with a link to each post so people can very easily find the info they need in a short a time as possible.

that way if any questions are asked we can just link that thread? if there are any questions asked that are not answered in the posts we start a FAQ's post and link to it in the index post.

posts with a mountain of information can be daunting and hard to navigate. this could be for more experienced investors and the other for noobs?

i can organize this if its wanted/needed?

edit:

great post by the way xtester!

I will also cross-post this here since I think it might be interesting and instructive for all Nemsters and investors.

NEM's Great Equality Experiment And The Marshmallow Test

What Equality Means?

The other day I found myself reflecting on NEM, what it is and what we all want to make of it. It seems there is a great discussion going on in the world regarding inequality and so NEM equality experiment comes at the precisely right point in time. As usual I think people focus on the wrong things. We should strive to give people equal opportunities, but they are not and should not be equal in outcome. In fact, though most of us start as equal now, I have no doubt we will not end as equal. If high productivity people work and risk 10x more than the other people, it's common sense that they should also be rewarded 10x more. Indeed, I think this kind of inequality is a natural and even necessary effect of the free market. If you would want to cut this kind of inequality off, you would also have to cut startups, inventions and innovations with it, since this may be the greatest driver for that.

Here are two quotes with which I tend to agree:
Quote
Worry about skin in the game, not inequality. Worry about equality in opportunity not outcome. Worry about the powerful corporations taking over the system via lobbyists and blocking artisans. Worry about the class of privileged mandarins-WNSITG (with no skin in the game) taking over the system via "grandes ecoles"..." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Quote

Free people are not equal, and equal people are not free. - Unknown

NEM And The Altcoin Landscape

Unfortunately the altcoin landscape is currently plagued with cheap scams and elaborate pump and dump schemes along with a horde of impulsive people enjoying playing this game. However NEM has nothing to do with this landscape. While we may well go through a cambrian crypto-explosion phase, NEM seems to be already between the fittest and is only getting stronger every passing day.

I know things are more complex but for the sake of simplicity consider the following graph:

                                                                              The Altcoin Landscape

Cheap Scams          Elaborate Scams             Clones                Low Innovation         Deep Innovation
                                      I--------------------I--------------------I--------------------I--------------------I

       Approx. Time:        1 Day                      1 Week                  1 Month               3 - 6 Months                1 Year

      Approx. Difficulty:      1/10                       2/10                       4/10                       6/10                       10/10

Approx. Value Created:    1 btc                      10 btc                     50 btc                    100 btc                    10000 btc

You must understand that while it would take 1 day to create a cheap scam, 1 month to clone a complex coin like Nxt, it would probably take at least about 1 year to invent a deeply innovative coin if you have all other necessary resources at your disposal1(Nxt would be good example of that). Indeed, it would be both stupid and frustrating to confuse deep innovation with clones or low innovation and demand otherwise. NEM aims to bring deep innovation on multiple levels, so when the alpha version along with more interesting details will be disclosed, I think a lot of people will get very excited and some will even get nervous. Indeed this could be one of the most important developments of the altcoin world in 2014. But as you might understand, until the right moment comes, most of these details need to be kept secret for obvious strategic reasons.

Anyway, starting with our extremely competent and responsible dev team, our large, talented and diverse community, our fair distribution and equality experiment, I think you can all see that with each passing day NEM is evolving to be a whole different kind of creature, unlike anything you have seen it the altcoin world until now. But in order to see that, you must get out of the noisy and impulsive crowd and focus on the signal. If you look close enough I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

The Marshmallow Test And Financial Freedom

It seems there are two major impediments on the road to financial freedom. One of them is the economic and banking system which we are trying to solve at least partially through NEM. The other one is a bit more counter-intuitive and less thought of, it's ourselves(with all the decisions and wrong moves we make). If we want to achieve something we must shift from a consumer mindset to a producer mindset, and therein lies the key.

Looking at the marshmallow experiment which emphasizes self-control and delayed gratification as a better predictor of success than IQ, I can only wonder what all those people selling NEM now will think in a couple of months.

If you would have to choose between receiving 1.5 btc for your share now or delaying gratification to receive at least 10x that amount in a couple of months, what would you choose?

If self-control and delayed gratification are a good predictor of success, it seems quite obvious to me, impulsivity may be an even better predictor of failure.

So in the end, I can only say be wise and make smart decisions because although we all start with an equal opportunity, ultimately our decisions, contributions and productivity will decide our outcome, and trust me, as it looks, there won't be any equality in that.

References
1 Through necessary resources I mean an enormous amount of brain power, time and energy to invest and conceptualize such a novel technology and an even greater amount of brainpower, time, energy and determination to transform things from the realm of ideas to reality. But it gets even more intriguing, since although these resources are necessary, in a lot of cases they may still not be sufficient.

And one more thing, remember, this is only the very beginning of NEM, you have not seen what NEM is capable of yet.

We have great news:

The Open Alpha is scheduled on 6/25. Let's the countdown begin. We will be inviting selective users into the closed Alpha testing starting in a couple of days. The priority goes to helpers/ volunteers who are in the Trello board or answer the volunteer survey earlier so there is no need to sign up now. Thanks.

On behalf of the NEM dev. team.

I will add a countdown timer later.

Regarding the updated design, I am interested in the community's thoughts on using the circle with 3 balls (tomoe; 巴) or some modified form as our symbol/logo.

Right now I don't think we really have a symbol that relates to humans because transformed triangles and squares are a little too abstract. It is important to create something that people can see and have a feeling for what it means. Tomoe and symbols like yin-yang represent a dynamic balance that shows harmony and yet movement at the same time. I think if you think about what that means conceptually then you can get an idea for what a fitting design for NEM will be.

At a high level, I think you could summarize NEM in 3 parts:

- financial freedom
- decentralization
- equality of opportunity

Uniting these three together in solidarity, we have a theme where these three components must be together and work together in order to create an emergent harmony (i.e., the new economy).

If anyone has any ideas on other symbols we could use that represent these ideals, please post them here!

Tomoe.

There are lots of different versions.  I think one with three colors to represent each value would be nice.  Honestly, I know little about this kind of thing though.

I am okay with this being a symbol for the alpha for sure.  At some point I would like to see the community vote to keep it or make a new one.

Thanks, Jabo.

UP's concern is that NEM should try to create an original symbol rather than using something that is in the public domain. I can see his point, but so far no one has come up with anything, so I proposed this for now, hoping that it will spark some new ideas.

I can see both of your points.  I really am not sure as this isn't my area of expertise.

The advantage the symbol you suggested is that it can't really be copyrighted and could be made unique for NEM.

Really I hope the community gets a good symbol.

The logo looks very panda-ish and not "serious" enough, but alas, I wish I was a graphics designer. :-(

Can we have the community come out with some logos and put them to vote? That would be a great way of getting consensus agreement, in the true spirit of a block chain transaction!

Pandas are cool :D

We tried community-sourcing a logo, but no one came up with anything that really resonated. Lots of logos just said NEM, but I think we should try to move away from textual logos and try to find a symbol that represents: 1) financial freedom, 2) decentralization, and 3) equality of opportunity.

I wouldn't say our programming is slow. We have tens of thousands of lines of code already, along with well over 1000 test cases (we are doing test-driven development). We're just doing a lot of new things and new things take time because they have to be well tested. We haven't yet announced all the new things we are doing. Our team is really first-rate and I think people who invest in NEM now will easily get 10-20x their money (unless something crazy happens like BC Next and Satoshi releasing a new coin the day before NEM launch).

If you don't have NEMstake yet, head over to the NXT AE and get some: https://nxtblocks.info/#section/assets_exchange/12465186738101000735

I don't believe in rushing out things. If we have to do anything, we should do it right once and not backpedal! That will often bring more disaster than not. I believe Qora is having some roll out problems they are facing now.

Some people have screwed that in the form of a couple of crypto coins. :-(

Maybe we should go to something like fiverr.com and ask some of these people to participate in a competition in exchange for some NEMs. Get ten of them and pay $5 each for the basic one and then we pay the winner more NEMs to get more versions of it as our final logo. That way we also get our  brand seen by at least 10 more people!

NEM already has a larger market cap than qora and we don't even have an open beta yet.

Exactly my point.

I think people don't generally understand what innovation on multiple levels means. So after NEM launches they will have a good reference point and example.

Keep up the good work.

P.S. Don't worry about Satoshi and BCNext, maybe they are stakeholders too, secretly waiting for NEM launch to test it out. :)

I just want to say that none of the devs are giving up on NEM and there is no reason that anyone else should, either!

We are still working hard on coding and the OPEN ALPHA is still on schedule for 06/25.

Letter to all NEM stakeholders

Dear Nemsters,

As you may or may not already know, there have been some changes to the NEM team resulting in a lot of confusion on the Bitcointalk forum.

UtopianFuture has left the team, in good faith, and there has subsequently been a reorganization to reflect his departure.meg

UtopianFuture had been instrumental in organizing this project, but rest assured that the core development team is still intact. UtopianFuture's main role was coordination, providing direction and management of the voluntary association that is NEM. He was never involved in the coding. Hence, development-wise, the project is not impacted.

NEM is based upon the principle of decentralization, such that no single person is indispensable. Since UtopianFuture left, numerous volunteers have  come forward and offered their help. We are in fact honored to know that there are many of you out there who share the same vision as the core development team of creating a new economic movement. We are now stronger than ever and have recruited some of these volunteers to the team to push our ideals forward more aggressively than ever before. Yes, we have since regrouped and are soldiering on to ensure that this project is successful!

With the reorganisation, we have decided that there should be an entirely separate group looking after the promotion of NEM. We have now created a new Marketing Board to spearhead organizing the great NEM community and to spur our movement to greater heights. To say the least, this event has actually made us into a much stronger group.

As a result of the events that have transpired, there have been many unsubstantiated speculations and postulations about what happened. Most of these statements have been emotionally charged and were without any factual basis. These misleading claims have left the community confused.

We would like to take this opportunity to assure you that most of these claims are not true and that it is business as usual for the core team; you should not be influenced at all by some of the characters in the forum that purport otherwise.

The last few months have been rather hectic and to complete a project of this size and nature requires a lot of careful planning and design. It has not been easy, but we believe with the able-bodied team that we have, we shall be able to meet our targets.

In the meantime, and in order to allay the confusion, we have included links to the only official NEM threads on bitcointalk. We have also included the link to our official NEM websites and forum. If you have any questions regarding the incidents that have caused this confusion, you are most welcome to raise those questions in the forum threads or contact one of the core team members directly.

At the same breath, we would like to advise that for those of you who are eligible for the NEM coins, please take care of your BTT accounts. Please do not spam, post addresses or expose your transaction TX-IDs such that your accounts get banned. Your account is key to your claim later.

Due to the incidents in the past, it was decided that a moderated thread would also be created to run alongside the non-moderated thread. Please read xtester's post about why this is necessary here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.msg7350705#msg7350705 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.msg7350705#msg7350705)

I have to say the NEM Community that is forming here day by day is incredibly generous and I believe
this is going to be a Powerful Force to Reckon with when people realize how nice everybody is here and
how much they all want to help support one another.

The Proof of Importance is an incredible way to get people contributing and helping one another grow
each other projects and market products and services etc.

You understand how capitalization works, yes?  It's a lot easier for NEM to hit $20 million than for NxT to hit $500 million, in order to see a ten fold return.  Now you may retort and ask why would NEM hit $20 million?  And why wouldn't NxT hit $500 million?

Easy.  Fair distribution to 2800, which ensures stability as no whales have unfair influence or advantage.  Second - technological innovation, even to the extent that NxT's lead developer wants to copy proof of intent.  There's a general aversion among investors to avoid investing in a 'great quick rich scheme' which benefits a few handful of early birds who continuously dump to cash out.  Hence that distribution caused NxT's capitalization to decline a great deal and placed a cap on its' growth.

https://nxtforum.org/pub-crawl/come-from-beyond-and-nem/

Ironically NEM is actually more innovative than NxT.  NEM can easily incorporate 'side features' like the asset exchange.  NxT on the other hand can't incorporate 'main features' like NEM's PoI, without undergoing a long extensive complete overhaul taking a year (which would be vetoed by the whales as PoS is more profitable for them than PoI) and that's assuming even IF they can get NEM's source codes.  In that regard, NEM will always be a step ahead of NxT.  The 'side features' don't matter in the long run as they're not proprietary and arguably it's lipstick on the pig.

As for NxT's capitalization, you obviously must not had known about NxT long ago.  I was an early adopter of NxT and I am still waiting for it to recover to $0.11.  NxT tanked after its' distribution became known and for awhile was worth less than Doge Coin, then temporarily went back up (which apparently was a huge orchestration by a guy called John who then stole a lot of money) and now it's on the decline again.

What do I miss here? This comment is fairly accurate. It is true that:

1. It is easier for NEM to go up 5 folds to 25million cap than for NXT to go 5 folds to 250 million cap. It is a matter of catching up is easier than innovating.

2. Side features are easier to incorporate than core features.

3. NXT has a distribution problem.

Anyway you guys have to stop asking people not saying their opinions.  I don't see how this post is doing a disservice to NEM.

I don't like rebutting your post point by point but there is a such thing like opinion. TS offered his opinion. He obviously does not like NXT very much but he is entitled to his opinion. It puzzles me that some of you think his opinion will harm NEM.

his opinion is not the issue, its the manner in which he expresses it and the incorrect facts he uses to express his opinion that is the issue. i didnt say dont say you dont like nxt or dont say it had bad distribution at launch. so im in no way trying to censor people opinions.

You can ignore him if you want.

that doesnt solve anything, he would still be giving unsuspecting people false information. if i was to block him, i may not see and be able to correct any of his future posts that are false and/or misleading. that post is totally believable to anyone who doesn't know allot. i dont correct him because of his opinion,  its just to prevent someone from getting wrong information from his posts or prevent them being mislead and hopefully prevent lose of finances due to false or misleading info.

Maybe he hate NXT because CFB set a bounty to expose his identity for no obvious reason. I like him as a Nemster and see no harm in his personal opinion.

The ad hominens, cherry picking (straw man arguments) and hyperbole examples are logical fallacies and does not disprove what I wrote.  Anyone can use the Google machine and confirm the facts about NxT's distribution and all their recent scandals.

NEM is a better and stronger community.  It's a 180 in community direction if we can't point out the flaws in NxT's distribution.

By the way,  as for the character assassination, no one has ever came to me in a private message and accused me of causing them to lose finances.  On the contrary, I have had multiple people thank me for getting them into NEM.  I'm not taking credit for anything but you are trying to present the image that I somehow caused people to lose money and I am pointing out the factual opposite.

I do agree with ARGpentem here. I don't find the post to be that negative, but rather fairly rational.

That being said, this isn't the NXT forum and I think we should try to focus on NEM and community building here, rather than talking about potential competitors all the time.

In the meantime we have progressed a lot. Our current alpha build version is 0.2.9: https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2382.0 and beta is approaching really quick. If everything goes well, official launch should be sometime at the end of October.

Please check the official NEM thread for more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.0

Cheers

Shall we close this thread ?
Seems like it's just another thread that's inactive.

NEM beta will soon be released.

Quote from: Jaguar0625
Some people have been asking about the NEM roadmap. In the spirit of transparency, I'd like to share a tentative feature roadmap (dates are purposely left out).

Required Launch Features
  • Time Synchronization (SHIPPED) - All NEM nodes will synchronize their clocks. This provides two benefits: (1) an attack defense because we will be able to shrink the range of allowable timestamps, (2) allows NEM to work on computers with non-synchronized clocks.
  • Evaluation of Secret Performance Enhancements (ETA 10/12) - We have an idea that could significantly increase NEM performance. We want to test out this change before launch.
  • Complete POI Enhancements (ETA 10/05) - We are busy working on some improvements to the POI algorithm that should make it better.
  • Remote NIS Support (SHIPPED) - Allow a local NCC instance to connect to a remote NIS server.
  • Remote Harvesting (ETA 10/05) - Allow an account to harvest on behalf of another account. This would allow accounts in cold wallets to harvest securely.

Stretch Launch Features
  • Lottery payout to reward running / highly trusted nodes
  • Multisig support

Post-Launch Features
  • AE
  • Business Rules
  • Blockchain compression (i.e. faster downloads)

(Hopefully, that's enough announcements for one day! ;))
